ASHINGTON — Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden is dead and the U.S. has his body, says a person familiar with developments.
President Barack Obama was to make the announcement shortly that after searching in vain for bin Laden since he disappeared in Afghanistan in late 2001, the Saudi-born extremist is dead, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Details of the death were sparse. He was killed in a military operation in Afghanistan, according to sources, though it was unclear which countries were involved. CNN reported that the al-Qaida leader was killed in a mansion outside Islamabad, the Pakistani capital.
It is a major accomplishment for Obama and his national security team, having fulfilled the goal once voiced by Obama's predecessor, George W. Bush, to bring to justice the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
Barry is on right now taking credit!
oooh... he must have outlived his usefulness. Funny thing, but foreign govts have known for years. Even admitted it. Somehow the U.S. press just didn't get the memo. Back in 03 or 02 I saw a video from a foreign news program where Premier Gandhi categorically stated he was dead. Killed in Toro Boro or whatever the place is called. We've justified over $1 Trillion Dollars "looking" and "fighting" a dead man.
Guess now we need a new "Terrorist Leader" boogeyman to con - er, scare - the American people.
nothing like a royal wedding and the death of an evil leader to distract people.
I have had to wonder, how many people that are not the brightest lights in the chandelier, gasped in horror upon hearing that Osama was dead and exclaimed in shock, "The president is dead!?!?!"
:smirk2:
:P
Seth, They said When people were tweeting that osama was dead, on their phones, their phones were auto correcting Osama to Obama
