"Do you know where liars go? They go down, and down, and their hair is burnin..."
no mam!
OOOOHH ! That's from a Cosby album. He was sleeping with his brother. Dad kept coming in and yelling at them to be quiet. Dad wanted to know why everything was wet (They had a water fight). Bill lied. He said a man came in the window and threw water all over, and they told him to stop but he just laughed at them.
Dad said, "Do you know where liars go? They go down, and down, and they're burnin' and their their hair is burnin..."
Bill: Yells while crying, "I don't wanna be burnin'"
Dad: Then tell the truth!
Bill: The man came in here!
lol, i love bill cosby, you remember chicken heart?
Thump thump. NO. ROFL I know where liars go, though.
Remember Why is there air? To fill up basketballs, of course!

i have a bunch of old time radio shows, and have a bunch that was of bill cosby, i love them. thats one of my collections
Ah, my mom had a record of Bill Cosby stand up and that story was on there. I LOVE his stuff. I also loved his book about marriage and someone who was surprisingly funny was that guy from the show Mad About You, with Helen Hunt. I can never remember his name but his book had me cracking up!

Have you ever gone to cooking school or taken any kind of cooking classes or did you teach yourself?
when my father was married to my step mother, when i was 11 to 18, her brother was a chef, and i got to go to his resturant alot! i loved it, and have cooked ever since. mostly after that i am just self taught. i am one of those i can go to a resturant, and go home and pretty much make what i ate there. i dont measure hardly anything anymore. i keep saying i would love to go to chef school, but alas someone as old as me better not lol

Mz. Ethyl, I got a ? for ya...
What is your calling or field of ministry you most feel burdened about? I know there is millions of avenues to choose from, but which one really gets you empassioned?
the homeless.
so many run from homeless people. but after being homeless on the streets of houston texas, i learned that not all homeless folks are there by choice. its a forgotten field. most wont even offer rides to church or take the message of Jesus to them. and especially homeless children, in the united states we had over 3,000,000,000 homeless children under the age of 14! (this was the stats for like two years ago, would hate to know what it is now. sigh
Going to cook anything good tonite?

What is your greatest desire for the kingdom of God?
wow, tough question, but i think my greatest desire is to just see people learn to love and accept each other within the "church" so we can better reach the lost that look at us and wonder how God could love them if we cant love each other.
how did you get into working on computers?
when i was in a head on collision i was paralyzed in a wheelchair for over three years, and building them and stuff is what they used for my rehab to make my hands and arms work again. i had done other stuff before then but that was what got me into the most.
If you could start any business with all startup costs paid for you, what kind of business would you have?
well.......i have been trying to get my own computer repair shop going again. i used to own my own business when i was married but had to sell it when we divorced and just never got another one going. i have the "perfect" business idea, but never have been able to get it into play. not really one for "big" business, always just wanted a small shop to call my own.
You tried Cubis again today? I got board 67 today. Need to go work on that. :loopy:
i only got past the first board once..............
after ten times, i said enough lol
I remember those days, then suddenly, I got up to 8!
yeah, i just dont have the patience for games much.......i do things in spurts. and dont do well with timed things..........games that i can play a min or two and can walk away from is ok..........i do play the sims some.....
Bubbleshooter? It's not timed!
Stevebert had sim city. Don't know if he still does. He used to have Flight simulator but he got tired of crashing. He started crashing on purpose, then 9/11 happened. It wasn't so much fun anymore.
the sims is a cool games, you make your family, then build them houses and buy the furniture, and they live lives and stuff, i have all the add on games.......they can go shopping, to amusement parks, pet stores all kinds of stuff..........
i have one game i have been playing on for two years now..........they have a huge family now lol
*Sis slips out to play Cubis* I'm on board 102...

If fuzzy wuzzie wasnt fuzzie then what waz he?
a hairless bear.....................
now for some fuzzy wuzzy trivia:
Fuzzy Wuzzy was the term used by British colonial soldiers for the nineteenth century Hadendoa warriors supporting the Sudanese Mahdi. The name "Fuzzy Wuzzy" may be purely English in origin, or it may incorporate some sort of Arabic pun (possibly based on ghazī, "warrior"). It alludes to their butter-matted hair which gave them a "fuzzy" look. Fuzzy Wuzzies are remembered today primarily for a popular English children's rhyme, and for a poem by Rudyard Kipling.
This nickname, almost a pet name, was probably also a deliberate attempt to make a ferocious enemy seem less awesome, less terrible, since it was quickly found out that: '...without a doubt, these Arabs are the most fierce, brave, daring and unmerciful race of men in the world.' [Sgt Danby, 18th Hussars, quoted in The Late Victorian Army, 1868-1902, Edward M. Spiers, Manchester U.P., 1992]. These are qualities which Kipling's soldier acknowledges, but he has to make a joke of them as he makes the admission that they broke the British square.
* The Four Feathers, a novel remade into multiple movies, depicts battles with Hadendoa soldiers. The 1939 film version contains a mid-action caption which refers to 'Dervishes and Fuzzy Wuzzies'.
* In the British sitcom Dad's Army, Lance-Corporal Jack Jones frequently tells anecdotes about his encounters with the Fuzzy Wuzzies. In approximately ten episodes, whilst brandishing his bayonet (which he calls 'the cold steel'), Lance-Corporal Jones comments that "they don't like it up 'em".
* Referenced in See No Evil, Hear No Evil by a confused Gene Wilder who exclaims, "What! Fuzzy Wuzzy was a woman?"
* In the Animaniacs skit "Dot's Poetry Corner," Dot Warner recited the rhyme, adding a twist: Dot revealed the bear changed his name to Ed Asner.
so in actuality fuzzy wuzzy really wasnt a bear. :)
howd ya get so smart? :)

the story of ethyl goes quite a ways back.
i have a sister that is 5 days short being a year younger than i.
we were put up for adoption when i was 1 1/2 and she was 6 months old.
on my oldest son's second birthday debbie and i met. that was in 1982.
will save the rest of that story for another time.
a few years later, our children were in 2nd and 3rd grades. she had two and i had two.
when my oldest was in 3rd grade all four of the kids wanted us all to do something fun for halloween. took awhile to think of something but somehow we became ethyl and myrtyl.
at first it was just something with my sister and i and the kids, but it seemed everywhere we went that day people fell in love with the two ladies from swamp hallow tennesee.
we started out at my fathers house, then went to the grocery store in the small town we lived in. our friend that was the grocery store manager loved our act so much he paid us to stay for a couple of hours and entertain his customers.
after that we drove through sonic to get us all something to drink. and caused quite a ruckus lol
this lady that was in car next to us came over and asked us if we had time to follow her to work. she worked at a nursing home and said she just knew the residents would love us to death.
so off we went to see the elders of the town. was a riot to say the least.
in the end the director of the nursing home offered us a job as activities directors, lol
things just grew from there. i was in a UPC church at the time, and we made several appearances to church activities, and even got to do part of a service. was my pastors birthday.
after that we appeared at bible schools, sunday schools, womens conferences and all kinds of stuff.
being that my sister was not pentecostal however did put a kink in things and after awhile ethyl and myrtyl had to part ways.
ethyl taught at several ladies conferences and meetings over the next few years. and made appearances at other churches as well.
the assembly of God churches loved her. lol
ethyl has been alive and kicking ever since. you never know when or where she will show up next.
so basically mz ethyl was born around 1988
that is too cool! /me hugs ethyl

Quote from: Tsalagi on April 14, 2008, 03:13:46 AM
Dear Mz Ethyl,
What's yore fav-o-rite recipe for possum?
Sweet Taters and Possum
First catch a young fat possum. Remove the fur either by skinning
or by soaking the possum in hot lye water, being careful not to
get any on the hands. Clean, take off the head and feet, and wash
well.
Salt the possum well inside and out and freeze overnight either
outdoors or in the refrigerator compartment.
When ready to cook, peel 8 sweet potatoes and boil them tender in
slightly salted water to which 2 tablespoons of butter and 1
tablespoon of sugar have been added. At the same time, stew the
possum tender in a tightly covered pan with a little water.
Arrange the potatoes around the possum, strip with bacon, sprinkle
with thyme or marjoram, or with pepper, and brown in the oven.
Baste often with the drippings.
Serve hot.
now that sum good eatin rite there! :fork:
