I was lost and alone in a cold dark world
No peace of mind or freedom could I see
But little did I know I had a friend somewhere
Someone I didn't know saw some good in me

Somebody prayed for me
They had me on their mind
They sacrificed their time
They got down on their knees and prayed for me
They had no doubt
That God could bring me out
That He would change my life and set me free
I'm so glad that someone prayed for me

The Tongue is a Fire

You can kill your enemy with bullets
yet it strikes me as absurd
that to lay low your foe you need a weapon
but you slay your friend with just a word

be careful what you say when you are angry
your tongue can cause such pain
and 'sorry' can't undo the damage
once spoken it can't return again

the tongue is a fire - tongue is a flame
tongue is a curse - tongue is a game
tongue is a knife - leaves you to bleed
tongue is a fire - tongue is your deeds
watch when it burns

have you beard the whispers going round the town
"oh she didn't? yes , she did, oh my"
you don't have to help that rumor get around

"I don't believe a word of it - but I must tell so and so
just what I thought , wait till you hear what I heard..."
watch what you say, the flames could burn you down

the tongue is a fire - tongue is a flame
tongue is a curse - tongue is a game
tongue is a knife - leaves your to bleed
tongue is a fire - tongue is you deeds
watch where it burns
"Do you sing at church?"
"Yes I sing at church, I sing at home, at work, in the car, at the supermarket, at Wal-Mart..."

He shares a room outside with a dozen other guys
And the only roof he knows is that sometimes starry sky
A tattered sleeping bag on a concrete slab is his bed
And it's too cold to talk tonight
So I just sit with him instead
and think

How did I find myself in a better place
I can't look down on the frown on the other guy's face
'Cause when I stoop down low, look him square in the eye
I get a funny feeling, I just might be dealing
With the face of Christ

After sixteen years in a cold, gray prison yard
Somehow his heart is soft, but keeping simple faith is hard
He lays his Bible open on the table next to me
And as I hear his humble prayer
I feel his longing to be free
someday

How did I find myself in a better place
I can't look down on the frown on the other guy's face
'Cause when I stoop down low, look him square in the eye
I get a funny feeling, I just might be dealing
With the face of Christ

See you had no choice which day you would be born
Or the color of your skin, or what planet you'd be on
Would your mind be strong, would your eyes be blue or brown
Whether daddy would be rich, or if momma stuck around at all

So if you find yourself in a better place
You can't look down on the frown on the other guy's face
You gotta stoop down low, look him square in the eye
And get a funny feeling, 'cause you might be dealing ...

                                                               Face of Christ

I look the part
Fit in with the rest of the church crowd
I know the routine
I can list all the bible studies in town
Watch christian TV
I know all the preachers and their cliches
Been born again
Without a doubt I know I'm saved

But sometimes I hurt
And sometimes I cry
Sometimes I can't get it right
No matter how hard I seem to try
Sometimes I fall down
Stumble over my own disguise
I try to look strong as the whole world looks on
But sometimes alone I cry

I try to speak faith
Never giving the devil one inch to get in
I do worship and praise
I let everybody know just where I stand
On the back of my chevy
Is a fish and a cross for the world to see
I know God is good all of the time
Yes there's no doubt for me

But sometimes I hurt
And sometimes I cry
Sometimes I can't get it right
No matter how hard I seem to try
Sometimes I fall down
Stumble over my own disguise
I try to look strong as the whole world looks on
But sometimes alone I cry

When you help a neighbor they don't put it in the paper
When you share no one writes it on the wall
Though no one may see
When you save that friend in need
The whole world's gonna know it after all

Cause love shines
Even through the deepest darkness
A ray of light comes shining through
Love shines
And like bread cast upon the water
Love will come back to shine on you

When you feed the hungry they don't put you on the TV
When you save a soul it's never in the news
Though no one's around when you pick up one who's down
Someone sees everything you do

Cause love shines
Even through the deepest darkness
A ray of light comes shining through
Love shines
And like bread cast upon the water
Love will come back to shine on you

