Layers of truth
Layers of space-time
Shimmering
Folding
In, and out
In, and out
Like curtains in a breeze
Or light on the surface of a lake

I observe the light
Penetrating, or reflecting
Shifting, piercing dimension
Calling me

I love this poem. It reminds me of Einstein, his theory of relativity, and his thoughts on the fabric of space and time. That's a good thing, as I love those topics. :teeth:

It is a most awe-some sunset:
from four stories up,
I can see the dense clouds that bow
as if through a fishbowl lens
over the trees, beyond my sight
both to my left, and to my right.
Sunken behind the clouds
there seethes an molten orb,
and trying to push its way out
   – this is the most amazing part –
it creates along the bank's upper edge
a fierce vein of fiery gold.
This horizontal bolt of lightning
stretches to the earth's very ends
   glowing all along its arc
like wood which, after hours in a fire
that is now dead, holds along its edges
the flames' last surge of heat.

Amazing! Exactly the kind of poem that I love to read/write. You are getting my poetry juices flowing, again. *grin* Thank you!

Oh, and congratulations. :teeth:

Amazing

            I've lied to you
                              still you trust me
     I've stolen from you
                              still you give to me
           I've injured you
                              still you hold me
     I've cheated on you
                              still you love me

      I've left you behind
                              still you wait for me
          I've abused you
                              still you serve me
       I've forgotten you
                              still you think of me
I've crushed your heart
                              still you heal me

I've shamed your name
still you call me your own
            I've hated you
                              still you forgive me
      I've torn you down
                              still you restore me
          I've mocked you
                              still you weep for me

I've been purely selfish
                              still you want me

white peeling
white paper
white living
alders
rising and falling in
forever vertical slimness
dancing
like air
like smoke
like children
in sun with
its vast light washing
all their world in
green vibrant
green phosphorescent
green translucent
like that crystal
stream of life
each is none alone
all are power together
they are here
we are here
forever is here
and we laugh
as the winds blows
through

How could I ask You to forgive me?
How could I have such nerve?
How could I ask You to bear
the responsibility for what I've done?
But You've already borne it,
  before I even decide I can't ask.
And You're already offering it,
before I have a chance to turn away.
You've changed the whole equation –
  it's equal now, because now
  You're on both sides:
  mine as well as Yours.
Before, I was tried in the balance
   and found wanting.
But now, with You on my side,
   all things are possible.

A ladybug is orbiting my light bulb.
Her years go by:
about two per second.
I have a hunch
she will burn out before her sun does.

As I look around this room,
look upon these people here with me,
all at once a layer of dimness is stripped away –
a sheet of film,
a covering of artifice –
and like Adam I see the world through newly naked eyes.

But a moment ago I was inhabiting a dream of this place;
suddenly, my eyes are opened and I am actually here.

Lost

Somewhere, I lost my hope.
The freshness, the light-heartedness I knew
were scurried away by a thousand little anxieties
I once believed could not affect me.
But they're holding me down,
  and now I'm looking up,
  trying to remember,
to glimpse through the fog what once was so clear,
to trust the surety of you, beside me.
Oh, to return, not to naivete,
  but to innocence.

Thank You, My Friend

How is it that you are my friend?

That you have come to hold
such a large place in my life?

Do you know how much I prize
the time I spend with you?

The conversations we've had?
The memories we've exchanged?
The experiences we've shared?

How can I express the joy I feel
   just in knowing you?
Or how much I cherish
   the relationship we have?

All my words are timid substitutes
for what I wish I could say,
   but cannot be said.
