Ok, so we've got a lot of bubble shooter addicts in here, so I thought "Let's have a competition!!"

I thought we'd do it a bit differently, not just "high scores" - so here are the rules:
You have to try and clear the screen as quickly as possible - so what we're "measuring" for is the LOWEST score IF you cleared the screen.
If you didn't clear the screen, your score doesn't count.
Obviously, we're working on an "honour" system here - since no one can check and all that... so be honest!!
What I'll do is as people post in their scores, I'll create a "leader board" in a post - then you can "quote" the leader board and insert your score either above or below, etc... When you post your score, post the TOTAL SCORE - with score PLUS bonus. (so it would be double what your score would have been without it)
Each person can only be on the "leader board" once - that prevents someone from having something like 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 7th places all at once ;)
When you post your score, post "Score, bonus, total" just to make sure you don't accidentally just post the pre-bonus score.
Once your name is on the leader board, you're really just trying to beat your own score/improve your "position" if you know what I mean - so don't post EVERY score you get - only if it's better than the one that is "recorded" in here, ok??

And Mel - no we're not timing the game - I just said as "quickly" as possible because often, I would try and make the game go longer and longer so that I'd get higher scores. That's why I thought we'd do the "opposite" way of scoring - because the "high score" is limitless, it's just dependent on how long you want to keep the game going and going... I thought this way actually takes a bit more skill... the other way just takes more time!!
Ok..a few more questions....what if I clear the screen and post my score, and then I do it again and get a higher score and there isnt 10 people yet...do you delete my lower score and keep the higher one, or what?
And can I play my desktop version, or do I have to play the online version?
And can Tricia be banned from compeating?
lol - maybe we can keep TWO scores each - would you prefer that? But if it gets really popular, I might cut it back to just one score each. But yes, our lowest score would be the one that counts if we beat our other score (since we're trying to get the lowest score instead of the highest - lower is better!!)
Does your desktop version work and score and everything EXACTLY the same as the online one? Or is it a bit different? If it's exactly the same, just play whichever is easiest...
And Tricia can compete, maybe she'll make it more fun ;) Give us something to aim towards ;)
Yes, the desktop is the same, except, I dont have to be online...and with my un predictible internet access, I have to use the desktop version.

Hey Mel-Mel - I think that maybe if you play it online you get a lower score, cos my bonus is ALWAYS the same score as more "score" - maybe you get extra bonuses that are good for if you want a high score but bad if you want a low score. If you were playing online and you scored 89,560, your bonus would be 89,560 and your total would be around 180,000!! MUCH lower!!
I just got a really low score again, but it was still higher than my other score so I couldn't add it in here ;) It was around 48,000ish...
A "clue" to finishing it quicker - if you can get rid of a couple of colours, it makes the game go faster - so sometimes I deliberately try to get rid of a colour, if I have the choice of putting the ball in a few different places, you know what I mean??

yeah - the problem is - if you're down to two or three colours and can't get it "all gone" - the score rises REALLY fast!!
I think the reason why my score is so low is because I've been playing "that way" for a while - so I've had lots of practice!! I started out trying to get a really high score - but the online "high score" board changes every day or so - so I'd spend all this time getting a really high score and it wouldn't stay there!! So I figured there was no "point" in trying to get it really high like that...

Oops - I wrote it wrong - I checked it a few times - both my score and bonus were 17,820 (they're always the same) - I must have hit the wrong key when I was typing the "score" one in!! 17,820 x 2 is 35,640!!

ok, the game keeps cheatin me..... i get down to 2 bubbles, one each of two colors, and then it pops in like 5-8 new lines! :mad: i'll never get a lower score at this rate!
That's what I don't like about this game. I've done pretty good a few times, but I can never clear a board because I get down to a few and then it pops up several lines. Oh well, I'll enjoy watching ya'll compete.

i'm also beginning to notice a lot of inconsistencies.... one time i can shoot a bubble through the gap between two, and another time i try the same move and it sticks to the side. you can't play effectively if you don't know for sure where the bubble is going to go :smirk2:

I think that Nicole has invented this little game here so her and her husband can be at the top of the leaderboard, and drive the rest of us insane!!!
I have wasted HOURS and maybe even DAYs of my life playing this ridiculous game, and trying to beat them. The one time that I even made the cut, it was pure luck, and it will most likely never happen again....in fact, I know it wont cause I have been playing and playing and playing and have not come even remotely close to beating even my own score...
I am so frustrated. But yet, I still play this stupid game....

I haven't been in the competition, but I have cleared the board once, and my score jumped to an amazing 120,420. I'm shocked!
Some of my other highs were, 105,480 and 109,550.

Uh, I just played another game and cleared the board with a score of 54,240 (27,120 + bonus). That should now give me two places in the top 12. By my calculations, that will put me in positions 6 & 10. My next goal is the top 3.
