some words fell from my hands today.  thought some of you other winter-lovers might like them.

winter has left me
snowless,
but not before
the silent flakes
had decorated my spirit
and imprinted their beauty
upon my smile.

...I tried so hard, I cant rise above it.. :sing:

Oh wait... :pwink:

I really like it Kris, but I cant relate to it. Seeing how I have not seen the snow.
Have you slapped that one dude from Indiana with a pie in the face today?

newkris

i thought you'd like that, ruby, since you love winter and snow and must mourn the melting like i do.

mel, you just gotta come and visit next winter.  don't come now to see snow 'cuz it's all disgusting looking now.

and for you ms. sunlight, the words only fall when the feelings push them out.  of course . . .  there's more than one season changing in my world and that always makes the words pile up.

here's another bit from a bigger piece written earlier this winter that you might like:

I'm afraid for how long this will last,
but winter just seems to be piling up
higher and higher around me.

It's the most amazing thing.

It just keeps snowing.

Layers and layers of billowy glitter sparkling against the midnight sky.
Lighting even the darkest dark with an ethereal neon shine.

What a different world.  What different season.

I know it won't last.
None of it will.
It will have to be shared and given away eventually.

But today?
I'll enjoy the sparkle and
the laughter and
the music and
the superfluity.

Today will stand alone
for tomorrow
it may be I standing alone again.

Silly as it probably sounds to people who don't like snow... I DO mourn the melting. It makes me sad and melancholy when the snow starts disappearing.

I love winter.
I love the nippy wind.
I love the lazy snowflakes.
I love when they come fast and furious.
I love midnight strolls among the diamonds.
I love the crunch when I'm walking somewhere... anywhere.
I love the icicles on buildings and fences and anywhere else they can grip.
I love the pricks of cold wetness on my face when I look straight up at the white coming down.
I love the intricacies I see in what God created when a snowflake lands on my sleeve.
I love wearing scarfs, and fuzzy socks, and cozy sweaters.
I love the laughter from snow forts, the hollers when snowballs meet their targets.
I love the giddy delight of children on sleds.
I love the smiley snowmen.
I love snuggling by a fire.
I love the hush during a snowfall, as if God was sending a more tangible reminder of His peace and serenity.
I love the swirling patterns in the streets.
I love the boot prints on the sidewalks.
I love the drifts in between buildings.
I love seeing rosy cheeks, and smiles.
I love seeing the sparkle of the snow reflected in eyes above it.

i know what you mean about all of it, but especially the hush.  i love that.  like everything is just more than quiet, it's hushed and peaceful.  all the rush is muffled and the world is still.  i love that.

and mel?  i want to meet you someday, too.  i think a GP meet-up in MN would be perfect.  :pwink:
