I have every reason to be cheerful. I have successfully fixed the Lincoln and Rusty, and it is my day off. In addition, I have some fresh cut pork chops marinating in a garlic herb marinade to go with the smashed tators and pineapple upside down cake I am making tonight.

:sing: And I know the feeling :sing:
This week my sinuses have kept me from sleeping as much as I would like.  Friday night they were finally quiet for a change, and I slept like a brick.

What?  How does a brick sleep?  Well... do you ever see it moving?

Went and got the dog from the hospital this afternoon.  Poor thing.  She's improved, but still feels rough.

That's the only thing I got done.  I'm sick of running constantly and not having any time to accomplish anything.  :tearhair:

As the Bible itself says, my brethren, these things ought not so to be!

Wait... without your medicine soda you'll be abnormally susceptible to pestering.   Bwahahaha!

Survived the day. Killed not a single person. Drank not a single sip of Dr. Pepper.
And there's not any here at the house, so unless I manufacture an excuse to run to the store, I shall be without. Ah, but tomorrow......
Currently making a Chicken dish Lou found a recipe for on Facebook. We shall see how it turns out.

Yeah right.  They'll just keep using XP until they get the latest virus (that gets them because their systems are no longer updated) then they'll come crying to us nerds to fix their computers.

Sorry, that might sound a bit harsh... but I've already had multiple friends who got the popup notice from Microsoft about XP's end-of-life, asked my advice, then promptly ignored what I told them.

You don't need a new computer, just a new operating system... And that's only if you're running XP. In fact you don't necessarily have to have anything besides xp. It will keep running after the support is over.

as for Linux support, it depends which kind you get. The user friendly ones like Linux Mint and Ubuntu have a lot of support. Multiple chat rooms for live support, or you can google up just about any problem you might have. You probably won't have many problems with the user friendly ones though, because they are designed to pretty much run themselves.

We would do it if we had an ounce of understanding how. Someone built our computer and I am thinking because of hardware issues, we just need to get a new one.  Changing a whole system is overwhelming.  I can understand why people don't do it.

This is why people buy Apple products. No changing systems. No issues with hardware (or rarely).
No issues with understanding. Easy peasy. My first Macbook lasted me almost 8 years. The hard drive had to be replaced once, only because of my overwhelming amount of graphic files I had built up. Now I have an external hard drive to counteract that. And the second Macbook is going smoothly. I still have the first one, and it still works. It's just a smidge slow, from again, the overwhelming amount of graphic and design files.

I've abandoned all Apple products except my iPod and only because it is a beast and keeps on going. Plus it's got a mass quantity of storage on it.

Life has been weird. I have just not been a nice person lately. I'm constantly in a foul mood. I'm exhausted. I'm about to pull a knife on Brandon. What little bit of time we have together he is always hovering right over my shoulder. It's just really getting to me.

We have revival/anniversary services this Wednesday through Sunday. I can't remember when they are preaching but we have Bro Rodeheaver from PA, Bro Greg Hurley from WV, and Bro Marshall [who is a Sioux] coming to preach. The only time I have to miss is Saturday due to work.

For many people mac is a good way to go. If all you're doing is getting online and checking your email, Facebook, maybe watching a YouTube video, (and of course if you have the money for it,) it is one of the more dependable options.

Or if you're doing any sort of graphic work. I don't recommend any type of heavy graphic work on an average pc. They can't handle it.

Define "average."  The belief that mac is better for graphics work is outdated, and has been for some time now.  These days you can get any used Thinkpad with 4 gigs ram for less than $200 on ebay and it can handle anything you can throw at it.

I can personally attest to the fact that the "linux fanboys" row is accurate.  I've known some of them.

Personally I use Linux and Windows, and would use Mac for the things it is best for if they weren't so stinkin' expensive.

Bah. A pox on all you computer people. I barely navigate to here....
And in sharing- it's been a Loooooooong day. The auction was interesting...one older guy spent over a quarter of a million dollars in the first hour of the auction. I quit counting his purchases at that point, but he was consistantly buying  properties from 10k to 80k all day long, right up until I left at 3pm. The dear old soul must've had a  cubic yard of hundred dollar bills on him. I sure would've liked to make friends with him. :-\
Then I get home and discover that the windstorms broke the mast on my new hexbeam, meaning I had to take it down until I can buy another mast. Bah. :pound:

SHHHHH!  Taco don't say that!  You'll upset the fanboys.

Although actually Mac OS was a remodeled BSD clone.  But few even know what BSD is.  Apple's OS is easier to install than the original BSD ever was though.

ADD-ON EDIT:  Actually there's a rumor that Apple tried to hire Linus himself (by that time he was already famous) but he declined and continued working on Linux.

I am not a boy thank you!   :pound:

And Linux is worth about $1.4 billion, and Apple about $651.5 billion.
So regardless of if they mirror platforms, Apple's advertising and push to get the public to buy is like 600x more effective then Linux. Yea yea, it's not about the money....but it is really.

Who said you were a boy? I never said anything about you. I was talking about fanboys.

And where on earth did you get information about the worth of Linux? Linux has no net worth. It's free. That's the whole point. Canonical, the company that makes Ubuntu, might have a net worth.

This may be a discussion for another thread, but do you think we should stop using certain products/services just because they support things we dont believe in? I mean if we did that to ALL places and things that support non-Biblical things, then we couldnt go anywhere, eat anywhere or buy anything....everything seems to support SOMETHING nowadays.

My cousins who I live with, dont go to Starbucks anymore, they wont go to Disney World/Land and they just found out on the news last night that Firefox (or Mozilla Inc) supports Gay stuff. Now, (since they had to use my computer recently and they know I use FF) are harassing me to get rid of it and use something else. I dont want to. I dont pay any money to use their browser, and I like it. I dont like IE anymore, and I dont care for Safari or Chrome. I want to keep my own things that I prefer and leave it at that...no matter who they support or dont support.

As for Starbucks and Disney, Ill go there when and if I please. Its my money, and just because I buy a product or visit an amusement park, it doesnt mean that I support what they support. If I wanted to support Gay marriage or any other thing, I would give the money directly to that. But I dont. But I do enjoy a Starbucks once in awhile!

What do yall think? Should we stop going to these places or using a free web browser just because of the company's beliefs?

Im not looking for a debate. Just a few personal opinions from friends.

Two more weeks at Harveys Grocery store in the Deli, then I move on to Winn Dixie and see where they want me to be. Im excited and anxious and sad all at once. I really like my job at Harveys and I dont want to leave, and Ive made lots of friends who are not all going to WD with me.

Oh well. God knows and He did it, so Im not worried. Ill be ok.

I don't even have the capacity to research all the immoral things companies support and/or directly contribute to, nor do I have the ability to replace everything I live my life with, economically.

However, having said that, I think there is a personal element. I personally try and stay away from Pepsi products because they unashamedly use aborted fetus tissue somehow in the process of flavor enhancing it's products. Not to say there are aborted babies IN the food but just the fact that they contribute significantly to the abortion business being just that. I just don't want to spend much if any of the money we work for toward that. But that is ME.  I couldn't care less about what others do. I felt moved to do this. I also don't think I can keep up with the massive amounts of products Pepsi makes so I might be using something I'm unaware is theirs. But I'm pretty sure I do not buy any of their food/drink.

I'll drink Starbucks if I feel like wasting that much money, and I have.   Lol  But Panera has $1.75 hazelnut coffee that you add your own sugar and creamer to at the little counter. I basically feel like I'm getting a latte.

I also have no interest in Disney land. Or Disney. Lol

I don't really have my head wrapped around how money leads people to practice homosexuality.  But buying dead babies and using them in various lab stuff, that bothers me.

On the other hand, if I could afford it, I would choose Chick File everytime because they have tried to take a stand.  That's worth something to me even if they did it to make money.

To each their own in this subject I say.

From what I heard, we should stop using Firefox because the CEO said something that was anti gay. Which one is it? Are they for or against? Not that I'll stop using Firefox either way...

Along the lines of the not supporting places you don't agree with deal....  In one of my Marsh (a grocery) stores where I worked today for inventory, I discovered that they store had pulled a handful of different card designs from the "Just Wink" brand line because a customer had went through them and pulled ones that she found offensive and complained that they shouldn't be in the store and that she was calling Marsh corporate.

The Just Wink line is by nature a racy/edgy brand in particular.  It appeared that the person basically just kept looking through them all to find which ones they deemed offensive.

The store is waiting to see if they hear back anything from corporate and if they don't they're putting them back on the shelf.

Reminds me of a minister and family who were walking along the boardwalk in Hollywood.  Every so often they would pass a woman who er... almost had a dress on.  The minister would mutter "disgusting!"  Finally one of his children said, "If it's disgusting, why does daddy keep looking at them?"  His sibling said, "Maybe he likes being disgusted."

What kind of car do they drive? All big 3 American auto makers give to pro-gay charities.

The truth is if you want to stop supporting all companies that support immoral sinful behavior move to the mountains and become Apostolic Amish. All cellphone providers support equal rights for gay partnerships. Most internet is owned by cell companies or cable companies so no internet. Turn in their social security cards and drivers license. Tell them if they really want to do it get ready to live off the grid.

I do avoid Starbucks though of my own choice. Because the CEO said openly  closed minded people who were prejudiced against homosexuals were invited to take their money and invest it somewhere else. (Paraphrased) He said it to a share holder meeting. So after that I chose to abide by his request.

Morning all. NOT "Good Morning". I hate morning people. This morning is being very unkind and hard on me. I was told by my carpool partner that I appeared to either have the flu or recovering from a ten day drunk. At this point, the drunk doesn't sound bad. :smirk2: And FWIW, still no Dr. Pepper.......
But on a bright note, today is my Friday.

^ Correct and Correct.

Quote from: Psalm_97 on April 09, 2014, 02:16:43 PM
And where on earth did you get information about the worth of Linux? Linux has no net worth. It's free. That's the whole point. Canonical, the company that makes Ubuntu, might have a net worth.
Canonical works from a fund set up by the founder, Mark Shuttleworth.   The Linux Foundation might pull that much money a year, from the memberships... but that money goes right into the kernel dev team, producing training videos/documentations and adverts.  I doubt they have that much sitting as cash on-hand.    However the point of the manipulative and frustrating produce company that dodges taxes better than any politician I've heard of... does have plenty of money as "cash on-hand" assets. I would go on with the evils of Apple, but it would be like pointing out Errors of the Watchtower to a LDS member lol

Time to finish packing for men's retreat...clean out my car...and make it to my friends house in 19 minutes.... and *poof*

Hmpf. Quiet around here- we can't have that!
Been a good day. I drove Rusty a fair distance, picked up a couple more things for the tower project, then had to make a quick dash to Russellville for some bolts I'd forgotten. While I was there, Lou called and told me Cody and his girlfriend, (a young couple in our church) had showed up.
Cody is quite the mechanic, and loves my 'vette....he went in the shop and repaired the problem I was putting off for the past seven months. So, tonight, the Corvette drove out of the shop and took a spirited run down the road for the first time in months. Yes, I am happy.
And to top it all off, starting around 9 in the morning, we are gonna put up that tower....

Bro Marshall is preaching tomorrow morning. Brandon came to both Thursday and Friday nights services. Thursday night Bro Rodeheaver 'read my mail' so to speak and it surprised Brandon someone I hadn't seen in years knew everything I was going through and had only told to him. Slowly but surely the Lord is working on that boy...

Also PTL my dad pretty much has a job!!!!! He interviewed with AutoZone on Friday [I know. It seems to be a family affair now....] and barring anything crazy happening with his background check he should start a week from Monday.

I'm wore slap out. Got up at around 6  this morning....friends arrived around 8:15 or so and we put up the tower. Hardest part of all was getting the beam up.... but now, thank God in Heaven, it is done. Just in time for tomorrow's stormy weather. :smirk:
After we finished that, we went by McDonald's where I cheated and had a SMALL Dr. Pepper, no refill, with my meal. Strangly, it wasn't "all that". Go figure.
We then went to another ham's house and took down an antenna for repair- he's in his 80's and about half a step from a nursing home, so we were glad to help out. I got to drive Rusty a bit too, then came home and mowed and cleaned up the yard, then pressure washed Rusty, the Corvette, and the BadBoy mower.
So as you see- I have a right to be tarred.

Some of you vitamin/tea weight loss natural health gurus. I need something natural and proven to pull fluid off. I'm on prescribed fluid pills that even the doctor admits are just irritating my kidneys and not pulling off fluid. Kidney function test shows up fine though except for irritation. Drinking more water is just adding to the issue. Any suggestions for a natural diuretic?

Anything with caffeine - dark chocolate, strong tea, coffee - is a diuretic.  But caffeine can be rough on the kidneys as well...

Warm water with a squirt of FRESH lemon juice or a TBSP of Apple Cider Vinegar (with the "mother" in it) in your water are both GREAT diuretics plus tons of other good benefits.

Actually these will balance your body. If you don't need a diuretic, it won't do it. Which is great because it won't dehydrate you.

And that "apple cider vinegar with the mother" works. I've been taking 2 tsp of it with 1 tsp of pure honey with 8 ounces of water every morning for the last week. I've lost 11 lbs  doing that and cutting out the soft drinks. I suspect the majority of that is water weight, but I'll take what I can get. I'm sure now it'll plateau for the next two months. :smirk:

Just make sure that your pure honey is not clear nor pourable or it's been refined to the point of being the SAME as white sugar.  You might already know that but many don't.  There are no FDA regulations on honey so they can say "pure" "raw" "natural" organic and there is no standard to hold to what that means.  Often store bought honey can be corn syrup with some honey in it, and there is no one to cause companies to answer for that presently.  They don't have to say it on the labels even.  But with the reading and talking to people with integrity, Honey is beneficial because of the pollen and it's anti bacterial/microbial/fungal properties.  That is what makes honey solid and white or light yellow.  When it's heated and strained, that is removed, along with the beneficial properties.

So if you're just taking the honey because you like it, ok.  If you are taking pourable translucent honey for health benefits, there aren't any.  I know it's annoying. Same for agave nectar.

The difference between acv with "mother" and without is regular acv is distilled, which means that any natural enzymes and other important minerals have been killed in the process and it offers no medicinal value.

Distilled vinegar is still great for cleaning the floors and such though!

---

Let's see, in the last few weeks here in the KC area:

Grandview trangle shooter,
Chimpanzees escaping the zoo
school rapes
and now shootings at Jewish sites

Other than inner city crime, this is not how the metro is.  We are touted for being a not so exciting place to visit but a great place to live.  Which we like, we don't care to be a tourist attraction like other cities.

It's still snowing.  I'm going to pretend the snow in the grass are flowers....

We are kind of stuck right now.  We asked a friend about Linux and he said it involves knowing more about computers and suggested just going with Apple or Windows 7.  Neither of which can we afford a cool $200.

I HOPE I don't have a virus nor am causing the havoc on GP.  I'd basically just have to stop coming here until we got a new computer. :/

This soon after support stopped, you are probably not the cause. But tell your friend his viewpoint about Linux is about 7 or 8 years old.

Actually if I have somewhere to send it I could mail you a Linux CD.

One more day down....Chey made me proud by bringing home TWO 100% test scores! Her reward was a small bowl of white cheese dip that she loves from her favorite restraunt. Then I got on the radio for a bit and had a nice long conversation with a guy in Nottingham, England. Apparently the upside down umberella is thriving in its new high home, as he told me my signal was one of the loudest he'd heard today. :thumbsup2:
And my dream Corvette passed me on the way home. Mini'd have kittens if he'd saw it- black c5 Z06, everything blacked out, and supercharged. It sounded awesome. All I could do is drool from behind the wheel of the papaw mobile.....
And that's sharing for today from me.  :P

Truth!

My parents that know very little about computers are on linux (Ubuntu 12.04 Long Term Support edition to be precise).  I've had a LOT less of calls saying for me to come fix what they broke since migrating them year ago.

MellowYellow:  I suggest BitDefender Free, a freeware anti-malware (antivirus, antispyware, etc) that is about as good as any of the payware security systems out there.  It should plug the holes, at least for now.

Of course I still recommend Linux Mint, but I get the impression you do not consider that option viable.

Because I hate me in pictures.  Ask Chel, she knows.  Actually I have a long running (good natured) feud with a certain person at church who loves taking pictures of people...

But the consideration is valid.  I could send it to a nearby post office, c/o somewhere-not-too-far, to be picked up by you.  Doesn't even have to be your post office, could be three towns down the road.  The USPS is great that way.

But, if he is willing to send me the packet for you, I will be glad to forward it, since I have your address due to the hemp/chocolate gravy/christmas cards. At least I do if I haven't lost it.  :P

Mow another yard and get the hitch.  You know you want to.

Wait... Mowing everyone else's yard and not having enough energy to mow your own?  Is that like the common phenomenon of the mechanic who fixes everyone else's car, but he himself drives an old beater?

If I find another yard owner willing to pay me, I will do just that. And in truth, my yard's been mowed....it's all the other clean up and stuff that I can't do riding on the mower that I'm haveing difficulty mustering up the energy to do.

No, that was only in Seth's mind.  He started calling me WC for some weird reason.

Speaking of weird... has anyone seen my uncle Jeff?  If you see him, tell him come home, the family is starting to worry about him.  Here's what he looks like.

Had a good Easter service, although the crowd was a little thin. Visiting preacher did a bang up job. Then I came home and ate dinner....fixing to go lie before the Lord for a few hours, then go back to work. Bah. I still think I'd make a fine rich man.
Oh, and I doled out a couple more "smites" for those rebellious souls discussed earlier.

