Seems the NFL is cracking down on church parties. CLICK HERE (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/nfl/specials/playoffs/2006/02/01/bc.fbn.superbowl.church.ap/index.html?cnn=yes)
From the article:
Quote
"It just frustrates me that most of the places where crowds are going to gather to watch this game are going to be places that are filled with alcohol and other things that are inappropriate for children," Newland said. "We tried to provide an alternative to that and were shut down."
Church is no place for the Super Bowl any way. It is a place to worship God.
Fellowship halls aren't used to worship God though, haha. 'Cept in a prayer over the food.
That's where most church groups watch the Superbowl.. either that or a gym.
Disclaimer: I didn't read the article. :)
Sorry... You're right some churches probably do watch them in a fellowship hall or something. But There is a Christian church I went to as a little girl and they watched it on the big projector screen in the sanctuary and it REALLY bugged me. So mostly I was just venting from that! LOL Sorry.
I sometimes wonder about the whole "sanctuary" thing in a church building.