A mother and her children / parked outside a downtown bar
the boy goes in to find daddy / and beg him please come to the car
on the way down the road they can count on / another fuss, another fight
and tomorrow dad will be sorry again / for the things he did last night

many times dad's turned over a new leaf / the counseling and programs have failed
mama is praying for an answer / her family could sure use some help
but one day there came a knocking / it was a man from the local church
he's got a plan to show daddy / one that he says is sure to work

I've seen it in action, I've seen it work
It's called the bible, it's called new birth
It does away with the old man, makes him anew
That's how I know that this bible is true
"Do you sing at church?"
"Yes I sing at church, I sing at home, at work, in the car, at the supermarket, at Wal-Mart..."

Hope Now by Addison Road

If everything comes down to love
Then just what am I afraid of
When I call out Your name
Something inside awakes in my soul
How quickly I forget I'm Yours

(PRE-CHORUS)
I'm not my own
I've been carried by You
All my life

(CHORUS)
Everything rides on hope now
Everything rides on faith somehow
When the world has broken me down
Your love sets me free

When my life is like a storm
Rising waters all I want is the shore
You say I'll be ok and
Make it through the rain
You are my shelter from the storm

(CHORUS)
Everything rides on hope now
Everything rides on faith somehow
When the world has broken me down
Your love sets me free

I am not my own
I've been carried by you my whole life

(CHORUS)
Everything rides on hope now
Everything rides on faith somehow
When the world has broken me down
Your love sets me free
(Repeat 2x)

(CHORUS 2)
You've become my heart's desire
I will sing Your praises higher
Cause Your love sets me free
Your love sets me free
Your love sets me free

Troublesome times are here,
filling men's hearts with fear,
the freedom we all hold dear,
now is at stake...

The Purple Fuzzy

The Rose

Some say love, it is a river
That drowns the tender reed
Some say love, it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed
Some say love, it is a hunger
An endless aching need
I say love, it is a flower
And you, its only seed

It's the heart, afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance
It's the dream, afraid of waking
That never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken
Who cannot seem to give
And the soul, afraid of dying
That never learns to live

When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long
And you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed
That with the sun's love, in the spring
Becomes the rose

Best sung by a former Baptist sunday school teacher by the name of Harold Jenkins- better known as the incomparable Conway Twitty.
Potstirrer and snoop extraordinaire   "I have friends in overalls whose friendship I would not swap for the favor of the kings of the world."- Thomas Edison

The Purple Fuzzy

There was one country guy "singing" it on Youtube that was talking the song.  I hate it when they do that.  It makes me want to say shut up talking and sing.  I only listened to a few words and turned it off.

Jimmy Swaggart does that all the time. I can't stand it and my hubby likes to listen to him.

How can you ask for truth when you do not truly live
How can you ask forgiveness when you don't forgive
I don't mean to bring you down or speak to you unkind
But you can't be a beacon if your light don't shine

You can't be a beacon if your light don't shiiiiiiiiiine
You can't be a beacon if your light don't shiiiiiiiiiine
There's a little light in all of us by God's design
You can't be a beacon if your light don't shiiiiiiiiiine

I like the new songs that I hear about the Lord
I think they're really something grand
I like the music that they're playing while they sing
We've come up with mighty fancy bands

But I also like the old songs that my mother used to sing
She didn't have a band at all
But when she sang the old songs with the Spirit that she had
You could almost see the devil climb the wall!
"Do you sing at church?"
"Yes I sing at church, I sing at home, at work, in the car, at the supermarket, at Wal-Mart..."

Courtesy of my husband (who apparently REALLY likes this song)  :-)

:sing:

I know the Master of the wind
I know the Maker of the rain
He can calm the storm
And make the sun shine (or rise, if you're Taco and singing it the way you like it)
again
I know the Master of the wind

I love my husband and his song choices.

And I REALLY like it when he's in the mood to sing.  :happyhappyjoyjoy:
