Well at least he cleans up his pooty.  He's always talking about shoveling it.

Bro. Bobby:  What kind of swap meet is this?  Cars in particular or general trading-post kind of swap meet?

Or have towed home... Sis. Lou must be dreading this.

Or you could tow that car there and get rid of it.  You know, the sports car that's always breaking down, that you keep complaining about, that you always decide to keep...

Hush yo' mouf, boy. Else I'll come up there and do something mean to ya. And FWIW, it don't need towed. Since we found the issue and fixed it, it is very reliable...

My cast is off! The doctor was surprised at how well I had healed in the time that my cast was on. Apparently it looked a lot better than he expected. I know that God must touched it because I was really worried that it wasn't going to be healed at all but God came through and it was healed. I am now wearing my carpal tunnel brace during the daytime when I'm out and about, but when I am at home he told me to take it off and try to use my wrist is much as possible, but carefully. He wants me to try to get my range of motion back before I go to work. I took my doctors note to work which said that I could work on next Monday, so she put me on the schedule for next Tuesday and Wednesday so far. I am so happy about that I finally get to go to work at my new job!

Which reminds me of a story that I may or may not have told here before.

A couple of months ago I was at church early one Sunday morning typing the bulletin.  The pastor walked past and he looked a bit tired.  He said they went out for mexican food at the place here in our town.  (For the record that is always a mistake - it is well known that the local mexican restaurant is not good.  Better to go to one in a town about 13 miles away.)  He said he ordered a beef burrito and got a burrito with a chopped-up hot dog in it.  He ate it, and he was up and down all night with Montezuma's revenge.  He said it might be a short sermon today...

I guess I can post this now, I think all the family has been told and none are on this board anyway......please pray for my pastor, Bro Wilson. His 87 year old dad passed away around 1:38 pm today. Although it was expected and is somewhat a relief, as strokes had taken a very active and viberant man and reduced him to a shell, it still isn't easy to lose one's father. Been nearly 5 years for me, and I still tear up thinking of my Daddy..... So, if you would, hold him and his family, especially his mother, up in prayer.

I hate stormy weather....we got up and went to the library, then grabbed a few groceries. On the way home, in Rusty of course, the bottom fell out of the sky. Lands, it was a monsoon. And lightening, and thunder- no ham radioing, and if it weren't for my library books, I'd go insane...

No, the electricity is not out....but fear of lightening hitting the radio equipment shuts the radio down and causes me to unhook everything. Seems that 45 feet of steel in the air has been known to invite lightening over for a visit, and I don't wish to have $2000 worth of radio equipment to literally go up in smoke.  :P
And I am NOT insane. Yet. A little eccentric, perhaps even disturbed by some definitions, but not insane. :pound:

Family is up from Texas, so that's a good excuse for some family get-togethers.  We had a big family breakfast with homemade buttermilk biscuits, sausage, scrambled eggs and cheese, white gravy.  For supper we're about to have buttermilk chicken, corn on the cob, some kind of beans (they haven't arrived yet) and cheesecake, and probably some other side dishes.

Wish y'all were here.

Turns out the beans last night were lima.  One of my favorite.  And there was lasagna too.  And some kind of pot roast soup, very good.

I may have mentioned this before, but I am so glad I'm in a family that likes to hang out together.  I hear in some families they dread family dinners.

I hate family dinners. Ours have been nearly nonexistant since Mama's dementia got so bad. Lou's family has them from time to time, and even though they reach out to make me comfortable, I feel like a long tailed cat in a room full of rockingchairs, and will bolt at the first available opportunity. :biglaugh:
And in other sharing, I regret my decision to come to work today. Had I taken just one more day of vacation, I could be sound asleep right now, listening to the rain. Instead, I am at work. Blah. :pound:

Linux rules!

At work today, two of the managers were supposed to watch some training videos.  Unfortunately the desktop computer in the break room for some reason would not play the videos, so Heather (one of the managers) tried her phone... no luck, so she tried her own Dell laptop, running Windows... nope, it wouldn't play the videos either.  At this point I happened to overhear her complaining about a technology fail, which always makes my ears prick up.  I happened to have a laptop with me, running Linux (Mint 16, Cinnamon interface) so I suggested they try it.  Heather logged in with her password, the main video menu came up (quote from Heather at this point, "If this works I am going to be extremely ticked!") she clicked on the first video, and it started playing.  (Quote from Heather, "Okay, I am now officially ticked!") So they watched all their training videos on my laptop.

Notice I did not say "Linux rules, Windows drools!"  Windows is still my go-to for music making.  It just works better for that.  But for some things, like most internet-based stuff, Linux just plain works better.   :great:

Went to work and did poop and some cards afterwards....  My sister ended up bringing dad to the ER after the home health nurse came to see him.  He had had pains in his chest or side yesterday and today.  So I went from cards to the ER and was there a long time.  They did Xray, CT, etc.  Sent him home with pain meds, but there is something on the lining of his lung they are sending him to a lung doctor to have biopsied.  So pray for that.

So there's this little guy I pick up on the church bus, named Robert.  This week he went to church youth camp.  He's a great guy, always friendly and outgoing.  I joke that if you have visited our church and you have NOT met Robert, it's not his fault... he's not avoiding you, guaranteed!  But he's never spent the night away from home before.  He's... well... not as smart as most kids.  So we were a bit concerned how he would handle being at youth camp, away from home, around a lot of strangers, without his parents, for days.

He came home today with "Camper of the year" award. :)  Like I said, he's a great little guy.

With a name like that, he was gaurenteed to be a success. And a people person. But probably not a morning person.

And Lawd, what a great day. Car show swap meet, found an artist that freehanded Rusty's Bulldog logo on his door for cheap so he's dressed right now, spent all day with my favorite uncle, and tormented the Mini-ster by text until my phone died, after charging which I found a text from another friend but cell service refused to allow a reply....
I've been running since 6 this morning, and I am charged and ready to go tomorrow. If I could get this enthused about work, it'd be dangerous to be around me.

I'm wore slap out. Spent a large portion of the day driving Rusty- to Conway, then the back way through a neighboring county to the mountain swap meet, spent 3 hours there, then back to Morrilton, and then a few miles north, where I tried to buy (with uncle's money) a '62 Chevy truck, unsuccessfully. Then finally back home. I could sleep for a year.
Tonight, Unc wants us to come to Conway, where he and his sister have rented motel rooms, and visit. I'd rather have my remaining teeth pulled without anesthesia I believe, but Chey want to swim...so I'll probably have to go. Much as I love my uncle- and aunt- I SO dislike get-to-gethers.

Isaac, I quite enjoyed dinner with them last August at the catfish place overlooking the Tennessee..I even thought I fit right in, at least as far as tag-teaming with your grandmother about a certain young man needing to find a wife..

Isaac (also) that is GREAT news about Robert the Younger!

Now, Robert the Elderly & Isaac; I may be in or near one of both of you guy's areas in a couple of weeks. I'm thinking of going to the Power of One singles conference over in Memphis the 26th-28th. I would likely be coming through Conway Thursday morning, maybe pretty early, as ZI would want to get to Memphis about 2 p.m. Thursday. not sure when I'd be back. Money's to tight to stay gone 10-12 days like I did last year.

Also, Robert the Elderly: How is the Princess?

Lady Sandra, How is Clarence?

Seth, is your father doing better?

Lady Heather, are things better for you?

Then there is the ever-present urge to chunk it and go somewhere and sleep three days where they don't know me from Vice President Biden (I'm younger and more conservative). I'm having difficulty doing my traditional 20-hour days :)

Dad is doing so so.  He has better days and worse days....as seems to come with getting old in general in part.

Hoping and praying the thing on his lung is nothing.  A hopeful thought in that, is that back when he was still working at IU, he had been checked out and they told him he had some kind of a spot on his lung back then, but it was nothing of concern.  I hope that this is just the same thing that showed up on his scan the other day.

Lady Sandra, please say hello to Clarence for me! I actually haven't been anywhere near y'all's area since a rather disastrous (to my ego :)   ) trip top Lufkin in January '13! :) I think it was March '12 when I last saw y'all.

Isaac, forget the shotgun, and pile on the catfish and BBQ. I'd like to go back down to Shiloh. One of the older park rangers there offered to make me copies of some 22ish pages they had on the path of Grierson's raid, and dummy that I am I declined the offer, and have been regretting it since!

Robert the Elderly, confess thy fondness for pink kitchens and Miatas!

Seth, I hope your father is well soon.

Shew, Lawd. the last few days have been, EPIC, to borrow a word from our obviously departed Mel....
Uncle Ron showed up Tuesday night and we immediately- like within ten minutes of his arrival- hit the mountain swap meet. The swap meet got bigger and better every day, right up until this morning. Although Uncle Ron didn't buy a vehicle this year, we bought other things and put nearly 400 miles on Rusty from Wednesday morning on.
Then Friday, tradition held true, and the brother I never wanted but am glad I have, aka Mini, showed up with his Mini-me... Cheyenne and the Mini-me had a grand time chasing and tormenting each other while Mini and I concentrated on cars and parts..then we wandered off the mountain and fell into the Butcher shop, where a chunk of my swap meet money was traded for some of the best steaks I've ever ate. Mini and I fired up the grill, and the fat tall bald guy showed me how to cook a steak....Man, they were awesome.
Then today, one more trip to the mountain, where we discovered that at 8 am, there were no parking spots...people parking over a mile away and walking to it...
I hated to see the weekend end. It was perfect. Perfect weather, perfect everything. Then Mini and Uncle Ron went to their homes, while I dug out the lawnmower and moved the church yard and one of the yards I mow for pay. And tomorrow, I have to go back to work. Bah.
And now if you've read this novel length article, you are somewhat up to date with Roscoe's world...

Worked all week. Shew doggie...I forgot how fat and out of shape I am till I have to staf on my feet all day. But it's getting better. I was so tired an had such a headache today that I've pretty much slept on and off all day.

My new job is good and easy, but BORING. We don't stay busy like we did at my old job and you can't sit down so you basically stand around all day waiting on something to do. It's not the kind of job I like cause it makes the time DRAGGG by. I'd rather be busy cause then you lose track of time and it's time to go home before you know it. Not here. I'm seeing every second. And it's tourture.

Anyways, everything else is ok.

I'm actually thinking about moving again. To GA. Not sure yet.

Isaac, the "22ish pages' refers to one of my visits out to Shiloh last summer. One of the senior-looking park rangers, on learning of my interest n  Grierson's Raid (A Civil War Northern raid through the South,) gave me sme tips and offered to make copies of some 2 pages of stuff they had related to the raid, might have been a description of ther day-by-day route they used.  declined the offer, and have sin ce wished UI had accepted.

Lands... tonight was awesome. Last weekend, when Mini and I went into McDonald's on the way back from the mountain, there was a older couple there that looked apostolic.  The longer we sat there, the more I felt like I needed to speak to the man. So, when we left, shy little me went over and introduced myself.
They were gospel singers,  Brother Kenny and Sis Donna Johnson, based out of a UPC church in Louisiana...the brother insisted on giving me a couple of cds. Offhandedly, he mentioned that he was free Wednesday night if I thought my pastor could use him. I thanked him for the cds and went home, nearly forgetting about it. But on the way home from mowing a yard Saturday, I felt I needed to drop a cd off for Bro Wilson. I did.
Long story shrt, Bro Wilson called and talked with them, and discovered they were friends with Bro John Proctor, who is a VERY good friend of Bro Wilson. They sang at our church tonight. My LAWD, Sis Johnson can flat tear it up, and Bro Johnson ain't half bad for a man that told me he thought my wife was my daughter. I spent most of the service in tears...SO glad I went over and talked to them...

Dad had that doctor's appointment yesterday and they set him up for a biopsy test on the spot on his lung.  Praying that is gone, or that it is nothing.  But now he's aggravated and wanting to cancel the test, and I wish he wouldn't just to verify, cause I'd hate to do nothing if it is something that needs something done to it.  *sigh*  Just praying that it's all good.  Would be awesome if upon the scan for the test that there is nothing there and they don't have to do anymore.....that would be ideal.  But a thousand what ifs run through my head all the time.  Just need the Lord to fix the whole matter on all ends.

Besides, how on earth you think a backwoods hillbilly like me could upload a video anyway. I count it fortunant when I can get online.  :P

Praying Seth.

And in sharing, I just got a phone call setting up an interview for the job I want badly, and will have an interview for Monday at 11 am. That shall surely tick off my boss... I WANT this job, but only if it's God's will. It sure does look perfect from my point of view though....

Well. I feel like a failure. Apparently THAT job wasn't God's will. Job was advertised as "Enforcement Agent". Job turned out to be "Criminal Investigator Enforcement Agent" which is a whole different ball of wax. Takes skills from the OTHER side of Law Enforcement, such as writing affadavits, search warrants, and the like, all of which I have done in a VERY limited quantity. It was apparent within the first minute of the interview that I was not the person they were looking for- my skill sets are more to the patrol/supervisory/ boots on the ground side, not the white collar investigate, write the paperwork, and bust the door down side.
If they call me, it will probably be the stupidest thing they could do. It'd be like taking a bird to do a fish's job- the bird could probably swim a bit, but certainately not to the level needed. Bah.

Hey Bro. Bobby, I keep seeing you on gmail's chat (probably a remnant of when we were trying to get your IMO working on your phone) but you never say anything.  If your data or battery seems to be draining faster than it should lately, that's probably why.  You might want to turn it off.  It didn't work on your phone anyway.

In local news I had a long night.  I wasn't lying awake all night, but I don't know if I can say I was sleeping.  I had a lot of really weird dreams, and I feel like I'm about three months older, because that's about how much subjective time passed in all those dreams.

An allegation of copyright infringement has been lodged against an Arkansas Capital Trooper by a former associate in a recording enterprise whose details have yet to be fully revealed. However, if either the "birds of a feather' or "pot calling the kettle" doctrines are invoked, the pool of potential suspects becomes more murky than a Mississippi Mud Pie.

Meanwhile, a potential elopement of Seth and Jenn apparently had a monkey wrench the size of King Kong throw into it when Seth bolted at the news the Fair Lady of Dallas was going to run off to the sunny tropics with him.

More details as they are made u.... err, become available.

I would just like to thank Jenn for the recommendation of Tye Tribbett's latest album months ago [and not even to me]. But I picked it up. Hadn't really listened to it. It's been playing in my work vehicle A LOT. If not for it, Jesus Culture's latest and Kim Walker-Smith's 'Still Believe' I'm pretty certain I would have killed someone in the past week.

I'm already at 20 hours and I have 3 more full days and half day to go. Thanks for the overtime pay AZ. I'll be doing it all again next week too. We are sooo short handed and now everyone is rotating vacation. [except me. i plan on taking a long weekend over fall break to go see family and friends in Baltimore].

Enjoyed a nice dinner with my lovely wife, then came home and did the budget....too much month at the end of the money, as usual, but at least we ain't at the point of having stuff carried off....
Then I did something I've been meaning to do for several years. Rusty's shiny diamond aluminum running boards have drove me insane, so I sprayed 'em with black rubberized bed liner. Looks MUCH better and more original now. If it holds up, I will be happy.

Spray-on bed liner... Would you believe I have sprayed that stuff on the soles of my shoes before?

Your line about too much month at the end of the money reminds me of a classified ad seen in the paper.  "Guy who gets paid on Tuesday and is usually broke by Friday, looking for a girl who gets paid on Friday and is usually broke by Tuesday."  Don't know if he ever found his girl, but it sounds like it could work.

Wowser. No one talking... :sadbounce:
My sharing for the day- received a call telling me that the job I had originally applied for had been posted and to put in for it, so I tried that- we'll see what God does....went to town and grocery shopped, went by and visited Mama, whose 70th birthday was today. Somehow, seeing her today  lying in that nursing home bed, not knowing anyone, plus everything else piled up on me today, and I spiraled into one of my bouts of depression that I sometimes struggle with. Spent the day wanting to cry, and finally gave up and called Kim, who went on a hour plus long ride with me in Rusty, and talked me through it.
I feel really sorry for someone who struggles with depression daily and doesn't have God or friends to help them through it. I manage to keep my bouts relatively hidden and simply pull back to myself most often, and thankfully they are infrequent.
And now that I've bared my soul, someone else needs to post. :P

I can't seem to enjoy anything about life.  There's always a dark cloud of gloom over it all for me.  Everybody getting old and sick.  Too much to do.  I don't even enjoy the things that I do like, too many troubles with them.  I enjoy being asleep and unconscious where I don't have to think about anything.

Children's Revival last night, tonight and tomorrow morning.  More adults than kids there last night, but it was a good service.  Grandma went, and said she's going again tonight.

Bro. Robert, the little blond haired boy I mentioned before (the Camper Of The Year :D ) read a bible verse last night.  He was so nervous about it, but he did well.

I find that I have to make myself have a positive outlook....sometimes it's harder than others, but I am determined to enjoy life to the best of my ability. I also think some of the depression we deal with is a chemical imbalance. Doesn't mean I think everyone should be zoned out on pills, but in some cases, I think it's a medical condition.
I had to cut contact with some people too.....not completely, not in a bad way, but just politely distance myself. I found when I was around people who are always negative, I too became negative- and depressed.
Even with everything I am doing to be positive and upbeat, I still have problems in crowds. More than a handful of people really bothers me, although I try to hide it. So I understand where you are, Cheesehead.  :P

Apparently, I have been fairly successful at hiding my issues. I've had a couple of friends who I've told of my difficulties tell me they had no clue. In 2010, when I was at the point of doing something REALLY stupid, most of my closest companions had no idea everything wasn't perfect. After I preached a message recently and spoke of how God delivered me, some of the folks listening came up after service and told me they had had NO clue I was anything but on top of the world happy at that time. And these are people that have literally known me all my life.

I  can't give advice or even say I know how you feel because I'm usually fairly happy.  Fairly quiet in a crowd, but fairly happy.  Or at least content.

You're right Bro. Bobby about who you hang around with, or more broadly what influences you choose.  I hung out in a chatroom of people who use the same digital audio workstation I use (yeah, it's that popular, it needs its own help-chat) and I found myself getting the attitude most of them had, which was rather worldly.  I once spent some time watching some youtube videos of a cartoon character named Foamy (if you don't know, don't bother looking it up) who was a wise-cracking, smart alec character, and I noticed I was getting cynical and more smart-alec myself.  I feel much better when I hang around christians.

That's why I had to have music playing at all times where I used to work.  Too many complainers, downers and just plain grumps there.  I needed positive music to screen out, or at least mitigate their general grumpiness. My current coworkers are mostly more upbeat. :)

I can't believe you question my intentions.  :hypocrite:

And in sharing, I heard an extremely loud scream from the back yard this evening. I ran to investigate, and discovered Chey had been stung by an angry red wasp that had apparently commandeered her swingset. It got her just under the right jaw, on the neck. I, of course, freaked out thinking the worse- I could just see her going into anaphlatic shock- but scooped her up and done what my mama had always done. Prayed, then an ice cube wrapped in a rag for the swelling, alternated with a piece of raw potato and a piece of onion to draw the poison and pain out. Then, after reading online that a dose of benadryl (antihistamine) was useful, I gave her a dose of that.
Now I'll be up several times through the night, checking on her because I inheirated Mama's worrying gene when it comes to my kiddo.  :sadbounce:

Red wasps.  Ugh.  Red ones sting without provocation.  Red wasps also find their way into my bedroom all through the spring, summer and fall.  Sometimes three in one day.

Well. I slept better than I thought- Chey was showing no ill effects within a couple of hours, and Lou slept with her in the guest room just to keep an eye on her. they were snoozing with no issues when I left. :smirk:
Tonight on the way home, I'll stop and pick up some wasp spray, and we'll show that hussy of a wasp what it means to be figuratively set on fire. Teach it to sting MY little one...... And I'm back at work, where we are in a called "short session" for the next three days, so these idiots can patch problems by our public school system regarding teacher's insurance. Their "fix" is to jack the rest of the state employees ' insurance rates, including mine, by 7%, among other things. The fat crooks....

Three statements, all directed at Bobby:

Takes them three days to decide to do what they already know they are going to do?

If you go to McDonald's, ask them for a Dr. Pepper with six shots of cream in it (for a medium size drink cup.)  If you want it really foamy ask them to put the cream in first.  If you don't want any foam ask them to put the cream in last.  McD's uses REAL CREAM in their coffee, and if you put it in Dr. Pepper it tastes almost exactly like a root beer float.  I mention this to you because you are a Dr. Pepper addict.

What do you guard when the state senate is not in session?  Does the job get really boring or are they always up to something there?

3 days cause it's state law they HAVE to be in session that long. I'll have to try the Dr Pepper thing....and there is always something to guard. Different committees meet year round and the constitutional offices are all here too. And yes it is boring.

Anyone who doesn't like Dr Pepper HAS to be a communist. Or worse. That is a gift from God....And one of the best drinks I have ever had was a Sonic drive in special- Dr Pepper with real cherry and a shot of their vanilla shake mix which they called "Real Cream". It's a fat boy's crack cocaine.......
And Mini and Mel both tried it and got hooked too. :fork:
I came in tonight, killed the wasp that stung my darlin', pinched the ever-livin' loo outta my hand while removing one ham antenna and mounting another, then came inside to relax. Now, if I can get through the next three days...weekend again!

Then you're bound to like McDonald's cream in dr. pepper.  Sorry, no cherry flavor.

And I should mention that you don't want to try cream in any of the other soft drinks.  It curdles.  Something about acid in the flavorings for sprite, coke, etc. It only works with dr. pepper.  It would work with root beer as well, but McD's doesn't serve that.

Yes. The Sonic DP mixture is awesome...I wish I had a Sonic nearby...that's one thing I miss. Our nearest sonic is on the North side of town where I don't get to very often. So since moving here I have been a total of one (1) time. Blah.

In other random news, I live less than a half mile from a Starbucks, but yet I have never been since moving here...given my Starbucks reputation, that's a shock I know. But being as broke as I have been for as long as I have, I cannot justify spending money there. Maybe one day I'll be as wealthy and care free as I used to be and I'll frequent there once again.

Went fishing today. Caught nothing.

That is all.

Ugh.  Weird dreams last night, nothing but weird dreams.  They were so weird I realized they couldn't be real, so I had fun with them.

One of them, we were at church.  There was some visiting minister preaching, a woman, but she was dressed very inappropriately.  Then a water pipe burst over the stage.  Then the kids choir started singing, but while they were singing a swarm of bees or wasps or something started flying in from a corner of the ceiling.  At that point I turned to our section presbyter, who was in the pew behind me and said, "This has to be a dream." I listed all the things wrong with this picture, then I said "This is either a nightmare or at least a really strange dream." Then I wandered off to get a close look at the flying insects to see what they were.  Hey it's only a dream, what's the worst they could do to me?

Er... If my memory of my trip over there is still reliable, she was rather quiet.  Except for when it came to playing the piano, which she does well, and she knows some Hinsons songs!  But for the most part, the talkative one was rather shorter, wider and with a deeper voice. Did cleaning and cards today.  Came home and went to church.  And came home.

The home health nurse wanted dad to go to the hospital to get his leg checked for a blood clot, as it's been swelling of late.  So my sister takes them to the ER, and by that time, the ultrasound people have gone home, so he has to go back tomorrow.  What?!  The biggest hospital in the region outside of Indianapolis and they cannot do an ultrasound.  How pitiful is that?

Anyways...blah.

The doctor told my grandma the other day that she has breast cancer....though there were no tests performed beside a physical exam.  Which seems a bit odd to be able to just outright say that it is...  She's worried about it.  And going to have a blood test or something.  She didn't want to have a biopsy or something.  She's almost 99 years old.

So, I'm cursing whatever spot she has, as well still as whatever dad had on his lung, in Jesus name.  That's all I can do.  And for that matter with faith, it's the most one can do, and the best....

I just keep telling whatever was there to die.  So hopefully it's dead and can't even hear me anymore by now. lol

Got up, loaded the lawn mower and headed to town to mow the church yard because it was looking hideious. Got there after spending $20 for gas for the mower and truck to get there, and discover that someone else had mowed it this morning. No whining or complaining here, but I kinda wish they'd have texted me...
Came home and replaced the shingles the storm blew off, mowed the yard and began trimming trees. Now I have a ton of branches down to load up and I'm too tired to mess with them. :smirk: Chey's at the next door neighbor's swimming....

The only other thing of moment here is I'm putting a different computer in the sound booth at church.  The sound man has learned not to get too accustomed to any given computer, because I may swap it out in three years or maybe next week.  But as long as it turns on and off when he hits the power button, and as long as Audacity brings up the Export menu when he hits S, he's happy with it.  I'm gonna run Linux Mint KDE for a while, see how it does in a production environment.  Might even install ElectricSheep screensaver for the WOW factor. :D

Second the motion about lack of enthusiasm for camping as well, but I've already expressed my opinion about that particular activity.

Did you really only preach 20 minutes? If so, I'd of shouted, regardless of the message.

Since we've gone to one service now on Sunday's (due to new building/sharing old building, no new sanctuary yet long story), it seems as though our Sunday's d r a a a a g g g on. Pastor preaches an hour and twenty sometimes....lawd. Yesterday Senior Pastor preached and he still preached 45 minutes.

It's not by choice. We have to. We don't own the building anymore. But it's the only sanctuary we have.
We had to sell the old building before we could build the sanctuary onto the new building we do own now.

The new building we have - the people who sold it to us, currently have until July like 20th or something to still be in it. Then they have to move out. They're moving their company to Florida or something. But once they're out....we can start construction on the new sanctuary. The new building we bought  has all the classroom/office space we DESPERATELY needed, but no sanctuary. So we're adding that. But it's gonna take 8-12 months supposedly for the new sanctuary to be ready.

So until then - we're stuck sharing our old building with the new church who bought it.
They get it Sunday mornings, and we can't be in until 1pm on Sunday afternoons.

You're all full of the devil on the dislike of cottage cheese.  Cottage cheese is a staple food...though it has to be done correctly....

I do not like cottage cheese with fruit.  That's just not right.

And, I do not like cottage cheese by itself.

But with meats and vegetables in a regular meal, it brings in a cold element to go with the hot food and is appropriate and needful.  lol

I agree!!! I just wasn't here in time to say my piece.

I love cottage cheese...BUT, I also like it with fruit, or tomatoes, or by itself. I'm not sure if I would like it the way Seth eats it, as a side to everything, but I might.

Anyway...shoot, now I wanna go get some cottage cheese. I know we have some in there too, but I've eaten my limit for tonight...I'll have to wait till tomorrow.

Since I'm at Winn-Dixie now and the make us take a 30min meal break, I am finding it is cheaper to bring something to eat...problem is, I don't know what I want before I leave and sometimes I don't want what I pack when it becomes time to eat. :-/

I used to having jobs where the bosses don't really care and we didn't get breaks. Especially 30 minutes! That's a long time! So it's weird to me to adjust to that.

I'd kinda rather not get a break sometimes though, cause if I work straight through, it keeps me from eating, and when I take a break, I am usually tired-er after, and it's hard to finish the day. I need a nap. lol

If what he said is correct- I couldn't afford it if I liquidated EVERYTHING I own and added the next 5 years' wages..maybe the next 10 years' wages.....He claimed it was Carroll Shelby's personal ride and the LAST one that was built before Shelby died.  If he has documentation proving that, it's a million dollar car, literally. If not now, it will be within ten years. I'd still drive the wheels off of it.  :P

I don't really either.

I crashed again without finishing anything....ugh.

Tonight upon leaving church...or last night or whatever you want to call it....just down the road from the church, there was a car around the curve, it wasn't dark yet, just getting dark, and I could see the headlights on the left side of the road....  As I approached, it pulled diagonally across the road onto the right side of the road, blocking most of the road, and just sat there...  I waited a moment for it to move, and then squeezed around it on the left side, having to go off the road a bit to do so.  There was somebody else from church behind us and they waited a moment and the weirdo didn't move, and they went around too.  I don't know what their deal was.

At the time I just thought, "Hey, moron, get out of the road!"  But then afterward it's like...  Was the person having some sort of medical spell, did they become incapacitated?  Or were they up to no good trying to stop us to hold us up or something?

