Programs and Updates

ok, my computer has been running slower than usual and my adaware program (lavasoft) wasn't being able to update.  So I removed it and looked for any other programs that needed cleaned out.  Many programs have updates, and after awhile it starts taking up quite a lot of space.  So my question is for all you computer goo roos is:

Are all 3 of these necessary for the latest version?

JavaTime SE Runtime Enviroment 6 update one        134.00 MB
JavaTime 6 update 3                                             111.00 MB
Java 2 Runtime Enviroment SE v.1.4.2                      84.35 MB

now is it my ignorance or is this a lot of MB on one computer for java? of which I think I rarely use.
