At approximately 10:00 pm CT tonight I will begin an upgrade of the forum. It shouldn't take more than an hour. This is a major upgrade (from the 1.1.x branch to the 2.x branch), and it will result in a new default theme and some new features.
As a result of the upgrade, we will lose the (17) themes currently installed. 1.1.x themes are not compatible with 2.x. If I have time, I may try to find a few additional themes to install, but I make no promises. We can slowly add new themes again over time. A lot of work has gone into make the default 2.x theme look nice and be user-friendly, so it shouldn't be too horrible to use. I happen to like it a lot. :teeth:
I'll post updates in this topic as I go. If you notice anything weird after the upgrade, please post a description of the issue here.
B
Thanks for the "heads up".
:thumbsup2:
*waves at B* Thanks for all your work!
:beret:
COOL! Upgrades are always good unless it's from Microsoft.
lol Actually,
updates from Microsoft are vital, because they release stuff before it's ready. :teeth: But yeah, upgrading is always iffy until they get some updates out (Service Packs FTL).

:lurk:
Got started a little late. Sorry about that. Should be good, now. :teeth: Again, post here if you notice anything weird.

The new look of the board is going to take some getting used to. Came on tonight and had to do a double take to make sure I landed on the right site.
:teeth: In my defense I did warn you guys it would look different. lol

B
saying you expect all of us to actually read the news topics? :o
Maybe at least skim? lol
Installed a bunch of themes. Feel free to play around with them and choose a favorite (or don't, I don't really care). :teeth:
B
Orange? YUCK! Oh well...........
As I said, there are now multiple themes to choose from.
B
*waves at B and grins*
*goes to check out the new themes*
:beret:
I'm likin' it so far. :)
Cool, B! I have acorns on my page now!

I would like to report some weird things that I have noticed....
Would you like me to list them by screen name, real name, in order of appearance, or what?
*cough*
Ill start!
Chseeads....
*cough*
Looks good. And I had to do a double take too! LOL

lol Nice. Okay, let me rephrase it as "weird forum-related things."
B
They are all forum-related. They post here.... :smirk2:
 forum-software-related...
B
Where you do look to find the new themes? I looked but didn't have time to thouroughly look.
Profile > Modify Profile > Look and Layout
It's the very first option on top. :teeths:
B
i never knew you could use a theme on godplace. but i know now!
i'm computer illiterate. haha.
Thanks, B. Finally found it.
Yep, no problem. :teeths:
B
Got tired of themes last time because there were things you couldn't do in some themes like you could in the default, so I just stick with default.
I don't like some things about this new default, so I'm going to try a theme and see how that goes.
I went to the bright forest one.... In some ways it seems a bit more like the old layout on how things show up.
Yes, that's the one that I'm trying, too.
I am trying the Bright Forest for a bit
Question... Will Bright Forest logo be replaced with Godplace at the top or always say Bright Forest?
I tried removing it, but it looked weird to me. I can mess with it again if you guys want.
B
I agree about Monday. ;)

I like the look of Bright Forest the best also. However, there is a huge gap between the top and beginning of each post. Even a line as if the post is the person's signature. Is this something I've affected or how the theme is?
I like the bright forest theme too

I'm not sure what you mean. Everything looks fine to me. :eyebrow:
B
Looks like the chat room disappeared
Yes, the link to the chat room is no longer there. If enough people actually use it, I can put it back.
B
I can just as easily use the other link myself. Apparently some upgrades was being done on the chat itself cause when I used the other link yesterday it brought up a test page instead of the chat.

musta been my computer. I logged out and then back in and it's fine. Sorry! ☺
No problem. :teeth: Glad things figured themselves out. Those are the best issues to have. lol
B
Looks good.
I REALLLY like the little check boxes under the "unread" list... it comes in rather handy...
:high5: B!
:) Glad to be of service.
B
Is it just my account, or does this happen to everyone?
In the PM section, the first message on each page, is scrunched to the right with a huge green block to the left. The rest are the correct width.
And each message has a 3-4" space between the top line and the actual message.
Also, this has been happening for a long time, but when I type a message, it's ok until it scrolls below the line, then it jumps up and down and I have a hard time typing and reading the message. I don't know if I can explain it any better but it's weird.
Can you get a screenshot of your first issue?
I can't really comment on the second without experiencing it myself, and I can't duplicate it.
Knowing what theme you're using might help. Figured it out and tried Bright Forest myself. Still can't duplicate either issue.
B
I'll try. Stevebert disabled screen shot on this computer, I'll try it on the other one when he gets off.
That's what mine was doing until I logged out & back in.

The
Print Screen button copies an image of the current screen to the clipboard. You can then paste it into an image editor.
B
I know. I used to use it all the time.
I've logged out and back several times. Oh well, I guess I'll have to live with it. But that jumping when I'm typing a reply drives me nuts. I don't reply as much anymore, anyway, so .... shrug.
It happens on my account no matter which computer I use. Maybe I'll send you my password, and you can check in and see for yourself. Then I'll change the password when you're done.
It jumps when I type a PM and I can't see the line that I'm typing, just the lines above it.
It does it whenever I type a response. It won't start until it starts scrolling down, though. Short responses work fine.
I use Helios Multi and it works really good, no problems at all.
How can I make it fit in my screen?
It has scroll bars at right/bottom to scroll over to the right side of the forum....
Like I can't see the full page w/out having to scroll over?!
What theme are you using, and what is your screen resolution?
B
OverViewLight and I don't know...
It's not on any of my other web pages, just on GP.
OverViewLight works fine for me. I'm guessing it's that your resolution is too low. You can check it by right-clicking your desktop and selecting Properties.
B
I don't have a resolution option when I click Properties...
CVS *rolls eyes*
Do you have a Settings tab? 'Cause it's on that one. :)
MGB
Nope lol

I used to have that problem on Facebook. I don't know what changed but it doesn't do it anymore.
I just noticed something weird - not a big deal, just weird....
The sad face that posts isn't the one that is shown in the emoticon menu. And it doesn't seem to matter if I type out the shortcut, or click on it.
Mysteries, mysteries... ;)

Could be an issue with the conversion. I'll look at it in a bit.
B
There was a duplicate smiley for some reason. I've done some basic cleanup of the smileys (mostly just removing duplicates).
B
It was just a Glitch in the theme, Ruby.
*snicker*
BTW: This "Bouncing" problem I've been having has been happening for almost a year. It has nothing to do with the changing of the board. And it only happens on GP.

Sis, I've had that happen occasionally on other sites, and I've never been able to figure out what the root of the problem is. Usually if I refresh once or twice it goes away. But that's not overly helpful when I'm in a hurry. :-?
