I think the biggest life change for me has been the fact that I had to understand that now my life doesn't revolve around me. I've never considered myself a self-centered person, but in a sense I was. Many people live the single life not fully appreciating the positive side of being independent. That wasn't me. I have experienced the other side of that coin and truly loved my independence. I have a good job, great hours and pays well, I was buying my own home (2 bedroom, 3 bath), my car was purchased brand new, I could come and go as I pleased, I could even take off out of town for days at a time on short notice, I even appreciated the fact that I could eat however much or little I wanted and when I wanted and didn't have to plan meals based on someone else's taste and schedule, I didn't even have to plan a meal or think about what I was going to eat - you get hungry you find something to eat - done, I liked going to bed when I wanted to and waking up on my own schedule and not having to worry about making sure anyone else was awake when they were supposed to be when I could still be sleeping. That list could go on and on..... even more than it already has. I'm sure you get the picture that I really did love my independence, probably to the point of being selfish with my life. My daily choices were mine without having to take anyone else's schedule or plans into consideration and I didn't need anyone to help me do anything. I was never a materialistic person, I never placed a high value on "things" and was never one to try to attain nice things, etc. but what was in my heart was equally as bad. I had my life life exactly the way I wanted it and didn't want to give up anything for anyone.
God started speaking to my heart about sacrifice. Sacrifice doesn't mean give up one thing in expectation of getting another. The heart attitude of a sacrifice means being willing to give up everything for nothing in return, just for the joy of expressing love and appreciation, but most of all to give of oneself, to love in a way that puts my will, wants and desires second to another. When David bought the threshingfloor in order to make a sacrifice, it was because he wanted the plague to stop, but he had asked God to put it on himself and his family instead of the people (a heart willing to make the self sacrifice). When David bought the threshingfloor, first he made burnt offerings - the required, the peace offerings - for thanksgiving. Then the words in 2 Samuel 24:24 ... neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing.... jumped out at me. There was more sacrificed there than the usual sacrifices. David made a sacrifice of self in order to even be able to offer the other sacrifices.
No, I'm not saying love and marriage is all about sacrifices. David didn't just offer burnt offerings and peace offerings, but was obedient to what the Lord had commanded him to do and just in order to be able to make the offering, it cost him. What would make someone do something like that? Love. How can someone let go of something that is valuable to them without fear, or even regardless of fear? Trust.
My life has now once again been turned upside down and inside out. I have been put in a position to make the choice of letting go of my satisfaction and happiness in my independence. The cost has been great, but when you make a right sacrifice for the right reason, the only pain in the sacrifice is making the decision to give something of yourself. With people we don't know if we give of ourself if it will be something we will regret, but when God's hand is in it and you seek His guidance and His will and you know that His hand is in it, the cost or risk doesn't matter. God sees our heart and He alone knows our motivation and reasoning behind the doing. I knew I had met a person that God had sent, He had clearly arranged the whole thing, in His time, for His purpose. I Love Jesus and I knew I could trust him, taking the step to put action to our trust is the most difficult, but also the most rewarding. God has been good and He never changes. He has brought me someone that already understands this kind of love that is willing to take the risk, to make the sacrifices, to give their all for another. You see, it works both ways and God has abundantly blessed me with a wonderful person to share my life with.
Now I realize that for everything I was willing to give up, God already had a plan and had everything in place for the blessings to be returned at least two-fold. In exchange for my independence and the empty pleasure of being able to do things my way, Jesus gave me someone to share my life with, someone to share in the laughter, a comforter through the tears, a calm in my storm, someone who is dedicated to helping me stay the course in my walk with God, and so much more...... and that's just my soon to be husband, I haven't even started on how awesome his family is. Yes, God has certainly been good. My life is no longer my own to do with as I please and I'm thankful because now my joy is doubled....... and this is just the beginning.

Yeah, I cried every time I left. It would always take about 3 or 4 days for me to get back to "normal".
First of all, I didn't "know" NC is where I was supposed to be, it was just where I "wanted" to be. So first I had to separate my "want" from where God had me.
Second, I had to trust that if that was where God wanted me to be or if He would allow me to be there some day, He would make the arrangements in His due time. So secondly I had to trust His timing and not try to get ahead of Him.
The waiting is the hardest Justin, but it is absolutely necessary. It is even more difficult when you KNOW where you're supposed to be. Lately I've really been liking the song "I Will Worship in the Waiting" by FCC (I may have the group name wrong). But it seems that the writer of that song had to go through a time of waiting for God to make a move or allow a move. Right where we are.
You just know you have to.
I cried all the way home from Miami when I came back from Honduras. My mom was like "Its ok, you will see your friends again..." it wasnt the friends, it was the work of God, she didnt understand what I was going thru, and it annoyed me that she was trying to comfort me, and didnt even have a clue what I was crying about.
You will be home soon enough, stick it out, and dont make and rash decisions while you are so emotional, wait till your emotions settle down, then look at it all again, and it will be more in perspective.
And PRAY...I know, that sounds so simple, but yet it is hard too. But dont just run off from school. Pray and make sure thats what God wants before you go doing things on your own. I have been praying for you all week. And I will continue to.

Nah, I don't mind. I just feel like while Justin and I are going through different things and we have our different reasons, we are both at the same place. It feels like such a short time before transition and transition is always hard enough, but when it's a transition you want, there are still things that have to happen and it has to be in order. Those last steps and the last days are the hardest to take and makes it the hardest to see it through. Something we all know, but you don't know how it feels until you are there in the middle of it.
Justin, I would also say that something that is helping me is looking back over my life and seeing where God has brought me from and things He has brought me through. There have been so many times in my life that I know I felt like something would never happen, but looking back I can see that God's hand was on the situation even when I couldn't see it while I was in the midst of it. When we look back and remember the times that God was there and was working even when we didn't know it, we can trust that He is still doing the same today. Our job is to remain faithful, trust Him, keep our focus on Him and give Him all praise and honor because He is about to do something huge in our lives!!!!! :clap: :clap:
But for now, we must wait.

It takes time to get to know people and build relationships. I've been through a lot with a lot of people here and friendships have stood strong through trials, it took a long time for the youth in church to realize I'm not an "old lady", it took a while for people at church to realize that just because I'm a new convert I don't want to be treated like a baby and I'm not going to turn tail and run and turn my back on church, in so many ways I have put a lot into building relationships....... now I have to start all over.
Oh yeah, I'll miss the smell of the fishy, salty air. Most people visiting think it stinks, but when you grow up with that smell, it becomes a smell that's like a comfort food thing, a familiar smell that brings comfort. But I have a feeling that soon, clean mountain air will have the same affect on me. :cloud9:

We went to Eureka Springs Arkansas and we LOVED it. We were supposed to go to Colorodo springs Colorado, but it was 4 days after the attacks on the world trade center, and colorado springs was locked down, so we couldn't go.....we had fun anyway. Took my husband to Branson (Mo) and he rode his first roller coaster EVER!!! That was a hoot!!!!!

The thing about the Hibachi Grill is that even if you don't like oriental food, there is plenty of good food there you'll like, and the oriental food is not necessarily the same as you see anywhere else, a lot of it is, but they have some unusual things there too. They have so much to choose from there, I don't think I ate any sushi either time I was there.

Bro. Dad has connections and we are staying in a cabin at the Indiana UPC Campgrounds. We leave tomorrow to go home. It's been absolutely wonderful! Not to say that life is perfect and always fair, but God has given me such a wonderful husband with so many amazing qualities I couldn't list them all here, and Bro Dad's kids are all so loving and sweet and are trying so hard to make me feel like part of the family, and the grandkids have already given me a nickname....... I just don't think I coud possibly ask for more.
So yes, in that sense it doesn't seem real, but I know it is, because I know in my heart this is truly my home and where I belong.

I have to say the thing I like least about NC is that I can't have my favorite things from Florida here. Obviously, I've had to make a choice and I have absolutely no regrets in the choice I've made, however, I'm still in an adjustment period and some days are harder than others. It's getting to be mostly easy with less and less hard days now. :thumbsup2:

nay!we got stuck in charolett, high point is where we deleivered to that morning. i dont want to get stuck anymore either.
we aint fancy at all we just wanted the place to look as good as yalls. we didnt have a backyard at first, we had a front yard and woods(forest) now we have a small back yard for a pool which we are putting up in a few days.
now the grass we planted is dying out so we prolly aint gonna have grass. we gotta sow some regular grass now.(we only had rye or winter grass sowed so our yard wouldnt wash away)
