Well, got to thinking about what someone had posted earlier in another thread....so I got to digging, most of my old childhood collection was sold in a garage sale, donated to salvation army or eaten by a poodle.... :smirk2:
The original one I started out with is buried too deep to take a photo of, but here are two I have, the bear since age 8, and the tiger since a couple years ago.

My panda James is sitting at Mom and Dad's. He's missing one eye.
Ruggles, my old sheepdog is there too.
Plus, I left Speedy at home. Yeah, how could I have done that?
Speedy is the turtle my brother in law (at the time sister's fiancee) got me when I was in the hospital after wreck #1. :) He's visited 13 states.

Just curious as to why this is in singles. ???
Are singles the only ones that need teddy bears? :biglaugh:
lol Good question. After I'm married (if I ever make it to that point in my life), I don't think I can envision myself sleeping with a teddy bear or resorting to hugging one when I'm lonely. I like to believe that I'll put my stuffed animals in the guest room to decorate, and hug my real live teddy bear instead.

I don't think that being married doesn't mean never being lonely. :-( Besides, men talk back, bears don't. :laughhard:
"IF" I ever marry again, I intend to keep my bears. :demand: If he doesn't want me to, then that will be a sure sign that he's NOT Mr. Right. :nono:

I didn't say I would get rid of my bears! I just said I could see them going in the guest room. lol
And I definitely didn't say that marriage would make loneliness go away forever! lol I said "After I'm married... " "...when I'm lonely."
I just tend to think that, if I find the right real-life teddy bear, he'll trump the plush ones anyday.

And the only Build-a-bear I own has... well... memories attached. :smirk2: Good ones, bad ones, and everything in between. I don't hug her anymore but I can't
bear to get rid of her. *cough*
:beret:
Ok...here they are.. :D :D :D
This is Pinky...I got her when I was just a few mins old...My Daddy bought her for me in the hospital gift shop. She had a dress, but that has been missing for a long time.
This is Montgomery and Hortense. Montgomery I got from my Brothers' Grandparents for Christmas when I was 5 and Hortense I got the same year but was allowed to open a few weeks early cause I was brave when they put the stitches in my toe. *sniff* (I wasnt supposed to get to open it if I cried, and I did, but I got to have him anyway...cause I was brave... *wink*)
Jessica, Pie Lady, and Annabelle. Jessica is one of those "Real babies" that were so popular and I got her when I was 8. Pie Lady, my Daddy bought me when I was 3, and Annabelle, my great aunt Annabelle crocheted her for me when I was 4. Aunt Annabelle died this past year. (She taught me Psalm 23 when I was 4, and I used to sit at her feet and watch her crochet)
PL and Annabelle again, with Glow worm, and Koosa. Glow worm I got when I was 8, for Christmas...I begged and begged for a Glow worm. Mom tried to convince me it was a baby toy, but I didnt care. I wanted one. And I got it. I slept with it for YEARS! Koosa is another gift from my Brothers' Grandparents. He is a Cabbage Patch Kid Cat.
This is Fluffy. I got him for Easter when I was 6, and my all time childhood favorite. He is war-torn and battle scarred, but he is very special. And since I have rescued him from the closet today, he will remain out, and regain his rightful place on my bed. :D
(http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h181/MelodyB99/HPIM0603.jpg)
This is Puppy. I got him when I was 10, one of my friends bought him for me for a gift. His nose is worn off, cause I would sleep with him in the crook of my arm, and his nose would rub the wall. He has been on my bed for the last 17 years. Aside from Fluffy, he is my absoulte favorite.

My only teddy. Stevebert bought it for me from Kmart the second year they sold them. I wanted one from the first year but it didn't happen. But his birthday is on his hat, so I'll remember which year it was anyway!

Oh my goodness! The patriotic bear layout is absolutely PRECIOUS! :-)
Thank you. I think they are too.
LOL, i know what you mean by this... But i do remember a partiular instance... when we used to have a glow worm, and it was awesome! Then it got de-battery-packed after my sister was swinging it around... and watching it glow... and it hit one of my uncles in a not-so-glowing place. LOL. I think we all got in trouble for that one...

Yup.
- One build-a-bear-workshop bear that my ex-bf and I made together that's too cute to get rid of
- A smattering of bears that were purchased by a guy who really liked me and was trying to win me over with teddy bears (I think some of them went to goodwill)
- A few trinket-style bears that friends have bought for me through the years
- And a really adorable teddy bear in uniform that a very special friend bought for me soon after we met
Never mind the bears, what happened to the guys? Or should I ask?
Too bad there isn't a "build-a-perfect-guy" store in the mall, huh?

Well, the build-a-bear ex and I are still friends. Nothing gonna happen with that one, though. We're really far too different. *shrug*
The guy who was trying to win me over with teddy bears is married now.
The trinket friends are still friends. Some even still call periodically. lol
The bear-in-uniform friend has a particular penchant for ladies of the raven-haired ilk. My hair is light brown, and I have no plans to purchase raven dye or grow bird feathers, so he will forever remain simply a very special friend.

lol That's funny. I just edited it to add the pic while you were asking about it. Took it on my cell phone and added it. :-)
I got it at Cracker Barrel about 3 or so years ago. The bears on it are fuzzy/furry. The pictures isn't of the whole thing, just the middle (biggest bear) and the bottom two (the bear heads). There's a bit more to the quilt than that. It's in my rocking chair now with my bear in uniform and Fuzz, my Beanie Bear. I'm about to post some pics that'll have a few people going "awwww!" :-)

:beret:
You can only barely see the duckie with the baby bear cuz I took it with my cell phone, and the resolutions isn't that great. They both have duckies, though! That's why he got them for me. I was amazed when I saw them. At the time, my living room was decorated in teddy bears (wallpaper border, trinkets, my teddy bear quilt and more) and my bathroom was decorated in rubber duckies (King George and the ducky, ducky shower curtain, trashcan, mug, shower curtain rod, and the whole shebang). I love duckies and bears!!! :-)
:o
I love it!!
I am just seeing this...bad me.
It's ok, Mel. It's not like it was in one of the ducky threads. :-)
I had a stuffed rabbit that was a favourite when I was a kid, I don't know what happened to it, it's probably in the attic somewhere...or given away. It was a glow in the dark rabbit...and what overly imaginitive name did I give it? Rabby.
I got a christmas bear from my mum as a Christmas present a couple of years ago...it's under my bed, because it keeps falling through the crack between the bed and the wall. I didn't name it...or maybe I did, it's probably named Chrissy
There was a shaggy bear I got a couple of years ago...named Shaggy. Yup, I'm really creative when it comes to names for stuffed animals.
I'd make fun of folks and their stuffed animals, but I've got a stuffed bear in the truck somehwere, buried 'neath the ton of stuff in the passenger's side..it was given to me by the insurance place I deal with, in case I wanted to use it for an entry fee to a special fighting tournament that I wound up not making it to, a couople of months ago!
I had another stuffed animal with me in the truck, but after making sure it was alright with the kids mother, gave it to some distressed-seeming child that was here at the radio stations.
Of course, though, I'm still the Grumpyest of the Grumpye! :thumbsup2:
John :waving:
My prized creature for years though, was a 24+inch plastic salmon mounted on a plastic gold cap brim..I called it 'newsfish.'
It sat on top of the computer I wrote my stories on for years..I used to say it had probably presided over perhaps 10,000 stories. A few years ago, we were having a party here at the station, and the child of a woman someone invited fell in love with the thing..I regretfully gave newsfish to the girl.
I do have a big solid milk chocolate in the shape of a fish, that the foil wrapping of it is done to make it look like a bass..a present from Lady Elona..it's to my right as I write, right here in my office..right?

I never realized a man with a big heart could be considered Grumpye, but it's true. Of course it depends on how one defines Grumpye. I know someone who has been labeled tough, strict, hard among other things, but he has the biggest, softest heart of any man I know and he actually is all of those things, but for the right reasons and in the right instances where compromise should never be an option. So, I believe John just may very well have rightfuly earned his title of "Grumpye", if it's used in that manner. Otherwise, no, you're not grumpye. :P
Thank you, Ladies..I don't know how long it had been since I had thought of newsfish, until I wrote of it today..now I again miss not having it in the office,

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!
:freaky2:
:biglaugh:
He growls too. LOL
I found it quite funny that all that was written on December 4, back when you were still under the persuasion that you were not ever gonna get married again...God is funny like that isnt He?
Chel: Yes. It sold for the initial price I posted. There's now more room in my closet. *shrug* I still have the money in my account at this point, but it wasn't much at all. Only about half of what I paid for the quilt originally.

Does Stevebert count?
Well, I have not seen it demonstrated, but when I met him, he appeared to be a well-educated gentleman, and I am assuming that he can count quite well... at least to 25, I'm certain!

:laughat: Yeah, he can count higher than that, even. But when it comes to my age, he stops at 21! :hypocrite:
See? I KNEW he was a smart man! lol
He is. Only one slip up. He married me. ???
Don't be so hard on yourself, Sis!
Let me do it for you!

I like my gorilla. :D
:beret:
I hear tell that someone gave a gorilla to the g'ir il o' his dreams. :freaky2:
Oh reeeaaalllly now? And who woulda said a thing like that? Eh? :eyebrow:
:beret:
/me raises her hand and waves it madly!
Can i guess? Pick me! Pick me! i know!
:laughhard:
Doesn't that make the gal of a gorilla a girlilla?
John :waving:
Does that mean she'd be somewhat like Godzilla? :o :tantrum:
:beret:
I hadn't thought of it that way, but You certainly seem concerned about the possibility for some reason, Lady Wooby! :biglaugh:

Well, ya know... in the hypothetical sense...
That poor gal. Imagine being likened to Godzilla! Bleah.
*cough*
:beret:
Or Bridezilla...
*cough*
:laughhard: hehe! :laughat:
It seems that a lot of assumptions are being made here. I should probably clarify.
Many years ago (14 or more actually), round about Singles Awareness Day, I received a small gorilla bearing a satin heart in his arms. The small note attached to him read, "To the 'gorilla' my dreams. Love, SV"
Did I say I was referring to something else?
*innocent look*
Oh, but of course! *nods wisely* We knew exactly what you were referring too.
*cough*
:beret:
NOW you do cuz I told ya!
You needin' tenderizin', PF?

John :waving:
mmmmm, chocolate!
I like having a real teddy bear. A stuffed favorite would be the orange care bear that was my last Christmas "toy" gift from my parents.
**HUGS** my Caedon and his AWESOME bear hugs
:cloud9:
He is 15 months old now and has gotten to the point now where he makes this really cool baby noise when he hugs a stuffed animal.
He goes "Mmmm mm mmMM!" like I did when I first showed him how to "hug" something.
I first hugged the stuffed animal and then hugged Caedon.
He makes me smile every time he does it now.
I'll say "hug a bear" and he'll Mmmm mm mmMM! the bear.
Then I'll say "hug Caedon" and I'll Mmmm mm mmMM! Caedon. :-)
The other night he was at my house for a little while.
I "baby-trapped" the house by placing various baby-safe toys in the baby-high zone. It didn't take long before he found AlBearDo.
AlBearDo is really squishy and loveable. Ceadon Mmmm mm mmMM!ed him and smiled.
Then he found the bear I made at the Build a Bear store and Mmmm mm mmMM!ed him and carried him around for awhile.
Then he saw my ty beanie buddy that my brother gave me and Mmmm mm mmMM!ed him, too. He even kissed it!
Then he found my beanie baby koala and Mmmm mm mmMM!ed it.
Then he Mmmm mm mmMM!ed my stuffed rainbow lorikeet.
Then he Mmmm mm mmMM!ed my "I love Australia" beanie baby bear.
Then he found Yankee Bear and Mmmm mm mmMM!ed him, too. :-)
If it looks like a dog, though, it gets a "oof arf." Did you know that zebras and horses and most other things with four legs look like dogs? lol
Haha!!
I love that age! sounds like something ariel would do!
I love that age as well! :-) And I do think of Ariel sometimes when I see him do some things. :-)
**HUGS** Caedon again
*bearhugs* elona
*koala bear HUGS* Dina :-)
Honey Bear huggs RJ
*stuffed duck HUGS Sis*

Well, duck season is approaching in OK, methinks..about Dec. One of our former employees, that I went to school with, told my best friend and co-worker that our chief engineer needs to get two or three ducks from his place.. we have a pond (actually 2-4, depending on how small you call a body of water a 'pond') that is down to about three geese, now.
