well sadly it dont look like formatting was the solution. but perhaps it will help it work until i find a new one i want. had already been talking about buying a newer laptop anyways. sigh

Barb you could get a live Linux disk to run on.   Downside is you can't save changes, unless you install it to a flash drive (and then you have to keep the flash drive plugged in all the time) but upside is you don't have to have a hard drive, and a Linux Mint or Super OS has all the programs most normal people need.

I of course am not normal, so I have to use KXStudio live disk.  :D

If your computer is already too far gone to download the .iso and burn it to a disk, I can send you a copy.  A friend of mine ran for six months from the live disk, so it should get you through until you get the new computer.
