We short people are just fun size. :)

Thinking about eating lunch. I didn't enjoy the meatballs as much as I remembered enjoying them.. I feel like our recipe was a little off or maybe we bought the wrong salsa, haha. Ah well..

I'm going to probably eat a mix of sweet & spicy tuna w/ shredded cheddar cheese and crackers. I also brought my cottage cheese, so I will probably also eat some of that. I need to go to the store tonight and get some baby spinach so that I can continue my salads. I wanted one today, but I am paying for not wanting to go to the grocery store last night, haha. Ohhhhh well. :)

Husband is back at work today. Thankfully it was a one-day case, but an absolutely soul shivering one apparently. It dealt with a mental health facility, someone who originally self-committed before, but wanted out now, who should never be out again in public due to the danger to themselves and others. Hearing my husband talk about it and hearing how very scared/concerned he was, it breaks my heart. She's such a pretty girl, she's a daughter, she's made some bad choices in her life that have unfortunately damaged her brain cells, and while I won't rule out that there could be bad spirits at work as well, it was heartbreaking hearing her degrade herself, show mistrust and abuse towards others and herself, all while people around her were trying their best to help her. God loves her and she needs Him more than she will ever know. I'm going to be praying for her. It breaks my heart that there are people in this world just like her, maybe some not as bad, maybe some worse off - and they are trying to seek out something that will make them feel better, and all they truly need is God. He can heal their hearts, their minds, their souls, and their bodies.

Totally considering a hunting season on cats in my domain of GP after reading this title. :pound:
And I need prayers. We were surprised by an announcement today that there is a new supervisor position in my office open. I have been approached about it and encouraged to apply. Please pray for guidance and most importantly, God's will.

He specifically requested a new sharing thread.

Sharing threads have to at least partially rhyme. We have already done "heaven" to death as a rhyme for "seven" and "eleven."

I gave him exactly what he asked for.

And he starts talking about cat hunting season.

*sigh

Just can't please some people.

No. You can't. But on the other hand,a fleeing puddi tat would at least make me laugh.
Anyhoo... got to church tonight and received the unwelcome news that the scheduled speaker was-ME. Nary a note, and I'm one of those that need my notes.
A thought, three scriptures and a lot of God got me through it. As usual, I finished feeling wiped out, but delivered.

It's time to join the digital age brother. Put notes on your phone. You'll always have them with you. God rescued you this time but you need to take this warning and start preparing for the future.

You don't even have to type them on your phone. Just type them on computer, save them as a .txt file and chunk them on your phone.

I don't know what the Lord Elvin reference is to, but it makes me think of Game of Thrones lol.

Last day of work. I have a 4-day weekend! Have almost 80 hours of vacation to use up. So I'm taking Friday/Monday off.

Yay for you!!

I've only got like 2 days left of vacation to take thru April, BUT I have tons of comp hours, so I'm saving some of those. Jeremy has to take 'craft break' in December for a week, which only a few of those are chargeable hours for me, BUT.. I'm excited b/c I want some time off at Christmas to see my family. Plus.. I'm really hoping it snows hard at some point so I can sit in a recliner with an electric blanket, Christmas movies, some coffee, and watch the snow.. LOL. I really just want to stay in my pajamas all day on a day that I normally would be working. I'm not sure what it is, but feeling like I'm playing hooky seems to really brighten a day, LOL.

Ready to go home, but Jeremy's not off work yet and won't be for a while I guess. We are supposed to go in an hour and 15 minutes to a dinner for his grandma's family at Golden Corral. They were just wanting to get all together before some family heads back home. I was looking forward to it.. because I LOVE their mashed potatoes, haha. Hopefully we can make it.

At least I can sign off from work if I want to since it's finally after 4:30.. :)

Problem was... I had no notes to put on the phone. Lol
I had tried to get the message together for over a month- to no avail. God had given me a thought and a scripture and that's where it stalled out..

Hard to write there. The drool keeps smearing the ink and when I wake up I can't figure out what"blarglesuffer wheezbulb" meant in relation to the Bible.

Been a good day. I went and qualified some folks at the range, then took the rest of the day off.
Since pastor and his wife are gonna be here, along with Taco and Ze 🤡  Clown
I have 1)a pot of pinto beans and ham hocks going 2) fresh bread rising 3) pork loin that has marinated all night smoking 4) and fried taters and a dump cake preparing for dinner. Wish you guys were all here too.

Much needed day off after a long week at work. It's full on inventory prep and I'm getting a lot of work dumped on me. Of course my day off has turned into walking my mom's dog while she is off to Dollywood with a friend and my sister. Having to go get husband breakfast because he overslept his alarm this am AND accidentally took my set of keys to work [need them to get into my moms]. Plus the usual housework that I put off all week.

Tomorrow is going to be hard. It's Pastor Lewis' last service with us. Brandon thankfully has the day off so he can drive home as I'm a blubberous mess.

Thursday night I took the jump and signed up to start being in the toddler room sunday school rotation. I'll be helping to shape young minds [Lord be with them. Haha!]

And as usual we bystanders will have to wait (im)patiently through the teaser posts until Bobby explains what happened... >.>

Possibility A: "Bobby is so good at telling stories in an entertaining way so we want to wait for him to tell it."

Possibility B: "It's not really our story to tell, so we'll let Bobby tell his own story."

Possibility C: "We like to get as much embarrassment as possible from the incident so we're going to post teasers so he will have to explain it himself when he gets to the forum."

I know which one I'm betting on.

Well. In this case, I am not to be blamed, but I'll explain anyhoo.
Sometime back, mini introduced me to an app known as life360.
Basically a tracking app, it's been amazing for me and Lou because we don't have to call to find out where each other is at. An added bonus is that it is very accurate, and has helped locate lost phones a time or two.
We have a "circle " that has me,mini ,and taco on it. We can look and see where each other are. Someone-not me despite mini's allegations- named our homes. Mine got named roscoe's hamshack and salvage, and jerm's got named porter's palace. This, however, was prior to mini and chellebelle buying a house and moving.
Last night chel lets me in on a secret. She, burrito and my nephew were going to surprise the porters and ze clowns. She asked if I could see where they were. I looked at the app, it showed them at porters palace, so I told her they were at home. Unfortunately the surprise was a bit off. They were a couple miles away, at the church.
I'll look a bit closer next time.
And this weekend  was awesome. I totally needed the time with taco and Elona..

Whataya mean you are not to be blamed? By your own admission you are the one who didn't look close enough at the screen. Either you ARE to be blamed or you need to immediately repair to the optometrist for a glasses prescription update. :p

Well, I sure didn't name that location the Palace.  I think you did.  Anyone who likes chocolate gravy has brain issues and goes to figure memory issues.

This has been a good weekend.  Taco and JinbowRingles came in Saturday and we spent several hours together.  JinbowRingles taught my daughter a song on the piano for offering yesterday.  Then Roscoe called me and said "Look outside." I did.  No one was there.  He was confused.  I was confused.  I thought maybe he was fixing to jump out at me, and was figuring to get at least one or two good punches in before he got me.  But, no, it was Burrito and Sunshiney.

Then Sunday, we had a clown attack.  Friends, she attacked the piano.  Woah dude.  She attacked.  Powerful worship.  And Taco began to minster...woah dude.  He spoke about where Jesus is during your storm.  I want Jesus to be inside my heart.

Sunday afternoon, he ministered at a mutual friends church.  JinbowRingles let their kid loose for a bit, then Taco began to share his testimony.  I wept.

Then finally, Sunday evening we packed out our house, and had a time of food and fellowship.

Sunshiney got a ton of photos, maybe she can post them later.

But its been a good weekend.

Now off to my 3rd favorite place....WORK!

This is a good place to mention that Rainbow Jingles had chocolate gravy for breakfast Saturday and your wife never misses the chance to enjoy it at Stick's diner every time y'all come over.
Of course the ladies in question DID marry you and Taco, so the brain issues comment may be accurate, but I ain't the one saying it. :laughhard:
Been a busy day, as usual. When I made it home, I did a bit more tinkering on Rusty- slowly fixing all those little things I've been putting off. And Bro Wilson called, as giddy as a 16 year old boy. Fred, his project 51 Ford for the past five years plus, started from the seat today for the first time. Well, he started from the ignition switch. We ain't rightfully got the seats installed yet.
His first destination thought for a cruise was to Spiro to torment Mini. Lol

work. work. work. I'm currently on brunch [that's lunch for people who start their day at 5 am]. When I go back in though I get to run away in the van. I'm looking forward to a nap this afternoon before prayer. Off tomorrow, woo!!

I only cried twice yesterday about the thought that I may not see 2 of my favorite people again but I got excited when the Bean's started posting pictures of heading east. It's such a mixed feelings situation....

If by "let go" you mean throw a toddler tantrum, shaking me fist, stomping my feet, and going to my room to cry about it every couple hours? Then yes I'm able to. lol

I'm dreading losing some of our elders who are looking so severely elderly at the moment. It makes me cry thinking about it.

Back to work today after being off for 4 days. It was rough getting out of bed. Thankfully I've done like 10 minutes of work since I crawled begrudgingly into my office chair.

All y'all's talk about w*rk is making me tired.

Wednesday is my day off. I got up an hour later than normal and am currently eating a  slice of cherry/chocolate chip cheesecake and a slice of brownie cheesecake.

The forecast today calls for rain, with not a cloud of w*rk in sight. Great day for taking naps.

Life is good.

It's been a tough week at the Henson household. Husband is in a funk and we have a pretty drastic financial situation come up.

Our new pastor will be in town tonight and preaching tomorrow. I'm ready to get this new season going. Transitioning into it has made me moody. Ok, more like moodier.

Where did everybody go?
Yesterday, I enjoyed several hours of driving Rusty..I  have all of his little issues fixed and he is good to go anywhere now. Then I came home, cooked dinner and laid around. All in all, a good day. I gotta drag myself to church in a bit though and end the laying around...
And I totally understand the depression. This time of year gets me too.  My mama passed in September a couple of years ago, Dad the day before thanksgiving in 2009. Couple that with day to day stress, finances, and the holiday season, and I pull back from everyone. Just wanna be alone away from everyone usually from September until January...

I came in to work upbeat. In a good mood. Prayerful. Listening to K-Love. That lasted 30 minutes into the morning, when an offender called, ordered me to reschedule her. I don't do well with orders. I declined to do so, mainly because I am covered up. Offender proceeded to cuss me out, called my supervisor, cussed her out, and informed her that she would get a different officer or she would call the Attorney General. She will be really ticked if she discovers that both the Attorney General and her Chief of Staff are personal friends of mine.

Husband is working until around 8:30.. so I am sitting here killing some time at work. I should probably use this time to my advantage work-wise, but I'll just wait.. LOL.

He's getting that root canal tomorrow, so I won't be working tomorrow either.

Have I mentioned how much I love feeling like I've overslept only to realize that daylight savings time ended? LOL..

I got off work at 5 and was ready to sleep at 6. I miss the sunshine. It definitely has an effect on my mood.

Church yesterday was awesome. It has been such a smooth transition with the Beans stepping into our family. Had a friend pay for my dinner last night so I could go and fellowship with everyone.

Brandon has had trouble come up at school. He took the advice of his grad advisor and now that same advisor has now said due to following his advise, Brandon has lost his TA position for next semester.

And my coworker, oblivious to my desire to lose weight, just brought in something that was surely made in heaven, and the Lord subcontracted marketing to the devil, since it showed up here. Pumpkin Pie M&Ms. Oh Lawd, forgive my sin and hold not these pounds against thy servant.

And the devil also sent York Peppermint Patties, long my other weakness. If he'd thrown in Thin Mints, I'd just curl up in a complete surrender of sugarloaded fat.

Just so you know Bobby, Aldi has thin mints for $0.95 a pack. They are not labeled Thin Mints of course for legal reasons, but they are just as good as the Girl Scout official brand.

So sleepy. I went to bed around 10:30...I think. Cus I was actually really tired and I just felt bleh. Not sickly bleh, but just bleh. And of course the minute I turn the light out I wake up. I was up until after 1am.

Sigh... :sadbounce:

Maybe I just need to start letting myself fall asleep when I'm actually tired and just leave all the lights on. Cus apparently that's the only way I can actually sleep.

I crawled in bed around 2 yesterday cus I was so tired and and I slept for almost an hour.
But I crawl in bed at night...no sleep.

Why!!!!  :cry2:

That right there might be the reason the head of the department hasn't done anything about it. The college is getting two extra semesters of classes out of students.

And finally, after a year of trying, my friend Bro Lawrence, who is in line to be pastor, was able today to sign papers on a very nice used 4 bedroom doublewide. So glad for them!

LOL. The loaner I got has  a screen the size of a postage stamp, and two of the usb ports say "not today", but I have two screens and it is usable and decently fast, so I won't complain. And a friend at the local jail is going to get me killed. I've been coveting a Class C motorhome for a while. It would enable us to vacation in comfort, with Lou and Chey sleeping as long as they want while I drive, AND we could take the puppers.  Low and behold, the devil of a friend has exactly what I want for sale. And they are VERY accommodating on price and terms...
On the bright side, if I do get it and Mama puts me in the doghouse, at least it'll be a comfortable doghouse.

Gross, right? According to The Boston Globe, 30,000-40,000 skin cells fall off you per minute, and on average 8.8 pounds of dead skin cells fall off your body per year. Wow.''

I loathe the cold. As you all know I'm sure from my effortless grin in my ocean profile picture.

I'm currently cozied up in my bed "working" and counting my blessings for being able to work from home.

A dear, dear friend is near meeting the Lord. They could take her off life support today. She's been fighting cancer for several years. I'm very close with her son - since high school. He's backslidden. Both of her boys and husband are. So very burdened today. Have been all week. I think my eyes are cracking at this point. Say a prayer if you think of it for the Villarreal family.

Had a very pleasant visit after church last night with some old friends. Today it is literally freezing. To the north of us a couple counties they actually have snow. I've gotten up and moved the Scotty back under the shed, put Rusty up, topped off Lou's tires which had activated the "low tire pressure " message due to the weather- and that's where my productivity stalled for the day. About 30 minutes worth.
I've only gotten out of my recliner once since then, and that was to get a bowl of Lou's vegetable beef soup. I am not looking forward to work tomorrow.

In tech news, a friend has a laptop with a touch screen, and said touch screen is on the fritz. Can't even log in because the touch screen keeps registering phantom touches all over the place. If you could log in you could disable the touch screen driver, but you can't get anywhere because the touch screen keeps clicking everywhere.

Weird solution: Wipe the screen down with a wet soapy rag. It completes the circuit (and does NOT electrocute you, by the way) and you can log in and disable the driver before it dries.

Moral of the story: Friends have weird computer problems and google is an ever present help in time of trouble.

I do not like touch screens.  Here lately, I must admit not knowing if I like computers. Sadly, they are now a necessity in nearly any type of work setting.
Morning, all. Back at work, can't hear anything out of my stopped up left ear, it's cold, and I'm, as usual, in a less than sterling mood this morning. And it appears I have a metric ton of things to do and people to see. Lord help me.

Eating Chinese food. I could literally live off of Yamato (Japanese) and Panda Express (Chinese). I love it.

We went to test drive vehicles yesterday since Jeremy's truck has reached the point of no return. Hopefully we can make the purchase this month. Jeremy's next day off is unknown at this time, and the next day he probably has time to go after work before the dealership closes.. He will be hopped up on meds I think after a crown. I assume they give you meds for that.. I'm not sure, haha. It will be AMAZING not having to share this car anymore and be able to leave MY workplace at a decent time.

I'm eating a salad. I haven't had one in a week.. but I'm finally trying to get back into my groove haha. I've been on the "winter is here" diet.. where I want everything to be warm and comforting, haha. Yes. It is. TOTS, Prayers appreciated today. Interview for promotion at 1115. I'm reasonably sure I am outclassed, but will give it my best shot anyway. Lou and I prayed about it before we left for work this morning, God's will be done. It'd be a nice recognition, change of pace, and maybe a pay raise which would be appreciated. But if He says no, or not now, I'm in a good place and won't collapse.
One of my competitors has already said if she doesn't get it, she is transferring and leaving our office. She was also miffed that I am competing with her for it. I don't understand that- I encouraged two of my strongest competitors  including the one I feel will be my strongest competition, to apply. My way of seeing it is, the more GOOD people apply, the more likely I will get a boss that is a good person, not a slug, if I am not chosen.  And competition is healthy.

Brandon got a call this morning about an interview this afternoon. Assistant manager at O'Reilly's. As soon seems to be winding up (by force, not choice), Brandon is looking a career and if they pay assistants as much as AZ does, we will be fairly well set given our recent issues. He cant move up at AZ because I'm at the store that promotes through and we cant work together. I cant leave because my store is the only one with my department.

Wowser. Never know what you'll find out. And speaking for myself, I really enjoyed seeing Chel, Robbie and MY mini me. After all, he's cute, cuddly, fat, bald, personable, and occasionally cranky, and loved by all the ladies. Obviously takes after his uncle. :hypocrite:
Still haven't heard a bit about the promotion. Spent all day doing home visits, then came home before Lou drug me out to drop Chey off at youth night at church. We left and went to a local auction. I didn't find any treasures to drag home-EXCEPT- the snack concession at the auction was being manned by a tiny white haired lady from 80 to 90 years old.
I kept seeing big pieces of pie wander by me in the hands of other auction goers. I resisted- until a car buddy recognized me, came over to talk to me, all the while holding the biggest piece of chocolate pie I had ever seen. I gave up and went to investigate. The ancient little lady smiled sweetly, told me she baked them herself from scratch including the amazingly buttery, flakey crust and 3 foot tall meringue.  $3 a slice. Dear. Lord. If ya'll need me on Friday nights, I'll be at the auction, as long as she is there. She had coconut cream and Lemon Meringue too, but I didn't get any further than the chocolate tonight. Next week, I shall try another flavor....:fork:
Now I'm in the depths of despair, because I just finished balancing my checkbook. I really hope I don't drop it- it'll take me a week to catch the rubber thing.

:hi: At work. Coincidentally- or not- today is not nearly as pretty.  Half dreading, half anticipating the weekend. The dread part comes in because we are having company Wednesday night. We are having a early Thanksgiving meal because Lou has to work Thursday afternoon and our friends who are still currently staying in a 5th wheel travel trailer has to work that morning. So we are going to eat Wednesday night since we are not having church. The down side is, I have to work that day, as does Lou, so I'm making the dressing tonight, and generally doing all of the prep work tonight and tomorrow night. Then when I get off, I'll pop the ham in the oven and the corn in the smoker, as well as get the dump cake and any pies ready to go.
Next year- no company. LOL

Plans have changed and I am going to Arkansas to see my parents for Thanksgiving by myself. I'm going to miss the husband, BUT I'm glad he won't be completely exhausted from all the driving when he gets back to work on Friday morning to deliver all that crazy mail. They're expecting to work pretty late on Wednesday before Thanksgiving as well. So at least he'll be less tired I hope and he has family up here so he's going to be surrounded by family anyway.

I was able to get the new vehicle on Saturday. Big purchases make me sick and worry, BUT.. we'll figure it all out over time hahaha. It's a 2019 Subaru Ascent in Crimson Red Pearl color. She's a beauty, and we are very happy about the safety on this vehicle. Good so far, haha.

We love Subaru's around our house!

I had all weekend off and pretty much spent it worrying myself sick holed up in my house. Good grief. I annoy myself most of the time.

Currently in middle of a 12 hour shift because the big boss forgot to schedule a 3rd person for our department today. Midweek service tonight instead of prayer since Thursday is our usual evening.

And yea, Robbie and I compared timelines and we lived across the street from each other for about a year when I was just 4 years old. It's so weird how everyone is connected somehow.

Well. The promotion went to a friend of mine. I was disappointed, although I knew it was the likely result. I was moping around about it, when God spoke to me, and said "You asked My will- now stop sulling up when My will and yours don't mesh."  Yes sir.
I couldn't sleep last night anyhow, so I wound up in the office at 6 am. Got a ton done though. Ready for the weekend....boss emailed and said we can bail at 3pm...I'm glad, I've gotta rush home and get dinner cooking for everyone.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

My favorite Holiday! My only wishes are that I could be with my dad and that my momma and grandma were here so we could have the Thanksgiving like we used to... Every year I miss my mom and grandparents more every year. Whoever said ''time heals all wounds'' must have been talking about papercuts.

Update, now that I have a minute while all of my oven is full.
So, the boss emails me and says she is bringing  my computer back.
She shows up today and has me come outside.  She took my 10 year old 100k plus work truck away from me.
And gave me a 3k mile 2019 ford explorer  to drive.
Then just she and I talked about the promotion.  I told her that I was happy for my friend  and I didn't want her to misconstrue what I was asking....then i asked her to critique  my interview  and tell me what I could improve  for the next time this opportunity  arose.
She teared up. She told me my interview  was amazing  and had blown her away. I beat out 7 college degrees folks with more time. The final choice was between  me and my friend.
She is not religious,  but said she cried and prayed  over it. She said she finally picked my friend because he worked in a different office  and wouldn't have the issues of supervising people that he had worked with for years. She
told me there was nothing I could've improved  and she hoped that the new work vehicle would prove to me how valuable  she and the other supervisors  felt I was to the agency.  She told me that the next time a position comes open I should definitely apply.
It made my day. See, I know for a fact 3 of the people I competed against  had tons more time. One was my training officer when I hired in. To beat her out was truthfully very satisfying, although I would not tell her that.

"Misadventures, I've had a few / But then again, too few to mention"

But I'll mention this week's misadventure anyway.

This week I am visiting my mother in East Tennessee. I was supposed to get off w*rk Tuesday, get a good night's sleep and start driving Wednesday morning.

BUT...

I started thinking, why waste the time Tuesday between the end of w*rk and bedtime? I could start driving Tuesday night, take a nap in the Wal-Mart parking lot (which IS legal btw) in Knoxville and be at McKay's used bookstore as soon as they open in the morning, then continue on to Mom's.

