You are being set up to go on a dinner "date" after a church service with mutual friends, should you assume interest on the other single persons part?  Even if the guy has not asked the lady himself? Should she be miffed he hasnt contacted her?

This thread has given me a couple of ideas...

The least potentially disastrous of which is to point out there should have been the option of going Stargazing _first_...THEN out to dinner (or breakfast)  :hypocrite:

I got REALLY sick of the "middle school" games going on in the past decade or so.

"He thinks you're cute."
"He thought about asking you out, but... *insert excuse here*..."
"He thinks you're too good for him."
"He likes you"

CHICKEN!!! Ask her out, alright-already!!!

Here's my simplistic (and blunt) view...
If he's not man enough to call/text/ask her out/send smoke signals *grin* and DO something, then he's not man enough for her to date anyhow. What woman wants a man who is too intimidated/scared/not-confident enough to ask her out? If he can't even do a small thing like that, than why should she believe he's man enough to make decisions for a family? Why should she believe he has confidence to slay dragons, if he can't even face HER long enough to ask a simple question? It's not an earth-shattering question like "will you marry me?"... it's a simple coffee/lunch/dinner/whatever. It's a way to get to know her. And it's extremely childish to use 3rd parties and roundabout questions.

There you have it, Yoop. The blunt two cents from the Ice Maiden. ;)

Well Ruby... Tell us how you really feel about it...!   :laughhard:

I like the way you think as well... a sort of kindred spirits (to quote AGG)...

I agree wholeheartedly... and you were able to put into words the things that I was only able to ARGH about... lol...

BRAVO!   :biglaugh:

Oh phooey. I can't change my vote. Oh well. It still includes stargazing. :hypocrite:

Yeah.  Tell her to go stargazing first.  If the guy can't find Orion, tell her to say no about dinner.

But wait...  wouldn't stargazing together entail him asking her to go stargazing first?  Would stargazing be a date?

Since Roger and Silvia are gonna be there too...I reckon Jill should go and see how it goes...less confronting/intimidating....for both...if it's in a group setting....nothing ventured, nothing gained, and if it ends up being a bust, at least they'll both know...or rather, all four will know. :-?

Seems to me like it could have been a lot simpler if Roger had just casually said, "will you be at the service?" instead of all the extra stuff about "let's all go out afterward, cuz this guy might have a crush on you."

They should all go to the Oklahoma Stargazers 2010 meetup!

I'll be honest I had a guy that told me he wanted to star gaze one time.. I suppose they make that look romantic in movies or books or whatever, but when he actaully said that I was like...uhh yeah ok I guess..granted I wasn't extremely into the guy, perhaps had I really liked him looking at stars would have sounded better I dont know. Just my two cents :)

RainbowJingles

I enjoy stargazing by myself sometimes, even.  Not quite as fun, but trying to identify the constellations on a dark clear night is something that appeals to me.  It's a lot of fun when there's a group using hushed voices trying to identify constellations.

Sis

Yeah but remember what they were REALLY doing when they claimed they were stargazing. They were gazing at the stars in each other's eyes.

RainbowJingles

When you stargaze properly, it's too dark to see the stars in someone's eyes.  lol

Sis

They shine like stars, silly!

But there aint nothing sly or shy about Ruby flirting with her guy... she just melts at the very mention of his name... lol

lol  Flirting shyly is an art.  I haven't mastered it by any means.  I'm not even sure I know how to plain ol' flirt.  I just enjoy life.  If a guy wants to enjoy life with me, so be it.

Hey, Yoop!  I'm still thinking about voting for the volcano.  Any word on Jill?
