Darkness will take you farther than you wish
Suddenly the beauty of it fades
And you're left alone
Darkness never pays
Darkness pays for nothing
It simply requires you to pay the debt
It owes
To light.
A gentle hand to guide you
Safety assured
And then, nothing
All the seduction,
The promises,
The trust
Gone, shattered.
And you are forced to remember
Darkness doesn't come through
For all it takes is a ray of light
To cause darkness to disperse.

When I wish it was over
No decisions to make
No God to be accountable to
When I let everything else take over
To make me miserable and doubtful
It is then I remember
The eyes of real Christians
I remember the time I looked in someone's eyes
And tehre, trembled,
Suddenly recognizing Jesus
I can remember
That God brings a spark
God brings a passionate Love
Humanity does not know
I just remember
That I love the God I know
more than anything.

Sarah, that was incredible. Thanks for sharing it with us. :)

My Soul Was a Bruise Only Jesus Could Touch
      For Aaron

      My soul was a bruise only Jesus could touch;
      And He did.
      So battered and scarred
      From wandering in the darkness,
So tender from all the injury,
      So raw from the abuse.
Oh God, only You could touch it.
Only in Your gentle fierceness could I be cleansed.
      This disoriented, orphaned soul,
      This sorrowful, downcast soul
Crawling out of my place of shadowy solitude,
      Gasping for air,
      Hardly breathing.
      Only one Hope;
      That Hope is You.
      A burning soul
      Soothed by cool waters,
      An abandoned child
      Wrapped in endless love
      A bruised soul
      Touched for the first time,
      A child of God
      Made righteous,
      A burdened man
No longer crushed under my murderous load.
      No one dared to touch,
      No one dared to find,
      But You dared. You dared.
      A Creator's hands
      Picked my soul up.
      A Potter's hands
      Didn't throw my soul away.
      A Carpenter's hands
      Expertly handled me.
      A Messiah's hands
      Covered with cleansing blood.
      You remember, my soul
Was a bruise only Jesus could touch.
      To touch it, He dared;
      To heal it, He did;
      To hold me, He does.

      Show Works

      Repent and show works
      Meet for repentance.
      Repent and live.
Repent and live like you've repented,
Standing before the fiery Ancient of Days
With clean hands and a pureness of soul.
Stand before Him with life and not words.
Lay your chains at His feet,
Lay your burdens at His throne,
      Lay yourself at His altar-
         And watch the fire fall.

      We Need You Down Here

Jesus, we need You down here.
      We need You down here.
Even though I know You are here,
What would we do without You here?
So, I see- we need You down here.
There was a woman in a smashed car
      Slumped over her wheel
At the side of the road-
      We really need You.
There's a man who snapped one day
And now his gaze is stone
      And his conversation, childlike.
      Oh, how we need You.
There's an old man with Alzheimer's
Whose friend takes him out and
      Guides him along.
Oh, Jesus, we really need You.
Please, don't pull away from us-
      Keep Yourself near.
'Cause, God, this life is so frail
And we really need You down here.

Cumbered

When Martha sits across from Mary
         And the music is playing
         Where are the differences?
         When we worship our King
         Where are the discrepancies?
         But oh, oh they shine
         Their dingy light, somehow.
         Martha hates her,
         But loves her the same.
         Some jealousy,
         Or maybe disgust.
         Nevertheless,
         A great wall is established-
         A witness to them both
That they are still sitting across from
            Each the other.
Has ever a sadder song been sung
         Than a song sung together
         By Martha being Martha
         And Mary being Mary
         Across from each other?
            Divided.
         Will this Martha ever be
            An embracer of Mary
         Until her heart is Martha's
         And Martha's is Mary's?
         Will unity ever be
Or will I ever be cumbered?
