I spent all evening cleaning out the shop. I'm wore out, but it looks much better. Little by little, I am reclaiming my homestead from the clutter and disorganization that has stolen it over the past few years.

Besides, Cheyenne is about to wear out the EasyBake oven she got for her birthday, and she is only happy when I am eating those quarter size cookies. I'm probably eating 1,000 calories a day of just her "cooking". :P
I remember when my sister got one of those easy-bake ovens. I was so disappointed it didn't get hot enough to cook real recipes...
Look on the bright side, at least she can't bake you a batch of brownies in it. ;)

Got some ducks in the mail today.
Didn't do much of anything today aside from tend fowl, and take mom to a dermatologist appointment and such.
She is currently in the throws of one of her sick spells....I hope it's just one of her usual things she seems to have every once in a while that hits her and then passes. We don't need anything else in this poor nursing home of a house.

Working today and tomorrow. I've worked all week so far...my paycheck will be another nice one... :freaky2:
Hopefully fishing on Saturday...try out my new lure. And Sunday I might go back to Panama City to hear bro Abernathy again. Just waiting on a decision from the lady I'll ride with.

I see no one is talking....so I'll share. Got the Lincoln back. Apparently it simply burned a relay out. $16. Plus, of course, labor and trouble shooting, which brought the total to $160. MUCH better than my fears- Thank you, Lord. Went straight over to my friend's car lot and test drove a little S10 he has. It's older than the Lincoln, but half the miles and I know how to work on it. We are negotiating prices. I might trade with him.
Then I came home and mowed the yard. Tomorrow, I have two yards to mow, plus the library trip, plus picking up a few groceries in anticipation of guests.....:clap: Sadly, Lou has to work all weekend, but she will be home after 3pm... oh, and they are having "64 Galore" this weekend- 150+ miles of garage sales down the side of the highway....
Too bad the 64 galore doesn't extend to where I can reach it...

I read an article a while back that said that parents would attach the postage to little ones' coats and send them with the postman, who would relay them place to place until they reached their destination. Most of Hwy 64- you'll remember this is the old main road through our town, past the library, runs almost all the way to Mini's house- will be lined with garage sales. Heavily concentrated in the towns....they claim something like 160 miles of yard sales I think. Last year, or year before, there were everything from guns, to knickknacks to a genuine coffin for sale. Thankfully it was new, not used......It's heaven for a junker....

There's stipulations on what you can mail...you can mail newly hatched poultry, or poultry that is of a certain age/size/weight that is older, and adult birds. You can mail other stuff like bugs and bees and what not too.

Ok the only pot pies I see in the breakfast is a Banquet ham, cheese and potato pot pie. There are some hot pocket looking ones that have steak and egg and cheese, or sausage and egg in them. And plenty of ready made biscuits and sausage and stuff like ham McMuffins. No sasuage gravy pot pie. The only thing I saw with the gravy was a Bob Evans bowl thing with a biscuit and gravy.

Yeah, the sausage and gravy pot pie is the same brand, Banquet. Also same color box as the potato/ham/cheese. Those two are the only ones with an orange/yellow box. Grandma practically lived on those for a few months, but now she never gets them anymore. Strange they would have everything EXCEPT sausage gravy over there.
Well. Got up, steam cleaned the floors, washed the guest bedding as instructed by the spousal unit, cleaned up the rest of the house.....went to town and mowed the church yard. Nearly killed myself by driving off the embankment. Thank God for the concrete wall stopping me. That's one thing I don't like about the new Zero turn. Stopping is not its strong point. :smirk:
Collateral damage was it letting the air out of the front tire. Aired it up, then went and mowed the other yard I cut. Now- I've came back home to dry the guest room bedding and pick up the Lincoln. Then it's back to town to grocery shop, and maybe the library and run by the 64 Galore thingie...shew, lands I am tired.....
I am spending the whole day doing absolutely nothing of any redeeming value whatsoever. But just reading all that stuff Bobby is doing made me tired.

Grocery shopping done, steaks marinating- may or may not get to grill them, as it is looking like rain- cheesecake in the oven, hamburger defrosting for Chey's "Cowboy Beans" that she wanted.
In other news, I am fixing to dispose of Chey's cat. Chey just had to have it, so I gave in and let her. He's cute, active, and destructive. I don't want to declaw him, because I have no intention of allowing him to be an inside cat indefinately. But he has scratched each of us up. I also caught him on the couch with his claws making little needle marks in the leather- the furniture that took us 10 years to get.
Then tonight, I find that he has climbed up on the crate we lock him in at night and destroyed a foot square section of wallpaper in the bathroom. Last straw. Chey's crying but this devil from hell is destroying everything I work for faster than I can fix it. It's half a step from being killed, as opposed to being given away. :mad:

When I was growing up we always had a cat. The trick is to learn the sound that in cat language means "don't do that." I'd call you Bobby and demonstrate, but I can't remember your house phone number.
My little sweetheart Nancia, the most recent cat I had, responded very well to it. If she did something I didn't want her to do I'd make the sound and she'd stop and look up at me. I would make the sound again and she'd calmly turn around and walk away from whatever it was.

So last night at church this 13 year old girl, Alexis (who is far more intelligent than the average 13 year old, almost disturbingly so) sang "Blessings" by Laura Story, with that soundtrack I made for Sis. Ruby. Before she was halfway through it half the church was in tears. Before she was done *I* had tears. And when she hit the part about "the rain, the wind, the coldest night" SHE was crying.
Had a great weekend! Did exactly what I said I would do. Caught a bass with my new lure, and went to Panama on Sunday. Got in at about 11:45 last night and slept till 10 this morning.
Headed for the shower now and then to work at 3.
I'm wanting waffles...luckily, there is a box in the freezer. :fork:

Another day, another drama-filled work shift. No drama directed at or because of me, but still... bleh!
Sure will be glad when Wednesday night church time gets here and I can be around some normal people for a change.
And in a surprising and refreshing reversal of what Isaac just posted- drama free work day. In fact, at present time, things are going well indeed.
On a personal note- I may be stuck with the Lincoln for some time, as my friend and I were unable to strike a deal on the trade. Must be God's will. Scheduled to preach/teach tomorrow night. Have a thread of a thought, typed some notes, still feel kinda "BLAH" undecided on it- we'll see what God says tomorrow. At least I'm not walking up with nothing- which has been the case in past times.I think God is trying to beat me over the head with the whole "open your mouth and I will put words in it" concept.
I study, I plain read without studying, I pray- and it seems like when I apply myself to put together a sermon, at least 75% of the time I get instant block. Weird thing is, I'm not nervous or anything. Used to , the thought of having to preach brought cold sweats, and the thought of doing so without a note was faint inducing. Now- I know God will do what is necessary, if I get out of the way and let Him use me.
I still don't think there's any fear of me becoming a conference speaker though. :lol:
What's really neat is when someone at work, or at the store, or wherever strikes up a conversation about God or religion and you suddenly notice you are rattling off bible verses you didn't know you knew and explaining them with an insight you didn't know you had, and all the while you're talking to them you're thinking to yourself "How did I know that?!" :cool:

Here was my morning... Lol. I felt like roscoe!
Dear Robbie, I just want to start this with saying I am sorry for the mess in the kitchen, I promise to fix it when I get home tonight... But this is how it happened: So you know this morning I got up and had a few extra hours before I had to be at work so I thought I would cook something. Or a few something's since we have company that may come this weekend... Well, it started out with getting the pie crust dough that I had waiting for me in the fridge soft enough to work with- so I stuck it in the microwave on defrost, and it worked perfectly. Yes! Well then I needed the butter melted, so I thought I would put it in the microwave on defrost just like the dough- well, it worked... Much faster... So much that I had butter all over the microwave... So I fixed that, finished mixing up the Mississippi mud, got it in the oven and it's going great. So on to the pies! I got the dough for the first 2 fixed, and ready for the filling, and they end up becoming pecan pies, but when I went to switch out the cake for the pies in the oven- somehow the oven turns itself off...but I don't notice this as I am trying to get the last pie dough thawed and ready... Well, apparently I pushed the wrong button on the microwave because all of the sudden I hear a large pop from the microwave, and my pie crust is sitting there frying, with the bag exploded. So I take it out, put the crust in the pie pan, and do the obvious thing- decide to make it into a precooked pie crust for a cream pie. Why not? Robbie likes coconut. So I put it in the pie shell, make it look decent, and stick it in the oven to finish frying... And 30 precious minutes go by with not much cooking going on... So I check the oven, finally realize it's not cooking, end up restarting the oven, and by this time I have just a few minutes to spare. So I run to take a quick shower, while the oven is getting back up to temperature, and come back in 5 minutes to find the top pecan pie is totally black and charred... And everything else in the oven not even close to cooking yet... And realize why this oven has to be preheated before you put the food into it... So I take out the top pecan pie, put it on the sink, and close the oven again... Go back to the pie on the sink- and scrape the whole top layer of carbon off the pecan pie to get down to the not at all cooked part underneath it- and put it back in to see if I can salvage the rest of it. I again notice that the oven isn't cooking, restart it, and realize it is probably the cookie sheets being turned sideways and keeping the door a tad bit open that is causing the oven to keep auto shutting off. So I fix that, and the pies are finally cooking... So I go to make the coconut pie. I have it on the stove heating up, have the eggs cracked in a bowl, and am separating the yolks and putting them in the pot to cook. Well, I accidentally get some of the egg white in the pie pot- and thinking I had just turned it on, it shouldn't be hot yet- I reach in and get the egg white glop out... And touch the burning hot pot bottom at the same time... Apparently it was hot already on the bottom! So I fix that, wash the burning sugar off my fingers, and get the pie filling stirred as it is almost to the point of scorching already... Somehow the filing gets cooked, mixed together, and taken off the burner with no further incidents, just in time for me to turn around, see the pie crust starting to smoke, and grab it right in time... While noticing that the top pecan pie- with the top crust already black- is getting really done on top but not in the middle... So I try to redirect the heat by putting an empty cookie sheet on the very top shelf of the oven... And realize I have only 5 minutes until time to leave for work... So I set the timer for 5 minutes, put the coconut pie together, clean up what little bit of the kitchen I can, stick all the stuff I need to take to work in a bag, grab the cooled Mississippi mud, minus the frosting I forgot at home... Turn the oven off and hope that the pies will finish cooking while I am at work, and run out the door to go to work... And get down the road one mile and realize I an ebbing a huge logging truck going 25mph down the road... I ended up getting to work, and clocked in with no minutes to spare... It was literally 10:30 when my badge swiped... That was close...

Dear Robbie, I just want to start this with saying I am sorry for the mess in the kitchen, I promise to fix it when I get home tonight... Well, apparently I pushed the wrong button on the microwave because all of the sudden I hear a large pop from the microwave, and my pie crust is sitting there frying, with the bag exploded. So I take it out, put the crust in the pie pan, and do the obvious thing- decide to make it into a precooked pie crust for a cream pie. Why not? Robbie likes coconut. So I put it in the pie shell, make it look decent, and stick it in the oven to finish frying... And 30 precious minutes go by with not much cooking going on... So I check the oven, finally realize it's not cooking, end up restarting the oven, and by this time I have just a few minutes to spare. So I run to take a quick shower, while the oven is getting back up to temperature, and come back in 5 minutes to find the top pecan pie is totally black and charred... And everything else in the oven not even close to cooking yet... And realize why this oven has to be preheated before you put the food into it... So I take out the top pecan pie, put it on the sink, and close the oven again... Go back to the pie on the sink- and scrape the whole top layer of carbon off the pecan pie to get down to the not at all cooked part underneath it- and put it back in to see if I can salvage the rest of it. Rusty had an injector start leaking. Fairly simple to replace but kinda pricy at $70 new. Really didn't want to spend that due to the Lincoln drama recently, so I talked with Kim about parts-robbing a pickup that she has. (I'm gonna buy the whole truck after the first of the year and use parts off of it, parking it on my junkyard land). Got Rusty's bad part isolated and removed, then went over to rob the needed part. Stupid bolt holding it down is stripped. Either buy a new part or completely dissassemble the parts truck, which I really don't need to do right now where it sits.
And I need Rusty running, as he is not only my strees relief but my back-up transportation. Bah. Stupid parts. :mad:

Discovered that my sister Tami had a stroke last night and is in Conway hospital. Of course NO one called me to let me know. I will go by and check on her in person this evening. So much for the youth rally Bro Wilson wanted me to attend with him. To be candid, I really wasn't looking forward to the rally, mainly because I don't like crowds and already have to take one of my nights off (tomorrow night) for a make-up night shoot, but I really didn't want to miss so I could go to a hospital.... LORD. If I don't go by and check on her, I worry AND I look like an uncaring idiot.
It'd be nice to have a cabin in the hills right now, and move there for a few weeks away from anyone.

I've had the entire hall to myself this week. They moved us all from summer housing to our fall assignments. I'm in one of the oldest buildings on campus. The first night was terrible. The second night I was allowed to move to my permanent room on the second floor. Also went by housing and I'm currently not assigned a roommate so I may get the whole semester by myself. [cough cough Mel. that means I have a spare bed in my room. cough.]
This is our last weekend before everyone starts to move in. The first wave comes in on Wednesday. There goes my excellent parking space. sigh. Thankful for the subcompact now though. I can fit my Yaris just about anywhere.
My former car [my horrible Passport] was sold at auction and now funnily enough lives out near Brandon's house in Holston Valley. He passes it all the time. He hates that car. hahahahaha.

Got a call as I was headed to Conway to check on sister. Yesterday or around then, apparently some destructive idiot broke into our church. :mad: Didn't steal a thing. Just emptied a fire extingusher all over the men's prayer room, threw the brand new cordless mic against the wall shattering it, then broke into pastor's office. He took a decorative knife off the wall there, punched two holes in the sheetrock, broke the glass out of all the picture frames, then left the knife stuck in the wall. Oh, and the idiot shoved the drumsticks through the bass drum.
He better hope God or the city police locate him and I don't. 'Cause where I put those drumsticks will hurt him more than they did our drumset...I promise that.

In better news, those sausage gravy breakfast pot pie things Isaac was telling me about, I mush have looked when we were out of stock, cause I looked again today and they had magically appeared. So I bought 4 of them. They were $1.00 each. Then I get home, Donna was gone to the store, and when she had returned, she too had found them at WM, and bought two for me. They were 0.94 at WM. Lol so now I have pleanty of them. I sure hope they are good now that I have a bunch I have to eat.
And in other work news...I was right about not wanting to go to work today...UGH. About noon I text Donna and told her I was on the verge of just sitting in the floor and bursting into tears. I was stressed and tired and for some reason, just emotional and felt like I couldn't handle it all. It lasted clear up till I clocked out and went home. Not a bad day really from a work standpoint, we were busy ALL DAY, and it wasn't a bad busy, but for some reason, I was just not with it and my emotions were whacked. But I made it.
In other other work news, we had this manager, who I will call Mr L. I didn't like him much, he was ok, but we really didn't get too friendly since I started at WD. No one really liked him, and a lot of the other employees talked bad about him frequently. I was off on Wednesday, and apparently a bunch of people from corporate came in, fired Mr L and brought us in a new store manager...when I went to work yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised that Mr L was gone and the manager that took his place?...one of our managers from my previous job at Harvey's! I love this guy! And so far, he has been in our store for just three days and there has been a MAJOR difference! I am so glad of that!
I'm off the weekend...I was wanting to go to Pensacola like I always do for the Summer Revival with Bro Stoneking, but it's been cancelled cause Bro S has to have an emergency surgery and hospital stay so he won't be making it to Fl to preach for us. :(
And I think that is all.
Well. Got up this morning and took Chey flea market shopping....one of the fle markets HAd a kid's size violin that she wanted, but we didn't have the cash for it when we saw it recently. So she decides she wants to take the money out of savings for it. I let her do so, but when we got to the flea market, that particular booth was closed and everything gone. She was heartbroken- until we went by the second flea market and she found a kid's size wooden rocker she just HAD to have. I'm happy too- it's much quieter than the violin would've been...:lol:
Came home and fixed Rusty's newly developed leak. I'd knew he was leaking some coolant for the past little bit but could not find where for the life of me. Just enough that I would have to top it off every few weeks, no puddles. Became apparent this morning....there's a coolant tube very near the injector I just replaced. It had a pinhole and was jetting a tiny stream out. A hacksaw, hose clamp and ten minutes knocked that out...
Been to some yard sales & then to SAMs club.
The gravy pot pie is delicious!
Had one for breakfast and I enjoyed it.

(Our new family motto is "Use everything but the squeal, and skin it" when it comes to groceries)- AND I made a "Chocolate lasagna", also known as a four layer delight, for dessert. Fabulous. Simply fabulous.
Four layer delight is in fact fabulous, but I never heard it called chocolate lasagna.
If we're talking about supper... I had no idea how it would turn out, but tonight I mixed up some egg, flour, oil and some tomato curry chutney I had in the fridge, and poured the glop over some fish fillets. Baked the whole mess in the oven for a while and it was really good! I was surprised.
Yeah, I'd never heard it called that either, until a friend posted a recipe titled that on facebook. I couldn't resist, as I am a lover of lasagna and a lover of chocolate, so I grabbed everything. I've never made a 4 layer delight, since Kim always makes them, so I wasn't sure exactly what it was until I had it assembled and realized I'd just made one of my favorite desserts ever....:laughhard:

Day 2 of range is behind me. It was even hotter today than yesterday. One of my friends posted on facebook that it was 103 degrees with a heat index of 118. I drank alot of water and now I've made it home in the a/c.....I pity people that have to work in this every day. I don't know how they do it, unless they build up a tolerence for it. I sure haven't..

I am perturbed at a certain nameless box retailer.
We need an air conditioner (window). We go to buy one. $158 online. $250 in store. I ask associate if they will match online price. I'm assured they will. We get to front of the store and we are told they won't match their OWN online price. Yet I can go online, buy it, have it shipped to that same store for the lower price.

I've taken a wild hair to buy a tractor. One that I can do a lot of things with other than what I can with our one antique one that halfway functions, but needs the carb rebuilt to really run right. Needs rewired to, but gets by as is. But...anyhoo.
I've looked at John Deere, Massey Ferguson, Kubota, and New Holland. John Deere is off the list, they are high as a kite and made of plastic all over. The others all have metal hoods and fenders and better prices. Drove 2 Masseys. Just looked at the others. I need to do a point by point comparison of them all and see what features are most important to me and what is the best fit.

My dad ended up getting a kubota
Much as it pains me- if I were buying one, I'd go with a Kubota. They are economically priced- at least for a high as a cat's back piece of equipment- and seem to have real good reviews. In fact, I've never heard a negative comment from a Kubota owner. I'd love to have one but 1) can't afford it and 2) couldn't justify the expense if I could. Not that something like that has ever stopped me before. :smirk:
Got a new battery for the Corvette, in anticipation of selling it. Done some other minor repairs. Runs like a striped- butt ape, as my Dad woulda said. Got a wild hair and test drove a new Ford F150. Debating selling ALL my junk- Canyon, Lincoln, and Corvette- paying the Canyon's note off and buying a brand new vehicle. It'd mean a payment for 3 years longer than I have now, but I'm going to the poor house in a handbasket trying to keep these beaters running. And when I DO get the Canyon paid off, I'll have all three of them wore completely out, meaning another payment- so why not give in and buy one now?

I have decided on the Massey Ferguson 2605 tractor. I kept gravitating to it. It's a small farm tractor rather than a big compact tractor.

All the managers at work are under a lot of stress, and have been rather high strung lately. I'm not the cause of any of the trouble, and none of the results are directed at me, but it still makes for a rather tense workplace. Wish I could help, or give some kind of useful advice, or... something, anything, but I can't.
I hate slow internet. I've tried to look up an example of Seth's tractor, but it won't load. :pound:
Came in, listened to it pouring rain for another hour or so, talked on the radio a bit, then came inside and put together- partially- a message that has been working me over. Anything further will have to be added by God later. :smirk2:

Came home, went to church, where Bro Wilson attempted an ambush by telling me I was preaching. No fear- I had a thought worked up. God was all over the place during worship service, and I wound up preaching on my thought- but not using much of the notes I'd labored over. Finished up feeling like I'd ran a marathon...:lol:

See, the neighbours' two little girls, age 8 and 6, come to our house after school until their mama gets home. Thus, I have to scoot to get from Little Rock to home, a 45 minute drive on a good day, before the bus runs.
Today, they were scheduled to have a "Rah-rah, go team" type meeting at work- from 3 to 5 pm. No way I can make the meeting and be home for the kiddoes, so I beg and plead, and tick off my sergeant, for a vaction day.
I took vacation, spent the day getting a few things done around the house, just completely wasted the day. The bus runs.....right by my house. The kids' dad is at home. Argh!! I could've saved a vacation day if I'd known he was going to be off.
Oh well. At least I have sweet coleslaw made, and a roast with carrots and potatoes in the oven.
I bet your own little girl is happy about that arrangement, having friends over every day after school.

Ah good, at least I'm not the only one. Yesterday my minivan's left front shock apparently just flat gave out. it started making a noise like busted suspension, and when you push down on the front of the vehicle the left front won't bound-rebound at all.
The sun comes up and the sun goes down.
Hands on the clock they just keep going around.
I just get up and its time to lay down.

I shut the door and I'm sweating again.

I took Chey to school in the Corvette. I'm marking it as a red letter day, since it made it home trouble free. Maybe I've finally got it reliable. :-)
I came home, got the Canyon/BadBoy combo, and went back to the church, where I took out the tall grass.... Now trying to decide what to do next..

The weather we've had this summer has made the grass thrive. Up until the last week or so, I could mow without getting dusted out, which in an Arkansas summer is unheard of... but it's caused me to mow every week, sometimes twice a week. Except for at my 1/2 acre junkyard- I haven't mowed it in five years or so. I keep it high because it hides my junk treasure, which decreases the likelihood that Scrapper Methhead will haul them off.
I had a Troybuilt weed wacker- loved it, until it quit starting. So I went this spring and bought a new, albeit cheap, Murray....I've used it maybe a dozen times. Now it either won't start, or will start and run for twenty seconds, then die. Stupid thing. :pound:
Grass here this year has been slow to grow....at least in some cases.... It's not been dry, been pretty mild, but grass hasn't grown very fast here for some reason.
We have the guy next door to the church mow the church yard and field, how often he has mowed has been sporadic. The part of the hay field that we let the cows eat on early in the year has been super slow growing back. And the guy that cuts our hay said unless it was a field that had been fertilized, hay fields he had cut weren't growing back very fast.
Now, if it's in a place that you don't want it to grow, by jove, it'll grow like wildfire. Down around my strawberry patch and stuff, it's a total jungle.

Strangely enough, Isaac, one of the best weedwackers I ever had was a cheap Murray, even though I know they are junk. Unfortunantly, this one is not of the same inclination. I wish I could find a good small engine mechanic to rebuilt the carb on my four stroke Troybuilt. I loved that thing.
And Cheese, here, we've had enough rain that the farmers have already got several cuttings off of their fields. It's been kinda like a 6 month spring...we've only recently had days in the upper 90's, low 100's, which is usually normal fare all summer. And it is raining here again, now. Bah. So much for working on the Stude's bodywork. I'm going to have to do it outside because I have no shop room....
If it was a good Murray they probably have a factory recall on that model. A mistake was made in the manufacture. :P

I drive this tractor like Mr. Magoo. Needs practice. It's the same basic thing as any tractor, yet different from the old antique ones I'm used to.
It's a shame I can't drive it around without getting dirt on it.

I think I'll save them for tomorrow, as I have to work with a certain annoying twit- if I can cause him discomfort in any way, it'll bring me joy. Yes, I know, not Christian, but he is REALLY a pain...

Been cleaning the garage out so I can park the tractor....got most miscellaneous that was piled on top of my lumber pile at scooted out of the way at least....gotta move my lumber (somebody send the Amish to just go build my building, please?) and get that bay of the garage cleared.
My aunt and cousin's wife brought granny over to see mom today. Since her last fall she fractured something in her back and hasn't been getting out to church the last little bit. And hadn't seen mom since they came over here a couple months ago....cause mom doesn't get to get out anywhere either, cause she's here with dad all the time.

Got the garage bay cleaned out, my lumber restacked into the brooder house.... All this completed, and a minute before I was going to put the tractor in the garage, it came a 5 minute downpour.... Ugh.
Came home from young adult retreat with food poisoning. Along with about 6 friends who all got it too.

I'm sick with a head cold. Started Sunday morning, all stuffy, then I coughed all night, and woke this morning (Monday) with a massive headache, stuffed up nose, that also acts as a faucet...(explain that) and my voice is all squeeky like a mouse. It's lovely.
Meanwhile, a guy called me from Winn Dixie in MS today, wanting to schedule an interview for the transfer I put in for, and I am sure I made a great impression with how I sounded on the phone. :roll:
For my mega share...I'm moving back to MS. NOT living with my parents, let's get that straight so there is no future confusion...but I will stay with a friend till I can get working enough to support myself. God has moved several mountains for me in just a couple of weeks. Seriously. Longer and more detailed testimony to come after it's all said an done. Too much to tell right now, and not all work out completely yet, so I'll save it for later. :D

Apparently, I have revealed my ignorance in things of fashion today. A coworker brought a "Louis Vittion" handbag that belonged to her stepmother, who had passed. She was trying to sell it at half price....I knew the name, but thought it was a hundred dollar purse, which is pricy in my book. Thinking of Lou's anniversary Friday, I briefly considered buying it for her- until the coworker told me it was a $1300 handbag, and she wanted $800 for it. $1300?!?! :o :o
I told her I could buy a Kimber .45, take the bag from her, and bond out for the theft charge cheaper. :laughhard:

Started out fairly lateish this morning to do a junkyard and poop run....
It was raining off and on....raining again more by the time I got to town, so I went by the Farm Bureau Insurance office, to kill time while it was raining, rather than just calling to see about it, to see if I could add the tractor to dad's homeowner's policy, cause it has to be insured for the financing. So it took a while to wait for the agent, but it was raining all the time, so no biggie... My cousin had been in there paying for something when I went in.
Anyhow...did that, and then it quit raining about the time I got out of there.
Went to the junkyard and got $91.54....55 really cause he just gave me a nickel, not pennies.... :freaky2: for the load of junk.
Then started the poop route. And stopped at Rural King for some stuff and spent all my money...picked up a few things that I need later on, but got them now cause everything in the store is on a 12% rebate, so save a lil dab....
Went to finish poop..and when I got across town...both my boots were split in the bottom around the tread and leaking..... After I had just been to RK where I usually get boots...bah.
Anyways, finished poop, then took it to the dump, then went back to RK and got boots, cause I wear boots all the time when I'm outside here at home, so I needed some. Bah.
Came home. Watered my thirsting starving ducklings and such and let the cows out along the driveway/road to pick.
And I'm eating.

In local news, the situation with the command staff at work seems to have stabilized. All the managers are still stressed but they've stopped threatening to walk out, at least for now.

Made it through the day, which was my Wednesday. Lou told me to stop and get some things at Walmart, which I hate, especially in uniform, because everyone wants to talk to me, ask me questions, ect. Of course this was no different- I got cornered by an old friend I love, but genuinly hate to see coming. The man could talk the horns off of a billy goat, and it is impossible to politely get away. Wound up spending nearly an hour trying to escape him, which was not helped by 45 other people, some of whom I didn't recognize, wanting to stop and talk to me. You'd have thought I was Brad Pitt, instead of a fat balding hometown cop, who is in that store weekly.
I finally escaped,came home and ate hamburgers that Lou made, then mowed the yard.
Found out that the money grubbing scheme now that calls itself the county fair is in town this week. That's sure to cost me a $20 or better I didn't plan on spending.

Bobby: My pastor is the same, not because he wears a uniform but because everyone in town knows and likes him. There is no way to "run by the store real quick for something." Brought the bush hog to the house to see about it...I think it's not so bad off, hopefully...trying to grease it up and such. I hate mechanic work. I like mechanical things that work, but I am not a good mechanic and I don't like working on stuff.
Lord. Another day down. Church night- looking forward to see if a good friend follows through with his promise to be there tonight. He told me numerous times this past week, unsolicited, that he was planning on coming. I didn't ask him today, not wanting to be a bother and drive him away....but if he does come, I'm looking forward to God changing him dramatically. He's one of my closest friends, and has been going through alot of family and financial issues lately, causing him to seek out a change. Between my pastor and I both talking to him, he seems to think the answers are found in our church. I don't think- I know they are, and I can't wait to see him find them.

I can, with reasonable certainty, tell you it was not conviction over gluttony. You see, I confined myself to

However- last night, Bro Papa called me, saying that he and Sis Papa wanted to take myself and Lou out for our anniversary. As Chey was going to the county fair with her Grandma, this was a perfect time. Once in the car, he directed me to a resturant in Vilonia that I'd never been before. I knew it was going to be good when I opened the door and came face to grill with a 1928 Model A Roadster, then a Dale Earnhardt racecar. It only got better.
A HUGE building, with buffet lines everywhere. My weakness, fried shrimp, were piled high. Notice I said "were". I actually apologized to the guy filling the bar for the damage I was about to afflict upon his profit margin. Ribs, frog legs, crab, clam strips, mudbugs, shrimp in every style, chicken- you name it, it was there in quantity- and quality.
Pastor and I discussed gluttony before attacking. He said his view of it was that the REAL sin came when you said " Lord, I ain't gonna do that again", lying to the Lord. I never said that- in fact, I mentioned that I'd do it again everytime I'm given the opportunity. :fork:

I read an article today on painting an old car with a foam roller and Rustoleum. No way I thought it'd work, but since I had everything I needed and the Stude, which is never gonna be a show car anyway- I tried it. Got the front fender and roof painted. Surprised the heck outta me to find that when it dried, it looked like it'd been sprayed on. I should be able to spend a few weeks and $40 or so and have the Stude looking somewhat better, anyway.
It was a 2008 Sandra. Had it almost 3 years. But I'm rough on cars. It also had some issues, and was on the verge of having more.
I got a 2011 Kia Optima. Metallic grey. It's not ready until Monday though. Boo.
You could give me the old car...I desperately need one.

Came home and put chicken in the oven, then mowed the yard.
I worked on the stupid weedeater and managed to get a blister - again-from starting it repeatedly. Then did nothing else.
Bleh. This whole day needs a do-over.
At work the new guy, who was supposed to take over maintenance man duties, quit on his first maintenance day. And it was a really busy day. And we had a very large order to deliver for some odd reason. And everyone was tired by the end of it.
Then I come home, start mowing Grandma's yard with the older, slower green mower, because the red mower is down. Get half the front yard finished, and the green mower starts screeching like a belt is off-track. I turned off the blades and the motor promptly quit. So now both mowers are down.
So it does my heart good, Bro. Bobby, to hear about your weed-eater, because at least I'm not the only one.

Came home and it rained a good bit. I was still feeling the effects of this week's battle with the flu-like symptoms, so I simply laid around. Tomorrow I will get some things I need, then start back on the Stude. Some reason, I'm really having to push myself this past week to get anything done. Seems like it takes all I can do just to go to work. In a couple of weeks, there will be a brief moment of refreshening, though. Fall car show, so I'll take an extra day off....

Had that blown out while she was movin' down the road to work at 5 am, there's a good chance it would've flipped the car, hurting her and Chey or worse. Instead, God let the air just leak out gradually, and Lou was able to pull off the road safely with no damage or harm.
Did poop cards today. Helped with a messed up revision at the devil's den, aka Wal-Mart. Wow, that place is as awful as ever....so glad I don't do that store anymore. Absolutely horrid management. Awful, awful, awful human beings...I guess that's what they're supposed to be anyways. They sure do resemble the hinder parts of a horse though. :smirk2:

Went to an actual church service today for the first time in about 5-6 months. I've been to birthdays, wedding showers, etc but not back to an actual service. It was nice to be back in the midst of homefolk.
Walked on the treadmill for about an hour and read history homework. Now to wind down and watch some Netflix. [Especially because the extremely loud girls across the hall just got back from where ever they go. It's hard to concentrate on homework when they are always yelling and screaming.]

After lunch, the crowd of obnoxious wheeled morons left the Capitol, and I thought all was finally well....then at around 2, I am hiding in my favorite wifi spot on the campus when a car pulls up, and the driver insults me. Being the kind person that I am, I escorted the galoot and family to one of OUR police parking spots, and get out to spend a couple minutes talking to them. It was great to see them. Chellebelle is as lovely and kind as ever, as is Brionna, and Brennan is as good a kid as ever... Galoot, is, well, galoot.
However, they apparently brought trouble...
At approximately 2:41, (I get off at 2:45) I was heading for a parking spot when dispatch called me and told me to go to a building nearby that we have offices in. I stopped by the parking spot long enough to tell Galoot, et al, "Adios", then headed over...to find all 300 ish wheelchair bound idiots blocking doors, halls,and yelling. "I'd rather go to jail than die in a nursing home".
Apparently, they go all over the country and stage protests, because they feel society is forcing them into nursing homes. We wound up having probably 30 officers, from all over Little Rock, and 3 buses that we soon filled up with wheelchair bound arrestees. As a result, it was 5 pm before I got off work and fought traffic coming home... If I see someone riding a motorized wheelchair for the next few days, I'm liable to ram it out of frustration..

Well. It is raining. Little Rock Police got annoyed with the "protestors" and wound up arresting them before they got within a mile of the Capitol. Made my life better. As soon as that's done, I'll be home free until Saturday, when I work for a coworker. In turn for all of this sacrifice, I get an extra day off next week. Just so happens the fall Petit Jean Swap meet will be next week. What a coincidence. What a HAPPY coincidence... (Devilishly careful planning has NOTHING to do with it :hypocrite:)

Changed Rusty's sparkplugs to discover that one of the new plugs I put in back a couple years and 15k miles ago, had done something I've never seen before- the electrode had broken off , apparently a long time back. No wonder poor Rusty was sputtering. And in the ham radio world, I was pleased to "work" a station from the country of Benin. All time new one for me, and I managed to get him on three different "bands", or sets of frequencies. My inner nerd was pleased. :clap2:

For the record you are a geek. A geek is one who is really enthusiastic about, and usually knows a lot about, a certain thing - in your case shortwave radio networks. Geeks can often pass themselves off as normal because they have at least rudimentary social skills. In fact those around them usually do not know they are geeks... unless the topic around which their geekiness centers comes up and they begin to geek out.
I could go on, but then we would get into the fine differences between a geek and a nerd, and the debate histories on the topic, and the ten minute video presentation... and I would prove I am both a geek and a nerd. :-/

Long before there were computers, there were nerds. These nerds specialized in, among other things, Morse code, radio waves, and rudimentary electronics such as vaccum tubes. Over the course of time, the . gov saw a chance to regulate something, and instituted Amatuer Radio, aka, "Ham Radio". These nerds, although often not familar with a computer in its entirety, can put together antenna systems that boggle the mind, and allow contact to be made with someone on the other side of the world with spare bits of wire and milliwatts.
As someone who is licensed as a ham, I will tell you that I am undoubtedly a nerd in the original sense- the sense it was used in before being stolen by computer nerds, which is a different subspecies, in every way.
To whit:
1) I have built antennas and communicated wirelessly across the world with them
2) I have vacuum tube electronics.
3)I have taken said electronics apart and actually repaired them (I will admit to letting the magic smoke out of a couple however)
4) The only reason I have not dived into computer repair, ect. is because the only ones I have are being used to store information that I do not wish to be lost. Therefore, I do not tinler with them until I figure all hope is lost.
So- go call your geek squad, and find some other term to steal, you nerd subspecies.

And in sharing, I went to Bro Wilson's as I said earlier, and replaced the 5 gazillion bolts that Ford used to bolt the front end of their trucks together in 1951. Took us from around 9 am until nearly noon to get things aligned and bolted together and decide on some mild fabrication...we are getting closer to the big day of placing the engine in it. The engine is awesome. A 285+ horsepower 5.3 out of an '08 Tahoe, it'll make that old truck scoot and, since we are retaining the overdrive transmisson and fuel injection, it should get in the low to mid 20's for gas mileage. It'll look old and crusty- but run, drive and ride like a brand new truck. The inside will be black cherry on the metal work, with soft King Ranch style leather seats, carpeting, and sound deadening...

In sharing, I finally made it through the day, although there were several coworkers I wanted to choke.. Went to church and heard a friend preach a really good message on "Asleep at the wheel". Suffice it to say I needed it. Now I'm sitting up waiting on the bedclothes for the guest room to be dried so I can make the bed up for Uncle Ron, who comes in tomorrow. Lou's gotta work, so she's fixing to go to bed..
Oh yeah- I meant to send my condolences to Fuzzy's family, but forgot. So I'll just edit this, which I'm sure will be told by the edit fairy....

Catching back up on the board. I'm bored tonight and not feeling the best. Got new glasses today and I'm not used to them after years of not wearing glasses or contacts.
So not a Lincoln fan today. Never again shall I purchase a Ford product. Went to get it aligned today- was told by the shop when I went to pick it up, "You've got problems". All 4 balljoints are frozen. Couldn't be aligned. Cost to repair- neighborhood of $900. I'll burn the car and roast weenies over its remains first. :mad:

As a contented - not proud, but contented - owner of a '97 Ford Windstar I have no complaints. Maybe it's just the Lincolns.
In local news I got a good night's sleep last night, rose at about 6:30am... and I have nothing to do all day today. Not going to work, the yard doesn't need mowing, I'm done with the soundtrack I was tinkering with, no nothing at all to do.

Enjoyed the day with Uncle Ron, running around the swap meet....I've managed to put just over 300 miles on Ole Rusty in the past two days, and have nearly gave in to temptation to raid my bank and make off with a '61 Rambler American that is just weird enough to be me...I've managed to talk myself out of it so far, only because the Lincoln or Corvette have neither one sold. Apparently they shall be mine forever...:sadbounce:
I did spend $20 for a buffer so that I can buff the new "paintjob" on the stude. There's also another antique milk can I have my eye on, to paint matching the one I already have. The pair, with the appropriate floral arrangements, would look pretty nice sitting on either side of our front door/entry way to the porch.....
Looking forward to having Saturday and Sunday off. :clap: Worked 2 hours over tonight cause of a call off.

What a wonderful day. I slept in, went to the mountain and browsed through piles of antique car parts, spent time with Chey, and had a most enjoyable visit with Brother Galoot and family. Then Lou got off work, and we got to break bread with Galoot and enjoy good conversation. All in all, bad close to a perfect day...but tomorrow, oh Lord have mercy, I shall return to work. :sadbounce:

In local news I finished the soundtrack for Carl Cartee's "Chasing after you" and it was a first for me - the first soundtrack I've ever made that even I couldn't find anything wrong with. Usually there's a lot I can nit-pick about music stuff I did, but I can't find anything to pick at with this one. I'm still in shock.
Nope. Chicken loaf is a lunchmeat, made by Petit Jean Meats locally here. Pretty tasty.. My uncle is known to get a sandwich of it every morning he is here for the car show for breakfast. It's became a tradition, and we've neatly roped Germ right into the habit. :lol:

Went to church this morning. Came home and went over to a family reunion for a bit. Didn't really care much whether I did or not but went for Granny's sake at least. Came home and did a quick bit of fowl tending then went to town and picked the Morrises up from the bus and took them to Columbus to Bro. Goddard's. Stayed for church. Came home.
And here I am. In a nutshell.
I'm not in the nutshell, but everything else is.
They gave me a can of Jamaican cheese. American's supposedly love it. I do like cheese.... the can seems like it's puffed up with air, I hope it's not rotten inside. lol
Mel Mel texted that her dad is in the ER with fluid on his lungs, can't breathe, on a breathing tube, trying to get him stable to move him to ICU then, in a critical condition. She's on the way there presently. Pray for him and them.
Wifi at the hospital still works. Glad of that.
Dad is stable. We just got up to ICU. Still on the vent. He has a long list of things that is wrong...none which I can pronounce, much less spell...but basically he was only using the lower half of his heart or something and a-fib something and has fluids in his lungs.
It looks pretty bad but we won't know till the ICU ppl evaluate him and decide what to do.
Mom went home when I got here. She had not taken her evening meds, and then when she got home she called and said she was too tired to come back up here. So she was going to bed for awhile. :frustrated: typical behavior for her. SMH. As usual, I'm alone dealing with the situation. :smirk2:
Anyway. That's the news for now.

My tonsils are rotten and infected - again, I broke my big toe awhile back I think and it STILL hurts and I took 10 mg of melatonin last night so I could get one good sleep....and slept barely 6 hours. lol But other than that all is well. We have money in the bank and my belly is full :)

I sat through my ex-husband preaching last night and didn't leave nor throw things. This is improvement for me..... I even came away with a few nuggets of wisdom. Just don't tell him that......

Also Brandon and I have made some wedding decisions that I'm excited about. Also, tried my wedding dress on today at my parents and it still fits. So I'm good to go. :cool:
Cleaned at the apartments today.
Then went to Columbus and picked up the Morrises. Dropped them off at church. Home eating a bean bowl. Will get ready and go back to church shortly.
Then take them to Super 8 in Bedford. And I got them a gig at Bro. Jones's in Orleans tomorrow night. So was easier for me to just get them and leave them down here a couple days rather than go back and forth to Columbus a thousand times.... I'll take them back up there Saturday morning.
Insane storms here tonight. Last I heard, over 200,000 people in Dallas alone without power. That's not counting the rest of the metroplex. Like a 5-mile radius surrounding my apartment is out of power. Surprisingly I have power though. No internet, but electricity. Hallelujah. The drive home from work was treacherous. Took me almost an hour. Trees, limbs, leaves, even saw a cooler everywhere. The winds were 70-80mph. INSANE.
Got me out of a French test I sooooo haven't studied for. And for that I thank the Lord!
Had some pretty severe wind and storms here too, although I don't know the actual windspeed. Has trees down all over the area, and a lot of rain. Wind was strong enough to blow our patio table and chair across the yard, and turn over the heavy converted gas grill I had in the back yard. I was really concerned about my tower and antenna, but all looks well this morning, just a few broken tree branches to pick up...
I was also thankful that we didn't lose electricity in the storm. It blinked a couple times, but stayed on. :)
I'm sure electricity loss is just a few months around the corner for us. Bah. I hate winter.
And in sharing- it's october, it's cool outside this morning- that means it is baking time. Am experimenting with raspberry creme cheese sweet rolls, got the dough rising now. I shall see if they are edible or go in the no more experiments file.....

It was 61 when I left this morning - glorious weather. Too bad it's back in the 80's now.
Had a fun morning at the King's farm this morning. They allowed me on the farm to take pictures and ask questions for a presentation I have to give at school. It's for my Environmental Anthropology class. Most people are doing sad stories about soil and water pollution. I decided to do a more cheerful story and who would pass up a chance to hang with the Kings? Sis Barbara is the sweetest woman on the planet.
Now to do homework and head to youth service this evening.
And it's 8 days til vacation!!!!

Well, they were messy to put together. I made the filling out of raspberry perserves and cream cheese, softened with just a bit of sugar...but I went and added a little milk, which made the filling too thin. Even so, after getting them rolled and baked, they were delicious. I wouldn't imagine them in a magazine appearance wise, but taste was perfect........If I leave the milk out next time, I expect they would be perfect. Also, instead of mixing the preserves and softened cream cheese, I think I'll apply the preserves directly, then just cut up the cream cheese in blocks and spread it on the dough before rolling. I expect that would do nicely. I was flying completely off of my own little brain which is dangerous. :laughhard:
