Stargazing

When gazing
at a never-ending sky
that makes us feel
like the world's gonna tilt
and we'll fall off if we
don't find something to hold on to...
we'll hold our gaze on fixed pinpoints of stars

And let them remind us of our
smallness
in this Great,
Big, World.


When tramping
down
the uphill path
and the dust
from our trail
hides the frustrated Sun

We'll be
patient,
and wait
for evening stars.


When we're too
unbelieving and
weak
to sing down the dawn,
and the
suffocating dusk
keeps light away

We'll trace
the stars with
our fingertips
until we see again.


When running to catch
fireflies
- manufactured
rainy-evening starlight-
our jar of stars
will wink and glitter
with luminescent memories

And when the rain
clears,
we can watch
the stars again.
