If by "recorded" you mean the first show to be filmed then broadcast later (after filming), that would be:

(1948)
The Adventures of Superman was filmed out of order, then edited to put the scenes into sequential order before broadcast, similar to the way movies are made.

The first to be recorded in front of a live studio audience and then rebroadcast was:

(1951)
I Love Lucy was filmed all in sequential order because it was in front of a live audience, recorded on video tape, and broadcast after it was recorded.

However, "recorded" is slightly misleading because earlier shows were broadcast live for the east coast time zone, but recorded via Kinescope for airing in different time zones.  Kinescope was a much lower quality than both the live broadcast and the video taped broadcasts.    Kinescope was done by putting a film camera in front of a studio monitor and recording the broadcast from the monitor (similar to putting a camcorder in front of your TV to record a show).  The development of video tape in the 1950s brought an end to Kinescope recording.

Next item to find:  A man dressed as an American Indian using a public pay phone.

Edited to correct a problem with one of the pictures not working properly.
Move along, nothing to see here.

Sister_Mom

Get all technical why don't ya. :nerd:
