The one in the bathroom is beige and white.  The one on the back porch is blue and white.

Currently the bathroom I am sharing doesn't have one in it. We've only been here a week and a half and it has not appeared yet. I'm sure it will soon, and judging by the bathroom decor, it will be blue or white.

I really need a plunger though...no matter what color.

Kinda. It wa the topic anyway...it started with silly stuff to share. It evolved into us sharing about our day to day lives and just general "anything goes" posts, no matter the topic or questions.

Morning, all. Back at work. And a coworker has just passed me the welcome information that his dad wants to sell his truck- a 64-66 Chevy, one owner, and solid. Needless to say, I will be going to look at it. And maybe buy it, which will enrage my lovely bride.  :P

Please pray for me. Seems my body is just under attack. I had a huge lump come up on my low back and it is apparently a pocket of infection that has ruptured internally. Elona went to get antibiotics. If the fever isn't gone and it's not better at all by tomorrow back to the doctor and possibly getting a knife put to it. I'm sick of being sick! I need GOD to move!

My toilet brush is silver and white.

Cheeto: I miss ODIE, if you talk to him. I read some of my old PMs the other day, and he had left some very encouraging messages that even still made me smile. I'm thankful for people who speak encouragement and love into our lives.

I'm supposed to be receiving an email today that could possibly have a profound effect on my finances. If I were to apply, be interviewed, and be hired - it'd be double what I make yearly now. My husband and I have been praying over our finances for all of our marriage (of course! LOL), and this is the first BIG possiblity that's come about. I'm horrible with change, so I at first was hesitant to even apply, but I was quickly reminded of every prayer I've been praying, and realized that I shouldn't say no to opportunity out of fear. We want to be where God needs us, and if I'm to be in that workplace, so be it. If not, I'll stay where I am until such a time as I am moved. :) Just want help praying. :)

Well. This day has been fun. My coworker that had promised to bring in "an old ham radio" to me did just that, and then some. He brought me TWO vintage radios. (Drake Tr-4's to be exact- Isaac, that would be roughly equal to you getting an original Tandy or Apple, I guess)
These fine old ladies of the radio world have been welcomed into my ham shack with open arms. They are 1965-66 vintage, which is ancient in radio speak. they have such a beautiful sound- I listened to a station in Perth, Australia for nearly an hour, just enjoying the sound. If I can locate a mic for them I will use them often....

The difference being you can use a vintage radio to contact the same people a modern radio can contact.  A vintage computer, collectible status aside, is best shredded for flak.

It was a sage green and white color....  Dad broke it the other day beating ladybugs with it....no joke.

For some reason he has taken to getting after ladybugs in the bathroom with the toilet brush....  It's a shame he couldn't find anything dirtier to use than that.

He broke the head in half the other day.

It's -5 degrees.  I'm over this winter malarkey.

Jenn... You get a text from me?

I finally got minutes on that little touchscreen phone. So far I like it and the service has been good. Although...I havent left the house yet and we live smack dab in the middle of town so service SHOULD be good here. Tomorrow it gets a road trip test.

My brother had to postpone our trip till tomorrow cause the truck is still in the shop. Should be ready today.

On the phone...it's functional, and I like it, but the FB app is gross. I DON'T like it. But I still have this iPod so I can still use it for FB and web. The major thing I dont like the most though, is I'm back to using T9 for texts. I can do it fast, I'm surprised my fingers remember it so well, it's been years...BUT I would rather have a keyboard. But the keyboard on there is SO SMALL and sensitive...I CANNOT use it. I tried working with it all day yesterday! I finally swapped to T9 and was able to actually text people. Sheesh!

But it is what it is. Better than not having anything at all. :)

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Apparently we are stranded in Louisiana's snowpacalypse.  They closed schools highways and medical clinics.

So we are waiting an hour till it should all be melted. :/

Good grief. The roads are FINE.  :frustrated:

:stupid: For once, I completely agree with JennJenn.
And Isaac- thanks. :P

And in sharing- I give up, I am an old man. As has been well documented here, I go through cars fairly often. Given the distance I drive, I find it more convienant and cheaper to buy a used $2500 to $3000 car every two years than a $12-15k car every five.. Thus the purchase more often than others. The Canyon has been letting me know that it doesn't intend to be primary work vehicle much longer, by having occasional starting fits, among other things..
So I talked it over and got approval from Wifeee, then from Banker man and went car shopping today. Soooo...did I buy another 'vette? NO. Too much of a headache for the ones in my price range. 2) A Miata you suppose? No, got enough grief about the last one, plus I'm fat and it isn't designed for portly folk... 3) a manly Jeep? No- gas mileage inhales on them.
No, I bought every 70 year old's dream ride...although a few years old. A one owner 1998 Lincoln Town Car, Cartier edition. Sucker looks like brand new inside and out, gets 24-28 mpg, and is more comfortable to sit in than most living room couches. Heated seats with memory, lumbar, casette with cd changer in trunk, all the bells and whistles that could be put in a  $45K luxury car in '98.. I'm gonna have to tint the windows to keep people from seeing me...:sing: "They see me rollin', they hatin'.." :sing:
Only downside is, I've gotta wait a couple weeks to get it. They lost the title and have filed for a lost title. I can't give away $2700, that don't grow on trees here, so we decided I would leave a small refundable deposit to secure the car and ensure them it was sold. They'll call when the title arrives and I shall go give them the rest of the money and get my ride.... I can't wait. Bro Papa is rejoicing- it's taken him 25+ years to "pray me through" to the point that I bought a Ford product... :laughhard:

Big, clunky car, poor handling, drives like a tank... my only problem with cars like that is the mushy suspension. I like something a bit tighter for taking turns on the back road I live on. Aside from that, it's a great car.

For the most part, I quite agree- but my daily driving is nearly 100% straight ,boring interstate. Not alot of curviness....And that is the kinda of travel the stinkin' Lincoln excells at. Hmmm...wonder if I could put a supercharger under that hood? And how hard would it be to stick electronic cut outs on the exhaust- quiet in normal driving, then mean when occasion arose?....a Hotrod Lincoln...... :freaky2:

And Bro. Bobby, now that you are getting such a comfortable car, long trips should be more a pleasure than a chore.  Like, say, for example, trips to visit people you have been meaning to visit for some time now, but never gotten around to...   *cough cough*

Jenn, I experience marvelous LA hospitality. One family invited us for a home cooked meal. "Red beans and rice with cornbread" which I had never had that way. It was good and they were kind.

A few times I was a little taken aback. I don't want to say why on here.  But some of the "southern charm" was disingenuous.  Kind of awkward. Not with the church people just the community.  That is just humanity though, really.

However there was great amounts of loud laughter amongst so many and I enjoyed that immensely. I LOVE the tall pine trees!! Right IN town. They made us feel like it was out west.  Cacti in people's yards was funny.

There was a weird style I kept seeing at church. It may not be southern.  I think it's connected to the ruffled layered look but lots of ladies looked like they were wearing torn up rags until you got up close and then it looked like nice torn up clothes. Lol. I'm not a fashionista though.

As soon as we hit LA it seemed they don't use street signs consistently.  Driving was weird.

I adored every accent, every smile. I am amused by how everyone tries to know everyone else by who they know.   Which meant I didn't know anyone's anyone.  And who knows people from IA?  I done even know them  LOL

Coffee didn't seem to be a big deal down there. I didn't see one Starbucks, which I don't care that much for anyway, a caribou coffee or a Panera Bread. I saw no coffee shops at all.  No breakfast places either except IHOP. Gag. I brought some produce so that is what I snacked on and had apples for breakfast.  I had hotel coffee like. 3x.  But who cares?  I finally got to visit the south!!  :D

I did like Cane's sweet tea and thought it was funny that the other fast food places sold their tea.  We liked Copeland's. We weren't going to go to what we could get back home but since Popeyes said. "Cajun Kitchen" and it was nearly 11pm, we went ahead and grabbed some. :hypocrite:

Driving through that itty bitty part of the Ozarks was beautiful.

Every town is different so I'm not going to judge the south by it. It was kind of a dirty run down looking town. People had said it wasn't big but yes, it is a City. It just doesn't want to admit it. Traffic is terrible. Everyone is suppose to yield. So finding a place that has no street sign, and everyone yielding from the highway, outer road and side streets at the same time, is crazy.

Haha I thought he was calling his girl's that.   :laughhard:

What can I say about BOTT?  It was fantastic.  The worship service is the same as ours but bigger. The preaching was amazing. I met missionaries I've prayed for, met great people who of course are real. It's nearly the same as our Mantle conf. Just much bigger.  We got the direction we had been seeking. Like any opportunity like that, you get what you're desperate for.  One lady by us, was on her phone the whole time. And FB. Coulda been important but I hope she got something out of the conf.

TF Tenny looks like a wonderful g'pa I'd wish to have had. I wanted every evangelist to come to our church. Hearing them worship and pray around us with such passion.  I wish I could've taken on every missionary. I love what one preacher said, "missions is a holiness issue."  Vesta Mangun is the coolest woman I've ever met.  The parts that were directed at preachers and pastors stirred my heart for our friends in those positions.  I felt like a Jonathan.  Lol.

So much to say but I'm still processing it all.

The best way to find a good breakfast in the South is to look for a small, locally owned and operated diner where all the pickup trucks are parked.  IHOP... gag indeed. Find the little diner where all the locals eat.

And coffee is a big deal here, but the restaurants never have caught on.  The best way to find a good cup of coffee is to brew it at home.  Sorry.

About the southern charm - I bet you got a few hugs, didn't ya?

Everybody always rants and raves about conferences like that, but I think I'd probably hate it.  I always feel like I don't fit in and don't belong and the preaching is no better than I could go to any regular church service someplace and hear and I just don't enjoy it.  Last couple times I've went to men's conference here I hated it.

Cold. Snow. School. Work. More snow. Still really cold. Had to break out my 4WD today. Went to work out and it was just flurrying a bit. Came out 45 minutes later and the parking lot, road, and my car was covered. I've filled out roughly 5-6 applications the last week. Pray something comes through. The environment at the animal hospital is just horrible.

(edited: nope, Scandinavians are like Vikings)

What countries did it list under Western Europe?  Italy?

Tight curls definately run in Irish.

I love it, so very interesting the mix of stuff. My aunt had grown up seeing a picture of a tan big lady who had a ton of kids and was an Indian ancestor. Turns out she was more than likely French. Lots of Southern Europe tips over towards starting to look Mediterranean like Greek

We watched a BOTT DVD tonight at church...it was amazing...Bro Huba really thought we needed to see it because of our current church building program. I looked for my Aunt, Brother and Melodya and Nathan, but only saw one person I recognized, and that was Bro Hattabaugh....well, other than Bro Mangun of course.

I went one Spring to the regular doctor and he got me on the waiting list for a dermatologist. Guess what? My appointment was set for August, I had waited SIX months to see him b/c he was so well-liked (ended up having atopic dermatitis), and the end of July arrives - He moved to a completely different state. :( I went to another derm in another medical group because the moving-derm's practice partner was AWFUL! No one liked him!! LOL. I ended up better off with the other med group derm - super nice!!

Ordered my college transcripts so I can apply for the State of MO job. :) Hope is a blessed thing. :)

It's supposed to be raining and in the 40s and 30s all day tomrrow...we don't have one single thing to do, my cousin Kendall is off work, and so the plans are to sleep, and do nothing all day! Yay! I'm planning on making a crock pot full of my tater soup, and we will have a lazy day. I also plan to stay in my room and read mostly. Gonna be great!

Wednesday morning I go to the store and finalize my paperwork so I can get working on my job! I'll also get the car back sometime soon.

And I really really REALLLLLY want to find a spot to go fishin'.

The 40's we are supposed to get later this week, can't get here soon enough when it's 2, I said TWO degrees.  The car is just warming up by time I've driven Andrew to school and gotten home.

Anyway.  Ruby, BOTT was overall amazing still.  Wayne Huntley, Mike Williams, and Vesta Mangun were my favorite. And I really enjoyed the forum even though we are not in pastoral position.  Bunch and Breeze were a hoot!

I went outside this morning to drive to work and we had SNOW! It's about time too.

Speaking of which, I have to publically retract what I used to say about people around here being afraid of driving in snow. When I got to work everybody else was here too. Either people really need the money or people aren't as afraid of driving in snow as I thought.

It's presently 7 degrees.

Dad got upset by some misunderstanding or something yesterday, sort of, and got all depressed and refused to take his feedings the last two times yesterday, saying he'd been around here too long in our way and yadda yadda.  Ugh....  Being like that causes us far more grief than him acting like he's got some sense.  So far today he has taken his 2 feedings thus far, thank God, but his mood is still not the greatest.

This is why I am glad I have remote start. I park next to my patio, open the door, and remote start the car 15 minutes before I am to leave for work. haha

Trying to figure out the average amount of Dr. visits a person makes.

How many times have you went to the Dr. In the last 3yrs?  I ask about that time frame because sometimes one year will be out of the ordinary.

Probably twice, but I hate to go.  One was the normal ob/gyn visit that you're supposed to do every year and the other was because me knee wouldn't work.
I never claimed to be normal, though.

Last year was abnormal for me- twice to the dr's office (once courtesy of a stupid moth, but it worked out b/c I got my CPAP machine) and two visits to the sleep clinic. Before that it was, oh, probably once in the past 10 years. No kidding, the last info the doctor had on me had me working at a factory, which was around 2001...I don't like dr. visits. Most of the time, if I'm sick, I self medicate with over the counter stuff, sleep, whine, and eat it off. Basically, what I do when I'm not sick.

Last time I went to the doctor was when I was re-hired at my workplace, about 2.5 years ago or so.  The time before that was... when I was hired the first time, about 6 years before the last visit.

Basically everything Bro. Bobby said except for the part about his recent visits.

Well, the sleep specialist wants to revisit the abnormality on my MRI. He said it shouldn't be there and it's location worries him. In that location it could be causing all kinds of issues. All the original radiologist said was he didn't believe it was cancer or growing but it was there and an "unexplained abnormality". The sleep specialist is sending it off to another doctor.

Then I had to get an abscess on my back lanced the next day. Then we cooked enough spaghetti to feed an army to raise money to help finish the Bible College in Vanuautu. Aside from Saturday and Sunday I have been sick in bed. That's my sharing.

He has a feeding tube, Fairy Cakes.  Since his bout with shingles in Sept/Oct caused nerve damage that made him unable to swallow correctly.  So he normally gets a feeding every 3 hours, roughly, between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

I have not been to the doctor any since my last follow up appointment with my surgeon after my appendix was out, almost right at 2 years ago.  Up until my appendix episode which included hospitalization, surgery, etc., I probably hadn't been to the doc any in the year before it either, but I can't remember.

I got me some Obamacare now, and I think I'll probably go have a checkup since I haven't had one for a long time.  I'll wait till after flu season dies down so I don't have to go in with all the germy people though without having to.  lol

Black ice is no joke. You can drive but it's ridiculously difficult. You have to go slow and know how to turn when you start sliding. There's no point in driving in it.

God amazes me! I have no clue how but our bills are paid for another month, with today officially marking my 4th month without a pay check.

I haven't slept in almost 48 hours which is a good and bad thing. Cluster headaches hurt less but I feel like I'm losing my mind. No sleep has my blood sugar up as well.

Our first Wed. night Youth Bible study went great! Had a kid who visits from time to time really get in to it. He said he wont be missing one.

I guess that's all I got to share! :)

They had ice first, from what I read.

QuoteATLANTA - The snow and sleet had stopped falling and traffic was moving again around Atlanta following a crippling storm - but officials warned that ice-covered roads remained a threat for drivers Thursday morning.

State officials were concerned with sub-freezing overnight lows potentially leading to layers of black ice coating roads that might appear to be safe.

Atlanta traffic is at a stand still 75% of the time with the sun shining. They have one of the worst roadway systems in the US and some of the worst drivers. If you put anything extra into that mix everything is coming to a complete stand still. One reason I hate going to Atlanta!

Well.

More developments in my life story. I swear, ABC should hire us on for a soap opera.

Tuesday, my Aunt Helen called my cousin Kendall who I live with. (her Son) She told him that she had just got off the phone with my Mom and that I needed to call and check on her cause she was talking out of her head and stuff. So I called...NINE TIMES, both hers and Dads phone and neither one answered. FINALLY Dad answered Moms phone. So I asked to speak to her. Dad gave me the third degree on what I wanted to say, or ask, and I just insisted that I didnt really WANT anything, I just wanted to speak to her. He yelled at her and handed her the phone, she apparently couldnt hold it to her ear, and hung up on me. So I called back. Dad again answered. He said "I dont know what is wrong with her, she is acting stupid and cant hold the phone and keeps trying to press buttons.' So He handed the phone to her again. She held it this time and talked all kinds of crazy junk to me...Dad got back on the phone and I asked him how much pain pills she had that day, and he says he hasnt given her ANY pain pills for the past three weeks. He was mad and frustrated, but he wasnt directing his anger to me. (for once)

So I just figured Dad was lying, like he does , A LOT, and didnt worry too much about it.

Today Dad calls me yelling and screaming at ME this time, and asking me what kind of lies that I was spreading to my Aunt Linda about him...ummm what? I told him I havent talked to her since last saturday, and we discussed clothes and how to get them over here for my cousin. (Some of my Uncles clothes she was wanting to give away...suits and shirts and ties and things.) I didnt know what he was talking about.

So after I got off with him, I did call Aunt Linda, to ask her about a leather chair and ottoman that I want that is in the apartment...Mom and Dad dont want it, and I do, so I asked for it. She told me about how crazy mom has been acting, and how she almost fell off the ramp with Dads hoverround this morning. And how Granny, MY GRANNY, is packing the apartment for them. THAT MADE ME SEE RED. I was so mad about that!!! They have been told by the board to be out of the apartment THIS WEEK...no more stalling! And now my friend Granny is in there packing their stuff?! Oh NO...I was livid. But I didnt tell my Aunt how mad I was at that news.

So anyway, That was around noontime when I talked to them...I get a call from my Brother Chad about 8pm, and he said that Mom had fallen, and she had to be taken to the ER cause she couldnt get up, so dad called 911 and the ambulance came and got her. Then when she got to the ER, they took her to ICU cause she was having seizures.

Later I found out that she fell cause she let that STUPID RAT-DOG outside, and she couldnt get him to come in when she called him, so she stepped out the door and slipped on the iced over porch area. Dad cant get out that door and onto that area cause the doorway is too small and it has a step down. So He had to call the ambulance and meanwhile mom is laying there out of her head, in the cold wet weather for about 20 minutes.

OY.

Later still, I found out that dad apparently was telling the truth about taking her off the pain meds, cause when I called him he was crying and blaming himself for cutting her off cold turkey. And to make it worse, whatever good might have been done with her having the drugs out of her system, the ER and ICU are currently pumping her back full of them cause she hurt her back and tailbone with the fall. When I talked to her in the hosp. she was REALLY talking nonsense, something about a friend going to bring her some shoes cause she (the friend) knows how awful it is to be in her situation cause she babysits her grandkids all week.

What?

I asked her what friend, and she couldnt tell me a name, just that she works in the hospital. Well Mom doesnt have any friends...Not that work in the Hosp...and she really doesnt have any friends at all that work anywhere. *shrug* Just crazy random stuff that doesnt make sense.

So here I am. I am supposed to start my job Monday. I cannot leave here right now. I dont know what to do. I feel bad/guilty that I left and left everyone there to take care of all this mess with them. But honestly, I was on the verge of a breakdown myself...but what am I supposed to do now?

:frustrated:

Ummm, I have mentioned both of my Brothers in my posts a lot lately. One (Chad) went to BOTT and I posted a picture of him, and the other (John) gave me a job, a car, money, and helped me move my stuff to Tallahassee. I know Ive mentioned them quite a bit.

Yes they should have been helping me with Mom and Dad long before now. But Im the baby and it always seems Im the one stuck with the mess. Especially with Mom and Dad. But, they both have families and live in Florida. Chad has helped a little more than John, but John is stepping up and helping ME now. Chad too, but John has REALLY stepped up.

And two, Mom and Dad dont want help now. I just found out this morning that Mom fell in the the afternoon. We didnt hear about it till four hours later. Dad told Granny NOT to contact us. Call the prayer chain, but not their Children. He has told me to my face recently that he hates me and wishes I would die. So I dont really care anymore...I mean I do, but thats one main reason I left. Im not gonna stay where Im not wanted, and after everything Ive done for someone and they still hate me, Im not going to do anything any more. Plus, they wont listen to us anyway. Its better we just let them crash and burn by themselves cause thats what is happening and thats what they want, even though they gripe and complain that they dont have anyone to help them...well, quit running off the help!

The problem is, I DO care. But Im trying to remember that I need to live MY life now, and quit worrying about people who are self destructing.

No new developments as of now...thank the Lord!

And tomorrow, I get the house to myself! YAY!

Donna has to go to a wedding planning thing she is helping with, so she is dropping Jessica and Aaron off at her moms, I was gonna go too, but decided that Ive been with them almost 24-7 for over two weeks now and Im READY to have some alone time.

I love Jessica, but she whines and cries and gets on my everloving nerves sometimes!! The past few days has been really bad. And I cant help myself stating the obvious to her and making her worse. (She is 18, but mentally she is like 8. She is used to getting her way, and while she loves me, she is jealous when I talk to her mother and pitches a fit...she resents anyone elses presence in the house when she is used to being here alone with her mom during the day...its lovely at times. )

So I will be glad for the quiet. I may read, I may catch up on The Walking Dead on On Demand, or I may get in the car and explore Tallahassee. Im not sure. I do know that I need to go to the store and get some thing to throw together for dinner. Cause Im nice like that. :hypocrite:

I will be so glad to start work and make new friends and be away from the house. I need a routine more than anything.

Hahaha we tend to forget those octaves exist until little girls start shrieking and giggling together. Lol. Bet it was hilarious.

We have an inch sheet of ice on everything. Our plastic snow shovel is pretty worthless for it. So I'm going to make some hot chocolate and cookies I think. A lovely Saturday indeed. (:

Snow shovel?  Is that the big curved thing I see them using in movies where there's a lot of snow?  I've never seen one in real life.

I'm not just being facetious here... I really never have seen one.

I don't believe you. Lol

There is tons of snow paraphernalia. You have snow shovels, snow brooms, ice scrapers for your windows. There are snow bricks: these plastic rectangle boxes with a handle on top to make snow blocks for igloos. There are snow blowers both push and lawn mower attachments.  There's ice melt and salts. Snowmobiles and chains for your tires to go romping in the snow with your jeep or truck.  People keep kitty litter in their trunk I case they get stuck in snow. It helps get traction. More north you go the more men have huge snow plow attachments to their trucks to go help plow out neighborhoods.  Small tools for snow tunnels.  I remember the snow being so deep once in Des Moines when I was little that we dug tunnels through the front yard.

We have these little packs you can get at the stores that you break whatever is inside and stick it in your shoes or gloves and it will keep them warm for hours.  Thermal line jeans and skirts, long/thermal underwear of all sorts. Snow pants, actual snow boots and gloves, though snow mittens are warmer. Drying rack for shoes and coats after being out in the snow. I WISH I had heated seats in the car.  You have to get more concentrated window washer for the car that won't freeze. There's some solutions that you can use for when your doors are frozen over in the car. Smart people have generators, fireplaces, wood stoves for when the ice weighs down the power lines or branches so heavy that they brake. Little children who play out in the snow I remember they'd get Vaseline on their cheeks nose and lips so as not to get snow burn. It's so dry out the snow/wind can sting hitting your face.

But we live in Missouri and it's wonderfully mild so hardly any of those thing are here.

Ice scrapers I know of - sometimes we get frost on the windshield. Salt they put on the roads, but we never have figured out why - every time they do, we get zero precipitation.  Kitty litter is good if you got stuck in a mudhole.

All the rest of that stuff I have honestly never even seen before.

Any super stiff broom. For really dry snow, you don't need to shovel, well unless there's a ton. We just call it a snow broom.

I'm not just being facetious here... I really never have seen one.

I've got 3 different types of snow shovels

This is the type I prefer to use as it shovels better and easier for me
(http://i.walmartimages.com/i/p/00/04/43/65/00/0004436500522_180X180.jpg)

Also got one that looks more like this.  Hate this one cause it gets heavy when its full of snow and it doesn't get all the way down to the sidewalk when I shovel with it.

Also got me a car shovel which thankfully I've never had to use

Weather service says a winter storm warning in effect....outlook for the entire stupid week ahead shows nothing but Ice, cold, and snow. I am so over this winter. Stupid stuff.:pound:
And to further annoy me- I received an email that the State of Arkansas "mistakenly" rejected my tax return. I now have to print it off and snail mail it to them. Especially at their age they'd get ripped, stained, or pulled off the wall, or something worse.  :freaky2: lol I hated curtains as a teen just give me my window shade.

Morning, all. Sleet and freezing rain this morning, I'm feeling that it might get nasty during the day. Going home might be slick.

I currently do not have curtains. I have one giant window in my room with blinds that cover the entire length. I keep them open during the day because I like sunlight. [also to make sure none of my neighbors hit my car]. They get closed at night because there is a streetlight in the parking lot that shines right into my room. I like it dark at night.

I've never actually eaten snow cream. I wish I could though!

Finally had my English class tonight. A month into school and it finally wasn't canceled due to weather or illness. I really like my teacher. I really like ALL my teachers. I've been very fortunate to get great classes with great teachers my first semester back. Of course ask me about this in a week after I've had 3 exams and we'll see if I still feel the same way.

Mel-How has your job been? Any update on your mom?

snow has officially hit northern Indiana and its coming down fast and furious.  Road conditions are bad enough that I ran over a curb trying to turn a corner and then slid at another intersection trying to get home from work.  Was crazy enough to make another trip out to go to the post office in this stuff.  Local school system is already closed for tomorrow. We'll see if church gets canceled tomorrow too.

Mom was moved to a regular room on Sunday and was doing fine it seemed. I called her room and she talked and talked. She sounded better than she had sounded in years. Then yesterday I found out that she was officially diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder. All that has went on in the last few months (Dads conflict with my Uncle/Pastor, them getting kicked out, the drama with Allan, Uncle Jerry dying, and my arguing with dad that ultimately led to my moving) It sent her over the top....then dad taking her off all her pain meds cold turkey just added to it. She was supposed to have surgery on her leg and have a rod placed in it. The surgery was scheduled for this morning. So this morning I get a call from Dad saying they were just about to put her under and her heart rate dropped and almost stopped, so they rushed her back to ICU for closer monitoring. About 10:30 tonight, her heart actually did stop, and she died. But they shocked her back. She is stable now, and somehow my brother got to talk to her. He said he prayed for her over the phone and she cried and cried. But she still didnt know who he was, and what was going on.

We dont know what is going to happen. Drs dont give her much hope for recovery from this heart condition. And if she does physically recover, they dont know if she will remain out of it, or if she will snap back and start talking normal again, cause she comes and goes. Chad said that if she gets out, he is going to try to get power of attorney and mover her to Panama City into a nursing home there. With or without dad. We now have reason to believe, (because of SEVERE bruising that Drs say is inconsistent with her falling AND because of things she told me and my Aunt when she was lucid and talking normal) that dad has hit her with his cane and and slapped her, all the while saying things like "No one will believe you, youre a drug head and everyone knows it. Go ahead and call someone, they wont believe YOU over me!"

I have heard him say things like that before to her, although he had never hit any of us before recently. But I believe what she said now, cause of the way he acted on Thanksgiving when he was yelling at me and hitting me. And how else would she have bruises that dont match the fall, but match what she told my Aunt and I?

Its a mess. Im so sick of this drama! Even 300 miles away and Im still feeling stressed and guilt about it. What if....never mind. :smirk2:

I have only been to work one day. Yesterday.

I met John at WalMart cause he was going to buy my work shoes for me. So he did and I went to work at two. I went in, was taught how to clock in, and then was shown how to clean and prepare whole chickens for rotisserie. Took me two hours to prepare 8 cases of raw whole chickens...(about 15-16 chickens per case). Then I helped serve the deli hot bar, and then washed some pots in the pot sinks, and mopped the floor. I made a new friend who was training me, and all the store employees who came over in our area was super nice and friendly, and then I went home. I worked only 5 hours and I was EXAUSTED!! I got home, Donna had dinner almost ready, so I took a shower, put on my PJs, fixed my plate, ate, and went straight to bed. I was in bed asleep by 8;30pm. I woke up this morning SO SORE!! But I was off today and Im off tomorrow. I go back at 2 on Thursday and again on Saturday.

Aside from being tired and hurting, (Ill get used to it and back in the groove...) I really liked the job and the people. The job itself is not hard, its the same work im used to, and the people are nice. I think Ill like it there...if only I could get more hours so my paycheck is decent. Im making $8.25/hr.

Thats my update, Im headed to bed.

Eight cases with fifteen (minimum) chickens per case is 120 chickens... You were doing a chicken per minute.   Not  bad for your first day.

With the doctor's diagnosis about the bruises, you should be able to get power of attorney.  Get the doctor to write (and sign) a statement to that effect.

:hi: Mel, what you are describing definately sounds like abuse. Most jurisdictions will go out of their way to place an older person, or one who has mental issues, in the care of someone who will do the right thing, with power of attorney, ect.
We've went through the whole "make no sense" thing a couple of times. My Mama, when initially diagnoised with Alzhiemer's/dementia, displayed symptoms like that. Doctors said that basically, she'd had what used to be called  a nervous breakdown, due to stress, and she never came back from it. She'd had the stress of dealing with an impossible 90 year old father, and my dad's health issues, and just couldn't take it.
Had a similar issue with my late aunt a couple of years ago, to the point she was seeing flying cars and talking to her dead husband.
Sometimes, the nursing home is the best choice, no matter how distasteful it might be. Don't beat yourself up- you went far and above what many would do, and no one can say that you didn't prove that you loved them..

And morning all. We are still without power. My phone would let me get enough service to get online a couple times last night, but not much. On the bright side- the propane heater I had installed in the shop is a hoss. I brought it in last night and jury rigged a window to allow the gas line to pass through, then sealed it up with pipe insulation. On the second stage, not only did it keep the whole house comfortable, it actually raised the tempurature from 75 degrees to 78. I was impressed- it still had another two burners I could have lit. I think I'm going to move it indoors and set it up permenantly for emergencies. It's good looking and won't look bad at all...
The roads were fine. So I'm back at work.

I really need some prayer the Atypical Migraine with right side weakness has  come back with a vengeance. Most of yesterday I spent laying in bed in to much pain to moves except for the few times the medicines actually kicked in.

I promised to help with food pantry today so I'm getting ready now but with every move my head feels like I want to scream.

Now you can eat that snow cream made of snow that everybody is supposedly posting pics of on youtube trying to burn it with fire and saying it scorches, turns black, and stinks like burning plastic and not a drop of it melts from heat.

really?  Most people use condensed milk in theirs, that's the part that is probably burning.  You have to stir it quickly or the snow melts while your making the snow cream.

Mom used to use regular old milk, vanilla and sugar. (Condensed milk just has a funny taste.) Snow cream is not quite as good as Blue Bell homemade vanilla, but it's almost as good.

lol....not the snow cream, the snow.

There was a big stir about chemicals and conspiracies and it not really even being snow and who knows what.

But there was a video rebutting those showing that a snow ball absorbs the water back into itself as you apply heat to it, and the charring is deposits from the flame source.

I have very dear friends who used to be Amish. It was interesting seeing their home go through transformations. When I met them, they had electric in most rooms and running water [but only to the kitchen sink!]. It was quite fun.

I have my first test tomorrow. I feel pretty confident in knowing the material but I'm still a nervous wreck. I always am about stuff like this.

My cousin talked me into trying this exercise program called T25. It's kicking my hind parts. It's by the same people who did P90X if any of you guys know what that is.

Speaking of Amish, we watched a documentary yesterday called "Shunned."  I was surprised in the lack of actual BibLical education.  I had no idea that not much Christ really gets preached.  I couldn't do it, I would ask too good of questions and end up leaving.  Also, because of the lack of actual personal relationship with Jesus taught, people that leave have culture shock and it didn't seem like they really pursue Truth in Christ.  But that was one documentary.  Lol. There is a big Amish community near where I grew up. A lot of the teens leave and try tons of craziness and then come back. Drugs are a problem.

The book is about my friends the Kings!!! I love them. They are the family I was talking about before. They are amazing people.

I'm tired of winter, cold, snow, blah blah blah.  Good gravy.

Dad is 80 today.

Everybody's gettin' old.  :smirk2:

Well. The government enforced savings account, aka tax refund, hit the bank today. I was really pleased- we were able to take care of some things we needed too, and, since we are not planning on an actual vacation this year, we decided to purchase some much need household items.
Every since we've been married (ten years) we've made due with a hodgepodge of hand me down furniture. I don't think we've ever had matching things. Much to Lou's delight, we went to a furniture store tonight and spent a ton of cash- for us anyway. The haul included a new leather couch (dual recliners), two leather recliners, all matching,  and a new dining room table with six chairs.
My inner jew came out to play and bargained them down a couple hundred bucks from their asking price since we bought so much.
After leaving the furniture store we went to dinner, which was great and had some of the best waitstaff ever. Today was actually weird. Instead of surly salespeople and inept, rude waitstaff, we had possibly the best of both professions serve us. Kinda rare in my world. It made me pleased.
Now, I need it to not snow, ect. tomorrow so I can go pick up the furniture...
Now to finish the painting project in the kitchen and we will have the first half of the house redone...maybe.

Oh, and I ordered my ham radio beam I wanted.

I've decided the only time I will buy living room furniture new is if I can buy the kelly green couch from Ikea. That couch makes me drool. Sigh.

Otherwise, I will Craigslist it - and recover! Furniture is ridiculously expensive, and I just can't pay it. Yowza!
The current living room furniture I have I bought on Craigslist almost brand new for $200. A couch and two matching chairs.
The table and six chairs - again Craigslist $80. haha

That's the beauty of it, you don't do any math.  You just follow instructions. ie Type in the number that is box 1A then in box 2B etc.

TaxAct.com has been my weapon of choice for the past several years. No math at all, just answer the questions and plug in the numbers...
And Isaac, you would think that the chair would be broken in.....but I had to wait until today to go get the furniture with the truck and trailer. And lands it was cold loading and unloading it. Like 20 degrees, and they are forecasting a few inches of white stuff, I heard.
So, with the prospect of being snowed in, I am glad we have the new furniture home, and Domino and I are currently breaking in one recliner. Meanwhile, my house looks really ghetto/redneck outside- a couch and two recliners on the porch waiting for the folks that wanted them to come get them, and a dining room table in the carport..

Morning, all. The first day of session is here. This means that for the next month or two, I will have the priviledge of seeing and hearing ALL the blustering windbags known as politicians pontificate over first one thing, then another, do nothing that remotely makes sense to the common man, then pat themselves on the back for all the good they've done.  :pound:
I'm so over it. Let the games begin!
And the winter weather that is supposed to be here is still, as of now, forecasted for this area sometime this afternoon. All I want is to get home before it gets really bad. Somehow, the prospect of being snowed in at home is much more appealing than being snowed in at work. :smirk:

Probably because the people at home are more normal than the people at work.

If I had a choice of where to be snowed in, I'd rather be snowed in at church.  The people there are much more normal and sane than the people at work.  And the internet connection is faster. :D

Mom took a sick spell....stomach crud...  I hope it's not a bug and nobody else gets it, Lord God please, nobody needs that.  She takes a spell every so often of doing that, so hopefully it is just a "normal" thing and no harm will befall anybody else.  Dad had his own weak spell of some sort last night.

Doctor visit today that was a bit discouraging. First we have to get enrolled in ObamaDon'tCare on a plan we can't afford so I can see a doctor I desperately need to see. I still have an infection in my low back and start a third round of meds for it tomorrow. They have no clue on where to go with the headache issues. Once I have insurance they are talking about sending me to UVA or Duke. Meanwhile I still can't work or drive. Prayers appreciated!

In better news they're predicting up to 10 inches of snow tomorrow night. I hope they're wrong and we get 2 feet!

I cant complain about the weather much, it  was *69 here today, bright and sunny! Supposed to rain tonight and drop to *50, but still not as bad as yall. :P (so far no rain at our house though)

We went to Grannys today and burned up her yard and the woods. I took two pictures, but it was before the fire got started good.

Also, last night, a stray dog wandered up to her back porch. A beautiful German Shepard. So Aaron and I claimed him. He was very skinny and he was really shy at first, he wouldnt get anywhere near us for several hours, but after a big bowl of food and some fresh water, and a LOT of coaxing, he comes around now. We think he was dropped off on the highway and wandered back thru the woods to her house. He has a limp and is scratched up some, so we think he was thrown from a car or abused...he has a collar, but no tags, he was so skinny, he prolly hasnt eaten a good meal in over a week. We named him Winston, after Jameis Winston the quarterback for FSU. (MY idea...heheh) Granny of course will not have him in the house, so he is free to roam the yard and the woods, and if this house sells and my cousins get a new house with a yard, we will take him with us. But as long as he hangs around Grannys, we will keep him as OUR dog. :)

In other news, I got two texts today asking me about updates on my Mom, and I realized that I hadn't updated anyone in awhile.

She finally had surgery on Friday, and they put three pins in her leg above her knee. Surgery was good, it all went well. She has more good times with her mind now than she did have, most of her marbles are back and have stayed for the most part. She still cannot get up alone, and they are working with her with therapy.

The thing with Dad...*sigh* at one point we were told that the police were looking for him and gonna arrest him, but that never happened. YET. He got REAL snappy with my brothers when they were there, and said so many bad things about my deceased Uncle and my Aunt Linda that Chad actually rebuked him in the Name of Jesus right there in the hospital room. He had been yelling and screaming and carrying on like he does, and Chad rebuked him and he shut up for the rest of the day. He was quiet but Chad said he had this mean and evil look that he never came out of. John said that the boldness and anointing that came on Chad at that moment scared HIM. It was POWERFUL! He was glad he wasnt the one being rebuked. Then Mom got bold and said a few things to Dad she had been needing to say for awhile. She felt safe while the boys were there.

We still dont know what is going to happen long term. Mom said she doesnt want to be around him anymore if he is going to be violent. And the boys and I want her to live in Panama city in a home where Chad can look after her for the most part. John and I will only be 1.5 hours away and can visit more often.

So there it is. Ive been quiet for awhile cause I just didnt have the mental strength to deal with typing out this mess. I am loving my job, I love being here with my favorite cousins and belonging to a real family who actually loves one another and doesn't yell...(Well except Jessica, but she has mental handicaps so yelling is part of that.) I love the church and my friends and my new life. I feel I got away from my last situation just in time. But its still a lot to deal with, especially long distance now.

OH! This weekend my other cousins who Pastor a church in Port St Joe, sent us all the BOTT DVDs. So tonight we watched two of them. Bro Williams and Bro Robinette. I keep looking for my cousins, or my brother and Aunt, or Melodya and Nathan, but didnt see any of them. I saw a few friends and preachers I know, but not any of the people I was looking for. Where were yall sitting, Melodya?

Ok...that is all. :)

Bobby's pink kitchen - but, at least it's Princess-Approved!
Lady Melodya's special herb collection and leafy brownies
Seth's love for idiots and rotten carrots in his lunch.
Mini is hoping he and Chellebelle have triplets.
Lady JennJenn's secret? wish to have a good ole pale redneck guy sweep her off her feet, carry her away to the country, and only come back to a 'city' of 3,000 for groceries once a month.

hmm.... how is everyone? :)

Melodya, do you have any tips/tricks for making sweet stuff that's gluten-free? Like, cinnamon rolls or cookies or..... something?? *lol*

You can pretty much copy anything but actual chewy rolls/bread.

Cinnamon roll muffins, there are lots of great cookies out there. The trick I have found is not going for the GF flours that are empty starches. Flours with lots of protein make the difference. Quinoa, millet, almond, etc.  Namaste is a good brand that I like of "mixes."

Some day, I want another German Shepherd.

I'm at work.  I got here about 10:30.  I started out early but got to the road that crosses the river and there was a wreck from the ice and traffic was backed up.  I thought, forget this, and went home and ate breakfast with my hubby and piddled around and then headed back to work and made it fine.

I have a hard and fast rule. If I start for work and it is bad enough that I have to go back home, I'm done for the day. Ain't tempting fate, I'll just relax and assume God meant for me to have an additional day off. :P

And in my sharing for the day- after three weeks of waiting patiently for the title to come in for the Lincoln I am buying, I gave in and decided to use some of my state contacts to lean a bit and find out how much longer it would take. The answer did not please me. The paperwork is " at the examiner's". My question on how much longer I could expect it to take was answered with , "Oh, a couple more weeks". No way to speed it up. Morons. Lord. How long does it take to look at the registration, make sure that the guy filing for the lost title is the same as the one on the registration, check the VIN numbers and make sure they are the same, and hit "print"?!? Idiots. I could so streamline that department if they'd put me in charge of it..... :pound:

And such is your life, SmoopsiePoo.

So far, Winston is still hanging around...I got my first paycheck today...not very much, but after paying Tithes, filling the car up with gas, and saving half of the money it takes towards a new phone card, I bought Winston a 16 lb bag of food. Im not sure how much to feed a dog that size. Since he is so skinny and his ribs are showing, Im thinking a cup in the morning and one in the evening. Does that sound right?

And Melodya, I looked for you on the video of bro Huntley tonight. They were watching it when I got home from church (Donna is sick and stayed home, so her and Jessica watched BOTT) I still didnt see anyone who resembled yall, and tonight I saw all three of my new Pastors Daughters on the video, when the 40 and under people were called to the alter. Also, didnt bro Arnold preach? My cousin who made us the DVDs said she bought ALL the DVDs, and she copied them all, but there isnt one of Bro Arnold....I thought he was in the lineup this year?

Moms newest update.

*SIGH*

She got discharged today. And despite the Dr saying she needs to go to a nursing home or a rehab facility, and despite her promises that she wouldn't go home with him, Mom went home with Dad today. When I talked to her before church she said everything was fine, and she didnt want to leave him alone. Thats why she went with him. And the whole time i was on the phone I could hear him being hostile to her in the background. He was saying "What is she asking you? Why is she calling you? What is she saying? Answer me! You need to get off the phone!" Then suddenly Moms phone was "dying " and she had to go. Yeah right!

UGH!!!

After church Chad called me and he had  just got off the phone with her and she told him that I had called earlier and Dad hasnt stopped yelling at her since. He was yelling at her while Chad was on the phone.

I dont know what else to do. I dont know what the boys are going to do. Chad is convince that Dad is so far off his rocker and evil now that he may actually kill her the next time. He beat her for TWO DAYS with that cane before she was running from him and slipped out the door. She finally told the real story. He had been beating her, and she was in the bathroom getting cleaned up and was indeed naked. He was banging on the door demanding her to come out and screaming at her "what are you doing in there? What is taking you so long?" and she finally came out and he had  that cane and she headed for the door, stepped outside cause she knew he couldn't get out that door and she slipped and fell. Had nothing to do with getting Furby, or looking at snow...that was the story she gave at first till everyone knew that the bruises didn't match her story, and when the Boys got there, she got brave and told the truth.

:frustrated:

I dont know what to do. Im so messed up. That is NOT my Daddy. Not the one who raised us. He was always yelling, but except for ONE time when I was 16, he never hit any of us. EVER. This man is different. Hes snapped. Hes a crazy monster that made my Daddy disappear.

Snow!! Snow!!! Glorious snow!!!!! We currently have about 8 inches and it's still falling!!!! Woo-hoo!!!

I had planned on staying at my parents in Bristol, but when I got to there house after work yesterday they were bickering and trying to pull me in the middle. Dad still isn't working. He's been mostly cleared by the doctors. Even got a job offer to drive a tanker truck out and back. Home every night. He turned it down. He does not want to get back in the truck. He's currently mad at me because I haven't hired him at Autozone. I've tried to tell him repeatedly that I no longer work there much less am I in charge of hiring, but somehow it's my fault they haven't called yet. Mom is stressed about bills. She's the only one working. She says with savings they can make it til about mid to late March but dad HAS to get some sort of job. Income HAS to come in. But after their arguing yesterday I went ahead and drove the 40 minutes on home. Thankfully it was during a break from the heaviest snow.

Hope I can get out and go sledding this afternoon though. Don't let me down 4wd!!! [Honestly I was much more comfortable in my front wheel drive 5 speed Volkswagen than I am in the 4wd SUV.....]

Also anyone have any hiking/camping tips? Advice? Since there is no vacation planned this year with my family [and Brandon's family never does anything but get together to argue and gossip], Brandon and I have decided to take advantage of our beautiful surroundings and buy a tent and do camping trips on some weekends.

I love camping and that is what we'll be doing this year.   I try and find the quietest places.  During the week vs weekends are best. A REALLY Waterproof tent in case it rains if you don't mind a bit of rain showers, we don't.  I pack fruit and nuts and tons of water for hiking/boating because with all that sweating, junk food makes us feel yucky.

Hats for ticks if you have them in your area. Hannah and I wear our hair in a braid and up. Leggings if there's long grass for chiggers.

Oooh if you guys like projects, the "rocket stove" is really cool.  You can YouTube it.

Shoes are a big deal to me. I can't hike in flip flops but tennis shoes are way too hot for me. So I'll wear mesh type shoes or hiking sandals.

I don't have much experience with REAL rock climbing.

And TAKE pictures! I always forget but we have our best times camping.

I'll have to remember that Isaac. Greeneville isn't far from me now. I'm on the Jonesborough end of JC.

MY-I have both hiking boots and Chaco's [outdoor sandals]! And we have both ticks and chiggers in this area [UGH!]. Plus I just bought a new camera!! I can't wait. I'm so excited. I was up half the night looking at stuff on REI.

Sledding was SSOOOO much fun. I hadn't been in close to 10 years. Was quite surprised I was running circles around the younger teens and 20somethings. Also my car did so, so good. I'm quite proud of her.

Now to watch some Netflix, eat leftover Japanese food, and write an English paper. Oh! And I made a 110 on one of my test from last week!!!

It's true, helps weed out all the ones who can't make the long haul.

Last night Nathan took Hannah out for a father daughter dinner. It's so sweet. Andrew had a youth service and I'm babysitting some friends' child while they're away to a marriage retreat. So tonight was a fun family Valentines dinner.  Cheese & spinach stuffed raviolis with cauliflower bread sticks and marinara sauce, and sparkling blueberry juice. This morning we had had pink heart shaped pancakes and a purple smoothie.

Like my single friend says, "I just love Love.  It's a grand thing."  :)

Well, Lou and I had a wonderful day. Instead of going to Little Rock, we decided that since Fort Smith has a Sam's Club, and we had ALL day, and there *might* be a chance that an awesome couple that we love would be nearby and might could slip away for lunch, we might as well head  west.
Indeed, we were able to enjoy an awesome dinner with Mini and Chellebelle, bought out half of their local Sam's club and raided a thrift shop. And we also checked out a outlet mall type thing called "A to Z" in Van Buren...It was AWESOME. I bought a $150 GM approved Corvette jacket for $9. $9!?! A steal, I tell you. Of course Lou purchased a few things, including a new pair of shoes she's been wanting and several skirts. But A to Z's is so big, we need another day to go back and browse some more...

How is it unrealistic to be romantic? Seems you're the unrealistic one as my father isn't the only man in my world who treats his wife with effort. my expectations are set on what I see around me, in addition to the values I hold and what I believe God expects out of a man.

Note to self:  Never date Jenn.  Thanks to her dad, she will have unreasonable expectations of what a guy should be.   :smirk:

Unreasonable? Obviously if you think that you aren't even on the up and up on how women function.
How is it unrealistic to be romantic? Seems you're the unrealistic one as my father isn't the only man in my world who treats his wife with effort. my expectations are set on what I see around me, in addition to the values I hold and what I believe God expects out of a man.
My "Note to self:" was intended as a joke, based on your statement about your father setting the bar high.

Mind you, I never claimed it was a GOOD joke...

Hehehehehe, the tall ones.  :P

I'm sitting in the kitchen at the church. Youth service going on.  I baked all the pizzas and prepped homemade meatball sliders for their afterburner.  I have to toss the pizzas in the oven towards the end just to warm them up.   Andrew sang a little solo part of a song tonight.  Bless his enthusiastic heart. :)

:pound: Jenn :pound: Meller. Ya'll are mean. :sob:

But anyhow, it was a beautiful day today. Probably low 60's or so. I done some yardwork, burned my ginormus burn pile I've had for the past year, started digging the hole to put up my tower, and picked up a pork loin to cook.
I tried one of McCormmick's seasoning pack for "bourbon apple pork", I believe. Rub the loin down, cut up sweet potatoes and apples and coat in the rub mixture and place in the roasting pan, and broil it...It came out tender, moist and flavorful, with just a hint of apple flavoring. And the sweet potatoes weren't bad either, and I'm someone that hates them...
Topped it off with a decidedly unhealthy, fattening, and delicious Pineapple Upside down cake.. :fork:
Now I'm vegging and groaning, Chey is spending the night at the neighbors, and Lou is watching some chick flick on her computer. Ah, life is grand...

Playing the tambourine in church is either 1. A lost art. Or. 2. White people never really learned how to play. Or is it different down south or out west?  Tambourine is not really accepted at our church. LOL.

Except. The thing is.  I really can play. 😄  I grew up playing. Had my own for years.

It's not really accepted in our church too. Not much of a white culture instrument from what I can tell/my opinion lol.
We used to have one who played in our church. But she was very controlled with it, not overdone...something Pastor allowed and appreciated.

Had a visitor, well she came quite often, and she played and got kind of wild with it, and Pastor was like "um no". And stopped it.

Had to go to the zoo for my biology class (6-page questionnaire lol)....and took some pics of course.
Two of my favorite things in the whole wide world are flowers/plants and animals. The things God created first, and as an artist, I'm fascinated, captivated and in awe of them. Thankful I had on sunglasses, cus once I got to the lions, I felt a tad overwhelmed by their beauty and teared up.

The white tiger was amazing. They don't have any of the normal pigment that orange ones have, which is why they're white. God was just like "Oh hey orange tiger, you're cool, but let me be cooler and make your cousin devoid of any color, except his sapphire eyes". AMAZING. God is AMAZING. Right after I took this picture, he got up and came to the window where you can see him, and started pacing...he was HUGE!

I think tambourine playing was done a lot more around here amongst we honkies in this area, but it lost popularity over the years as did many things.

My brother used to play drums at our church and tambourines was one of his pet peeves.  Four or five different "players," all through the congregation, all keeping different beats...

Now we have only one in our church who plays the tambourine, and the drummer has noise canceling headphones on a direct monitor line from the sound board.

I am pleased. Y'all listened to your better and posted. :hypocrite:
And the tambourine has been the bane of my church going experience.  I can't count the number of times I have had to fight the very carnal urge to take one from someone and see just how close to a crown it would appear placed on a elaborate Pentecostal bun... Forgive me, Lord.
Fortunantly, I don't think we have anyone "playing" it regularly now.
And in sharing- Bro Wilson texted me at 2:45, while I was an hour away, asking if I had anything for Church tonight, as the Sunday School teacher was out of town and his substitute had called just moments before advising he'd had an emergency and couldn't make it. I didn't, but had a thought and a verse, so I went straight to church and worked up a message, with God's help.
Then the visiting minister showed up and delivered me- and my message. Preached nearly exactly what I would've. Nice to have confimation that you had the mind of God......

Great question. Idk. I asked Nathan and he thinks they've improved the sound since last year to minimize that. We used to have to wear ear pieces because the sound bouncing of the wall threw us off.  Hahaha we are a work in progress. Nobody plays the tamb. so perhaps it wouldn't throw us off now?

*sigh*

Short version...(cause Im so weary with this already, its really starting to stress me out to the point where I am not sleeping anymore and the nightmares have returned with full force...the yelling and screaming, the exhaustion, and last night I woke my self up THREE times cause I was slapping myself in the head while asleep...good grief)

Anyway. Mom was in a sorry state this last week since she got out of the hosp and back in the house with dad. Messing all over their new apartment, dad refusing to help clean her up, she cant walk cause of her broke leg, hims screaming at her cause she is helpless to help herself...just a mess. She even called the ambulance Friday and they wouldn't take her to the hosp cause she wasn't hurt or anything worth an ambulance trip, she was just dirty in her own mess and her husband was being stupid...bad yes, but not a reason to be hospitalized.

So this morning I get a call from my brother saying that Mom had been hospitalized cause she was severely dehydrated. Apparently with the stomach troubles, and dad being like he is, she wasn't getting enough fluid to replenish her system...so somehow she got hospitalized...Im not clear on the story if she got picked up by the ambulance or what happened...I was just glad she was admitted. if she is in the hosp, that means she is getting taken care of. Cleaned up, fed, and dad cant hit her or scream at her without a scene.

So on my way to work this afternoon, I called the hospital so I could talk to her...they connected me to SICU...I didnt know she was in there. So I couldnt talk to her, but the nurse said she was fine. Looked great, getting fluids and rest and was acting lucid and eating and talking normally. GOOD. Thats all I needed to know. I was satisfied, and continued my work day.  Tonight, John called and said Mom had a heart attack. Apparently, :headslap: they put her in the VERY SAME ROOM that her Brother died in not even two months ago, and when Mom realized where exactly she was at, she snapped and got all anxious and caused herself to have a pretty big heart attack. UGH.

I am thankful however that she was already in ICU when she had it, cause they were right there and helped her.

Tomorrow they are doing a heart cath and they may put in a pacemaker or stints or whatever they think is needed, but as of right now, she is looking pretty bad.

I keep reminding myself that God had His hand on my move here to Florida....but my flesh cant help but wonder if I somehow could have prevented some of this if I had not have left...and would Bro Ramsey still be alive if I had of stayed away from Allan the FIRST time we broke up? *sigh* Im just so confused and hurt by everything...I dont know what to think anymore.

When Bro. Stanger was still pastoring and I'd visit there and sing I couldn't stand their piano set up....the sound of the keyboard coming from the monitor was delayed from what you were actually playing.  HATED THAT.  Couldn't tell if I was supposed to sing with what I knew I was playing or what I was hearing.  I started playing the organ instead of the piano if I'd sing there, cause it wasn't run through the sound system.

RE: Zoo - I'd live at a zoo if I could. I really sincerely think I enjoy them more than any kids I know. I always ask to visit the zoo when we're near one.

RE: Tambs! - My former church had one WAAAAAAAAAY back, but the person playing it wasn't very good. Now my current church had a guy who played (also not very good), so it was hidden from him. I feel a little more.. personal.. about how people handle it. It's very frustrating to have it played off-beat, but the Bible says "joyful noise." Who are we to take away someone's praise? I've always felt that we were somehow wrong for having it taken away.

Mel, I pray for peace for you. Don't question what's happened and how, and don't feel guilty for decisions you've made to change where you are.  Your situation was extremely tough from what I've read through the years, I'm not even so sure I could've handled it in any way as well as you have. I believe that God opened those doors for you, just right in His time. We don't control life and death.

Footies?
Leggings?
Long sleeves?

If it's evening we might wear our fluffy robes.  Lol

It got up to FIFTY DEGREES today!!!  We didn't even need the heat.  I am SO ready for spring!!

Beautiful and sunny today, upper sixties to around seventy, would be my guess, although I didn't see a thermometer today.
I got up early this morning and went to an older friend's house to help him a computer program for his ham radio installed.
I then came home and began working on my tower project, only to discover I had need of a ladder. My older friend heard of it and drove 30+ miles to bring me a ladder, then stayed to help me install the bracket I was working on. It's good to have friends.
But now I have to return to work tomorrow. Bah.

A little girl was abducted yesterday and found dead today.  He was a teacher's aid? and a elementary coach.  This is why I'm suspect of men who want to work with children.

Oh my heart is broken.

The police were chasing him but could not stay caught up with him.  I can't imagine how they feel today.  There has been much debate here over the last few months on whether police should chase bad guys into residential areas (mostly the ghetto) because of the risk to pedestrians.  I wonder if it will affect the views?

Nothing in particular.  Obviously, not all men who work with kids are bad.

I have re-emphasized to my kids though that NO man besides their dad has any place to call them in a room alone.  And I know a sensible good man would never call a child to a place alone. Not even my pastor would do that, nor any men close to our family.

Depending on chronological perspective, one might say the same thing about the United States. We are a bunch of different groups from all around the world, many of us outcasts, and we haven't been a going concern for even 250 years yet.

Brandon bought a new car today. Well new to him. 1996 Subaru Legacy Wagon. Only 121000 miles on it. Which is remarkable for Subaru's!! I don't know if it's everywhere but definitely around here. He's so excited and giddy its cute.

I guess this is where our faith comes into play. God gave the land to Israel, He told them to rid the heathen out.  It is in the Bible, we can point to it. There is one physical Israel, one place God put His name.  So while I benefit from being here in America, I don't think we were as justified.  Not everyone coming over here were chosen people/ Christians.

And we are not a theocratic government as Israel (though only ostensibly, at times) was.

Our position is more that of the Jews in Rome, in the time of the first church.  Though I think the USA, for all its faults, is a better place to live than Rome was.

Ive had time to ponder on the 'no guys teaching small children' comments from earlier in the thread. I disagree. I have friends [both in church and in schools] who are male who teach from middle school age and down. There are children in both places who grow up with no father and no male role model. These are good men who can show children [both male and female] that not all men are bad [or however it is perceived by them their should be male role model is]. Also surround children with female teachers all the time [and at home if that's the case] and then be surprised when boys turn out effeminate.........sadly it's just how our world has turned out.

Awesome service with Bro Chavis this evening. Looking forward to hopefully returning tomorrow night. Good night GP.

My husband co teaches a type of Boy Scouts class at church for ages 8-12.  There are lots of Godly men working with children.

Doesn't mean that I don't wonder what the motives are for guys who are heavily involved with kids.  In this day and time, as a parent, it's a valid question.

I think male influences are strongly needed in all age ranges of development. However, you wont find me alone with anyone under 18 male or female. Never alone one on one with females except maybe the elderly. In this day and age a rumor can ruin your ministry. Kids need a family atmosphere. When a male influence is missing it needs to be provided in a godly way, but with common sense as well.

If I hear of anyone I know hurting a kid they better pray the cops find them before I do. I'll go into jail ministry. Sorry if that's to blunt for some.

Taco, Idk if I can say it exactly like that. I'm glad we have some good Christian principles at the foundation of this country but I don't think I can exactly say I'm ok with the people it's forever affected negatively. Like issues plaguing reservation communities or that there should have ever been any. I don't think it actually turned out that great or this country wouldn't be in some of the mess it's in.  We have handed down blessings but also curses and we still fight them today. Not valuing human life is still an issue America fails at, just as it did back then.  So how things turned out is reflective of how they began. I keep that in mind when the direction of our nation comes up.

I do pay extra close when men do.  Suspect at first is far from calling all of them pedophiles.

And bluntly, being in church, at church, with a good church doesn't make kids safe.  A few have risen in ranks even in our org before they were outed.  I'd rather be suspect at first than assume because they seem great they must be and then they aren't.

I know the world doesn't have Jesus but that's A LOT of fooled parents/employees/employers/friends over the yrs of people who were child abusers.  And it's certainly not like apostolic kids haven't been compromised. One grown woman confided she had been at church by a church person, when she went to the restroom.

I want to think its a rare thing but seriously, I'm on guard. Like a mama should be.

I get what melodya is saying.
Truthfully while the majority of us can agree or disagree with her, we truly don't have her instinct yet because we aren't parents. So we can have opinions and thoughts, but they're truly just those until we become mothers (or fathers). A mothers instinct is unlike any others and I do think it's God given.

Hello.

All is ok here. My cousin is still sick, she has been sleeping in the living room for over a week, trying not to keep her husband awake. Meanwhile, I hear her coughing all night, which is only fair cause I keep both her and Aaron up with my coughing and talking almost every night. Lol I have a chronic cough that never goes away, and just gets worse when I'm sick.

My body is TRYING to catch her mess. I'm sneezing and stuffed up at times, but I've been fighting it off with large doses of nyquill at night and vitamin C drinks during the day. I think I'm winning so far.

In Panama city, where I grew up, my former Pastors Wife passed away Wednesday night. She has been down and sickly for awhile. The funeral is Saturday, and fortunately I am off work so I'm going. I'm spending the night with my brother (Chad) and going to my other former church on Sunday. I am really looking forward to the trip...even the viewing and funeral, not cause Sis Carter has passed, but because I know I'm gonna see friends that I haven't seen in YEARS! Plus Justin an his family will be there and I get to have breakfast with them and hang out some on Saturday morning!

I'm excited!

Gotta work early tomorrow...at 9 instead of 2. But that means I'm off early so I can do the things I need to in order to leave early Saturday morning.

Mom is still in the hospital and doing well. No more major updates in that area thank God! No news is sometimes good news!

Goodnight.

And Rusty's newly developed oil leak has to be tracked down..but tonight, I am gonna go with the wife to a *gasp* Baptist church. He can't hold his dad a candle to run by, but I've heard him sing and the boy got a goodly portion of his dad's talent and voice. With any luck, he'll sing "Two Winning Hands" and "Call Me Gone"......

Newest update: my boss fired me on valentines, we got evicted from our house-we have four more days to get out of here... My boss is also the landlord...
But.. God is good... Because we have found a new house that's cheaper and bigger, and I just got a new job today at a florist, and God's blessing us financially so that the move is smooth. The house is almost completely packed up and I am anxious for this transition..
Also my Uncle Jerry is in the hospital, he had a heart attack, 5 of his valves or arteries or something is clogged.. They have to do bypass surgery on Tuesday.. Please remember that..
