I, myself, need some good ideas for things to do with the boyfriend..
So, I figured..why not change that boyfriend to spouse and put this in the "marrieds" section? :)
Have at it. ;)
why not?
cause you can do different things when you are married than when you are dating... lol. Thats why not. haha, you might get some suggestions that are for married people, and not single people like us gals...
Well, the suggestions I'm looking for are things like..walking in the park, candlelit dinners, etc. and not "take the children to the park, go over our finances, pay bills, etc." ha ha
;)

BOL! It's usually LESS when you're married. Especially if you have kids.
Mini golf is fun, especially when you're traveling and the stores close at 9 and you're still wide awake.
Stevebert tolerates trips to the mall, not his favorite thing.
Taking a walk down the walking path.
Walking to McDonald's, getting a salad for a reward and walking back home (One mile each way)
Biking, or Stevebert riding his bike while I rollerblade. Still want him to let me attach a tow rope so I can sidewalk surf! :laughhard:
Take mini trips to nearby cities. We're close to Baltimore, love to go to the docks. There's a great mall there.
See museums around here. Most are free. LOL Love the Spy Museum.
Go into Washington on Kite day and look at the Chinese cherry blooms and the kites. and walk from the Mall to the Jefferson Memorial.
Hiking
Picnic
Go to the beach during off times and walk along the water, or if it's warm enough, in the water.
Go to a local ball game and meet some of your neighbors, if they go. LOL
Local outdoor concerts
That's the sort of things we do, can't think of any more at the moment.
I like taking trips to nearby cities. Detroit isn't too far from where Taurean lives, so we've been there a couple times. It's so beautiful at night!
Maybe I should surprise him for V-Day by taking him there and actually NOT getting lost ha ha

Detroit is just across the river from Windsor Canada. It's a fun trip.
How about talking? I enjoy long conversations about anything and everything with my best friend. :thumbsup2:
It's more fun to talk while you're walking. No phones, no kids, nothing but a few bikes or bladers.
oh I LOVE just the quiet times where we sit/cuddle and talk.
One of our favorite things to do is try new restaurants/foods
I vote for talking....I just dont have a guy to talk with. *cough* (did I just say that?)
or all of the above... i would go for walking or biking or rollerblading or walking in water or any of it... but alas, no guy. /me starts singing 'ohh what a day that will be...'' lol, but i can wait though. I like being able to hop up and go to Guatemala when the opportunity arises like i am this week! I am so excited you guys!
Well, I'm not above taking a walk with a Girl friend, either. Or blading. I used to go blading with the girls from church back home.

"Fun activities to do with your spouse"
ooooh boy do I have some ideas for this one!!! :freaky2:
But since we're putting a big cap of limitations on it and pulling it back down to boyfriend status I'll refrain from those ideas... :hypocrite:
hmmm so besides kissing...
well lets see, last weekend I really enjoyed just being snuggled up watching a movie and then remaining snuggled up talking for a couple hours... ahhhhh so nice
when the weather is awful: playing cards/boardgames/video games/pillow fights/cooking - (just think carefully about which jobs you let him attempt... LOL) i'm one to be constantly finding something silly like playing a game of slaps or simultaneous thumb wars at random moments (try coordinating both hands... my left wins, my right loses... or is it the other way around... anyway) reading - usually something silly that is easily shared like The Onion paper(or website LOL) and this year gives you added activities of being able to watch presidential debates and discuss politics and how you can change the world together LOL
For a sample of The Onion read this fabulous and pertinent "article" http://www.theonion.com/content/news/local_girlfriend_always_wants_to (http://www.theonion.com/content/news/local_girlfriend_always_wants_to) LOL
evenings out - well I get to hit the best city in the world - free comedy shows, independent film theaters, go listen to a jazz band, hit dinner at a latin restaurant with a latin band and attempt to salsa dance LOL, or go to a nearby city that has a small and cute downtown area and walk around looking at used books and real estate listings or whatever the shop windows present you and just stroll, hold hands and talk or enjoy the silence, museums (there are fun, hands on kid ones if he's not into looking at art silently lol)
check your local listings for activities and just keep an eye on what is going on

:beret:
hey sis... wanna go blading? or walking?
Well, it's kinda cold out, so maybe get a bit more heat going if we go blading.
you can come here, its about 65 out here in the dead of night... and thats only cause it rained today. it was warmer earlier, and sligtly windy! it was awesome! i wish i had a hammock so bad!
Where are you again? Any lakes nearby? We could go looking for smoochin' couples near the water and throw sand at them.
ohhhh, now thats an idea! lol. there are a few at the university here... not sure there would be any at it yet though, its still a bit cold for that right? and there are a few souther... like the gulf... hmmm.
If you live in the Redneck Rivera like myself and wife you can go hunting or fishing or just riding on the river or just a hike through the woods. . .
Depends on what you and your spouse enjoy. There's one couple in our church that collects coins and stamps together. For me that would be mind-numbingly boring. After about ten minutes of that I would probably cease to exist as a sentient being. But, my wife and I enjoy museums, parks, etc etc. We've gone to the aquarium in New Orleans several times together. A couple months ago we went to the exhibit on the human body (with real preserved bodies) at a place in Mobile. That was fun. Course, there are things I like that my wife doesn't get, so we make room for each other in those areas.
not to sound goofy spiritual but we do like to go help at the church with stuff. There are events and maintenance/cleaning to be done. Sound weird? Not if you really like working for the Lord! How about witnessing together?
Good point, MY!
Some other things (Mary's already covered everything pretty well, though!) are tourist-y attractions, picnics at the park, kite flying, museums, concerts, comedy clubs, drive-in movies (not every place has these, so you'd have to check), dance lessons (community places like the YMCA often offer these for cheap!), sports games (can be cheap, especially for students), new ethnic foods, even 'treasure hunting' at rummage/thrift places..

I seem to think that dating is really different than things you do with your spouse. I know my husband I just do ordinary things. There is just a different level to it and we are simply comfortable just being together. Sometimes its the simpliest things that we enjoy together. Seriously...a day of yard work and then grilling out.... Or just staying at home and relaxing.

If you're looking for advice on what you can do on a date, I might be able to offer some advice. When I was still single, I was somewhat known for my unusual and creative dating. I never liked to get caught up in the usual dating activities. I would take something that was "normal" and turn it into something unusual.
Here's one example:
This took a little bit of time to set up in advance, not too much time, but it did require some pre-date preparation.
The lunch date: I took my girlfriend (at the time) on a lunch date. This was an outdoor lunch on a warm summer day. I had set up a table with chairs outside, had a basket of food (with the proper containers to keep the hot food hot and cold food cold), dinner ware (plates, forks, glasses, etc.), a flower arrangement in the middle of the table, nice table cloth, candles, a portable stereo with classical music playing. I did everything I could to make the table arrangement and meal as close to what one would find in a nice restaurant as I could. We even dressed up nice (semi-formal) for our date. I had a friend help out by playing the part of our "waiter". After I set everything up, he stayed with the outdoor table while I picked up my date. When we arrived, he met us at the table, seated us, and served our food to us, just as if we were in a nice restaurant.
The unusual part is that all of this was set up on the grassy median strip of the main road going through town. While we were having our nice "romantic" diner/lunch, there was traffic driving by at 30MPH on both sides of us. I'm pretty sure that some of the drivers passing by probably thought we were part of some performing arts thing. We had a lot of people honking and giving us the thumbs up sign.
This happened well over 20 years ago now, and I don't see that girl (woman) very often anymore. The last time we were home to visit, we saw her and she mentioned that particular date. All these years later, that single date still stands out in her mind as a fond memory.

Pictures were taken, but I don't know if I still have any. With all of the moves I've made in the past 20+ years, some things have gotten lost or misplaced. I'd have to dig through some old boxes to see if any pictures survived.

It wouldn't limit who I'd hug because I'm not a hugger, so I wouldn't hug everyone in the first place. LOL Sometimes ya just can't get out of them. I guess Sunny Chel is one of them. ;) I will hug when it's something like that but I really don't like to. I've gotten some awsome huggies from the Sunday school kids. Even after they grew up, they still give ole Sis a huggie when they see her.

My wife and I love to spend time together. Since the birth of Noah we have less time that's just us, but that's part of the deal. Here are the things we enjoy doing together:
- We love to read books and share what we're reading. She likes fiction and I like ancient culture, church history, and theology. We also enjoy reading books about couples, relationships, and communication. A wonderful book to read together is the "Men are from Mars and Women Are From Venus" book. It really helped us with how we communicate with one another. Also we enjoy books that help preserve passion and keep the flame of maritial intimacy alive.
- We love to put the boy to bed and take in a good movie. We went without a television for 12 years and there are plenty of movies out there we haven't seen so this is often enjoyable. A good romantic comedy is something we both enjoy and spend time talking about afterwards. Also documentaries are wonderful.
- We enjoy birdwatching. At first I wasn't sure about this but it's become very enjoyable. We both have a pair of binoculars and we keep these and a field guide in the Jeep. We used to visit local parks and walk birdwatching together. We do this less now with Noah but now that he's walking we've gone out a few times. Also we'll be out and about and spot a nice bird and talk about it.
- Drive. This is very expensive but we really enjoy it. We like to get out just drive. We have eachother all to ourselves with few interruptions and Noah always goes to sleep in the Jeep.
- We also enjoy eating out. We try to eat out every Friday night as much as possible. This started as a tradition with us while dating and even after we were married we committed to keeping our "date". Of course now Noah comes along with us.
- Shopping. Men, if you want to really learn to communicate with your wives...learn to enjoy shopping. Not just "shopping" but the art of shopping. Good deals and "talking" about things you like and why you like them. Some of our funniest conversations have been while picking with eachother over something we would buy while shopping. Invent "rules" and invent a game while shopping. Play contrary, meaning endevour to "not like" anything the other points out. LOL Make up absolutely silly and illogical reasons why, soon the other will realize it's just a game and it will catch on. Or the "rule" could be that both of you have to tell the absolute truth about the items you see while shopping. Questions like, "Do you like this?"; "Would you ever use that?"; "Does this look good on me?"; "What would you think if I wore that?" Remember the rule is to be absolutely honest to a fault. But beware, this could get you into trouble gentleman...be honest...but be wise. ;) The objective isn't to win or be superior in any way...the goal is just to stimulate conversation and be silly.
Those are just a few things I could think of off the top of my head. They work for us, it might work for some of you guys too.
God bless and keep you and yours.

True! My wife loves to shop. Maybe the key is... if at all possible, we husbands do well to learn to enjoy what our wives enjoy and then take part in it with her.

My wife overlooking the Colorado river. Yes, my knuckles were white holding the camera since there was about a 1600 foot drop off from her feet to the canyon floor.

I know. That's what Anna from AZ called it. She said she'd be our Barbie tour guide since she lived in Prescott.
She wanted to kick CA into the ocean so Arizonans could have beach-front property.
*sigh* I miss Anna. I think about her sometimes and wonder what she's up to.
Someone said she got married and lives in Sadona (sp)
I miss her energy! It was catching.
