Spiders = Hack attacks. Most log in attempts and registration attempts to GP in the last year are hack attacks or spambots
Spiders are a lot better in the real world. They eat bugs, not cause them. :p
I had to work today. Woke up to the unwelcome sight of snow. Drove in without any problems. Other folks were not as lucky. We have an 8 car pileup on one of the overpasses. I didn't see anything on the roadway- a couple of small slick spots, but drove 70 all the way in, like most everyone running with me.
Most of the crew is off today for MLK, just me and one other. I drove 60 miles in and was 30 minutes early as usual. Coworker- and I use the "worker" part of that term very loosely- lives 5 miles away. He's already nearly 20 minutes late. Slug.
Already had my scare for the day. Was moving laptops over to photo lab and went back to get the last one I'd left on the floor just as a guy come walking through that isle and the laptop was gone. After I had a panic attack we found the missing laptop sitting up on top the desktops.
It was super chilly this morning here. Ugh so over winter.

I'm back after a busy day of errands. Praying that the weather moving in produces some SNOW!!
I'm having a bad case of its not ok to splurge on a nice phone for myself even though the current phone is outdated, freezing up, and out of storage space for even the basic apps.
Well, I don't know what I'm having for dinner, but I know this. The diet is dead for the day. I have been good, and I've pretty much plateaued... Dropped down to 219, last night the scale read 217- then today, I'm back to 220 again. Have ate nothing but a salad. So, I'm not quitting the diet, but I'm gonna eat whatever I want to tonight, maybe it'll shock my system back into burn mode. I have started my cheat night by eating a 190 calorie real chocolate bar. I regret it not one bit. :hypocrite:
And the winter storm that Sarba is fawning over is supposed to bring part of its stupid self by here tonight, leaving me ice and possibly some snow- probably just enough to give me heartburn the whole 60 miles to work. I am TOTALLY over winter. It can pack its bags and take its red rump north, it's not wanted here. ( It never got above freezing here today.)
a good cheat meal may be exactly what you need Roscoe. I have to do that at times to get weight loss kick started again. Im back on my diet as of Monday. Down 4 lbs this week.

As far as the cheat- I hope so. I've went from 270ish in August to this, but it seems like I'm stuck. The last time I tried a cheat day, I actually made it to 1800 calories. I probably need to have a 2500 calorie day or better to jump it.
And I don't want the cold mess, but it appears that I shall receive it, as I just talked on the radio to a ham in Harrison, Ar., about an hour or so north of me, and he said it's getting slick already.

Roads were clear. Now we are all worrying about tomorrow night....
I'm busy worrying about tonight. I'm supposed to preach tonight. Will we even have church? Will it be canceled because of weather? Will we have church but almost everyone stay home? Somehow it is awkward preaching to a 3/4 empty church. And I always get nervous when I'm supposed to preach anyway. Why does the weather have to complicate it?
I'm glad the pastor only asked me last Sunday night to preach tonight. Plenty of time to prepare, less time to worry.
Bobby this weather is your fault. The radar map makes it clear where it came from.
Whatcha going to preach about?
Roads are snow coverd here
I'm just sitting in the dark at work. Power is out. Been out about 20 minutes now.

Will this day ever end?:pound: Really having to pray that whole "Keep my spirit right" thing today..
My day started by our dispatcher calling in, while we have 3 people out of 7 already out. Then the guy that comes in at 9 calls- he's going to be late because of traffic. No, it's because he's an inconsiderate jerk. When he gets in 30 minutes late, instead of relieving the person working his post, he decides to fix his breakfast. I nearly lost it on him. Bit my tongue....and one of my friends convicts me by telling me I should pray for the jerk. Lord forgive me, the prayer I had involved large objects falling from a great distance upon his head...

I survived. Then I came home and cooked up chili, hotdogs, and coleslaw. It was tasty- put me a 100 calories or so over my 1100, but that's okay. They claim we shall get that snow mess, between midnight and 9 am- up to 4 inches of it. I shan't leave the house.
No snow expected this weekend in Indiana. The storm apparently decided to bypass my state.

Taking Sean in to get him tested for Asperger's ASAP. Just having an official diagnosis will help. Although this mama is absolutely sure without an official diagnosis. ;)

4 inches of snow would be a minor headache here anyways. Takes lot more than that to close everything down.
Suppose to get my new phone tomorrow. Will be spending my day off porting my number and transferring contacts, pictures, ect.
I have finally been able to log in. I'm sure unmissed but for some unknown reason I kinda missed most of you.
We got about 4-5 inches of snow on Wednesday and they are calling for anywhere from 4-18 inches in the next 2 days. I've only had 1 class thus far and it's looking shady for tomorrow since the ice/sleet mix is supposed to start around 1 am. My car hasn't moved but we've been out and about in the Subaru.
In other news we may have smuggled my cat into our apartment.
Hooray, Heather made it back. :)
Hooray for smuggling the cat in! :D
Woowowow!! This thread is so awesome!! Now we need John and Tricialea and a couple others to come back and our little family will be reunited again! Seth needs to post more!
I too thought of Thomas on a few pages back. :sadbounce:
The weather has been cool here. We are just getting rain from that storm...but it's not cold. I'm still not wearing a jacket most days. Under protest from my Mother. :eyeroll:
I'm glad Topher is inside with you, Heather!
I could have locked Knut up the last few days, for some reason he has been super hyper, getting into trouble like shredding TP, eating my colored pencils, jumping on the counters more frequently and repeadly, and this afternoon I came home to a fresh hair ball on the tile in front of the door. UGH.
As I type this though, he is laying on a towel on top of a tote all curled up and sleeping, angelic-like.
He ain't fooling me!
(But I love the big fluffy boy!)
Oh!! I convinced mom to let me decorate the bathroom! So I got to pull out the Duckie stuff! Yay.!
That is all.
Well. I got my wish. The snow last night went just to the east of us. Little Rock got 4 to 6". We got just a dusting, and the roads are fine. It's still cold, and the schools are closed, so I'll spend the day cleaning up the house I guess.
It's SNOWING here!!!
Just a light dusting, and it's not sticking to the roads yet, but everyone's scared to drive so I have the road to myself. Yay!
I'm off today but not staying home. Going to visit my Grandma in the nursing home to add more airtime to her cell phone and deliver a family picture from Christmas.
Btw, good to see everyone back....but okieoliveoyl was trying to get back in a couple of days ago and posted she was having problems doing so on the fb group
..since sarba's back, we shouldn't discriminate against okies....:ugly: Mods, can you get okie back in?
if some of my friends had their way I wouldn't be back on here
Heather! We did miss you! You're a normal poster! lol :sadbounce:
And you smuggled the cat in your school dorm room? lol
Miss Melbs too when she doesn't post much! And Sether's :pound:
We got buckets of rain yesterday morning, but then the storm kept on moving up to you heathens in Arkansas and the like. :hypocrite:
Here at work, nursing a headache. Didn't sleep very well. Windy howling and such.
Yes. Toph is in our school apartment. After a few discussions with others who also have cats we realized that the RA's and maintenance don't really care if you have a cat. Housing does, but they NEVER come up here. For anything. He's an old, declawed, neutered man. He's not going to hurt anything or bother anyone.
So far we have about 4 inches of snow. We could have a foot by tomorrow evening. My work has closed and Brandon is going to try to make it into Walmart but has already warned them he's leaving at lunch if it looks bad out. Considering all the local police say to stay home unless you are absolutely needed at your job, I think it's ridiculous. We are under a Gov declared State of Emergency afterall!
Just walked out of the nursing home to discover its snowing tiny snowflakes here. So much for a no snow forecast.
Tried to do a quick reply and it told me I wasn't allowed to and kicked me completely out.
We now have sleet. Brandon tried to go to work then turned around and came home. Snow we do. Ice is a big fat NOPE. So it's movie watching and book reading for us the next 2 days. Had planned on going to Knoxville tomorrow for out birthdays but that's now out of the picture.
I'm all switched over now to my new cell phone and cell phone provider
I was ready to pull an everybody-make-your-own-sandwich night but made myself pull something together that was one step up from that. Lol.
Found a good sale on gelato and sorbetto. Grabbed way too many, but I'm not feeling very guilty. :D Since Chris and I don't really get to go on dates right now, we often make tea and have ice cream together in the evening. If anyone wants to know, the Talenti coconut flavor is ah-mazing. For reals.
:beret:
I coulda swore I posted here this evening... ???
If I did, the system munched it apparently.I did nothing constructive today- other than clean the kitchen, and wash a load of clothes for Lou. Ate some of my chili this evening, because I didn't feel like cooking anything else. I have spent all day curled up in the recliner reading 3 of the 4 library books I picked up last night on the way home. All in all- a good day.
Saw this on the news and thought of Roscoe

Woke up to more snow. I'm not complaining but this is now day 4 of being stuck in this apartment with husband. I love him, don't get me wrong, but we both know we both need alone time. But it is his birthday so I'm trying to be a nice as possible. We made our birthday cake last night. I'm about to go have a piece of it for brunch.
It's sunny and chilly. No snow.
Slept in too long today.
Doing laundry, working on my ethics paper.
Symphony later with 15 of my friends. :waving:
We got out of the apartment for at least a little bit today. [Thanks AWD Subaru!] Took Brandon to lunch at Jason's Deli [one of the few places open] and we went to the men's basketball game. We won in overtime. I was surprised there was as much of a crowd as there was. But I know a lot of the students staying on campus are getting cabin fever bad and they run shuttles from campus to the arena.
Supposed to work tomorrow but the boss lady hasn't decided if we are going to open or not. I guess I'll find out in the morning. I hope we do. I'm bored and could use a paycheck.
Was cool here today. I slept in, then was persuaded to drive a bit west and torment Mini. I remember then that a slice of heaven in the form of ribs was between me and him, so I stopped and dispatched a bait of them. Absolutely enjoyable day.
Was an uneventful and mostly boring day here. Having to make sure I get to bed early tonight so I'll be coherent for church in the morning. Haven't been to a Sunday morning service in about 2 months. One of the brothers has already warned that if I don't show up for service in the morning he's going to look me up and come knocking on my door.
A chick is trying to hatch!
Took Bella and Teddy to a museum today. Seriously the most boring museum ever, but they had a good time so it's okay. Lol
My tendinitis is flaring up again. I'm so over it.
Oh, and my feet are cold. While we're sharing random useless info and all. :D
:beret:
We got the blizzard! Thankfully the Landlord actually plowed the parking lot this time, and a guy with a snow shovel from the apartments next door dug our car out. We tried to get a shovel before the storm with no luck.
The governor wants things shutdown till Tuesday. I doubt that happens. Roads are still iced here though so you never know.

*Le sigh*
Everyone else has all the fun. All we have here are clear roads. Even the bridges stubbornly refuse to ice over.
I WANT TO GO SLIDING!
When it ices here, We lose electricity because of all the trees. That's not so fun.
:stupid:
Same here. I have zero desire for that. :hi: I'm back at work. I've spent the morning working on a Bible study for Wednesday night, and I've walked, according to my phone app, approximately 3500 steps so far. Scale is still refusing to budge from the 219-222 range. :pound: I might just stay here. Maybe if summer gets here, when I'm usually more active, it'll slide off then. Irritating though, to be within 20 lbs of your ultimate goal and still be so far away. Kinda like the children of Israel in the wilderness..
Urge...
Work went better than expected. However riding with Brandon today [who insisted on driving me] made me pray back through this evening. Probably needed as I haven't been to church due to my work schedule. He tried to get my car out while I was gone and it's stuck. Nothing but a solid sheet of ice behind it and can't get enough traction to back uphill. She doesn't need to move til Wednesday.
Back/start school tomorrow. I haven't been to the 4 classes I have MWF due to the snow.
Pretty sure Jason broke his knuckle yesterday. Still waiting for a call from the doctor about the x ray.
Teddy running a fever.
Bella sick, too.
Sean being... Well, Sean. Lol
I need ice cream. And maybe cream puffs. :)
:beret:
Long, but good, day yesterday. Was so wore out I was laying down shortly after 7 and was sound asleep long before 8. Yes, I'm a old man.
:ugly:
Today my mouth wanted ice cream for breakfast. My stomach wanted peanut butter. So I melted some ice cream and mixed it with peanut butter. Goes great on a slice of bread.
What? You eat jelly with peanut butter. I eat ice cream with it.
Poor Lady Wooby. And poor Heather with a stuck car. The rest of you are just weirdoes.
I'm back at work. The oldies that popped in need to keep checking in!
I couldn't resist bringing the Corvette in today- the roads were clear and I had a terrific drive in, jamming to my "Christian Hair Band". Gonna snap a pic in a bit and send it to a Corvette friend who lives in Indiana, just out of meanness, since all he can do is look at his Corvette in the garage. :P
Hopefully the day will go by quick. If my barbershop is open, I need to stop and get all three of my hairs cut. They are looking shaggy.. :P
/me hugs urby
/me waves at cheese... Err... Roscoe.
@Scott .. The all unread topics button isn't working for me. It errors out.
No snow here. 35 years old and I still have never experienced snow...
It was a beautiful 49 degrees and sunny yesterday. Same as Saturday. It was so nice on Saturday, mom was griping about being depressed and not getting out, so I fried some frenchfries, and made her a grilled Swiss cheese sandwich on rye bread, and wheeled her outside on the patio for a couple hours. I sat out there and finished a picture I was coloring on. And the neighbors came over and leaned on the railing and talked to us.
She was in a much better mood after that.
Gotta babysit this afternoon. Made a ham and sweet tater casserole yesterday. Gonna have leftovers of that tonight. Tomorrow I may make some green baby Lima beans. I have the ham bone left and I think that would be excellent for this "cold" weather. Some corn bread, onion and buttermilk on the side...yum! Or maybe split pea soup. Either way, I may need to stop by the store on my way home this evening.
Tootles!
It was a lovely muggy(ish) 50 degrees this morning. Supposed to stay above 50's all week - highs in the high 60's. SO excited. I'm ready for summer!
Sitting here at work eating my peaches and cream oatmeal.
Quote from: MsJennJenn on January 25, 2016, 03:32:17 PMI'm ready for summer!
For once, something we can agree on. :stupid:
I wish the weather would decide what it wants to do. Lets get some warm weather or some REAL snow.
Having a "day" today. Ever just wanna clock out at lunch time and retreat to a cave so you don't have to deal with humans? Im there. I sound like Seth. Goodness I need to pray through LOL!!!
It's 70* here today. Beautiful!
Lol
@sarba that's funny! And yes, I often want to go to a cave for the rest of the day. Unfortunately that is sometimes at 8 am... Lol.
And Mel- I have a ham bone as well! Maybe that's what I should do,with it. I'd have to get someone to help me eat it though... Not sure Robbie likes them.
Quote from: sunlight on January 25, 2016, 07:42:06 PMLol @sarba that's funny! And yes, I often want to go to a cave for the rest of the day. Unfortunately that is sometimes at 8 am... Lol.
haha sometimes at 8am for me too. i wake up and want to crawl away into a cave (aka my bed) for the day.
Well. Aren't we all just a cheerful bunch of weirdos today. I'm totally in the wanting to check out at 8 a.m. crowd. :)
Bella much worse. Teddy doing better. Jason has a displaced fracture. I'm oh so ready to give Sean a final eviction notice. :P And I can't wait until my sweetie gets home at 6. I can survive until then, right?!
Listening to Lynda Randle sing hymns and trying to find my footing again.
:beret:
Hmmm... a hambone belongs in a pot of white beans. With a pone of cornbread and a mess of greens on the side. That's the single best thing I've ever found to do with a hambone.
Was an uneventful day here
I decided against the beans cause I'd have to eat them all myself. Mom doesn't care for beans...now if Dad was here...yeah, no problem getting rid of them.
Going to still use the ham bone and make split pea and ham soup. I have leftover ham too. :fork: I'll still make cornbread and it will be wonderful.
That is all.
Yep, a pot of beans is the best use for a ham bone...and you folks wanting to hide in a cave have it wrong. I wanna lock a few people that annoy me deep in a cave, then I can enjoy the outside world as it should be. Alone. Without people. Is that so wrong?
Hmm... nah. Not as long as all of us grumpy people can be grumpy in said outside world, without having to come in contact with said annoying people in cave. :D
:beret:
You bunch of grumps...
:ugly:
My alarm keeps on going off earlier and earlier.
:hi:
Work. Bah. Convenience store Southern Pecan coffee- Yuck. Chinese- they win. I whipped. *cry*
I had a pretty good day yesterday. The one class I was nervous about I have a handful of people I actually know so it shouldn't be as bad. Somehow I've pulled something in my back. I suspect it was the 2-3 times I lost my footing on the ice left and did the 'don't fall flailing arm' dance. The muscle that runs parallel to my spine on the left side is sticking out further than my spine. Gonna lay on my heating pad for a little while before heading into work study. Just have that and 1 class today.
Feeling old today after reading how long we have all been on GP and realizing just how long I've known folks in this little corner of cyberspace. My boys were TINY when I signed up. My oldest is getting married this summer and Chase will graduate high school next year. :-\

I know! Its a bit earlier than I would like but it is what it is...lol
I just read on FB today that on Thursday it will be THIRTY years since the Challenger blew up. WHOA.
I was 5. We were standing in the driveway in south Florida and watched it blow in the actual SKY. Not on TV. I remember it so plainly, but yet it was thirty years ago? How is that possible?
We are old. Lol

@Soubriquet Jerry FYI
Hmph. Made it through a perfectly annoying day. The bad Southern Pecan coffee was just the beginning.
Yet, I persevered and managed to get through it. Then, I went by the barber shop and got all three hairs cut...came home, mounted the gas heater in the shop and ran the propane line, only to discover that I did not have the connectors I need. I'll have to stop and get them Friday. I've got to get heat in the shop so I can get Rusty fixed. It's been nearly a month since I could drive him and that's for the birds.:pound:
Other than that, and cooking dinner for Lou, I've done nothing constructive.
Hmmm... I might possibly have spent about $125 at a mennonite bakery/health food store. But I got lots of stuff I need! Got a few blocks of colby for making grilled cheese at church tomorrow night. (That wasn't the expensive part.) Also stocked up on sesame sticks, mostly because I like sesame sticks. (Still not the expensive part.) And I got a couple pounds of smoked turkey. (Not terribly expensive.)
And I got (THIS is the expensive part) five bags of raw brazil nuts. Unroasted, no salt. Just plain, un-fooled-with brazil nuts. Love em!
In related news, tomorrow night my church is having a meet-and-eat. On the last Wednesday night of the month we forgo our regular church service and instead have supper, after which the pastor does a bible study.
This month they said the menu is "soup and grilled cheese." So I took the "grilled cheese" idea and ran with it. Sliced three loaves of my sourdough bread into really thin slices. Got a few blocks of colby cheese and a roll of real butter from the mennonite store. Tomorrow I'm going to fire up a couple of griddles and make cheese sandwiches until we run out of bread, cheese or butter.

sounds good :fork:
:stupid: it does sound good.
I use mayonnaise instead of butter or margarine on my grilled cheese. Spread it on the outside pieces of bread very very thinly, it browns up really nice and crispy, and you can't taste the difference. It spreads easier as well.
We have a meet and eat once a month on for our midweek service. We call it "loaves and fishes". Pastor started it last year and it's gone great. It's free, (we have a donation/tip jar set out) and we have a brown bag dinner. It's usually some sort of sandwich, a bag of chips, and a cookie. Go thru the line, grab a bag and a canned drink and spend 45 minutes eating and fellowshipping. Then pastor gets up and talks for about 10 minutes, a devotion type mini sermon, and then we leave. Or stay and mingle.
It's great for getting to know the new people and guests. Pastor encourages us to sit with people we don't know well or don't normally sit with or talk to much. I've got to know many newish people this was. I love it!
2nd Thursday of every month if anyone wants to stop by for a sandwich and fellowship.
PLUS, as an added thing...people are more likely to come to church if you are not having actual church. They come to the loaves and fishes and see that we are just regular normal (yeah right!) people that are not scary. Then when they meet a few people in a relaxed environment, it's easier to get them to come back another time for service! And it works!
Our cleaning lady came to our last one, and then came to church the following Sunday! She says she loves it and is going to come back again.
Whatever works!
Wheeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!
Did anyone miss me? No? Sigh...
From the avatar it looks like Lady Jenn is as lovely as ever.
I've seen Our own Storm Trooper and Jeremy a few months ago.... need to do that again. I hear Meghan Trainor can sing....
John :waving:
We're not spreading butter on the bread, we melt it on the griddle. Bread and cheese sandwich, put it on the buttered griddle to fry.
Mayo just tastes wrong when you heat it up for some reason. Well, to me it does. Maybe it's the vegetable oil breaking down or something, I dunno, but heated mayo is weird.

3 classes. Brandon took me to Chikfila for lunch. 1 class. Free birthday frappe from Starbucks. 5 hours of Keva Juice. Take out Japanese. Now procrastinating reading some homework.
No illness, deaths, blown up cars, etc.
I'd call it a successful birthday for me.
Tomorrow: Work study. 1 class. Then out for dinner with my mom for our birthdays.
Well tonight was interesting.
Tuesday's text message reminder said "soup and sandwiches" but I could have sworn I heard "soup and grilled cheese" from the pulpit last Sunday. Whatever, grilled cheese is still sandwiches. So I got to church at 6pm and fired up to melt a lot of cheese on the griddle.
Apparently I'm not the only one who heard "grilled cheese." When everything everyone brought was spread out there were four mountains of cheese sandwiches. It did my heart good to see them though, because I was thinking "Oh boy, leftovers!" But I didn't take home nearly as much as I expected to take home when I saw those mountains. Out of three loaves of bread and four blocks of cheese I took home about 1/3 of a loaf worth of cheese sandwiches.
Pastor's wife said she saw her son eating three of them...
Howdy.
So I go to WM today and I'm going down the picture frame isle on my way to look at something else and I glance over at some frames and I am taken down memory lane...there were two frames, side by side with pictures of a beautiful GREEN DOOR.
*sniff*
I thought of Ruby and Chel and the Domerz and looking for doors and golf carts and pictures of doors and threads and GP and all kinds of wonderfulness!
It was unprecedentedly EPIC!
Of course I took a picture of it.

Urgh. Please, dear lord, let the coffee kick in. Thank God it is my Friday, even though I do have to work Saturday..
:hi: Nothing interesting to share here.
Laundry is on the agenda today. It always is but today there seems to be much more of it. I have no idea where it all comes from!! Its time for a garage sale or a large bonfire.
I miss the green doors. And the blue and orange thread.
Here at work. Super tired.
Night 3 tonight of choir clinic, workshop, craziness with Bro Mark Yandris.
Three more nights to go. :sing:
Been a good day so far. Had breakfast at McDonald's. Was supposed to meet someone there but they didn't make it.
Ordered me 2 new skirts from Christopher and Banks. Current skirts are getting too tight. Wonder if Roscoe's diet would work to get rid of extra stomach rolls.

I'd rather not be reminded of the Christmas mayhem until closer to the end of the year
Roscoe has ditched the diet. After the last 2 months or better at the same weight, I decided to keep an eye on my weight, but to eat normally. Still no Dr Peppers, still eating a light breakfast and salads for lunch, still keeping it easy on the dinner and snacks- but I'm not counting every calorie for a while. I'm going to keep it between 220 and 225, then this spring when I am more active with outside projects, I will double down on the 1100 calorie a day diet and knock those last 20 pounds out..
Tomorrow I may work on Rusty for a bit, if it's warm enough...
I had to go to Beebe for a viewing...one of my friends and fellow car nuts passed away Monday. I'm sure gonna miss the old man.
I had so much reading to do for classes tomorrow but I've somehow gotten down to just 4 pages left. Dinner tonight was sooo good. I ate way to much. Almost didn't think I'd make it to dinner. I started trying to get a migraine just after lunch. Thankfully my one teacher had mercy on me and dimmed the lights. I came home promptly after and took a nap in my darkened room.
Class and work tomorrow. Have a lot of homework to do this weekend and we are finally getting to take our Knoxville trip on Sunday. Planning to meet up with my sister while down there for a bit.

Same here. Supposed to be in the 70's all weekend. SO excited.
Beautiful here too- and I've wasted it. Just got up. Gotta run to town....
Rainy. Chaotic morning. But Jason now has his cast. He picked purple. And I sat down with a cup of coffee to try to let go of some of the stress from this horrendous week, but alas! Teddy has now awakened from his nap, and Bella is begging for attention. There is no rest for the wicked. Or the mommies.
Did I already mention my word for 2016 is "breathe"?? Yeah, I need to remember how to do that.
:beret:
Well, I did some grocery shopping then came home. That's pretty much the extent of constructive work I did today. 70 degrees and beautiful. I so regret agreeing to work for my friend tomorrow, since it's supposed to be a copy of today..
This week has seriously been a nightmare. BUT. This evening I'm feeling pretty peaceful about most of it. 'Cause I can trace God's hand through almost all of the nightmare moments. And that still leaves me with hope. So it's all okay.
:beret:
Sorry this week's been rough Ruby. Not been terrific here, one of my friends that worked at the Capitol and was my antique car buddy died of cancer Monday, within a month of being diagnosed. But all in all, life's been good to me.
Except the fact that I am here at work on a Saturday. I really should have my head examined for agreeing to do this...
:ignore:
Urgh.
:hi:
Alright, y'all don't slack off posting now. :pound:
Made it through yesterday and finally got my W2's in and taxes filed. Hopefully they'll be fast at returning my money.
We went over to old friends' house last night for dinner. They'd recently moved and as we sat at the dining room table, the wife remarked, " It's a real quiet neighborhood. We haven't saw a police car or anything since we've moved in." That was apparently the cue. Because she had no sooner said that than myself and my friend, a former officer, hear sirens. "That's police sirens. And they are moving from the sound of it, and close." Indeed they were- we see through the front window, six cars with blue lights flashing and sirens wailing, directly in front of the house of Mrs. We-Never-See-The-Police. The police had someone run from them, and the suspect bailed from the car in front of us. What are the chances of that happening right after her comment?
And now, I'm back at work. :hi:

I woke up about 5:30am doubled over in pain on my left side. I tried to wait it out and made it to almost 7:30 before I called mom. She came and took me to emergency care. Severe uti infection. Two shots and four prescriptions later.....now I have a sore hip from the shots and a wicked headache, but I don't have any pain stabbing me to death. Just an almost dull ache. :-(
Aww, that's too bad, Jenn. Hope you're better soon.
I'm gonna become a travel agent. lol
We lost a good friend last night. He was an older man but he and hubby did Bible study over the phone every day. He really cared and prayed for us and our family. We're going to really miss him. Some deaths leave a really big hole in the lives of loved ones.
Ugh! Sorry, Jenn. Sounds dreadful. :(
Sandra, I'm so sorry. It's incredibly hard to say good-bye see you later to some people.
Fellowship meeting tonight. I think it's totally cool that my babies have so many adopted grandmas and grandpas. Not just because it gives me break from holding them sometimes ;) but I love knowing that so many Godly people are influencing their lives. It makes my heart happy when I look over and see pastors from our section snuggling my little Teddy, and making my Bella giggle. :)
:beret:
Oh Sandra. :(
I have wicked insomnia. More than likely a combination of sleeping all day to diminish my body's ailments, the unsettledness still residing in my body, or just feeling off from missing church today.
So despite my many attempts at rest, I'm just diffusing lavender, and wondering around my apartment in the dark aimlessly; while eating thin mints and listening to my tunes. :smirk2:
Sorry for all of the hurting, physical and otherwise.
And in sharing, we reserved our hotel for our annual Spring Break Vacation. Gonna see what Gatlinburg is like...Enjoy 3 or 4 days there, maybe stop by a friend or twos churches on the way home, and then it'll be back to the grindstone with no vacations..
And in further sharing, I found a new motor for Rusty. Only 60 thousand miles on it, and it was a good deal, so hopefully he'll be back going soon. :thumbsup2:
Quote from: The Purple Fuzzy on February 01, 2016, 04:09:59 AMWe lost a good friend last night. He was an older man but he and hubby did Bible study over the phone every day. He really cared and prayed for us and our family. We're going to really miss him. Some deaths leave a really big hole in the lives of loved ones.
Im so sorry.
@chelleebelle 's grandma was in the hospital for a few days after a fall. She asked us what day it was, and we told her. Her next words rocked our world: "I haven't prayed for you in a few days!" Until that point, I don't know if had ever realized how much people prayed for us.
I would take a dozen more saints as precious as her.

No thank you. I just ate 12 homemade tamales for breakfast. Girl at work was selling them for her church fundraiser.

:hi:
I was away at my parents' for the weekend in Jonesboro AR for my friend's gender reveal party. My husband called me on Saturday night before he went to sleep and let me know that there was a high speed chase down Main Street (our house is one of the last on that street). We hear sirens all the time because we live a block or two down from the hospital, but I have NEVER seen a high speed chase. I'm figuring the crazy loon must've lived somewhere down there and thought he could lose the cops somehow with all the little streets that come off of that end. Craziness!
I get to be an honorary aunt of a Cheyanne Paisley! My best friends are starting to have children.. when did I get old enough for this?

No, we aren't making him a hot rod. We are replacing his engine with the exact same engine he has- a '94 2.2 four cylinder...
Husband and I were counting it up and we have at least a dozen people we know who are expecting. I told him to give a it a month or 2 and there will be more announcements due to snowpocolyse we just had.
I had to drop another class. Physical Anth was killing me. To the point I actually broke down in tears yesterday in middle of class. It's a lot of biology for the first 3rd of the class and it's been 15 years since I had been in any science class.
I've been having a lot of lower back pain recently and can't decipher if it's just back pain or kidney pain. I should really * Wash my mouth out with soap * it up and go to the student clinic but ain't nobody got time for that.
Also, Roscoe I'm roughly 1.5 hours from Gatlinburg. I would be more than happy to drive down for dinner [school and work schedule permitting] to meet another GPer but I also completely understand as it is your vacation.

Liver is a very good food for a lot of trace elements, minerals, vitamins, etc. And it's wonderful pan-fried.

I probably should post this in the "prayer" forum, as I surely need to repent..
First of all, the dad blamed truck fixed itself. It's started without issue for the past 10 times...thank you lord.
And the need to repent part...the state income tax hit today. ..so we went to Golden Corral. I made a full fledged hog of myself- a piece of steak, fried shrimp,a small piece of pork roast, sausage, mushrooms, and a tiny chocolate chess pie. And I chased it with a real Dr pepper, which was way to sweet and nasty, causing me to drink less than a quarter of it.. I'm miserable. .
Bobby: Just keep breathing, just keep breathing, and this too shall pass.
I know how you feel though. Monday was a rough day at work so I figured I owed it to myself to go to the mexican restaurant. They have an idea on the menu I had never heard of before, a potato fajita. Basically it's a fajita without the tortilla, put on top of a baked potato, with the obligatory rice and beans on the side.
It was nine bucks but I figured the cost was justified by the quality. And it would have been fully justified by the quality, it was good. But it was also justified by the quantity. That was three meals I got in one. Three and a half if you count the chips and salsa that came with it. No way can a normal person finish a meal like that in one sitting.
Unfortunately it was so good that I ate two of the three meals that night. I didn't sleep too good that night...
Restaurant proportions are WAY out of control. Why the U.S. is considered obese! In most places the portion you get is actually two portions.
And they charge like it's two portions.
Yup! I can count on one hand the times I bought food outside of the grocery/home in the last 40 days. Doing pretty good. Proud of myself, helps that I am broke. Then I have to avoid buying it out, or I starve the rest of the week. lol
I was looking up recipes for caramels and found a quote I thought was amusing.
"Making caramels for the first time can be pretty intimidating...
Now, the second time you make caramels, you'll be an old pro. In fact, this caramel-making knowledge can be a bit dangerous. The ability to whip up a batch of caramels on a whim is a power that should not be taken lightly, after all. Just promise me you'll use your power for good."
I thought to myself, yeah I can see me making caramels and eating caramels much too often.

Pan fried in a cast iron skillet of course! I soften the onions in a separate pan with butter while I fry the liver...then I place the fried liver on a paper towel covered plate while I dump some of the seasoned flour that I used to coat the liver into the pan with the liver grease...brown it up, add some beef broth, get the gravy thick as I want, and dump the onions and liver back in to heat up together for about 10 minutes.
Served over white rice and with a side of green beans.
It was calf liver. Yumm!

All my symptoms pointed to kidneys, but I have my first ever UTI. I had literally none of the regular symptoms, but that is what the test came back as. So I'm on antibiotics which I know will make me better, but they make me feel terrible first.
Well. I spent yesterday with my beloved wife, in the truck all day pretty much- we went to Jonesboro to pick up Rusty's new engine- it's about 3,3.5 hours away. While there, my uncle and aunt, who live about another hour north, just happened to be in Jonesboro celebrating their 41st wedding anniversary, so we met up with them and took them out to Olive Garden for an anniversary gift. So blessed to have them.
My uncle has been a role model for me all of my life, and is one of my best friends- we both are madly interested in antique cars. He was slightly evil- knowing I have been on a diet, he informed me that he had brought me a gift. As we were leaving he gave me the gift, saying" I know you are keeping the weight off, but one a week is only 150 calories." The gift- a CASE of glass bottled, real sugar Dr. Pepper. I fear he has overestimated my self control. :sadbounce:
And today, I had the pleasure of making a contact with our esteemed Administrator-

In regards to me missing- I was off the last three days. After running over to the Mini-sters and enjoying dinner Saturday night with our wives and kiddos, I was bushed. And yes, Mini and the wives managed to drag me in to my least favorite type of meal, Mexican, and I partook.
Then yesterday, the wife and I loaded up and went grocery shopping- did the whole "tax refund/stock up" thing and spent over $350. I nearly had a stroke. Told Lou I better not hear "We don't have anything to eat" from her or Chey for a while. (That's their code for " I want to eat out")
Now I'm back at work. Would appreciate prayers- I have applied for a Parole/Probation position in my county... I need it.

Made it through the day. Mentioned my applying in passing to a friend who works for the governor and within 20 minutes I was escorted upstairs to see the person directly over that division. She requested a resume, spoke with me for a bit, and stated she would pass the resume along with instructions for the "powers that be" to look favorably and closely at it. So...it's in God's hands, just where it belongs.
We have more snow!!! I'm excited but kinda blah about it. No classes but that also means no work. Which honestly with my body fighting infection right now I need to have a chill day anyway. Thankful that I got up to Bristol yesterday to make my car payment and pick up mail from my parents.
It's been snowing here as well. It's beautiful, but I did about do the splits this morning on it. I shouldn't have stepped on what I walked over.. I knew it would be slicker than snot, haha. Thankfully I didn't actually fall. I'm apparently a ninja. :)
Roscoe.. Jonesboro is MY hometown neck of the woods! Miss that place! :)
Finally on the tail-end of my year-end reporting that has to be done to our CPA here at work. Hopefully once I turn them in to their office, they'll be gentle. :) I'm just excited about getting to go home at the normal time again! No more 12 hour days!!

Yes, Lady Nelle, I thought it was your old stomping grounds...first time in years that I've been there. It's bigger than I remember.
And in sharing, I didn't think today would ever end. And another of my coworkers- lord, I hope I shall soon call him a former coworker- managed to gyp me out of a holiday off by manufacturing an illness. We know what he's doing, the bosses know what he's doing, but nobody seems to be willing or able to stop it. Good thing I'm not king for a day- he'd be an unemployed jerk instead of just a jerk.
And the wind was atrocious. It was so bad, I had to alter my grilling plans because there was no way to get a fire going in the grill. But, now, I've ate- too much- and I'm relaxing. Finally.
I've had a terrible day and a terrible headache I can't shake. :flamingmad: :getangry:
I'm heading to Mel on Thursday and staying through Sunday. My heart just hurts for her and what she is going through. Thankfully we got a snow day today and I had already gotten a jump on all my homework. Both of my bosses have been super great and all my professors as well. Also I take back all the horrible things I've said or thought about my MIL who is getting me a discounted room at a hotel in the same chain as the one she works at.
I had tentative plans of going down for spring break. This is not the reasoning I wanted behind going so soon. :smirk2:
Give Mel an extra hug from me.
Glad someone can go be with her for a bit through this...
Morning all. It's cold out here. Which I hate, but it sure 'nuff made the Predator, aka Corvette, want to run this morning.
We still have snow but we have a whole lot of ice right now. My university is the ONLY one in the area not out or on any delay. I was selfishly hoping for one just to be able to sleep. Our new neighbors downstairs had a horrible cough and our bedroom to bedroom neighbors were having a marathon last night if you know what I mean.... But on the other hand I got all my homework for this week done and will be turning things in early today. Brandon's teacher canceled his class [lucky] and he'll be making sure tiny car is ready to go for tomorrow.
My eating healthy has gotten hosed this morning. I carefully ate a banana for breakfast. Packed a salad for lunch with an apple for snacktime.
Then my favorite representative brought in 8 BOXES of fried pies, in every flavor possible from chocolate to blueberry to apple....ect. At that point , it wasn't whether I was going to eat one but whether I would stop at one or eat 4. ...:fork:
So did you stop at 1 or 4? lol :nono:
Praying for our Melbsss!
So I'm listening to my Bible on my phone and reading along on my iPad this morning.
Roscoe texted me. I respond and turn my phone back over to finish reading/listening.
Suddenly the Bible goes silent. I look at my phone just in time to hear a voice ask "did you butt dial me?"
Let me assure you, that was NOT in the Bible.
I accidentally dialed Roscoe... LOL

She messaged me this afternoon when it happened. It's so weird how each person goes through things. Even though you know something is going to happen, the punch in the gut when it does happen. I'm just incredibly thankful that I was able to work out to be able to go. I'll be taking my laptop and tablet. If anyone can/does skype let us know. I'm sure she would like to see some friendly/familiar faces.
Now to finish my burger and get finished packing!

I have a new dishwasher! :D Well, not new. New to me. Same difference. ;) My dad had someone give him a really nice one, and my old one was... Well, lacking. Lol. And since my dad loves me, I got the dishwasher. :D
Seriously starting to wonder if some of Miss Bella's ongoing sleep issues are because she's itching really badly. Her eczema has been awful lately. I've been cutting down on her dairy intake, knowing that's often the cause, but I may need to try cutting it out completely. Ugh. My poor baby has had SO many tummy/food issues. I wish there were some easy fixes, but there aren't. Can't help but wonder if an unknown food intolerance was the root of the horrendous tummy aches I would get when I was little. I remember curling up on the floor trying not to move and being totally miserable.
Teddy is exploring the onion bag. If he tries taking a bite of his new discovery, I'm going to laugh. :biglaugh:
:beret:
Ruby - dunno if you're into essential oils or haven't ever tried them; but trying coconut oil, 5 drops of tea tree, and 20 drops of lavender mixed together is supposed to be good for eczema. The lavender might help her sleep too!
/me is a crazy oiler lady these days
Diffusing lemongrass, peppermint and lavender to ward off headache/migraine. Been doing it since Tuesday nights awful migraine. So far so good!
Usually I like songbirds. There's this one mockingbird that sits on the roof of my workplace and flat-out tears it up. I like that.
But when I'm trying to sleep and a bird perches on my air conditioner and cuts loose... NOT good! Those birds can get loud and he sounded like he was right next to my ear.
I walked to the truck stop beside my hotel this morning in a knee length skirt and a t-shirt. Husband says it's pouring snow at home
I'm currently working on homework related items prior to the services today. I've only gotten in 2 Mel hugs but don't worry, I will get all yalls requested hugs in before I leave. Also got some Knut snuggles last night.

I have 2 turtle doves (so my parents say based on their coloring, sounds, and because there are two of them) that have been hovering on my stoop for the last 2-3 days. Mom thinks they must have a nest close by. But I can hear them coo'ing at certain times. Thankfully not at night so far. lol

Hitting 70's this whole week. Supposed to stay this way into next week too. I LOVE it.
And yes give Melbs our hugs!
Jenn, I do like using essential oils. I just have to be ultra-cautious with her because her skin is even more sensitive than mine. :-? And that's on top of her being so little. Wonder how far I'd have to dilute that. Hmmm.... We already use copious amounts of coconut oil on her. And I do have both the other oils right now. Maybe I'll try something along that line tonight before bed.
:beret:
Maybe cut those amounts in halves, or thirds for the first time? And then if her skin doesn't react, maybe then just add a few drops each time?
It's beautiful warm and sunny here. The trees are blooming. I hope we don't have a cold snap that kills everything.
:hi: Been busy today...but sadly I don't think I got anything productive done. At least not until I got home and turned my attention to the ham room. I move my antique file cabinet in to the room, and tore apart an old dvd player that had quit. A little persuasion, and it works again. I am the man. :hypocrite:
Hello. I'm still here. I've been in and read some this week but didn't feel much like posting.
Things are over now. Funeral is done and everyone is gone back to their respective places in the world.
I have a move ahead of me now. My brothers have paid me two months advance on a one bedroom apartment here in this complex...but now I have to pack, move, have a yard sale to get to of the stuff I don't need or want or have room for, I need to find and buy a stackable washer and dryer for the new apt, and get a full time job to be able to support myself.
And I have till May 1st for the job thing.
*sigh*
I'm ok, really. It's just an adjustment. Gonna be difficult for awhile. I can do this. I just have to remember how.
Thanks for the prayers and support.
Today at 3pm we are having a funeral for a wonderful elder lady of our church. I have been asked to be a pallbearer and I consider it an honor. She was a bright spot in our church.
I hope they don't have a gloomy funeral planned, because that's not at all what she was like. But I think it would appeal to her sense of humor that the funeral is on Valentine's Day.
Helped Chel cook and cut about 25 briskets yesterday.
*perk*
Where's mine? :D :D
We also cooked about 20 or so pork loins. I almost forgot about those. She's doing fundraisers again.
So I surmised.
Where's mine? :D
Back to the work grind. :sadbounce:
Super tired. Been up entirely too late the last few days. Like in the wee hours. Lawd I need a nap.
BAH. How can kids make messes from one end of the house to the other so quickly?? I'm sure I NEVER did that to my poor mother. :hypocrite:
:beret:
Snow and ice before and after aren't fun...
I miss you Mel!!!
Had to cut my trip short [again] but this time due to weather. Instead of staying and leaving after church sunday, I left Saturday evening, drove over half way and stopped for the night in northern Alabama. Got up way early sunday and drove the rest of the way beating out all the snow. We got a snow day again today from university.
Took forever, but I did my biggest laptop rebuild so far today. Toshiba case, Asus MB, HP HD, and generic ram. I shall call it Frakenwindows 10. Windows 10 ran more stable than anything including Linux. Was able to get my old MS Office Enterprise Edition. Tout side use to be the churches and when I got the HD out it sounded like a babies rattle. I was going to put 8 gigs of ram in it but it would have required further work so 4 will do.
Well. :hi: I am back. Been busy. Worked yesterday, then came home and changed clothes before going to Bro Wilson's to work on Rusty. Cody, (Bro Wilson's grandson) had the majority of the preliminary work to pull the engine done, but before calling it a night, we pulled the transmission...Good thing we decided to replace the transmission. The throw-out bearing was nearly gone, the fluid smelled burnt from the trip a few years ago to meet Mini at the car track, and a couple of other minor things we are addressing. I shall owe Cody an eternity for all this work- but Rusty will be like a new ride when we are done.
Cody said when he drained the oil from the new engine, it looked fresh, clean and new. So far, so good..

"Linux" is a wide universe. Try Mint (Cinnamon edition.) Win10 spies on you too much.
Of course... if the computer will never be online, there is no way for Win10 to report to headquarters. ;)
About to throw my work computer down the stairs. It's a piece of junk. And my company won't replace it.
Nor do we have onsite assistance for it, since I'm on the retail side, and so I get to send it in and be without a computer for a week, or two.
yall so fancy at CVS now. they even have an iPad at my mom's store now. Back in my day, it was just the old behometh in the office and a couple scantrons that randomly decided not to scan anymore.
I'm taking a study break in the library. Brandon has a test tomorrow so I'm leaving him alone and I have a TON to do myself. So far I've gotten 40+ pages of articles for sociology read, a 2 page paper in the same class, and my 3 page history study guide filled out. I have a speech due on thursday, a social statistics assignment on friday, my first history test the same day, and this infernal program called mindtap in history to complete by friday night. Add into that classes, 2 keva shifts, and a work study shift. I'm living on white mochas from starbucks for the next few days.....
Also fun the last day or so. Brandon fell down our steps to the apartment yesterday and had a stye in his right eye explode today. Poor dude....
HeatherB, sistah, I got tired just reading all that. That much activity can't be healthy for you. (I read that somewhere.)

When I say''linux'' I mean around the 15 or so different versions I have a bootable disk. Windows 7 and linux both gave me glitches. Windows 10 runs the smoothest. I'm conservative so the NSA probably watches all I do anyway. lol
So, if they want to watch me work on editing sermons and loading them to truthsalem.com that's ok with me. lol
I need tea.
Yes, I'm predictable.
Well. At least about tea, I am.
:beret:
I woke up this morning with a mild headache and a blah feeling.
FIRST THOUGHT: Hope I'm not getting sick.
SECOND THOUGHT: No fair! People who get drunk the night before are supposed to wake up with this! Why did I wake up with it?
Fortunately it has passed and I feel fine now. At least for the moment... I just ate a fairly large havarti sandwich for breakfast so my sinuses will be unhappy with me for a good half of today. But it was worth it! Yum!
I woke up with a headache too. But it's slowly dissipating for me too. I ate my steel cut oats.
Mine is probably cus I was up until almost 2am. haha I'm diffusing a headache blend in my diffuser.
I need a nap.
It's beautiful outside today. We sure didn't have much winter weather this year. I'm sure the bugs will be bad this year.
I'm superrrrrr glad of the non-wintery winter we've had. Makes me dance. and shout. I'm so ready for summer!
Quote from: The Purple Fuzzy on February 17, 2016, 04:46:34 PMIt's beautiful outside today. We sure didn't have much winter weather this year. I'm sure the bugs will be bad this year.
That's my main worry. The bugs this summer. Last year I only had one wasp in my bedroom the whole year. This summer will be like two summers ago when I had at least three wasps every day.
I now have a plan.
Rent on new place is paid for March. Phone bill is paid for March. Tomorrow I have four (maybe 2 more) ladies from church to help me pack. Shouldn't take too long with that many helpers. Friday and Saturday, Michael, a kid from church who recently got in trouble, is at my disposal to help me move boxes and small furniture to the new apartment. Monday I'll call the power and water and get stuff transferred to new place. Next week I finish odds and ends and price stuff to sell. Friday and Saturday NEXT week I have an in-apartment yard sale. We are not permitted to use the lawn or breezeway or any area outside, but you can set up inside and sell all ya want. So I plan to set up stuff that I don't need or want and sell it then. Also Saturday my brother is bringing me a new queen sized matteress and box springs to use with my Moms bed frame. Hers is old and uncomfortable and I don't want it and since he has one, he's bringing that and buying Moms curio cabinets from me.
By Tuesday the first, I plan to be in my new place.
After that, the job hunt begins.
I need a stackable washer and dryer for a decent price. And soon. The washer and dryer I have is going back to Aaron's rental place cause I'm trying to consolidate my bills and I don't need a monthly payment. Plus it's a regular one and my new apt is equipped for a stackable. So the ones I have wont work anyway.
Otherwise I'm pretty well set.
I am currently fixing to leave the apt and find food and buy packing tape and get some newspapers for packing.
I have no idea what I want to eat. Nothing sounds good right now.
I have wanted sushi since Saturday. I blame you.
Today I'm thankful for leadership who is understanding about us college students. We were on the 2nd to last End Times dvd for church tonight [Thank ya Jesus!!!] and I admit, I wrote my speech for tomorrow during church. I didn't feel that terrible when I realized Madison had her laptop out and was studying as well. I talked to Pastor Lewis after service and told him. He said as long as I'm there, he understands because he's a student too but don't do it on Sundays!

Haha! I got a call this morning from a friend from church (who you haven't met yet) and she felt bad that she was out of town during the whole week that I was with mom and she didn't get back before the funeral so she wanted to take me to lunch today...my point is, we went to Yamato...a Japanese habitchi place. I had three rolls and some ginger salad.
I found out she knew nothing of Ichiban and the all you can eat sushi deal that we partook of last Saturday. We now have plans for a lunch break there, next week sometime.
Sorry.
Not. :P
I've never had sushi. I'm not opposed to trying it, I just need a sushi expert to allow me to tag along.
In other news, ugh.
:ugly:
:stupid:
At least on the "ugh" part. I have no desire to eat bait, otherwise known as sushi.
Was supposed to teach last night. Got there and discovered a preacher from my childhood who hasn't been to our church in over 20 years had dropped in and was preaching. My ram in the bush.....:P
He did great, and it was good to see him.
Tonight we get to go work on Rusty....and Cody told me that he has to take off tomorrow or he's going to lose vacation time, so he's taking off tomorrow and we are gonna work on Rusty then too. We *might* have Rusty back running this weekend.....
We'll have the pews gone and chairs in SUNDAY! I'm hoping to have an actual true sound booth setup as well. Sound system running through one for audio and recording. The other will run the Projector ONLY. We had so many crashes because they bought a kids first computer, and expected it to do everything. I'm surprised it lasted 6 1/2 years.
Not feeling well today... trying to motivate myself to get going on something.
I didn't get too crazy with my sushi. 1 roll was smoked salmon and cream cheese and the other 1 was crab meat of some sort, avocado, and cucumber. Both were quite delicious.
I woke up this morning feeling like I've been run over by and 18 wheeler. My feet, knees, and head feel like they could explode at any moment. Sometimes I wonder if when this happens, it's my bodies way of telling me to slow down because I end up getting too much going on. Going to try to take the morning easy and get my speech done I have to present in 3 hours and probably just doze off and on.
Also our taxes dropped this morning. First thing we are doing is going to pay off Husband's car!!
I have a portable dishwasher for sale, if anyone wants it. But you'll have to come pick it up yourself. :P
Teddy's second tooth finally popped through, and I THOUGHT that might mean the screaming would stop at least temporarily. But no. It did not mean that. Poor little fellow. Teething has been really rough on him. I don't remember it being quite this bad for Miss Bella.
I need a break. But all of my trusted (local) babysitters are either sick, or taking care of sick people. Bah humbug. lol
:beret:
If you go to the Chinesse Buffet across from Wal-Mart ine Meridian MS they have a variety of sushi including deep fried.
Got a lot done today. Packed what I'm keeping out of Moms room, got the tables set up in there, took several loads of stuff to the new apt. Packed up the kitchen and living room. Now I have to pack the bathroom and my room and move furniture.
I also called and got the water and electric transferred over. Did a bunch of laundry.
It's moving right along.
Hopefully will be moved and staying in the new place by the weekend. Then all I have to do is have my yard sale here and clean the place up, and it will be over. I'll take a day or two to rest and then the job search starts.
Still need a washer and dryer though. For now I have these for another week. But will need the stackable soon.
Have you contacted any used appliance stores? When I had a fridge go out a few years ago I put a bug in the ear of one of the stores and they called me as soon as they got in what I was looking for.
I finally got out of bed around 4 this afternoon. Missed my speech. Husband went and got me potato soup. That's about been my day.
MelodyB: Glad it's moving so smoothly. Never met you myself, but from what I hear you deserve to have something go right.
And for sushi, about the best we have around here is Hibachi Grill. No deep-fried sushi, but some really good stuff. Some raw fish, some cooked fish, some excellent smoked salmon sushi... and some squid, which was too chewy to be worth it for me. I ate the one I got, but I didn't get any more.
@MelodyB See at Aaron's or RAC if they have a stackable for sell. Most rent-to-own places have a ton of stuff that works great but they can't rent again due to model years or if it had a major repair. They usually offer 3-6 month warranties and usually the price is great.
I thought she didn't want to rent one for money reasons lol?
Melbs you really need to check Craigslist - I got my full size for like less than $200. I bet Craigslist would work for you. Especially cheap! Sometimes people will negotiate cus they need to sell.
I may or may not have been looking at craiglists for around her area. Cheapest I could find for stackable was 450. No clue what the norm is for that type though or that area.
I've decided I want to bite the bullet and do summer classes. I only have to take 6 hours [classes] to keep my work study job. I just don't think I can do a whole, full-time work load at Keva. I'll end up punching people in the face and I'm sure that's frowned upon. This way I will keep my momentum for school and my work study position [which pays the same as Keva] and I can make my schedule there. So maybe in this way, they will stop overworking me and scheduling me every Sunday!!!! Grrrr!!!!
Quote from: MsJennJenn on February 19, 2016, 03:09:08 PMI thought she didn't want to rent one for money reasons lol?

It's not renting it's purchasing from rent-to-own places. They have tons of nice stuff they sell because it's been taken from circulation for whatever reason. Usually at major discounted prices and usually a 3-6 month warranty. My parents got great deals this way. Just call a rent-to-own place and ask ''What do you have for sale you can't rent?''.
Work was stupid today. No other way to put it. I finally was able to leave 1.5 hours after we closed due to the circus.
I'm now in my pajamas, eating sushi, and watching Guardians of the Galaxy [again].
Today is our 33rd anniversary. :)
:hi: Spent all day working on Rusty. Came home, took Lou out to eat. Fixing to go to bed...
So not only was work crazy, but one of my coworkers [who wasn't even working yesterday] went on a drunken rant against me last night via FB threatening me up to and including killing me. Then he turned around and emailed the boss that he resigned. So I may have to go to work today? If he doesn't show up? Brandon is not happy with the situation at all. He wants me to put in my notice regardless because I won't be safe working with him or if he is no longer employed because he knows I end up by myself for at least 1-2 hours every shift I work. I do have enough time with work study due to snow days to work around 20 hours per week til the end of the semester. Also as of today Brandon is making 10/hr and they are offering full-time.
I have no idea how I'm going to get my homework done this weekend.
As per Tacos suggestion, I called ALL of the rent-to-own places in town and surrounding towns and only one had what I needed...but for far more than I am willing to pay at this time. I also called every used appliance store and came up with plenty of regular washers and dryers but no stackable.
I've checked craigslist, I found one and emailed the seller but they never replied. I've checked the online local boards for it and nothing yet.
I know it will turn up when I need it and for the amount I can afford, I just wish it was today so I'd have it off my mind already.
Shew,Lord. Been a busy weekend. But a good one- Rusty is now 100% back in running condition. In fact, he is running better now than he has in the 8 years I've owned him. I am on top of the world. Those two months without him were killer, but it was worth it to have this low mileage running gear in it now. I drove 50 miles or so after getting him back on the road, just to make sure there were no issues. Smiled the whole time...
Co-worker showed up to work yesterday sober and supposedly 'didn't remember' threatening to kill me. I had already showed the owner and boss the messages when I went by to speak to them about the situation. I received another message from him last night saying he was 'sorry'. Given the situation, after talking to husband and wise friends and also after much prayer, I have decided to tell my boss to drop me to 1 day per week. I have work study time and Brandon has decided to go full time so that we can get insurance and to also keep me safe from crazy co-worker. I'll stay 3 days a week until she can hire someone on, but I give her 2 weeks to do so. If she doesn't, then I'm gone. I can't work in fear. I've done it before. I had a co-worker at my first AutoZone who was constantly harassing me up to pinning me against racks and groping. I got to stressed about work that my hair had started to fall out. I now have the option not to have to stay in that situation and I won't. Also no more Sundays or Wednesdays. I can't wait to actually be in church every week instead of maybe 3 times total a month.
:hi:
Ugh. Morning again. Looking forward to vacation, it needs to hurry and get here..
:hi:
Boss tried to tell me if I dropped to only 1 day it had to be Sundays. I told her if I can't do Saturdays then I'm gone. Starting in 2-3 weeks...I'll be only working on Saturdays
I'm dragging. And I'm also more than a little irritated at certain teens who live at my house. Whose kids are these, anyway? :hypocrite: feeling a bit hungry, but too tired to want to get up and do anything about it.

What did Chris and Bella do?
Still without a working computer. But I checked the UPS shipping tracking today and it's finally made it to it's destination. Here's to hoping they fix it today, and ship back tomorrow. Sigh. Yea right....
Went to Austin this weekend with a friend. Our young adult leaders moved up there to Pastor a church last month, so we made our first trek up there to see them. Super fun, but I am super tired today. I need a nap.
It was so warm last night I almost needed the air conditioner and today it's chilly and I had to put on my flannel shirt.
My Monday is going like I wish every Monday would go. I had received a subpoena on a DWI that I wrote, oh, 12 years ago that I had to go to court on- at 1 pm. Our department has a standing policy that if you have court during your work day, you get the day off for court. So, I slept in until I discovered Lou was off.
Then I took her to breakfast and cheated by eating one of the biggest best biscuits I have ever saw in a restaurant , smothered in chocolate gravy. Our chariot of choice was, of course, Rusty, who is like a new truck with his new running gear.
Came home, got ready for court, saw all of my old friends and discovered that the court case had been postponed until March. Spent maybe 30 minutes there, then wandered through the court house seeing all my county official friends (politicking is what I've been accused of).
I left there, went by the butcher shop where they were selling aged sirloin cheap. Like $1.99 a lb, if you bought the entire piece of meat they cut the steaks out of. $20 later I have several steaks and about 5 lbs of ground sirloin. Best deal I've found in a while.
Then I came home, hauled off some stuff to the burn pile, built a shelf for my radio room, and am currently keeping a check on a pork loin that is broiling for dinner tonight...:fork:
Class. Work study. Went to pick up my check from Keva. I'm glad to have a nice boring day after my crazy weekend.
Our pastor bought a thinkpad for the church!!!
Mind you, there is nothing wrong with this. For the task at hand, a T510 is what I would have recommended. And when I asked him what led him to get a thinkpad he said about what I would have given as the reason - "I knew it would be moved around a lot so I wanted something built like a tank."
But what puzzles me still is how he found out about them. He never did ask me what kind of computer he should get, and thinkpads are not what normal (non-nerd) people think of by default. Normal people get dells or hps or maybe acers. I'm accustomed to thinkpads being the province of nerds and businessmen employed by higher-end companies.
I knew our pastor was reasonably intelligent, but sometimes he still surprises me. But it's a good kind of surprise.
:hi:
Urgh. Morning, all. Back at work...
At work study. Have 1 class today. Going after it to pay off Brandon's car!!!!!!   Next on our list are my credit cards, then my car. I want us to get out of school and only have debt from school. That's the goal anyway.
Doctor visit... Yipee. Never let a doctor give you more than one antibiotic in a 2 month period. Just trust me antibiotics can kill you, or make you wish you were dead.
My husband was on 3 really strong ones recently. Now he's on probiotics to get his tummy back to normal.
Quote from: The Purple Fuzzy on February 24, 2016, 12:52:35 AMMy husband was on 3 really strong ones recently. Now he's on probiotics to get his tummy back to normal.
9 different ones in 2 1/2 months. I have an internal/external yeast infection because they wiped my good bacteria out. I knew external yeast infections hurt but when it's internal even in your throat it's way worse. On multiple probiotics now.
It's time doctors start to practice on others than me.
:hi: Soooo tired. And down. Still haven't gotten a call for the probation job. It's a bit depressing and annoying, as I know I fit all the qualifications and would at least like to have the chance to "sell" them on me. Trying to remember I want His will and not mine, but struggling with it, truthfully. I just keep repeating to myself- "Your will, not mine. Your will be done."

Hush, you complain about filling out one wreck report every 5 years. What will it be when a something happens on the new job? You might get a paper cut or something. lol
You should always always take probiotics with antibiotics! You technically should take them daily anyway. I do!
I started taking a daily probiotic about a month or so ago. Has helped my tummy a whole lot.
Well. About 9:30, I got the call I've been waiting on. Interview at noon on March 2nd. Progress....Lord, I hope it is His will, cause I sure want it..

I just eat yogurt. And not that low- or nonfat junk. It's hard to find real yogurt made from whole milk but it's worth the search. Almost as good as ice cream.
I eat real yogurt and drink butter milk whenever they give me an antibiotic. I also take a 12 hour probiotic. They just nuked me with stronger and stronger antibiotics.

I like. :hi: Morning, all. Back at work. Got my new smoker in....gonna smoke some pork chops tonight to test it, then some baby back ribs tomorrow...:fork:
Quote from: Lynx on February 25, 2016, 04:01:48 AMHey Bobby I just found something that reminded me of you. Well... reminded me of the running joke about how you can't stand people.

Especially that last line.
love it!
I love caller ID. I almost always answer the phone if it's from people I know. But if not...if it's an unknown number or an 800 number, it goes to voicemail. If it's important, they will leave a message.
The other day I got a call from an 800 number though, and when I listened to the message it was my bank. Someone had charged $181.00 to my account in the United Kingdom and my bank flagged it as unusual activity.
I called back and got it taken care of right away, and had to go down and get a new debit card issued. They denied the charge and reported it as a fraud. Thank God for a smart bank! I didn't have an extra $181 to waste on someone I didn't know!
I'm currently chugging white chocolate mochas and camping out in the school library. As if I didn't have enough to do already, my history teacher decided she's no longer going to give us time during class to take notes from her powerpoints [which the tests come directly from]. So I had to take notes from 3 powerpoints on top of everything else I have due. All my teachers are trying to get as much done before spring break. They are killing me. Or at least my back from these terrible seats in the library.
Keva sent out the schedule for next week and I'm down to 2 days but 1 of them was Sunday the 6th. #1. I said no more sundays. #2 I specifically asked for that one off to go visit my home church for their anniversary service. #3 It would have been my 3rd sunday in a row!!! And my other day was Wednesday which means I probably wouldn't have made church that night either. I sent a text to the boss as soon as I saw it and within 2 hours it had been fixed. Sheesh.
Do they allow you to "take notes" by using your phone to take a picture of their powerpoint slides? :D
Social Stats test done. I feel B-ish about it. I honestly only had the chance to read over my notes twice. Got my history test from last week back and got a 90 on it. 3 questions I missed were trick questions that everyone missed. That teacher is really starting to grate me. The last 3 classes have been 'here is why believing the holy bible is ridiculous'. I'm tempting to ask if she is going to take the time to rip into other religions as we go throughout ancient civilizations......
:hi:
Running in on my day off....fixing to smoke up some ribs in a couple hours....:fork:
Had a pastor call and misrepresent himself to my pastor so my pastor gave him my number because it was tech related. He called my house after 10 pm, and again at 6:58 am which I answered. He got an attitude because I didn't answer the night before. I spent 5 hours working to help him dealing with his attitude the whole time. I did this because my pastor sent me a text saying he was a pastor and to help him out. I later discovered he lied to my pastor and me. I don't like attitude when I'm helping you, and really don't like liars.
Rant over...
Don't anybody get too close to me for the next couple of days. I might blow my nose on your shirt sleeve. I hate colds.
The kicker is I'm supposed to sing a solo tomorrow night. Maybe I'll sing "If you're happy and you know it... hold your nose and gently blow it... if you're happy and you know it, honk your horn."
I don't know if any of y'all remember the many times I posted about my husband, asking y'all to help me pray that he would get back in church. (He had quit church in early 2006.) In case anyone does remember, I wanted to let y'all know that he got back in church on March 15th of last year. When he's not out of town or out of state working, he is in church with us on Sundays and most Wednesday nights. :)
Niki, I had often wondered what the outcome of your situation had been. So glad for an awesome report!!!!!
I really don't want to work today [or tomorrow] but alas.....also I still have a mountain of homework to get caught up with before monday. Piffle.
:freaky2: :hypocrite: :thumbsup2: :waving:
Niki!! I'm SO SO glad!! I've thought of you and prayed for you, even when I didn't take the time to tell you so. And I know it can be very wearying to continue answering questions about a situation that is extremely hurtful, so I haven't bombarded you with queries. But I'm SO pleased to hear your good news about answered prayer!!

If anyone has ANY ideas about how to keep teen boys' laundry and bedroom and... err, SELVES... from smelling completely vile and making everyone around them want to vomit, I would love to hear suggestions. We force them (yes, I mean that literally in the case of one particular teen) to take daily showers and change clothes every day, but their room continues to reek. And every time their laundry is in the washer/dryer, the smell is so completely repulsive that I seriously want to vomit. Not kidding. The only thing close to help you understand the smell... well, you ever smelled something that has been dead for a really really long time and is rotting?? Think that. But on steroids. I only wish I was kidding.
Mr Teddy has two teeth now. And keeps trying them out on me. And then looks quite shocked when I smack him. LOL Poor child. I'm sure it's completely bewildering why biting your mommy isn't acceptable behavior.
Miss Bella is being very very two this week. With a good dose of 16 thrown in for good measure.
Chris is applying for (second) job(s). Disheartened and discouraged. The two oldest really need to be helping out with expenses, but without jobs of their own... well, it's not like we can charge them rent, with no money. :smirk2: Here's hoping God opens up the right door(s) soon!

Work was as ridiculous as I thought it would be. I had to work with crazy drunk man. He still doesn't remember threatening to kill me. He asked for a ride home. I obliged. He wanted to be dropped off at the gas station to buy beer.
We are possible looking at moving out of our campus housing. We are discussing finding a house or townhouse with another couple. Could be interesting. We shall see.
Time for a shower and homework. Work tomorrow at the smoothie shop.
Ruby have you tried febreeze?
Happy to hear Nikki's news. I've wondered about that...
And in sharing, yesterday was grand. Got to move an old car off of my yard to my junkyard, and began work to bring my first truck to the shop to began work on it. then I enjoyed mowing the front yard and cleaning up, and a ride with a good friend in Rusty, capped off by some delicious smoked chicken.
Today, that's past. I'm back at work, and I feel like crud. Sick as a dog. :pound:
You didn't move the Studebaker? :nono: :noo: ???
Roscoe-when is your vacation toward my end of Tennessee?
Somehow motivation hit last night and I got a good chunk of homework done. I still have more than I'm comfortable with considering I have to work this afternoon.
Brandon was approached about a supervisor position with WM. Pay would jump from 10/hr to 15/hr but it's at a different store about 30 minutes away. Definitely something to consider since we are talking about possibly moving. Plus if we were to move to the midpoint between our college and his work place then, I'd be in the same town as church!
Yay for living in the same town as your church! I can't count how many times I have had to pop back home for an audio adapter or computer gadget someone needed to borrow. Every time I say thank you Lord I live 2.5 miles away.
So I've been thinking about how simple the world could have been. God didn't have to make a complex ecosystem with millions of different kinds of animals and plants, all balancing each other out. God could have made us and grass, and us able to eat grass. It would make a slightly dull life for us but it would have worked.
But apparently God is an artist. With all the things to enjoy in this world it boggles the mind how anybody can be bored.
Well, I had a new experience today. I had a chicken lick my arm.
Be careful PF!! It was tasting you!!!
Work was about as stupid as I suspected it would be. A line of people all day long going 'it's such a shame you are at work today missing out on all this sunshine'. My response in my head 'yes maam. thank you for making sure i have to work on sundays. especially beautiful ones.'
:hi: Feeling tons better today. I felt terrible yesterday....stomach bug, I guess. And Heather, we are supposed to be in that area starting Friday the 18th. I think that Elona and Jason are gonna try to wander down that Sunday and Monday....All that is fluid though, depending on how my job interview Wednesday goes.

That's what adina said. This chicken is a little black bantam and it's tongue is kinda white.
Well yank it out and fry it up. Nothing like a mess of fried chicken tongues. :thumbsup2:
Okay I shouldn't have said that. I haven't eaten breakfast yet and now I don't want to...
Rainy. Nasty. Wish I were at home. Getting butterflies over the job interview tomorrow.
And In sharing, last night I sliced a pork loin lengthwise, stuffed with diced apples and onions, wrapped in bacon and smoked for 3 hours or so before basting with honey and letting it smoke another 30 minutes. It was divine.
And while I was waiting on that, I drug my beloved old Dodge home to be worked on. Twas a grand day..
You've had a bad day when you literally have to start quoting ''be angry and sin not'' out loud to yourself in public. You also realize how intimidating that sounds coming from a person my size when people start backing up.
My pastor's wife opened her bakery doors today. The location they have came stocked with everything they would need. It had been closed though for at least 4 months. She sold out of cupcakes within 4.5 hours of being open. By the time I got out of class they were all gone.
It's been a good school day, but I feel completely unmotivated and blah this evening. Probably had something to due with going by my parents this evening after going home to vote in the primary. They always bring me down. Plus I was on edge driving back in the severe thunderstorm. I don't like driving at night or in the rain and here I was driving in them both.
Keva supposedly finally hired someone today. Thank ya Jesus!
It's a beautiful day here. Supposed to get to 72*
Bakery?
*perk*
Did someone say bakery? :D :D :D
Any cinnamon rolls left?
:hi: Interview went okay- I think. In any case, it's in God's hands. Supposed to have a few storms possible today, but be beautiful tomorrow- my day off...Ahhh...
My Lynx-sense tells me Rusty is going for a stroll tomorrow.
She hasn't gotten to cinnamon rolls yet. She's too busy trying to keep up with the cupcakes flying off the shelves. I'm HOPEFULLY going to go after class today and finally snag one!
Somehow I have made it to today and only have a 1 page paper for history tomorrow left. I have no idea how I've gotten through this week. Keva did hire someone and they are now treating me like a jerk for asking for the agreed upon schedule to go into effect in 2 weeks.
Had an amazing prayer meeting last night at church and we are preparing for revival this weekend. I hadn't been to church in 2 weeks due to work. I get to go 4 times this weekend between revival services and the anniversary service at my old church!!
Also, where have swing dresses been my whole life?!? Most comfortable dress I've ever had on.
Roscoe... What did you do with the studebaker?
Hurray for Mama Intuition and God's healing. Teddy got croup and apparently I did everything right. Or so says the pediatrician. But the poor fellow is miserable as can be. It's absolutely pitiful. :cry2:
I need a break. I'm thinking Italy. Gelato. Coffee. Pastries. The Med Sea. Yes, I like this idea.

Got a job offer this evening....from my pastor!!! I'm putting in my notice at Keva tomorrow and will start at the bakery next week!!! I'll be in charge of mixing up the batter, cookie dough, icing, etc on mondays for the week. I'm so excited. All I said to Brandon was 'i got offered a job' and he said take it before I could even finish. He found out was it was for and where and with who and he's ALL on board. I'm so excited!!!

There is a febreeze commercial that made me think of it.
it shows the teenagers room and its stench...lol but the mom daily sprayed febreeze everywhere, the room, the clothes, the boy haha and she eventually wouldn't smell his stench anymore, just febreeze. i dunno if it would work for his actual body odor? but maybe for all of the other smells? haha

Dried sage in shoes helps kill oder in shoes. My mom used it in my brothers shoes, he didn't like wearing socks and his shoes stunk. Dry sage, and also putting them in a trash bag and freezing them also worked.
Weird how walking on your tip toes for 6 months can make you stumble when your foot is flat again.

Yay for working at a bakery! :D :D :D People are always more happy when they go to a bakery.
Are they hiring?
Morning, all. :hi:
My life is absolutely AMAZING. As you know, I had an interview for a local probation parole job. My current job, although awesome, is 120 mile round trip from home, which means in addition to wear and tear on the vehicle, an hour and a half a day wasted on road warrioring with morons. But the pay is very good, not likely to be matched in my local area without a degree... thus, there I be. It was a gift from God, that saved my marriage, walk with God, and possibly my life. However, I told Lou when I took it six years ago, I felt that it was a temporary solution, and I haven't ever shook that feeling. I've applied for a couple of jobs, but God said no.
So, just before Christmas, one of my coworkers applied and was hired by Community Corrections for Parole Officer in his home county. I'd looked into that in the past, but they required a bachelor's degree, and I have no college due to bad choices as a kid, and entry level was approximately $15k less than what we make a year.
My coworker told me that it had changed and with a letter one could get a waiver based on Law enforcement experience. AND- he got to take his salary, which was huge.
While talking to my chief about him leaving, we pulled up the state website and behold, a job in my home county, exactly like what my coworker took. With my Chief's blessing, I spoke with Lou, Pastor, and prayed about it, then applied.
When some of my governor staff friends heard, they began making calls. :o I got the interview. I went to it, felt it went okay, but worried I might have blown it because I was nervous. Chief told me not to worry I was a strong interviewer based on my interview with him, and it'd be good, he was praying for God's will for me.
Yesterday at approximately 2pm, I received a call. They offered me the job, telling me that they would pay me 10% less than I make now, but in one year I'd get that back. I spend that in gas money. And further proof of God's working- Lou received a $1.30 an hour raise effective this pay check that we didn't expect. This pretty much covers everything I would lose.
So- by the end of the month or so, I shall be probation and parole, less than ten minutes from my house.
Only down side is- some might remember me complaining that I couldn't seem to lose that last 20 lbs? Well, they intend to help. Despite my 15 years of experience, Instructor certificate, Firearms instructor certificate-I have to go back through the academy. Just like a newbie. In August. Complete with three times a week mile and a half runs, every morning exercises, and confined to the Academy. Thankfully, it's just six weeks, but lord that'll be rough on my 40 year old butt.
I'm excited, overjoyed, dreading, and a ton of other emotions.... :laughhard:
Hooray for new jobs!!!!! No Isaac-they currently are not hiring. They know my situation at Keva and miss me at church, so I'm an exception. Plus with their church and bakery duties, it gives them a day [or half day off] from either.
Yes Jenn-this does mean I can regularly be in church!!!!
I felt a twinge of guilt as I was writing out my resignation this morning, then I remembered that they scheduled me next week at Keva on only my church days and with the guy who threatened my life and that twinge went away.
One more class then I'm on spring break!
Congrats, y'all!
Yay Roscoe!! Congrats!!!

It's 6 am. On a Saturday, my day off. And I am awake and have been since 5.
Guess I'll get dressed and go to the hamfest early, even though the gate doesn't open until 8.
First day of spring break! Didn't set an alarm but my body was up and ready for the world at 8 am. I feel like we are going to have a heart to heart about this. Officially put in my notice at Keva. The owners and manager were very understanding and not surprised given recent events there. I start the bakery on Monday!
First night of revival was awesome. 1 filled with the Holy Ghost so far!
Yall rub these job blessings on me! I need a job. Of course I haven't officially started looking proactively. I will start that on Tuesday.
Monday is my last day with my girls. :sadbounce: but I'm glad I still go to church with them. I just won't be at their house with them twice a week. I'll miss that for sure.
I found a small fish tank at a yard sale yesterday...$4. I couldn't pass it up and now I have a new little friend named Mallard.
My apartment is all unpacked and functional...still need a washer and dryer, but other than that I'm good.
Toodles!
Melbs I cant imagine where you got Mallard lol
Ducky! Hahaha
Last nights revival service didn't even make it to the preachin. God swooped in during worship and we stayed there for almost 2 hours. This morning I'm going to anniversary service at my old church then to our last service of revival. One of the lucky aspects of having sunday services at 2:30. Brandon is out to get me an Dr Pepper IV drip to get me through the day. Lol.
I'm starting a couch to 5K program this coming Tuesday with a friend from church. I'm part of the local 'fun run' group on FB but have yet to go to any of their meets because I'm slower than my friends who are in it.
:hi: Had a good day yesterday, went to a ham radio swap meet, then done some major spring cleaning and took Rusty for a ride. My inner bookworm was thrilled to discover that my mother in law was having a yard sale, and a coworker had given her a ton of Christian fiction. I scored 27 Karen Kingsbury books. She's an awesome writer that I enjoy a lot, right up there with Dee Henderson.
Then I came home, played ham radio a bit, and smoked 3 lbs of ground sirloin burgers for Lou and the kids that invaded my home. Yes, I ate two.
Today, I'm at work. I've filled out all of my paperwork for the new job, except for the doctors part, which will be done tomorrow. And, I took advantage of the empty building this morning. They want me to run a mile and a half in 16 minutes, 55 seconds. I fast walked, wearing 30 lbs of police gear, the mile and a half in 25 minutes without being winded. I suspect without the gear and modifying it with a few minutes jogging I could get close now. I'll be spending some time before academy day preparing though. It'd be nice to not look like an out of water porpoise, panting when I run.
It seems silly to me that you have to retake the course.
Quote from: Roscoe on March 06, 2016, 04:57:13 PMThen I came home, played ham radio a bit, and smoked 3 lbs of ground sirloin burgers for Lou and the kids that invaded my home. Yes, I ate two.
Clarification requested. You ate two... burgers? Two pounds of sirloin? Or did you eat two kids?
The average person can briskly walk a mile in 20 minutes. I have no idea how I remember that, but I do. Went for a walk myself today around campus for 40 minutes. Now I'm just tired. 4 church services in 3 days. I start the bakery tomorrow. I'm calling it a night.
Urgh.

Been in bed around 10 the last two nights, so I was wide awake at 7 this morning. Actually got up and go myself to work after eating breakfast and making a lunch. I was here at 8:11.
Now I'm pretty sure I'm near needing a nap!
Someone lost their cold, and I want to return it.
Start the bakery today!! Also need to go out looking for some plates. Brandon just broke another one. We are down to 2.

I'm studying so I can go from a one star general to a two star general
He tells everyone he is studying to be a general. I suspect he intends to be a dictator. ..:pound:
And "swift kick" Jenn? More like being hit by a tractortrailer. Nevertheless, I shall make it. Doctor says I'm good to go and I've got all the paperwork turned in. As soon as they give me a start date, I shall give notice to my current job and start a new chapter in life...
As bad as I want this, I will confess here that it is a bit unsettling to be tying off into a new phase of a career at 40 years old. I pray that this will be my forever job- the one I retire from .
First night at the bakery went awesome! I will be working on my upper body strength [LOL] and their is something about the floor mixer that makes me giddy.
Today is Husband and I's first day off together in a good long while without homework to do. We are going to try to hit the new Steak N Shake again. It was packed last week when we tried to go.
Yay Heather! So glad you've finally got a stress-free (well from people anyway lol) job!!
Now we just need Melbs to find a gooodn'!! Praying for ya Melbs!!!

I know. I's just a-pickin'. (Possibly because I was envious... sirloin burgers are good.)
Yikes! Feels like I haven't "seen" you all in ages. That's what happens when you have 5 out of the 6 members of your family all sick at the same time. LOL
Congrats on the new jobs!!! How exciting!!
Isaac, I need sour dough starter. Are you coming to Oregon any time soon? :D Oh, I got in a conversation with someone recently about capes/cloaks, and had to brag a little on how the two I made for you turned out. ;) Whenever I'm able to sew again, I'm REALLY tempted to mess with that pattern (so no one else would have one just like yours) and start selling them. I was pretty happy with those projects. I have some ideas floating in my head for some design changes/embellishment/etc.
Anyhow. I'm rambling. ;)
:beret:
I'm making a batch of bread this Saturday in fact. And I found out you can mail starter across the world - just add flour until it is about as thick as noodle dough and it will survive the trip. The recipient reconstitutes it in a batch of starter food. I'll send you a blob of starter, probably tomorrow morning, with a printout of the recipe.
The recipe is a page and a half long but don't let that throw you. It's mostly just little tips I've collected along the way. And if you have any questions I check the forum, specifically this thread, every day.
For reals?!? Crazy! But I'll take you up on it. LOL!
In other random sharing, I know two teen boys that are going to be rather angry when they arrive home from school today. Consequences aren't fun - for anyone - but sometimes they're necessary. And in this case... well, this is about the millionth time Chris and I have had to deal with the same exact issue so the consequences are growing each time there is yet another offense. This time... well, they're going to think we're being totally extreme. BUT. If they had done what they were supposed to do the last five or ten times, the consequences wouldn't be what they are now.
Blah. I hate being a parent. I love my kids. All four of them. But I really don't like being a parent.
:beret:
:hi: Might be disappointing some friends....:sadbounce: I just saw the forecast for Gatlinburg all the week we are supposed to be there. Nothing but rain. I don't think I can drive nine hours just to be stuck in the rain. Gonna have a talk with Lou and Chey tonight. We may modify our plans to head to the dry southwest....
SouthEAST would be better. As in Biloxi again...:freaky2:
I got my washer and dryer! The guy at Aaron's came thru for me after all. He applied my payments from the previous w/d to this one and I only have to pay a little over $400 for the set. But I can make payments and my payments don't start till JUNE! Ain't God good!?
Now all I need is to find that job.
I've been horribly sick this week...went thru 4 FULL boxes of tissues in two days. I'm on my second round of Musinex and I'm _almost_ cleared up. So I didn't job hunt. Although, I got not one, but TWO calls from people who saw signs around town advertising that we need school bus drivers...they thought of me.
So I'm gonna call and see if they offer to pay for CDL classes and whatnot.
I'm seriously thinking about trying it. I almost did in Panama City, years ago, but then I moved here and dropped the idea. Now I'm re thinking it.
Good hours and pay, I can just sit and drive, and the KIDS...I love kids...
What say yall? Think it's a fit for me?
I used to go to church with a couple o' bus drivers. They were a hoot.
Not much going on here. Brandon's brake line exploded the other night so yesterday morning was spent repairing it in the Wal-Mart parking lot. I only have 2 more days left at Keva. I'm sad that spring break is about over but happy at the same time to get back to classes.
We've had gorgeous weather the last few days, but like Roscoe said, that rain is moving in for a while.

Sounds like a great fit Melbs!! Do it! I saw your w/d on Instagram yesterday and was like yay melbs!! lol
It's amazing how time changes us. Of course when I was younger, I hated chores and laundry...now it gives me great satisfaction to have the apartment clean and the laundry done. Especially when I don't have to haul all those loads to the laundromat. I love having my own!
haha I love grocery shopping, buying things for my place, I still love to just be in my own place, even 3 years after moving out.
Buying things for my home makes me excited. Yea being an adult is dumb. haha
The next person who demands that I justify my decision not to have children to their liking is getting throat punched.
That is all for today. I'm now going to read. In my home. Alone. Where I don't have to deal with idiots.
Yeah, what HeatherB said. You wouldn't believe the reasons people have come up with to explain why I'm not married with three kids by now. "Are you gay?" is just the start of it.
But I'm not taking your idiots. I have enough of my own to deal with.
Hey cloak-and-dagger lady, aka SippinTea, I didn't send that recipe after all. Sent a ball of starter, left the house without the recipe. I'll send you a PM.
When you get the ball of starter, make a batch of starter food and mash the ball up in it with a fork or tater masher or something. Let it sit in a warm place until it starts bubbling. It'll take more than half a day to start bubbling (or longer, depending on temperature.)
:hi:
Lou and Chey have spoken. We ARE going to Gatlinburg, bad weather or not. Now if I can just make it through Sunday,Monday, and Tuesday of next week I'll have several days off- and hopefully a start date on the new gig.
We fired up Rusty this morning and went to town. Had to get a new tire on him due to a busted belt in the driver's front tire, but we managed. Tonight, Chey and I are chillin' watching movies while Mama is at Gravel Ridge (Little Rock) for a ladies' conference tonight and tomorrow..
Hooray, hooray
For Lou and Chey
They saved the day
Planning's underway
To go away
To... Gatlinburg.
Oh well, most of it rhymed.
In sharing....
We signed a contract on a house. That's the biggest, most ginormous step we have taken since we moved here. It's one thing to step out on faith, but to walk by faith.... If anything, God has taught us we can't do anything on our own.
And hopefully I'll have internet once I get to the new place. Then I can stalk this place fo real...
After the shenanigans of Keva today, I'm so incredibly thankful that I only have 1 day in the *BLEEP* hole left. I got in trouble for playing Switchfoot on the music. It has 'religious' context and we don't want to offend anyone. However, drunk crazy man can play his japanese death metal that screams of slitting people's throats and that's ok?!?!?! Are you serious with me right now?!?!? Done. ::mic drop::
Well don't everyone post at once...
Glad you heeded my advice....
:ugly:
Well. I thought I had posted. Of course, nothing went on yesterday- it was a big fat day of do nothing, and I never got out of the house. Utterly nonproductive, other than yakking on the ham radio some.
Today I'm back at work. Hoping the new boss calls with an official start date Monday or Tuesday, so I can get my formal resignation letter in before I gallivant off on vacation Wednesday...
Here it is, 45 minutes until service starts. I wonder who will show up a hour late for church today?
Last Sunday being forced to work and last day at Keva!!!!! WOO-HOO!!! Plus I hadn't slept well in a few nights and I was OUT last night. Thank ya Jesus!
Roscoe, what are your vacation dates and what would be the best day to come meet you all? What day is Jason and Elona coming?
Post people, post!
It was a beautiful day here. Nice to see some sunshine after all the rain we've had.
Urgh. Back at work. Lord. Last night was rough, weatherwise, but I think we survived with no damage.
And Heather we plan to be in Gatlinburg Friday through Wednesday. I *think* the clown and her mate are coming down Sunday or Monday, but I can't remember for sure. Will try to post up when I find out..
If I can just make it through today and tomorrow...then blessed vacation....
It's almost here, it's almost here, it's almost here! Package tracking shows the Padfone X I ordered is almost here!
Yeah, so I'm a nerd. A phone that doubles as a tablet and (with a keyboard) even an ersatz laptop makes me happy.
:hi:
:ugly:
:-p.
And today the date came in. My last day will be April 7....
Excited. Apprehensive. Mixed emotions. My main boss made me cry by telling me that he was glad for me, but I "was irreplaceable. ". I have been humbled by the outpouring by legislators that have commented, texted and otherwise reached out after I posted about it on facebook. I didn't realize half of them knew who I was, much less thought that highly of me.
I bet now you're glad you bit your tongue all those times people got on your nerves and you wanted to say something. People WERE watching you after all.
First 10 hour day prepping batter and icing done. Lord my feet are tired. I haven't have a job where I stand for more than 6 hours in a long time. Sheesh.
My feet always used to hurt when I was on them all day... until I got zero-drop shoes. Now my feet don't hurt even after a 12 hour day. :D
Blah...ugh...agh!
I agree.
:stupid:
Coffee. Need more coffee. As I told a coworker who told me I should be on top of the world-" I am, but there's all these idiots up here with me. I should push one of them off."
Coffee has kept that from happening.
Heather, get a pair of Super Feet insoles. They make a world of difference. :)
Roscoe! I'm so excited for you!
Mr. Ted is a groucho again today. Crazy child. He's got such a happy disposition most of the time, but when he's grumpy MAN! is he ever Grumpy with a capital G. LOL Teething has not been kind to him. Or to his mommy. ;)
Miss B is being quite hilarious today. This morning at breakfast she informed me that "the princess still has a cough", meaning herself. I'm not sure what's up with talking about herself in third person, but it was very amusing. ;)
:beret:
We fly back into the USA tomorrow... And it sounds like traffic is going to be horrid with all the traffic detours and rerouting due to the floods...
At work. So bored. :noo:
It's so pretty outside today but we had to already turn on the air conditioner for a bit last night. It's too early in the year for that. :o
I have a very complicated situation involving a member of the church that everyone has blown off as 'that's just the way he is'. I just don't even know what to do about the situation and I'm not sure if I want to go into detail here. Let's just leave it at the 'stranger danger' feelings I have around him has been confirmed three times now and this last time was something he said to my husband. Why does crazy follow me?!?!?!?!?
I enjoyed a beautiful vacation day today. A friend and I fired up Rusty and cruised around 200 miles on a bbq run.
The place we ate at was decent, not top of the list like claimed, but okay..
An old truck, ribs, a good friend and a 70 degree sunny day. Hard to complain about that..

Shouldn't you be ''east bound and down loaded up and trukin''?
So last night I saw a short video clip of a Ferrari that burned rubber at launch, caught up to another car and then skidded out of control. The caption was, "Gotta get another whiff of that driver's M&M breath... mmmmmmm!"
Then I woke up.
Then I thought, "No, no, nononono NOOOOO! My subconscious mind is even more cheesy than the whole internet!"
What do you do when you dream in short cheesy gifs?
Rough afternoon yesterday.
Headed to the 2 day Men's Retreat held at BassPro, while the ladies retreat in the hotel ballroom. If the cease fire breaks we got them beat on munitions and artillery.

Same here. Until today - the temps dropped like 30 degrees, and it's rainy/icky.
It blew something in, cus I've sneezed my head off all morning.
Didn't make it to church last night. The anxiety of my current situation shut my body down. I slept around 12 hours last night. Work study today. My public speaking class then running group this evening.
Heater? What is that?
Seriously...even at the coldest, I think Mom and I turned the heater on twice. It never got cold enough. I've had the A/C on all winter. Or just OFF and nothing on. Too stuffy to turn on the heater. Mom was always cold, but she wore extra clothes and covered up. Now that I'm alone, I have the A/C on 69 all the time and I'm still hot. This summer is gonna be torture.

right. The temp dropped down to 55 after the rain came through.
:hi: Fixing to move out, as soon as Lou gets in. It's cooler here today too. I spent most of the day with Bro Wilson. Trying to download some decent music for the trip- decent as in not that horrid howling choir singing that Lou calls music. Come on Hinsons, ect... :freaky2:
We are gonna head east, probably find a place around 8:30 or so to stop at.
Looking forward to seeing Elona and Jason, who are coming Sunday, and anyone else who might come over or drop in....
And I'm suspending the diet in order to enjoy myself. Hopefully I won't add 10 lbs over the week....:sadbounce:
Going back thru training in a couple weeks will help you drop anything you may pick up on your vacation... Lol
Fortunately, it's more than a couple weeks away...July 31.
Hello, Weird Cat. We are waving from nearby Jackson. Made it through Memphis- I absolutely hate Memphis' traffic. Tomorrow we will head for Gatlinburg...And Domino is an amazing road dog. Zero sickness and less trouble than my human travel companions....

I cannot do Sunday or Monday. We don't have service until 230, Brandon is actually off work and we haven't really seen each other since this past Sunday night, and I have roughly a 15-17 hour day between class and work on Mondays.
I asked my fellow speech classmates if there was any way they would let me sign up near the end of the list for our speeches so I could go Thursday. By the time the list got to my side of the room, my choices were 1-4 or 6. I even offered to bring cupcakes. Jerks. So I bit the bullet and am going 1st on Tuesday. I may be slightly delirious and they can just deal with it.
Bobby: you should get a stereo for your car that accepts USB. Then you can grab up any old flash drive, load some songs on it and have a playlist for your trip. And if I recall correctly you have enough Hinsons, Hemphills and Rex Nelon Singers to last for the whole trip.
Just be careful... there's also some christian rap in that collection. Don't want you stepping on the music equivalent of a land mine. :D
Trying to find something to do this weekend that isn't just sitting in my apartment alone and stressing out about everything. So far nothing has panned out and the weather is keeping me from hiking. Just awesome.....
Made it to Gatlinburg. Beautiful place. The place we rented- not so much. Not real happy. We didn't get a creekside room, the one they reserved for us has fresh paint, but very dated. If I'd saw it in person, we'd not have stayed here. Oh well, we'll survive.
No!
I hadn't been on Facebook today. That's terrible. Thanks for letting us know. :(
Only good thing I can say is at least they went together.
