Zack and Cody are quite funny.

Don't know about Hannah Montana though.

Nelle

I didn't even read the last few posts.

Let's keep in mind that Miley Cyrus is unequal to Britney Spears. :) She's not the same person, don't doom her to the fate of some other person's choices - just because they are both female, singers, and started young. :) I think it's unfair to even begin to place people in the same ranks as another, I don't care HOW famous they get. She's young, let her be her. :)

I've watched Hannah Montana, also. It's a cute pre-teen show. Apparently also.. for people like me and like Nate.. HAHA!

I think Miley should have a better grip on how to deal with fame, seeing how (as Nate pointed out) her father was a very popular singer. And he is her father on the show as well, so she absolutely keeps it with family, haha.

World Traveler doesn't believe in home schooling. Awaits bashing from Sippin Tea.

Word Traveler needs to be admitted to Seth's NH. :P

i homeshcooled both my sons, we all loved it..........

i posted both those articles because it bothers me that we as americans are loosing so many of our freedoms and choices. we claim to be a land of the free, the constitution promises us that, but current government puts its nose in places it dont belong.

if you dont believe in homeschool that is your choice, but we have that right to choose to do it if we feel its best.

homeschooling was something done for a long time until public schools were created.

it just troubles me that the government is picking and choosing what they feel you can teach your children.

the rate it is going alot of apostolics will loose their children or will be forbid to teach their beliefs to their children.

what happened to freedom of religion? i dont see them going after pagans, wiccans or satanist for teaching their children their beliefs!

Excellent, excellent post!!  :great:

IMO education is what happens after you get out of school anyway.

Prezactly. School is supposed to teach you HOW to learn. Not spoon feed you like some people seem to think.  ;)

True...

I don't mind homeschooling except when (as in the case we've had a few here at the church school) their educations have a few gaps.

I love the church school here.   Our kids are two years AHEAD of public school AND they get to pray, etc whenever.

I will say that it's been fab, our kids don't have the whole greenhouse thing going that a lot of the kids do that have the church school going for them.

I like Zack and Cody as well...I've seen almost every episode of their show as well.

And Nelle, I'm glad to see I'm not the only adult Hannah Montana fan...lol.... :thumbsup2:

I don't think Miley Cyrus is in any more danger of developing a split personality than any other actor who plays a character on screen.  She's Hannah Montana only on the show and at events (concerts, etc.).  Hannah Montanah/Miley Stewart is only a persona...she doesn't really have a secret identity or isn't secretly leading a double life, anymore than the guy who dresses up like Mickey Mouse at Disneyland does.

As for whether she'll go the same direction as Britney Spears...time will tell, but I think Miley Cyrus has a few things in her favor.  First, Britney Spears rocketed to fame because of her song "Hit Me One More Time."  Right from the start of her career in music, she dressed in provocative clothing, sang provocative lyrics, and just generally reveled in sexuality.  Miley Cyrus has done none of that.  Her lyrics are clean (and although shallow) they are positive and sensual-free.  She doesn't dress any more immodestly than an average teenager (nothing like Britney's "schoolgirl" get up and her lingerie).  Second, Miley Cyrus is from a family that is well grounded, and has handled the pressures of being a celebrity.  She travels with her mom, who is a positive influence in her life, and focuses a lot on family and friends.

Very true, Bishop.  I agree with you.  I have an 8 year old daughter, so I am certainly no stranger to the Hannah Montana craze.  And like you (and Nelle), I actually like her show and have seen most of the episodes (many of which are quite funny and entertaining).

I also think she has a lot more things in her favor than Britney Spears ever did (or Britney's poor, and likewise troubled little sister, Jamie Lynn, for that matter).  But even with all that, nothing is guaranteed in this life except death and taxes. ....... and the word of God, of course.  *cough*

As for the original point of this thread, socialism and persecution of Christianity are perpetually joined at the hip:  as socialism increases in the U.S. (which it seemingly does on a daily basis), persecution of Christianity increases with it proportionately.

Score another one!  We need to start a GP Hannah Montana Fan Club...lol...

Just kidding.   ;)  When I confessed to some of my friends that I am a closet Hannah Montana watcher they about died laughing and then mercilessly hammered on me for days...lol...

I think one of the great things about the show is Haley Joel Osment's sister, and Jason Earles, the kid who plays Jackson.  He's actually done impersonations in a couple of episodes...one of Marlon Brando in the Godfather, and one of Gollum in Lord of the Rings...and they were actually not too shabby...lol...

Well, the only teenage disney show I have found myself occassionally watching while channel surfing is something called "Icarlie". I think it is the fact the lead character looks so much like a pair of twins I went to college with.

Chinadoll, will you please elaborate on the comment, "But Idaho Pentecostal culture isn't Pentecostal culture".

oh no, tolerance and diversity is only accepted if it's mainstream, and if you aren't into what's mainstream, YOU are labeled as intolerant.
