Anyone Else Tackled Kudzu Vines?
When we got in church, we lived almost 40 miles away from the church we wanted to go to. We tried to find some land closer to the church than where we were. We also needed to be closer to our work and get out of a family situation we were having. We prayed and prayed and looked and hunted. Nobody would sell us any land. Except one man who had two acres of Kudzu he would sell. It was only a mile away from the church.
And the Lord just worked it out that the price of this land was about exactly how much money we had. Plus it would leave us a little extra to have our trailer moved.
The only downside to this was a mighty rolling kudzu patch!! Everybody kept telling us that if it was all we could find, then it must not be the Lords will. They all said we we're crazy and asking for a headache. Well, we went ahead and bought the kudzu patch.
The first thing we did was get a guy on a bush hog to mow the kudzu down. Then we got a backhoe and scraped & leveled it off. We dug kudzu taters and burned roots for days! Since there is no way to get them all, we still have little sprouts coming back now that it's springtime. Looks like we are gonna have fun mowing it this summer!
Just wondering if anybody else has ever tried to do this. I think it's gonna be a pretty place if we ever get it all fixed up. It Didnt take long at all to get "famous" in the area. Everybody from miles around us refers to us as the couple who bought the kudzu patch. Everybody honks when they go by & we just wave real big! :waving:
I feel that God really blessed us tho! We have a whole lot bigger place that what we had. Its more peaceful. In a better community, and highway frontage. We like it here. We've almost be married 2 years in June. God has really been good to us, because when we first started out, we didnt have a pot to sit on. :biglaugh: But little by little, paycheck by paycheck things are improving drastically.

Bro Coy Hill is the pastor there. He comes to our church and preaches for us a lot. He is great. I close friend of my pastor, and very highly respected. My pastor has preached there some too. Dont know when I am coming to visit...My parents live in Pascagoula, and I am planning on going up there in Aug, but its not for sure yet.
we go to the evergreen church of the lord jesus christ with brother robert maxcy. he just turned 75 last week. great church,i just hate the organ playing.LOL
Bro. Maxey (our Pastor) just turned 75. He & Bro. Coy Hill are good long time friends. I like Bro. Hills church. I like the one in Tupelo and in Amory. If anything ever happens to Bro. Maxey, we may go to one of the other churches. The Church we go to now is a small church. Most of the time we have about 16 in Sunday School. No children. Its hard to get people to come to our church since there is a big crowded pentcostal church just 2 miles up the road on the highway.
Our church is a little off the beaten path. Its mostly older people. Bro. Maxey depends on us so much that we hate to hurt him by leaving and going to another church right now. Seems He's trying so hard to hold on to his church and keep it running, but he dont have but a couple of people with good tithes. All the others there are on a monthly SS check and they dont get very much at all. But Bro. Maxey is starting to get feeble. I dont know what will happen if something did happen to him. They would be trying to find another Pastor I guess.
Most of our congregation is older women. Im the youngest one there. We dont have but one other man at our church besides Allen, and the other guy isnt very talkative.
I would like for him to be around some good men that he can enjoy fellowship with. Yosemite has mostly been around truckers all his life. (You know what all kinds of truckers there are). Most of the guys out there are dope heads and alcholics, swearing profanity everywhere, womanizers.
He hasnt been in the fellowship of many HolyGhost filled men very much. Thats why I am kinda pushing to help him meet some men friends of positive influence. To help him find some friends he can respect in the Lord and look up to. I was so tickled that he got to meet Bro. Dad. Im glad I found this website. We have cut-up about Bro. Dad & Sis. Mom everysince we meet them. I am looking forward to meeting some others on here too someday.
I want him to feel like he's a part of a brotherhood in the genuine Holy Ghost. He's never had that before. Man, I wanted him to be able to go to that men's conference so bad, but he didnt get back in time to go. I thought if he could get down there for 2 days where he couldnt smoke, there would be alot of support for him. And alot of strong Holy Ghost filled men to help him pray. There is strengh in numbers. Seems like when you got people helping you, its a little easier to get the Holy Ghost.
My Dad went to that mens confrence in Jackson last weekend...he would have liked him. Dad used to be a trucker. ;)
I sure did want him to go! I havent been to a ladies conference yet either. My sister went last year and when she came back, seems like she spoke in tongues for 2 weeks! lol SO I would like to go to one of those. She said there was hundreds of women all out in the isles and they were having a time. Can you just imagine all the hair do's getting messed up! I couldnt imagine that. Id have to explode. lol

My sister and her husband pastor a Pentecostal Church in Sherman, Ms. Its a small church, but they are doing good. Bro. Norman & Sheila Mattox from Sherman Pentcostal Church. Dont know if any of you have heard of them, but here they are. lol She doesnt look anything like me does she?

Girls only did that for a joke. They didn't really use them. They DID use other things, though.
I've seen some pile their hair high enough that I think an oatmeal box would have fit... ;)
Its hard for me to believe, but since my pastors wife says she seen it happen, then I guess it must have happened. She said she seen a woman shout her hair down one night and a sweater fell out of it. :yikes:
SHe must have had a whole lot of hair! Guess that would kinda make me blush if that happened to me.
Guess thats one way of putting some weight to your hair and pulling the wrinkles out of your forehead. haha Who needs botox.
We had a good service at our church Sunday night. Bro. Yosemite didnt go, he had a bad headache. The minister that was called upon to preach had brought a stick of dynamite made out of poster board. Had two round peices taped on each end of it to make a cylinder. He had a loaf bread tie sticking out the top of it for the fuse. And had dynamite wrote on the outside of it.
The minister got the Pastor to annoint the stick of dynamite with oil. He started calling people up to take the dynamite and they laid hands on them. People who were caught up in the Holy Ghost started passing the dynamite around. Man talk about some dead bones that had been sitting on the pew for months.:onfire:
Everybody in the entire church was up! haha The whole time I had been going to church there, I hadnt seen some of those people move! But they moved Sunday night.
lol :biglaugh: That poor paper stick of dynamite got wrinkled, and squished, and flattened all to peices. I brought what was left of the dynamite home and handed it to Yosemite. I said, See what you missed? The devil didnt want him there cause I think he couldve gotten the Holy Ghost.
I dont think I had ever spoke in tongues that hard in my life! :cloud9: My feet just flew straight out from under me when I handed my dynamite over to somebody else! I sat right down backwards. haha KER PLUNK! Man I feel great just talking about it!!! I can't wait for the Holy Ghost to hit me again!
I thought that if the rumor got out they we were handling dynamite down at that church, maybe it'll get somebody's curiousity up. haha And yes, My hair was in KNOTS when I got home! hehe!

It looks like one of those big spiders with the big egg sack on it's back. yuck. The look on that guy's face is like, ' how can I find a way to get out of here!'
We had a preacher's wife in our district that wore her hair way out away from her face and a bun in the top middle. It was something that everyone stared at. I couldn't believe my eyes at youth conference that year. It was something that people stared at all during the service. They moved away, they were only there for a short time.
I must admit I was wondering how she got out the door of her house and into the car.
It makes you wonder how long it takes them to get ready. lol I used to doodey my hair up on my head, but It kept on falling down at church so I just leave it down. lol My sister a head full of thick hair. One Sunday night during church a wasp flew into her hair and when she swatted at it with her hand it got stuck in her hair. She jumped up from the pew and was slapping and slinging her hair and squealing.
The woman sitting behind her didnt know she had a wasp in her hair. She started clapping and saying , "Do it again Lord! Bless her Good! Wheew Bless her Good! We still laugh about that.
:laughat: Somehow I knew someone would think she was being blessed. :laughat:
:laughhard:
