goodness gracious great balls of fire :sing:
Just in case anyone wants a chuckle at my expense....
We had just got home from church tonight, and I walk in the door of my bedroom to put my Bible and purse away... and as I turn to exit the room, my eyes are caught by a horrible sight: a huge spider is sitting right beside the door frame.
Me: (standing stock still and screaming) Daddy! There's a huge spider in my room!
(No answer)
Me: (knowing he's upstairs _somewhere_) Daddy, pleeeeeaaaassseeeee! He's huuugggeee!
(Chuckles are heard from my totally unsympathetic brother and sister, and they come running to see... Dad is coming somewhat more slowly down the stairs)
Brother: (saying over his shoulder) Dad, he's not huge. It's a little spider.
Sister: (standing well away from the door frame and laughing at me)
Me: (now sitting with my feet curled up on the bed and protesting) He is _too_ a huge spider!
Dad: (peering down at the spider) He's not _that_ big...
*squish*
Dad: (holding the kleenex out to me) You want 'im?
Me: (shuddering) NO.
Sorry, people, but even having two brothers could not cure me of a horror of spiders. Fish are fine, frogs are cute, lizards are okay, but spiders? They are horrible, ugly, nasty, evil things.
:beret:
I had a friend that had pet spiders
Ruby needs a pet....

Yeah i know but sometimes it just seems so hard and this is the longest i have went and sometimes i feel as if there is no hope. And i am the kind of person that likes to have everything planned out and ready to go and right now i can't so its a struggle. I feel as if my hands are tied behind my back and i can't do anything. But i know if its God's will that i stay in school that he will provide. I just have to keep up the faith and believe in him. I just ask that you guys continue to pray for me because i can use the prayer and you guys can use the practice. :laughhard:
*HUGS* Justin.

1. There is no such thing as "no hope". I'm sure it feels that way, but that situation technically doesn't exist.
2. When you have everything planned out and everything is in order and you're ahead of the game, it leaves no room for God to do something for you and it doesn't allow Him to receive the glory
3. If your hands are tied behind your back and you can't do anything, then that is the perfect position for you to be in for God to show up and show out. Remember Paul and Silas in the prison?
4. If its God's will that i stay in school that he will provide.......... Oh yeah, YOU said that. And that one right there pretty much sums it up.
So....... start praising God.
And I'll go practice praying. :thumbsup2:
Well right now i think i could do anything and you would not come up here cause its cold and snowing. So yeah i dont think you will be coming up here.
Uhhhh..... did you say cold and snowing? :o
Hey, I can ground you from here. :great:
Seriously, cold or snow wouldn't stop me if there was really anything I could do. Love you.

If you need a chuckle....
Main character: Bubby, four years old, hyper as all git out, and cute as a button
Background: His family is quite new to church, and since all this God-stuff is brand-new to little Bubby, he's been getting a tad confused. For example: His favorite Bible story is the one about the alien in the lions' den. :o
Tonight's story: Bubby has been learning all about the Christmas story and wanted to show off his new knowledge to my brother D. So... he takes D to where a nativity scene is displayed in our church, and proudly starts naming off characters in the scene: (pointing to the manger) "there's Baby Jesus... (pointing to the angel) "there's the star".... (pointing to the wisemen) "and there are the three queens!"

You know the reason why Melody thinks your silly is because she has never been where it snows to feel what you are feeling... *The TUBE*
The Tube is my shepherd, I shall want.
It makes me lie down on the sofa.
It leads me away from the Scriptures.
It destroys my soul.
It leads me in the path of sex and violence,
for the sponsor's sake.
Yea, though I walk in the shadow of my
Christian responsibilities,
there will be no interruption,
For the Tube is with me.
It's cable and remote, they control me.
It prepares a commercial before me in
the presence of worldliness;
It anoints my head with Humanism,
My coveting runneth over.
Surely laziness and ignorance shall
Follow me all days of my life:
And I shall dwell in the house
Watching the Tube forever.

AWW well thanks. well i have three more days of school and i am done til Jan. i can't believe it, it has gone by so fast. It feels like i just got stated and now this year is half over. I will be down there sometime during my three weeks of break..... If your lucky i will be down there 2 outta 4 of the weeks....
Yeah I know...Brittani is convinced that you will be here next weekend...that would be great cause it is my Birthday AND the Christmas program at church....You could get in on singing Gloria and Carol of the bells.
I think the reason that I missed you so bad was because we were caroling and I was thinking of you carrying Emily all around the Vets home last year, and also cause I havent talked to you in several days. But...there is always GP. :D
Some pics from Caroling on Saturday. We had a good turnout, I counted 38 in attendance.

ok guys so we are in our final three days of school and today is already over. So i only have two more days of school left.
An i know this may be a shocker to some but i just got my grade for church attendance and i Passed.  Good thing i didn't fail church!
So i only have three more exams and i am done til next year!!!!!
Tsk, tsk. Who're ya tryin' to kid, Mel? Carolers don't wear t-shirts! They have boots, and scarves, and hats, and mittens, and heavy jackets, and ear muffs, and then they _still_ complain about how cold it is. ;) ;)
Seriously, it looks like y'all had fun. :)
And I really like the pic of Emily. She's such a doll. :)
Justin--Way to go!!   You're almost there!
:beret:
Thats what the carolers here wear... although yesterday when i went in to church it was burining up... and when i came out... it was freezing... The weather changes really fast here... from 85 to 45 in 3 hrs... wow!
I just got out of one of my finals... one more tomorrow morning and then i get to work myself to death this christmas to get to go on a misson trip to Guatamaula in feburary. Wonder what the weather down there is like...
~ Chel
Yeah, it was in t he low 80s here this weekend. It didn't get down to 45 though! :o
It didn't get UP to 45 here. :(
All the more reason to come to Florida to join the Dingbats. :thumbsup2:
Justin, thats awesome! There is no way YOU could fail church, you should get extra credit there! LOL
Ruby...yes, here, we wear tee shirts, only one person had on boots, and it wasnt cause it was cold.
I heard on the radio this morning that it was supposed to be over 80 today, and that it was a record high for todays date. They said not to call your friends up in the snow and gloat _too_ bad.
Weatherchannel.com says it is 75 right now.
The children's Christmas party is tonight, as soon as work is over. I'm already exhausted and sore from the past week and this weekend. :sadbounce:

I would just like to take a moment and thank the Good Lord Almighty because i was just exempt from taking the hardest Final at IBC....  you guys don't know how stress free i am right now.....
AND.....
The Vice-Presdient came up to me after class and handed me a letter and told me to plan on coming back in Jan and we will work out the finances.  :cloud9: An i haven't even talked to him about my finances or anything... All i know is last week he asked me if i was coming back and i told him that i wanted to.
Praise God!!!!
So glad for you Justin and especially glad to see God getting all the glory for this. Like you said, if He wants you there, He will provide a way.

currently working on making doll outfits for the girls for christmas. they're getting customized My Twinn dolls!

this is the dress i made for abigail's doll (i'm making pink satin pajamas for jolie's doll, and bought pink bunny slippers)
wow. have you considered making baby clothes and selling them? that is neato! you are a good seamstress...
thank you so much! i have done a LOT of sewing.... baby clothes, kids' clothes, pageant wear (for little girls), weddings, etc. this was my first shot at doll clothes though, and i had to adjust an 18" doll pattern to fit a 23" doll :o the hardest part was expanding & re-drawing the pattern. once that was done, it came together really quick & easy ;)
Have you recovered from your last pageant yet?
I've never heard of these dolls Rissa. That is amazing how much they look like the girls!! How do they do that?
you must mean the costumes for jolie's school play/pageant...... thankfully, yes!
by "pageant wear" i meant like the stuff they wear in little girls' beauty pageants... i haven't sewn for one of those in several years. ;)
sis. mom,
you choose the eye color, hair color, hair style, and skin tone. then you upload (or mail) a photo for the doll artists to choose the face shape, and hand paint any birthmarks or freckles and such. they're pretty expensive, but that's all the girls are getting this year. they've been begging for them for 2-3 years!

Amazing!! That explains why they favor the girls soooo much. They did an excellent job. :great:
Did Darla ever get a Marie Osmond doll of her baby?
not that i know of......
my mom collects porcelain dolls, and she sent in a baby pic of abigail to Marie Osmond. they made an abigail baby that does resemble her, but we never got anything saying that a doll was specifically made after her.
sorry i haven't been in here much today. Got done with the rest of my exams today at one, and just have been looking back on the past couple of months and wondering where it has gone. It has gone by so fast and if you think about it i am 1/4 of my way done with my AA. It has been a little sad today cause some friends had decided to take a different road in life which is leading them away from here, so had to say a few goodbyes. An when i think about it i get a little sad but you know the thing that cheers me up is thinking and knowing i get to go to Florida for a bit... Thats the only thing keeping me from being a little depressed right now. Just know i can't wait to be in Florida as much as i hate it, the only reason is the people there cause it sure ain't the state that i like. Still right now i am unsure when i will be in Florida but just know it is some time soon.

Take the nuts off and give me a piece, please. *Sis holds out plate*
Between the layers is a pumpkin filling consisting of Pumpkin, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and cool whip.
Thats caramel drizzled on the top and over the sides.
YUMMMMM!
The cake looks nummy (I love to use that word!) :)
Do I correctly guess that the cake has a toal of 3,695,418 grams of sugar in it? :)

I have a special prayer need tonight...
One of my favorite little buddies had a seizure a little while ago, and is currently in the ER having tests run on him. :( He's ten yrs old, and the medical folks are saying he has a heart murmur, and that it's somehow related to the seizure. Please, please pray for little Dahnte. He's one of my special buddies.
Daddy is up at the hospital right now with his parents, and I'll post an update as soon as I know anything.
ST
Daddy just got back and says the med people think it's stress-related. *sigh* If anyone has a claim to stress it would be little Dahnte. They don't seem to have any comment on the heart murmur though... don't seem to think it's anything bad enough to worry about.
ST
:(
Im prayin for him.
And I.
John
Thank you! Much appreciated.

I know how you feel cause that's how we were on Tuesday when we got a god snow. Melody just don't have the understanding that we do. She will just find out when she comes up here for Music Fest. An then we can make fun of her.
Nope you sure didnt.

On the subject of cute kids, I was at a police FOP Christmas banquet last night. There's an officer I know, gruff, blunt, very often sarcastic, and that's not on his bad days! :)
Anyway, the main part of it is a family thing, and he has his cutie little girl, maybe six or so years old..I asked around, and my impression that she rules the roost is an accurate one! :)

been SUPER busy getting ready for christmas, and it won't be done until this weekend. finished the girls' doll clothes, and now i'm hemming pants for 2 of the power reach kids that are going to HYC. hope you all are doing well, and not having to fight too many crowds with all the holiday hustle and bustle :teeth:

John--funny how that works. The biggest, most gruff, tough (at least in pretense) men I know all have a little girl (or two or three) in their lives, that has them wrapped around their little finger. :)
Moral of the story: even big, gruff, tough men turn to mush at a little girl's smile. Funny, that.

Justin.
I went by P1st and dropped it in the night box on my way to work. They have to take it now. *shakes head* Those people were dumb today.
WOW O WOW Yall..
Justin and Mom...yall missed it! Bro Crabtree didnt get to preach...well he could have, but he didnt. Bro Monk's Sis in law and Brother got Baptized at the start of the service, then we sang and sang and had chior, and then Bro Crabtree read a few scriptures and wouldnt let the praise singers sit down, then we went into Joy of the Lord and it all broke loose. Tonya dropped her mic, and headed off the platform and went after Stephen, then he jumped up and left, like he was mad or something, so she came up to the alter and had Bro Crabtree pray for her, then she let out a scream, and collapsed in the floor! Jodie got down there with her, and they went to town. Then Giggles shouted so hard Angela and I were waiting for her to fall out. Leicee went up, and got the victory, Kaleb Madden started jumping around and pretty soon Jared and Ron were dancing too. Ron was doing the classic windmill thing he does, I thought he would lose his new teeth! LOL Then back on the other side Carrie took off, and then her and Maria grabbed Missy, and Missy prayed back through. Did a little dance herself. Sis Waltonen was laying across the platform, and I thought for sure she was gonna do her thing she does...and JASON. Oh wow...he was praying, and Jim got a hold of him and he starting jumping and dancing, and I almost came off the platform when I saw THAT! He said later that he just had to get himself a "Jubilee" LOL So he felt something, and couldnt stop it, and he ended up dancing all over the place. Bro Anthony attacked Dallas and Eric, and then Justin Waller was prayin with Bro Anthony later, and ALMOST got the Holy Ghost. I thought Missy was gonna take off again! Sis Kapoi did her thing, and we just all had a blast! It was awesome! I think thats all the folks I saw, but it was thick in there and I know I must have missed some of it. LOL Oh, and Andrew came off the drums and attacked Dallas and Eric too. We got out at 7:30, but the place was still packed out when we left, cause no one wanted to leave.
Mom, we saw Anthony at Applebees. He said he had been going to High Praise, but he would come back over for the Easter Drama. Told him we missed him.
Ok I think thats it. LOL

Yeah, it's a quote somebody I know likes to say.
When we think of somebody in this world that is an important, or wealthy person or a person with high authority or power, it's often said that person is a "somebody". God, being more than anyone here on earth can be He is "somebody".

Guys i am sure you may already know but we need to keep the Kapoi's in our prayers. Bro. Kapoi's nephew was killed lastnight when he was hit by a car, while trying to cross 231. RJ came to church several times with them and road my grandma's bus a couple years. My grandma said he would come to her bus everyday and give her a hug before he went and got on his bus. So remember my grandma to in your prayers as she was sadden when i told her last night.
Teen hit, killed on U.S. 231
By Tony Bridges
BAYOU GEORGE
A teenage boy was killed Wednesday evening trying to cross a darkened section of U.S. 231.
The 15-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. His name had not been released late Wednesday.
Panama City police said he was struck by a 1998 Chrysler in the northbound lanes as he tried to cross from east to west, just north of Bayou George Drive.
The impact threw his body into the median, where it lay, covered by a sheet, at about 6:30 p.m., shortly after the accident. Orange cones marked the spot where his sneakers rested in the road.
Two other boys with him when he tried to cross told police they were headed to a nearby convenience store, said Capt. Robert Colbert, patrol commander for the Panama City Police Department.
Richard Turner, live-in manager of Pac & Stac Storage, said he was sitting on his back porch with his wife when the boy was hit. The facility is on the west side of 231.
"We heard a loud thud," he said. "We thought it was another wreck."
He ran to the front of the building and saw two hysterical boys across the road.
"They were hollering, 'He's knocked out, he's knocked out,'" Turner said.
At first, he did not see the teen's body. There was a bronze-colored sedan pulled onto the median several yards north of the screaming boys, so he ran to check on the driver. The woman in the car, huddled over and upset, told him she had hit someone, he said.
That's when Turner spotted the body of a young man lying in the grass.
"I felt for a pulse," he said. "He didn't have one. There was nothing I could do for him."
He said it is common for kids from the Sweetwater area to cross U.S. 231 near Bayou George Drive to reach the convenience store up the road.
The driver of the Chrysler is a 53-year-old local woman, according to police, but her name was not released.
No charges were filed Wednesday.
Yes, Leicee told Bro Anthony just as church was letting out. Jared was really upset as well. They knew him. The Kapoi's have been thru so much lately.

yeah i told Leicee last night she better tell her three brothers they need to get there butts back in church. Cause in the snap of your fingers you can be gone.
It just shows you how fast things can happen. One minute you're concerned about the cares of this world, then next, you're gone.
We need to be mindful of his family and hold them up in prayer.

Don't you 2 talk on the phone or email any more? :biglaugh:
Nope. Not lately, he lost his phone, I havent talked to him for about a week. He did call from a friends phone yesterday, but I didnt think to ask him that. I just need to know ahead of time, so I can plan my drive. Its gonna be a killer. LOL
And we have never e-mailed. GP has always been our main source of online communication. We dont e-mail, and talking to him on IM is just weird.

awsome jacket Mel. Who's that with ya?
Yeah, awesome jacket Mel, where did you get that?
:D :D
Ok, we were all silver cause we had a wedding, and we all were matching :)
The jacket was a gift from Justin, and Brittani is the girl with me, she is Justin's Girlfriend and one of my "Girls" at church. We matched cause Justin saw to it that we did. :) He has awesome taste in clothes. :)

The Dingbats will get a kick out of this one...well I know Justin will.
Eboni now has a "Remember when Melody Fell?" Story.
I was heating up the last of the black eyes peas I made this weekend, and I was headed into the kitchen to get them. I am wearing my PJs which consist of Sweatpants, a tee shirt and socks. I was just walking along, headed to the kitchen and I hit that tile part in the entryway, and I started to slide...no biggie, I do it all the time, sometimes on purpose cause it is fun...but this time, as my right foot started to slide, my left knee decided to pop out of joint, therefore not enabling me to catch myself. I landed HARD on my tail bone, right there where the carpet meets the tile. I mean FLAT on my back. I never fall flat. I always just sorta crumple, but this time, straight back and flat. So I layed there, and waited for the bus. Eboni didnt laugh, in fact she was over here by the computer, and didnt so much as move. But she was staring at me. And didnt offer to help, which was what I wanted. So I layed there for about a min, catching my breath, and then the stupid phone started ringing telling me I had a Text Message. So after the third ring, I yelled at the phone, told it to "Shut up, Im coming as fast as I can!!" I got up and got my peas and ate supper.
So far, no bruises, but my knee looks swollen and it hurts pretty bad. And not to mention the pain in my rear. Literally. :smirk:

Mel... My knee gave out too when i was in Guatemala... and i was on cobblestone, and ended up rolling my ankle and hobbling back to the motel... lol. It was an experience, thats for sure... I should have waited for the bus too.. REG
*note to self: if you ever go to Guatemala, protect the knees and ankles at all cost* :o
Mel, you need non-skid slipper socks. The ones at Walmart are good. Not too big. For some reason most of them are too big and don't fit like regular socks.

:laughhard: :laughhard:
*sigh* yet another memory to take with me. However, for some reason, I'm thinking Jonathan always said "good" googly moogly. Oh well, doesn't matter, "good" or "great" I can still hear it and it still makes me laugh. :thumbsup2:
Yeah, we say "Good" instead of "great" and it is mostly Jonathan that says it.
Now that's got me thinking of HFG moments:
The boys (including Ron) getting in trouble with Maria for setting off fireworks in the house and then shooting them at each other in the yard
Justin tackling me, trying to get my DL so he could see my middle name (which I wonder if you still remember - not that the name was important, but picking on me to get the name was)
Prayer request time - even though it was all a big joke that everyone knew what everyone wanted prayer for, it was awesome that we had that kind of bond that everyone always knew something they could pray for another.
I remember surprise birthday parties with special Dingbat visitors from Pcola
I remember Dingbat prayer time in the altar at the church in Pcola at the Bro. Stoneking conference.
Pumpkin Cake............... we may never know who's is really best, but I'm thankful that I know 2 people who make it really well. I also remember the first time I had pumpkin cake, I also had Rissa's chicken and dumplings, and I remember sitting on the couch watching Rissa do Jo's hair and the reason that sticks out to me is I was wondering if my hair would ever grow long enough to be fixed up. I wondered, because I still didn't know just how abundant God's mercy and grace is........ and praise God, I'm still learning.
You know, now that I think about it, it's not just the experiences I had with the Dingbats, but it's what I've learned through the experiences that will go with me forever. Through hard times and good times, mountains and valleys, the fun times, the times we were in complete agreement and the times we were in disagreement, two things we can all agree on, I'm sure:
1) God is good
2) Never give up
I love Dingbats! :love2:
Melody, do you remember the matches with the note that was in the music book holder on our pew?
The note said:
Here are some matches, go start your own fire.
It stemmed from conversation that we had about churches being on fire and I told you how I felt like going to the church in Fayetteville was like revival to me. You told me about Bro. LeeJ talking to the youth about them being fascinated with other churches that seemed to be on fire for God and how they wanted that and Bro. LeeJ talked to the youth about not trying to go where the fire is, but starting their own fire.
Can you go where the fire is and still start your own fire?
You are seriously gonna make me cry.
Yes I remember your middle name...and I bet Justin does too. I do remember the matches I gave you. How fitting was that?!? LOL I almost forgot about the prayer request time, you praying for Michael and Me for my job. LOL Jared always prayed for his Bio-Dad and his brother he never sees. Wow. I nearly forgot all that.
And Pumpkin cake...Mine is better...(Im safe saying that here, Rissa has forsaken GP... ;) ) You never know, you might get a piece very soon....:hypocrite:
What about when Michael looked across the table at me and very calmy said "Ya know what? You are a Quackhead"
B-E-A-R :laughhard:
Yep, great memories, Mom. Keep them close to ya, cause no matter where you go, you will always be a Dingbat. Dont forget that.
*HUG*
OK hand over the tissues. :cry2: Great memories. We will always remember ladies conference, oh how we laughed ;) , and surely deaf conference :freaky2: we had some really awesome times, special times of prayer. No matter where you go you will always be in my prayers.
ladies conference? Laughing? ??? Ohhhhhhhhhh!!!! You mean the vibrating beds. Yeah, I didn't even have to put a quarter in mine!!! :laughhard: :laughhard: :laughhard:
Yeah, that was you guys laughing though. It wasn't me. I was being good because I had to preach for 5 minutes the next day. :hypocrite:
Deaf conference - First word that comes to mind .......... awesome!!!!! I knew it was going to be something that would change you both forever, but even though I had been to some deaf conferences before, I wasn't prepared for what I saw and experienced there and I'm glad I shared that experience with the two of you.
*Sis is declairing herself Pumpkin Cake Judge Long story* So let's give that stuff a try, Mel! (http://www.myspacefreesmilies.com/smilies/character00104.gif)
Be careful Sis!!!!!!!!! :nono:
It's much better to just put yourself in a position to have the privilege of tasting both. You do NOT want to volunteer to "judge". :o
Wanting to taste each, or seeing if you can taste a difference is much better. Judging between these two cakes could be very painful, if ya know what I mean. ;)

Nope. Didn't take any leftovers. I figured I was bad enough for a while, a long while considering I ate 2 pieces and one piece was the biggest piece cut, now I have to be good. :hypocrite: Besides, with something that good, it's just wrong not to share with everyone possible. :thumbsup2:
And whats funny is, I have peices in the fridge for Jason, Sis Juila, Sis Leaman, and Lee, our waitress at the lighthouse the other night. I had one peice last night, and that was it. Im not having any more. And we ate a lot more of that cake than I expected the three of us to eat.....well... Mom ate it... LOL But it WAS good, but I got my one peice and the rest is spoken for. Even if Mom didnt take any to go.
So where have all the dingbats gone?

ok guys so i need prayer..... I am just ready to pack my stuff up and come home.... so i need a lot of prayer i only have a few more weeks so i need to just stick it out.... I just read this verse and its helped a bit....
Psalm 31:24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.
That's an awesome verse Justin! I'm not sure what you're going through, but I know how you are feeling right now being so close to being finished. I too am at a point where I want to just take off and go. I just want to leave work, head up to NC and be done with everything here and move on to the next phase. The thing is, we have to stay and see it through. God put you and me both where we are now for a time. A specific time. A season. And we aren't finished with that time yet. Being almost there is harder than being a long ways away. We have to stay the course and see it through and trust that God knows the right time and knew it when He established the time, for you school, for me the wedding date. These dates are not accidental and God knew how hard it would be.
I'll be praying for you.
*eavesdrops*

How did the cake turn out?
Absolutely perfect. Not only was this the best one of his cakes I've tasted, but I think it was the best cake ever, and I mean out of all cakes. Even the color was perfect, like one of those cakes that could be used in an advertisement or something. Also, I understand it's quite difficult to get one of those things baked all the way through without over-baking and this one was just right. I couldn't sleep tonight and when I got up, I could hear that cake calling me and had to go get another piece. :biglaugh:
He took pictures and will be posting them late, if he hasn't already. :great:
Oh yeah, on the bake time, he said you never know the time to bake it and that an hour and 15 minutes was minimum. He baked this one an hour and 40 minutes. :o
So be sure and check it before you pull it out. :thumbsup2:
Yes Ma'am :great:
What on earth kind of cake is THAT that needs over an hour and a half to cook!??!?!?!?! :o
A complicated one.. :teeth:
It is told to be the best tasting cake in all of NC, but I have yet to find out.
can i get the recipie?
Quote from: sunlight on April 15, 2008, 02:32:34 PM

You have to have SunDrop soda to make it. I don't know if another type of soda would work or not.
ok.
hey mel, can you mail me a sundrop?
now can i have the recipie? hehe!
Sundrop is almost like Mt. Dew, you could probably use that. They used to have Sundrop around here but I haven't seen it in ages.

Yeah, it's kinda close to Mt. Dew.
I'll give you the recipe and you could try to substitute Mt. Dew, but I really like SunDrop a lot better.
SunDrop Pound Cake
5 eggs
3 cups sugar
3 cups plain flour
2 sticks margarine
1/2 cup shortening
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp lemon
6 oz. SunDrop
Preheat oven to 325
Cream sugar, margarine, shortening
Add flour & eggs, beat until blended
Add flavorings
Add SunDrop last
Bake at 325 for 1 hour 15 minutes in a greased floured tube pan
(like I said, the 1 hour 15 minutes is minimum, usually takes more)
Enjoy! Let me know how the Mt. Dew works please. :thumbsup2:
hi :hi:
cool beans! thanks!
I have it in the oven. If it tastes as good as the batter does, Im in trouble. I will end up eating the whole thing. :yum: :fork:
Are you making it for a special occasion?
Nope. Just cause. And Im gonna take some to Emily cause she likes cake :D
You want a piece? Ill bring you some to church tomorrow.
yes I do :clap2: Steve had me try sun drop, and I have to say it was pretty good.

But he DID say that....Chel can tell ya! She heard him!

