I don't put on my harness everyday
Cuirass, lames, cops or grieves
My helm stays in my car
Shiny and bright

But noone sees me
Behind the armour
I wear daily.

Each spot where I was bruised
Or sliced or stabbed
I protect with a built up shell
More like the turtles I study
Then the brave knight I aspire to be

First over my heart,
A piece so polished
It will reflect ther person looking into it
So tender is the heart within
That I dare not show it to the world.

Then over my mind
This piece remains unpolished
Just staying there to protect and shelter

Finally over my personality
The most invisible fortress of all
Like the stoutest steel
Painted the darkest shade
To blend with those around me

Sometimes I wonder
If I unlock the armour and stand
Unprotected, naked, exposed
Would the arrows come again?
Or could I rest and simply be me

This armour is getting to heavy to carry
Every day of my life.

Do I ever relate to that one! But it's ever so much more poetic than my attempts at expressing the same thoughts.