Two things I neglected to take into account. 1 - there is no comfortable place to sleep in a minivan. 2 - it got really cold Tuesday night, so I had to keep turning the vehicle on to warm up the place a bit. Didn't get a bit of sleep. I was running all day yesterday on (intentional) hyperventilation and caffeine.

I stopped by Shoney's for breakfast Wednesday and found the second cause of dismay. The peaches on Shoney's breakfast bar are no longer fresh-frozen! They are bland, bleh, canned peaches. This was a serious gastronomic blow because I have always looked forward to the peaches that taste like real peaches.

So I got to Mom's. As I neared the end of a LONG day... my half brother mentions he has to deliver Thursday newspapers at 10pm Wednesday night. AND they are really heavy because Black Friday advertisements. AND the big pack of ads has to be put into every paper. So late at night, needing sleep badly, freezing cold, I'm driving around putting papers together and rubber banding them while bro runs them to houses.

So yeah, last night I slept very well.

Only about 56 CDs. Haven't listened to them yet to see if I even like any of them. But some are from singers I already have albums from in my collection, so I'm fairly certain I'll like at least a few of the latest haul.

No southern gospel though. You can relax.

Really lazy though. I should be up doing things, like cleaning out the shop. Its just to cold and dreary.

Went to Mom's for Thanksgiving. Came home. That is all.

On the way to Mom's I hit the McKay's bookstore in Knoxville. On my way back I hit the McKay's in Nashville. The one in Nashville was much better. I got 142 CDs, according to the receipt. It also took more than twice as long to plow through that big section, more than six hours.

Nashville McKay's also made up for a blow my ego received at the Knoxville branch. I consider myself at least a semi-pro music nerd because I spend hours going through all the CDs in the bargain/scratched area, section by section. At Knoxville I met two guys who go there four or five times a week and look through the whole thing. They picked up stacks in one hand, scanned the whole stack in 1.7 seconds and put them back. Apparently they know all the CDs by the patterns of colors on the end of the cases or something. They went through the whole area in about 20 minutes and got a good 15 or so CDs. And they do this four or five times a week? I'm not even an amateur by that standard!

At the Nashville McKay's my ego was salved a bit. I was going through each section methodically and a guy who was glancing through the area asked me if I worked there. I said, "No I'm just thorough."

Yesterday marked 1 year since my dad woke up in his own bed. He went to the hospital and didn't make it back to his earthly home. This holiday season is going to be a doozy. I think last year we were exhausted from the hospital marathon then just numb by Christmas.

We had ridiculously, amazing, awesome church yesterday.

Today we got the notice from our landlord that work on our bathroom starts tomorrow evening. Me, husband, Whisk, Ollie, and ToeFur will be heading to my mom's for the duration of the redo. Pray it only takes the 3 days estimated and we get back home. I love my mom but she has been dumping A LOT of her emotions and etc on me to the point we are debating spending Christmas with church family instead of family family.

Also, I have dinner with my pastor's wife tomorrow. She initiated a sit down with me once they got settled. Either this will be awesome or they have been warned about me. lol.

Work.

Had a completely unexpected blessing yesterday.  Bank manager became friends with my wife as soon as we moved into our area.  She texted my wife and said she needed to swing by our house.  Not expected, but they arranged a time.  She shows up with another manager from the bank, and they told us that each branch of the bank was asked to choose a family from their bank that they could bless.  They gave us a vacation package AND spending money for Christmas!

We were in tears.  Totally blew us away.

I'm so sleepy.

Headed to the dentist in half an hour to pay for Jeremy's visit today. He is having his 2nd crown appointment and finishing his last three quadrants of periodontal cleaning. I think I'm going to be cooking some pasta to make with the turkey for supper tonight so he has something soft to eat. It also happens to sound absolutely delicious to me.

I ----think---- they are starting on our roof this week. Our original expected completion date for our roof was Oct 31st. It's now a month later.. BUT - at least it's still happening, haha. We have had a small hiccup with our chimney and needing to get HVAC opinion on what needs to be vented and how, BUT it's forward movement. I'm amazingly the least stressed of myself and my husband on this, haha. I'm usually the worrywart.

I still have to purchase gifts for three kiddos, four couples, and possibly Jeremy - all family. We are supposed to be doing something for sunday school as well, but I haven't heard the official report on how that's all going down yet. I need to get in gear. I was doing SO well with gift buying until the fall. I have only like 3 people done. Most of those 'couples' gifts are just a gift card because they are ridiculously difficult to buy for and buy what they want/need anyway (like me.. LOL), so it makes everyone happier to just get gift cards to places they like or maybe won't spend money to go to.

We had a good Thanksgiving. I got to see some Oklahoma/Massachusetts/Arkansas/Texas family all in Alpena, AR. :) Jeremy did not get to go of course. He worked hard all week/end tho. I had parts of three different turkeys - two baked and one smoked. The smoked was my favorite - my husband's. I came home to a cajun smoked turkey, sour cream & chive mashed potatoes, sauteed asparagus with fried bacon pieces, Sis Schubert rolls, and of course, cranberry sauce. So I've been thinking of ways to re-purpose this turkey so that my leftover-hating husband can eat, haha.

It's been cold this week so far. I thought it was going to be warmer the first two days, but no.. below 32 for most of my morning, haha. Thank you Lord for an office job!

Congrats Mini!

Heather - I hope it's the GOOD one! Getting connected to your shepherd and their family is such a great thing. I'm glad they're taking the step to personally invest in you! Everyone needs a good pastor & pastor's wife!

My heater stays running 99.9% of the time at work.. It's bliss.

Ok. I gotta rant. If you can't boil water without scorching it, you should NOT use the office kitchen! For the last week I have came into the office to a stench. The woman who works for the public defender's office, with whom our office shares a kitchen, apparently cannot cook. She gets to the office before everyone else and proceeds to make her breakfast. I guess she doesn't have a kitchen at home. The office smells like she burnt her shoes for breakfast EVERY morning. An occasional "oops" I can see, but every morning?!?! Sheesh. I'll be glad when they move after the first of the year.
Morning all. My grumpy self is back in the stench ridden office for a bit, and I have court today. Bah. They are also fixing to change some of our scheduling up. This means I might get a week or so a month with a four day work week...

I think I'll grump too.

I thought I had a Third Day album. The CD inside was a collection album with mostly black choir.

What's wrong with that? Not a thing in the world. I like black choir. But it's not Third Day. Also it's a collection album, different songs from different groups, and some of them I don't like. I would rather have had what was supposed to be in the case.

One of the guys from our church went and got it- so he got the meat and then proceeded to use the innards to teach his young daughters their anatomy lessons for the day. Lol. They got to see the heart and other stuff. One was excited. The other not so much. Lol.

Sis Bean and I spent 3 hours talking over smoothie bowls. It was glorious.

Our bathroom floor was repaired this week in less than 48 hours. I was impressed considering they had to go all the way down to the joist. I think I spelled that right. ::shrug:: But we spent those 48 hours at my mom's house. It went better than I expected it to, but I was sure glad to get home yesterday afternoon.

It's been cold and now it's rainy. Picked up some extra hours tomorrow at work. Now to do some laundry, decorate our "tree" and sketch out December's budget.

:hi: Shew. Thank the LORD it is Friday. This week has been obviously the Lord's, since " one day is with the Lord as a thousand years" (2 Peter 3, verse eight). I could almost believe this week has been 7,000 years long.
Went out and grabbed a couple home visits, now I'm killing time in the office until quitting time. I've ALMOST got my hearing back in my left ear. I hate head colds.
And finally in my shotgun style sharing, Lou is miffed. She came out of Walmart last night and went to open her car door, only to have the handle come off in her hand. She had to crawl over the console, and moaned bitterly about it. The handle had two little plastic tabs that broke off. I ordered a new one on ebay, but it won't be here until Wednesday. I've got it rigged right now, if she is careful it will work, but if not, she is in for morning calisthenics every time she gets in until then. This makes her less than happy.  Oh well, I tried- all the local parts stores and the dealership would have to order it...

I hear ya Bro. Bobby. My Mazda MPV apparently has a bullet-proof powertrain... and everything else is cheap plastic. I've had three door handles fail so far, plus a whole lot of minor stuff broke off. I've done a fair amount of jury rigging that you have to be careful with.

Protip: With enough epoxy a temporary fix can be made into a permanent one that you don't have to be so careful with. It looks a sight, and it's not reversible, and if you care how your car looks you should not do it, but it works very well for me.

In sharing.

Bad storms here Friday night.  Tore up a lot of stuff north of me.

Had to take the dog to the vet Saturday.  She had/has a kidney infection.  I knew she wasn't feeling good when she didn't try to eat the vet.  Guess I need to give her cranberry juice.

I also did home visits.

Sunday we had good church.

Sunday afternoon, my BIL called, and he brought us some boudain balls, straight from Lousiana.  *whew*

Sunday evening we made peanut brittle.

Now I am at work, fighting issues caused by Friday's storms.

I'm so thankful all those scary storms did not hit our small area! They went north of us and devastated some areas tho. :(

Roscoe.. Our Elantra's back driver's side door handle came off too. It's SO irritating. I'm thankful that it's no longer our family vehicle and my husband is supposed to fix it sometime.. i.e. I no longer have to deal with it anyway, haha.

I think I'm basically done shopping for Christmas. My dad is so hard to buy for that he kinda gets lumped into mom's presents. She's TOO easy to buy for. All I have left are a couple of gift cards for the husband's family, but everything else is done.

Also.. I'm hungry. I had spicy tuna w/ Ritz crackers and shredded cheddar cheese.. and I barely choked it down. I didn't want it, I don't seem to like it anymore, but that's what was in my drawer! lol.. I need to make some extra food tonight for lunches!

Also.. I need a nap.

That's it.

Sitting here at my desk, just two hours into the work day. Fighting tears, because I just got word one of my childhood spiritual heroes, Rev Gene Sorrells, slipped into eternity this morning. Everyone knew it was coming, and truthfully it is all around better, but still, it is so hard seeing someone you've admired and looked up to for years leave. If you know her, or even if you don't, please say a prayer for Sis Sorrells. This is going to be doubly hard for her- their only son, Joel, passed a few years ago on December 5th, and now, Bro Sorrells- gonna make for a real hard time.

And in sharing, I felt poorly yesterday, wanted to go home and lay down. Instead, I got roped into going and helping a friend who had no other help move a washer and dryer. And no, it couldn't be across town- it was the other side of Little Rock. I didn't get in until after 9 pm...

A capstone is a completion course of sorts. It combines your entire program into once class assignment. Basically taking everything you've learned over the course of your schoolwork and putting it to the test.

Kind of like a thesis paper. And it cost me about $1800. haha

What is the point of making a budget when 1 of the 2 people in this house goes rogue every.single.pay.period....

Mind you, it's the 1 of us who doesn't take care of any of the bills when they are due and who is the one who brings home the most money. By the time I end up scurrying around to get everything taken care of while he has who knows what in his account, I'm left with roughly 50 bucks to last me 2 weeks and I hope he remembers to pay the rent....

In other news, bambi ran into my car on the way to church the other night and somehow, according to my sister and mother, it was my fault and I don't respect my dad's things. Mind you, we've taken over the car payments and it's literally a hand length scuff and barely noticable dent on the passenger side rear door. I haven't told them yet that we have also opted to go to a church family's house for Christmas so I'm sure I'll be the favorite once that is found out.

Isaac, I'm slightly singed on that entire genre. Or at least I was then.

And re:budget...heather I totally understand.  I'm the budget nerd in our family. Fast food restaurants seem to totally  sabotage  ours, leaving me feeling like no one realizes the work that goes into paying the essentials.

It's a cold rainy day. I've spent the day I intended to relax on helping Cheyenne complete an overdue history paper. After about 6 hours work in the last two days it is done...and I put her to work on the rest of her homework.  She came back in snotting for help. Help on...a composition in English.  I flipped my stack. She's about to get a rare from daddy butt beating.
Ive got a pasta bake of my own creation in the oven now for dinner when lou gets in and a blueberry cheesecake waiting for the oven. And the place is clean.  I better not hear any yelling tonight..

Woke up to snow. Knew I had to go to work anyway. Chose to take the manual Yaris since I've driven it in the snow before. Did awesome getting to work but after 3 hours and more inches of snow later, it got across the parking lot but no where else. I had to walk home in 7-8 inches of snow. Not a single person offered help or a ride and I had at least 20+ trucks and SUVs passing me. Thanks y'all....

Now home in my jammies. Football and chilli. Everything is pretty much shutting down. No church, etc. The snow varies from 5 inches to almost 2 foot in our area.

They've been coming to visit here in the summer since our parents are increasing in age. I think he gets a little more homesick these days than he cares to admit. :)

Well, Daddy and Mama are both gone here. And I have one sister I'm close to- the others I love but might as well live on the other side of the world. One lives in the town I work and the other 15 miles away. I've saw them maybe twice since mama passed in 2016.
I have a question  for the board though. I have a 14 year old great nephew. Good kid, quiet, a reader. Has never had any church experience at all. He has told me he's an agnostic. He's not hostile or ridiculing about God, just doesn't see it. I love this kid and I'm praying for him. He and I have talked some about different religions too. How, short of a God thing, do you go about explaining our core beliefs when the very foundation that faith is built on, God and the Bible, are dismissed?
I feel like this kiddo really would like to know more. In no way would I force our belief on anyone but I want to be sensitive and able to answer any questions he may have. Ultimately it will be up to him to "work out his own salvation " and make the right choice, but I want him to know there IS more to life than this.

Dina moved to El Paso, so that is probably a good 12-13 hrs away. As far as she could go and still be in Texas. Which is much better than Cambodia or Abu Dhabi.

At least Chel is only a little over an hour away.

Quote from: Roscoe on December 12, 2018, 01:55:16 AMWell, Daddy and Mama are both gone here.
I don't know the answer. I had someone ask me something similar recently. I told her to have the person to ask God "if you're real, please show me"
Other than that, he needs to get in God's presence somehow to feel Him.

:hi: Morning all. the crud of the winter months has hit our house again. Lou and Chey are trying to get in to see the doctor so they can get a Z-pak or something to head this cold junk off. Just one more reason I hate winter. And it's raining again. It seems like we've gotten more rain in this past year than in the last 2 combined. Getting ever so close to a weekend- and ever so close to Christmas. Christmas- well, I hate the general commercialism of the season, but the bright side is my own little gift to myself- the entire week from the weekend of before Christmas Eve to the day after New Year's off of work. Blessed peace...

I hate having sinus drainage that moves around in your head. Ugh. You get all comfy on one side and that one nostril finally opens up and you can breathe- but forbid you have to turn over! That whole mass of fluid slowly goes through your sinuses like through a hourglass timer and you start out being able to breathe, but it slowly gets clogged off for a few minutes meaning you are fully awake and feel like you are suffocating... and then when it all gets to the other side you can finally drift back off to sleep. Till you have to reposition again. Ugh.

Bobby: About your great-nephew, observational evidence and logical extrapolation are probably the ways to go. To wit: How did everything get here? If it was a big bang, where did the stuff come from that exploded out into a universe? How did life become so intricate and complex in a universe where every observable thing left to its own devices tends to chaos and entropy?

Chel: Ugh, I know! And what's worse yet is the possibility that if you flip over BOTH sides will remain clogged for a long time. Bleh! You gotta flip because you can't sleep all night on one side, but you don't wanna because you never know if you'll be awake for two hours until your sinuses finally shift.

Ugh yes so frustrating. I had to stop at the pharmacy this morning for some advil cold & sinus. It's getting ridiculous. Now I have to stop and get some allergy meds after work. It's insaaaane. I am going to try to get into an allergist and see about getting that allergy shot, Kenalog. Corey seemed to do wonderful after having it, and I have got to stop having to take allergy pills all the time.

Well. The rain finally stopped. I STILL have this stupid head cold.  And I've spent the day as a "me" day, with Lu at work and Chey at grandma's. What did I do? Old man things. I went to the library and grumbled to myself about the kids there, went to the parts store and told the 10 year old behind the counter what serpentine belt I needed for Rusty and grumbled to myself when he "needed" to know whether it was a two wheel drive or a 4 wheel drive, went to Walmart and grouched to myself about the kids in the way there while I bought Rusty's Christmas present, aka a new battery... and that's where my grinchy self got nailed. Old man standing at the exit holding a sign. I thought " great another moocher". Then I recognized him. A pastor of the local Pentecostal Holiness church and one of my friends. The sign simply said " Jesus is STILL the reason for Christmas." Moved me to tears, thinking about how I had prejudged him and how I had often overlooked the reason for the season.  I posted a sappy fb post about it, then went grocery shopping. Somehow, the people at the grocery store didn't irritate me near as bad.
Partly because it convicted me...and partly because the pastor in question- I know his life. We disagree doctrinally, but he is as holiness and good a man as I have ever met. About 3 years ago his wife of 50+ years passed away. It left him broken. They had married as high school sweethearts and they never did anything apart. He's been alone, no kids, no family, just his little church every since. He's literally lost 200 lbs...but through it all, every time I see him in the store he hugs me and tells me how good God is.

When there is nothing to say, don't say it.

I could come up with something to talk about, but it would not be consequential, relevant or even amusing. So I don't.

Okay I have something amusing.

Work schedules go from Wednesday to the next Tuesday. They just put the schedules for the next work week out a few minutes ago. I always work Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday... but according to the schedule they just now posted, I am off next Tuesday.

Wait, what!? Business is picking up, not slowing down. Why am I off next Tuesday when I always work that day?

Oh wait... Never mind.

Tonight marks a year since Dad up and skeedaddled on us. I can't stop crying today which is kinda embarassing considering I'm working until 2. Thankfully my 2 coworkers today knew dad and are being incredibly gracious to me. The main manager today is my husband's friend so I know I won't get yelled at.

It's been tough the last few weeks. Not only is it the time of year but this garnishment on my check is putting a hurting on us. In a months time, they've taken out over 300 of my pay. It's bad. As in, I can't afford the gas to get back and forth to church. So it looks as if I'm heading back to my "home" church as it is only 5 minutes away instead of 40. Im praying about it.

I'm sorry, Heather. I know what it feels like on the Dad situation. Tomorrow will be my daddy's 74th birthday. He's been gone 9 years as of this past Thanksgiving, and I miss him more every day. The pain never goes away. It dulls to a point that you can function, but it's always there, especially if you were close to them. Some days, I can be driving down the road and smell a scent, or hear one of his favorite songs, or even see a truck like he had, and I'm off to crying. And yes, I know that isn't manly, and no, I don't care.

And the garnishment- right after Lou and I married, a former friend sued me and garnished my check. I still think it was unjust and not right, but-we got through it. Hardest time of our life- adapting to each other, which is hard enough. Within the first two months, my check was garnished, and Lou lost her job. I remember sitting at the kitchen table, trying not to cry, feeling like a complete failure because I'd let this happen. She and I talked it out, prayed about it, and wrestled with the choice of tithe or light bill. Tithe won- we took it to pastor that night, didn't tell him why, just took it over and dropped it off before we lost our nerve and paid bills.
A friend called the next day. Offered me a part time job serving papers. Until Lou got her job and the garnishment was done, those papers came in to be served. People everyone had been looking for were at the last residence they'd had (I had to serve them to get paid). One couple were there cleaning a house they'd moved from. One day later they'd have been in another state. One guy was at his job to pick up his last check. $40 a pop, time after time. Lou got hired at Walmart, and I got hired at Morrilton PD. I've not served another paper since, not received so much as an invitation to do so. It was our Manna.
Bottom Line- and it's easier to say than to live, I know from experience- trust God. Put Him first. And the blessings WILL roll in. Even when you see no way.

And in other sharing- Today. Wednesday. Thursday. Friday. Then a glorious 10 days off. The ONE thing I love about this season- other than the Reason, of course.

Some friends and I had a discussion last week between 'good' grief and bad grief. Where some people just wallow years upon years..or they never really move forward = bad grief. And others where there gets to a point where you have to move on. But it's okay to remember them, or honor them but not dwell on it = good grief.

I have moments when I think about where my friend used to sit in our sanctuary and knowing I'll never see her sitting there ever again, sometimes it hits me in church. I honestly cannot even give space in my mind to think about losing a parent. It's probably one of my legit real fears.

And same same. Gotta get thru the next 3 days of work then I'm OFF until the 31st. Lots of issues are arising with work though. Always happens the few days leading up to Christmas.

My day off, again, like every Wednesday.

I'm making bread... again... like it seems I do every Wednesday. I sure have been making bread a lot the past month or so. But it's my go-to Christmas present for a lot of people I know at church and work, and there are a lot of bake sales this time of year that seem to be requesting I donate some bread to sell and... it goes.

All I want for Christmas is a chest freezer big enough to hold about 430 loaves of bread. Then I could fill it up over the year and not have so much baking to do at the end.

I have good and bad days. The days I expect to be bad aren't that bad but it's the times that grief just smacks you in the face at the weirdest times. Like walking through the grocery store on a random tuesday or driving to work. Those are the times it's hard. I'm just thankful that I seem to be the one dealing with it better in my immediate family but I'm also the only one in church. I'm sure there is a correlation there.

As far as the finance/church issue, my non-HG filled husband started the conversation to end that debate. I got home from a ladies christmas party and he told me that he really likes our new pastor and his family at my current church and we will figure out how to get there when the doors are open. He's being drawn there and I'm not going to be the one to stop it.

Now to get dressed and out the door to my moms house. We are doing food, a balloon release at my dad's favorite place, then going to the pinball arcade that he talked about going to all the time. They opened right before he went into the hospital and he never got to make it. Mom, my sister, and I went last year between his funeral and christmas. He would love that place.

Heather there's definitely a correlation. There's a reason He states He'll be our comforter!

JenN I hear ya. "But I CAN'T work Friday, that's my family's Christmas party! Look you can put me on the schedule if you wanna but I won't be there." Fine I'll add your name to the list of people who refuse to work that day. And everybody treats (whatever the situation they want to get out of work for) as very critical, far more important than the reasons everybody else wanted that day off.

Heather: Ooooh, a pinball arcade! Haven't seen a single pinball machine in years. Upkeep on all those moving parts just gets too much I guess.

We have 2 in the area now. 1 in Bristol and 1 in Johnson City. There is a pinball museum over in Asheville NC and I think I read they are doing one in Knoxville soon.

Made it through the day. We released balloons at the dam [dad's favorite spot], went out to eat at one of his favorite restaurants [my sister only had 1 drink], then onto the arcade.

Pray I can make it through today. It's the last day before my supervisors vacation and I'm sure he will be super obnoxious. Imagine a 10 year old boy who somehow is man size but with several medical issues. So on bad days, he's obnoxious to the point of not getitng stuff done because he is too busy "joking" and cutting up. On worse days, he's laid out in the floor thinking he is dying. There are no good days unless you count the days he's not on the schedule.

I CANNOT believe that ya'll  would think I would flip someone off.  :o
Punch them out, yes.
And in the past, in what I call my dark days, cuss them out- unfortunately I must confess to having done that too, but thankfully that is under the blood.
And there HAVE been times in my life that my fingers were injured due to improper use of them as an impact weapon.
But I have never been one  to flip someone off. I'm really not that passive aggressive. :laughhard:

Thank the LORD it is Friday. Ten glorious days off coming up. So far today I have dealt with three offenders, threatened two with prison, and had to complete a mega important Critical Incident report for another officer who is off or work this morning's offender.

And I got to speak with my two favorite bosses too. I am REALLY fortunate to have bosses that I absolutely love and trust. And my Christmas present from them was a custom made granite coaster with the agency logo and my name silkscreened on it.

:hi: So. I was glad to make it to Friday....now I have time off. Yesterday, Chey and I went to North Little Rock to the only known butcher shop in Central Arkansas (our local butcher shop, John's, burned down a few months ago and apparently isn't coming back :sadbounce: ) and got our traditional Christmas steaks. Then on the way home, I stopped and got something that is apparently going to eat all of my time up.  A couple years ago, Nintendo made an "anniversary edition" game console that was a miniaturized version of the original Nintendo. Over 600 game preloaded on it, including my favorite, SuperMario Brothers. They went like hotcakes, were apparently a limited edition and people were scalping them for $200-$400; they originally sold for around $60.

A friend of mine had one posted on Facebook Market place for $25 new in the box. I got it. Now all of my plans have disappeared while I fought the dragons. When I finally defeated them, they went off in the bedrooms calling me names and I could play the game system all by myself. :laughhard:

Okay, I totally should not have implied Lou and Chey were dragons, but I think they were breathing fire when I mentioned I wanted to play too.
I got up this morning and at Lou's request made homemade biscuits, fried bologna, and chocolate gravy. Now I'm vegging when I should be cleaning..

My friend got one of them Nintendo things. Total blast from the past.

When you said that part about fighting the dragons I thought you were talking about the fourth level of all the Mario worlds. Bowser sure did have a lot of ringers for you to rescue before you got to the real princess. With all that subterfuge of kidnapping seven fakes, you'd think he would put better defenses around his castles, stuff one unarmed plumber couldn't get through...

Ah. My inner Grinch rejoiced as I took down the garlands and bows, and stacked up the M&M characters until next year. I did go take a last gasp at being festive and bought some half- price christmas-y decorations for next year though. Maybe that redeems me from total scrooge-hood.
Did a little grocery shoppig, drove Rusty for the first time in weeks, and just generally have enjoyed the day. I got to go over to the Lawrenced and see their new to them double wide being brought in and set up. Dear Lord, it is huge. Like 80 feet long by 32 feet wide. With four kids under the age of 12, I'm sure it'll still feel too small at times..
And I'm entering the pre-dread phase for next week. Next Wednesday will be here all too fast.....

Its raining here.  Its 4:40 am, and I've been awake since 3ish.

Gracie the German Shepherd decided that the thunder was scary and laid down...right at the head of the bed. 80 pounds of furry dog at 3 am will cause quite a startling response...lol

Wait, what? What happens next Wednesday?

In local news, my dog stinks but I don't want to give him a bath because he is an outside dog and would freeze. So I tried one of those dry shampoo powder sprays. It worked surprisingly well. Now instead of smelling like stinky dog he smells like a lemon. Maybe next time I can find one without such a heavy smell. But it does work to get stinky dog smell out, not just cover it up.

I have to return to work, that's what happens. :pound: I could totally be a wealthy man of leisure- If I could just get the "wealth" part.
And Mini's rains made it over here, drowned my outdoor plans for the day, and have left. Now I'm trying desperately to make myself get motivated, clean the house up, and do something instead of wasting a vacation day by doing nothing.

And I'm having to keep myself from going to the local flea market. They have a 1930s-1940s kitchen buffet/china cabinet that I want BADLY. It's old white painted pine, with red trim, a beautiful white and red porcelain top, and has a flour bin built in it. I'm in love. AND it will a) fit in the dining room b) look awesome doing it and c) matches the color scheme. BUT- they want $375 for it. :sadbounce: If it were $200 I'd be in trouble, because I'd break the budget and live on bologna sandwiches for two weeks for it..

:hi: Morning all.  I got up, as usual in an eating mood. So I made French toast, and fried hot dogs. This put me in a questioning mood- what do they call French toast in France? Why is a hot dog called a hot dog, when it is neither hot, nor dog? I figured I better stop cooking and musing at that point, since it was getting deep...
Now, I need to go clean up in the yard, and make the outside of the house look decent. I am totally dreading the end of vacation..

Man. Everyone has forgotten GP.:sadbounce:

Still miss all you nuts who used to post here- Sippin Tea, Cheese-head, and all the rest...

It's back to raining, although thankfully it is just a drizzle and is supposed to end tomorrow. Just a few more hours let in 2018. Looking back on it.... It's been a difficult year in some ways. Loss wise, hasn't been as bad for me personally as 2016 was, but it's been challenging financially and spiritually.
I've accomplished not very many of my goals for the year- I won't do "resolutions" but I would like to start the new year off in a better manner than before. My goal financially next year is to pay at least one major debt off, and get Lou on the same financial page with me, instead of her lack of interest in it.  Trying to keep from making an offer on a early 1900's Victorian house that is for sale in my town. It needs some work, but the bones are solid. I am bad tempted to put our house up for sale and buy it. It would doubtless keep me busy for the rest of my life. It would also eat up every dime I will have, but man, the character of the home...

My goal spiritually is to get "me" right- more of Him and less of me. This is more of a challenge than the finances. I need to be more outgoing and more Christlike, when my nature is to pull away from everyone and withdraw into myself, lashing out at folks who hurt me, which is not what He would do. This year, I have saw myself withdraw more and dread speaking in public more than usual, and my spiritual life has suffered.

Physically, I HAVE to lose some weight. Like the 50 lb I lost in 2015-16, then gave up and let come back.

And in day to day living- I want to stop taking the little blessings in life for granted. Slow down and smell the roses, as it were, and enjoy the time I have with those I love. Try to tell those I love how much they mean to me, and show them in little ways when they least expect it.

If you do resolutions my friends, resolve to let Him have His way and guide you - on the mountaintops and in the valleys. May God bless each of you here in a mighty way and may the next year find you closer to Him and in a happier place than ever before.

Yesterday was a 2-fer. My friend Micah and his family moved to the area from Mississippi to take over his step dad's chuch. [Jay was my friend who passed on Father's Day]. So I wandered up the road to Chilhowie to set in during their 1st service. It was a beautiful service. Then I went to my church in the afternoon. I love those people. It's a 30+ minute drive for me, but it's completely worth it. With our current financial situation, they have been a HUGE blessing. The church is giving us a gift card to take care of a large chunk of our grocery bill. ALSO they are insisting I go to ladies conference this year and will let me pay back as I can. These people are the BEST!!

The new budget goes into full effect starting NOW. We are both on board and excited. We had agreed no trips or vacations for the year of 2019 which is why the church taking care of ladies conference is a big deal to me. We are going to do all we can for debt in 2019 then start saving for an anniversary trip for our 5th in 2020 [we never had a honeymoon either...]. We can do this!

Cool and dreary here. I'm ready for summer, folks.

I didn't take today off either.. only because I feel bad for missing so many days here lately. I missed 20-21 for family Christmas in Arkansas. We didn't work 24-25 for Christmas. I missed the 27th due to sickness. I wish I had taken off today too.. but I also need to get some year-end things done. I will be working lots of extra time in the evenings to make sure things are done for our CPAs.

My big plans tonight = pajamas. My tomorrow plans = Hobby Lobby (if Jeremy's off work) and if not, more pjs.. LOL..

I am SOOO tired of rain. And if one more person tells me "we will want this rain in August", I may catch a charge and have to be bailed out of my own jail.

Just got back from Urgent Care with Lou. Her blood pressure has been really high. Like at one point it was 192/102. No, not a misprint. She called to get into the doctor today but they couldn't get her in until tomorrow. When they heard her blood pressure readings they told her to go to Urgent Care. Hardhead worked the rest of the day and I made her go when we got home. Her B.P was down to 130 ish over high 90s then...they changed her meds and tomorrow she will see our normal Doctor.
She doesn'tlike it when I am right, but she tends to take the meds for a few days then forgets them until her BP goes back up. I've told her that is inviting a stroke...

I'm here... The last few weeks I've been very sick and totally exhausted. Don't know what's wrong. Hopefully, the nurse practitioner who I trust more than the mass majority of most doctors can handle it without any lab work. We can't afford and see her and get labs because insurance is worthless till I pay $2100-$3000 out-of-pocket. They refused to cover them the last 5 days of last year when I had orders in hand. After I had to pay it all insurance is fine with the 6 test she needed to run. I don't think stress is helping my recovery...

It literally took over 3 hours to type and make sure made sense to post this... No sleep=insanity...

Eating lunch. (Leftovers from last night.) Jeremy made bow tie pasta with bacon & chicken. Dressing is olive oil. Includes much garlic, haha. He was like "Might want to warn your coworkers tomorrow when you go to warm your lunch up." So I did, LOL. Parmesan cheese is probably the most overwhelming small from all of it. But this is DELICIOUS - even more so when it's freshly prepared.

Dentist appointment at 5pm. I need to learn to make those early morning appointments, because I loathe going from work to the dentist. I'd rather just work late to make up for missing in the morning. Note to self for next time! I also might loathe these visits less if we actually had dental insurance. Jeremy's will take us this whole year to pay of from just having periodontal treatments, BUT I'm thankful we had CareCredit to help us get a very important treatment done so that he would keep his teeth a little longer. I should not complain. :/

Carpooled with Jeremy the last two mornings. I regret it every morning when the alarm goes off, haha. BUT it might've saved a few dollars in gas I hope, plus we got to spend time together in the evening/morning alone with no distraction except for the road. That's good together time.

I don't know if it's a forget thing or if she doesn't like the way it makes her feel... The doctor told her today that he feels like it is probably a combination of her not taken her meds properly, and the tooth pain she has been having. She had a root canal done o a bottom molar last year. Then they wanted to re-cap it. They haven't recapped  it yet, and the temporary cap is hurting her. I've told her to go get it fixed, but she's put it off, not wanting to cause us to spend the money as it wasn't hurting her.
Now, the dentist won't touch her until the blood pressure is down, and the blood pressure is up in part due to the tooth.  I told her she shoulda had it pulled and been done with it...

She's had high blood pressure since Chey was born. I keep telling her, you don't mess with that, as it can kill you or worse.. . I'll admit here that I've been worried sick, to the point of tears, just thinking about the possibilities. I don't know that I could survive without her. All I can do is pray and try to make her take the medication the doctor prescribes....

And Nelle, Care Credit can be a God-send, but lord, they interest rates border on criminal...

About the tooth affecting blood pressure, I know that's a fact! I had a tooth start hurting December 20th and there were no dentists in the office ANYWHERE AROUND HERE to pull the thing out of my mouth until January 2nd. I don't think my BP got critically high, but I could feel it was higher than normal.

Very true about Care Credit rates. We try to break ours up into the promotional balances w/ no interest. It's a plan that has worked well for us, and we make sure we budget it to pay off before the date ends.

Sitting at work. It's pouring down rain outside, again.

Our car was broken into last night. They stole the Halo Bolt (jump start for a car) from Jeremy's car. I'm pretty sure the truck's Halo Bolt was stolen a few months ago as well. Who knows if it's the same person or not. Just infuriating that people just take what is not theirs. Of course.. this is the same world where people feel they can kill others and harm even the smallest of humans and animals  with no thought about how wrong it is. It's all about "me" to everyone. :( Such a sad thing.  I'm thankful that they didn't steal the cars tho!! We are going to try to get a motion light put up (there's already a streetlight within spitting distance from our driveway AND a house within that same distance) as well as a trail cam. I'm so tired of getting stolen from. We cannot WAIT to move out of town.

I survived the dentist trip last night, just barely. She was friendly, but a little unnecessarily rough. :/ I felt like I had gotten work done on my mouth when I left.. which is not how I normally leave a cleaning visit, haha.

I ALMOST let this slide due to two posts in a day from you- It's been two years since that happened.!
But no, Smartypants. No donuts. Rusty is getting his kickpanels covered and new door panels done in a red and black plaid, kind of a nod to the flannel shirts that old farmers and old guys like my dad wore. Okay, I wear 'em too. I have a local upholstery shop that will cover his seat in an imitation leather with the same flannel plaid pattern inserts, too, and he's getting new carpet as well. Bring him a bit uptown, but still with country flavor.

I've always struggled to eat breakfast. Lunch is usually my meal. And I have to admit I'm grumpy and not a morning person.

And in sharing- tomorrow I have to interview 8 people for our open position, and go serve paperwork on a particularly dangerous murderer. I don't know if you can call him a serial killer, but he killed two people last weekend by stabbing them...

Ok. Yes, Murderer is behind bars. Folks, it was looking into the face of pure evil talking with him today. I'll have to conduct a hearing in the next week or so on him.
It was a very busy day today. Two more days until a weekend.... and I'm ready for it, even though they are saying we will have the chance of some winter weather. 70 yesterday- ice this weekend. Our jonquils think it is spring and have began to come up. There'll be no flowers this year, I expect, because this cold will kill them back..

I hereby deny, disclaim, repudiate, renounce, decline responsibility for, reject, and otherwise claim no actions taken on my part in  regards to any and all blame that is attempting to be wrongfully transferred to my person by Sasquatch and Weird Cat.
I am, as always, your innocent, kind, compassionate, good looking, understanding and witty friend who would never do such things as are attempted to be scapegoated to me.

Unless given the opportunity to do so in such a manner that it could not be traced back to me

:hypocrite:

And wow. Today has been- interesting. Yeah, that's the word. One of my coworkers and I got into it. Bad. To the point that I had to beg God to keep me for doing something I would regret. Over what? He didn't get an email when a subject was placed on his casefile, and I was the last officer to see that offender. I had zero to do with it..LOL. He came in yelling at me. I don't take that well.
I returned to my office and prayed for strength.
Felt like I'd be heading to the supervisor (who is absent today) with it.
An hour later, he came over and apologized taking complete responsibility. I forgave him- but it REALLY took everything I had to not swing at him, which would have led to both of us hurting and being fired.

Well, my day was not as eventful.

We got an email yesterday that a computer wasn't working.  I drove an hour to look at the said computer only to find out it wasn't plugged in.  Let me repeat that last part.  It WASN'T PLUGGED IN.

*sigh*

Then I drove another 30 minutes to a second appointment (10:45 am) and no one was there.  I called and they said, "They will be back at noon."  Ok, early lunch.  I get back about 11:30, and at 1 I call again.  They are almost there.  At 1:45 PM they show up.  The problem?  Oh, the internet went down YESTERDAY and was working again today.  I sat there for 3 hours for a problem that fixed itself.

*sigh again*

Winter storm coming today. Husband is having to stay at his cousin's in order to be closer to the post office. I'm going to get to watch my shows on the big tv in the living room! Probably just some random old Netflix show, hahaha. That's my life. I'll probably end up in bed reading a book falling asleep instead of "partying it up" haha.

Morning everyone.

Same place that had the unplugged computer called us a few months back about the printer not working.  Sure enough, every time you started to print, it would jam up all the paper.  It was a cheap little inkjet printer, with the paper feed at the back.  We worked on it for quite a while and was just about to determine it was dead when we discovered the culprit...

The employee had been eating pork rinds near a computer and dropped one down the back of the printer.  It got jammed up out of sight and was causing all kinds of havoc.

That still doesn't top the one where my coworker brought a printer back to the office one day only to discover a kids sock jammed in the printer.  You should have heard the commotion that day...lol

And in sharing here- peaceful day. Cold and overcast though. And Mini says I'm twisted because I am somewhat gleeful over one of my offenders being arrested today. The guy is the Teflon man- he's had cases dismissed twice on him in the past year. They caught him with a gun a bit ago. Teflon no more.

And I am ready for quitting time. Eating lunch right now- Lou made some kinda of Hamburger-Potato Casserole. Probably 5 trillion carbs a serving, but it is tasty. I'm just eating one small bowl....

Urgh.  Good morning, all. Just got up- nothing I have to do today. Good thing cause I have no money with which to do it. I may go out to the shop, fire up the heater and work on one of Rusty's door panels.
And I feel like a tool this morning. Internet went down sometime late last night. I rebooted the modem, fussed with it, and finaly called Hughesnet. The problem? My ROUTER needed reset. I don't know why I didn't think of that, other than the fact that its lights were showing no issues. Totally deserve to lose my quasi-nerd card for that.

Not sure if I'm going to redo it or not- it looks ok, but there some things I want to do differently.  Now I'm waiting on the mother in law to call and tell me when I can come pick Chey up. Wishing she'd hurry up with that- I'd like some chicken strips and we are out, but I don't wanna waste a trip to town..

:hi:
It's Sunday.  Day of rest for me, if I turn my imaginary hearing aids off so I can't hear Lou bellerin' about cleaning up. For some reason, she picks Sunday to be her "Clean the house" day, and imagines EVERY week that I have told her I will help. " Lou: mop the floor, steam them, wash the dishes, blah blah, you said you'd help."
No. I have NEVER said that I would help on Sunday. I try to help a bit through the week, and Saturdays, after I do all the grocery shopping, put dinner on, and my few outside chores, I may step in and help, but Sunday is my "lay in the recliner" day. Much like I won't schedule offenders to come see me on Fridays, I won't schedule cleaning on Sunday. :pound:
And in sharing I was getting really irritable about my W2 not being ready, as I already have Lou's. Then I looked and realized I didn't get it last year until the 24th. I guess I'm just impatient, because I worry that the .gov may stay down in this stupid political peeing contest and they will find a reason to keep my money, which I NEED. I have a hospital bill to pay off, a checking account that has gotten dangerously low, and I would like to have a vacation in March. We are considering San Antonio or back to Mel's area, Pensacola, ect...

budget update: we are keeping a simple sheet of notebook paper on the wall beside a giant calendar. we are keeping a running tab on what goes in and what goes out of the bank account. It's essentially a checkbook balance for everyone to see. haha.

Brandon interviewed for 2 assistant manager positions today. 1 at Advance Auto and 1 at Lowe's. He really wants the Lowe's position. Plus it's in the next town over which means eventually we could move to my ideal location midpoint between both our work places and make our drive to church half the time. I have been trying to share the responsibility of the the knowledge of our finances and budget as my husband's hobbies have become a bit more costly. Last night that poor boy got quite a look at it all. I showed him my Excel spreadsheets of our balances, our promotional offer/balances, and our year-at-a-glance budget. LOL.. He said he wouldn't be spending money for several years after his last huge purchase. (He has been wanting a gaming computer..) We can thankfully pay this off over a years time, so I was able to help him get what he needed for it. He works very hard and has little 'hobby' time - so I'm glad his hobby time isn't alcohol or partying with crazy friends or out-of-the-house.. but instead is IN the house where I can still see him and see that he's safe.. and make him go to bed. LOL.

Drizzling rain here. And tomorrow pastor is coming over. Why? Because he loves my simple five ingredient bread, and has demanded that I "teach him how to make it". Water, honey, salt, flour and yeast. It's a chewy bread that is quick and tasty, although it doesn't rise as high as most breads.

2 cups water
2/3 cup honey
tsp salt
2 1/2 tsp yeast, proofed
4-5 cups bread flour

Right, no oil. That would make it chewy. My bread is more friable. Especially this last batch, because I used oil instead of flour to keep it from sticking to my hands. It's so friable I don't like it much. Think I'll go back to flour for sticky-control.

I would be interested in trying a loaf of your bread. Do you ship?

Awesome dinner last night with the Pastor and his family. Definitely entertaining. [they have 4 kids]

Ended up hopefully adding a new member to the Henson household. A small, fluffy kitten went darting across our busy downtown street in front of our car on the way home. We stopped just to make sure it got out of the road. He came right up to me. My dog has already fallen for it. I hope no one claims him. He is so cute!!!

Some light housework then church this afternoon.

Had I had it at a point I could've stopped, I would've driven it over instead of the Jeep. The jeep is fun- but makes my rough riding Corvette feel like a Lincoln in comparison. There's log wagons that don't ride so rough. In fact, I've rode hardtail choppers- motorcycles without ANY rear suspension- that rode smoother.

It's cold. I'm about to eat a snack b/c I'm hungry. I think there's more snow coming Wednesday and Saturday, but it doesn't seem like it's going to be nearly as much as this past weekend - which is lingering here with us. The roads are getting better. Most of the schools are still out for today.

You are missing outtttttttt then. Seafood is SO GOOD.
Catfish, tilapia, salmon, shrimp, crab, clams, flounder, frozen fish sticks, and I've heard lobster is equally as good. Haven't tried that cus its expensive. I've made a delicious teriyaki salmon....oh man so good.  :fork:

And a lot better for you than red meat. Trust...I'm from Texas....and Texans know their beef. I love a good juicy pinkish red steak.
But fish? Mucho better for a plethora of things in your body than red meat.

But there is sooooo much more to making bread than the recipe. How long do you knead it, at what temperature do you let it rise, for how long, what kind of yeast, what kind of flour, what brand of flour... Every variable makes an incredible difference in the end result.

I'm spending my lunch trying to get our internet up to the better gaming package so that our internet isn't lagging anymore. I'm super curious why I've been paying for 300 mbps prices for 100mbps internet.. lol. It's been a circus trying to get this upgraded for the last 45 minutes, so I doubt I'd get anywhere with trying to have that figured out as well. Jeremy bought a new modem that should be here this week sometime, so hopefully that only HELPS things like no lagging in the end. The modem we have is like at least 4+ years old, and they make us pay $10.50 per month to "lease" it. That's one expensive cheap modem. haha..

Depends on the type of internet connection, depends on the difference between megaBITS and megaBYTES.

Bits vs. bytes first: ISPs always quote their connection speed in megabits because it sounds more impressive, but your computer reports speed in bytes and there are eight bits in a byte. So an 800 megabit connection is only 100 megabytes.

If it is a DSL connection, speed drops off with distance from the local server. If the server is downtown and you are five miles away from it, your speed will be lower than the house right next door the the server building. Of course they quote the best possible speed for those who have a computer two feet away from the server. (DSL providers cover all this in the fine print, but their salespeople never ever mention it before you buy the service.)

I'll have to ask Jeremy what he's seeing on the speed test, because I didn't get to see it.

I spent two hours dealing with the upgrade - only to find out that our area cannot be upgraded. So hopefully a new modem will help some. If not, Jeremy's going to probably want to switch providers again. It started lagging some just about two weeks ago.. which was around the first "snow" event this year. Weird timing. Ah well.. first world problems I guess.

Sorry, PF. Thinking of you all today.

And in sharing- I had to do an intake on a prisoner just released from prison today. Dude walked in- and I did a double-take. He STRONGLY resembled our own Seth. LOL. I think the head bird of all is a jail bird. LOL. The guy really resembled him. And today was long and full of troubles. Fortuantly, most of the troubles weren't mine directly. Had a guy try to bring someone else's urine in to pass his drug test. Nasty. And stupid, because I caught him. He got two nights in an all inclusive resort for his troubles, and warnings that a repeat performance might get him 6 months.
And of course, the time all of this occurred was at 415 pm- when I get off at 430. :pound: I shoulda gave him another day just for that.

Got home, Lou had a delicious dinner waiting, and I discovered my W2 was in. I've spent the last 2 hours fighting Taxact, but I've got my taxes completed and filed. May be a bit before the refund makes it in though. Looks like we will be able to pay Chey's school tuition, Lou's hospital bill, pay for the 1/4 beef we've spoken for, pay our taxes and have a staycation- cause there sure ain't money to run across the US this round.
I'm just thankful for the enforced savings account. It's wiser to get more weekly in your check, but this helps us to actually save a bit.

We put together Jeremy's computer desk last night. It's not the one he wanted, but it's the one that I felt better about price-wise, haha. It took so long. UGH.. I was SO tired. We didn't even have time to cook/eat dinner. As soon as we hit the door at 6pm, we started putting it together and we didn't finish until a little after 10pm. Fridays are my earlier day and we carpooled, so I had to get up at 5:30 and ride in with him. I need a nap when I get home.

We are putting my small desk together when he gets home tonight. I might need a prayer circle by then.. LOL.

I started working on year-end for church last night. I didn't feel like doing the manual labor involved in clearing out my corner of the office to put together my desk, and even though Jeremy offered, I didn't want him to have to put my desk together alone. Plus he was cooking the dinner I requested, so I wasn't about to complain.

Thankful to be off today. I was able to sleep in after waking up violently sick this AM when his alarm went off. I haven't felt bad all day afterwards, so I'm hoping something was just not settled in my stomach and I won't be revisiting any of that again, haha.

About to go on visitation and then back to hitting the year-end books again. I dislike year-end at work and at church - because it's all a similar kind of stress and paperwork involved for me, haha. I'm up to my ears in contribution statements and reports.   I think it's irritating and ironic that all the bank statements can balance and the quarter 1-3 reports can balance, but once I get to quarter 4... something always goes wrong, lol. I have spent more time than I care to admit looking for less than a $5 difference since taking this position a few years ago.

Oh well... I stopped looking for that $5 and worked on contribution statements instead so that my little poor brain could take a break from puzzle breaking and just do data entry, haha. Hopefully when I get the rest of the paperwork ready, I will have an epiphany or maybe God will highlight the error for me. :) Or at least.. that's what I'm praying for. LOL.

They are saying we might have snow tonight. If it has to come it needs to snow a foot so I can take off work. :pound:
Personally, I'd as soon skip the nastiness though and go straight to spring! Flowers, green grass, and most importantly, warm weather.

We are driving to Yellowstone in July. I LOVE those kind of road trips. I finally get to see areas that my family (pre-kids.. like.. my grandparents) were able to see years ago. I like knowing I could possibly be stepping where I always dreamed of going but never expected to be able to go. I am sooo excited to see these places. It's extra sweet & fun to be able to do so with some of our friends.  Only thing that could make it sweeter is to maybe go with my parents. I want to give them the world. I hope I get the chance to do those kinds of trips with them before the unspeakable happens.

Well I just had an interesting morning. I came down with some bug yesterday, didn't know if it was the stomach bug going around or a cold. No sinus crud, but no puking either, just feeling blah. This morning I could not get warm - like shivering violently in normal 70-ish degree temperature. So I went to bed with a space heater pointed at me and baked for four hours or so. Apparently all I needed was to burn something off. Now I feel fine.

Odd thing is, when my body does that burn-off thing, it decides it is through really fast. One minute I'm lying in bed comfortably warm, the next minute I have got to dump some of this excess heat right now!

Waiting on Jeremy to get off work and meet me. We have to go pick up his daily drug..I mean.. coffee.  Then head to Staples to return his too-large-for-our-office chair mat and buy a new one (with a sweet 30% off coupon that I got today). Then... YAMATO! It's our favorite Japanese restaurant. He can get his sushi and I can get the most amazing hibachi chicken my taste buds have ever met. Like seriously.. all it takes is the mention of Yamato, and I instantly start craving it, haha. Maybe they lace their food with drugs..? I'm not sure, but it's delicious. :)   Plus their staff is always so extremely friendly - almost like family, but without the sarcasm that comes with family, haha.

I woke up this morning. I got a long drink of water and sat down to play Ghost 1.0, a new metroid-ish game. I ate a can of turnip greens and some pizza, and at some point a slice of chocolate cheesecake.

In about 35 minutes I'm going to head out the door, feed my dog and go to w*rk. At that point my life will take a downward trend, but it would be a lot more downward if I did not go to w*rk because my wallet would start griping a lot.

LOL. You are probably the only person I know that would eat a can of greens. I like them too, but I generally want them as a part of a "sit-down" meal.
Our computer system is forever more slow this morning and it is annoying me.

I love shopping, but I dislike paying, lol. Groceries, clothes, shoes, etc. Love.

Contribution statements are out and about. Finally finished the conundrum that was the books last night. FYI - It's always user error. LOL. It took deleting the page completely and redoing it from scratch to figure out where I went wrong. But I'm SOOOOO thankful. GLORAAY. I'm not even kidding. I could've shouted all over the house. Now my weekends and weeknights can be focused on cleaning my HOUSE! When we put together Jeremy's computer room and made it into an office for us, we had to move a LOT of stuff around that hadn't been touched in years. So now I have to organize our home. We have to have a livable home again, haha. Yay! Plus our kitties are very glad that I am able to play and hold them again. They very much resented the busy-ness of the house.

Now I get to start working on year-end job schedules here at work. Woo.. (don't read that as too excited, haha)  It'll be okay. It'll be over eventually. :)

Ain't nothing wrong with a can of greens... Especially when I have been eating mostly starches and dairy lately and I wake up with a very specific hunger. It is not my normal go-to breakfast choice.

Been too busy to say anything. Lou and I went to Olive Garden for dinner last night/tonight for a rare date night. Need prayer for my mother in law- her grandkids that she has raised has now decided that at age 13 and 15, they want to live with their other grandmother , a chain-smoking do-whatever-you-want type. My mother in law is very upset and down about it. She's literally devoted herself to these kids for the last 10 years, even when it cost her, and now she feels they have just thrown her away.

I appreciate it. Those kids don't realize they are hurting someone who literally sacrificed everything for them. I want to go snatch the little brats up and beat 'em, but I don't think it'd have the desired result.
'And in sharing, Chey and I had some time at the range today. She and Lou are napping, and I am thinking of going to Walmart and grocery shopping.

Post post post post post. Parcel post. Post holes. Post haste. Postscript. Post cereal.

I got five pounds of dried peaches and boiled them up. That's a lot of peaches once they soak up some water...

Okay let me explain. I like jam with no sugar, no acid, no artificial sweetener that tastes more chemical than sweet... just fruit. But nobody sells that, at least not around here, so I get bags of dried fruit, boil them up, mash them down, boil them down a bit more and stick it in the fridge. I got a five pound bag of dried peaches because that was the best per-pound cost I could find for dried peaches.

So Thursday night I got home from w*rk and found my shipment had arrived. I dumped the whole bag in a big soup pot with a gallon of water and started them boiling. Then they swelled up on me and I got the feeling I had made a mistake.

I dealt with it though, and now I have a lot of little containers of mashed peaches in the freezer. I won't have to do that again for a good half a year or so.

I am here. We had some apples that we're getting old. Hubby peeled them and I cooked them up and made hand pies. I used my regular pie crust recipe but I think if I do it again I'll look up a crust recipe specifically for the purpose. They were good but the crust was a little thick but if I rolled it too thin the filling came through.

Posts.

We had a powerful church service today.

It was one of the top ten church services I have ever been in in my life.  Something happened here in the spirit that has never happened.  Words can't explain it.

Also, last night was our sectional valentines banquet.  It was good fun, then at the end they prayed for my wife.  Holy Ghost took over and kids all over were caught up in the spirit.  What was meant to be a banquet, turned into a Holy Ghost outpouring!

Morning all. I miss GP peoples too. I also miss having a functional sewer system, but it's hard to complain about it knowing that it is under about a foot of water, with no relief in sight for at least the next 24 hours. That reminds me- I need to call Robbie and pick his brain about a French drain I think will alleviate some of my issues, see if there's any design problems I'm missing before I hire a backhoe. Of course, there's no rush in that, as I can't do anything with it raining at a rate of an inch an hour...
Life this weekend was - usual. Nothing much done. I'm ready for pretty weather, where I can actually get stuff done. Work wise- this week will be busy- normal day to day schedule, plus I have to audit 30 cases from a Little Rock Officer for the department's audit, then Friday I go to Little Rock to take a test- I hope I pass- and rush home to turn around and go BACK to Little Rock for a work related awards banquet,  then Saturday is our church's Valentines day banquet. Truth of the matter is, I'd as soon miss all of that.

Take a cue from your dog. When it's raining and there are things you need to get done that you can't get done, take a nap instead. When the rain drains and you can get stuff done you will be in better shape to get it done.

Besides, naps totally rock.

It's still raining here.

