 Sorry it's been a bit since I got in here...
So, yesterday, I went to Russellville to get some things, and Lou let me buy my dream grill- a PitBoss Austin 1000XL pellet grill. This thing has enough room to cook 50 burgers, can flamebroil, smoke, grill- it's amazing.
The down side is, Lou helped me unload it when I was putting it together. It fell on her finger, cutting it and it required a trip to the ER and 3 stitches. :pound:
But the steak and shrimp I cooked on it were amazing.
The quarantine thing is playing hob with my church, as well as others. We've all became televangelists, and with our sorry internet in my area, it's not going great. Someone needs to "sow a seed" in my televangelist ministry, so I can get decent internet. :lol:
 Oh well, we will do whatever we have to. We will survive. The church is in a never before seen place and we will have to adapt and go beyond the walls...

We tried that video streaming thing yesterday. Pastor opted to use facebook live, so anybody without facebook was out. Fortunately I'm the only one I know of in our church who does not have facebook, and I was running the sound board and camera.

We did a full service, singing and preaching. (We skipped the offering, but they sent out a text about using the Tithley app.) Turns out when the pastor preaches to a mostly empty building and a camera he sounds just exactly like when he preaches to a full house. Facebook live gives metrics so we could see that people actually were tuning in - we peaked at 69 viewers.

It's a wonderful time to be a nerd. Before I left for church I borrowed uncle Fred's phone and connected it to Grandma's TV. Miracast (screencast) dongles rock. When uncle Fred and aunt Lucy came over, uncle Fred swiped over to his facebook and they watched the service on the big screen.

We did the Facebook live from our house yesterday.  A small church, 10ish members.  It was us and our neighbor yesterday, and we started.  We had 124 viewers when we finished, and have 300+ views on the video of today.  But we also have had over 500 engagments!  That makes me very happy.

We did our service via live stream, FB live, and Instagram Live. They had singing 2 songs, and then Pastor preached an hour.
Shortest service in the history of our services. lol Alas not the shortest message Pastor has ever preached.

From my count I saw 16 people there though. Sure hope they don't get caught and fined for having more than 10.

With all this stuff about corona virus... I bet that beer is gonna have to change its name.


About the service streaming, this may mark a turning point in our church. For many a moon I have advocated streaming services because we have elderly people who can't come and some people who don't come but would watch it, but the pastor has always demurred. Last Sunday we DID have some of those people who would not have been at church watching it. The pastor has begun making noises about streaming services every week, even after this virus blows over.

It's been busy around here with 4 kids. Just trying to keep up.

I've done very little. Cook, eat, play with sanding on the corvette. Enjoying the lack of people.

@Work. Been here 3 days this week. I can't remember when I posted last without looking it up.

Rainy/dreary yesterday, and cloudy/foggy again today. Lots of sinus fun with that.


One perk of the current pandemic, is that the roads are sooo much less congested when I commute.

I still am hoping to get to stay home eventually (not sick of course lol) in order to work on my house projects, but our job is considering themselves essential, so I'm clearing up some of my work backlog instead.

Wednesday, my day off!

I'm not going anywhere and there's nobody around to look at me funny when I sneeze and sniffle. So I had a bowl of chili for breakfast and put a disturbing amount of cheese in it.

I sure will be glad when this virus thing blows over and I can eat cheese again on days when I have to be out in public.

I'll be glad when it is over with as well, although I AM getting some stuff done. The biggest issue is I am staying up until 2 am then sleeping until 12pm...like I'm back in high school. From info I am getting for the job we will be "working" from home most of the time- they've got us working basically 2 days a week at the office, when I go back.
I've cleaned out the shop, finally was able to mow the yard, or most of it- the back of the yard, I'd still need pontoons to cut. I've sanded down the hood of Chey's corvette and most of the front fenders, and have a gallon of primer on the way from Summit Racing, it should be here tomorrow or Friday.

I'm glad no one is coming visiting though. I look like a total slob- unshaven, and if I'm just out in the shop, I don't even put my dentures in. I'm sure I will be featured prominently on nationwide news, when I am surprised by a tornado.

Didn't go to bed until 4 am. Then, at 8 I am awakened by an accidental phone call from work. Just after dozing back off, Lou wakes me up- to tell me she had given the dog his medicine. I have NO idea why that was so important I had to be wakened.
 I'm gonna go play in the shop for a while I guess.

LOL. My luck at MY house... if I didn't tell someone I gave someone medicine, that patient would get medicine again!

Shew Lord. I thought I would "straighten up" the RV port, since the area behind the Scotty camper was a first class disaster. The RV Port was built for the previous owner's 32' fifth wheel, so there's a large space I can used to store junk in behind the 13 ' Scotty, and boy did I store junk. The straightening up turned into a project. I now know that I've got a spare set of tires for Lou's car, a spare set for Lou's old car, two tires that I have no idea what they came off of, and a tire from Rusty. Apparently my packrat tendencies hit when it is tire buying time. I know what it is- back when Lou and I first married money was none existent. If we needed a tire, we were out of luck. I guess I subconsciously figure we aren't going back to having to worry about tires- if the takeoffs are decent, I've saved them when we put new tires on.:lol: 15's,16's 17's,20's.... I've got 'em.

I've also "found" a trailer load of scrap metal to haul off when the scrap yard opens back up, and a trailer load of junk to haul to the dump; cut a bunch of limbs that needed cut; mowed and weed eated; and wore myself slap out.
The primer came in for the Corvette and I'm too tired to carry the box to the shop..lol

Did more cleaning today. Tinkered with the projects some more. Had a bit of conversation with God while doing so. The thoughts from that are now partially chronicled in Roscoe's Ramblings thread. I thought about posting them on the church website, but might wind up preaching it instead..

I've not gotten out of my night clothes. Lou is about to wear out the new grill. She thawed steak, chicken and shrimp out, has put together shish-kabobs, and had me fire up the grill. I've got to go back to work to keep from eating myself to death....

In an effort to keep Grandma supplied with little frozen meals, I made a big pot of chili last night. Today when I was at church running the camera and sound for our streaming, I swiped an industrial size roasting pan from the kitchen. (I asked the pastor first.) It is currently in the oven making an industrial size batch of pear cobbler. That also will be cut up into little portions and froze.

Turns out that lazy day cobbler recipe is downright delicious. I made a test batch last Wednesday and me and Grandma promptly ate almost all of it.

Going back to work tomorrow. Kinda concerned. One of our drug court participants, who I have dealt with daily up until about two weeks ago-works with his dad in a tow service, spending a lot of time in a truck cab with him. Found out today that the dad died of Covid-19 Friday.

Saturday was.. interesting. Watched my hometown get struck by a tornado. No fatalities and only 22 injuries. Lots of damage obviously. Home church is fine, but some families lost their homes. Sounds odd, but thank the LORD for COVID-19. It saved many, many lives. The mall got hit, and normally at that time of day on a Saturday - it's PACKED out with people.

I noticed that. That was a massive storm system...
Back at work. Looks like My work days are Monday and Wednesdays. Rest of the time, I'll be working from home, which should be interesting.

Just made a grocery run. That was interesting.

A friend was giving away some guinies. They are funny looking.

Guianas. They be stupid birds. But they will eat up ticks like no one's business. I did a half day work from home....took Chey to her school, which, being small with about 12 kids, has set up a system where one kid is in the gym, one in the classroom, one in the lunch room, and one in the office, each with a teacher, two days a week to score and get the assignment for the next two days. I decided that since our power was out, I might as well go by work, so I spent a couple hours there before returning home to work from home. Answered some emails, did some office visits by phone, and went out and worked a bit on the Corvette and on Sam's fender. The fender is almost ready to prime, as are the front fenders and hood of the Corvette. I'm hoping it'll be 70 and sunny this weekend and I can get that part primed, but I'm not really expecting that.
 I hate the whole virus thing, but I AM getting some stuff done at home that has needed it..

Power is out?

Bobby you seem like the kind of guy who would have a standby generator that kicks in and powers essential circuits every time the power goes out. (Essential - fridge, freezer, air conditioner, phone charger...)

What's going on over there? Storm knock power out? Also when do they expect to have it back on, or have they given an estimate?

Yeah, storm came through and knocked over a tree on a power line apparently. They had it back up by noon. The big onsite generators are too expensive for me to make one worth getting. In a bad situation I DO have the generator that I use for camping- It'll power the two freezers, so we would be alright.
Getting through the week. Just got word that a close friend who is a member of our court system has been confirmed to have Corona. It's been several weeks since I saw him though, thank God. I'm praying for him- it worries me because he is older and has had heart issues in the not real distant past, and another member of the local court system who works closely with him just overcame cancer and has just one lung due to the cancer..
This stuff could really hit our area hard, and people are STUPID. Petit Jean was so packed this last weekend that you could not keep 6 feet distance from people if you tried and from the videos I saw, no one cared.
Man, I am going to work and to home- that's it. Thank God Lou's job is not dealing with the public, and I am praying protection on her as well.

Yeah I saw some people doing the house party thing around here. Uh... that's the OPPOSITE of what we're going for here. Places are closed to PREVENT crowds, not allow you to be off w*rk so you would be free to make them.

Makes me want to dump a load of pollen in their central air to make them all sneeze a lot, then tell them they all got the virus.

Ok. When the virus confined us to our homes- I didn't holler much. When it turned me into a televangelist, I stepped up. When it jacked with my job hours, I rolled with the punch. When it cancelled my vacation, I made lemonade with the lemons. But now, it has crossed a line. They have just cancelled my Petit Jean June Swap Meet for the first time in 62 years.:mad: :mad:

Ooooh... gonna take a lot of sugar to make lemonade out of that.  Sorry to hear that.

But at least you and yours are not sick. That's not sweet enough to make lemonade out of a canceled swap meet, but it's a start at least.

Yeah. If we can all stay healthy, I won't be too upset about the swap meet, no matter how much I love and enjoy it. That's the main thing to be sure..

Now I will have to make up an excuse to come and torment you.  Not that I need much of one.

Day 2 of Carpool. Husband's work car is in the shop again on Day #2, but hopefully will be finished today. Not the hugest deal if not, because I won't go anywhere this weekend anyway and he can drive my car to work tomorrow. BUT it would be nice for Monday to not have to carpool again. lol..

Sadly, it is raining again.

I told my uncle that since the swap meet is cancelled, when the virus is finished, we need to take a week and go back out on Route 66.. That may be what we do, maybe in August or September.

Some people get all the luck. I can't even legitimately stay home. Our w*rkplace is an essential business.

Really? Essential? People have become so incompetent in the kitchen that they can't open a can of beans and warm it in the microwave? Operating a can opener is above the average southwest Tennessean's culinary ability?

You can get almost anything in a can - fruit, beef stew, chicken and dumplings, tamales - and a microwave doesn't take a college degree to run. And a fast food factory is still deemed an essential business?

Oh well, at least I'm still getting a paycheck.

Long weekend. Headaches every single weekend. Thankfully it went away on Sunday eventually. Had to go to the church to do the deposit and then shopped at Kroger for our elder neighbor lady from church. I did NOT want her to go out not just because she's older, but because she gets confused and I'm afraid someone would say something to her and it'd be a huge ordeal. She's a sweetheart and people misunderstand sometimes.

Seeing as I'm one who's partaken in many, many "essential" drive-thrus since the stay-at-homes have been issued, I'm grateful they are Lynx. So thank you nonetheless.

:hi: Back at work for the first of three days...One of my coworkers, just tested for Covid and is awaiting the results. She has symptoms and has been in court with our prosecutor who has it. They are making us check our temps daily- any fever and you are out.
I will be so thankful when this is over. Stress, stress and more stress. Would appreciate prayer for a family matter too.
But in the middle of the storm, God reminds me of His blessing. I just found out I got my career service bonus for ten years with the state. Around 500 bones after taxes..

I'm surprised that if there has been exposure - that they're not just asking you to quarantine at home. Too many people haven't had symptoms for that to be safe, in my opinion. We are closer here to having to stay home from our essential workplace, but not yet! Our electricians are getting more nervous every day, and the unemployment stimulus is really almost too good for most people to pass up.

Yea if anyone comes in contact with it here they're allowed to quarantine for 14 days.
I've had 3 pharmacists so far with it.

Our agency is only quarantining if you have direct exposure. If my coworker's test returns positive, at that point we will probably be quarantined.

:hi: Good Morning. Got results back on coworker- she does not have it. So that's a relief. Back at work, hopefully for the last day of the week. That's one thing I must admit to liking about all this- I could get use to working three days a week and getting paid for five.
I am considering going to a drive through in a bit and dragging in some breakfast. I'm a tad hungry.

I've laid around today. Back is hurting, it does this flare up from time to time. It's been raining off and on and is supposed to be bad weather tomorrow. I guess I'll go to the church tomorrow and upload something- it just doesn't seem like Easter.
I know it may be a while before we get back to normal, but I am SO ready for it.

I have nothing to post. Going to w*rk, coming home, church livestream on Sunday morning and Wednesday night...

The high point of my week was Thursday. I made a cherry cobbler with five cups flour, five cups sugar, five cups milk, four sticks butter and a LOT of dark cherries and vanilla.

That wasn't the high point. The high point was I had to run to the store for butter, and while there I made a detour by the ice cream to see what they had. I found a tub of Blue Bell peaches and homemade vanilla. Haven't had that in years, so I bought it.

Yeah, that was the high point of my whole week. On the other hand the lowest point of my whole week wasn't very low either. In fact I can't think of any low point that was low enough to be noticed as such.

I was woken up this morning by multiple alerts. First severe thunderstorm then 2 different tornado warnings then a flood warning. It was pretty intense around here for a while. Now the sun is shining. :shine:

We had another wave come through in the afternoon with crazy strong winds. We have limbs all over the yard.

Was crazy windy here last night too. The "cold" blowing in. Dumb weather. :roll:

It's getting a bit chilly here as well. Doggone April done gone as bipolar as its annually diametric opposite October.

Going to make mini cheddar meatloaf for supper tonight. Can't wait.

If I have time and energy afterwards, I might also make the breakfast casserole for us to eat on as well.

My dad found out last night that I was going to be making a meatloaf and about fainted. I've not always been a big fan of meatloaf night, hahaha. BUT the miniature cheddar ones are better than the originals. I always ate my dad's meatloaf anyway... I just don't understand why people order it out at a restaurant. I can't bring myself to trust restaurants with that, hahaha.

:hi: We had a heckuva storm come through Sunday night. Petit Jean State Park lost over 200 trees, and the south side of our little town got hammered. Our office was missed by two trees that fell by less than a foot. And these trees were massive- probably 50 -80 years old. It destroyed the power line though and they say it may be tomorrow or even Friday before we have power.
 As a result, on my "work" days, I gotta drive to Conway. Today, working from home, I found a new recipe for smoked pot roast style chuck roast. So my smoker's been going for a bit with a 3 lb or so fresh chuck roast, and it's cooking low and slow. And I've got homemade bread in the oven. This staying at home has to end or I'm gonna be 400lbs with my recipe experimenting........

And I LOVE meatloaf if it is done right. One of my favorites is, of course, a smoked meatloaf. I substitute the ketchup most people put in it for Sweet Baby Ray's  BBQ sauce, and wrap it in bacon while smoking. Sadly, Lou and Chey don't like meatloaf at all, so I don't make it very often. But there is nothing like a left over meatloaf sandwich.. :fork:

This is precisely why I need to find a lady who prefers milk chocolate. I would never have to worry about her getting into my stash.

Hubby doesn't have to worry about me getting into his stash of dark chocolate, that's for sure. I don't like that bitter stuff.

The chuck roast was great. And Lou leaves my dark chocolate alone for sure. But it would take me a week to eat the entire meatloaf by myself, and I'd be burned out on it.

Roscoe, you should make the mini meatloaves. You can freeze the ones you aren't going to eat in the week. They're SO good. :) May not be what you like if you prefer the classic meatloaf taste, but you could probably just do small versions of what you like.

That's the recipe I made. They are SO delicious. We baked for 50 minutes instead of 45, btw. :) I also used Dijon Mustard instead of regular because that's what I had.

Yes, dijon should always be substituted for "regular" mustard in anything. :teeth:

Oh come on Bobby! Laptops, tablets and smartphones all have batteries, and can be run off an external battery pack... and any smartphone can hotspot (if the service provider allows it.) Your w*rkplace could have brought in some battery packs and USB cables to act as charging stations, turned some hotspots on for internet connection and kept going.

Just be sure to sit by the window. It gets dark further into the building.

Nelle, thank you for the meatloaf idea.  I love meatloaf.  Fried chicken is my #1 favorite food, Meatloaf is #1.1 or closer if possible.

Chelleebelle really likes it from Olive Garden.  This was pretty easy to make, and after doubling the recipe we ate it for 2 meals.  The second day was better than the first. The soup had thickened just a bit.

The only sad thing about the meatloaf.. is that it's already almost gone. Next time I'm doubling the recipe.

That soup looks yum. My favorite is minestrone, but I think my husband really likes that one too. We might have to try it. Soups and chili always seem to be better day #2.

I've made a replica of Olive Gardens zupanna tuscana soup. OMW. SO GOOD.
Was messy though. Had to brown the spicy Italian sausage first. I made it all in my instapot though. Still took forever haha.

I don't understand this at all... if there are leftovers I default to them before I will cook. Leftovers are awesome!

I mean I can observe it does happen. My uncle Fred is always throwing out old stuff that started growing mold in the fridge. I know there are otherwise completely sane people who for some reason defer eating leftovers until they are not edible. But I can not understand it...

 Hauled a load to the dump. Went and picked up a new transmission for Sam, and did some cleaning on it. We then loaded up and went through a drive through for dinner. Tomorrow if it is pretty we will have porch service- otherwise, we will be back to posting online. I am so ready for this stuff to end...
 And I'm sitting here looking online at motorhomes again. Why I don't know, since we can't afford one, and would only use it once or twice a year, but Lord I want one..

Specifically it's like Christmas as an adult, not Christmas as a child. Christmas as an adult, you know doggone well who paid for it, and it wasn't some fat guy in a red suit. :p

Urgh. Back at work. Iced coffee  is all that is getting me through this morning.
As far as what all I have gotten, Lynx, let me think- I have tires for a four wheeler ordered for Kim. Shoes for Lou. A gasket set for Sam. A turbine paint system for me, when I paint Sam and the Corvette. A power washer hose kit for my power washer that a friend destroyed and did not offer to help fix. A vacuum sealer for my food. And I'm thinking there's a couple other items I have forgotten. I've done a lot of ordering online for delivery things that I usually would have gone to the store and picked up.

I expect today will be a case of me working to fix everything on my caseload, then I'll spend the rest of the week doing nothing until firearms day Thursday and Friday...

I'm that way with shoes.. LOL.

Going to eating chicken cordon bleu tonight with carrots and broccoli, a side salad, bread, and a slice of lemon pound cake. Local restaurants are really pushing family deals for good prices, so I thought I'd finally try out this new place in our little town. Jeremy's going to be eating the shrimp scampi it comes with - because I don't eat shrimp. :)

@Work. Just ate leftover cod for lunch and everyone hates me.. LOL. I don't care tho. They eat weird things and spray gross things all the time, so I figure if I eat something gross once in a rare while.. we're even, haha.

Not sure what we are eating tonight. I'm not even home all day cooking, and I can't hardly stand the "What's for dinner?" daily discussion haha. I want to meal plan but I can't get the husband on board for that meeting. Hopefully soon!

I have no idea what we are having tonight either. And in regards to weird food eaten by coworkers-one of my former coworkers was a health food nut. I can't even pronounce half of what she ate, but it universally smelled bad. The best thing she ever brought was a jar of dilled brussels sprouts. And the only reason I say that is it is the one thing that I haven't smelled in my office down the hall from the kitchen.
I loved her to pieces, but rejoiced when she left solely due to her eating habits. I may die fat, but at least my food doesn't smell like the city dump...

I've been at the range today, and putting together paperwork to take to one in jail.

It's hard to eat something that doesn't smell good.

Hmm... dill brussels sprouts... now I wish I had some. It sounds delicious!

The only problem I ever ran into at w*rk was when I ate food from a can. Sweet peas, kidney beans, black-eyed peas, whatever. It's a quick lunch.
"You don't cook them first?"
Uh... they are cooked when they are canned.
"But you eat them cold? You don't heat them up?"
That takes time and bringing a bowl and washing the bowl afterward and I have half an hour to eat this... and you're burning up that half hour with your questions.

Nobody ever complained about the smell though.

I'm playing rangemaster today. Qualified my office, now I have three from the Conway office coming, at least one of which is a phenomenally terrible shot, bless her heart...

Today is my grandson's birthday, too.

Definitely not a video gamer. Only video game I've played in twenty years would be Super Mario Brothers, on the retro game cube thingie we bought a while back. And I, uh, am terrible at it.

I found bags of Lindor extra-dark chocolate truffles for a dollar a bag! I bought... 17 bags. And 11 bags of milk chocolate, because they were milk "chocolate" but still Lindor truffles. And a couple bags of hazelnut truffles.

I went to Aldi last night and Grandma asked me to pick up five half gallon jars of mixed nuts. She like to have them on hand because she eats them, Uncle Fred grabs a handful when he pops in, Uncle Brent sometimes grabs a handful... She starts to fret if we get low on mixed nuts.

Y'all can stockpile all the toilet paper and bottled water you want. Us, we're stockpiling the important things.  :roll:

Back at work. It is Friday. I have to take one to the range, and go do a few home visits.
My new toy, (my turbine paint sprayer with which I shall paint Sam and the Corvette), came in yesterday. Smaller than I thought it would be, but very sturdy. I'm like a kid at Christmas. I can't wait to try it out...but I have a bit of work to do before I can.

The kids got hubby one of those things that helps you lift & lower a tailgate on a trailer for his birthday next week.. We've been needing one for a while. Pretty excited. Now to install it. :)

Hi. I've done almost nothing worthwhile this weekend. Slept way too late yesterday, sanded on the Corvette some and laid around. Today's been a repeat.
Yesterday, I was told that a guy who I spoke with last Saturday when I picked up Sam's transmission (he loaded it with a tractor) has tested positive for Corona. I never got close, and we were outside, but still....
I already had a dr's appointment for Monday as I have had a cough for several weeks, likely allergies since it happens every year, but best to be safe...

And Lou and Chey have discovered online clothing shopping with a vengeance and are vigorously stimulating the economy of a certain Dainty business in the Oregon area.. :pound:

They only just NOW discovered this?

Bobby there are thousands of husbands/fathers who would love to know how you have hidden this from them for so long.

Last Tuesday my mom had some heart issues but neglected to talk to her doctor about it at her appointment on Friday. I'm threatening to call her doctor and tell on her.

My dad is now also going to the heart specialist sometime to get some tests done since his blood pressure will not go down.

Well.. Happy Monday. LOL.

I'm quite sure my blood pressure is gonna be the death of me, despite being on BP meds.
It's more my pulse though than my BP. Internal stress about life. And church and things.

Yes, Lynx....my girls are not much more computer minded than fb, ect. They will look occasionally, but Dainty Jewell's can be pricey, so they don't even ask. I've bought from them for Lou a couple of times after seeing her drool over a dress- take note of it, and order it. The other night though, we were talking and they wanted to look at the "sale" page on that website. I escaped several dollars later.
 And, I went to the doctor today, who told me he is sure it is just allergies, but wanted me tested anyway. So I got tested. They ran a wire through the back of my skull, or so it felt. I'm now stuck at home for 3 to 5 days until the results come in..
I intend to make the most of it by sleeping in and doing nothing.

DJ has some pretty dresses, and I love that their sizing is usually spot on (on what I've gotten before, at least).


When people FIRST started getting tested, I watched some videos of them getting tested. I was like "oh my word.. that has to go thru to their brain." LOL.. They all said that it basically felt that way. Looks rough. Hope you get good news! :)

 I slept until 11 today. I really didn't want this quarantine, but since it is here, I'm enjoying the rest aspect of it.
But I will be glad for this mess to be over. Lou's grocery shopping skills are not to my level and it is killing the budget. I'd do it online, but there are no available time slots for pickup...

We had a crazy storm that hit last night about 1 with lots of hail and wind. It stormed hard until about 3. Our electricity went out about 2 and stayed off until probably 4. I'm thankful for God's protection.

Crazy storm here too. My hammock is toppled over. Branches everywhere.

Storm came through, but bypassed us for the most part. Lotsa rain.....but that was it. I got the call a few ago, I am clear of the Corona. That's a blessing, but now I gotta go back to work. :lol: It's beautiful here today although it is a tad windy.

Our deep freeze died Wednesday. It's been incredibly hard looking for one to replace it because apparently they're mostly sold out. We were wanting an upright, but.. I've literally found ONE in stock that I can see online for in-store.  Dunno if we are going to purchase yet tho. We still have our other deep freeze and our above-the-fridge freezer. Jeremy's job (USPS) is telling them to not make any large purchases due to their current financial situation.  So... I think we might wait a while, and hopefully someone will restock all these freezers!

See if you have a "scratch and dent" store around. We have one here locally that usually has good working freezers cheap. As the freezer is an item that is usually out of sight, I personally don't care about scratches, as long as it works. I've bought $200-$300 freezers for $90.
Back at work. Was dreading it, as I knew I'd have a metric ton of work to do to catch up. But I have AMAZING coworkers, and they pretty much kept me afloat for these last few days! I ate healthy (er) today. Lunch was a salad with a bit of smoked chicken breast diced up. I've eaten one snack cake and drank a glass of orange juice. Probably around 500 calories so far today. I need to get back to my calorie counting and lose this 40 lbs that attacked and subdued me.
The allergy meds the doc gave me have really helped.

That's actually where we got the one that died. We had it probably a good 6 years or maybe a few less tho. I have a feeling we brought the early death on ourselves by not maintaining it well.

We both really want an upright this time tho. I'm so tired of digging down into something and I'm short to begin with.

 I got Sam started and loaded up with his things for the axle swap. Hopefully it'll be done in the next couple of weeks..

Our electricity was out a few hours today. A pole snapped for some reason & had to be replaced.

Did a little photoshoot of Chey last night- she got dressed up and wanted me to, so we went out in the yard and used Rusty and one of my roses as a prop. I am prejudiced, I'll admit that up front, but she was stunning. And the photos came out really well, especially considering they were taken with an iPhone. Once again I am tempted to buy a decent camera and learn a bit about the hobby. But then again, I have too many hobbies already.

Fer sure! Our church had a real church service last Sunday, but we're still doing livestreaming. We ordered a real camera and everything.

I'm still resisting the urge to say "I told you so!" to certain people who never did want to livestream service before, but are now enthusiastic about it... resisting it so far anyway. One day at a time.

I still am cautious about the whole livestream thing. For instance, ours will be limited to the preaching.. there are parts of Pentecost that does not translate well to video, and people's worship is and should be private.  I won't have folks worrying about what a camera and the world sees instead of focusing on Him. We Pentecostals are enthusiastic with our worship, and if someone feels moved to run, jump, dance, shout- I don't want the camera to be a stumbling block.

But I will say that the livestream has enabled us to reach people that would otherwise have not been touched by us.

And in sharing- day for without Dr Pepper and I am diligently trying to watch what I eat. Currently, however, I could eat a deep fried Shetland Pony dosed liberally in BBQ Sauce and chased by a 55 gallon drum of Dr Pepper, and not feel remotely guilty.

Illinois has not opened up the churches yet officially that I'm aware of, but there are some that are going to slowly reopen I believe. Our church is very small and could totally do the 6ft distancing, but 90% of our church is also very elderly, so I'm not sure how much danger we are putting them in. Such an unknown.

I didn't go. Haven't been. Still lots of lock-downs here in Dallas county, so I'm not 100% in agreement with the openings.

Morning. It's been absolutely beautiful here for the past several days, but crisp in the mornings. I've has a ton of things to do, but by the time I get home in the evening, no incentive to do it. I enjoyed sitting in the chair on the front porch last night, relaxing and contemplating life. Funny how you take pleasure in stuff like that the older you get. Surrounded by my flowers, looking out over a well cut lawn...

@work. Completely exhausted. Sleep was not good last night and I tried to wind down a little early since Friday mornings are my early mornings. Combine that with weather system moving in, and apparently it ends up with a grumpy, tired me.

I do at least get to leave work early today due to an eye appointment. I have to call them later and confirm they're keeping the appointment. I also want to make sure I know the rules for entry.

At work. But it's a good at work day. I don't have anyone scheduled and my coworkers wanted to grill. So I threw the new pellet grill on the trailer, hooked up Rusty and headed to town.
I've got a pork loin smoking, chicken to go in soon, and burgers to cook as well. We are gonna eat well! And since the grill is on the trailer, tomorrow at church work day, I'll do up another pork loin.

I don't mean it to sound like Judas here, but... are other people chipping in for these pork loins? Them things ain't cheap!

Well, everyone chipped in and brought food. I will admit I spent a bit, but it's the least I could do- these folks have been amazing to me and anytime I'm out they take care of things. I'm blessed to work in an office that is more like family, so opening the deep freeze occasionally doesn't hurt.
One of my coworkers made a banana pudding that was ahhhh-maaazing!

And I was lucky. People have started buying meat like they did toilet paper around here. Fortunately one of the local supermarkets has a friend of mine who is the butcher. He rustled me up a big pork loin. I smoked half today and will probably smoke the other half tomorrow for the church work day.

Y'all got quiet. I can't fuss though, I missed posting yesterday. Got up at 6 am, drug the smoker to church. Smoked pork loin, warmed up pinto beans, and made sure everyone that showed up for work day got fed. We got the front of the church painted, the yard mowed and four trailer loads of brush hauled off.
Then I came home, cleaned up some stuff,and brought home a new log rocking chair from Tractor Supply to replace the broken one on the porch.
Today we go back inside for the first service in a couple of months. Seems like forever- we will be practicing the "social distancing"- I wish I'd trademarked that phrase, I'd be a quadzillionaire.
Put together a Mother's day message- One of the dilemmas is honoring mothers, while simultaneously realizing there are sweet good people who want children but haven't been so blessed, and making sure that your well intended words do not make them feel like second class citizens.
 I hope I succeeded in that. I don't want to hurt anyone. Titled the message, " Lessons from Hannah".
Now, what to eat.....

That IS such a hard line to walk, even as someone who isn't ministering.

We've been married 8 years, and while we don't know of any issues officially, we obviously have no children. A sweet older lady at our church was always in charge of the Mothers Day gifts for the whole church. (She would have a little knick-knack, and then like a candy bar and small soda.) Well, she would first call the moms individually, then call up women without children, etc etc.. until everyone had one. She always had enough for EVERY single person to have something. A younger-than-me mother threw a fit about it, because she thought it was silly that anyone not a mother was getting anything. She was like "Isn't that embarrassing to you?" (to me).. to which I responded.. no.

I thought it was kind of her to include everyone. We aren't really one way or another about us having a child.. I sorta would like to have one, but I also know that the lifestyle we have will change dramatically if we have one. Having said that, there are a few childless older ladies in our church who ARE stepmoms to others, and to have them completely left out would have been incredibly hurtful. I was appalled... because she herself had miscarried once that I know of. I thought of all people, she would have been the most considerate. You do not know what people have gone through unless they tell you. We don't know that those ladies didn't miscarry sometime in their lives. I was hurt for them. She didn't know that we haven't miscarried, even tho as family she probably thinks she would know. It's just... something you really need to step carefully on, and with a kind heart.

Having said that, Roscoe.. I'm sure you did a wonderful job. I know often things can be taken wrong, but when I know the person is kind, I know they meant them the best way. God can also pave the way in our hearts for those rougher messages.

That lady has since stopped doing the mass giveaways. I have no idea what caused this to stop, but I hope no one hurt her feelings. She's like a grandma to every child she knows. I believe she even has kids, which we didn't know until just recently. (She visits them.. not the other way around.)

Anyway. You're welcome for the soapbox. LOL.


@work. Not too bad of a weekend. Not a total lazy one, haha. Trying to reorganize our kitchen a little in order to not feel like we're suffocating in our home. It's chaos throughout the house. I need a week off or so to really work hard on it, but.. that whole "essential worker" business, hahaha.

LOL. I was delivered, as Bro Wilson decided to preach yesterday. So I didn't have to worry about it after all. One of the reasons I wanted to be careful- we have a young couple who is fairly new in the faith- around a year, year and a half. A work in progress, but aren't we all? The man has became close to me, well, as close as an introvert like me lets people in- and has confided in me ALOT. One of the huge things to them has been the fact that they've been married several years and haven't had children, and it is one of their greatest desires. The last thing I want to do is make them feel less of a person because God has not so blessed them yet.
 You know, it takes a lot to build up a soul, but not much to destroy someone. I don't ever want to be known as a destroyer.

We had church indoors yesterday. Around 35 people there. I wish they had wore more masks, but at least they worked on the social distancing part. We have just about substituted hand sanitizer for oil...lol. Anoint, pray, sanitize...
There was an awesome spirit of God in the place.
Now I'm back at work, getting caught up on the wayward children that strayed from the path of righteousness this week.

Morning. It is COLD here. Like 48! And misting rain. This depressed me so much, I went and bought a double-stack from Wendy's to cheer me up.
One day closer to the weekend. Chey completed her schooling for the year and is happy about that. I am too- no more pushing to get school work done. That kid is just like me when I was younger, procrastinate until it can't be put off any longer. Thankful that's a habit I have mostly overcame...

Saw Chel & the kiddos briefly today. It's been cloudy most of the day but we only got some sprinkles.

I'm in Indiana. Having fun with my niece and nephew.

Niece is a mess. Brought my bluetooth speaker cus she loves music. She's always telling me to sing.
So I turned on music and she started bopping. She put the speaker to her mouth and sang into it lol...she said "i love this".

and I hate mothers day services. And i have a great mom! we didnt even go to church. we just spent the day together. most of my friends who are mothers hate mothers day too lol

Ok, I exaggerated yesterday. I checked the mileage- from my parole's front door to pavement was 17 miles. This was AFTER I'd driven almost 20 miles out of town to get to the dirt road.
 I actually enjoyed the drive and the alone time.
 Then today, my  work- sistah and I went out and spent most of the day cruising around checking on her bad folks. Now I am counting down the last hour, having just done paperwork on another offender who was arrested last night- one that absconded from me and has not been seen by me since sometime prior to August or 19. He has amassed 18 new criminal charges since then, with the vast majority of them being felonies.

I would enjoy a cake. I would say I could use it, but it is apparent that I could not, by looking in the mirror and the lying scale.

 It's rained most of the day. I got up semi-early, loaded Sam on my buddy's trailer and escorted him to the shop for the beginning of his rear axle upgrade. If everything goes right in a couple weeks or so, Sam will have a highspeed rear axles, new transmission, clutch and assorted parts, rebuilt starter and will be in good cruising shape. I've been accumulating parts for this since I brought him back from the wilds of Oklahoma last year.

I also went and mowed my kid brother's yard. Then the bottom apparently fell out of the sky while I was gone because I returned home to a lake. Now I'm sitting here, contemplating tomorrow's sermon, and chilling.

Urgh. This place is a ghost town. Where did everyone go?!?

I'm making lunch for Chel & also cooking Oatmeal cookies. I have to make 2 batches. One for hubby and gluten free for Chel.

Big ole mess yesterday with our internet people. I finally managed to ring the bell hard enough to get a manager to call me and then a different manager called me once they were on-site. I think we FINALLY got our internet issue fixed. Only took like two months. Had to miss 3/4 a day of work to do it too. Glad it's over. We almost cancelled on them due to lack of communication/professionalism.. as well as ya know, not getting what we paid for. :)

@work, obviously. Have an appointment at the auto shop to get my tire repaired. I have had the WORST luck with tires since moving to IL. I feel like I periodically get flat tires now. This time I SAW the screw/nail when I had to stop and air up my tire so we know the problem with that one. My other issue is that its twin tire seems to be having an issue with pressure, but I didn't see an obvious reason for it yet. Hopefully they'll be able to patch them today and I can get the quote for new tires... and then sell some organs. LOL.

I'm at work too. Started out the morning eating a snack cake and sipping on a Dr. Pepper. Sipping being key, it'll last me all day. Oh, and I text-tormented Galoot.
Went home last night and smoked a pork roast in gravy. Decently tasty, but Lou didn't care much for it. And I mowed the yard. Tonight, when I get in, I shall load up the trailer with a bunch of scrap metal and move closer to getting the yard neat. That is if it isn't raining again.. I am SOOOO sick of rain. :pound:

Absolutely beautiful day today. I did just as I planned yesterday evening, with one exception. I couldn't stand the length of my hair anymore so I went begging to a friend and had him buzz it. Both of the hairs. LOL. Then I went home, took Chey to borrow her aunt's four wheeler, and loaded up the trailer with a load of scrap metal. Friday, I shall haul it off and my place will look so much better...

The barbers finally opened here. But not the one my hubby usually uses. He went to another one. He said it's not really what he wanted but better than it was. It should last until his real barber opens June 1.

That's one thing I never got the hang of. I am not an accomplished sipper. I chug. I'll drink a quart or more and be good for four hours instead of taking a sip every ten minutes.

I do understand stretching it out though. When I was a kid we would nibble on a treat. We referred to it as "lasting" the treat - we made it last longer, and made "last" a verb.

This COVID19 business enabled me to have a "telehealth" checkup today instead of spending a good hour+ on an actual office visit. That was different but nice.

I think we are getting wings from Buffalo Wild Wings tonight for supper. I love all the "family meal deals" restaurants are really focusing on right now. It's handy for people like us. :)

Pretty here. Not that I am doing anything with it. I slept in and sat around inside, fixing to go to church and feed the sheep. I shore hope they like beans and taters. :lol:
 Kinda dismayed today. Lou has been wanting to move to town and sell our place, which I have steadily rejected. But yesterday, we found the perfect place. 2800 sq foot, Craftsman built in 1928, absolutely, exactly what I wanted in a nice neighborhood. Needed interior paint and that was it. Looked all through it (it was unlocked) , fell in love, found out it was a repo and amazingly cheap at $63k. Ran numbers, talked with my banker friend and could have refinanced our place and bought that one out right....Realtor  called me back this morning. It had set empty for over a year. They accepted a bid on it Friday. We missed it by ONE stinkin' day! One of very few houses in town that would have caused me to move. :pound:

Either things will change & you'll get it or you didn't need it. ;)

:hi: Spent the day cleaning stuff up around the house, and working on Rusty. Dreading going back to work tomorrow. It's stormy here tonight, which means my internet is sporadic.

@work. Four days off in a row were nice, but coming back to work after is for the birds! I didn't get as much done as I wanted, but I got some done and relaxed some.

Our girl cat (Tabby) was kinda limping/shuffling around on Saturday, slightly less Sunday, and I didn't really see any of that behavior on Monday. Hopefully she had just strained a muscle. I babied her and helped her down off of tall things, so I'm sure I've created a monster, LOL. Either way... glad she's ok. :) She's my cuddle bug.

Yesterday afternoon, I had laid down and wanted to take a nap. My mom called and I ended up not actually sleeping, but I was awake for the sirens then too. Blaring down my street and didn't fade into the distance like normal, so of course I shot out of the room to go on the porch. The house across the street from us was on fire. We sat and watched for a bit. Such a neat thing to watch how well the fire departments, EMS, and police all work together for that kind of situation. They were able to get the fire out pretty fast. I have no idea how badly damaged the interior is, but the family can't stay there now for sure. I felt so bad for them, and unable to really know what to do to help.. so I sat and prayed for them. I dunno.. It just such a reality jab to think of all the things I prepare for.. and I don't really have a plan for if something like that happens.  Thankfully the family and their pets seemed good. (This is the family that's constantly outside yelling for their cat. I don't know if I posted about them before or not.) It's a iconic house for our town because of the family who owned it when my husband was a child. Everyone LOVES the house, and it's a beautiful house, even with the damage it has now.

I too am back at work, running 99 different directions.

 And I am apparently cursed when it comes to computers. I bought a new Lenvo S340 Laptop in January. Put a good antivirus program on it, baby it- last night I turned the music app on and in the middle of a good southern gospel song, sitting on my bedside table, it shut off. No warning no issues, fully charged. And now, it shows to be powered up but nothing on the screen, just a black screen. Google shows several people with similar issues and claim it could be a mother board. It should still be under warranty, but I don't want to lose everything I have on it! Ridiculous that it died that quickly. It wasn't a high end laptop, but at $400 bucks it wasn't the cheapest either. :pound:

Sure sounds like a motherboard issue. Odd... Lenovo products are usually pretty rock-solid, but even they have had a few flubs.

Even if it won't boot, you can still salvage what's on the hard drive. Pop the hard drive out and connect it to another computer with a USB-SATA adapter. You can find them on amazon.

This is the one I got and it works pretty well.

You plug one cord into the wall, one cable into your bad computer's hard drive and the USB cable into a good computer's USB port. The hard drive pops up on screen like any other flash drive or external hard drive and you can browse folders and copy needed files over.

If you don't want to wait for shipping, a computer store probably has something similar. Just ask them for a USB to SATA adapter. If that doesn't get it, ask for "an adapter to connect an internal hard drive to a computer's USB port."

If that still doesn't get it, give up and get out of there because they don't know what they are doing. :p

Apparently everybody needs somebody to look down on. I just can't figure out exactly why.

What brought this to my attention was the way a guy at work has been treated. He's a nice guy, conscientious worker, but he's... mentally disabled, or developmentally disadvantaged, or whatever the politically correct term is for "somebody not quite as bright as most people." He doesn't need assisted living, but he's not quite up to par with everybody else. But he's a great guy.

Some people at work have noticed his peculiarities, but instead of talking TO him, they have been talking ABOUT him and making up theories to explain the oddities. These theories really are quite negative, and the people making these theories state them as fact. I respect him a lot more than I respect the people inventing gossip about him, so every time I heard this gossip I have wedged myself into the conversation and mentioned his positive traits and explained the things they thought were so bad. But it still bugs me that I should even need to. Why don't they just ASK HIM WHY HE ACTS THAT WAY instead of making up bad things to believe about him?

I suppose it shouldn't be surprising though. Humans have done this as far back as our recorded history goes. But I wish I knew why.

Ever heard of the Sourdoughs? They were the earliest settlers in Alaska and northwest Canada. They planted themselves and started living there, made communities, and after they ran out of baking powder they made their bread with sourdough yeast because they had no stores from which to buy baking powder. When newer settlers came, with their baking powder, the old-timers used the distinction of their yeast bread as an excuse to look down on the newbies.

Yeah, that's right. They used something they couldn't get as a reason to look down on the new people who had it. Silly, huh?

Remember the golden age of internet, when only nerds were smart enough to use a modem and connect to other computers online? The elite computer users made up what they called "leet speech" except they spelled it "1337 5p34k." They used a lot of numbers and symbols instead of letters, partly because they thought it was cool and partly because it made what they were saying hard for the unwashed masses to read.

Then came AOL, and suddenly every kid could connect. The internet ballooned and "normal" people started noticing and adopting leet speak. Well! This just would not do for the true computer elite. They stopped using it, started calling it AOL speak and made fun of anybody who used it.

Yeah, that's right. They made fun of people for doing what they themselves started. Silly, huh?

But WHY?!

I have a couple of theories.

My first theory is if people can find somebody to look down on, they feel better about themselves. No matter how low I feel, no matter how much I hate myself, if I can find somebody who is lower than I and point to all his failures and faults, I can feel better about myself because at least I'm not as bad as he is. And if I can't find anybody who is obviously lower than I, I can pick somebody and find a trait about him that is different from me, and make that the reason to disparage him. Hey, it'll work to make me feel better about myself.

My second theory is if people can find a reason to look down on others it makes it easier for them to justify their opinions and actions. If a car is driving slowly in front of me I can spout something about elderly drivers, or women drivers, or whatever group I want to gripe about while I'm driving behind a slow person. It gives me a target to get angry at... right up until I have the opportunity to pass the slowpoke and find out it's a guy in his late 20's. It's not enough for me to like Ford - I have to also hate Chevy and find every excuse I can to put Chevy down, because that boosts my pride in my beloved Ford. I can't just like my high school's football team, I have to also say mean things about their rival team from another school... it makes it feel better to trample them when we win and it gives me a target to gripe about and insult if we lose.

These are just theories though. I don't really understand why we automatically find reasons to look down on people.

Somebody once said that if we woke up tomorrow morning and found that everybody in the whole world was the same color, belonged to the same kind of church, spoke the same language, and was in all other respects alike... different groups of us would find a new reason we are different from other groups, and claim that makes us better and them inferior, before lunch time. And I have to admit that observation is true. But I still can't really figure out why. It's not logical, it's counterproductive and it is actively harmful.

So why do we automatically do it? Anybody got any answers?

Human nature. I've come to the conclusion, much like a minister friend of mine with whom I was talking, that the problem with life is- people. He said it in jest, but it rang true. Of course I'm NOT an unbiased opinion on that. :lol:

 I am dragging today. Really need food and drink. Trying to cut back and not given in to my baser nature. If my Mcdonald's were not idiots who let the best breakfast item they have, the steak bagel run out, I would surrender and go buy one. But apparently they are out of the bagels. And the steak. :pound:

Ah... yes, about that. We are temporarily not serving steak, bagels, grilled chicken, any breakfast after 10:30am or chicken tenders.

Spent the day at work, tired as usual. I haven't gotten to bed before midnight in forever it seems. Went to the firing range for a bit, then came home.
I got a response from Lenovo- after reviewing the symptoms of my laptop, they advised it was "a hardware issue"- DUH- and are sending me packaging to ship it to them. Puzzles me a bit though- they stress that I need to save pics, files, ect. How in the tarnation can I do that if I can't get the blasted beast to come on?
Fortunately, all that is on it is pictures, most of which I have saved, music, all of which I have saved, and a few sermons, ect that I have saved. What galls me is I just two weeks ago put my trust in it instead of my dinosaur desktop Windows XP machine in regards to my money management. I'd downloaded the best product of all time- Microsoft Money, Sunset edition,(I'm still ticked that Microsoft killed off possibly the best program they've ever written, but at least they were kind enough to make a free downloadable edition without all the bells and whistles available)- and began transitioning it all over from the much less likable Quicken software. Of course, like a total Nimrod, I didn't back it up externally yet, figuring I'd do it when I finished up moving everything over. All that work, gone. Complete with my beautiful pie charts. :pound:

I was going to suggest the exact info that these other two did about popping it out. :) I should've done that with my old laptop before the computer guy completely wiped my hard drive on accident.


@Work. Had an eye appointment this morning, so I just got in about 15 minutes ago. Hopefully this day doesn't get too difficult.

I don't know about the warranty... I've never seen a piece of seal tape (break it and it voids the warranty) over a hard drive hatch. And they didn't offer to back up the data before retrofitting the computer. And they SAID to back up the data yourself.

Check the warranty fine print first though. I'm not entirely sure it wouldn't void the warranty. But I don't think it will.

 Glad to be off the street- protests have made it to the State Capitol, and moved to Conway last night, with protests claiming on social media to be organized for tonight in Morrilton.
Been busy doing paperwork so far. And due to the replacement of an electrical pole outside the office we were told they were going to shut down the office power for 3 to 4 hours, beginning any minute, so it looks like I get a bit of a break today. :-)

Dentist appointment last evening after work. Jaw is still a little... tender. Hopefully that'll go away. Ever since a friend of mine had dental work and developed trismus, I've been extremely nervous about dental work LOL.

So incredibly sleepy. Same as yesterday. I have a hard time getting up and around in the AM. I think it's time to adult my bedtime and morning routines by going to bed at an earlier time and getting up a little earlier. It appears that I am just surviving my days instead of making the most of them.

Still have grand babies here. They keep you busy.

I've GOT to stop staying up until midnight. Mornings are killing me.
Here I sit, no coffee, praying for strength to get through the day, and knowing tonight is church night means another late night...sigh.

@Work. Overslept and apparently ninja silenced my early alarms. I did manage to go to bed a little earlier, but not as early as I wanted.


Hungry already. I want to EAT a hamburger and french fries from the local store, but I guess I'll just eat my soup unless an opportunity happens. :)

It is morning again. Urgh.  I am totally ready for my vacation week after next , even if I don't have a car show to look forward to.
Chance of rain today. Lou wants to go look at a local house for sale. It's absolutely beautiful, looks like a mansion, literally- it's a built-in-1899 Colonial Greek Revival style. They have it listed very reasonable, and I actually like it a lot, but it's still more than our current residence that we will have to sell. She is bent on moving. Lord.
And an added issue- this house honestly is the type house that you look at and think "Lord, they have MONEY". For instance, I sent Mini the link and his response was "WOW".
 Don't get me wrong, I love nice things, but not really into "look at me" stuff ( Unless it's an antique vehicle, look all ya want :lol: ).
 Silly, I know, but I worry about what some folks would think if they saw that house in relation to ministry. You know, many folks in my church live in substandard houses, and struggle and I know it. Some might think- "Look at the money grubbing preacher. He lives in a mansion while his folks struggle".
I know better, and work every day- but I don't want it to be a stumbling block. Especially since the grand old home costs less than a modern tract home.

If you're super concerned - You can always nip any of that in the bud by always having an invitation to your people. make them welcome at your home for dinners, get-togethers, whatever. If they feel welcomed and already love you anyway, it won't be an issue.

To many, our home is 'big' and I always have to remind people that with it being big, it's also very old, and has strong old house issues. Issues that we are going to have to begin correcting soon if we don't move.

Officially stepped away from my church home also. They've been slowly integrating churches back into society per all of the covid stuff and riots etc. So on the hunt for a new church home. It's been an emotional ride but I know it's what I need to do for the future of my spiritual health and wellness.

It definitely has old house quirks. I just spoke with a friend who was a realtor- she tells me it is solid, has knowledge of it. She thinks it can be had cheaper too, so that's good.
Our people know that they are ALWAYS welcome anywhere we live. If we bought the mansion, it would be the site of an annual Christmas dinner for sure, for the church, since we run only 40-60 people. They seem to love us- I haven't been stoned yet. :lol:

It's complicated. I think the stigma comes from so many people- not saying you, of course- come to a church, and the minute something is preached that doesn't go in line with them, they are in the wind. They never put down roots and are unstable as they can be.
We had a family leave a few years ago.....no explanation, they just left. They've now been a "member" of every apostolic church within 50 miles, including a stint that they came back to ours for a month, then left saying we "didn't worship enough or have enough going on".
That hurt. But what hurts more is seeing the children hither and yon, and them not being stable. I'm like, "For Pete's sake, get somewhere and root. I don't care if it's with us or not, I just don't want ya lost."
Obviously there are times that for some folks it is TIME to change, and there are multitudes of reasons for that. Long as you are following Him to find your new church home, that's what matters.

And Morning all. I am, as usual dragging. It is obvious to me that God never intended for me to be awake prior to 10am. Now to convince my boss of that. :pound:

Taking the Subaru in for another recall today. We bought the first year of this line.. and we are helping with their troubleshooting apparently haha. I knew it was possible, so I'm not complaining. The only issue that's been SUPER frustrating was the back hatch getting stuck a week or so ago. It had a HORRIBLE beep that never ended until Jeremy had to detach the battery hahaha. I'm going to mention that to them today when I go in for this official recall.

We really DO still love this suv tho.


Also - We are tentatively planning on going back to Yellowstone next summer. I'm STILL excited.. but Jeremy wanted to go somewhere new, haha. LOL. We didn't camp inside Yellowstone (nor would I want to, honestly.. my ticker wouldn't let me sleep), but we only saw like two sightings of bears (baby & mom walking and then a bear sleeping in a tree) the whole time we were there visiting. I would LOVE to stay in the hotel down in that big valley there, but I'm sure it's extremely expensive, haha. What a view tho!


I think I told you guys about the bobcat/mountain lion (can't remember what they said it was) coming from the lake (where our campsite was by) when we were on our way back to our campsite in Blowout Canyon in Idaho. We also were visited by a small ground squirrel and it rained that night. It took me forever to fall asleep that night, because I wasn't sure if it was rain (the campsite had trees, so rain fell weird), ground squirrel, or the big cat back, LOL.

At some point, I'd love to travel out west. I actually want to do it in a motorhome, which is very high on my bucketlist of items to acquire in the next few years.
And in sharing, it's a definite no go on the mansion. I was willing to look, especially after neighbors told me that the owners REALLY wanted out and might go as low as $130k. So I went to call and set up a viewing. You guessed it- Offer was submitted, accepted , and pending. Apparently if you want to sell a house, have the Moses family show interest. It'll go double quick. :lol:
Oh well. I like where we are and truthfully it makes the most sense financially for us to stay. And, despite the tons of rain Sunday night and Monday, our septic system worked flawlessly. Maybe I've got it fixed...

We talked about that a lot last fall after that trip. We'd LOVE to do a motorhome tour of the country as well. We did see a TON of rental motorhomes while we were out there. So that's always something you could do if you wanted.. not sure how much those are to rent tho.

They are pricey, and the closest rental place is Memphis.. There IS a website where you can rent from private owners, but most are $200/day plus fuel, ect. and most don't allow pets. We would take our furbabies with us.
A late 90's, early 2000s motorhome can be had for $10k or so, with low miles....so that's probably the way I will go. Unfortunately, that is a stretch until we get the consolidation loan paid off. Being an adult is SUCH a drag sometimes. :lol:

I'm holding my breath until 430 and escape time...

:hi: Woke up this morning, and sprayed Rusty with clearcoat. He's dry now, and looks great- very shiny, just what he needed. He still has his patina, but it's shiny now. And I just got my computer back from Lenovo. They fixed it, and didn't even reformat it or destroy what was on it. I am pleased.

Just out of nerd curiosity, what did they say the problem was?

I asked the same thing.  I don't think they said or told him what they replaced.

Our electricity was out last night from about 9 till 4. Makes it hard to sleep with no air conditioner. We are spoiled.

The past two nights have been cooler outside than inside, but I'm sure the humidity would've been 10x worse out than in, haha. I cannot sleep without the noise of a fan AND the actual air, especially during the summer months.

So- I wound up getting talked into taking Chey to Silver Dollar City today to meet her "HE'S -NOT-MY-BOYFRIEND-DAD". It had reopened, with all kinds of social distancing, face masks, ect... Since it was outdoors, I gave in and took her. Beautiful day, and I got to visit with HNMBD's Grandpa who is a friend and mentor (minister).
And I took Rusty. So, around 2,2.5 hours each way, and in between I enjoyed being Her Majesty's servant, carrying her phone and fanny pack that was not allowed on the rides around.
 Also caught HNMBD and her holding hands...so cute. And now HNMBD is on Dad's list...:pound: :pound: Funny, a certain young lady never stopped smiling today and all she could talk about on the way home was "He did this, he said that". Sheesh. :pound:

Just wait till she discovers FaceTime and talks for hours a night.

I told my daughter the other night that when her momma and I started dating, we didn't have text, our calls were long distance, and we got to see each other at church.

They want you to wear them everywhere, but will allow you to take them off on the rides, I'm told. Kiddo and HNMBD kept theirs on from what I saw.:eyebrow: There were few enough people, though, while we sat from ride to ride, I often pulled my mask down with no one around and breathed. And it really wasn't bad hot here yesterday. Like low 80s. Almost cool for June in Arkansas.
They make you answer a list of questions, one of which was " Have you had difficulty breathing recently?" I pointed and gasped "Yes. Right now. After walking up the Mount Everest replica you call a parking lot to get here.."  :rotfl:
They also take your temperature. If it's over 100, you and no one in your party can go in.
And as far as cases rising- we have another spike going on here, but it is mainly in the northwestern part of the state. It seem much of that is driven by the poultry industry- one Tyson's meat packing plant had 199 positives- and immigrants. That part of the state has a large population of Marshallese  people as well as Hispanics. I know from personal experience working with them, many of the Hispanic immigrants, legal or otherwise, will live 30,40 to a house. We had 2 Guatemalan guys work with me at Tyson in the 90s. They would come here on work visas, work 9 months to a year, then go home for 3 months. They sent every spare penny back home and apparently were the equivalent of Rockefeller in their little villages. But over here- they didn't spend a dime. I gave them a ride home one day- they and others had rented a 3 bedroom house. Not a stick of furniture in it. There were pallets, with small dressers all over. Like 5 beds in the living room, each bedroom with 4 or 5- I bet there were 30 people living there, no exaggeration. When they live in that close proximity and work together- one person gets it and the whole community has it.
That and we are finally testing more. I suspect it's not so much a spike as it is us actually finding cases that have been here for a while.

I had nothing to do or too much to do, so I was sometimes bored and GP was hopping back then. Between laying off people & folks quitting & them not hiring more I absorbed many positions. (With no raises)
When they tried to get me to absorb another job 5 years ago, I'd had enough. I turned in my notice. I've missed a couple folks but not the job.

I'm here. Been busy. Wish GP was still hopping...I miss checking in to see a ton of new posts. If the Lord wills, I've got around 11 years or so before I can retire. Actually looking forward to it. This week of vacation has kept me busy enough to know that I can keep myself busy. Unfortunately, I have to have money to pay the bills. But if I can make it to retirement, the state can pay me for the rest of my life.

Well, I didn't retire. We're just depending on Jesus. ;) I can't "retire" for a few more years.

Hi. Slept in today, when I did not mean to. Went to town. Came home and tinkered with the corvette. Three different attempts at shimming the starter and it no works. I came inside before I started throwing tools. Gonna get up and cook in a bit..

And the place is silent. LOL. Hope all the dads had a good day. Dreading tomorrow. The downside of a week off is all the c.rap that I have to deal with upon return.

 And today was- well, eventful doesn't begin to describe it. Remember the coworker I had spoken about in the past who didn't care for me? Well, while I was off last week apparently he had a bad day. The copier, as usual was on the blink and from my understanding he said something along the lines of " I'm going to shoot this copier, everyone in the building, and myself".
This was said loud enough apparently everyone in the office heard it, and believed him. Supervisors called him in this morning, and around 9:45 I was informed that he was no longer one of us. In addition, my beautiful, near perfect caseload was taken from me and dispersed to other officers and I got his caseload. It is the caseload version of the Titanic, and I am bailing water with a teaspoon. Apparently it never crossed his mind to DO HIS JOB.
To make matters worse, he supervised sex offenders, so I am back to dealing with them, which I abhor. AND I find out that he has alienated the sheriff's office and jail in the adjoining county, where I have to deal with a large majority of the caseload, to the point that they won't hold my prisoners and hate us. I have to set up a meeting to have a conference with the sheriff to try to smooth over what this idiot did.....:pound:
My anxiety will be sky high. All of that and then the ongoing church stuff....shew.

I'm sorry, Roscoe. I hate cleaning up other folks messes.

Cleaning up other people's messes is about a third of my job. My wallet just loves it when other people are lazy.

Of course the messes they leave at my job are more like a pile of boxes in the way... Nothing like a junked caseload.

I know that absolutely stinks getting stuck with his caseload. Hopefully you can repair that relationship with the other offices. Praying he stays away from your offices as well. That's always such a scary thing. Obviously he was not cut out for his work(place).

@work. Long night last night. Didn't feel good, finally got relief halfway thru the night with only a few hours of sleep left available. Really hard to get up early for work anytime, but with less sleep - especially today. (That Friday 7=3:30 instead of 8-4:30.) It really hurts until about mid-mornings on Friday, but I'm excited to get started on my road trip this evening to my parents, so I'm trying to not complain.

 Bro Wilson and I talked- we are going to one service a week in church, just Sunday, with Wednesday night being live stream only. I hate it, but this mess has flared up again here bad. Bro Holmes's in Little Rock, Bro Shield's in Beebe, and several other upc and independent oneness churches I am familiar with have all had cases with some of them becoming a hot spot- Bro Holmes' has somewhere around 20 at least, I heard.  Trying to trust God, but also trying to be responsible. We have alot of older people in the congregation. :sadbounce:

We haven't seen any trouble with covid around here. Yet. But as residents of west Tennessee are mostly acting like it's no longer an issue, I can see where it's a-coming.

My dog is on an eight foot lead, attached to a two hundred seventy foot wire "run." I was riding the lawnmower around the yard and he was at the end of his run. He saw me coming and... you know that look a dog gets when he starts to panic? He couldn't leave his run, he didn't want to run past me, and there was nowhere else to go. He started pacing back and forth with his head down, trying to gauge if it was safe to make a run for it past the lawnmower.

I of course knew I was not going to run over my dog. But I didn't want him to panic, so I said, "Dan, go" and pointed to the end of his run. He went to the end of his run and sat down... exactly where he was before he saw the lawnmower coming. He kept watching me of course, but he was no longer panicked about the situation. The only difference was, this time he was there because I had told him to go there.

This didn't change anything else in his circumstances. There was still a big noisy lawnmower operating in the area, and he still had no idea where I was about to go with it. But I told him to go there, so he figured that was the safe place to be, because I had told him to go there.

Sometimes I wish I was as smart as my dog. I'd probably panic a lot less.

Prepared sermon. Went to church. God moved, sermon not needed. Sermon saved for another day. Addressed spirit of fear that has attacked church. Moving on in victory.

Seeing my parents was amazing. I hated to leave. Also my friend's daughter LOVED her present too. She's into princesses and bugs.. so of course I got her a bug vacuum, cage to hold said victims, and then a bug book to identify them with! She LOVED it, hahaha.

I simply refused to come in early today. I've been glued to this computer and other work related duties all date. I'm currently alternating between yelling "Oh, come ON!" and repenting for my wicked thoughts. It's really good I am not God today. I confess I would probably be throwing lightening bolts at some folks, especially my former co worker.

So, last night we lay down, and Chey comes in the bedroom, along with the fur babies. They decide to watch a movie. I could care less since I go to sleep before ever watching one. So, I doze off. Apparently a decision was made that the pups could sleep with us. I woke up sometime in the wee hours, and in my semi conscious state, apparently infringed upon Daisy the Devil-pup's personal space. She and I are somewhat alike- we are grouchy when awakened suddenly. She came to life with teeth and BIT my left eyebrow. I now have a 1)blackened eyelid and 2) a nice eyebrow piercing that I didn't plan on. I couldn't be mad at her- it was my fault. But it was embarrassing to tell my coworkers what had happened. I shoulda lied and said Lou punched me. :rofl: 

I can relate. Or rather, my uncle Fred can relate. Three dogs pile up in his recliner with him. If somebody knocks on the door, they leave skid marks. >.>

Had a couple of positive tests in my house, a couple of negatives, and now we are all stuck at home.  The sad part is all the stuff I need to do I cant do...this is gonna be a wild couple of weeks.

When they started popping off last night I went out to find my dog and he was huddled up against the house. I took his collar off and let him go, and he promptly went where I knew he would go - under uncle Fred's storage shed, where he feels safest.

I understand the thrill of fireworks, and I know they don't fire them to scare my dog... they may not even know I HAVE a dog... but part of me gets upset anyway because I don't like it when my dog is scared. Especially when it keeps going on for hours.

In local news, it was mentioned today at church that nobody has said anything about missing Sunday night service.

Before covid, we would have Sunday School at 9:30am, morning service at 10:30am, evening service at 6pm and Wednesday night service at 7pm.

I get the strong impression we may not ever go back to Sunday night service, and it disturbs me.

Sunday morning is when we have the most visitors. Wednesday night Bible study is when we learn something. Sunday night was when the saints got down to business praying. There was a lot of junk that got cleaned out of saints' lives on Sunday nights.

We went to the one service on Sunday format several years ago. I too worried about that. But to be honest, I don't think the church suffered for it. For a long while, we did Sunday school, then took a 15 minute break, then Sunday service. It was ok, but some of the elders felt it was a bit long for them. We now do Sunday School/bible study on Wednesday night, and have church on Sunday service, which is 5 pm. It works well for us. I do this- if it is a Bible study type thing that I feel the church needs, I'll override the Sunday school teacher and teach it. (Wednesday night was always bible study night) Otherwise, he teaches Sunday School. Then Sunday night is church and preaching.
 It might not work for everyone, but it does for us. It might also get changed too, in the future, if the bus ministry I am attempting to get outlined to begin after the Covid 19 junk is gone takes off.
In some ways I miss the two services on Sunday- the morning service, then everyone gathering for  dinner, then returning for service. But it had gotten to the point that Sunday nights were not well attended due to the distance some of our people were driving. Didn't make sense to cool the building and pay the expenses if over half the church wasn't showing up.
We were still doing prayer meeting, that kinda thing, and I was plotting for a revival when this Covid 19 hit. It has severely cramped my style. :pound:
Fact of the matter is- any schedule you have for church will cause some to rejoice, some to complain, and some to miss. I mentioned in passing changing our service time from 5 pm to a morning service at 10 am. Oh Lord, the outcry. Little Susie had to work and couldn't make it. Little Johnny had to do this or that Sunday morning.

And when we decided not to change it- Oh lord, Sis Joy (not real name) couldn't see to drive home in the evening- never mind the fact that 9 months out of 12 it is still daylight when we get out. Sis Peace had ongoing commitments in the evening. And Bro Happiness had to work at 3 am and would prefer to sleep earlier.
 Used to- people built their lives around God and church. Sadly, nowadays, people want to build church and God around their lives. Ain't gonna work- way I read my Book, that's not putting God where He demands to be.

Last night I set my dog free so he could hide under uncle Fred's storage building while the fireworks were going off.

Today I could not get him out from under it. Not because he was still terrified, but because he is not the slightest bit hungry.

"Food!" always works to get him out, no matter what. But this time I said "Food!" and he didn't even twitch.

I got a pack of smoked sausages and tossed him one. He sniffed at it and looked at me like, "Eh, I've seen better."

He's not hungry, he knows I will put him back on his run and he ain't going nowhere.

My mistake was getting the only dog in the animal shelter who looked like he had a brain in his head. It is clear that I should have gotten a dumb dog. Australian Shepherds are just too smart for my own good.

Urgh. Back at work. Ready to go home. Attempted to mow the yard before yesterday's monsoon, and bent a lawnmower blade. No prob, I'll run and get one at Walmart. Oh no. Walmart decided they would stop selling parts like that , which they have sold for 40 years. Now I gotta order one and wait for it to come in. :pound:

Talking about dogs and fireworks...

We were sitting on our front lawn just past dusk on the 4th, waiting for the local fireworks show to start.  It was really a murky dark, with some visible traces of light filtering down from the setting sun.  All around us fireworks were going off.

Suddenly a dog came tearing down the road.  I guess he got spooked too.  He was a black shadowy streak flying down the road at full speed.  As we heard him approach I had long enough to say "Do you hear that..." and he was past us and gone.

Ive never seen a dog move so fast in my life.

This morning the dog was delighted to see me, and positively EAGER to get that collar back around his neck. He knows he gets fed right after I put the collar back on him. Pickings must have been slim.

Its a fundraiser idea the youth group at my church came up with called the Golden Potty Award  They spray painted a potty gold and put it in church members yard for a maximum of 3 days.  The church member can keep it those 3 days or they can...

Flush the potty:  pay $10 to have it removed early

Plunge the potty:  pay $10 to designate the next recipient of the golden potty

Clean the potty:  pay $20 for seasonal insurance to insure the potty never shows up in their yard


If you don't have the seasonal insurance the potty can show up in your yard more than once.  When they did the fundraiser a few years ago it showed up in Pastor's yard 4 different times.  Based on recent Facebook posts, I suspect it was my Pastor and his wife who sent the golden potty to me.

As I pulled up to a stop light, I reached and took a swig of the delicious concoction, the first of the morning. It was RUINED. Is there anything nastier than having a mouthful of sour milk and no place to spit!!!. Oh, but I was ticked. The whole "Renew a right spirit within me" verse came into play. :pound:

Going to try to cook a boneless pork loin when I get home. I have asparagus to cook as well. And I'm also going to try a way to get me to eat cucumbers. I have Chive & Onion cream cheese and top that with Everything Bagel Seasoning on top of sliced cucumbers. Hopefully I can learn how to successfully slice a cucumber without butchering it. Here's hoping it's all edible!  (I've never been much of a cucumber fan, but I'm hoping this makes them edible for me.)

The only way to make a cucumber edilble is to pickle it. :lol:
And pork loin- my go to. You really need a smoker. Slice a pocket lengthwise in it, mix your favorite chunky salsa ( I use Peach Mango salsa, it pairs nicely with pork), cheddar cheese and a bit of brown sugar.. Pour that in the pocket, wrap the loin in bacon, season it with a bbq rub and brown sugar, and smoke it at 220 ish for about 3 hours or until internal temp is 170 ish. About once every thirty minutes, spray it with apple juice. Delicious and tender if you don't over cook it. I smoke with hickory, apple, or a blend of the two woods.

Fried cucumbers are good. Stewed cucumbers are also good, chopped up and mixed in the squash.

A few days ago I made some Mediterranean potato salad, with zucchini and cucumber mixed up in it, along with lemon juice, oil, salt and a bit of dill weed.

Sharing- I am happy. God has blessed us again. Several years ago, we made the mistake of buying a living room suite that was beautiful- but was bonded leather. Over the last year or two, it has progressively gotten worse, with the top grain coming off. It looked like the furniture had mange. :mad: It had to go!
Lou and I recently looked at a living room suite- couch, loveseat and recliner, all a nice chocolate brown cloth- and was able to get the price down to $1100. Cheap and decent, but not cheap enough for the budget now. I told Lou we should hold off a bit and see if we get another stimulus before we drain savings. Started to go back and get it anyway, but the budget really couldn't swing it. :mad:
Yesterday, my coworker mentioned her parents had recently purchased a living room suite, but after getting it, decided they would rather buy real leather, not cloth. They offered to sell it to me cheap. Keep in mind, none smoking, no pets, and less than a year old furniture.... I inquired of the price. Couch, loveseat and recliner, all a nice chocolate brown cloth for $500. I just bought the EXACT furniture Lou picked out- at less than half the good deal price. It literally had the little tags from the furniture store showing the care of it still on the back of the furniture. God is SO good!

Did you warn them about that leather they were wanting to get? They might catch mange from it... :p

I have actually simply baked the pork loin in the oven, after seasoning, at around 225, and sprayed it with apple juice as in the smoker to keep it moist. It comes out ok- I prefer the smoked flavor of the smoker- but you have to watch not to over cook it. If you go much over 170,175 internal temp, you'll have a flavorful equivalent of boot leather, in my experience. :lol:
With  pork loin, in my opinion, a stuffing of some sort is nearly mandatory, to give it flavor. Another of my favorites is to finely dice cooking apples, mix with brown sugar and diced onions, and stuff it in the "pocket" you cut in the loin. With Pork, apple and citrus, apple especially, pairs really well and adds a bit of flavor that it needs. And I've done that in the oven lots of times before I got a smoker.

The beauty of a crock pot is, the recipe is whatever you want to go in it. Toss in anything you think will fit with what is already in the pot.

You don't need a recipe. Just a spice rack. :teeth:

AT&T Prepaid. But you can't get it on an existing number, and you can't get it at the local store. It has to be a new SIM card ordered online.

We are edging ever closer to the first stroll down the road with his new highway geared rear end and assorted new parts. I'll have to hold up on much more for a bit and let the pocketbook recover. The low budget swap that I didn't think would cost more than $300-$400 is sitting closer to $1000 and that pretty much drains the Man Toy Fun Fund...lol.

Actually they are cheap black shoes, basically a piece of rubber with some fabric on top. But they are zero-drop (the heel is not thicker than the toe, so I can walk as though I was barefoot... but without getting my feet cut by whatever might be on the ground,) they are nice enough to wear to church, and yesterday I tested them at w*rk and found they don't slip on greasy floors. Oh yeah, and they are $17.

But they are sold at karatemart, and they are marketed as kung fu shoes. =^.^=

I was googling around for some zero-drop shoes that would not break my wallet and google turned these up. Now that I've tested them, I'm going to buy twelve pairs. Every time I find something that works well for me at a low price, they stop making it.

I have two at my workstation and I LOVE it. Adding a third would be nice, so I could keep my email on #1, and then work off of #2 and #3.

@Work. I think I'm babysitting as well. Coworker (who is the Owner's DIL) had to drive 2 hours one way to give her son his SS card, and her granddaughter stays here with her at work. She didn't want to go with her, so she's watching funny animal videos on YouTube. I didn't realize at the time that she was going to be gone so long.. I'm a little nervous about lunchtime. LOL. She's 5, and we have a sibling relationship.. like.. we fight and then we are friends again. It's quite humorous most of the time, but she's also pretty sweet sometimes. LOL.


I think we are ALL going to like having your daughter here! LOL..


My poor husband was supposed to go into work at 10:30 today, but got called in two hours early. On the way into work this morning, he said it's going to be a very late day. Several call-outs so they're looking at 12-13 hour day out in the heat delivering mail. Poor guy. I've had very few days where I've been asleep when he came home from work, but it sounds like today might be another one. (I go to bed between 9:30 and 10, fyi)

It's so hot & humid that when I went out to do a few chores I came back dripping wet. I had to wash up & change.

I decided to make him a buttermilk pie for when he got in, Perfect Daughter? Yes, I am :hypocrite:

Someone said buttermilk pie, so here I am!  :teeth:

Actually I'm still recovering from the buttermilk pie flood of 2018. I made enough buttermilk pie filling to fill an industrial size roasting pan (about 22 inches long) and baked it with crushed pears and cinnamon on top.

Of course it was not all eaten at the church dinner, so I had a lot of buttermilk pie with pears to eat over the next few weeks. I also found if you freeze it, it's still sticky... my usual method of freezing stuff and cutting it into small portions to stash in the deep freeze wouldn't work here.

This may sound like heresy to some, and before it happened this would sound like heresy to me, but... I don't want no more buttermilk pie for a while.

Ugh.

We haven had power since Saturday night.  Bad storms rolled through and wiped out all the power in town.  We are part of the last line to be restored.  Thank Go for a generator, but I'm tired of the drone of that engine.

I'm ready for air conditioning and electricity.

My brother & SIL arrived last night at my parents. Very much surprised my mom, but my dad maintains that he had an idea it was happening. LOL. I am also going down this weekend and coming back Monday sometime, I hope.

Our Tennessee vacation in October was cancelled due to COVID, but I think we may still go to Nevada to see our friends there. (This is the family we go on our bigger vacations with, or we go to their home!)

Im glad to report that power came back on finally!

The air conditioner man had to come out and look at the unit.  The house finally cooled down at about midnight.  I went out and looked at the condensation pipe when I got home and it looked like an artesian well...LOL  I guess 3 days of heat can really bring in the humidity.

@Work. Went to bed too late, so I'm a little extra sleepy today.

My parents a/c has died twice this week. Hopefully the guy can get it fixed today when he goes out again. Apparently I get my "hotry" from my mother (it's when you get hot, and it makes you angry. Like hangry, but with heat.) I had to talk her off the ledge a few times when she was chompin at the bits to argue with someone LOL. Distracted her with the idea of a puzzle, a cold glass of sweet tea, and if all else failed, go take a cold shower & sit in front of a fan. I personally am really praying they get it fixed up so that I can still come this weekend. I cannot do 80+ degrees in their house with 4 other people, or they'll be talking ME off the ledge too hahahaha. Even in the winter, I would pretty much combust in 80+ degrees.

HA! I guess I'm a weirdo. We didn't have AC until I was 18 or so, and it doesn't bother me that much. I like the AC and appreciate it- but I ride around in arkansas summers in a black truck with no ac and only consider putting ac in it a couple of times a year. Now heat- I gotta have heat. Could be because I grew up with wood heat and my mama had one philosophy in the winter time- pile on the wood. If it wasn't 80 degrees she was shivering. :lol:

Morning all. Back at work. Trying to keep a god spirit. One of my coworkers, who I love dearly found out about my rating on our yearly evaluations. Another coworker had walked in and saw it on my desktop while I was reviewing it, and apparently told her. It seems hers was not quite that high, and now I get snarky comments frequently, like " Hey Highly Effective, how do you do this?" I love the kid, honestly would have rated her as high as me were I the supervisor, and can't fix this.  I asked her, do you want me to go to the supervisor and ask him to take my rating back and give me a lower one? I didn't ask for the rating, just did my job like I always do....
Oh well, I'll stay in my office and hopefully she will move on. There's nothing I can do. And she isn't mad at me, just annoyed at the rating. I wish the other coworker, who left for another job two days later  would've kept her mouth shut. :pound:

@Work. Tomorrow is Arkansas day!! Woohooo. They got the a/c repaired yesterday and were busy painting scenes on canvas when I called last evening.

I'm also a little excited because.. I got an adapter for their tv. Now, if they cancel physical services and go online this weekend, we can still watch at their house using my phone and this adapter. (They don't have internet.) It's insane to me that I can literally cast my phone onto a tv. Technology is neat.


I'm also STARVING for pizza. Like.. Literally. The thought of biting into a hot slice of yummy cheese. Ah..

Actually, I would've thought the kid met that expectation.  It's a weird place for me- I know I am liked by my supervisor, and appreciate the favor shown by God, but I DO work hard at doing whatever is assigned to me with all my might. I trained the coworker, who is a close friend, which is probably why she feels free to make these comments. They are done in a joking manner, but I know there is some real hurt there, and I don't know how to respond.

Basically it boils down to "We're Americans, we have rights, and even if it's a matter of life or death YOU CAN'T TELL US WHAT TO DO CAUSE WE GOT RIGHTS!"

That's one reason I like my dog a lot better than a lot of people. I say "No!" and he stops doing whatever he's doing. He doesn't growl at me or try to hide what he's doing or take whatever he's doing and run away, and he doesn't act as though I've insulted him by telling him no.

When they announced that certain stores here are requiring it.. I thought.. "I was under the impression that this was already mandatory?! I've been wearing them EVERYwhere not only to save myself, save my family, but also to follow the rules!" lol.. I get the arguments against, but I really just want my family and friends, and those of others to stay alive.

@Work. Started the day off as a Grump. I'll admit it. LOL. Hopefully as the day flows, the happiness seeps in. I'm already a little peppier than I was when I first woke up. I cannot WAIT to sleep in tomorrow at my parents house and wake up to YUMMY breakfast!! I'm staying there until Monday so that I can soak up that extra family time. Hopefully that's all I soak up. My bro/sis make me nervous in that.. they go see people when they're visiting, and we are nervous they are going to get accidental exposure to the virus.

And to Chey's delight we are touring the Greek Revival Mansion today. The buyer backed out and it's back on the market, cheaper. We are gonna LOOK. I won't promise anything further.

Its been another hot sweaty day in Indiana.  I had to run freight for the office/back to school department as well for the electronics department tonight.  Walmart starts requiring face masks for customers Monday. Rather glad I'm not the person stationed at the door.  I wouldn't want to deal with irate customers.

Yeah the job of door greeter has gotten a LOT worse the past three months. I've started feeling sorry for them.

We came, we saw, we ate, we went home to cool down.

This afternoon our church had a big dinner outside. (Covid, y'know.) Fried catfish, french fries, hushpuppies in the deep fryer, hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill, lemonade and tea in bottles in the coolers, cookies on the side, ice cream very briefly before it all melted.

The catfish did not come from a box in a freezer and the hushpuppies were not made in a factory. I tanked up on them and didn't even look at the hot dogs and hamburgers.

Right up until time to eat we didn't know if it would be a boom or a bust. It was really hot out there, and I wouldn't have blamed anybody who stayed at home. But we had about all the church show up. And they didn't grab a plate and get back home to their AC, we all hung around and chatted.

The dinner was complicated because the pastor called about an hour and a half before eating time to say he was driving his wife to the ER with chest pains. She's back home now, and we managed without her direction. It was odd not having her to tell us where she wanted this and that placed during setup though.

:hi: Hot here today,too. Went for a small drive. Dropped off Sam parts. Mowed the yard, then took a chainsaw to brush on the property line. Got a bunch cut up, but not hauled off- that'll wait for an evening when I get home. Too hot to mess with much.

We just got back from my eldest daughter's new place. Took some stuff to her and hubby helped get some electrical plugs hooked up for her. I was glad to see their place but also glad to be home.

We had a guest preacher at church this morning.  Used Mark chapter 16 to talk about God can still move large stones aka the problems in our life.

At work. Been a long day already and it's not yet noon. I've made some mad already, denied some plans to get out of prison, done a ton of paperwork and am now eating a salad that has a smoked chicken breast diced up in it. Been three days since I had a normal soda- I have drank a diet soda however.
Currently have nearly no one in the house happy with me- as much as I love the Manor house we looked at, I really have concerns about going deeper into debt. Lou wants to live up town and likes it. Chey wants the room and the style of the house. I love it too- but as I told them I have to be sensible and do what is best for the family in the long run.

