Good thing too. I needed something to stand on to reach the bar, cause you sure wasn't helping a vertically challenged brotha out..

In other news, I finally discovered the cure for the headaches I've had almost every day for the past several months.   Had thought the headaches was sinus or tension related but medication did little for me.  Turns out I needed glasses.

In my experience, I have always found nervousness to be a good thing. When I used to sing a lot of solos at my Fla church, if I was nervous before I sang, I would be anointed and knock that song out of the park. It would be awesome and I would get lots of compliments every time...but when I walked up there confident, and I was sure I would do fine, I ALWAYS messed it up with a wrong key or forgot a line or came in too soon or late...etc.

I learned quickly that nervous was good. ;)

I got called out by the Pal's sign yesterday. [Pal's is a local drive thru fast food joint. If you are ever my way go for breakfast and get the cheddar rounds and a raspberry or peachie tea]. They change their sign daily with little quips, quotes, etc. Yesterdays was 'stop overthinking it'. I'm still struggling with going to church with my ex-husband. Especially when service ends up being an all praise to him and his family of perfect saints party like it did on Sunday. I was fine until the pastor prayed the exact same prayer over him and his new wife as he did over us. Less than a week after that prayer, the abuse started in our relationship.

I did visit a different church sunday afternoon that I have quite a few friends attend but had never been myself and is actually much closer to me location-wise. The evangelist who was preaching that service read my mail. A sweet sister who is a dear friend and knows a bit about my past but no where near all of it came up and prayed with me. She hit everything right on the head. I'm stumped as far as what to do. Do I continue going somewhere that I feel like I'll never grow but is home with all my friends? Will I ever really heal there? Do I move on to another church to begin again? What about Brandon? He really enjoys and seems to be on the brink of something at our current church. I need prayer y'all......Now if I could just get an answer and get my mind to stop overthinking it......

Well, the interview was today at 2 pm. Apparently God said no.I felt good about my performance on the interview, yet I received a telephone call on the way home from the Head Ranger advising me that they had hired someone else. he was nearly crying when he told me, saying he really hated this call. I told him that it was apparently God's will that I not get the job, thanked him for his time and asked him what I could do to make myself a more attractive candidate. He told me that I had done an awesome interview and if he HAD to nitpick, and it was just nitpicking, my education was weakest. Sigh. Once again my decision to forgo college bites me. :sadbounce:
But, after talking with mini on the phone, I realize that as much as I love that place, I could have been in danger of putting it before God. I don't think I would, but I DO love that place that much. So-God's will be done. Thankfully, I still have a good job that pays well.

Dad's test was bad news.  He does have cancer.  So pray for him and mom, she's terribly stressed about it.  She has already been worried that he was bad off, but actually hearing a diagnosis of that hit her hard.

I made it through today. And thanks to those of you who have sent us Christmas cards. They are appreciated, even though I must confess that I have not so much as looked at sending a Christmas card out yet. I am so terrible about that...

He has appointments Jan 2 and 12 with two different oncologists.  One of them a radiation specialist.  They will probably be doing radiation on it, but beyond that I don't know.  As sickly as he is aside from that I don't know if there is other stuff that he could even endure having done ya know...

We just need big help from the Lord on all fronts.

I hoped and prayed it wasn't that, but I was kind of braced for it.  Though it's new news to us to actually have the diagnosis, it's not anything new to God, He's known about it forever.

I sure don't like it....  Just gonna lean on the Lord.

A christmas present for y'all.

https://app.box.com/s/l9k786rpuxng1ba68ejp

It's an album we made just this week.  Aunt Diane, Uncle Fred and Aunt Lucy went to church and sang last Friday night, and they wanted me to record it to put on a CD to give to friends for Christmas.  It ain't professional singing, it wasn't done in a studio and it wasn't edited by a professional technician, but it's good ole southern gospel by some real good christians.  Download and enjoy.

Ive been thinkin' 'bout this.

In my ponderin', I may have found why you didn't get the job.

You see, thar be bear in those woods.

And as a park ranger, lets say you get a call that a momma bear, or whole heard of bears are raiding a campsite.

And you go, and step out of your truck and you try to scare them off with a shot, to no avail.

Suddenly, you hear the door slam on your truck, locking you out!

Bears start charging at you!

You fire once!  Twice!  You empty your gun!  You empty your clips!

You take off running as fast as you can, but the bears continue charging!

And just we, the casual reader of this story, think its the end for Roscoe, that's when I realized it was probably the mercy of God you didnt get the job.

Cause no one wants to see you run with a bear behind.

And Cheesehead, the fox would be nervous thinking it was about to get caught. At least in my twisted brain it made sense at the time and that was my thought process. Proves how nervous I was.
And in other sharing, today would've been my Daddy's 70th birthday. Sure do miss that old goat. He'd have had fun supervising me on this tile job I'm starting in about an hour. Dad always liked to supervise, and he knew enough about everything to provide helpful advice. Hard to believe it's been five years since I heard him call me a dummy, laugh and straighten out my mistakes... :sadbounce:

Preach!

Plus I hear he almost shoots stuffed animals in the dark. They scare him.
:pound: :pound: Only if it's a life size grizzly bear mounted in an attack position by a professional taxidermist. You'd have shot it...lol
And in sharing- for the past 5 hours or so I have been working, laying tile. I still have around 15 or 20 pieces to go, with 12 of those having to be cut. My back is killing me. I had to take a break. My prayer-" Lord, the next time I decide to tackle a home improvement project send Burrito to do it and a pile of money for me to pay him."  Do it for myself is for the birds. :pound:
I heard it was a Beanie Baby tacked to the wall. lol

We know that feeling.  Praying sir.

Alright you buncha slackers....where is everyone? I'm up, got dough rising for cinnamon rolls and bread for the church's Christmas party tonight. Would like to finish the tile job, but instructions said that the tile should set for up to 48 hours before grouting and I do not want to mess it up.

Young Adult Christmas Party last night. Full of hilarium and chaos and fun. I won a table top easel for my white elephant gift. Awesome!
Then talked on the phone until 3. I didn't get up till 11. Then I made biscuits & gravy, bacon and a fried egg. I ate too much omg.

Now I'm trying to motivate myself to clean the kitchen but I've yet to get up.

Taco:  Look in the "Love Center" folder.  That was the group, the Love Center Choir.

Bobby:  I've been up for some time, got bread made and risen, kneaded, risen again and baking right now.  24 loaves of sourdough is really heavy when it's all in one big lump of dough...

Bobby:  Well it's Christmas time. Many years ago I fell into the Christmas habit of giving a loaf of bread to certain families at church who had expressed that they liked my bread.  The list has grown somewhat over the years...

I only have 22 loaf pans though.  I ran out of pans before I ran out of dough.  So I put the rest of the dough in a square cake pan.  It made a rather large, square loaf.  The pastor, his wife and son all rather like my bread so I gave it to them.

So does anyone here know anything about music making? I've been using Reaper as my DAW (digital audio workstation) for some time, but I'm thinking about shifting to a program with a radically different workflow. Either Bitwig or Ableton Live.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaaHQBMZGE8

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKqkHoOaeLc

I'm kinda leaning toward Ableton, as it is the more polished one, but Bitwig has a lot more layout flexibility. I already downloaded demos of both. January, when everyone is doing a lot of nothing anyway, will be a great time to do some test driving.

Makes sense....I can't imagine making that much at once though.

