God blessed me with a friend so special, I knew she was the kind of friend that only comes once in a lifetime. The kind of friend you can call at 2am when you're nearly beside yourself with worry, and instead of being upset at being awakened, she'll ask what took you so long to call. I lived in a small(ish) town, and went to a very small church that had no other young people anywhere near my age. Life got lonely sometimes. Sarah and her Mom knew I was coming to visit them, and planned a surprise party to celebrate my 21st birthday, and invited about ten of my friends from that side of the mountain.... people I rarely got to see. Usually, I pick up on surprises really quickly, and get suspicious... but somehow they managed to keep it a complete secret. I was truly shocked. Any favorite memories?: Strangely enough, with all the awesome memories we've made together, this one is easy. Just to give you the background... Kim lives in Hong Kong, and we only get to see each other an average of maybe once every 2 years or so. Well... One summer, her parents were going to be flying to Oregon, and I was extremely disappointed when I found out Kim wasn't going to be able to come with them. She kept checking flight arrangements, but it just wasn't working out with her work schedule at the the school. We were both really sad. Her parents arrived in town, and I was excited to see them, but kept hounding her mother with questions about what Kim was doing lately with her job and church involvements, hoping for news... ANY news about her. Next morning, I'm at work, somewhat near the front doors, but focusing hard on a project... when I hear a voice asking the clerk at the counter, "Is Ruby around?" I walk around the corner, and then stop short in my tracks, staring speechless at a face I'd been missing terribly. Someone who was giggling at my shocked face. Someone named Kim. I think that was the best surprise I've ever been given. :)

Ok, I have posted this in another thread on another board. But since we are discussing this here, I guess I will repost it here too. I didnt answer the questions exactly like they are on this thread, but this will do Im sure.
I have 5 Best friends...I know, thats a lot. But each one to me, is not any higher than the other ones. They are all very special, and all very diverse, and they are all my best friends for different reasons and for diffrent seasons in my life. I have had a few others, but they have left me, but for this time in my life, these are my current best friends.
JON- Jon has been my Best Friend the longest, we grew up together in SS and HATED each other. Then we took a youth trip to Six Flags one summer, and we were paired up to be buddies in the park. From that day on, we were NEVER apart. Seriously. We got accused of dating, but it was never like that at all. Then he made some lifestyle changes and it ultimately caused him to move to Slidell LA, and I havent seen him since Katrina. I talk to him every now and then, and I will NEVER give up on him. When everyone else shunned him for his choices, I stuck by him, and I always will.

JENNIE- Jennie and I have been through alot. I showed up in her Grandparents driveway and carted her off to youth service one night, and we have Best friends ever since. I have not seen her in the last 6 years, but I have been ready several times to hop in the car and head up there to see her. We had so much fun the summers she was here, and in a couple weeks, I will finally see her again, and she will get the biggest hug she has ever had.

JUSTIN- Well, everyone knows that Justin is my right hand. For real. I talk to him about almost everything, and he knows more about me and my life than I do. I can call him and ask him anything about what I was planning to do on a certain day that I forgot about, and he reminds me. He is the only one that can manipulate me, and get his way all the time, and get away with it. I am aware of it, and I allow it, and he knows it. I could call him at 3am and ask him to go anywhere with me, and he is always willing. We have committed crimes together, went dumpster diving, had fights in Wal*Mart, and laughed till we cried. Recently, he moved off to college at IBC, and I am so proud of what he has become. But I still miss my buddy.

SIS. LORETTA (Sis. Mom) - Where to start? She walked into my life right when I needed a friend. I had lost one of my closest friends, and Mom was there for me shortly after that. She has taught me many things, including stirring up my love for the Deaf. I was praying with her when she got the Holy Ghost, and after that we have had some of the best Biblical conversations that I have ever had with anyone. We have spent so many hours on the phone that its not even funny, and she has challenged me on many occasions to find things out for myself and not just blindly trust what I have been taught my whole life. She has listened to me while I talk, and talk, and talk. And she taught me that age really doesnt matter with friendships. She has been a true blessing in my life, and I am really going to miss her when she runs off and gets married and moves to NC.

RUBY- Well I never thought I could ever call an "Internet friend" a Best Friend, but I was wrong. Ruby was placed in my life at precisely the time that I needed her the most. I was (and still am) struggling with some things that I thought I was all alone in, and she has taught me that I am not alone, and that I CAN overcome. I really never thought I would EVER share the things that I have shared with her, from my deepest darkest hidden sins, to my painful daily routines. She has been there for me, and really does understand me. I dont know how, but she does. It really is like we do share a brain...and that scares me. But she has truly been Godsent since the very first IM.