So I drove back over there after I dropped grandma off to see if they were gone or still lurking somewhere.  Didn't see any sign of them...car wasn't in the road.  Nothing was at the church.

Don't know what kind of fruit loop it was.

If the intent was to stop you, one would think they would do a better job of blocking the road.  But I can't personally come up with any better explanation.

I dunno who Carroll Shelby even is.
He's a legend for car nuts. Put a V8 engine  (Ford) into a lightweight car (AC- an English sports car originally equipped with a 4 cylinder) and called it the Cobra. He then went racing and whupped up on all the big dogs. Wound up working a deal with AC Motorcars and Ford and began manufacturing Cobras, with ever increasing sized engines. His cars were all hand built, there was very few made, and they are insanely priced to acquire one of the originals. Like million dollar Cobras are the norm. They are loud, crude, no comfort, and can probably be bested from a performance standpoint by most any v8 sports car from today. I'd still kill to have one.
Oh, and Shelby can also be known from his little chili venture he went into in his later years...

And in sharing, I am up and about. Getting everything together for Chey's camping trip...

Not really. Same guy, Ford jumped on the band wagon when they saw a good thing and built Shelby Mustangs in conjunction with Carroll. The original Cobra was a two seat roadster- I'd post pics, but the library computer won't let me. Google "Shelby cobra pic" and you'll see....usually blue with white stripes.

Carroll Shelby raced one of his first races (in a borrowed Jaguar I think) at the airport I managed.

Quote1952

A sports car meet at Norman, Oklahoma became organized racing when three pylons were put out in a gravel lot, marking the course. Bill Houk attended the Norman race with his MG Special and was pictured in Road and Track magazine. Wichita's Wayne Hinthorne and Leo Wilgen went to the race in MG-TD's. Major Sonny Beal went in his XK-120 Jaguar, Colonel Bob Kuhn in a Fiat-Abarth, and Jack Stamp went in his XK-120. Conditions at the race were terrible. A Texan, Carroll Shelby, wins the race on his first attempt at road racing. Elton Rowley is now selling sports cars from his home as a sideline under the name, Import Motors. Jaguar and Porshe are added to the MG franchise. In August, racing moves to the airport at Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Carroll Shelby borrows Jack Stamps XK-120 and wins the first Okmulgee race.

I has worked myself into a sweat the likes of which I can't stand myself. Been pulling ivy off of the house wall- if a farmers' crop grew as fast as that mess, there'd not be a hungry person in the world. Then Lou made me go to Walmart, where I offended half the town with my odor, just because she needed a bell pepper for her chicken fajitas. Normally, I have bell pepper plants this time of year producing like the dickens...but this year, I planted not a single producing plant. The only plant I have planted this year was transplanting an old teacup rose I have coveted from an old abandonded homeplace to my house- and it is doing fine.

Howdy, Mel. How goes it?

Going good. Working extra hours this week...I'm on a 7-day stretch right now...my last day off was Saturday, and my next day off is this coming Sunday...

Tired, but good. Working 8-2 today so I'll get a nap before church tonight, hopefully. Gotta teach Children's church.

I thought of that whilst I ate it.

I found out quite by accident that if you leave a pack of swiss rolls in the car in the hot sun the cream inside melts and soaks into the chocolate cake roll, then when you cool them off in the fridge they are very good.  Dunno if Little Debbie would approve but I'm gonna try that again.

Well. We are back. Chey and I took advantage of the beautiful weather and hightailed it to Mountain View last night, where we camped next to the beautiful Sylamore Creek. The water, which looked a deep greenish blue in the pictures was actually so clear you could see the fish swimming several feet below the surface. We got there around 2 pm, and spent the next 2 to 3 hours in the creek, which was pretty cool...
Then we cooked up "Cowboy beans"- two cans of baked beans, a can of chili beans, bbq sauce, chopped onion, garlic, and about 2 lbs of drained hamburger meat- for dinner. It was delish. Surprisingly, not a single mosquito was seen....but I really regretted not having an air mattress. That hard ground was rough on me.
There was absolutly zero phone service at the campground. All the pics and messages uploaded and sent were done while we were in town. And Rusty was a conversation starter with nearly every other camper there, with them coming over to take pictures or just talk about old cars....
I'd planned on spending today there, but Lou was leaving this morning at 8:30 and Chey REALLY wanted to give Mommy goodbye kisses, so we got up and broke camp around 6:30, and drove the 100+ miles back home to catch her- barely- to tell her bye for the week. Now- I wonder what we will do the rest of the week. LOL

I am upset.

A few weeks ago I bought a container, with sections, and a microwave vent thing in the lid for the SOLE PURPOSE of bringing leftovers to work with me for my lunch. Working in a grocery store is great, but I cannot afford to spend money and buy my lunch everyday. So anyway, we are not allowed to keep personal food and drinks in the deli fridge. For sanitary reasons...so we have to keep it in the dairy cooler with the prepackaged sealed food. I have placed my stuff in there several times along with all the other lunch boxes and plates and drinks...

Today, I had some leftover chicken and rice and some beans, and green beans. I go on break and I can't find my food. In fact all of the lunches are gone. I don't see any personal food at all. They took my stuff.

And I am more mad about my container than I am my lunch. I paid nearly $8 for that plate! I want my plate!

Bah. Drove a 70 year old vehicle 200 miles in two days- zero issues. Tried- the operative word here,"tried"- to drive the  stinkin' Lincoln 20 miles to Russellville to grab a burger before church. Of course the stupid altenator that I replaced four months ago went out. And since it was an ebay special, albiet a new one, there is no warranty. And it cost me $90 at friends pricing to get the stupid thing towed home. And I spent church time sitting in a parking lot 20 miles away, waiting on the tow truck.
Sigh. I THOUGHT we were gaining ground for a minute there. Obviously an illusion. :sadbounce: I do believe the Lincoln is gonna find a new home. If I'm gonna work on something constantly and sink money into it, it might as well be something that suits me- like a 'vette.

Lincolns are built for comfort, Bobby.  They are also built for moderately rich people who can afford to replace parts.  Get something cheaper and more fun to drive.

My Ford Windstar has held up fairly well over the years.  Coming up on 200,000 miles.  Last thing that went wrong was the battery died.  Before that... uh... well... Nothing before that except getting new plugs and wires. It was over 16,000 and still running on the factory-installed spark plug wires.  Not bad.

My Chevy Lumina before that was fairly good too.  Paid a flat thousand for it, drove it 7 years.  Finally ditched it when the timing belt broke and stuffed itself in a few of the cam heads. No complaints, I got my 1,000 out of it.

Tesla- no. Especially since I'm not fond of my car burning unexplained. Toyota- meh. Good cars, but boring. You get good cars and bad cars in all makes. A friend once told me, "Don't buy Dodges. They're trouble. Also avoid 4x4s.." I bought a Dodge Dakota 4x4 the next month. Drove it for 5 years with zero issues.
The Miata was probably my most trouble free recent vehicle. The Lincoln just annoys me because I researched it, having never owned a Lincoln before. Same powertrain as a Crown Vic Police Interceptor, and ours at work took beatings that would've put an ordinairy car in a wrecking yard- daily. Everything I read said to expect 3 to 400 thousand miles out of them with very little trouble...so I bought one that appeared to have been taken care of, and first it was a battery/altenator- ok wear item. Then the intake- known issues, just my turn, didn't like it but I'll deal with it. But the second altenator just ticks me off, especially since I replaced it with a OEM Ford part.
Oh well. Got the stupid altenator off. Fixing to go to town and replace it...

Hope ya have a great time, Jenn!

And in sharing- bad news was, the altenator was dead and the salvage yard did not have one. Good news is, the seller of the one I ebay'd a few months ago is a straight up guy with connections in Ford parts, and even though he didn't have a replacement, he offered to file a warranty claim with Ford and give me the refund credit they issue if I'd send the altenator back.  Meanwhile, I bought another which should be here in a few days....Lord, what a hassle but it is turning out better than I thought it would.
And tomorrow night, Chey is staying with Grandma, because Grandma wants to have her over to play with her cousins. A friday night, with Chey gone and Lou outta town.....in a former life, that woulda called for a Harley trip. Sadly- no harley, and no money, and now no comfy car means- I'll sit in my comfy recliner. Alone. Except for the dog, of course. What an exciting life I have. Just exactly when did old age run up behind me and clobber me?!? :pound:

:pound: all of ya. That was what is known as a rhetorical question. Your input was NOT needed, or, truthfully, desired. :pound:

And Isaac- Harley = 50+ mpg, therefore I could afford the cruise. While Rusty indeed gets good mpg for a pickup-25-29 mpg- that still would be a costly trip. And since the Lincoln has ate up available cash, I probably will not be going anywhere. Although I will admit to considering a puttering west about 2 hours to acquire some tomatoes.....:ugly:

Now THAT was funny!  :highfive:

In local news our church homecoming is next Sunday.  Anyone and everyone invited, including some wingnuts from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and wherever else, should any of said wingnuts be in the neighborhood.

In preparation for the impending homecoming we had the church carpet professionally cleaned.  In preparation for the cleaning we decompiled the whole sanctuary stage, including all the wires, cables, mics, stands, etc.  So before church Wednesday I'll have to put all the audio back together.  Fortunately I jotted down a list of what goes to which port, so THIS time I won't have run back to the sound booth and look on the back of the soundboard to see which channel which mic goes to.  Should save a lot of wear and tear on my toe shoes.

That'll cost me untold amounts, if I don't find a bypass.....:sadbounce: And I still don't have anything for tomorrow night, unless I teach the remaining bit I have on prayer.....
Lord, I don't mean to complain, but it'd be nice for something to go right this month. Anything.

I've heard of a car's security system "forgetting" the key.  Bummer.  In the words of a certain chief engineer of a certain starship, "The more they overhaul the plumbing, the easier it is to clog up the drains."

Well I got my schedule yesterday and I'll have to say I was quite upset. 16 hours. 16 measly hours. I told my supervisor that I simply could not deal with such a short check. I need money. I'm trying to save and I NEED hours! So I told her to CALL ME if ANY HOURS came up and I would work. ANYTHING. So she said that before I leave for the day she will try to work something out. She did. She asked me to work today, (originally off) from 7a to 3:30p. So I did, only my relief was LATE and I didn't clock out till after 4:15. Yay! Then today, she said I could come in tomorrow for the same shift! Yay!

Moral of the story, I've now ended up with more hours than I would have on a regular week. I'm gonna be TIRED. But I need the money saved. I'm off Saturday, then right back at it Sunday afternoon and Monday and Tuesday.

My family is going to Panama City next weekend and I wanted to go, so when she asked me to work today, I asked her if I could have next Saturday and Sunday off together so I could go with them. And she said that she would. We shall see.

In other news, tomorrow, Aaron and I are going to a concert.

Wait for it....

Wait for it....

Wait...

.......

The Mckameys! Lol

Believe it or not, for an 18 year old boy, Aaron LOVES old songs from the book, southern gospel groups and he's not a contemporary or modern music fan. He is so excited about tomorrow night, and while that type of music isn't my favorite, it's something I grew up listening to, so I can enjoy it too.

That's my news.

I guess that is all.

Well...I am back. Went by the Ford place and got the unwelcome bit of news that, in addition to the cost of towing the Lincoln there, it will cost $105 just for them to test the car to determine what is wrong with it.....then it may be a few more hundred dollars to fix. This, and school tuition just around the corner. :pound: It will be my last Ford  product, I am relatively sure. I am half a step away from fixing it, and trading it, the Canyon, and the Corvette in for a healthy downpayment on a nearly new Camaro that one of my dealer friends has for sale. While it probably wouldn't raise our payment, it'd add another 4 years to them, and I really don't need that......besides, I really need a truck, but if I traded for a truck, I couldn't afford the gas to drive it 120 miles a day....:sadbounce:

McKameys!  Love that group.  You'll find some in that music collection I sent.  Also McKeithens, McGruders, Holleys and Hoppers, they all have about the same general sound. :)

I'll probably wind up scraping the cash together and getting the Lincoln running, then drive it until it dies again. And in sharing- 'twas a good day. Drove to Conway and met with my friend who wanted the lake pipes, then drove a few miles up the road and helped an elderly ham friend by climbing into his 140 degree attic and running coax cable for him. Then I enjoyed a pleasant backroads cruise home in Rusty, stopping to buy supplies for Chey's birthday party, as well as her gift. That took the money I earned from parting with the lake pipes, and then some. :sadbounce: Oh well. I'm used to being broke....

Hey, John.

Had a good time at the concert last night. Then we went to steak and shake for some eats. I was off today, so I (gasp!) turned off my phone last night and slept clear till 11:30 this morning! SWEET! Then I did laundry, took a shower, ran up to publix to get my snacks for SS tomorrow, then came home and took a two hour nap. Donna woke me for dinner, and we've sat around all evening/night watching videos on YouTube.

It's been a great day of NOTHING. I'm feeling refreshed. Now it's time to get in my clean PJs, and snuggle down in my freshly washed sheets and sleep.

*happy sigh*

I really needed a day like today! ;)

Would request a bit of prayer- Lou was called into the office today unexpectedly and interveiwed for a promotion. She was told that she is in the top 3 candidates for the position and she didn't even know it was open.... They told her after the interview that she had done a superb interview, possibly the best they've had. This would possibly be a $3 an hour raise....and you can imagine what THAT would do for us....

It's raining so the hot air balloons didn't get to race this morning.  I hope it's clear tomorrow morning.  I don't care if it rains during the day, I just want it clear until the balloons get to fly over town.

Speaking of rain, I'm sleepy.

They gotta check and see if you're healthy enough to run down a donut if you drop it and it rolls under your desk.

My doctor evidently converted to Pentecost when he saw me. Went to speaking in tongues- "P90X, Nsanity, exercise, blah, blah, tipping point, blah blah....." Apparently completely unimpressed that my blood pressure was, I think, 120/90- nigh well perfect. No, he focuses on his lying, two bit scales, and all the lies they tell him.

Anyhow- general thought after he finished his sermon on the benefits of running when nothing is behind you, he conceded that I am in good physical health- "Right now". :pound:
So, I went right out, ate a donut, and am in the process of baking a raspberry cheesecake to go with the pork chops I am marinating. :P

Had the Lincoln towed to the Stealership for repairs, and found out that once more, Walmart passed Lou over, unblemished work history and ten years of service notwithstanding, and gave the promotion to a 4 year employee with NO management history. This is somewhere around the 5th time they've done her this way. I keep trying to focus on it being God's will, but I'm beginning to wonder if it is because she is Pentecostal- she is the only pentecostal lady working there. Her immediate supervisor, who strangely enough gets along with her, is Wiccan..
Beginning to wonder if we might need to speak with legal counsel. I don't want to, don't like it, but it's not fair for someone to be a dedicated employee with ZERO issues, good evaluations, and still get treated like the stuff on the bottom of Cheese's boots after a wet walk to the birdyard...

Now that response to a physical check up, that I can go for.
About the wiccan, we had a wiccan quality control where I used to work. Surprisingly we got along together rather well. The only way I found out she was, was when I mention Jesus, and she balled up in a knot.

Thanks for the 'grats' ya'll!

Now for a downer... lol both my credit and debit cards somehow got copied and were used fraudulently.... Now for the slow-ish process of getting my money back (less than 240 was taken, so not too bad on that) however there is the long wait for getting new cards with new numbers.... :clap2:

I'm over it... it is help me fast LOL jkjk

If it stays like it is now, I think they should have the balloon glow.  I haven't heard.

Another gal thought they won't put the balloons up if it's even sprinkling. So I don't know.

Well. It was a good day, other than a minor computer scare... Got up having to do absolutely nothing, lazed around a bit, then went to town and had lunch with a couple of ham radio friends.
Then I came home and talked with a friend in Dyersburg ,Tennesee and one in Kansas for a bit, during the midst of which my computer scared me silly. It just blacked out and shut off, and wouldn't power up. Not a light on. I just knew it was history. Then on the way to dinner with the pastor- an absolute delight as usual- I googled the problem with the smartphone and found out the reset procedure. It worked! I am pleased....thank God for Google.

Yum. Sounds delish. I did a bit more, cleaning out the pole barn. Fired up the Studebaker for a few minutes, cleaned out the pole barn a bit- still much to do- and went on a putter around in Rusty. Fixing to go take a loooong hot bath while Mama and Chey aren't home. Thataway I won't get interrupted. :P

:laughhard: Stude's in the same boat as Rusty. Won't be sold. Ever. Will be driven, probably quite a bit in the coming year.

And I'm back at work. Lord, it is hard to return to work after 3 days off....

Speaking of reasons for making a trip... if any of y'all happen to be coming through west TN on August 29th, 30th and/or 31st (Friday, Saturday and the last Sunday of the month) we're having revival.  Friday and Saturday at 7pm, Sunday at 9:30am, lunch after Sunday morning service, no Sunday night service.