And in sharing, I came home after church determined to finish the dadblasted tile job. I jumped in and got it finished, working nonstop from 8 when I got in until just a few ago. Now, all I have left to do is a final mop, reattach the trim/baseboards, and move back in. As satisfying as it is to know that I did it myself, I suspect the devil shall be complaining about hell's air conditioning being too cold before I attempt that again. I won't say I'll never do it- but it's unlikely.  :laughhard:

And I just received some very good news. I have one key supervisor who has made my life, and more particularly, my chief's life, a living hell. Acts bipolar, lets guys who are his "friends" tell him everything and believes them, even though they are as competent and useful as a concrete fire extinguisher...(they as messed up as a soup sandwich)....it's been a prayer that he would go somewhere else, but with his actions and the salary he makes, which is well into 6 figures, we figured we were stuck with him. We had our normal Christmas Eve supper and Christmas Day breakfast this year.  A good time was had by all and antacids were had by some.

Every time I hear people complaining about their families I am reminded to be thankful for mine.  Nobody got drunk, started an argument and/or had a fight.  Everyone enjoyed the party and had fun.  Christian families rock.

Wish y'all were here.  Even Seth, cause I've never met him yet.

True Christian families maybe...but my family claims to be Christian, and no one has ever gotten drunk and started fistfights or whatever, but arguing? Yeah, no holiday was ever complete without dad exploding over some trivial little thing and the rest of the day was ruined.

And my parents wonder why I choose to either work or make other plans on the holidays.

I went over to their house this year. Did my obligatory visit and got my gift. (Which was actually a nice one...surprised me!) but while I was there I was subjected to hearing about how awful my brothers are for not coming over for any of the holidays, and how they miss everyone else...ok. I'm here. I made the effort to come over (even when I would rather not at all) and yet instead of enjoying the one child that actually cares a little and has bent over backwards to take care of them the last 6 or so years...all I hear is how unsatisfied they are with the current situation and they want something different.

Ok. Great.

Anyway. My Birthday and Christmas was great despite the parents attitude. For my Birthday, MawMaw made me breakfast in bed, and then I had to go to work. I got back and Krissy wanted me to stop by and she had a Car seat for me, for Olivia to safely ride in my car. And MawMaw bought me an insulated cup with my favorite teams logo on it. Wesley brought us McDs for supper. The next day, mom and dad made me dinner and filled my car up with gas for a gift. That was also awesome. Lol Then a few days later I went with my aunt to pick up her sister and nephew from New Orleans airport and they bought my dinner at Texas Roadhouse, and got me some perfume for my Birthday, and a juicer for Christmas!! I have been talking about juicing for about two years now, and I finally got a juicer! Then at work, my secret Santa got me the fishing pole kit I posted on FB that I wanted, totally made my day! Sunday, my friend at church gave me a WM bag FULL of all my favorite candy, now I have a stash that will last till at least September! After that, on Christmas Eve I was at work and we got some toaster ovens in, I cashed in my appliance points and got that cause I really wanted a toaster oven for when I move out on my own...then yesterday, we watched the girls open their presents, ate breakfast at Krissys, I came home (I woke up SICK Cmas morning) took a nap for an hour, then went to MawMaws sons house for a huge lunch. Got more body wash and girly stuff there as a gift, and then went to Mom and dad's apartment to visit and they gave me hubcaps for my car! Yay! They all match now and there are 4! Instead of 2. Lol then it was back to Krissys for lasagna and pie.

I had a pretty good holiday!

But now I'm sick. I thought I was sick yesterday, but I threw up quite a few times during the night and now I'm wide awake, feeling awful.

Merry Christmas!

I hate you. I went to bed around ten....couldn't go to sleep no matter what I tried. Finally dozed off around 2 am....had to get up at 4:45. Woke up at 4.  Yes, I am grumpy. Yes, I'd as soon shoot you as look at you. Anyone coming into the Capitol today should be warned.

Still at my parents. I had decided to go back to my dorm yesterday due to some financial issues. My dad of all people jumped in and told me to stay and he'd help me out. School doesn't start til the 20th. Mom of course is ready for me to leave. She's ready to have her house to herself again. If it were up to her no one would live here with her. But I'm a distraction for dad so he doesn't drive her as crazy and it is really lonely in the dorm so it'll be good to stay at least another week or so.

Been sleeping about 12 hours a day for the past few days.  Since I woke up at 4 pm I'm still wide awake at 3 am. lol  I'm enjoying my husband being off for Christmas break.  It's been nice to relax and enjoy the holidays.  Last year was kinda a rush.

No real news here.  The holidays passed in the usual way - multiple family get-togethers.  Wouldn't have it any other way.  :great: No real news is real good news.

Ashlee:  Your last post reminded me of a quote - "I can get by on six hours of sleep, but ten feels so good that I usually sleep for fourteen."

Bobby:  If it worked that well for your Drake, could you come stick your thumb in a couple of laptop motherboards over here?   :teeth:

Ever have someone do something incredibly sweet, thoughtful and loving- but the end result leaves you wishing that they hated you or didn't know you?  Had that happen today....
As most here know, we've been remodeling our house little by little. Nothing major, just repainting, and so on.....Recently Lou's aunt came over and "helped" by helping Lou paint our bedroom. While the color was a shade or two off from what I would've chosen, it looked decent, and I appreciated the thought. I did NOT appreciate the sloppy brush marks on my ceiling though- they drove me nuts until I dug out white paint and repainted the ceiling spots.
Not being content to have driven me partially batty, she attacked the bathroom-kinda. She painted (badly) the trim and lower half of the wall, a color that looked good in the bedroom, but not in the bathroom. My bathroom, heretofore decent, was now scheduled for a repaint....oh, I wish it had stopped there. :sob:
Today I come home to find my bathroom assaulted again. The upper half of the wall was the victim now- well, it and any sense of style. She painted it Barney-freaggin' purple!!! It looks like Barney expired of a terminal attack of diarrhea in my bathroom.  :sob:
And to take the level of tackiness to a new level- she STAPLED purple plastic flowers around the mirror. Sadly, she thinks it looks awesome.
I am repainting this weekend. I can't handle this. I was too shocked to get angry over the fact that when purple was mentioned a couple months ago I firmly stated that I did NOT want that color in my bathroom. All I could do was laugh at the pure absurdness of it all. Barney Purple. Oh Lord. I don't think that even fits in Better Trailers and Parks magazine.....

Anyone remember this song?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89j9zHFCxNI

Now... anyone think it would be appropriate to sing at church?  Cause I like the song, I'm pretty sure I can make a passable soundtrack, I found the chords online, but I want some opinions on whether it would fly in a church setting.  Most of you have been to multiple churches, so I thought I'd ask your opinions.  Especially sunlight's as she has been to my church.

You like seriously baptized him? Like for real, for his salvation? or you just were walking by and tripped and drenched him with a glass of water by accident?

If it was for real...hadn't he already been baptized? I thought he was/they are church people?

Never occurred to me that your parents may not be "saved".

Oh, and for my update on the parsnips...they were ok. Roasted with the other veggies it was decent. But not my veggie of choice, especially alone. Mixed with others it was ok, but I don't think of I had to buy them for full price that I would do it again. In fact, I don't think I'll buy them even for my discounted banana box $1.50 price. I'll load up on other things next time, even if the parsnips are available.

Heather...hope the pain subsides...I know the feeling...go to the hospital with severe pain and they claim you are fine and send you home. If I'm fine then why is there pain!? Morons.

Ike... I think your church knows you... And knows not to expect normal from you anyways, so why are you worried about it? Lol.

On the other hand- that has been one of my favorite songs since it came out. If you were to do it in church- you may want to either explain the lyrics first, or have them written out? But why not? Sing it.
Title: Re: GP, Bring old posters back to heaven, drag 'em back to Sharing 497

Good point. They know better than to expect normal from a guy who wears toe shoes.

Explaining will be no problem. I always have been one for talking a little bit before I sing.

Bathroom is no longer Barney's paradise....and I really like the light blue color we chose. The work though- it bit.
Still have some clean up to do and we've got to get a new blue shower curtain since the one we had before the whole fiasco doesn't match.. If ya'll would do me a kindness- if you ever hear my wife's aunt mention "paint" call the police. Immediately, because a crime is about to occur. Maybe two, if my house is also mentioned, and the second crime will be a homicide. Incidentally, I will also be needing bail money and an attorney should that happen.

Please be in prayer for the Manning family. Bro and Sis Manning were driving home last night and had a single vehicle accident on the road. He passed away at the scene and she later at the hospital. They were some of the sweetest saints of God you would ever meet. They have family in just about every local church and I'm friends with their granddaughters and nephews. The whole local church community is pretty tore up but taking comfort that today they are in heaven.

There was an accident here a few days ago, single car, killed 4 people in their 30s. Drinking and drugs were involved. All were high and drunk. SMH.

The driver was my friends niece's cousin by marriage. Two died at the accident and the other two in the hospital later. I think the funeral is today.

Why do people put their life (and others) in danger driving when they KNOW they have been drinking or high? So stupid. The one guy that is connected to my friends, he had once been very active in church...they said in his teens he was really involved.

So sad.

Meanwhile. I made a worm bed yesterday using online instructions on converting a tote into a worm bed. I'm using the pulp from the veggies I juice for worm food. I dreamed of them last night and I'm anxious to go out and check on them today.

My friends brought me some worms they dug up, and I also bought some red worms at WM last night.

Well, since I've been juicing, I have a lot of vegetable and fruit pulp left over, and it seems such a waste to throw away, so this way, I can feed it to the worms, they make nutrient rich soil for the plants and gardens that MawMaw has here AND the reproduce really fast so I have PLENTY of fishing worms as well...it's a win-win all around!

One more day down. Nearly ready to take my last ham radio test, which will give me the highest ham license class there is, the Extra class. It'll be completion of a longheld personal goal and a new year's resolution. Then I can concentrate on learning morse code.  :thumbsup2:
Came home and found my new Glenn Kaiser cd made it in....old gospel songs redone in a Mississippi blues style. I am a fan. Wailing harmonicas and moaning guitars light me up. Lou was laughing at me making bread while grooving to the blues. If ya'll had saw me, I'd never have been able to live it down- but you didn't, so I shall groove on. :hypocrite:
Oh, and the wallpaper border I had ordered came in. Surprising to me, since I had bought it for the bathroom, it actually looked and matched better- absolutely perfectly- in the bedroom, and Lou decreed that it would go there. I'll have to shop for the bathroom again. :freaky2:

Okay, seriously... worm garden, good idea.  And not just good to have worms on hand for fishing.

Considering the source - a lady who keeps christmas lights up all year 'round because she likes them - it could very well be a wall of cans.

And by the way, whatever happened to burrito?  I miss him, he was cool.

We've had a total now of 6 earthquakes in the city where I work since 3pm yesterday.
The first one at 3pm, I felt. My whole office shook and rattled. It scared me to death! lol
Then there were various others after I left work. CRAZY. And another one just happened a few seconds ago. No where near as intense as the one yesterday though.

Three points for correct use of "plethora."  I often wish I lived around people who had more than a minimal vocabulary.  It would be so nice to be able to talk without constantly editing what I say into simpler terms.

Date is Thursday May 14 if anyone wants to come. But it's going to be short, sweet, here's a cupcake, and out the door.

I was a victim of my own...frugalness. Or stupidity.  :o  There were several "watchers" and I feared putting in my high bid early because I figured they would began bidding it through the roof, past my high bid. My goal was to lure the high bidder into security, then in the last hour or so put my max bid in and snip it then. As you can see that worked well for me.  :smirk2:
Made it through the day. Received the unwelcome news that Bro Wilson's mama passed last night- it was expected, she was sick and 88 years old, but still she was his Mama. He's doing well with it though. Sadly, I cannot make the funeral- it is on Monday, which is the first day of session and a day we are shorthanded. They probably wouldn't let me off for my own funeral that day.

Bobby:  Surely you jest!  There is no security in ebay.  Some auctions end long before their scheduled time because someone sent the seller a private message, "Hey I'll buy it right now for this amount."

And that's why some ebay items have a notice at the bottom, "I will not sell this item early, so don't bother asking."

Seth:  I thought the heat of summer would be more poopy... makes cow pies softer.  Bitter cold would make everything freeze, so if you did step in something you would just step on it and bounce off.

Grumpy is normal. At least until noonish. Anyone who is cheerful before then should be drawn and quartered.
Slipped and slid part of the way to work this morning, before finding clear roads. But it hasn't got much if any above freezing and it has rained or sleeted all day. That coupled with Bro Wilson's mom's visitation led to church being cancelled tonight. As the scheduled speaker, I am thankful. My chest and throat feels like a plow is operating in it, and my voice, I fear, is preparing itself for an unscheduled vacation. In short- I feel cruddy. I hope it's not the beginnings of the bug that's been wandering around my area.:sadbounce:

Lord, today was busy. Every senator and representative in the state was there, most of them brought 5 to 8 family members too. Since our Capitol was built in 1913 and basically was designed for an era in which a car was a luxury, we have major parking problems. To make matters worse, I still feel like my chest is being raked everytime I cough, which is a lot. Thank God for Nyquil..

I claim the Northwest...so I  should be used to cold and wet. However, since living in the south where summer is 100-105 and winter is 32 or below; you really feel the cold!!!  When I was last in WA the people were complaining because 85-90 was too hot! Had he went ahead and had the biopsy back in the summer when they first saw a spot, it would've been much smaller...an inch or so then, verses about 4 inches now.....  The CT they had done caused him some kind of horrible pain when they put the dye in him and he was afraid of having something like that done again for one thing, and probably another was just afraid of hearing some kind of bad news, so he cancelled the biopsy back then....and didn't have anymore problems for a few months till it started hurting and things a lot....

Anyhow....   Lots of what ifs and could haves could be said about it, but what's done is done....

I tell myself, that even if that early occasion was a chance that was given to get something done sooner, God knew that he wasn't going to do anything sooner already....so He already had a contingency plan....  *shrug*

Praying it just shrivels up and goes away.  I've been cursing it in Jesus' name from the get go.

Assuredbyfaith:  Yeah, the northwest has higher highs in the summer AND lower lows in the winter than we here in Tennessee have.  No wonder the asphalt buckles more up there.  I'm definitely staying here.

Seth:  Though your prune juice comment was really cheesy, it made me smile so much I had to bless you for it.

Jen:  Just wanted to call you Jen because I'm running low on smites.

That is all.

Read the book "The Maze Runner" (and it's following ones), and tonight I watched the movie...as usual, the movie wasn't anything like the book. The book was way better. As a stand alone movie it would have been good, but since reading the book(s) my imagination did it far better justice than the movie makers in Hollywood.

Oh well.

Lynx, I say I claim the Northwest...however, I currently live in the south!!!  The roads in WA actually seem to hold up pretty good...likely because the weather doesn't jump so much from one extreme to another! It's usually a steady cold or a steady warm! Since hitting the south(west of TN) I have never seen or imagined roads that were worst!! 😲

I've decided I've never seen worst weather...it's extremely crazy to be warm one afternoon then below freezing the within the next couple of hours....then right back to the warm! Makes it hard to handle hot or cold!

I was telling someone this morning that when I lived in WA ... In 10 years I didn't own or use an umbrella; and I hated wearing a coat or sweater!!! Back there the mid 40's felt like an average day!!! 😉

A spam taco?  >.<

Taco, some refer to it as "playing the victim card."  If I can believe I have a worse life than yours, I don't have to care about the problems you're going through. (Though personally I think I have a pretty good life... so what was your prayer request?)

What gets really silly - and depressing - is when two people try to play the victim card against each other and they get into a contest of who can make his life out to be the worst.

Sometimes it's not so much that they think their life, trials, and struggles are worst then ours; it's more so that no one but God can ever truly know what each of us face; because, even though we may be facing the same trials, and struggles...we don't face them with the same experience, knowledge, mindset, faith, past, desires, fears, feelings, thoughts, etc!

Only God will ever know exactly what you are going through; because only God knows what you feel, think, hope for, regret, desire, fear...what you have been through; what you face each day!

Sometimes it seemingly feels as though no one really understands...& if we really think about it...no one does! It doesn't matter if we have things in common; love each other, respect each other; no one will ever be able to walk the path you walk or stand in your place!

No path is the same; regardless of whether you are heading in the same direction or not!!! Despite similarities; no one starts out exactly where you start; sees what you see, thinks what you think, feels what you feel, carries what you carry....faces what you face!

Others will always see things slightly different because they didn't travel the exact path; and it's not possible to be someone else!

So if it feels as though no one cares...it's simply that they don't know....

Look to the one that does know!!!!

*Standing on the rock*

2014 took me down paths that I never thought I would travel...starting with two trips to the ER in July!

You can't imagine all the advice, and trite sayings people have "blessed" me with!!  Though my family was there for me( and I couldn't have made it with out them)! Though my friends, and church family have kept me in prayers; they will truly never understand just how hard the journey has been... how many tears, pain, hopelessness, and dark moments there have been!! I thank God for the answers to prayer; the healing, the comfort, the courage...and even though I still don't have all the answers, the journey is still hard; and each step is a struggle; I'm standing on the ROCK!! Though I may not be able to see the path ahead...I know as long as I stand on the ROCK; as hard as it is to take the next step...my feet are planted on solid ground!! I'm clinging to the ROCK of my Salvation!!!

Thoughts and prayers!!!

I am suffering from lack of Dr Pepper.  Its not that I don't have any, or cant have any. I just didn't pour a cup of it before I left the house. And considering the house is 45 seconds from my office, I think the blame falls on me.

With that said, its probably Roscoe's fault.

What?!? No posts?!?! Post, thou varlets!  I have commanded it. :pound:
What a morning. #1 I have to work, even though it's a holiday. :pound: I get up a tad late, but figure no worries, traffic will be light. I get to my first stop, 12 miles away to get my morning dr Pepper, and can't shake the nagging feeling something is wrong...thank God for alerting me. I look down as I'm getting in the truck and see a nail hanging out the sidewall of my front tire. That would've made a nasty blowout and possibly a wreck.  :o
I limp it back home, dig Rusty out of the shop, get almost to town in him and realize I'm nearly out of gas. I finally got him gassed up and drove him 75 mph all the way in- a speed he is not accustomed to. He did great, and I made it in with  2 minutes to spare. Sadly, though, rusty is still wearing dirt from his weekend of dirt roads, instead of being clean and semi-shiny like I try to have him when we come to the Capitol together..

Post by: Lynx on January 19, 2015, 01:55:50 PM
Clean and semi-shiny is not a natural look for a truck like that.  It just looks right with a little dirt on it.

Kinda like those guys who dress up like cowboys but you can tell they aren't because their clothes are too new - real cowboys would have clothes that are a bit worn from working.

Jen: I ask "Do you think this song would be appropriate for church?" about every other week.  But this particular song I like but I can't even convince myself it would go over well in church.

What did he tell you off about?  :teeth:
Hes like a true brother. A minister was cracking jokes about a prayer request I posted. Roscoe just let him have it.

To those who do remember me from when I was active here back in the late 2000's, just wanted to update...

Been in seminary for 1 1/2 years.  5 years to go.  Only Go 1/2 time on the masters degree.
Pastoring the same little church for 2 years.
Found my wife at last.  We met in person this past July, just now waiting to bring her to the USA, or I will go to her in the Philippines. Jacky Lapiceros-Parker is her name.

Well all those apps I put in last week finally turned into something. I got a call yesterday about an interview, went to the interview, and was hired immediately. I start today. (Thursday)

I'm gonna be a cashier though...something I've never done.

I'm sorta up now, 330am, sleepless, worried, and terrified.

Gotta be at my new job at 8.

Prayers would be nice if y'all remember me.

Cashier! :D :D

Cashier was the single most FUN job I ever had.  You meet so many people, and most of them are cool.  A few rubes, but they are less than 0.7% of the total, and you get a feel for who you can chat with and who you should just take their money and move them on down the line.

Wanna trade jobs?  I'd love to be a cashier again.

So because of obamacare we are restricted to no more than 30 work hours in a given week. This is a problem for more than my personal financial reasons - they need me to fill in on maintenance tomorrow and I don't have the hours to spare. I will be going in tomorrow, doing what I can in a little bit more than half the usual time and leaving some stuff undone after I run out of time.

This strongly disagrees with me. I hate leaving a job half done.

congrats nwlife!!! I'm in my third semester of undergrad. I was fortunate enough to find a university that would take me with my poor prior GPA. Essentially I had to start all over which was a blessing since I had forgotten everything from 10 years ago. Glad to see you pop in!!

Eating lunch before diving back into reading for class. Trying to cram as much homework as possible in since Brandon and I are going away for the weekend. It'll be our 3rd year celebrating our birthdays this way.

Congrats on your new job Mel!!! I loved being a cashier and still enjoy when I get to hop on the register at AZ to help people out.

Fuzzy:  Yeah, that's the reason.  The powers that be don't want to have to offer insurance.  But it really stinks when I have to leave a job half done because I don't have the hours to spare.

Fortunately I went home early today, so I'll have a good five and a half hours tomorrow.  I will have time to get all the important stuff. And maybe some of the unimportant stuff too.  We'll triage tasks tomorrow and I'll do what I can with what I have.

Well, I liked cashiering after all...so far. I've heard horror stories, but I had lots of nice people yesterday.

And about ten minutes before my alarm was set to go off, I got a really bad Charlie horse. UGH. Hoping this pain goes away before I get to work in two hours.

Lynx, my husband is the same way. He works at Target, stocking the health and beauty department mostly, and I've heard many a rant about how he had to leave work undone because he ran out of hours. Of course it doesn't help when he has days when he's the only one on the team who actually shows up to work! I'll never understand that.

MelodyB: I knew you would like it.  Almost all the people you will meet are nice.  The horror stories are from people who ignored the nice people and dwelt on the one or two rude people they met.  For some reason some cashiers go on and on (and on and on and on) about one jerk, but never mention any nice people.

I had another great day! I love my job!

Working in the deli at Winn Dixie tomorrow and Sunday. Those will be my last days there. I'll tell them not to put me on next weeks sechedule. Then back to cashiering at Jerry Lees on Monday. :)

For the next two weeks I'll get two checks a week. Life is good! ;)

Bah. My weekend off has flown by. :sadbounce: I chased down an intermittent issue with Rusty's heater- had a bad ground that would call it to go off when I needed it most. Last night I turned the ham radio on and actually made a few contacts, talking to a friend in Tokyo for a few before discovering a station located in Mali (South Africa) a country I hadn't talk to yet. A few minutes later and that contact is in the logbook...Although I'm sure that means nothing to y'all, I am quite enjoying my hobby and the little station I've bargained my way into acquiring....:teeth:
Oh, and I have to get something together for tomorrow night. If I can tear myself away from Bill O'Reilly's book "Killing Jesus", I should have no problem doing so. But that book is incredible....

Any way, the song "When God Unfolds The Rose" is playing, and it's a song that makes me squall, and sing along to, although its notes are so far out of the "bad" range for me that they are in the "My God where;s the torture device" range....

I can't sleep  ...and I would really like to be able to sleep!!!

I'm sure it's because I am once again carless ...that's C-A-R-less not careless! My 🚗 couldn't have picked a better day...when I was in the middle of a series of activities, a public event; as well as, far from home; to decide that it thinks the chip in my 🔑  is not the right chip; therefore not the right 🔑! So even though I have a fully charged 🔋, plenty of ⛽ ,and four wheels; it refuses to start! That being said; there are some amazing friends, and family; who gave it their best try at trickery (It didn't work... my 🚗 wasn't fooled one bit by them trying to get it to start). Some friends were there for comedic relief and just to keep us company! Either that, or they just like standing around watching a 🚗 go no where! Some friends were there to call in the professional; he gave it his best try!  Some friends were saying prayers... I think we lost our " grains of mustard seeds" .... Probably somewhere in the grass underneath the 🚗!! Some friends were there to drive us to and from... Some friends were there to feed us! Some family were there just wishing they could go home. Some family were there because they drove to the rescue!

So I am blessed...*sniff*

Thank you Jesus for amazing friends and family!

*Still not asleep *

ROFL

Yesterday I was looking up quotes on several words...on one page three different people had the credits for the same quote...So, I was like: "How do you decide who to quote"? I decided that when quoting someone you should choose the lesser of "evils" ...more like; who lives a lifestyle that wouldn't contradict everything you stand for; or embarrass you to be caught quoting. Needless to say I haven't used said quotes; because I haven't found the time to investigate three random strangers...and the quotes weren't really all that deep/wise!   :smirk2:

My week has been weak!

Preaching tomorrow night. I'll probably preach where I am "The Battlefield of Faith and doubt".

I recently asked why God wasn't seemly answering prayers...more so in the form of; if we have faith; why isn't more happening? How is it; if faith as a " grain of mustard seed" could do so much...and yet so much is not seemingly happening!!!?  Where is our(my) faith failing? I've always believed that God could answer my prayers; and he has answered so many...He has done some amazing things in my life. There are times; mostly when I realize I am not worthy that I doubt the answers!  I'm forever quoting " Lord I believe, help thou my unbelief"!

God actually gave me the answers to these questions yesterday. My parents and I were at a funeral; and a minister that my Dad knows sat down with him; started talking on the subject of righteousness...which without my Dad asking he started listing the reasons for unanswered prayers. My Dad pulled out a note book...we had just talked the night before on this subject; and he knew that this was God answering!  Yes, Conviction is a fiery dart!!! Thank God for his willingness to show grace and mercy!!!

With so much happening this past year...Health issues have me battling on so many fronts:
Physical,
emotional,
spiritual,
financial,
overwhelming self-doubt, and discouragement!!!

I would love to be able to read your message! I've always thought that our biggest battle was with ourselves..." battle field of the mind".  I'm my own worst enemy...who knows how many blessings I've talked myself out of! Self-doubt, fear creeping in...Myself afraid to step out!!

The Lord has been giving me a message on "Waging War" & "Spiritual Warfare ".  Mainly for my own benefit... Dealing with:

~being spiritually, physically, mentally prepared for War
~the weapons we have to fight with
~knowing the enemy
~waging war/ not forsaking the home front
~the things that we do that sabotage our own strength, and mindset!
~the chains that bind us...being of our own making!!

Quote" We are often bound by defeat because our minds have already defined the loss before we even decide to fight the battle"! -Assuredbyfaith

Today was crazy! I missed church this morning because our alarm went off 20 minutes before it started. Since I'm not moving fast and Elona leads worship I got out of her way, and she somehow made it. I preached tonight. I'm whooped now, and preached a different message. I might post a link to it. Trying to stay awake now to avoid headaches.

The cluster headaches are triggered by sleep and are much more painful. I usually can make 3 days before I crash and have a night of misery.

:hi: Back at work. I industriously stole part of taco's original thought he posted here because the further I went through the day, the more it worked on me- specifically worry, and what worry actually is- a lack of trust. After sitting down yesterday morning and writing about 4 to 5 pages of notes, I was prepared for Sunday night service....got to church, and it blew up. Not literally- but spiritually. I barely brushed my carefully organized notes, God walked the aisles and people responded. Had an old fashioned holy ghost hoe-down. Thankful for people that are receptive to God's will and are willing to follow him....

Unfortunately, I am NOT in a spiritual realm now. I am very much back in a physical realm, and am leaning rather strongly on my Dr Pepper. May God richly bless the brother that invented that drink. It has be a very present help in my time of need, specifically every morning.

Back from my weekend away! Had a great time even though I did not do as much homework as I had hoped. BUT we were so slow today at work that I was sent home an hour and 20 minutes early. Currently between subjects watching the snow fall outside my dorm window.

It looks like yet another pastor/church is going back on their word about our wedding ceremony. Just going to the courthouse then onto our honeymoon is looking better and better.

Essentially it comes down to politics and money. This last one really grinds my gears through because everything was set up and hunky dorry so we ordered invitations. Now the pastor will not give a straight answer to his associate pastor [my uncle] who would be the one doing the ceremony when 2 months ago he said all would be well. I'm just over it. If the pastor cannot give us an answer in the next 2-3 weeks I'm just saying forget the wedding. More money then that we can spend on a honeymoon and getting our home stocked. [Brandon and his dad has essentially ruined all my kitchenwares that were left at their house.]

In TN you don't need a judge or minister. When you buy your license you can opt to get the County Clerk to sign the license and you're married. You can do a ceremony with a clown officiating after that if you want. They offered us the option, Elona said no.

My allergies are wrecking havoc on my face. It feels so puffy. I was up at 3:30, sneezing my head off. Fell back asleep, up again at 6:30. I just got up. Made good choices today lol. Made breakfast, had some coffee, got ready for work, and was at work at 8:03. Can't remember the last time I've been here so early.

The sneezes have yet to dissipate though.  :noo: :cry2:

This is what we were going to do. My uncle is not ordained but we wanted him to perform the ceremony. Now we apparently are not even given permission to use his church for just the ceremony. It's been one issue after another. Even earlier Brandon [who is the one who wanted a ceremony] is ready to just go with a courthouse wedding then a honeymoon.

Had a teacher cancel class so I'm finishing up a little bit a reading for a later class and eating lunch.

Please keep my Mother in prayer. She just fell down some steps and hit her head on the railing! Both of my parents have faced serious health battles this year....she isn't conditioned to be taking a falling. So far it seems as though there is no serious injury; however, my parents like to keep things away from me! Things that will only stress, and worry me. They might not be telling me everything. With all the battles, and health issues I've been facing...my family has been out there in extreme measures; trying to protect and encourage me! Right now I'm in bed sick, and shaking with the chills and fever! My heart is pounding with stress, anxiety, and fear! Sad but sweet; my Mothers is trying to reassure me that nothing is wrong...yet, they've called my siblings for prayer!!

