Are you enjoying GP so far?
Are you coming to OK in June?
Do you like reading biographies?
Have you ever eaten snails?
:beret:

Yes, I think GP can be fun.
I'm going to try to go to OK in June if we can work it out. (you need a chaperone, you know ;))
I don't usually read biographies.
Not interested in eating snails.

Yes, I think I have good children. (I guess that what you meant)
I don't have a favorite child, they all are individuals with their own strengths and weaknesses.
To be my son in law, you have to first convince my daughter that you are worthy, then you have to convince her dad and me... think you're up to that? ;)

:beret:
Probably not until they're six feet under.
But at least my son seems to be finally growing up and not acting quite as goofy.
I was afraid you'd say that. :sadbounce:
*checks airfare to Hawaii*
What's your favorite flavor of icecream?
:beret:
I like the HEB store brand of butter pecan the best. After that I think I like vanilla. Even better if it's topped with hot fudge and hot caramel and has toasted pecans! Braum's have wonderful sundies.
So you're worried about your brother...
Too bad Hawaii is so far.
Yup. And if anyone finds me airfare for around $300, I'm hopping a plane. No joke. Matter of fact, I'm considering hopping a plane for considerably more than that. Blah.
Oh well. Worrying won't help anything. *prays harder*
Soooo... the food stuff for the OK meet up.... I don't s'pose there's anything I can do from here to help you *smile*... but if you need help getting anything ready when I get to TX, I'd love for you to put me to work doing something. Please don't act like I'm company. I'd much rather be one of your kids for a week. ;)

It has been quite an interesting journey! And she can still surprise me... :o ;)
But I've met lots of wonderful people because of her
and a few not so wonderful, but they aren't from GP since she is such a social person.
She will be a wonderful nurse and always finds something good to say about people. (we're not alike much on this, I don't give compliments lightly, so if I give you one, know that you are special)
There are many things that I could say about her, but let me just finish by stating that she is a very special young lady. :bigcheese:
Can you tell the story of anytime you have seen a miracle!
Is there a specific incident that you are wanting me to tell about?
the oldest one you remember for me... not sure about her.
Right at this moment, all that I can think about for you is when you fell off the roof... I'm sure there are others.
We were putting a new roof on the house. Chel was helping. We had friends from the hispanic church in a nearby town and a friend of Dina's (this was before she was married) here to help also. They got up really early to try to beat the heat. The problem with that is, the roof had dew all over it and it's a metal roof. Chel was carrying something to hand down to Dina's friend and she slipped. The guy saw her coming down and quickly moved a bunch of boards out of the way so that she wouldn't hit them. I was in the house. Boudreaux came in to call 911 cause she had gone down head first. Of course I ran out ASAP. She had dirt on her face and in her mouth, so I know she hit her head. We took a trip to the hospital and she went in on a backboard in the ambulance since we were afraid that she hurt her neck or back. God is good. She broke both her wrists (one pretty badly) but she didn't hurt her back or neck. I'm thankful that the guy moved the 2x4s so quickly... among other things. On a side note, the insurance didn't want to pay for an ambulance ride since "it was just broken wrists" but after I told them the whole story, they finally paid.

Do you prefer small towns or large cities? Small towns, hands down
What color would you want your kitchen painted? a light color, like off white, with blue accents
Do you like barbeque or baked chicken better? I like them both, but sometimes I get tired of BBQ since we have it so much
Do you like chicken or beef better? Beef
Do you like oranges or apples better? apples
Do you ever compare apples to oranges? not that I know of
What is your favorite color? that depends on what it's for, but I like blue and yellow and hot pink
Who is your hero? Not sure that I HAVE a hero
What is your middle name? not something I share online
What did people call you when you were a child? My grandmother sometimes called me Sanny but didn't really have a nicname
Do you have a favorite song? Not really, it changes depending on the circumstances, but I really like almost all of the ones Selah sings
Favorite verse of scripture? That is another thing that changes depending on what is going on in my life but Romans 8:28 is always good
Favorite book of the Bible? I like Ruth and Esther
Favorite children's song? Ohh, I like LOTS of children's songs, especially the ones off the Jungle Jam radio show! There is a funny one that goes
"I like potatoes and I like ham, I like toast with strawberry jam ....then something about a pickled beet... I just love to eat ;)

What advice would you give young couples for having a enduring marriage?
*Put God first, immediate family second and "church" third
*Don't spend more than your budget allows... some things have to wait
*Don't expect to have the "things" that your parents have after years of marriage right at first, you may need to wait on a new 4 wheeler or other stuff.
*Don't expect to always get your way, but don't be a doormat either
*Talk things over and try to understand each other's dreams and plans
*Always tell your spouse you love them and give lots of hugs
I'm sure that I will think of more...
*HUGS* Mama!
*lurks and listens*

One section is Psalm 46:1-2 but that thought continues, I'm just not gonna post all of it.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
thats a good one
Did you know that I've just memorized my first scripture in SPANISH!!??
Hubiera yo desmayado si no creyese que vere la bondad de JEHOVA en la tierra de los vivientes. Salmos 27:13
I can quote Hechos 2:38 in spanish. But I doubt I could type it out. But I have it on a plaque hanging in my living room. I bought it in El Salvador.
I can't quote it in Spanish. I could translate the English into what I thought would be the Spanish, but Bible speak is rarely the same as my speak.

as an adult? hmmm, what do you consider an adult? I'm not sure, maybe the church ladies that made me feel welcome when I started going back to church my Senior year in high school.

Sandra, do you think respect should be unconditional, in the same way that love should be?
:beret:
Isn't respect, be definition, something you earn? There is a respect for human life in general: I don't go up and kick a bum that's sitting in the street, but does he automatically have my respect? No.
Quote from: SippinTea on March 26, 2009, 11:05:43 PM
Sandra, do you think respect should be unconditional, in the same way that love should be?
:beret:
I've always thought respect had to be earned...
Since I read your question, I have been thinking. I think that, like love, there are different kinds of respect. While I may respect my dad as a good provider, I may not respect him in other ways for decisions that he made.
So, maybe my answer is yes and no. Some respect must be earned, but some is just given because it should be. :smirk:
Weren't women told to respect their husbands? Just as the men were told to love their wives? And if that's the case, isn't respect a choice?

Why do we insist on asking "why"? Especially when we know the answer; or we know that we are not going to like the answer?
Because we are human and want to understand or at least we THINK we want to understand. Sometimes our minds aren't capable of understanding the big picture.
Sometimes we don't get to see the big picture because it would scare us silly, so God in His mercy just shows us the next little bit so that we can process a little at a time.
Or He shows us just a little bit at a time so we won't get scared enough to run away.
All are good thoughts!! Hmmm...*runs off to ponder what she doesn't understand* 👀 😉
How did you get so wise?
I don't feel very wise... but here's a verse for you.
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Oh I lack. Believe me, I lack.
I accidentally got on page 1, ended up reading the whole thread.... And now I have a question. What in the world did I do that Mel,knew about in the middle of the night? Lol
Did you realize you have been on GP for over 6 yrs now?
I have no clue. Maybe Mel remembers.

Thank you!!! Sometimes being wise is realizing some things exist, happen; and are created for reasons only God knows! If he doesn't give us understanding...then we probably don't need to understand; or were never meant to! Unfortunately, I am very human and I waste a lot of time trying to understand...when I should be moving on! Living for today!
I don't remember EXACTLY...but it sounds like when we were discussing you coming to see me and you booked your plans or something maybe...I'm not sure. It's you, Chel...could have been anything. Lol
Lol. Well rats. It sounded like it was something good. Lol
Anyone else find it sad that we live in a world that people are more likely to say, write; or post something completely random; rather than carry on a conversation?
That people in large have forgotten how to converse? Or that conversations usually find everyone with some type of technology in hand; and highly distracted by said technology!!!?
...or that we do this with out thinking! It has become an unconscious habit/ state of mind!
I don't like talking on the phone. I'd rather be able to look you in the eyes & read your expressions/body language. I don't mind texting, but it's not something that I do constantly, either.
I will say that I am thankful for skype since my oldest daughter & her family live out of country.
But you are correct, sometimes we are in the same room but not really "there"
I don't mind any form of communication...I just think we are losing the ability to communicate! Everyone is so involved in life; and when they aren't involved in life; their busy playing in alternate realities! It's sad when you meet up to have dinner, laughter, and a good time; and those you haven't seen in a while are too distracted by what's on their phones to converse! Too busy playing games, being entertained! 😩
That's why I really like my family... well, one of the reasons. When we all get together for a family dinner we're all there and we're all "there." It can get a bit noisy sometimes but we all talk to each other. And my family is mostly full of nuts so we have some pretty good (fun) conversations.

My family is sort of the same...loud, funny, ready to tell/share our thoughts, opinions, stories, jokes...we usually end up being very loud; because we all want to be a part of the moment, and we all want to be heard!! 😏 Good times....
I like how I can ask my mom any question whether it's silly or random and I know she will give me an honest answer.

I know people that do that. I can't think of a really good example at the moment.
One gal I work with, we've joked that she's had 3 hysterectomies and her mother has died at least twice.
One time she took off saying her husband got trampled by a cow. It could be true, but so much wasn't that we are always doubtful of what she says.
