Exodus 10:12-20

King James Version (KJV)

12 And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left.

13 And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the Lord brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.

14 And the locust went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.

15 For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

16 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the Lord your God, and against you.

17 Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the Lord your God, that he may take away from me this death only.

18 And he went out from Pharaoh, and intreated the Lord.

19 And the Lord turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, and cast them into the Red sea; there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.

20 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go.

12 ΒΆ Then the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt to bring the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt and eat all the grass of the land and all that the hail has left.

13 And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.

14 And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt and landed in all the borders of Egypt. Very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall there be such.

15 For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they ate all the grass of the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left; and there did not remain any green thing in the trees or in the grass of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

16 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the LORD your God and against you.

17 Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your God, that he may take away from me this death only.

18 And he went out from Pharaoh and intreated the LORD.

19 And the LORD turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts and cast them into the Red sea; there remained not one locust in all the borders of Egypt.

20 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the sons of Israel go.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

12 God did not make empty treats to Pharaoh, when Pharaoh did not let His people go He sent plagues on them. The hail would have destroyed most of the crops now the ones left and the ones growing back would be eaten by the locusts.

13 Locusts came as the Lord had warned Pharaoh. The wind came from the east which meant they crossed the Red Sea which is what the Israelites would do but the Egyptians would not be able to do.

14 These locusts would end up destroying Egypt. Egypt would not be able to recover to great power after this plague. What was starting to grow back would be eaten, leaving Egypt and a state to where food would have been gotten from else where.

15 There were so many locusts they blocked out the sun.

16 Pharaoh showed signs of repentance but he had done this before he just wanted the plague to end.

17 Pharaoh may have truly been sorry but he did not want to let His people go. Pharaoh saw the judgment of the Lord. God's judgment is always just. Egypt had been mistreating God's people for years and the wrath of god was being poured out in these plagues on Egypt because of how they treated His people.

18 Moses went to pray again to the Lord on the behalf of the Pharaoh.

19 God removed the locusts. They went into the Red Sea, this would soon happen to Pharaoh's army.

20 Pharaoh had learned nothing because he did not let His people go. God would soon brake Pharaoh.
The Lord made a Way.