Oh...are you talking about me CALLING him that? What SHOULD I call him? He IS Bro Chapman, but I was trying to differentiate between the two...and I heard Bro Chapman call him "Bro Billy" to me, and you too for that matter.
*shrug*
He's Billy to me because he's my stepson. You call him whatever you want I guess, I was just saying it made him sound like a kid.
OK, I tried the sundrop cake and it was really good. :thumbsup2:
*begins to feel the peer pressure*
The cake is calling my name...
Hey RJ, you need to come to Panama City. You would get to meet the Dingbats in person and I am sure that we could get Melody to bake some of her awesome cakes. Panama City is calling you. Come to the wedding on May 31st.
Still thinking about pumpkin cake.
The pumpkin cheesecake was awsome!
Well, I WAS going to go to Florida in December/January, giggles, but if I use my voucher in June, I probably won't go to Orlando then.
Use it now and come here....I will make you Pumpkin cake, AND Sundrop cake.
Then we can pray and fast the rest of the week. BOL!
Ok...so here was my SunDrop cake. It was a tad too brown, and it stuck to the inside of the pan....BUT...it was SOOO good!
I took the rest to Emily this morning, and tonight we ate some for dessert...and I left the rest over there. I might just have to make another soon :hypocrite:

That cake DOES look yummy! Almost as yummy as the apple cake I like to make sometimes. Mmmmm.
And my voucher is only good for a dozen locations, and your cities aren't among them. I'm sure we'll meet someday, somehow, though!
Well experienced my first earthquake this morning... :smirk:

How did the cake turn out?
Absolutely perfect. Not only was this the best one of his cakes I've tasted, but I think it was the best cake ever, and I mean out of all cakes. Even the color was perfect, like one of those cakes that could be used in an advertisement or something. Also, I understand it's quite difficult to get one of those things baked all the way through without over-baking and this one was just right. I couldn't sleep tonight and when I got up, I could hear that cake calling me and had to go get another piece. :biglaugh:
He took pictures and will be posting them late, if he hasn't already. :great:
Where are the pics of the cake? We never saw them... :sadbounce:
OH! And you have to take some pics of you guys eating the cake that will be arriving tomorrow. :hypocrite:

So last night I got to preach for the first time in Wewahitchka, I called the sermon "the big picture" but i should have called it "the greater harvest" . . . It was pretty good. . .

So Pastor has asked my wife and I to take over the children's church on wednesday nights (ages 4-11) This is so great, right now this is where we want to be at in our ministry ! So all week I have been praying about what we should talk about on the first night : And here's what the Lord has given me. I would really appreciate it if you could give some creative criticism on the lesson (remember i've kept it simple for the ages i am working with)
Tongues of Fire
Ice Breaker:
Who here knows another language?
Who here knows about the holy ghost?
Tonight we're going to talk about the day of Pentecost ?
1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Who all here has been filled with the Holy Ghost ?
Who here doesn't have the Holy Ghost?
Who all here wants to be filled with the Holy Ghost?
Does anyone here know how to get the Holy Ghost ?
38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call
Okay
So there are three steps you must follow when you get the holy ghost ?
First : You must repent !
(does anyone here know what it means to repent ? )
Answer: To repent means to turn away from your sin never to do them again. In order to repent you must apologize to God for sinning and ask him to forgive you.
Secondly: You must be baptized in Jesus' Name !
The Bible teaches only one way to be baptized and that is to be taken under the water competely and pastor calls on the name of the Lord and Jesus' blood takes every bad thing you've done and washes them with his blood and they go away and know one will ever remember them again, not even God himself !
Thirdly : You will receive the Holy Ghost and speak as the Spirit gives utterance.
There is no real way to explain how to get it is? Simply ask Jesus to give you the holy ghost and thank him for it and receive it. The bible says it is a gift. So what happens when someone gives you something you really want, you take it without thinking?
Now can I have a show of hands of those who said earlier that they didn't have the holy ghost?
now those of you that don't have the holy ghost but wants the holy ghost raise your hands?
END OF LESSON
(Pray with those that want the holy ghost)
Just wanted to give everyone an update on the baby thingy... we go to the doc may 15 @ 9:45a. We'll let ya know what the doc says. . . :hi:

We used to do SuperChurch with all the Sunday school kids once a quarter. We had the older kids do everything (Older meaning the high school kids), the preaching, the song service, music ('cept Stevebert played piano) special singing, etc. Of course everything was checked out by Stevebert. A couple of kids thought they were called to the ministry, and we found out they were pretty good at it.
We had puppet shows. Stevebert wrote the script but the kids did the puppets. We also had skits. Once I took a picture of one of the kids throwing a spear. I got the picture with the spear in mid air. I have it around here someplace. LOL
When it became apparent that the teachers didn't think they needed to discipline the kids and treated it like it was their day off, even though they were there, we had to do something.
We went to a Sunday school thingie in St. Louis, put on by the UPCI Sunday School Department, They had a SuperChurch team who gave us lots of ideas. One was they gave out candy to the kids who behaved well, during the service. They gave candy to the kids who had brought their Bibles.
Well, we didn't like the idea of some kids getting candy and eating it during SuperChurch, so we made up SuperChurch bucks. We had the "ushers" pass out SuperChurch bucks to the kids who behaved, the kids who brought their Bibles, the kids who participated when asked questions. When they left and went back to their Sunday School rooms (To take attendance get their coats, wait for the bus, etc), they got a buck for coming to church. That way everyone got at least one buck.
Then I went from room to room with a kitchen cart full of toys. One shelf was for one buck, one shelf was for two bucks and one shelf was for three bucks. They could save their bucks from SuperChurch to SuperChurch if they wanted, too. I got the toys on sale, at party stores where you could get packages of the same things that were inexpensive, catalogs, etc. I watched for sales, and things where there was only one left and they dropped the price to get rid of it. On the three buck shelf I had books from the dollar store, etc.
It was fun but a lot of work. I did all the scenes and props for the skits, bought all the toys, photocopied the super bucks and skits and the kid bulletins and sewed all the costumes.
I haven't been reading much of this Dingbat thread, but if you hadn't already. y'all may think about who wants to start the next Dingbat thread.

So tonight was our (nicole and I) first night in the J-Crew (4-11 yr olds) we had 11 in class tonight seven have the holy ghost and 4 doesn't and we had a visitor tonight , 10 yr old girl named Sky, and she has been going to her grandparents church and we talked about the holy ghost and she told me that they have never talked about the holy ghost.... well i got to explain what the holy ghost was, and man from the time I started the lesson until we finished up with prayer the holy ghost was all over me...i have never felt the presence of God so strong in a class setting. . . then again we gave the kids lots of sugar!!! lol parents are going to love us .... I am so excited about what God's doing in my family's life, I never been closer to God or had such a stable walk . . man i love this apostolic faith ! ! !
where is everyone at ? ? ? So today I bought my wife and myself a ipod . . . melody if you have any preaching dvd's I'd like to borrow 'em :-[]
Check out Mz Ethyl's blog. She has lots of it.
Does anyone know of any place to down load preaching for an iPod ?
Ask Mz Ethyl or Scott. Mz Ethyl is moving this weekend so she isn't available right now.
I havent been able to get my preaching stuff on my iPod, I have three sermons that I have in my iTunes, but they wont transfer to the iPod, so I am not sure how to do that myself. If you figure it out, let me know too.
What kind of iPod did you get? And what size is it?
I just sold my 1G Nano 1gen to Jolene, and I bought a 4G Nano 3gen on eBay. I really wish I had a 40g Nano.

Message Scott, he's done it. Something about putting it on your computer then transfering it to the ipod. Don't have one. Stevebert won't let me use his. *Snaps fingers*

That's so awesome! Thanks Melody.
You know, that made me think about everyone's requests at HFG: (me) Michael, Gerald, Joseph - Answered, Done, (you) a new job - Answered, Done, (Marie) for the house to sell - Answered, Done, (Jared) for his brother - the pic is proof that God has already answered part of that prayer and is still working.
God is great, God is good...... God is awesome!!!
Yeah, last night, Bro Crabtree mentioned about praying for a new job...and Giggles looked at me and we started laughing and it was a serious moment in the sermon, and we were just laughing our heads off. It was great!
God is sooooo awesome. Whenever we need something from God, we can always go back to the answered prayers and be thankful. God is always working on our behalf we just don't always see it. We are all going through a season of change right now; but God is still in control. We just have to remain open to His will in our lives.
speaking of God answering prayers. . heres one of his products : (http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e339/Bro_Jonathan/001_1.jpg)
I got that text this morning, I looked at it and I was like WHAT?
Then I saw who it was from, and I was like OH! Baby! :)

I think you should.... but that's just my opinion and my vote. :great:
Go ahead Jonathan. It has to rhyme and say something about Dingbat 34. LOL
But of course you have been here long enough to know that ;)
you get my pm?
Yup. And I like it. But I dont know what all to add to it.
Whoever starts the dingbats thread better hurry up!
It doesnt HAVE to be locked at the very START of page 21...you could leave it...its not like we (the dingbats that is) abuse the thread locking deal on this thread.
You dont have to be so lock happy all the time... LOL It could have 513 posts and still be ok.