In Jesus Name!!!

Maybe no clown, but... would she have let her puppet officiate? That puppet sure was a good singer.  Sandi Patti the second. The puppet could have done the ceremony and then sang a special.

It's been a loooong day so far. My husband's tire went flat yesterday and he hasn't been able to get it off to put on the spare. He had to work both jobs today so September and I took him to work at 6am, came back home for an hour or so, then I took her to school. Since I had to pick him back up at 9:30, I went on to Target and hung out at starbucks until he got off work. Thankfully, I brought my work laptop home so I was able to get some work done. After he got off work, we had to book it to the hospital for our anatamy ultrasound, then back home for him to try again with his tire. Since he STILL wasn't able to get it changed, I had to drive him to his second job. I'm back working from home now until I have to pick up September from after school care, swing by the library, then go pick Tyler up at work, then head straight to church. *sigh*

Thankfully he is off work tomorrow, so hopefully he will be able to pry that tire off to get it changed so he can drive himself to work on Friday. Sometimes being an adult kinda stinks. lol

Yes, but mostly they take measurements and look at how the baby is developing to make sure everything looks normal.

Bah. it's my Saturday, which means that y'all are rejoicing about the coming weekend, while my weekend is sailing by at warp speed. :pound:
I did a little grocery shopping yesterday, and stumbled by the local dodge dealership on a whim. I should not have done that. I wound up testdriving an absolutely amazing car. A 2010 Dodge Challenger. Hemi,6 speed manual transmission and exhaust pipes that would make the Angel Gabriel jealous. Only two draw backs. The price, although good for that car,  is higher than I need to spend, even though I could definitely use a better car. And as mini pointed out, ya'll would hound me constantly. The car is a limited edition color called "Fusion" with Black leather interior that has contrasting "Fusion" colored baseball stitching thread.
Fusion is remarkably similar to a color from Chrysler's muscle car heydays of the '70's. The color? Panther Pink.
Yes, the car I am considering is pink. I'd call it Raspberry, more of a purplish-pink, but the fact remains- it is pink. And If I buy it, I shall drive it proudly, and shall buy a shirt that says "Real men drive pink cars." And for anyone that doubts my masculinity, I'll take them for a brief ride through the first four gears with those pipes bellowing. They'll change their mind...
Probably the first car I've ever driven that would cause me trouble deciding whether to buy it or another Corvette...

I've had a day of nothing too. I got out this morning for Praise singers practice. But then I came back home around 1, and I've been in my pjs ever since. Glorious day, full of relaxation, rain, food (ok too much), and mostly quiet (neighbors are insane per usual).

Ruby darlin' I do commend thee for motherhood. You're great at it, despite days like today. Hope at some point you got some peace and quiet, and had a cuppa tea.

Peaceful, quiet day here. Drove Rusty to town, did a little grocery shopping, then came home and made Lou some bread- she likes to take a piece of my homemade bread and lay a slice of ham on it for breakfast, and she was out. Then I played in the ham room for a bit, talking to South Africa and a couple other exotic places I shall never see. Now, after a hot bath, I am chillin'. It's good to be king. :hypocrite:

Heather, I'm sorry. It is SO not helpful to hear how wonderful someone else is. Especially on the heels of criticism.  :-( I'm sending you a big hug.

Jenn m'dear.... great at motherhood I am not. Once upon a time I thought I would be/could be. But by now I am quite convinced I am terrible at it. Peace and quiet and cups of tea have not been seen around here today, however......... BELLA IS ASLEEP NOW!! I'm thinking tea is a MARVELOUS idea just now.

Hmm... I was cleaning out some boxes and I found a pack of glue strips.  When did I ever buy glue strips?  Then I remembered some wall hangers... Taco are you missing some glue strips?

In other news, yesterday was a maaaahvelous day.  I tooled around Jackson in a leisurely fashion, stopped at Goodwill and got some used christian CDs I have no idea if I'll like, stopped at the Wal-Mart there and got six 8-packs of wilkinson sword (tm) three-blade razor blades (almost a year of shaving for about $40!) stopped at a sushi place I've never been to and got lunch... er, supper... lupper, stopped at Aldi and reloaded on chocolate.

The wasabi and ginger from lupper I saved.  This morning I made a sandwich with black forest ham, mayo, wasabi and ginger on whole wheat.  A very good way to start out my Sunday.  And on a related note, my sinuses are clear and open.  Strong stuff, that wasabi.

We just had an Aldi open in JC and in Kingsport. I haven't been to either because they've been so crowded. Also with meal plan I have little to no use for groceries.

Our wedding invitations came yesterday after I had left my parents. We have decided to have a small ceremony. My uncle's church has finally given us the go ahead asking simply to clean up and make a donation. [both of which we said we would graciously due prior to this waiting period].

I'm up and doing homework. I'm having to readjust to church time being at 2 in the afternoon. I have made the decision to officially change churches. It was hard. I cried a lot. But there is no hope for me to really move on and grow going to church with my ex and his family. That church will also be a piece of home. My first apostolic church, where I was baptized in both water and the Holy Ghost, and Sis K will always be a momma to me. However after much prayer, thought, and council from trusted people [both in church and out and from both churches] it's time for me to start a new chapter. If you think of it, keep me in your prayers through this transition.

I could be missing glue strips, but right now I can't remember. Nyquil haze on top of this headacche is an adventure.

We're getting an Aldi soon! I like them so much better than Sav-a-lot! Sav-a-lot here is always grungy and makes you feel like you need a shower after leaving. We don't go there much.

Lou just called. I won't be going to church tonight. Chey is running a fever (low). Last time she was sick on church night, Lou stayed with her, so it's my turn. Hope she gets better before tomorrow, otherwise I don't know what we will do, or which of us will stay with home.

I spent another day in bed sick. This infection must go! Worked on some youth stuff. Almost to the point of frustration of handing it over to the parents who aren't backing the youth department.

A zero turn for Chel? Well it figures she would mow the yard... She muscled me out of washing dishes in my own kitchen.                           stubborn little...

I rejoice with all who are getting Aldi in their vicinity.  But that name should never be mentioned in the same post as that other store taco was talking about. >.>  That other store is a low cost, low quality, low maintenance place.  Aldi is a low cost, good quality, clean store.  And Aldi has havarti cheese.  And Moser Roth chocolate. :D

Actually, talking about that-other-store, while I was visiting mom one time I went down there to get some colby cheese for something I was cooking.  That stuff didn't melt like real cheese... it melted into an almost chalky goop.  Before melting it tasted almost normal, but it wasn't real cheese.

Still pray for dad.  Every day is a struggle of one sort or another, and has been for a long time.  He's had some terrible pain on his right side that makes him cry out.  His blood work at treatment today was all good, and they wonder if it could be another shingles outbreak from the physical and mental stress.   Praying it just quits as quickly as it came, he's got way too many things wrong with him to add more.

On the good side, his tumor has visibly shrunk down and a lot of the pain that was directly related to that is better.

It's terribly wearying for everyone.  Can't do anything but ask the Lord to help us.

I've used TaxAct for the past 7 years. Unfortunately this year with some school paperwork and not sure how to factor in my lack of insurance I'm going to let my friend who works for H&R Block do my taxes.

Got up early to come to the campus Starbucks to finish my paper I should have had done a couple days ago. At least I have white chocolate mocha goodness to get me through this morning. Class all day then we are going to get my new phone!!! I actually really like my phone but it's starting to get weird. For example I was trying to text a friend the other day so it tried to call my other friend and it got on google to look up a local mexican eatery. All of that by touching the message box beside my friends name....yeah....