Would appreciate a prayer. Day is NOT beginning well at work this morning. I'm about two shakes of a lamb's tail from going back to what I know how to do- real police work. This political bull hockey is killing me. One day-  "You're not attentive enough" Next day- "You're paying too much attention to the door you are assigned to work". They want you laid back and friendly, but aggressive and safety oriented. Kinda like wanting a pit bull and a poodle- they don't coexist. I can do either- but they won't like the "real" me.
I swear, I want a patrol car and a real law enforcement job without being second guessed by someone who's never heard a shot fired in anger. I know how to deal with that.
Rant over, Thanks.

Thankful for a God that shows me He cares....
Today was a day that I'd prefer not to repeat. Nothing major, but everything was wrong. Lou told me the girls we watch wouldn't be over today, so I went to get a needed haircut- true to my day, my barbershop was closed. I went home out of sorts, and decided a ride in Rusty would do away with my stress. Lou had a day similar to mine,so she went too. Of course BOTH of the country resturaunt hole in the walls we like to frequent were closed.:pound:
Before leaving the house, though, I  had quickly made a CD for my cruising music, since the one in Rusty's cd player had been scratched pretty badly from bouncing around....I just downloaded a few songs from one of my favorite singers, Terry Terrell. Didn't pay attention to what I was downloading...
Driving around on the way home, my attention was caught by a song- "Keep me in Your Will ( So I Won't Be in Your Way)".
It said EVERYTHING I needed to say to God. I bawled until I nearly had to pull off of the road. I have to remember to pray that. That whole song was my present situation...and before now, it was a song I listened to, but didn't pay attention to the words. God's got it, and all WILL be well.

Anyway- that mess is behind me for the week. I have no intention of thinking about it until Monday, anyway.
Not that my weekend is starting any better. I stopped and paid the guy for the Lincoln repair job, planning to pick it up when Lou got in. He calls me just before I walk out the door. "Bob? Don't bother getting it tonight. There's a little metal 'tube' under the intake. It's pouring... gonna have to replace that.". Long story short- another $100 I don't have just sprouted wings. :pound:   I don't know whether to break down sobbing or laugh at the pure absurdness of all this mess happening at once. Option three IS getting consideration...:laughhard:

I absolutly would like to go in business, if I knew I could make a living at it. But I wanted that particular one because of the history. I'd like to have restored it to its original late '30's early '40's look, and just use it for storage for rusty and the Stude. Kinda a hobby shop. I came close to buying it a few years ago, but the owner wouldn't come off of his price of 10 grand and it needed another few thousand in structural repairs. I'd have given him $5k...:sadbounce:
Ironically, I bet they didn't get that much for it after the last few years' deterioration.

Back at work. Quite the light show going on- the storms they've predicted for our area seem to be firing up a bit earlier than I'd heard. They are saying tornados, golf ball size hail, and 60+ mph winds are likely.  :o If I get blowed away, I hope I am put down- gently- somewhere in Florida or another tropical paradise. One fatality so far, but there's ALOT of damage. So thankful it went through at 7 pm, and not three and a half hours earlier, as it went right through where I drive daily.

Well I'm alive... barely.

I waited for the bus again on Friday. Long story short, I went to the ER, and ended up with a fractured kneecap, a bruised left knee, bruised elbow, broken wrist, busted lip, and six stitches inside my mouth. Possibly later I may lose my front tooth, as it is very loose right now, and I still have to see a dentist. That's what happens when you decide to attack hug a concrete step... With your face.

As far as my job goes, I got lucky, because this was our last week anyway, and the deli is already closed. I pretty much had this week coming up, off anyway. We were just going to be cleaning and moving stuff, and I can't do that now anyway so I'm off. I still don't know any information about my new job, we are supposed to find out at the end of this week.

Y'all be sure to pray that I still have one.

That is all. Any questions?

Along and in the vicinity of a creek.

Not water turtles though, box turtles.  "Tarpins," (terrapins) as we call them.

They were just out in great abundance today.

Maybe they ate all the mushrooms.

Bobby:  Chili dogs?  Mexican food gives you trouble, but you can eat chili dogs?

Speaking of which... a few weeks ago I was typing the bulletin one Sunday morning and the pastor came through looking a bit tired.  He said they went to the mexican restaurant in town the night before (which is never a good idea, that particular restaurant is very bad) and his "beef burrito" had a chopped-up hot dog in it.  For some reason this caused my pastor trouble, because he had been up and down all night.  And his sermon that Sunday was a bit short.

Dude, I can scarf a chili dog anytime with no problems.  Preferably one smothered in onions and cheese, with a large dollop of a sweet mayonnaise based slaw....:fork:
Without TMI, you *might* not want to be near me in enclosed spaces for a day or two afterwards though.

Good morning, all. Gonna be a good day, even if I have to whip someone's tail to ensure it.

Taco:  Why in the world would you want an HP Compaq?  Those are very prone to hardware failure.  If I had known that was the computer in question I would not have wondered that it died on you.  In any event, it is very unlikely the OS would still work, even in an HP Compaq of a comparable year model.  Microsoft is very careful to not allow any possibility of cloning, which leaves legitimate users sometimes up the creek.

Another roller coaster day, thanks to the psycho that is my sergeant. I wish he'd go away....He started the morning by accusing me of not performing a building check when I was assigned to building duties yesterday evening, and "spending over an hour on the computer instead". Did he apologize after he was shown proof in the form of the building's video camera system that 1) I HAD done the building check and 2) I had spent less than thirty minutes on the computer? He did not.
My chief told me not to fret, but the sergeant in question has been going around HIM too, talking with his boss, which concerns me. I truthfully don't know why this guy dislikes me, I've never done anything to him- but every since he came to day shift a couple months ago, my life has been a living hell.
I am earnestly praying God moves him- or takes him out, which I don't care. He nearly got taken out by me today- I don't do well with basically being called a liar and not doing my job. I nearly became the old me, which may have required a bail bond before I was done. Thank God for helping me hold my temper...
And to make matters worse today, my left foot is slightly swollen and aching. I can hardly walk. And I think I am going to prop it up and pray that God forgives me for skipping church tonight.
Lucky y'all. You get to be my vent place. One day I'll doubtless list you as my support group on prision paperwork the way it's going. :laughhard:

Can't your chief call him on the carpet for making false accusations? Seems like he could repay the misery if he is that much of a trouble maker. Sounds like he is trying to open a slot on day shift for someone by making you mad enough to quit. Don't give in be stubborn like we know you are. lol

I'm on campus for my last day of class. Finished up 2 classes this morning with tests. Have one more theatre class today then take that test next week. In an odd turn of events I will be moving again in the next couple weeks. My roommate lied to me about being able to get onto the lease and all that it entails. I do not qualify for all the loops the require nor do I have a cosigner. I will be moving my bed to my parents, my excess furniture to Brandon's, and myself into a dorm on campus for summer. I've also applied for housing here in the fall. I will only have to stay at my parents for 2 weeks in August between summer and fall terms.

That's pretty much all I have to update yall on. Have a good one!!

Lord. It should be legal to kill a spouse for doing what mine did this morning. :pound: Beautiful morning, my Saturday, Chey's out of school today so sleep in time, here I come....NOT. My lovely wife woke me up at around 4:45 when she came in from the guest room where she'd fallen asleep watching a movie when I went to bed....then, just after I'd dozed back off, she showed up at 6:30 to announce that 1) she'd not been able to go back to sleep and had cooked bacon for breakfast and 2) I HAD to get up and make biscuits since she can't make them like I can. :fire:
So here I am, awake, biscuits made and in the oven, and the certainty that my peaceful day has been totally rearranged, as she is yelling about "getting to the yardsales before the good stuff's gone". Lord.

Our water heater wasn't fully dead the other day as I had alluded to at one point, it had just had a fuse blown at the time, but it has been slowly dying for a while though...  I picked a new one up today and dad wanted to hurry and install it....  Poor old decrepit dad.  Still pray for him, he's in poor shape.  But anyways, the power was supposed to be off, and it was not, we learned as fire flew when the wire touched a pipe.  I could've been fried alive.  Scared the poop out of me.  *sigh*

Then had issues...and it was such a slow process....  With a little assistance from someone else to remedy a problem, it appears to be okay....  I took a shower and it didn't electrocute or scald me.

A young guy that's new to the area came to church today...he'd left a message on the church answering machine last night that he was going to.  I was glad that he did.  I hope he comes back again.  Or at least selects a church to go to.  He said he's new to the Pentecostal faith but he's been baptized in Jesus name and such.

We were gonna move the one cow none of the other like back up here to the house.....so after we moved everything else in a new lot, we were walking her up the road, and the bull took a wild spell and jumped out and came to join us...so we ended up taking them both up here.

But no sooner than we got back down the road, here he comes, he'd tore out up here...  Lord, big dummy.

The other one is not content by herself, though she's not being wild at least, so maybe she'll settle and learn to enjoy eating and living without everybody else butting and beating the poop out of her.  :smirk2:

If she runs away, she'll just go back down there.  Hopefully she won't though.

It was nice and cool this morning when I left.
Breezy.

I haven't run the AC yet. Haha I don't wanna run it until
I absolutely have too. I haven't been home except at night most days. And with the breeze at night and my fan I'm good.

At work. And already ready to punch some coworkers.
Should be back in the office full time by end of the month though. Boss told me yesterday.
Thank ya Lord!!

Lord.

We got a pretty good little downpour a few ago, but it has stopped now. Lou called on the way home and she and Chey commenced begging for steak. I went by the local meat market and spent $12 on two large sirlons, cut them up, and cooked them, serving them with the leftover mashed potatoes and corn..
Then Chey began begging for a buttermilk pie, which I haven't made in a while. Since I was lucky enough to score a quart of fresh, homemade buttermilk from my egg/milk/butter supplier, it seemed a great time to test its cooking properties. Oh. My. Lord. It made an absolutely AWESOME pie. Seemed to be little "fluffier" if that makes sense, and tasted divine. I got a piece, Lou and Chey got a piece each, and I looked a while ago to see that they have packed the remainder for lunch, leaving me without. :pound:

Oh, and say a prayer for Kim and her little dog. Her dog (a weenie dog named Chili) has a vertabrae problem...vet doesn't think surgery is a good option, and Chilidog is in pain. He's Kim's child and she is hurting as bad as he is from watching it.

Traveling to SC tomorrow for a concert.

Then I came home and got hte lawnmower, and mowed a brother in the church's yard, and spent over an hour talking with him..then came home and put a buttermilk pie in the oven for potluck tomorrow.

We have friends that had a tree go down on the power lines in front of their house when the storm came through a couple days ago.  The police blocked the road to traffic and they just now today got the tree off the line but turned off power to the house.  It has pulled the wiring partially away from the house.  They spent the night with us last night and will probably stay another day or two from the sounds of things.

This is the tree and you can sorta see their house in the background behind the other house.

Taco:  Yeah, my mother sent me an email as soon as she heard about that.  I didn't get them based on Vibram's claims though, I got them because I've wanted a pair of shoes without a built-up heel for years and years.  First shoes I have ever NOT been impatient to get off my feet as soon as I get home.

In local news, if any of you are thinking about getting a dog soon, I recommend against getting an australian shepherd.  I recently discovered they have an instinct to roll in manure.  First dog I've ever had who did that.

It's so rough losing elders in your church.

 Lord. I.Am.Whipped.
Today was the last day of school for Chey, and they had a field trip. She begged for me to go, so I did. THEN I find out they are hiking to the bottom of Cedar Falls, which is around 2 to 3 miles- nearly vertical. I made it, but there were moments I thought I heard the angel's wings coming to get me, then discovered it was just my blood pressure.
Chey fell while near the  falls, didn't hurt her a bit, but she cried and wanted Daddy to carry her piggyback. I did, for around a mile..I surprised myself. I made it with relatively little trouble, not even stopping very long to rest. Tomorrow I shall need help to get out of bed, probably. One thing's for sure- I won't feel guilty about eating something unhealthy tonight, if I choose to.

That's weird. I KNOW I posted a reply, but it appears the board ate it.

Actually, the hike was nice and I enjoyed it. I would've liked to own that spot we hiked to- I would barricade the trail where no one else could come bother me, build me a cabin, and live happily ever after....
Here today in my real life though- it's cloudy, cool and NOT a spring day. Seems more like fall. Too cold for me to do much of anything, so I'm lazing around reading and playing radio....

Well...since no one else will post, I shall. :hypocrite:
Back at work. Just got a weird email from H.R.....wanting all employees to do a survey on what they would like to do to improve their life. I really wanted to tell them I'd like to be wealthy and not have to come into this place and take their inane surveys put out by clueless educated idiots....but I restrained myself.
Only four more days after today until the weekend....

:hi: Nearly had a year scared off'n me today.....Forgot my checkbook and left it at home- or so I thought. Then wen I get home, I can't find it anywhere. Checks, credit cards, debit card- if it's financial for us, it's there.
I tore the house apart.....finally, after an hour of searching and pleading, we found it. Behind the tread mill, upon which my loving wife had laid my work pants.  It'd fallen out of the pocket. Shew, Lord.
And we are fixing to go to Chey's 2 nd grade graduation. Straight "A's"... I'm proud of my youngun'. Think we are gonna go to McDonald's for a rare treat..

Made through the first day of range. Got sunburned....Then came home, mowed the yard, and went to the abandonded homeplace up the road and done something I've wanted to do for ten years. There is a HUGE climbing teacup rose- the type with clusters of tiny roses- right on the edge of the road. It climbs up an old fence and has entwined itself through the branches of an old cedar tree.  Thing's probably 40-50 years old....This time of year it looks like someone threw a red carpet of teacup roses up the side of the tree.
I went up and found that the rose has re-produced by having several offshoot root. I dug up two of them and transplanted them. Probably not the right time of year, but I don't think it will hurt. They are beautiful....

Those and some cattle dogs will. Helps them stay close to the herd with out scaring them. Claim it's instinct.

Thankfully for internet XP still works they just remind you it's dead every 5 minutes. What urks me though is they wont let me install a legal copy of office XP I paid for. Called them and was told you just paid to use the software we choose what you can use it on. So if I had vista or 7 I could install it.

Well. Today was interesting. Had a big storm come through Little Rock- lotsa rain and some wind. I get radioed that a limb has fallen off of a tree on 7th Street, so I run through the "tunnel" at work and have the officer working the door to bring me a raincoat since I'd left mine at home...
I arrive to find that a car had been struck by said "limb". Limb was actually the east half of a 150 year old oak tree and was bigger around than I am, by quite a bit. The car was driving by when the tree fell on it. Tree landed precisely on the driver's roof, and DESTROYED the car. I have no idea how the driver kept from being killed- but he limped away with only what appeared to be superficial damage.
Needless to say we had every TV station in Little Rock there to film it, since it happened a block from two of the networks' stations. Therefore, I KNOW I am on television tonight, as well as in the paper tomorrow, I suspect....

Jenn:  keepvid.com works.  Select mp3 instead of a video format.  It won't be audiophile quality (because people don't upload audiophile quality to a youtube video) but it will be good enough for most people.
Title: Re: Is it just me?? Feeling alone in Sharing 493..

...Of course there are legal, moral and ethical implications if one does a bunch of song ripping.  It's probably just as well that I'm an audiophile and can't stand the audio quality, or I'd probably at least seriously compromise my ethics, being the music nut that I am.  But grabbing a song for the choir to hear so they can learn to sing it is probably okay.

:hi: Where'd everyone go?!? Morning, all. It is raining like a cow peeing on a flat rock, as my grandfather used to say. And now, today will be "girl's state"- which means we'll have 500 or so teen girls running through the capitol. "OMG! Can you believe it?!? *Squeal*" Bah.
Girl's state what, Bobby?

Girl's State is a deal that the schools do here....they take girls from schools all over the state, ( ages 14 or so through 17) have some instruction time, have mock elections, electing them to all of Arkansas' Constitutional offices, plus House and Senate seats, and just generally teach them about the legislative process. They also have all the colleges from around the state set up booths of information for the kids. It's a yearly thing, and tomorrow will be "Boy's State" which is the male version.
The girls are usually calmer, with some slight drama. The boys have been known to be, er, a bit more rowdy, from stealing from the blind ladies snack stand to drawing depictions of body parts on the sidewalks... :sadbounce:
Thankfully, I'm off tomorrow and won't have to put up with the boys. Today was MORE than enough with the girls...

Any boy who steals from a blind lady's snack stand should be tarred and feathered.  Alternatively he should have his eyelids glued shut with super glue.  The glue will wear off in time, but until it does he'll get a good appreciation for how it feels to be blind.

^ I agree. But believe it or not we had some worthless turds do just that last year. I wanted to pop 'em until their eyes swelled shut for a few days for the same reasons you listed...

I cut it in half, remove the seeds and bake for an hour in the oven. Remove, let cool a bit, scrape out the meat with a fork, throw it in a pan with butter, spices, onion and tomatoes, sautée it up a bit add some cream, and shredded cheese, and we eat!

Yummerz!!

In other news, will someone ping Taco and see if he's alive?  He hasn't answered a tech (nerd) pm in days.  I don't have his phone number.

Shew. I is beat. Got up and went to the library and then to grocery shop...I swear it gets more expensive every week...
And the a/c condensation vent stopped up and flooded our bedroom floor.  :sadbounce: I've ripped up the carpet, only to find that the morons that laid it felt it would be a grand idea to glue the padding down. In addition, the water has been wicked up by the headboard of our bed, and the beginnings of mold were on one area of the wall. Lord. It's still debateable whether the headboard can be saved, I'm bleaching the slight trace of mold and scraping like and idiot to get the glue up. WHY can't something go right and normal for me?!? :pound:

Anyone ever remind you that I am 1) jumpy 2) don't like surprises, and 3) shoot at things that startle me? Well, all of that is true..

TODAY IS THE DAY! Getting this cast off! WHOOT!

:hyper:

If I get an x-ray, and they tell me that I have to put another cast on, I think I will just lay down and cry. But that is a possibility they told me. But I have faith that it's healed properly now and that I can come home cast free!