Lots of schools have cancelled in my hometown in Arkansas. It's begun flooding pretty badly. Hopefully it will slow down if Roscoe's already not got rain.

@Work. While it IS raining and cloudy here, I shut the blinds in the office so I won't have to see how dreary it is. PLUS it's Tuesday - so I get to listen on my headphones to music, Netflix, etc. I enjoy the chillness of Tues/Thurs in this office. I do have loads of work to do, but I'm glad I at least get to listen to something other than the printers, the heaters, the lights, and the coworkers talking, haha.

Our office has one less person who works in it (in the room with me), and she's the bid coordinator so the estimators kind of slack off a bit on being so needy. We all tend to be more talkative on MWF when she's in the office, too. Plus I feel rude wearing my headphones when she's in here with me LOL.. tho I sometimes do it if I really need to focus. I think Mondays are just so intense due to the weekend and all the businesses that Tuesdays are really slack in comparison. Wednesdays are payroll for me plus the normal workload so I'm high stress most of the day, so Thursdays are chill again, haha. Fridays are just busy due to being the last day of the workweek, but also more enjoyable because it's Friday. :)

Sometimes T & Th are just as bad as MWF, depending on what's going on that week with bids and whatnot, but usually I can count on T & Th being a little easier on my mind. :)

Yesterday I was even alone in the building for about 3 hours, haha. Silence was bliss!

Jeremy threw together a "chicken chili" for supper last night. Since he threw stuff together, it didn't actually end up being a "chili" but more like a new version of "chicken gumbo" and delicious. I loved it. LOL. I brought a whole container with me to work to eat on today and tomorrow.  I am taking off Monday for my birthday and Jeremy's off for the federal holiday - so we are going to Arkansas to see my parents and friends after church Sunday morning and we will come back on Monday evening sometime. I'm so excited. I need my parents again, haha. Plus some good ole relaxation.

No, I toughed it out. I didn't feel as bad this morning, and knew I had 14 offenders scheduled, so I really didn't want to leave that to my coworkers. Besides, I have to be gone tomorrow from the office- I have to drive to Pine Bluff and take a test. I think I've mentioned it before- at three years with the agency, an officer is eligible for promotion to "Agent". It usually comes with a pay raise, so most folks are eager to get it. It requires passing a test, going through a Leadership Class, then a panel interview. I really had no intention of trying for it, since thanks to God's Blessings on me and my transfer means no raise, but my boss really wants me to get it. In part , it'll look better for our area to have more Agents. So I'm doing it, just for them..LOL.

I just pray I don't goof around and fail it. That would be embarrassing.

And Lou and I are going to an awards banquet tomorrow night that I apparently may be an honoree at. It's semi-formal, so we will get to dress up and go to the Country Club. We decided we'd make it our Valentines day celebration.

Now, I've a week long training to do, then an interview before I can claim Agent.

Our sound board is dead. Long live the new sound board. They installed it last Thursday.

The old sound board was analog. The new sound board is digital. Turns out this is a MASSIVE difference in control schemes. It's still the same basic concept - soundboard takes a lot of inputs and routes them selectively to a lot of outputs - but an analog board has a big grid of knobs for everything. A digital soundboard doesn't need all those knobs because everything is done in computer-space. So instead of a big grid that makes sense, you get whatever control scheme the manufacturer thought was best. The user manual is something like 150 pages, PDF file of course.

Bro. David is the guy who runs the soundboard during church. I'm just the troubleshooter. Bro. David gets nervous whenever anything changes. As in, anything at all. If I swap out the laptop I keep in the sound booth for recording sermons, I put the exact same recording program on the new computer, with exactly the same shortcut keys, exactly the same interface, and he still gets nervous about a new computer instead of the one he's accustomed to. This has been a hard week for Bro. David.

I told him, "Look, just do what I do with that Reaper program I use for making soundtracks. Reaper has a lot of functions because it is made for a lot of different uses, but nobody uses ALL Reaper's functions. I only use the parts of Reaper that I need to do what I want to do, and I don't worry about the rest. All you need is to hit the Main button, and the faders control what is going out the house speakers. If somebody wants something turned up or down in a monitor you hit that monitor button and the faders control what is going out that monitor. Then hit the Main button again. Just ignore all the rest." That seemed to help him a bit, but he's still more nervous than a bread baker at a gluten-free convention.

I totally understand.. we recently changed our sound board too. I waited until Robbie and Chel came over and had him reset it. Of course everyone has monkeyed with it and I have to readjust it back every service, but at least the speaker doesn't sound like he's in a barrel. Our church acoustics are terrible anyway, and the way some of our sound system speakers are mounted makes it worse. They were installed "because they fit there" not because that was the best place....

And in sharing, I'm off, thank God, and so is Lou. We are fixing to drop Chey at school and enjoy a date day.

No they say the pain is similar to birthing a kid. lol they say kidney stone pain for women the only worse pain is birthing a kid.

I've had them about 4 times. And it def. doesn't help convince me a child is worth it. lol passsssssss.

Robbie has been teaching me on the digital board we have. I am slowly getting better and can fix most issues- but nowhere near an expert like Robbie is. It just makes sense in his electrical engineering- computer working brain. Lol.

And I've never had a kidney stone- but I have had a gallstone. Those things make you think you are dying. Literally. Am so glad to be done with that portion of pain.

Back at work. *grumble*

I was able to see my parents this Sunday/Monday combo and see many church friends at the same time, so that was really nice. It was nice to be 'home' even if just for about 24 hours. :)

I'm back in the chaos that is Illinois now. Where we are talking mileage tax instead of fuel tax, I think they've approved minimum wage to increase to $15, now they're saying hundreds of businesses left that same day (as per normal.. b/c people have been leaving in a steady stream for a while it seems)... but I'm glad to be at home in my own bed.

Chaos you avoid from taking off Monday hits you square in the face on Tuesdays, fyi. I gave someone a report to look over and fill in a column on maybe 10 spots on Thursday. They chose yesterday to start the report and completely forget everything I told them Thursday. The CPA "simplified" it for them after their questions, and when I looked at his notes, I realized I completely messed up some of the projects amounts anyway. This is what happens when I'm trying to work on year-end and no one leaves me alone for five minutes. LOL.. Plus my normal chaos of my own when I zone out on projects. :)

At least I have lunch to look forward to. That's still 15 minutes away for me, but everyone else already left for lunch. At least it's quiet. :) :) :) Can you tell I'm focusing on smiling?:)

It's supposed to have a wintry mix this evening but I think it's not supposed to stick around since temps were going to be rising instead of falling for a bit. I think that involves rain tomorrow tho. :/ I appreciate not having a drought, but I don't like flooding either. The Mississippi is already creepily close to the highways (flooded its normal flooding area already). I'm not sure what its levels are at the towns tho. Hopefully it won't be like 2018 (or was it 2017?). It's flooded twice since I've lived here, so I'm not sure hahaha. I'm just thankful I live further away from the river and won't get flooded. Breaks my heart for those who live close tho. Southern Illinois needs an economic revival of sorts.

Nelle- Ya'll need to come home to Arkansas. LOL
Of course, it is nigh onto flooding here too.... supposed to get torrents of rain again this week. Yay.
I forgot Lunch and am trying to keep from going to get anything. I've GOT to start eating healthier again....
And the prison system has apparently decided that having over 200 parolees per officer in my office isn't enough. I've gotten four parole plans in the last hour to add to my list...

Happy Anniversary PF!!!

I passed Kiki the kidney stone sunday night. They went ahead and did a CT yesterday just to make sure it wasn't a small piece of something bigger. I'm in the clear. I've had gallstones before and hence no longer am in possession of a gallbladder. My pain wasn't as bad as everyone had me anticipating but ::shrug:: Now gallstones had me regularly making sure I had repented of all sins and asking for Jesus to take me home immediately.

Heading to the grocery store since we have neglected that part of our life for the past week before the deluge starts yet again. 2 counties over from us is looking forward to their 3rd bought of flooding in the past 2-3 weeks. I'm about to ask Brandon if he will start working on an ark soon.

And yeah, we have someone hired, but they won't start until next Monday. I'm at the point that I just offered my supervisor a steak dinner if he would take one of my troubled children in particular off of my caseload.

I wish work would just give me a set schedule of going in at 5 am. This week I alternate between going in at 5 and going in at 8. So today, I'm wide awake, fully prepared to go and I still have another 15 minutes before I can even think about leaving.

Our taxes are supposed to deposit any day. I would really like to get new tires on my car. She's not enjoying this rain in her shoes right now.

I was supposed to be off this week. I've gotten called in 3 of those days so far. The paycheck for this week should be better than any in the last month so far. Thankfully.

@ heather- ugh. I've given birth and I've had the gallstones- and I don't want either of those experiences to be replayed. But I totally understand your explanation of the gallstones!

Now I gotta get ready for church in a bit. I know it has to be the devil, but it seems like I'm always the most worn out on Wednesdays....

Do they stay in your case files until forever.. or do they get reassigned to someone else if they come out/go back in?

About to go home. We have the winter rally on Friday night at our church, so we have to set up tonight for the fundraiser 'dinner' afterward. I also need to finish my promotional bulletin board for Sunday School so it won't look weird since it's currently not all the way finished.

They go off my caseload. When they are released, it's luck of the draw as to who gets them.

And yesterday started the end of the week hustle at AZ. It's a slow time [for now, just waiting for everyone to get tax refunds] so higher ups are always pushing to cut hours. I have drivers quitting because they don't get enough hours to start with, people calling out with the flu, some are taking spring break trips, and now one has had a death in the family. So I'm supposed to cover 21 hours of work between today and tomorrow but not work more than the 19.5 I have left until I go into over time. Oh and none of my drivers can go over 25 hrs per week.....I guess just no one will be working and of course that will effect things too. Sheesh.

Wow. Sounds almost like Walmart...Lou constantly stresses over this same corporate driven ridiculousness.
My day has been very busy today. And of course, since a few years ago, I helped out Kim and Sis Hattie by doing their taxes- I have it to do again. So this evening will be busy too...

Yup. It's the same everywhere..in every corporation.
My pharmacists are so slammed right now and of course there's no payroll for anything.

Just had a pharmacy manager give his notice. He went out Sunday and the remainder of the week on "stress leave". Cus he couldn't handle the work load right now.

It's sad really that we push people so hard to the brink of exhaustion w/out giving rest. I feel its the same in the church setting also. Several of us are feeling the strain of needing rest w/out getting it.

According to the official rules somebody needs to start a new sharing thread. I don't really see the point of it anymore, but we still follow that rule so...

I started the last one and our moderator for some reason took exception to it. Maybe somebody else should start the new one.

Remember when we roasted Roscoe one day so bad that every thread was something about him?

I wish it were busy like that again. I missed the heyday of GP...When it was going strong, I was probably in my heathen phase and would not have known the first thing about a computer. Hard to believe that Lou and I were married before we got our first computer (used) and didn't have internet until after Chey was born. Didn't have time for it, and didn't miss it. And our cell phones were top of the line- Motorola Rzr Flip phones- after the Nokia "Candybar" style phones died. (I still miss that phone and the "snake" game.) LOL
