Myself?
You know, I've been thinking... I want to go see Handel's Messiah. Last time I went, it was amazing to be sure. That was at least 4 or more years ago. I've never seen/ heard it performed at the San Francisco Symphony Hall.
Sooo...
What if I got a ticket and got dressed up and went to hear Handel's Messiah by myself?
What if I dressed in my black velvet dress with my hair curled magnificently, and my high heels on (ouch) and my cute little sequined bag...
A date with me.
Would I be good company?
Would I hold the doors?
Would I pull out a chair for me?
Would I take me out to eat afterward?
Would I pick up the tab for the meal?
And the clencher:
Would I decide I would rather keep it as "just friends" afterward?
:laughhard:
I think you should go
and I think you'll have such a great time that you'll make a lifelong commitment and should make it a regular habit to spoil yourself
:great:
I agree.
Anyone else planning a date with yourself this month? :-)
I figure if no one asks me out on a date, then I'll just have fun by myself. :-)
I think Im going to plan a birthday party for myself. And celebrate by myself.
Just don't eat the whole cake. Then you'll be throwing up by yourself. :-\

You go girl!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2:
If you do this, make sure you take pics of yourself!!!!!!!!
lol I'm REALLY thinking about doing it. Only thing kind of holding me back is that I don't like driving in the city very much, especially alone at night.
*shrug* I just might do it anyway, though.
Yup. I'll have to take pictures of my Christmas date. :-)
It's tomorrow night.
Fun thing about going by yourself: you can still get a great seat at the last minute!
It can still be expensive, though... We'll see.
you're worth it ;)
buy a bouquet of flowers to show up at the door with first before you leave ;)

last night I went out with myself... and I just happened to have a couple guy friends along most of the time too
but it still should count as a night on the town with myself 'cause they weren't my dates :biglaugh:
Wish we lived just a few hours closer to each other, Elona. :-? I'd love to go, too.
Go for it! and then come back and tell us how awesome it was. :)
:beret:
I might. We'll see. I may have gotten a better offer tonight. We'll see what happens. Two of my favorite men may want me to come over to their place and play some games and maybe watch a Christmas movie. :teeth:
I wish you lived closer, too, ST!

Oh wait. Are you absolutely _sure_ that's a better offer? I mean, after all, we're talking The Messiah here. Hmmm....
*ponders choices*
*ponders potential outcomes of said choices*
:beret:
Maybe. lol We're talking about two adorable, handsome guys, though!
*ponders the word adorable*
Hang on there, Missy! You talkin' about someone(s) under the age of... say, 10?
:beret:
...and it won't cost for parking, or flowers, or...
 And you'll be playing Chutes and Ladders, and watching Mary Poppins. :D
:beret:
Nope.
I'll be playing "this little piggy went to market" and watching "It's a Wonderful Life."
:hypocrite:

:o Never thought I would hear a woman use that term without having kids around!!!
...and I won't have to worry about traffic going into the city or annoying pedestrains...
And Nwlife: There's one particular man in my life that JUST SO HAPPENS to thoroughly enjoy that game, thankyouverymuch. :-p
Oh my.
I have butterflies in my stomach.
I made a deal to buy a ticket to go see "Messiah" tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Found it online and bought it for a good bit less than face value. Great seat in the orchestra section. It was originally being sold as half of a pair.
Hmmm... I wonder who else got the courage to go alone? Or will I get to use both armrests (I think mine's an aisle seat)? lol
I really did it!
I have a date. :o
I washed my hair this morning just in case. It's slightly curly now. Not sure what I'll do with it, but I'm just gonna go DOWNTOWN, baby! :hyper:
How crazy AM I, exactly?!?!?! :smirk:
I was debating the "date with myself" theory for tonight.
It involved Fazolis and Barnes and Noble.
Hmmm
Nai

:ignore: No more than the rest of us actually!
 let us know how it goes!
don't forget the goodnight kiss :biglaugh:
:o The goodnight kiss!??!?!?!!? No one warned me about THAT! :o
I already escorted myself inside and left myself at the door.
Had a mahhh-velous time. More later.
:demand:
We want to hear it NOW!!
Details lady!!!!!!!! :teeth:
Grrr! We want to know how your date went. And if you haven't noticed by now.... we're not the most patient bunch in the world.
:beret:
Well, for starters, my date didn't even bother to wash the vehicle! How RUDE! Sheesh. :pound:
Of course, my date also showed up early, bearing flowers (a poinsettia for the lady from whom I purchased my ticket).
But there were some redeeming moments...
My date held ALL the doors for me, pressed the button on the elevator, parked the car, drove in the crazy December city traffic (albeit, not without complaining a little bit about how crazy things were and how driving in the city can be really stress-inducing - a total turn-off).
The performance of the Messiah was outstanding. The bass soloist was cute, and my date didn't mind at all that I commented on the fact.
The soprano soloist was a bit strange, but I kept that to myself.
The food at the symphony cafe was really expensive, but my date bought me a sandwich at intermission anyway, since we hadn't had a chance to stop and eat on the way in, because of the traffic. How sweet!
By the time we got through the line and paid, though, it was time to go back inside.
I stuck the nicely wrapped-up sandwich in my pocket and went back in.
My date didn't grumble when, after the performance, I gave the sandwich to a homeless guy in a wheelchair outside the symphony hall. No grumblings when I was still hungry, either. As a matter of fact, my date offered to take me to my favorite Mexican place in the mall, but it was closed by the time we got there.
Overall, it was a fantastic night, even if my black velvet dress was in the laundry and didn't get worn. My purple dress looked okay, even though I felt kind of easter-ish with my purple dress topped by my hot pink winter coat. lol
sounds like the perfect date over all! but i would insist on the car being washed if you agree to go out again :thumbsup2:
Yup. I agree, Mz. Ethyl. How inconsiderate can you BE?! lol
right lol
but still yet sounded like the kind of date i would totally enjoy even with a dirty car lol
Yup. It was really cool. I haven't done something really special for myself in a really long time.
Speaking of which, I think I'm gonna go take a long hot bubble bath. :-)
Night-Night, GP!
night!!!

One of them even invited me out to Baskin Robbins sometime. I name the time. His treat! :teeth:
Sounds like you had fun!!!!!! Any pics? !? !?! !?! ?! !
 No photography or recording of any sort allowed in the symphony hall. I meant to take some of downtown, but I forgot. On the way in, I was stressed from the traffic. On the way home, I was totally worn out and ready to go home.
Oh well. As long as you had a good time, that's all that matters!!!! ;)
I got to hang out with one of my fave guys on Thursday.
Of course his name is Zach, he's 18 months old and we're related, but hey, life is good.
:)
Glad you got to see Messiah Elona, I'm jealous.
*sings* O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion...

I hugged and kissed and cuddled a very sweet guy named Parker the other day...of course he is 5 weeks old..and cute!

I also had a date tonight...with TWO guys!

:beret:
Nope...needed two...one for each hand. :)
*choke*
*feels Melody's forehead*
Ya alright, Pal?
:beret:
yes...I am WONDERFUL!
I almost forgot about this!
By request from TriciaLea and MelodyB, a song I learned as a child at GA camp:
:sing:I'm a little coconut, sitting on a cocoa beach
everybody steps on me, just to see how cracked I'll be
I'm a nut,
I'm a nut,
I'm a nut, I'm a nut, I'm craaaaazy
Called myself on the telephone, just to see if I was home,
asked myself out for a date, gotta be ready at a quarter til 8
I'm a nut,
I'm a nut,
I'm a nut, I'm a nut, I'm craaaaazy
Took myself to the picture show, sat myself on the second row
wrapped my arms around my waist, got so fresh I slapped my face
I'm a nut,
I'm a nut,
I'm a nut, I'm a nut, I'm craaaaazy
BOL!! But its better when we hear you sing it!!
Maybe I should video you singing that one this week :)

No videos. :nono:
You could video me opening MY present. I have figured out that I am not as shy as I once was about videos... :)
That is...if you got me one.. LOL
So I'll just video you and you won't video me. How's that? :P
Thats not the way it works.
Yes it is. :pound:
I'm older and I say so! :kermit:

I have a date to go to Baskin Robbins pending.
Got a gift card from Friendly's! Stevebert and I have a date this spring or summer, whenever it gets warmer.
Friendly's was my mother's favorite restaurant. I meant to go there while I was in Maryland, but time totally got away from me! I don't think they have them in southern Virginia, and they definitely don't have them on the west coast!
Malted.... noooo
Frappe...... nooooo
Fribble......

Nah. Mom always liked the Orange Creme somethingorother.
Back in the day they had an AWESOME Hershey's kiss sundae. Hershey's hot fudge, baby kisses and marshmallow on top, topped by a regular sized Hershey kiss... Mmmmm. My whole family was sad when they took that one off the menu.
Yesterday I had a date.
Jesus and I went to the beach.
We sat near the rocks and listened to the waves crashing against the shore and listened to the wind.
Please, tell me you had a chaperone.
Nope. :-) There were lots of people around, but I took my Bible and my journal, and Jesus and I had an awesome time! :-)
Just remember the six-inch rule.
LOL. It was always the suggestion. Place the Bible between you.
Well, my Bible WAS my date. :-) The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us... :-)
*starts humming*
Now it is Jesus and me...

btw: Hi, Alana! lol

This is a totally awesome thing to do... I love it. Mel and I have done this...
What have you done? Had a date with Jesus? :-) Or sat near the rocks and listened to the waves? :-)
I've sat by a river and listened to it run, and analyzed how life is like a river.. and we are like rocks in it... ok... way too deep... lol :biglaugh:
We have done it TWICE.
We wrote in the sand, and we sang.
I can honestly say it was two VERY defining moments of our friendship, that could never be planned, recreated, or replaced. :)
Yeah. River rocks ARE pretty deep: at the bottom of the river bed.
Mel: Sounds like awesome moments for sure.
Don't forget that I don't live far from the ocean, either. :bigcheese:

I've learned that my dates with Jesus here lately have been awesome. When I try to go on dates by myself, He usually shows up. I think He thinks He has to chaperone. ;)