Off to class!

That's the question these days - is it a virus or just good marketing?  If it looked up a mexican eatery I'd say it was marketing. Google ads are everywhere these days.

Roscoe's been busy. I just got back from the Governor's Mansion, hobnobbing with Senators and meeting the state's First Lady. (They had a lunch and I was picked to drive the Senators.) I absolutely loved the grandfather clock in the parlor- made in 1770. If 1) The Mansion is the people's house and 2) I AM the people, couldn't I take that clock to my house and it just be "rearranging the furniture"? :hypocrite:

That's one thing I would buy back when I worked at a certain factory.  They had a vending machine in the break room that had double oatmeal creme pies.  I'd buy either that or a pack of fritos.

That was a good seven years ago.  I don't think they sell them around here any more.  Or at least I can't find them.  All I can find is the singles.

Well. I am feeling quite accomplished. My old computer that died horrifically sometime back has been laying around the house. When I bought my "new" computer, it came with a Windows 7 disc. I figured I had nothing to lose, since I'd saved all the pics and stuff I could salvage from the "SAFE" settings, so I decided to wipe it clean, format the hard drive, and install the Windows 7 O.S.
Simple stuff for Isaac, no doubt, but close to the equivalent of me landing the space shuttle.
Took me an hour or so....but I am typing on my newly renewed "old" computer. Feeling very pleased, and confident indeed. :hypocrite:

The first time is the hardest because you know the theory, but you aren't quite sure it will work in practice.  Fortunately Win7 installs fairly seamlessly.

I remember back when I had never so much as taken the lid off a computer before.  Chel came by and we had determined that a desktop computer needed a new DVD drive, so she just popped the top off and started unscrewing things.  Made me a bit nervous...

And in sharing, I got my butt up and took my wife out for breakfast. Then I came to the library where I am soaking up their free internet to install virus protection and ham radio programs on Lazarus, the Resurrected Computer. Tis the weekend. Alas I work tomorrow....

Was told I was working over today. I would have graciously done it had I been asked, but no. I was told. So therefore I was a cranky pants. After work I went with Brandon and his dad. His dad bought a car. Thank you Jesus!!! Brandon took me out to dinner and we had a heart to heart. We are going to start looking for him an apartment in the next 1-2 months closer to our hometown. He's nervous to leave his dad over an hour away with or without a car. This helps too since my parents can co-sign for our electric and that saves us a huge deposit. Also where we are looking will in theory let us keep a dog. Homing 2 dogs is difficult. Home only 1 will be easier because his mom will take it

Off to do some homework before bed!

The game is a foot this morning...

It's almost like GOD has me in a mystery novel. HE hasn't given me the next clue yet though.

This whole post leaves me clueless... Not sure what he's talking about.
I was contacted by 2 ministers today one knew history on me, and was informing me he "co-pastorrs" in Florence AL and they're praying about having us later this year.

Right after that another guy who contacted me a few weeks back asking me to pray about "what GOD wants me to do in Tulsa" contacted me wanting to know "do you feel prompted yet". Strange thing is he is licensed with the UPC but doesn't pastor and none of the 5 licensed ministers I know in Oklahoma know him.

The mystery thickens.

Hmm... I'd say pray hard about that.  It could be a wonderful thing, it could be a bad thing.  The only thing it is probably not is a mediocre thing.

I just wish  the OK guy would give me a little more direction. He keeps just asking if I "feel a prompting yet". Then suddenly has to go once I answer. Almost like he wants no questions asked.

Glad the last 2 days are done at work. I'm plum wore out. Now to homework myself to sleep this evening. Wake up, do more homework then go to church.

:waving: Lou, Chey and I took advantage of Lou being off this past Saturday and left out Friday night for an overnighter. Stayed in Fayetteville, and went to see the Crystal Bridges Art museum. Some cool stuff there, and ALOT of weird stuff they claimed was art. It was free, so I won't complain.
Then we stopped at the Walmart museum, which was free, then ate a delicious burger, which was anything BUT free, at a nearby restaurant. Two burgers, no fries, two Dr Peppers, a grilled cheese, and a kids' Dr Pepper- $27 . :o  I nearly left them a mess at the register when they told me the total. I'd been better off to add ten bucks and find a steakhouse.
Then we moseyed our way home the back way, stopping at flea markets and Corvettes for sale all along the way. Tried to get Galoot and family to meet up and eat, but they were busy, given the short notice.
Now I'm back at work, trying to decide whether I should try to buy one of the Corvettes I looked at. It is priced much more attractively than the Challenger I looked at the other day....I might go see what Ye Olde Bank has to  say in regards to the deal, since I will be needing their financial assets to make it happen....

Have I made any comments yet on this forum about the guy I've been taking to work?  Well there's this guy named Billy who works where I work, and for a month or so he has been without a car, so I've been taking him to work.  He's a nice enough guy - calls the managers at work sir and ma'am, calls me sir sometimes (which makes me feel old...) but he's definitely nowhere near a christian.  He's always talking about how drunk he got last night, how he and his girlfriend spent the night (he doesn't get too graphic, for this mercy much thanks) and how much trouble he's having with his "baby's momma" and he might let a cuss word slip here and there.  I never preach to him but he knows I'm a christian, I don't do any of that stuff... and I think he has noticed I have a better life than he does.  I don't mention it (especially not that way!) but I think he has noticed it.

So last Sunday night he came to church.  And weeee, we had a great service!  He said he might come again tonight.

Second week in a row no church. :( Trying to keep my head up and encouraged, but Jason and no church makes for a VERY unhappy camper. IAnother example of how GOD works. as a kid I hated church now I can't make it without it.

I go back to the doctor Tuesday. Hopefully, I show some improvement. I found out I get to go to the mini men's retreat at ladies retreat next month. The church is covering Elona and I get to go with her. The sound guy and the PPH guys are friends of mine we get to see each other this way. Plus I get out of these 4 walls.

Anyone know a live feed church service other than POA or POK?

:hi: Survived another day. Had a good friend to whom I vent, bounce ideas off of, and otherwise trust his judgment talk me off of the cliff of buying a Corvette- for now. Came home and "put my foot in it" as Chey says, about dinner. (That is a compliment meaning I done good, contrary to the way it sounds). I made chicken and rice with mushroom gravy, fried tators with onions, green beans, and a few slices of my homemade bread...
And Lou and I had a long talk about finances and tax refunds, and I think we've ironed out what bills get paid, how much goes into savings, and how much we can spend..I hate those talks usually, but since we most often are on the same page, albeit with slightly different viewpoints, it's usually not as bad as I imagine it will be.
If I could give any young couple marriage advice other than the usual put God first and always treat your spouse like you've just fallen in love with them, every day, I would tell them- "Debt will kill your marriage as fast as any affair will. Avoid it at all costs, and make sure you agree with each other moneywise." It will be a loooong road if one of you is a saver and the other spends every penny without a thought for tomorrow.... This is a lesson (about debt) I wish I had took to heart long ago, and it caused us considerable friction in the past.
Thankfully, my wife leaves most finances up to me and generally goes along with my decisions, which means the resulting mess can only be blamed- on me. I have had to work at self control, since I am a recovering impulse buyer....

it's not so pretty here. it's 30, dreary, and that wind is icey. I got up and tried to go to class but my knees are just not having it today. I've lost track of how many ibuprofen i've taken today and nothing is touching them. Did get my FAFSA filled out for next year though so I guess that's a positive.

When my knee was acting up so bad that I went to the doctor with it, ibuprofen didn't help much.  He gave me a script for a stronger than OTC naproxen sodium (like Aleve).  It helped.

Infections worse, my throat, tongue, larynx, and esophagus are all swollen, and they added 5 more meds and co-pays. I'm so sick of being sick!

This all has to end soon!

Ask for prayer on FB and a so called minister tells me if I really trust GOD I'd throw the meds away and either live or die.

Then he said it couldn't be right because it tries to define God; and God can't be defined! We are the ones in the box not God!!!

I suppose I'm thankful he acknowledges that God exists and is infinite! 😐

So, I just threw out(donated) three trash bags full of books. Why, you say? Because when I want peace I immerse myself in the word of God, or I seek his presence; when I want to hide; I find a book! Unfortunately, with all I have been going through lately...I've been hiding more than I've been seeking! I don't want a fictional world to take up more time then I give to God!

Now...I just have to keep myself away from book stores!!!

Today was my feet. I woke up probably half a dozen times last night with terrible foot cramps. Got up this morning and my gout was trying to flare up in my right foot. Got to work and overheard my new supervisor on the phone finalizing his plan to move his former drivers from carquest to AZ but didn't know what he would do with us.  I guess it's time to try to find a new job.

So...I'm a photographer; I mostly do scenic, still life, advertising, etc...I recently started to get into portrait photography! Mostly family photos, wedding, and church events!  I haven't charged for my work as of yet...it's sort of been just for fun! Several people have encouraged me to start a business...

Here is some of the advice I received last night...  :o I should open up a business with another person who does photography; because they would do the photos I would refuse to take; meaning "boudoir" photography!!  :o  :o :o

I asked this person what it would promote; if I as an Apostolic Pentecostal associated with something I disagreed with; and would never do myself?  Their reply was: "Sometimes you have to compromise to get a business started"!  :frustrated:

Sorry...I don't compromise! Not when it comes to faith, modesty, honor, etc!!!

In the words of the great Confuse-Us: Many people give advice.  Usually they have no idea what they are talking about.

People have told me I should start a bakery (because I bake sourdough bread) or I should start a computer shop (because I make their computers behave and stop acting up.) But all these are people who spent their lives WORKING FOR SOMEONE ELSE. I have never had one single person who owns his own business tell me I should start a business doing this or that.

In other words, the only people who tell me "you should start a business doing this" are the ones who have no idea what they are talking about.

So this was so completely out there! I'm sure my facial expression was hilarious!!!  :o  Especially since this person knows what I believe...and that I hold to modesty, and holiness standards!!  :-\

:hi: I'm so evil. :hypocrite:
Since she won't read this, I'll share here.
Lou's been wanting an iPad for some song app- nothing but iPad would do. Her friend got one......so, after viewing the price, I explained we couldn't afford it, yada,yada...got her good and stirred up. And disappointed.
What she didn't know- I have stashed back a little cash for that and had planned on ordering one for Valentine's Day as soon as I could get confirmation on which model I needed. After talking to our own Lady Wooby's brother, David, I placed the order....
She's gonna be sorry for being mean to me over this....heh,heh.

So it's Valentines Day weekend and I'm going to my first singles event ever.... I'm not sure how that makes me feel!  😏😖😊  Mostly I have been caught by life...work, pay bills, work, pay bills, sleep very little, stress, work...trying to make it through day by day!  I've never really worried about meeting the "right" man! I just sort of figured it would happen! 😏 Sadly, even with my list of qualities narrowed down to just four things; I still haven't met him! I don't want to be married and miserable... So I'm still waiting!

That's nuts.  That kind of photography is specialized anyway.  I don't think MOST photographers even do that. My daughter does photography, too.  I KNOW she wouldn't do that.

Right, Chel?
Right. I would never do that. Not even for the ones that are wanting it for their husband. There is nothing good that can come out of taking pictures of stuff that should be hidden.

Assuredbyfaith:  You did notice you have been reduced to quoting yourself, right?  :P

And by the way, that kind of photography I don't think anyone around here does.  I haven't asked, but the photographers I know I'm fairly sure they wouldn't do that.

Bobby: I would protest the iJunk-only mindset, but I've given up. I have learned people are going to fixate on what they think is "best" and they don't want me to bring up things like facts to confuse the issue.  I just buy what I like and let them buy what they like.  And when they run into problems I will try to help them, and I will try my dead level best to NOT say "I told you so" but in the end they are going to get what they want no matter what.

But really, nothing but an iJunk will do?  *sigh*

I recently got a tablet. I went with the LG G 7.0. I have no complaints. After switching from iPhone 2 years ago I refuse to purchase any new Apple products. I do still have an old iPod that's been around for 7 years now. I've had no reason to get rid of it and it has a ridiculous amount of storage.

My rm has the sniffles so therefore she is dying.  Thankfully she will be gone with weekend and I received a housesitting call for next wednesday to monday. Just in time too. My sanity level was bottoming out.

I'm firmly in the anything but Apple category- but apparently the particular program- "OnSong"- is an Apple-only app. I looked for a android equivalent, but they truthfully don't have one yet that does everything that Apple's does. So, since I had been blocked by that, I did the next best thing- I used "Call-a-Nerd" and contacted one of my wonderful nerd friends who has experience in that particular area. Then I took his advice and bought refurbished directly from the manufacturer.

As do I. As well as my MacBook (the second one I've willingly purchased tyvm).
And this weekend I'm getting the new iPhone 6! Happy Devils love holiday to me!

As a graphic designer, my apple products have and will always outweigh any windows based program.
I'll never switch.

Ask for prayer on FB and a so called minister tells me if I really trust GOD I'd throw the meds away and either live or die.

Well. That was helpful.

Some people make me angry. Which is kind of stupid. Since it's mostly ignorant people that make me angry. If they're ignorant, they can't help it, right? In which case, I probably shouldn't get angry.

Aaaaanyhow.

ROSCOE!! Stay away from my baby brother! He's (mostly) a pretty great guy and I don't want you warping him! (But don't tell him I said that. lol)

There is an Android version that does everything the IPad version does but it's $130 for the download compared to $10.

I'm thinking and hoping I don't know anyone who does this around, near, far... FYI, I would starve right to death and live on the streets before I associated with such things! If you associate with things; regardless if you aren't participating...you are sort of promoting the idea that it's not completely wrong!

I'm still puzzled by the fact that it was part of someone's advice on compromising for the sake of money and material gain! 😒  Which, is made even stranger by the fact that I have a really good job...and I in no way have to compromise for material gain; or to put food on the table!   :-\

I will be polite and nice and not say what I really think about people seemingly thinking there is nothing wrong with it...regardless of what you believe in! :hypocrite:

How do people come up with this stuff? :smirk2:

Someone told me I should refuse to believe anything the doctors say! If I don't accept something; it won't happen!!! Or be happening?

Sadly, I'm confused...because I am not finding anywhere in the bible were God said: " If you deny it...I will heal you"!!!  ..."If you refuse to accept it ...I will change your reality"! ?

Lynx, Yes, I just quoted myself...again!!! :P

Tonight the speaker at single conference said this: " You are not single by desire, you are single by design"!

I'm not sure how I feel about this... Wondering if I'm single for God's reasoning/His Will for the time being! Or will it be forever?

I'm wondering how to let go of wanting to have a helpmate? I'm pretty sure I will find this tough to do....

Apparently... you are counting. Yup.

A 42 MP camera can be a good thing, or a bad thing... Depends on how well it takes pictures, which is not solely a function of megapixels.