That's why you have a dog. No matter how unpopular your decisions, the dog still piles up in your lap. :)

:hi: in a mandatory CPR class- thanks to the pandemic it is virtual, which actually suits me well. The quality of the video and sound lacks though. But with my nice three screen setup, I have it playing in the background while I work away on things  I NEEDED to do. I like.

@Work. I'm not unhappy/grumpy about it, but I mean... independently wealthy would be fun too. LOL. At least it's payroll day, which means we get paid Friday! (I do the payroll hahaha)

Husband's car is going into the shop in the morning for an oil change and a rogue check engine light. Hopefully it'll be quick fixes. Then Friday my car is going to get an oil change. I have a feeling they'll finally say I need new tires.

I enjoy my job. Would totally rather be independently wealthy. Heck, Dependently wealthy would be ok. I just wish I had scads of money, which would enable me to have scads of time to do the things I truly love. LOL

:hi: At work. Participating in interviews. Doing them by zoom which is different. Not really a fan, but it is working. Praying we get some good candidates. So far, I'm not impressed with any of them, overly.

@Work for now. Husband woke up early this AM in pain and we were up for a while trying to figure out how to make it stop. It calmed down by a few percentages and he was able to rest a little, but he was concerned that it might be his appendix, so we took him to the VA. Due to their remodel of the ER and the COVID19 situation, I couldn't wait there with him like we normally would. So.. I drove the 15 min to work. I'll work here until I hear from him.

So thankful for the VA and that these kinds of trips don't cost extra money, so we don't have to avoid going to get things looked at. I just wish their regular clinics had access in the evenings or weekends so that it wasn't a choice between missing a day of work or having medical things taken care of. Not everyone who is a veteran is retired, and I wish they would realize that in their treatment facilities. I hate that we have to come to their ER when something happens instead of going to a primary.

Anywho. I was able to get a little sleep and thankful for a job who is flexible.

I bet the VA is a bit of a relief financially. When Lou smashed her finger unloading my grill with me, we had to go to the ER....no long wait, but it cost me $1,084...

Yes! When we first got married, he almost cut his finger off. He went to the local ER (literally a block from our home) and it was EXPENSIVE! We found out then about the VA and that he can get things taken care of there. I'm not sure why he didn't know about that before, but I'm thankful we know now! He's been able to get his stomach surgery (gastric sleeve), gallbladder removed, appendix removed now, and he will eventually have to have some sort of back surgery I'm sure due to the degenerative disk (disc?) disease he has in his spine. Plus he's been able to get disability for his foot and back for injuries that happened while they were at sea. They've caused problems/pain since then, and it's nice to finally have that documented.

I've been to a few yard sales, then doing some chores.

I've been @work, left, and then came back to work. Husband is finally home from the hospital and hopefully still resting. I came back to work because I have an oil change at 4pm, and I cannot miss this one.

Dropped off some more of Sam's parts and we put his rear end under him. Monday, I'll drive and pick up the driveshaft. Hopefully, Ole Sammy boy will be back on the road next week. Oh, and I've found the paint I want for it, too. International Blue.

Everyone is awful quiet today. :pound: Did little today. Right shoulder has flared up again- about once a year it begins to hurt badly, so bad I can't lift my arm very high. That time of year is apparently here. I took tomorrow off since it is Chey's birthday. We went out tonight after church to Colton's for her birthday and she enjoyed time with her bf. I was glad we did- I talked with his grandpa, and really needed his words of wisdom. I have a tendency to get overloaded and pull back to myself. Mini, Taco and him are about the only ones that catch it, and I can occasionally hide from the brothers as they rely on text and calls. Not as easy to hide from the one that sees ya every week. His counsel is so much appreciated...

And I guess I'll put this out there. Several months back, I requested prayer over an unspecified big deal in our life.  This is what it was/is.
My pastor is advancing in years and expressed a desire to step back, a couple of years ago. He approached me, and I plainly did not want the job. I told him as much, trying to convince myself that it wasn't God's will. I struggled to be a preacher and a christian, much less a pastor.
Another young couple came in. Very anointed preacher, and I will always love him. He was "q'ed" up to pastor and I thought I was released. Strangely, I still felt a draw and an ache. I put it off as normal concern over a change as my pastor has been my pastor for 30+ years. 
Things didn't work out with the other young man and he moved on, around the end of August last year. I was  then asked if I would pray about it and step up. Lou and I talked and prayed, we were in full agreement.  Both of us had felt for some time that we had made a mistake by not agreeing the first time, but didn't see a way out, as the other young man was here. I would never knowingly do anything to hurt him, and I pray that God moves mightily in his life and ministry.
 Long story short, I agreed to  step up and follow God into the unknown, since I had nearly been driven insane, literally. In the past 10 months, I have been the acting pastor, as both Bro Wilson  and Sis Wilson has had health issues  they've been dealing with . Bro Wilson isn't going anywhere, and will be "Bishop". He has referred to me as Pastor for a while, which has wrecked my world, as I don't know how I will ever fill the shoes of that man. It makes me cry every time he says it or texts me it.
This is not what I wanted, truthfully. But, I will tell you that I KNOW I am in God's will, and, well, His will ain't always mine. And now- I find I want it more than anything. My being, my life, my everything is now in wanting to see my little church grow, protect my people, and  in doing the will of God. There are tons of challenges ahead. My entire church is behind me- I've been told a couple of times recently, by people who have known me all my life " I'm proud to call you pastor".
So far, we have not formalized everything, no installation service or anything like that- alot of which the Covid 19 stuff has hindered. But the reins have steadily been handed to me. I told Bro Wilson, "I'm in no hurry. I just want to be in the will of God, and if that is cleaning the toilets, I have a brush. Mowing the lawn, I have a mower. Preaching the word, I have a voice.  The name on the sign don't mean anything to me." As long as he is alive, he is my pastor and his word will ALWAYS supersede mine- I've seen the fruits of that tree and know them to be good.
I owe my brothers Taco and Mini the world. Without their encouragement, their bluntness, their wisdom, I would never have had the courage to follow the leading of God.
I'm scared to death. But I know I CAN'T do this- but God can. All I have to do is follow Him. So- that's a condensed- yes, condensed version- of my life the past year, and probably why I come across as bipolar. LOL. On the bright side, while I think God could've found a better mouthpiece, he could not have found a better First Lady. My wife, my rock, has been anointed for this all of her life. Together, the storms will blow, and we will survive.

I had to join church service via Facebook live stream this morning after learning yesterday that I may have been exposed to Covid-19 at work.  Felt really strange to watch my church do communion and not be there to be able to participate. Our youth pastor preached this morning from James chapter 3 a sermon titled "Watch Your Mouth" reminding us that our words have the power to build up or destroy. 2 families were voted into church membership at the end of the service.

Bobby: I'm glad you're there to take the job, because I think you're a good man for the position. And I'm glad it scares you to death. You won't make most of the mistakes more confident people would make. :)

Now you know why Solomon prayed for wisdom. "How would I know how to lead Your people just by my little self?"

Now if only that house y'all have been looking at would drop just a bit more in price. It is a lot closer to the church, right?

Yeah...I struggled with it. And when Corona virus hit, it just added to the worry. Thankfully, Bro Wilson is staying, so I won't be thrown to the wolves so to speak. I had thought to work my 11 years I have left with the state, join the Deferred Option Retirement Program the state offers and do a couple more years, then retire to the mountains away from everyone. Now I am looking more at working my 11 remaining years and pulling the plug to focus on the church. But, things change often, so we will just see where God leads.

If your plans had gone off as intended you would have been bored stiff, and you'd have a lot of regrets about wasted time. (Though a few years of peace DOES sound lovely...)

Just realized I hadn't checked in since like first of July.
Which is approximately when I took over the Schnucks payroll. So makes sense. Doing an extra 98 stores payroll has been kicking my tail.

My parents are officially moving to Indiana. The got a house there two weeks ago.
They gotta sell the one here. Mom has to finish out one more year of teaching. So who knows what will happen cus of covid.

But...I'm still here and alive. Just tryna figure things out in life.
I turned 35 last week. That feels weird.

And in sharing- my day stunk...I did like 22 office visits among other things. Then got home, and Lou had to go back to town to drop off our niece who had spent the night. I got a call a short time later. A probationer driving without a license, with his parolee girlfriend, attempted a u turn- right in front of Lou. No where to go, she hit him at 55 mph. She and Chey are sore, but God had his hand on them and kept them from serious injury. I fear that's not the case with the Lincoln. If it isn't totaled, I'll be surprised. Fenders, hood, grill, radiator, bumper, both air bags, ect. Tow truck driver said he'd guess $8k in damages, plus the airbags that are over a grand apiece.
And...it doesn't look like the at fault party has insurance. Thank God we have good insurance and uninsured motorist.
Now the waiting game to see what the insurance company says..

When something like that affects you personally, can one of your partners take on that probationer's case to avoid conflict of interest?

I know if I had that guy's case and that happened with somebody in my family, it sure would be a conflict of MY interest to handle his case from then on. Christian or not, I'd be conflicted about my interest in putting him under the prison.

Uh... To make sure he won't hurt anybody else, of course.

Fortunately, he was not on my caseload. He knows me and recognized me- The couple recognized Lou, but I think it was from Walmart. When I pulled up in the state's car, which is a cop car without markings, and got out, their faces dropped and the female began crying.
Yeah, my personal feelings towards the situation are not exactly what a Christian should have. I shall have to have two things this morning- more prayer and more coffee.

So now I've shut our church down through next Sunday, encouraged my people to keep an eye on themselves, and will do a deep cleaning Saturday. If no other cases pop up , maybe we can have church again on the 9th.

And in sharing- it's official. The other party had no insurance. Rough estimate on Lou's car is $11k in damage. My insurance will be taking care of us. I suspect we will be car shopping within the next week or two. I wanted to cry. That car was SO beautiful and our family loved it.

I'm SOO over Covid. Having 32 pharmacies with probably about 12 being covid testing sites is killing me. Especially in my Tulsa market. Cus they can't work if they have symptoms. They have to go get tested and wait the 2-10 days for results. And last minute coverage when I'm already understaffed succcckksssss.

Oh, it was 110% Lou's car. Her baby, even. We have always operated like this- we have one nice vehicle. It is the family car used for road trips, church, and Lou's daily driver. The other things we have are my choice of vehicles which are usually ancient, lacking air conditioning, and generally not something you would take long distance. The exception was my last Corvette- it was nice, dependable and had a/c, so of course my dumb butt sold it.
I keep Rusty road trip ready, but let's face it- no a/c, a tiny cab, and minimal windshield wipers regulate it to trips only with someone who doesn't mind those things. That would be me.
I get to ride in Lou's vehicle on trips and church trips. So, yes, I HAVE gotten to like the smoother ride, and had dreamed of getting me a nice truck with some of those features. Unfortunately, I suspect the events of the past week have pushed that thought further away from me. Everything I'm finding comparable to what we had is about $6 grand more than what I owed. This means either we settle for less, which I really don't want to do- Lou works her tail off and all she's ever really asked for was a nice vehicle- or spend more, which means longer to pay off.

And just like that, our revival has flown the coop. LOL
Got up today and spent most of the day looking for and test driving vehicles. My lord, prices have risen.
Looked at a beautiful new Ram 1500. Lou thought she wanted a truck. Love it. Loved everything about it, in fact, until we began on the price. I quickly found out that the one we looked at- not a loaded-with-leather-finery, but a fairly low end model- was priced IN THE MID $40k's. No. No, I cannot pay over 3/4 of what I paid for my house for a pickup!!
Even a slightly used model with 26k miles was north of $30k.
Right now, I am undecided what to do. We found a nice older Ford F150 with under 100k on it for $13k, and my choice- a one owner '98 GMC Jimmy that is in perfect condition. I love the Jimmy because it's $3500, has ice cold air and hot heat, and is a cash car- meaning my budget would benefit from the lack of a car payment. Right now, that is the way we are leaning- in a year or two, if Lou wants, we will be better positioned to buy Lou a newer ride, and Chey can take the Jimmy for a daily. It's a drag being an adult. You gotta say no to all those things you want that everyone else said no for you when you were younger. Years ago, the finance manager would've said "No" for me...today, He smiles and offers to let me take the $30k+ truck AND a mid $20k Challenger I glanced at.
Dangerous ground for an impulse buyer with a love for autos. Dangerous ground...

Saturdays are always slow around here.

Truck prices are ridiculous now days.

I couldn't even afford new tires for one of these behemoths that people consider normal pickup trucks these days.

What happened to the tiny Datsuns and Nissans I grew up with? They were solid, dependable, small, did a lot of work and still easy to find a parking space for.

You ain't lying. I was amazed by both the Ram and the F150....I could LIVE in the cab. They are massive. I remember the little D50 Dodges, the S10's, the Rangers.... They don't even MAKE a true compact anymore.

That makes absolutely no sense to me. I liked the small trucks.

It makes me sick to know that vehicles cost as much as my house, hahaha.

Well, we did the smart thing, I think, even though it was not what we wanted. I bought the Jimmy today for $3600. I DID have to order a $130 stereo, as the radio in it was bad. But this gets rid of a loan payment. We will reassess in a few months and see if we are going to make this a permanent move or if we are going to upgrade Lou's ride.
Today was kinda long, even with me leaving an hour early to buy the car. Now, one down, 4 to go...

This is the Monday-est Tuesday I've ever had. :pound:
The day is crawling by, and I don't really wanna be here. And I have went old school- I actually ordered something from Crutchfield for the first time since I was a kid. - that's where I ordered the new radio from. Had to stop 19 year old me from surfacing and ordering amps and 12 woofers to go with it. I'm also battling the desire for cool wheels and a 2/4 drop. That's the problem with buying the same body style vehicle you used to have as a kid. On look at those softly curving fenders put me back in the "slam it, make it loud and add chrome" mindset. LOL

It's good you did the smart thing.

This heat makes me wish for a swimming pool.

Jeremy slow cooked that pork loin yesterday and it was GOOD. He's only got 3 days left of for-sure quarantine (counting today). Too bad we couldn't knock out some honey-do projects. Stinkin' appendix, haha.

Nothing to report here. Just looks like it might rain. We don't usually get this much rain in the summer. I'm not complaining.

I've been busy today trying to clean up my depression nest.  The clutter was starting to close in on me.

After more than FOUR MONTHS I finally got my tax return. I sent it in back in late March. The past two months I have been wondering if it got lost, and if I was going to get a call from the tax enforcer... er, the IRS asking me why I had not filed.

I can't shake the feeling they owe me interest... Usually when you hold somebody's money for a while you have to pay interest.

I got the stereo in for Lou's car. As soon as she gets home I will install it.
 My anxiety has flared a bit today. But, I know if I leave everything in God's hands, it'll be ok.

My allergies decided to flare up and plug up my nose and sinuses and make me miserable. Took medicine to try to clear it out and the medicine is keeping me wide awake.

Jeremy goes to the doc at the VA today to be hopefully released to go back to work. He's hoping he can go tomorrow morning. His coworkers are as well because it's his birthday on Sunday, and he will be bringing donuts and OJ! lol..


Jeremy wanted a Chicago-style pizza last night for celebration of the nearing end to his quarantine. I don't really care for red sauce or pizza sauce, so I did not even try it. He said it was good. I tried their Italian beef. I've decided I will no longer order those out anywhere because I prefer the homemade version of them anyway.

So ready for sleeping in tomorrow.

Speaking of cars I paid mine off last week. SO EXCITED!

I called off work today.  The medicine I took to clear out my blocked sinuses kept me awake all night and left me feeling worse.

This has been a day. I awoke and had dizziness this morning- like when you stand up too quick, only it didn't go away. I went to work, and went out on home visits. While 17 miles down a dirt road, no exaggeration, I stepped up onto a porch and nearly passed out.
That did it. I came back to town and got in to see my doctor. They ran an EKG which looked good and have drawn blood for blood work. Doctor said it may just be dehydration. I'm back at the office now, not feeling as dizzy, but still not 100%.

My temperature shot up to 100 this evening.  :sadbounce:

Oh yah, I got that back in early May.

That's actually the reason I haven't been going spare about the tax return. The stimulus check was almost $300 more than my tax refund, so I took the viewpoint that even if I never got the tax return I still came out ahead. And I didn't have big plans made around either of those checks, so it didn't matter much when they got here.

In local news, I may never see my dog again.

Every time Dan gets off his run, he goes right to uncle Fred's storage shed and crawls under it. He's happy to lie there all day, or at least all the time that he doesn't spend going around the neighborhood getting into trash cans and cat food bowls... So I moved the endpoint of his 270' run to go right by Fred's shed, so he can lie under there whenever he wants.

Now... I may as well make a flower bed out of his dog house. He'll never use it again.



In other local news, the local grocery store runs a pretty good lunch bar. Recently they have started putting out leftovers in little pint containers for two bucks a piece. Chicken rotel spaghetti, mashed potatoes (with REAL potatoes, not instant glue!) mac-and-cheese, tater salad, broccoli...

I may never cook again. :teeth:

I finally got some sleep last night.  My muscles ache but overall I'm feeling better.  I'm scheduled to work today.  I'm not sure if I'll be allowed to work after my fever spike last night.  The official health check from corporate says I'm supposed to be fever free without fever reducing medication for 3 days before I can return to work but same health check deemed me at risk Thursday and instructed to send me home but they let me stay at work anyway.

Valid question. Nah. I never have tried to project that I'm the baddest man in the valley. But I do work in the same area I policed in, and I have a reputation for being fair. I also have a reputation for not taking none sense off of anyone and being able to take care of myself, which has spread from my less gentle, not as godly time on the force.

One of my toughest coworkers is a 53 year old 4 foot 8 160 lb black woman. Nothing physically imposing,but I've watched her line out a 6'7, 300 lb offender and have him apologizing. 90 % of this job is reputation and confidence.
And in the particular house I was at- I was just investigating a parole plan, so the offender didn't live there yet. And, I was able to grab a porch railing and steady myself before the occupant came to the door- I don't think she knew she nearly had an unconscious parole officer on her porch.
 In sharing, I feel better today, some minor traces of the dizziness, but not bad. I've also bought a 7lb chub of petit jean bologna, sliced it in 2 inch thick slices, and have it smoking for dinner tonight. Throttle- FULL REDNECK. :lol:

Locally made, smoked bologna... I'm not even a fan of bologna and I'd give that a try.

Jeremy's back to work today! Hoping this helps our home to get a little back to "normal" as far as schedules and whatnot.

I'm feeling much better and almost normal today.  I was getting around for work when my assistant manager called and asked if my schedule for today could be changed from 12-9 to 1-10 since our store is now open till 10 pm.  She's wanting to change my schedule for the rest of the week too.

We had a gourmet lunch of tuna sandwiches. :lol:

:pound: I is 44, not in my 50s. Doc called, all my blood work was good. He said if the dizziness returns or continues, he will refer me to a cardiologist for further investigation, but right now I should be ok.

Dodged a bullet- an old friend came by to see me and before he left I'd bought a motorcycle. Kinda. I have a young lady in my office that wants one. I agreed to let her have dibs on it. If she doesn't like it, I'll buy it. It was too good a deal to pass up, and I'll make money on it if that is the case.

Have I mentioned how much I dislike working on state projects? Because I do.. I dislike their confusing paperwork.

 Back at work. Have court today as well. :pound: I hope it will be brief. Unfortunately our judge is known to hear a case and take a half hour break. Court sometimes runs until 7 pm.  Made it through the day. My 50 % chance of having to teach turned into a 100% chance. Went in a bit early, studied, began to pray while I sat on the platform with no one there. Told God I needed to feel some peace for a bit, a refuge from life. Went sound to sleep sitting there. I guess He answered me. LOL.
Taught the lesson and was surprised by a homemade pineapple upside down birthday cake from some of my church people. I feel so loved. And maybe a tad stuffed. Apparently I wasn't supposed to eat half the cake..

You are supposed to eat the whole cake... but not all at once.

It seems to be a problem endemic to pastors. Our pastor is big on honey buns. A dear, sweet, well-meaning church member made him a homemade honey bun cake for his birthday. He ate... um... far too much of it, and spent the rest of the night regretting it, and then ate some more of it the next morning.

This is the same guy who once ate SEVEN of my sourdough cinnamon rolls, with cream cheese icing (that was a choice - I had the icing in a separate bowl for those who wanted it) and then refused to play softball with the youth group. He said they swelled up on him.

I enjoyed a piece of fruit for breakfast. It was surrounded in a cooked batter. I'm fixing to enjoy more fruit. Lord, I do love my pineapple upside down cake. :lol:
Edging closer to the weekend

I just drove an hour and shelled out $230 for some cheese...

Okay, first it was goat cheese. Second, it was a large amount, like eight or nine pounds. Third, it was not the sour, mushy stuff most people think of as goat cheese. Fourth, don't look at me like that.

I love cheeses but cow cheeses make my sinuses go into hyperdrive. It's like having a cold for the rest of the day. Goat cheeses, those I can eat all day long.

Also southwest Tennessee is a gastronomic wasteland. You just can not get specialty foods anywhere short of Nashville. But I found, not a store that sold this stuff, but a farm where they raise goats and make cheese.

Also this is a very good cheese. The taste is kind of like a cross between brie, swiss and havarti, but more salty and more sharp. The texture is halfway between mild cheddar and brie.

Also I got my tax return four months after I filed my taxes, I have no big plans for that money, and this was less than a third of my tax return. Easy decision to make.

I am very happy.

The lady asked how I wanted the rounds of cheese cut up before she vacuum-packed them. I said just cut them up in chunks...

"Oh wait, I do need three slices that are real thin, to give to some people to try. Make them thin enough that I don't have to cry when I give them away."

They came out looking about like the gouda wedges you find at Kroger. That's about perfect.

On the sleepy struggle bus today.

Heading to STL on Monday for work. Then gonna drive the 2.5 hours (on CVS's dime lol) to Terre Haute and spend the weekend with my fam bam. CANT WAIT to squish my niece and nephew.

Shew. Busy all day today. Didn't think quitting time would ever get here. Going to enjoy the weekend....do just what I want, nothing more.

Robbie cooked the best fajita meat I have ever had! He grilled it and sliced it, and the whole table of us loved it!

Shew. I feel guilty. It's been at least three days since I posted. :pound:. Been busy. Friday was work...Saturday I mowed and cleaned up around the house, went car shopping as it is clear the stop-gap Jimmy is NOT Lou's favorite thing, and enjoyed a belated birthday dinner with Bro Wilson.
 Sunday- I had located my old red Corvette and left a note inquiring as to the owner's intentions. He texted back and before church I went and looked at it. I wanted to cry. It has a few more scratches, interior dirty, bald tires and has developed a miss. The guy wants the same price for it that I paid for it five years ago, when it was in much better shape and had 30 thousand fewer miles on it. I won't do that.
But- on the way home, I drove by a house where a late 70's Corvette has been parked for a while. I've been stalking it for potential parts for Chey's but apparently they were working on it as it was frequently moved. To my surprise a friend of mine stood in the yard this time so I stopped. It was his kids' house. Long story short, the 'vette was his. And he likes to trade. So I MAY be trading a Scotty camper for another Corvette. Why? I don't know, it needs rescuing and I can build mine right along Chey's. LOL. Lou is so gonna kill me for this car addiction.
We still haven't found her a ride.
And I am back at work. As usual people are the bane of my existence today. Right now, were I able I'd probably throw lightening bolts at many of 'em. :lol:

Hi, all. Back at work. Been covered up today, and not the way I would like. I wanted covered with a soft, weighted blanket, a cold drink, and a/c kickin' and a good book, with my puppers to help me ease into sleep.

What I got- Seven felons, a'felonin', six warrants needed, five violation reports due.....four parole plan verifications, three office visits, two court hearings- and if that's a partridge in the pear tree, it's because someone stole it and stashed it there. :pound:

Shew. Full day already and it's not even 11 o'clock.  Completely rearranged my office, decluttered, ect. Conducted a couple of office visits by phone. Oh, and got a call from the guy with the Corvette. The trade is a go. So it appears I now have not one, but two incredibly sexy, diamond in the rough  examples of America's sportscar. However, to accomplish this, I have traded off my Doghouse, meaning I shall have to be nice to Lou. Very nice, since I have no where to run....

The camper was your doghouse TOO?! And you're trading it away...

In local news, I just got my new phone, a Moto G Power. I am LOVING screen-shrink, AKA one-handed mode. With a gesture the whole screen shrinks down to something half the size in one corner of the phone. Now I have my big phone AND my tiny phone, all in one phone.

Thankfully our wifi at work is open accessible and we have unlimited data on our phones. My husband is an internet junkie, so we had to get that a while back or else Verizon would own us completely hahaha.

Its been a long day. My department manager is on vacation this weekend and a newbie got thrown into my department to help me my last 4 hours. We had a huge delivery of freight so I wore myself out trying to get tvs and computers and other things into the bins in the backroom.  Came home so stiff and achy I can barely walk.

If there were a decent phone company with unlimited plan, I'd be interested- but the prices are high here for unlimited, if you can even get it.

Well, Lou is happy. We found her Lincoln replacement last night. We thought alot about not replacing it, but the current interest rates are really good, and we, myself included, wanted at least one newer low mileage vehicle. We tried like the dickens to find another Lincoln with no success. Night before last, we saw there was a '17 Cadillac XT5 SUV on a lot in Little Rock. We looked at it online, Lou liked it, it was barely within our budget..so I called the Conway lot (same company) and they offered to have it at the Conway dealership at 530 pm. We rushed, got there- and it wasn't. I was not pleased. They went and got it while we ate dinner. We got in it to test drive- fuel light on. They said "Oh, if it runs out call us,ha ha. That's never happened". Drove it to the next exit, liked it- and ran outta gas. Had to wait for 30 minutes for them to come fetch us. But, they got the price right, got the payment ok, and got me a 3.5% interest rate. It was the first car we've drove in the past month that Lou said "I like it". So, I went and signed papers today. She is happy. Coincidentally, it is the exact same color scheme our MKX was. Burgundy with Cream leather.
I'm sure someone will think we are putting on airs. But Lou is happy, which means I don't have to go to the doghouse. Fitting since I traded my dog house off.
And the "new" corvette has verified it is mine. It sliced my finger wide open a few ago. Every car I get attacks me at some point. I call it love bites. :lol:

Grandma used to have a Cadillac and her favorite aspect was the raw power the engine had. There is a certain intersection where the road is four lane on one side of the red light and only two lane on the other side... for reasons nobody has ever been able to figure out.  She would be sitting there waiting for the green light and some teenagers would pull up in the other lane and rev the engine, ready to blast in front of her. She'd just sit there, a little old grandma in her Caddy, and when the light changed she'd floor it and leave them in her exhaust. She got such a kick out of it.
