Especially if there's chocolate around. Mmmmmm, chocolate...
I'm sorry, where were we again?
Have you ever flown?
:hi:
Wheeeeee!! :bustamove:
I have flown once. You should remember, it was the trip down to Texas when my car broke down. You met us at Wal-Mart when I was picking up a go-phone and backpack for the trip. You even helped me consolidate my luggage into fewer packs (which incidentally saved me a good $80 that I would have had to pay for a third baggage.)
It was a boring flight. I didn't even have a book to read. Fortunately it was only a couple of hours.
We thought today was the day with Pastor. But he remained stable, and they decided to do an EEG. The results came back that he had more brain activity than originally thought, so they want to get him more stabilized with meds and rest over the weekend and do an EKG on Tuesday to determine just how much brain function he has and if it's enough for him to be taken off the machines and live a somewhat normal life again.
I'm exhausted...we had like a family reunion today...there were SOOOOO many people, family and friends packed into the waiting room. I'm fellowshipped and stressed out.
*sigh*
Goodnight.
*Hugs* Mel
Taco - T-mobile has been REALLY good to my family. We've had 2 or 3 times now when we had a family emergency that sent us WAY over the minutes we were paying for, and they waived all the fees for us, AND gave us extra minutes to finish out the month. It would have been outrageously expensive if we had had to pay for them all. :o

They've been great to us till know. Loyalty department has been "redesigned". They are no longer focused on keeping long term customers but instead "growing new business". Even, admitted in an email they "mislead us for over a year promising us a free phone upgrade in November". Then when I asked them to stand behind the promises made they responded with "our company has decided to make these changes and we don't have to". Our phones are dying and unless we go back to $30 flip phones getting new phones with their new setup would almost double our bill.(Which we can't afford, especially right now.) In the middle of this we also found out their customer service has been out sourced under the new CEO. It was very disappointing.
Step one: Get an "unlocked" phone.
Step two: Get an AT&T gophone sim card.
Step three: Pay $30 a month for unlimited talk and text, or $60 a month for unlimited talk, text and more data than most people will use in a month. :)
No, AT&T did not pay me to advertise for them. It's just the best way I've found to go, and I've looked at everything I could find that was available.
Alternatively, instead of AT&T, get an Airvoice Wireless card. Or Red Pocket Mobile.
Red pocket is amazing. Dad has unlimited talk text AND data for $30 a mo. Albeit he only uses the talking part...he couldn't care less about texting or data.
Old people don't need cell phones.
Anyway. I can't breathe this morning...seriously. I got out of the shower and was like hyperventilating or something. I coughed and fought things all night. Spiritual things. I feel like something is sitting on my chest and I cannot breathe.
I better learn quick cause I have two of the leads in our Christmas musical this morning. Y'all pray for me. And still for pastor. In fact, I'll be fine. Just spend a few mins praying for him.
Thanks.

$60 a month is a rip off to me when I get all the minutes I need, unlimited text, and unlimited data for $35 a month. I've never gone over my allotted 300 minutes on Virgin Mobile.
Morning, all. Back at work.. Just today and two more, then nine days off.....
I have to work Monday all day & Tuesday until 2, then I'm off for five days. :D
I am so thankful that God takes care of us. I'm a mess at taking care of myself.

Wish I had a fireplace so we didn't have to just throw our Christmas tree out when we're done with it.
It's been a nice day despite the ice and bit of snow out there.
Stayed put at home all day. Got a case of achy muscles. :sadbounce:
Hoping I survive the last 2 days of holiday shopping madness.
Tia - you don't go over 300 minutes per month? I thought I was the only one who used a phone that little. I'd much rather talk to someone in person.
Now why didn't I think of this?!

Today, and one more day.....Lord. Bro Wilson preached last night, and went to monkeying with MY bible study. Apparently the study's worked on him too and he needed to expound on it. Excellent message.
Lou and Chey have decided for me, that since we aren't having company for Christmas and her mama is having a family Christmas Saturday, we are NOT having a traditional Christmas dinner. I was told to pass on the ham, pass on the turkey- I could either cook Roast Beast or buy some steaks. As I know not what a Roast Beast actually is, we shall buy steak. Some small ones. Hopefully some the butcher has cut to half price..
Our family has been doing that for a few years now. We do steaks on Christmas day. Its a great way to change the menu.
What do you MEAN you're not having company? I'll fix that! I'll hit the road as soon as we're done here. My family all gets together for Christmas breakfast.
Or at least that's what I wish I could say. In reality we go back to work Thursday, the day after Christmas, so taking a trip down there would be unfeasible. Last year we were off three weeks, for lack of business. This year they're squeezing every work day in they can without starting a revolt among the workers.

I don't either - I barely hit 150 a month. I have like loads of rollover minutes.

Rare that I use more than half of my cell phone minutes. If I have to talk on the phone I prefer my home phone that I can hear better on. Mostly have the cell phone for my convenience. If I can break my Internet addiction I could bump down to GoPhones $25 a month plan.
been cleaning out unnecessary email subscriptions since junk mail is mostly what I get anymore in my inbox. Annoying how many places automatically put you on the email list if you buy something from their site or sign up for an account.
I hate that. I also hate giving my email at stores to check out. So rude.
You can decline. I never give mine out. It's just the digital era we're in. Savings in emails are easier these days it seems. I have a "spam" email address - specifically for this type of request. lol
Was mostly getting rid of the unnecessary subscriptions in preparation to get offline more after Christmas
I hardly talk on the phone at all... my husband uses the phone much more than me.
Doctors update; More med changes. My blood work is showing that my kidneys are reacting as if I weren't even on a fluid pill. All kidney function is normal, but the things diuretics usually elevate in order to increase output aren't happening in me right now. They are trying to figure out if I'm immune to what I'm on or what's going on
We are still playing a waiting game on both the migraine and cluster headaches. They changed a med for pain that God somehow took from $687 to $91 to $19.26 leaving me and the pharmacy worker amazed. God also used someone to provide us with an unexpected blessing today which enabled us to get that and all the medicines today.
Thank You God For What Your Doing In This!

When a store asks for my email or phone number I just look at them kind of fishy and ask "why would you need that to ring up my order?" They always admit it's for future advertisements, at which point I politely decline to give them it.
Praying, Mel..While I know it is not much consolation, I've spoken with two ministers today outside of here that both informed me that your pastor was a great guy and a great man of God., who they knew and loved personally. I hope that when it comes my time I have as good a reputation amongst my peers.
In other sharing- I just finished a delicious dinner of chopped steak in mushroom gravy, mashed tators, corn, and baked beans. For dessert was a tasty homemade buttermilk pie. :fork: Last week I tried the recipe out, but it called for a cup and a half of sugar. :o I made it as the recipe stated, but it was really too sweet to eat. Tonight I cut the sugar in half, and it was almost perfect.. I *might* try to cut it back to half a cup from the 3/4 cup I tried tonight, but this one is so bad close to perfect I may not mess with it. Chey made me laugh too- after protesting that she HATES buttermilk and " that pie will be nasty", I got her to taste it- it's now her favorite and she's getting on to Lou for eating a piece, claiming "Mama's gonna hog ALL MY PIE!" :laughhard:
So post the recipe already! With your version of the amount of sugar, not the original spec.

Easy Peasy...
(1) Piecrust, unbaked
Mix 3/4 cup of sugar,1/4 cup of flour (all purpose, not self-rising), 3 beaten eggs, 1/4 cup melted butter,1 cup buttermilk, and 2 tsp of vanilla- mix well...Pour into crust, bake @ 350 degrees until "not jiggly" :laughhard:- that's how it was described to me. :biglaugh: Seemed to be around 30 minutes or so, but don't quote me on that. Ten minutes' prep time if you use a frozen crust. And I still think we could cut the sugar back to 1/2 cup without issue, but my "test group" here says don't mess with it.
One of the easiest pies I've ever made, and since I love a buttermilk pie, I was overjoyed to get the recipe.. :thumbsup2:
Oh... you use a prefab crust. Rats. I was hoping you used the traditional buttermilk pie crust with cornmeal in it.
Getting really tired of being unable to work and having my boss treat like trash over it. I might need prayer for my attitude.

Got off work to find a text message from dad that says:
"News Flash ------- Fat man sighting at your end of the street? ? ? ? ? (mumbling something about Ba - Humbug - Ho - Ho - Ho - Ho)"
Dad got into my house while I was at work and put up a bunch of coat hooks in various rooms and a clothes bar on my back porch / laundry room.

Three times they have called out AC guys to find out I could of fixed it if they would have put our unit in our apartment. This old building and this landlord just baffles me at times.

Yup. From what I hear it gets like that about this time of year.
Hush Isaac...
Funeral arrangements are for Monday and tuesday...
And I REALLY REALLY need my mom to help me get a new phone. I have to give mine back to Allan and he is harassing me about it. But I cant give it to him till I get something else in case I get called about a job.
After the funeral on tuesday, Im going to Florida for two weeks. I need a break from all this drama and tragedy.

I worked till 6 PM today and actually managed to get off pretty close to on time.... doesn't always happen on Christmas Eve. Been wrapping presents and making Jello Cakes since I got home in preparation for Christmas with my family tomorrow.

So tired.
I hear ya. I'm not sure if I drank too much coffee today or not enough. Lol.
I burnt half a batch of rolls tonight. I only have enough flour to make another half batch. That's what I'll be doing in the morning.
Merry Christmas to my GP family!!!!! I wish health, comfort, and well-being to all of you. Be blessed today and every day!!
Merry Christmas to all you guys :hi:
Merry Christmas to all! We got up late today, and I cooked some awesome steaks that had been marinating for nearly 24 hours...came out delicious! Then Lou, Chey,Domino the Chihuahu and I loaded up Rusty and went for a cruise looking for picture taking opportunities. We snapped a few, posted a couple on facebook that we felt came out okay, and all around had a good evening. Now I'm cleaning/rearranging the ham shack while they veg out...
Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas over, back to work. There's gonna be heap big complaining at work about having to return the day after Christmas, but at least it's more money than we would have got. And maybe it'll distract them from complaining (yet again) about politics. ;)
Hope all of you had a Merry and have a Happy.
Good morning :hi:
Gotta work tonight. Probably have lots of carts of returns to put away.
Lou had to go in at 4 am...apparently they were expecting a crowd for the day after sales. It's been crazy at our local WalMart the past two weeks. I've never saw it as busy as it has been this year. I wonder why?
Chey and I stayed up until the wee hours, so we've slept in. I just got up and she is still snoozing.
Liberals say because the economy is better. Conservatives say because Deals are that much more important with fiscal stress. Couponing is up too. Lol
I'm being a lazy bum today. Put the oven on self clean, and cleaned the kitchen. I may not do much more!
Dad met with his regular doctor this morning. It's not gallbladder. I didn't think so especially with the 'blacking out' aspect of this latest episode. He has to go get fitted with some sort of monitor next week to wear for the next month. Anytime he feels any sort of pain, shortness of breath, etc he has to press a button and the monitor will make notations. I honestly think his anxiety/mental illness is rearing it's ugly head again.
I have everything from the bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen that is mine packed and moved out of Henson Road. I only have our spare room let which is mostly books. lol. Also had to take my other cat from their house and leave her at work. Poor girl was freezing on the back porch and covered in burrs when I got there. I'll either have to find her a home or throw myself on the mercy of my mom to take her or Topher.
:couch:
:hi: We had church tonight in place of last night... Bro Wheatley preached for us. After church we wandered by Walmart, where I bought paint supplies and two gallons of paint so I can do something useful while I'm off all week. If things work well, our kitchen/dining room areas will soon be "Red Delicious" with "Pure White" trim and cabinets..
When we got home, I was pleasantly surprised when Lou found an old phone we'd given to Chey that still had a memory card in it. After looking on the memory card, I found all those priceless (to me) photos and videos of Chey from her toddeling around and dancing before her first birthday. They are now on my phone...better than Christmas day for me.
Have you voted for TACO yet? :)
The short trip to Elona's Dads wiped me out. Could barely move today.
I'll be so glad when this test is over!
Feeling rather blah tonight :sadbounce:
Christmas didn't go all that well, but on to the New Year!
Say a prayer for me please 4 clusters since 11pm. One of those nights where the days with out sleep has caught up with me and I keep dozing off. I literally can't take much more I know I need sleep but sleep is going to trigger a cluster guaranteed. It's a matter of how much sleep I get before it hits so far tonight 10-20 minutes before one hits. If I could just get an hour or two before it hit I think it would feel like 8 hours.

No of course not. :hypocrite:
Yeah...Christmas wasnt all that great. We had lots of food, but nothing traditional cause people brought funeral food...it was good, but as usual my family is always broke so we didnt do gifts at all. Mom asked me a few weeks ago what I wanted or needed, and I said three things, a new package of socks, a bra, and a pair of sweat pants to sleep in...I didnt think that was asking much. I didnt get any of that or anything else for that matter...so why did she ask? UGH. I hate the act of gift giving when I dont have money to spend on anyone and I feel left out cause I dont ever get anything myself. I dont need or want much, just to be appreciated by the ones I have selflessly helped the past three years of my life.
This week has been the longest ever, and it wont be over till tuesday. After the funeral tuesday, Im leaving here with my cousins and spending a few weeks in Florida. I HAVE TO GET AWAY. Im so tired of all the drama and sadness.
Today, Im hanging out here at the apartment. Gonna do some cleaning and prepping for my trip. I may cook supper. Ive been eating over at the Ramseys house, but Mom and Dad wont go over there. So they havent had me here cooking meals so I may do something for them tonight just cause. Not sure yet.
I wish it was Wednesday.
/me leaves a hug for melbs!
Love and praying for you all regular GP'ers.
Mel, gifts is so not my love language. I endure it for the kids and think, "I'd had rather did a better job of teaching them this or imparting that." Material things fall so short in truly "giving." You've given many of us here, friendship and laughs to last a lifetime. I hope you know how much you're loved. ♥
I'm off to clean the church.
I don't know what my NY's resolutions are. I usually don't really actively doing anything till the year has gotten underway. Apparently even at 11yrs old, Hannah still forgets and tells us all about the revolutions she is about to start. LOL That's probably the last kiddie word she has. I correct her, but my mama self still thinks it's cute, even if it probably isn't cause she's too old for it to be.
I honestly dont care much for getting gifts, I DO however LOVE giving them. Seems the last few years Ive been so broke I cant afford to do what I would like to do in the way of giving gifts to my family and friends. I just found it aggravating that I have given and given and given of MYSELF to my parents for years now, and they do NOTHING to show they care or appreciate. Then I get on FB and see people who have wasted thousands of dollars on toys and gifts for their families, the living rooms PACKED to the ceiling (no exaggeration) with presents and everyone so happy and I didnt get ONE. SINGLE. THING.
Then we have to go thru this whole thing of my Pastor dying, two days before Christmas...my boyfriend being one of the causes of it...me finding out a bunch of stuff about him and having to break it off and being ALONE AGAIN for the rest of my life....plus all the other normal c.rap I deal with daily.
No, gifts are not my love language...but a bit of thanks and gratitude and feeling like Im worth something and loved would be nice on the holiday. Instead my whole world comes crashing down and I feel like Ive lost everything. Not to even mention that I still dont have a job...Allan wants his phone back, and when I come back from Florida and my parents move, I will have no place to live myself. I cant stay in the apartment since my uncle is gone now, and I cant get married and move in with my husband after seeing his true colors. So whatever. *shrug*
And Im NOT leaving Pascagoula till God tells me to.
Im just having a rough day. Sorry for the attitude.
Mel, we love ya. Even on the rough days. You have multiple griefs to bear right now. *hugs*
I'm not speaking for God but He does answer in more ways than just words. Often He will make us terribly uncomfortable so that it's clear it's time to go where our growth has room to bear fruit.
A new pastor also may bring amazing things that are incomprehensible right now. That is just how good God really is. He sees the beauty down the road that will make the present hard times make sense.
*Hugs* Mel. Twice.
:beret:
I am procrastinating something terrible today. Does anyone want to do my 4hrs of church cleaning today?
I have no excuse.
Our family game this year is RISK. So far, it's been hilarious. The first handful of rounds we all just built up our armies. You know, taking a lot of Risks. Then Nathan tries to take over the "world" basically and Hannah gets all wound up too. They are competitive. Meanwhile, I fell asleep midway through the game and they decided it wouldn't be nice to obliterate me while I'm asleep. Andrew has spent so much time strategizing, I'm not sure he's accomplished much. We are a silly mess, I tell ya.
My sister is supposed to be coming into town tonight around midnight. With her twins. Who I'm not clearly sure are potty trained fully...They are nearly five. It's going to be an interesting weekend. I could use some prayer if you all have room on the long lists.
/me leaves hugs for her GP friends
MelodyB: They brought funeral food? What is funeral food, and why is it thus designated?
MellowYellow: My new year's resolution is to not make any new year's resolutions - which I just broke by the simple act of making it. Now that that's out of the way I can enjoy New Year's Eve. :thumbsup2:
I make goals. Not a ton. Nothing big. And I actually try to work towards them. Sometimes it gets sketchy through out the year but I can look back and see some progress, even if it's minute. The fact that it's New Year's doesn't jinx it for me. I get a little melancholy and reflective at the end of the year anyhow. Might as well make it productive. :)
Mel- as I've said before to you, God is working, even we can't see it. Easier to say than live, I know, but it's going to work out. God didn't bring you as far as He has to abandon you now.. Lou and I love you and are praying for you..

Funeral food is the equilviant of pot luck...random items that may or may not "go" together. Just whatever anyone brings.
Good food...just not the traditional Christmas fare.
Tradition can be... inconvenient, especially in gustatory matters. I usually ignore traditions concerning food - not to deliberately fly in the face of tradition, but to enjoy something I would not have enjoyed had I stuck to tradition.
If I could choose I would always choose grilled lamb steaks, hands down. Best meat I have Ever had. Israel was on to something. I can never afford them though. Lol

You also picked the hardest pigment color to paint. Red is a very thin paint pigment wise, thus the reason you'll need more than one coat versus a heavy pigmented color as white or beige, or blue or something.
When I was in ceramics, we never could use any red hue (red/orange/pink etc) cermaic paint. Its 10x more expensive, and 10x thinner, which meant you had to do three times as many coats.

This, I did not know. :sadbounce: Of course, had I known, it would have made not one whit of difference. My loving bride- and I, I may as well admit- had our hearts set on the red with white trim scheme seen in many home decorating magazines. It doesn't
look that time consuming in the magazines and on Youtube... And besides all of that, the white with slightly darker stripes on the wall had to go. Lou'd put up with it for ten years, when it was the one part of our house she didn't like. It was going away with or without me, I just felt I could mitigate the destruction by doing it now instead of letting her have her head. :P But now I know that I should've Killz'd ? it before painting..It was kinda a test on this one wall to see if the paint would adhere without me sanding and other unpleasantries...It will. However, the living room and hall may very well wait ten more years for their turn at being refinished. :laughhard:

Morning y'all. I'm about to head out to east TN to visit Mom and my youngest brother. But though I'm leaving early in the morning, I won't get there by noon - there is a McKay's used bookstore in Nashville. McKay's is almost as big as the old-style Wal-Marts, and the first floor is all used books. The second floor is music. :D :D :D And they have a whole area of scratched CDs for 90 cents, 72 cents, 38 cents, 16 cents... Yeah, I'm going to be spending a few hours there.
My mother made a tactical error. She said, "Oh, did you know there's a McKay's in Knoxville as well?" You should NOT have told me that. Now I may get to my destination before midnight. Maybe not.
I LOVE McKays in Knoxville!! haven't been to the one in Nashville. there is also Mr Ks if you make it all the way to Johnson City.same type of store just not as big.
mom and dad just got back from the ER. dad woke up in pain again. it's not his heart. now has to go to a GI specialist too. with being fired, his insurance runs out the 30th of this month. mom is beyond stressed. I broached the topic of staying here and helping. she said it would be best for me to continue in my plan. she refuses to put me in the position Brandon is with his parents.dad also is no longer allowed to drive.
speaking of Brandons parents, they have decided that I no longer exsist. which is fine by me. less stress in my life.

And Isaac. I now have a craving to visit Nashville... :laughhard:
:hi:
All my things are packed and moved from Henson. Granted it's mostly now in storage in the basement at work. BUT I get my key tomorrow for my apartment. So weird to think in a week I'm going to be moved somewhere completely new.
Work Christmas party this evening. I'm mostly going for the free food and to watch my coemployees make drunken idiots of themselves.
Antique store finds today: a glass topper for this miniature cake stand I have, a postcard of a lion with a caption "you're the cats meow", and a $0.59 Rumba record. Awesome!!!
Shew.
HeatherB: I've been to Mr. K's. I used to think it was big, until I found McKay's.
I got about 120 CDs today. :D :D :D
:o. Oh my...
Does anyone think we may need to stage an intervention in Tennessee?

Hey that's only the Nashville McKay's. I haven't been to the Knoxville one yet. I decided to wait until Monday for two reasons - 1, if I stopped at both of them today I might get to Mom's by maybe midnight; 2, I can take my little brother and my niece with me to Knoxville Monday.
Liberal do gooders leave it alone
Rather disconcerting when the preacher reads right through ya and hits the heart of the issue, even in a text message conversation. :o
Just had that happen to me tonight.
Hey Scrooge you're running out of material. You keep recycling your lines. Maybe hire a professional script writer?
Isaac, Lou's eyes lit up like spotlights when I told her of your recent cd buy..."What songs? Who?" :laughhard:
And finally the painting is coming together. For what it's worth, after the first two coats, I was concerned that I'd taken a decent looking but dated wall to the realm of the unlivable. But it's covering nicely now and looks quite nice. Now is all that detail/trim work...I hate that. Some of the trim won't come off without breaking, so I must tape off and paint, which I hate. It rarely comes out looking as well finished as I would like. I will just have to take my time..
2 o'clock service today, with potluck following....:fork:
Church this morning was great. I now have my apartment key. Moving things start tomorrow. Making chili for my family. Dad and I are watching football. Mom is at work. I figured chili is something we could munch on all day.
This sooooo looks like the kind of thing someone around here would try :o
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UytSNlHw8J8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UytSNlHw8J8)
My sister, her daughter and 4 yr twin boys came to church with us today. At altar call an elder lady screamed a scream and fell out close to them. The kids thought she died. LOL well. I don't think they'll soon forget that service. Been 4yrs since they visited church.
After a sleepless night tossing and turning and worrying about how in the world we would have church knowing our pastor had died and not knowing the future of our church...we had the most incredible service!! Three (I stated 2 on FB but was corrected at lunch) got the Holy Ghost, and we just all around had an amazing service. The unity and the love shown and felt was amazing, and my cousin Randy, who was asked to preach, totally chewed us up and spit us out...in a good way.
We are moving forward. God knows why He took our Pastor, and while we hate he is gone, He had to remove him out of the way apparently to accomplish the goals He has for us. Sometimes changes HURT. But in the end we will see that He knew what He was doing, and taking our Pastor may very well be the first step to us moving forward.
It was a HARD message to hear...but we sure needed it. It was recieved well, and we had a shout down afterward. I know he sure read my mail.
I'm awake now...1:13am...throwing up was what woke me up. Coughing till I threw up.
This stress and anxiousness is killing me. I thankful for what I got at church today. And the fellowship with the massive amounts of family that has already arrived has been awesome. More comes in tomorrow and we have the viewing in the afternoon.
I am READY to get out of here for awhile. After the funeral on Tuesday I'll be headed to Tallahassee for a couple of weeks. Maybe more. I'm not sure yet.
I need to clear my head. These past two weeks have been so stressed that my body can't take much more. I'm liturally sick and have been every night for days now.
Anyway...I'll make it. I always do. :)
been wide awake since 345 am. it's gonna be a long day.....
Bro. Bobby: Sis. Lou wouldn't believe it if I told her. I was sorting through some of them last night and found some good modern christian, christian rock, a few good southern gospel, christian rap, black gospel, christian techno... and one Jamaican christian album. Not americanized reggae, real Jamaican. Don't ask me how, but it's actually good.
And I'm not halfway through sorting out the box I got from the Nashville McKay's yet - and we're going to the Knoxville McKay's today. :D
Sounds just like Jesus, Mel! So glad to hear it.
Not sure what things I want to tackle today. My sis is gone and everything needs a deep clean, plus the church, and weekend laundry. Lol

I have to clean, and finish laundry too. Plus make sugar cookies in the shapes of stars and put 2014 on them. Start decorating for my New Year's Eve party. Excited!
/me  for melbs!
That sounds so fun Jenn! We're going to a NY eve party too. Not sure what I'll bring. I've been wanting to try a new chicken wing recipe but might just stick with my old one.
Which sounds better? Brown sugar chicken wings with red pepper cream dipping sauce OR jalapeño lime chicken wings with ranch dipping sauce? A big ole bag of chicken wings is a cheap way for me to make a lot of something.
jalepeno lime with ranch.
Im giving Allan back his phone today...well, Im not, Taylor, his cousin...our cousin...whatever he is, is gonna go drop it off at his work. Allan told me I could use it for awhile, then he whines to his Mommy who in turn texts and calls my aunt Linda who just lost her husband and harasses her about the phone...and she says that WE are the ones being childish. He can have it, I would rather e completely without a phone than for anyone to hurt my Aunt Linda during this time that she is already going thru.
Im leaving town tomorrow with no way to contact anyone, and maybe thats the best thing. A clean break for a couple of weeks may be just the thing I need.
Of course my cousins have phones and computers, so I can access some, but Im purposely not taking my computer so my computer and internet time will be limited while away.
Sometimes I think it'd do us all good to "unplug" for a few days or weeks. But I am weak and addicted to some forums... Hope you enjoy yourself Mel. We will TRY not to talk about you, although it'll be hard.....:-p
This vacation is killing me. I stay up late, sleep in later, and paint. I told Lou today I am going to finish the dining room, then the kitchen is going to wait for a while...I'm really dreading painting the cabinets.
Back at work today after being off since the afternoon of the 24th. Playing catch up today then off for 2 more days. :)
Well I only got about 35 CDs because my brother and niece went with me and they have no stamina at all. :P Only kidding... I know normal people have no desire to spend 4+ hours in a bookstore/music store. I'll be going right through Knoxville on my way home Wednesday, and I know where I left off today so I'll finish them off in two days. Bwahaha and all that.
MellowYellow: Red pepper (I'm assuming it wasn't supposed to be red paper...) cream could be good, depending on how it is made. As long as you go for real cream, not that lowfat junk, it should be very good.
MelodyB: Do check in every once in a while. Fill us in on how it feels to be FREEEEE! :D
2 loads of things moved to the townhouse. Last bit of things that need to washed are here with me at my parents. Going to start sorting clothes and packing them. Made all the harder because I'm leaving Thursday to housesit for 9 days. I'm horrible at packing even just for a weekend. Much less what I'll need for that long with all my other things being packed too. No 'hey can you bring me such and such skirt'? Sheesh....

Almost done painting..... And slightly bummed. I have a friend that bought one of my "bucket list" cars to own- a 1996 Corvette LT4 6 speed- a couple years ago. Semi-rare car (There were only 6359 made) in beautiful condition. He'd mentioned in passing that he would probably sell it someday. I've been trying to pay off the mountain o' debt I went into to keep Daddy's truck when he died, with the fervent hope that I would be close enough to having it cleared when Charlie decided to sell.. Bah. He called today. I'm 6 to 9 months away from where I need to be to buy. :pound: It ain't fair. :sob: My dream car, gets 30 mpg and is ready to daily drive, and I can't raise the 8 grand I need..... :sob: I may still go torment my banker, but I suspect I owe a tad more than I need to get the payment right..
You posting maniacs. I can barely keep up...
:P
Ugh. Noon is too early to be awake today. :P
Lord. I have not one ounce of energy or motivation today. Glad it's still my vacation...
Same here. But I have to clean the church.
I think I may not be feeling so hot and might just stay home instead if partying after church. What can I say. I'm getting old. Lol
We're not having church tonight. No church last Wednesday night, no church tonight, and I missed church Sunday because I was out of town. Bleh.
Not doing much so far today. Nice lazy day.

It's a good thing I didn't carry my knife into work today. It was ridiculous. Not just busy but my coemployees were just....stupid....
Moving some more things this evening then attending my friends birthday party.
Lou drug me to Conway to see the newest Munchkin in her family- her baby brother Joe and his wife had their second child, a boy. There were more folks out and about than I liked, but to be truthful if there'd been two people out it would've been two too many.:smirk: Now I've made it home and have my family with me, so I don't have to worry about drunks on the road for the most part.
There was a time a few years ago, this was the night I looked forward to all year. I LOVED working roadblocks and arresting drunks. Weirdly, though, I'm not missing that as much as I used to. Still a little pang of knowing I'm missing out on the fun of taking drunks off the highway, but all in all, I'm okay with resting at home.

I need a statue of a southerner to smack every time it snows. I'm sure not all southerners are that incompetent. Idk what else to attribute it to. It's not LAVA. Or even ice. LOL. Snow on the road does not mean it's insanely slick. Just don't go 80 mph. That does not mean going 35 mph on the interstate that is basically clear. I get at first it's disconcerting but c'mon it only takes a few minutes to get a feel for it. This is qualifying enough that Missourians consider themselves southerners. No northerner would claim them.
I am going south for the first time in my whole life in 3wks. Alexandria, LA. Driving. I hope I survive. Lol
Ok. I'm done. Thank you.
*runs off giggling annoyed*

But you are a married lady, so I won't volunteer.

Forget the statue. We just need SNOW, period! They keep promising it and keep forecasting it and keep predicting it and we never get any of it. Liars, liars, liars, the whole weather service is a big pack of snow liars. :tantrum:

I want to smack my boss! For many reasons! I'm not suppose to "worry or think about work" according to him until he needs something then on all these meds and in pain I'm suppose to remember stuff on demand.
In other news... I now have a coffee cup that will hold 9 cups of my 12 cup coffee maker. I'm a happy man!It was a gift. :)
That's not a cup, that's a tankard!
Had a great day. Enjoyed fellowship with my ham radio friends, managed to contact an all time new country for me- Nambia- and did so with three other ham radio operators watching, then let them contact the rare country, thus making their day. All that and I was able to take an idea put forth by another ham on a mic "boom" to hold the mic, and adapt it to my needs. Heil charges between $60 and $120 for one- I have $15 in mine. Feeling rather pleased and a touch smug at avoiding their high prices.
Now, I'm off to church to teach the weekly bible study- if anyone shows up. I am so glad this holiday mess is behind us...
Put me in the slapping/punching/cutting group of people in need of anger management. In my case it should be dealing with stupid people management. Sheesh.
We had 100+ reports of car wrecks in my area today due to ice this morning. Now the snow is coming down. I can't decide if I want enough to call out of work or not. lol.
Baby, it's cold outside. lol
At least 27 is cold to me. ;)
That's cold!! That's our high for the day. Right now it's 9* and Nathan is working outside building a stone wall. He'll need a bit to warm back up tonight.
They didn't work yesterday. It was -10* with the windchill but mostly because the lime they needed was frozen solid and though they had used a saw to cut through the frozen ground to begin the wall, it would be still too much to try and dig that. You men probably understand all that, I've never built a stone wall before.
I understand it and I'm shivering and tired just thinking about it.

I had a great day today at work. Catching on the furnace line is a great job because my pace is determined by what is coming off the line - so I had plenty of time today to listen to these new CDs! :D :D :D Found a lot of neat stuff.
I've somewhat enjoyed the next to last day of my mini vacation. Chey and I went by the library, by the local butcher shop and picked up some fresh hamburger, and came home to veg out.I got a call from one of my ham friends that'd came over yesterday morning- he was complaining loudly. See, I'd given him several of the leftover cinnamon rolls from yesterday morning to keep me from eating ALL of them. His complaint was that he'd ate ONE, and his wife, after tasting them, carried what she didn't eat to work with her, then called him to rub it in that HE didn't have cinnamon rolls and she did.
And fwiw, it is COLD here. They are saying the low sunday will be 12 degrees, and monday it just gets worse- 5 degrees. The high Monday is supposed to be 22. That is NOT Arkansas weather. :pound: Stinkin' Yankees, lettin' their nasty weather come down here.
Sounds familiar. I sent some sourdough cinnamon rolls home with Chel one time and her parents didn't get so much as a sniff.
Then tell the southerners quit wanting snow. Lol

Much too long. Back in 2008 when the economy tanked and I was looking for work, I started going stir crazy before the first month was up.
Howdy. I'm alive! :hi:
Funeral on Tuesday was amazing! The power of God swept in and we laughed and cried and gave my pastor a great send off! He would have loved the music and the dancing. His wife and my brother tore across the front with his prayer shawl draped around them, and I'll tell you what...wehadfun to sing the song again...twice. Yeah, it was THAT good. No funeral songs for that service...we had CHURCH!
After the graveside service, (it was FREEZING BTW, and windy) the family came back and had a good ok fashion eatin' meetin'. The ladies in our church did right by us and we had all kinds of lovely food. Then we (my cousins and I) said our goodbyes and we left. I was packed and READY to go.
10 minutes into the trip and I was already starting to relax. So much so that I dozed off...I slept MOST of the 7 hours it took to get to their house. I woke up when we stopped a couple of times, and I tried to stay awake, but just was too exhausted.
When I say exhausted, I mean it. We got here, it was about 10:30. I put my stuff in my room, helped unload the car, put on my PJs, we watched the ball drop on the TV and each had a mini bottle of bubbly to drink and I promptly went to bed.
I slept.
And slept.
And slept some more.
Then a little more.
No joke...I went to sleep Tuesday at midnight...woke up around 12:30 noonish on THURSDAY. Yes, I got up briefly to eat and potty and I think I took a shower at some point, but honestly, I don't know much of anything about those two days. I was TIRED. After all the stress and sickness at home, it wa a relief to be somewhere where I could physically FEEL a difference.
I'm still tired, still catching up on rest, but I feel a lot more relaxed and calm now. Today we ran errands and did some stuff, and tomorrow I'm going to my brothers house for the day. He's promised a pot of chili and a FIRE!!! WHOOT!! cant wait!
That's my share for now.
:hi:
Wow. I only sleep that much when I'm sick. That's the only time I'm that tired. I can't even imagine being that tired without being sick.
Glad you got caught up on rest and are feeling good. :)
Grief and stress will do that to you. And we women carry stuff much more then men. Stress affects (effects? I never know) our bodies.
Glad you got some sleep melbs!!!! And are having a good time.
Praying God rejuvenates you and gives you what you need!!!
Affect and effect can both be used for some cases. "Effect" as in "we can effect the new policy immediately" is a great way to trip up grammar nazis. ;)
But in this case, stress affects our bodies.
All things except me are now moved to my apartment. I'm still staying at the lake house petsitting.
Everything here is frozen. Our low coming up Monday night is supposed to be below 0. And yes, everyone around here is flowering out about it.
Mel-I'm glad you got some rest and some SLEEP!
Boiling mad...at Walmart. I told Lou, while she was at work to have the oil changed in her car, telling her to just have them put the bulk oil in it. The bulk oil even is good enough now, especially the kind of driving we do and as often as we change oil. Those fat crooks tell Lou that it'll mess up the engine if they don't put synthetic oil in it. Since she couldn't get ahold of me thanks to my sorry phone service, she went ahead and had them put synthetic in it. Cost difference- well, it took a $30 oil change to $55. Fat crooks. I hate a liar..
Most of the employees at Wal-Mart are following an instruction manual, just doing what they were told to do. Blame Wal-Mart itself for writing the manual in such a way that it gyps the customer by default.
I change my own oil. One of the few things you can do to my car without fear of messing anything up. Also, way cheaper.
Had family get back in the country and have been stuck in Chicago. The only flight they can get is to KC. So we are heading out to pick them up and drive them to Tulsa. We both praise sing in the morning so we'll have to hurry back. We're supposed to be getting up to 4in of snow currently. We'll see.
I'm doing most the driving as Nathan worked today in the cold and I only cleaned the church for a few hours. Now to convince him I need a froofroo coffee to stay awake. :D

When it comes to Rusty and the 'vette, sometimes the Canyon, I change our own. But the newer stuff I hesitate to mess with much, and since Walmart's bulk oil change is only $27-ish, I can't change it myself any cheaper. Add in the facts that 1) it didn't get above freezing here today,2) it takes a while for my shop to warm up enough to work in it and 3) I'd have to spend a week cleaning the shop out to where I'd have room to work- well, it just made sense to have it done where Lou works, while she was working. I usually take the car back there, and they know better than to try that on me, but I let my guard down because I didn't feel like going to town. :smirk2:
And tomorrow I go back to work. Boo. :-(
Wonder if it's considered "flooding" the board if I post immediatly following myself, seperated by many hours???
Anyway- could use a spot of prayer. I haven't said anything, but my right leg has been acting up lately. It was like it went to sleep starting thigh high. At first I thought I was sitting in the recliner wrong, but it's started doing the same thing when I was lying in bed last night and seems like it is doing it now, today, with me walking. Kinda a burning sensation, and numbness from thigh to knee....some kinda nerve issue I suspect, but I haven't a clue what caused it...
Praying it gets better, Roscoe. Leg problems are no fun.
After a few bouts of randomly hobbling around because my big toe and the ball of my foot will just hurt and ache and just not be happy, my mom has 'diagnosed' me with gout. Granted gout is usually in overweight, older men and I'm an average weight almost 31 year old female. But granted I did all the things recommended for people with gout and the pain ceased. So who knows......
One of the dogs I'm petsitting for has a crazy, wicked cough going on. To the point I slept on the couch just so I could be near her and hear her. We are all going to the vet tomorrow [on my day off....]. Everyone [animal wise] needs shots and Lexie has GOT to get this cough taken care of.
I don't know if any of y'all watch football. Not sure if I'm gonna catch the game or not, but all I gotta say is Go Pack Go!!!
We got back from Tulsa at 5 this morning, slept 2hrs and went to church. We were in some windy snowing on the way back. I tried to take a picture and video for you guys but the flash only showed the tons of snow flying at the windshield. The roads were covered in KS so we used the grass edges of the road for reference. The snow was so dry that it wasn't slick. Fun road trip with my honey. :) it did add 45 min to our 4hr drive but what'd'ya do.
I slept today after church for a few hours but really I just want coffee. Too late now though.
I love days like today! Hadn't spoken to my pastor since Tuesday when we had watch night service and he told me to preach Sunday morning. I felt strongly God gave me the message "A God of New Beginnings" using 2 Corinthians 5:17 as my secondary text. I preached it this morning but left the pulpit feeling God wasn't finished.
After service my pastor walked by patted my shoulder whispered in my ear and said "that was God and you will understand tonight". Tonight when I turned the service over to him he preached the message God had given him early in the week "A New Beginning!" secondary verse 2 Corinthians 5:17. God moved!
Finally, FINALLY it really smells like winter out there!
The forecast called for rain yesterday, followed by freezing tonight and everyone was afraid there would be ice on the roads. I just checked and the road is bone-dry. So much for having fun driving to work. I'll be careful all the way in, but I'm severely disappointed.
I have finally sorted through all the 270 or so CDs I picked up on my recent vacation. Now to rip the ones I like to computer and dump the ones I don't like on a local thrift store.
But first... now to go to work. *sigh* Work gets in the way of a lot of stuff, y'know?
Okay, whichever one of you Yankees left the door open- close it! It was 11 degrees at my house this morning with a brisk wind making it feel, according to the weather service, -1. According to me- just too cold. This is SO not my time of year. I nearly never got my truck to start, then had to stop and gas it up, which meant standing in the cold pumping gas. Times like this I miss the old days of fullservice.
Talked with a friend last night, who diagnosed my leg issue as a Sciatic Nerve issue. He said his went away eventually after he quit law enforcement. According to his doctor, it was caused by 1) standing on your feet all the time and 2) carrying extra weight, i.e duty belt, on the waist. I'm so toast. I can't quit law enforcement, and the duty belt, which weighs between 15 and 30 lbs is part and parcel of that. :sadbounce:
Praying, Bobby! btw, I quoted you on air this morning about the 'stinkin Yankees' weather remark, so if anyone calls you about it, I .. err, look, a bunny!

Bro. Bobby in this one area I must disagree with my brother in Christ. I prefer winter over summer. I dislike being either too hot or too cold, but in the winter you can keep adding layers of insulation. In the summer you can only go so far the other way without being immodest... or getting a ticket for indecent exposure. :noo:
Now if I can only remember where I put those three extra coats.

You keep the cold. I'll keep the 70 degree weather. Deal?
Hi Newsman! :hi:
It's nearly -30* right now so I have no sympathy for you, Roscoe. :P. You guys used up all the warm air.
Wear some long underwear and a decent pair of mukluks and you'll be plenty warm. LOL
Stinkin' southerners. :D :P
Actually, I feel for everyone. I hate the cold. I'll take hot over cold any day. The other day when it was -10 and Nathan was working outside, I asked him if he was freezing and he said no because he dressed appropriately. I think it must be all his muscle helping because I have to wear an entire house to be warm in that temp! :biglaugh:
Posted a prayer request over in our prayer request thread, I'd appreciate it if y'all would go read it and keep it in prayer today and this week. Especially though keep Elona in prayer! Also, keep me in prayer that I have wisdom in handling somethings.
I'll take my 100 degrees over this cold mess ANY day. I miss the sun, and the heat!!!!!!!! :cry2:

Indeed.
After another sleepless night, sweet little Lexi has been diagnosed by the vet with heart disease. She started 2 new meds and had an injection this morning and now she's snoozing away and her coughing has thus far ceased. Poor girl. And poor Ms Gregory. We just lost Cedes in November......
My roommate questioned me yesterday if I was ever actually moving in. lol. School starts in 1.5 weeks. I'm excited. Now to watch the Duggers and hopefully nap.

MY-it is not. Usually old age or birth defect. Weight can occasionally be a facter but not as often as seen in humans.
Last time I checked the temp we are sitting around 3 with a windchill of -15. I hope my car will start in the am!
Morning. :hi: Another round of Yankee temperatures....5 degrees here. I don't even want to know the windchill. :sadbounce: I am SO ready for my spring/summer.
It was 17* here this morning. They say it's straining the power grid. We've been using our wood stove though.
A girl I work [who lives close by] is coming over here to take a shower. Her pipes are frozen. Quite a few people I know having issues with cars, pipes, overworked heat pumps, etc with the cold snap here. I'm very thankful that we currently only have the cold. I have friends and family in the midwest area under feet of snow.

Today is the kind of day you start thinking maybe you should have stayed in bed. Not that it was a hectic day, or a strenuous day or a very hard day... but it wasn't a very productive day. Furnace line 2 wouldn't come on line because the nitrogen was frozen in the pipes. Furnace line 1 kept going down because the coolant system's water return was frozen in the pipe.
What puzzles me is before this company moved to Tennessee, it used to operate in Michigan. The furnace they are using now is the same one they used there, and Michigan gets a lot colder than Tennessee ever got. If they were running fine in Michigan, why is a little cold weather - not even down to 0 F - a problem in Tennessee?

Yeah, I know. I think someone got something backward. Maybe it was the methanol that froze. Nitrogen is a gas at a normal atmospheric pressure and at room temperature. But they said nitrogen, and they (theoretically at least) know more about it than I, and I don't get paid less if they are wrong so I just went along with it.
In local news, I woke up more than an hour before the alarm clock was set to go off, with no idea why I was awake. Then it hit me - I forgot to start the washing machine! I had not a single clean work shirt. But I have just enough time to get a load washed, get a shirt and pants dry and get dressed before work.
I lost a good hour of sleep and it wasn't exactly a healing or any sort of major miracle, but thank you Lord.

Thrilled for 30 degrees today.
Went to church to make sure nothing froze up, all's well. Cleaned off the walk.
At least we didn't get a ton of snow, we had mostly rain.

Helped with food pantry and church tonight. Thankful God gives us strength when we need it because between the two was a bad afternoon I was miserable.
Mel misses her phone too.
Dont know when I'm gonna get one. I'm looking into the straight talk galaxyS .
6 people sharing a 3 bdrm mobile home, freezing cold, and 5 of those sharing one bathroom is not exactly the best situation.
At least I don't share a bedroom with anyone...but they say with how badly I talk and yell, NO ONE will share a room with me, so I don't have to worry about that. ;)
Six people there, and five of them share one bathroom? Where does the other one go?
I used to pick up some church bus kids who lived in a house that had 16 people - and one bathroom. I never asked to use the restroom there. Ever. Talk about scheduling conflicts... One person with an unscheduled case of the squirts could cause massive kidney failure.
She has her own bathroom. In her own room. With her own king sized bed.
She owns the whole house, so she is entitled to her own stuff and doesn't have to share with the rest of us. Lol
Donna and Kendall have a double bed in their room, and their daughter Jessica sleeps on a twin bed in their room. It's cramped but works. I sleep in Aaron's room on a twin bed. Room to myself. And Aaron sleeps next door at his uncles house. He was sleeping in the camper but it got too cold. But he lives here during the day...he just sleeps there.
Oh...the "she" who I mentioned is Grandma...she is the elder here and gets the special treatment. I'm sure y'all can relate. She is awesome, another one of my adopted "Granny"s
Hi, Mel! :waving:
And hi, all. Slightly disappointed. We had a pretty good ice situation yesterday evening and the roads were slick as snot, so we cancelled church. This morning, I get up to make a token attempt at going to work, just so I can say I tried, and had every intention of returning to my nice warm bed. Unfortunantely, the rain came in sometime after midnight and melted my ice, so I succeeded in making it to work. Bah. I was already plotting my three day weekend. :pound:
It's raining here, too. But in the upper 30s so no ice.
Today not only was I threatened by text, but it COULD reveal even more issues from the aggressor. :sadbounce: "I'm going to the ladies room. If you fight, I will kill you."
This from our own dear Mini. While it is dismaying to be threatened by such a good friend-WHY IN THE BLAZES IS HE GOING TO THE LADIES' ROOM?!?! I was speechless. Nearly.

Also, I am increasingly annoyed at terrible sentence structure. Have people forgotten what punctuation is?
But alas, I am also so guilty of terrible grammar and the like. I don't even think twice about the mixing up of homonyms in others' posts. Now, it gets to me when people run sentences on w/o punctuation. Sometimes, I have to try and figure out what they are talking about, and wonder if they speak that in ignorantly in person? I wonder if I do?

Well, I am going to take one thing as a good report! The nurse and doctor both said I am a walking miracle in that I can get out of bed and have coherent conversation with the regimen of medicine I am on. One said I have a strong will power and me and the doctor both said it was all GOD.
They are trying to get me into UVA or Duke to see if there is anything they have to offer. She said other wise I have a genetic time bomb that has gone off and we are having to sit back and let the fire burn itself out. They have no clue how long it could take.
I still know a GOD who heals though and when HE says it's over it's OVER!! Trusting HIM!!!
Just sent my boss the mandatory medical update email. I get so tired of sending them with zero response. Even an acknowledgement he received it would make it a little easier to write.

We don't leave our water outside. Lol
Profound, I know. :P
You do have to water your dog several times a day but dogs need attention anyway. The winter is especially dry so they do need plenty of water. Also, northerners have to watch their pets' paws for cold weather wear and tear, especially if they get walked on salted ground. We had a collie/ golden retriever mix growing up who was 80? lbs. She was an outside dog until she got old. We would let her sleep in the basement if it got super cold or the wind blew directly in her doghouse like during storms.
I have to leave the water outside. The dog won't come inside. A couple of baths and he refuses to come indoors anymore... can't imagine why. :hypocrite:
I'm just telling you what Northerners do. There is no breaking the ice for fresh water, it just freezes to a solid block by mid morning. We used a stainless steel bowl so that we could just run water on the bottom to release the ice block. That's annoying so we give them water and don't leave it out. The water doesn't stay out, the dogs DO. lol Your temps aren't cold enough to need to bring them indoors, are they? Just putting out fresh water a few times a day is fine. Heather could probably tell you how much water your particular dog needs.
You're not going to have that cold of temps long enough to worry about anything long term, right?
What do you think the dogs in Alaska do that are out 24/7 in 0* below temps? :)
They have bowls that you can plug in to keep it from freezing. You could also wrap a heat strip around the bowl & plug it in... if they still make those.
I've been wondering about that actually. What do wildlife up in frozen lands do? Do Alaskan wolves just eat snow?
Idk what wolves do. I was watching a show on people who live in the Yukon (called Yukon Men) which is Alaska and Canada. The dogs hung out like it was a spring day... Lol they watered them periodically.
Your Attention PLEASE!!!!

The following doesn't mean anything to most people, but I'm happy about it and must enthuse for a bit ---
My Sandisk Extreme flash drives came today! :D :D
The speed of a flash drive is mostly based on the controller chip it has - some have really cheap controllers and are impossibly slow. These SD Extreme flash drives have single NAND controllers, the same thing they use in solid state hard drives. Basically these are SSD on a stick.
As I run whole computer operating systems from a flash drive, this is very important to me and I am very happy right now.
The sun is out again! No ice, no rain- I now understand how Noah must've felt on the first pretty day after the flood. Gonna take ole Rusty for a cruise I'm thinking...
It's pouring down rain here...I was sick all night long, throwing up, kept the entire house awake cause of our current cramped living situation, and to top it off, I just fell off the bed. :smirk2:
This bed I'm sleeping on is much higher than I'm used to. When I sit flat on my backside on the bed, my feet dangle a foot off the floor...well I woke up, and I'm sitting on the bed, and I dozed off again and fell forward off the bed. Luckily I landed on my feet, and no my face, but my heart is still racing. Ugh.
What a dummy.
I should just crawl back under the cover and not come out till Tomorrow with a start like this. :smirk2:

our pipes that froze were above ground and used for water faucets in the yard. We had them insulated but not enough for extended teens & twenties temps.

I order a bowl: white rice, no beans (although the black beans are good), steak, pico, corn salsa and lettuce.
The quacamole is amazing.
I've also gotten the tacos (hard or soft, corn or flour). With above said items.
The red sauce is extremely hot. It will give you heartburn.
Never tried the other meats.
Back at work. Fixing to start on my taxes for the year...
Some kind of guard YOU are, doing taxes while you're supposed to be on duty. Tsk tsk. :nono:

I'm not announcing it on FB yet, pending notification of some of the Youth in Pascagoula, but I have decided to move to Tallahassee.
The situation with my parents is out of control, and since being here less than two weeks, I've landed a job, got a car, and a place to live with people who actually WANT me around.
So yeah. Headed back to MS this week to pack, say goodbye, and get out of there.
But I discovered that Tallahassee has a few Chipolte places, and I wanted an idea of what to get before I go try it. It may be a few weeks from now, but I WILL try that place, just cause of Jenns rave reviews. :fork:
Bobby must have a really complicated tax setup. I pestered him repeatedly via text message and he has yet to return fire reply.
Yay Mel!!!!!
I spent 1 night at my apartment on Thursday and I've since been back at housesitting. Sadly I feel as though Lexi is not going to make it much longer. She is currently in kidney failure and has to be take daily to the animal hospital for fluids. We just lost Cedes late fall. My heart goes out to Ms Gregory......
School starts this Thursday. Can't decide if I want to do a happy dance or vomit from being so nervous. I'll let you guys know what happens. lol.

And Mel, that's awesome! Seems like, at least on the surface, God is really moving in this, since you've landed a job and a car already. And I'm assuming they have a good church?
Happy for ya Mel
Yep. Good church. Small but they have had the same pastor for 25 years and I k ow their family well. My family (cousins and inlaw-cousins) have been attending this church for longer than that...this was my summer church growing up when I came over here in the summer...so I know everyone and have friends and family here already.
We do webcast every service... So y'all are welcome to check it out for yourself...I sit on the right side halfway back. :)

Its been a fun day so far. Lesson this morning was comparing duck hunting to reaching the lost with the gospel message... courtesy of Ducky Dynasty putting ideas into the preacher's head. Also got to check out a new restaurant after service. Half the group I went with got the taco salad. :fork:
Found out on the way to the restaurant that our church sign got defaced this week. The elders had put on the sign "Marriage One Man One Woman God". Someone went through and stole 2 letters off the sign, completely changing the message. I'll let you guess which two letters. :o
Tia: As a former chatroom moderator I can make a pretty good guess which letters. Trolls are trolls, irl or in chat.
MelodyB: Your camera guy never pans the audience so I never did see you. The singers are pretty good though. If y'all ever want to make an album I'll do the multi-channel recording for you. My audio interface can do 8 channels, but I can get one that can handle multi-in from the drums too.
Was having some discussion on how could you put that message on the sign in such a way that it couldn't be so easily changed. If you put "One Man One Woman" they can change it to "One Man One Man". If you put "One Male One Female" they can change it to "One Male One Male". Then my mom pointed out that if you try "One Man One Lady" they can still change it to "One Man One Lad".
:o
Yeah... *sigh* trolls are trolls, the world over. Best thing to do is hide in the bushes with a bb gun.
Er... I didn't say that, you didn't read that, carry on. :hypocrite:

I wouldn't put that past my elders
We could eliminate some of it if we had a locking glass front on the church sign but the sign is an older one.
Mel, that is phenominal news! I'm So So happy things are coming together for you. Thank you for sharing! Makes my day. I want every last one of us to make it in this life!

Once a cop, always a cop. :P Telling on myself- a few years back, we had a street in our town that we had speeding issues on. City council had the street department install two stop signs, and the police department was told to really "work" those signs. I assigned one of my guys to basically sit on that sign to stop anyone who ran it....an hour later, I'm cruising down that street, lost in thought, when my phone rings..."Hey, Sarge? If you really want me to enforce this new stop sign, YOU are gonna have to stop at both of them." Yep- I'd cruised through both stop signs at 35 mph, without even noticing- in a fully marked police car. :laughhard:

Morning all. Back at work.. :hi:
I'm not crazy about Jamaican music. Lol.
What's "ganga?"
I can't decide if I want coffe or tea this morning. Feeling a bit dehydrated so maybe just water. I would like to go back to bed.
I'm making meals an desserts for while we are at BOTT. I have Lasagna and peach cobbler done. Still have to make
beef stew concentrated,
butternut soup,
Tuscan Chicken,
chicken taco filling,
apple pie,
snicker doodles,
raw cheesecake,
loaf of bread and
2 kinds of rolls.
The lovely couple looking after our kids don't realize how much a 15yr old boy eats. Lol
If you need me, I'll be in the kitchen. LOL
My poor, sweet, sassy pants Lexi passed over the rainbow bridge yesterday. That's how my Monday started. Ended fairly well though with a new laptop since mine decided to give up the ghost. Today I'm off work. Going to buy the rest of my books, buy and construct a desk for my room, and grocery shop. Hopefully will find time to also do my taxes today.
I'm at work but not ready to be out of bed.
I like Jamaican music. And reggae. Lol
I love pretty much everything except heavy metal (I mean really why kill your voice screaming) and rap. I can't sing to rap.
I keep trying to give heavy metal Christian a chance, but I never can find one that I like. I'm still trying though... I had the same problem with Christian rap until I found a few albums just last year that I liked.
Screamo music creeps me out. It sounds so hateful, I do not get it at all, I don't care what the words say, it basically sounds like what maybe satan would sound like. LOL
I have a few Christian rap artists I like. But it's kind of half rap half singing. I can get with that!

A horrible misspelling of "ganja" or that herb you love to grow.
And I hate rap of any type. And while I like some "rock" gospel- Kutless, Petra, some old Degarmo and Key.-most of the screaming mess I don't like. I do love screaming guitars though. My favorite worldly music when I was out was stuff like Ac/Dc, Def Leppard, and ZZtop.
And now everyone that knows me and my love for "Whiskey Soaked country gospel" can pick their jaw off the floor. :P

Morning, all. One day closer to the weekend.....
Mel... What did your parents have to say?
Not much.
Basically asking me when I was leaving. When I said Monday, dad said "good! You can help us pack and move!" I said "NOPE. I'm packing MY STUFF. And I barely have enough time to do that...y'all don't want my help anymore remember? And I don't do anything but be lazy anyway...according to you, so I can't help you. Sorry".
That was the end of that. I'm not dealing with it. They wanna say I have been lazy and didn't help them, then that's exactly what I'll do.
They got a one bedroom apt BEFORE I made my decision to leave. They told my cousins NOT to allow me to come back...so ok, you wanna play that game...deal me in. :smirk2:
Monday Monday Monday....I get out of this hole on MONDAY.
Is it Monday yet?!
/me hugs Mel
Wow. Um... Well... :o
On the other hand, I remind myself that I don't know her parents, so I don't know... They might very well warrant such a reaction.
*Isaac shuts up, sits on his hands and awaits further developments.

Well if you are getting the headaches during sleep - wouldn't it make sense for them to monitor you DURING sleep to see if they can figure out why?
Nope, cause the study has nothing to do with the headaches. It's checking to see if I need a CPAP mainly just cause I'm a big guy. I don't snore or have many of the other symptoms of sleep apnea. This is the third neurologist determined to diagnose me with sleep apnea and get me on a CPAP machine. They need me to sleep for at least 1 hour uninterrupted to get a decent result which isn't going to happen while the headaches are happening. It's just goofy to me.
So don't go!
Under the insurance I have right now I have no choice. If the doctor sets it up and you don't go they will drop you from the program. So I have to go. Seems like a waste of my time and their money though.
Well maybe they'll find something. You never know! :)

And with said parents and situation being what they are..... I'm thinking it was probably the only effective way of dealing with it.) :smirk2:
Taco - that does seem weird, but.... maybe God will use it to somehow help you find some answers. We can hope/pray. :)
:beret:
Not only does that seem weird, but you all seem weird.
Just spent the last few minutes texting another lady from my work who was verbally attacked by the boss today. I am asking y'all to pray a very specific prayer. That GOD will either save this man or shut his mouth. If GOD can shut the mouths of lions he can cause this mans mouth to be shut every time that anger rises up in him. Also, pray my wife and I find new jobs soon.
Sometime d-d-during the night the t-t-t-t-temperature dropped a lot. I woke up shivering. Not my favorite way to start the day. If it's cold, let it be cold. If it's warm, let it be warm. But please don't change the game that much in the middle of the night.
:hi: At work. Gotta go to a funeral for a coworkers mom.....I hate things like that, but I remind myself it's for him. Then- on to the regularly scheduled, much anticipated weekend!

First day of school. My first class got canceled so I'm sitting in the student center hanging out until my next class. I love my new laptop but hate Windows 8. Anyone use it and have an suggestions to not hate it so much?

HeatherB: The main problem with Win8 is it tries to be a tablet on any machine. Microsoft is looking ahead to the day when everyone has a touchscreen, but in this case they looked too far too fast.
Try googling "things to do with Windows 8" for some good lists of things that will make Win8 more tolerable for people who stay on the desktop most of the time.
Or perhaps you could go into detail about what exactly you don't like about Win8? It's hard to make recommendations without knowing what to make recommendations about.
After sitting down with someone at school today who helped me walk through to get to just what I want to do with my laptop, it is tolerable and I'm kinda getting the hang of it.
Have finally applied to another job. 45 minutes one way in my beast of a car 3-4 days a week is not good. I'm going through roughly 110 bucks per week just in gas.
Mel-I am still so excited for you!!!
Made it through the day, even though my leg started giving me problems again. Got my W2 printed off and the taxes done, with the exception of my state tax- they haven't released the module for that yet, but are supposed to tomorrow. Played on the ham radio a bit, came in and played two games of Skip-Bo with Lou....now I'm vegging.
Did Lou win?
:beret:
Thats what I was wondering.
I went to the storage place today and got all MY stuff out of there. Wow. I didnt know fat girls could climb over and under and thru so much stuff in such tight spaces...but I did it. LOL
Went in to talk to the manager who I had been witnessing to, to tell her goodbye and all, and she gave me a phone! Yay! Its a small square LG touchscreen Andriod prepaid phone. Uses net10. So Im gonna get a $50 unlimited card and see how it works for me. Until I get a new Iphone, this will have to do. At least its touchscreen and has apps. :)
Heather...ME TOO!

MelodyB: Cool! He just had one lying around?
In local news: I just got the headphones I ordered. Noise canceling headphones, a low-end brand, for the church drummer. Should be a better solution than the guitar amp we were using for monitor. My australian shepherd mix still has a disturbing amount of energy, but he's learning not to jump up on people now. I'm out of bread, so tomorrow I'll be baking. I finally got the last of these CDs ripped to computer last night. And the music director at church listened to that Scott Krippayne song "Bible Story" and approved it for singing at church. :D
Now here's something that could make a grown cop cry.

:waving:
Melbs has a phone!??!
Working. Glad it's Friday.
Off to Tyler after work for the weekend!
:hi:
Good morning thus far...Chey and I went and got donuts, I'm driving Rusty, and I'm at the library. Yep- good day.
Yes Isaac, SHE had one lying around...it was one she had for her teenage son last year, and he upgraded to a phone with a plan, so she had the prepaid one and said they didnt need it, so I could have it.
Jenn...yep..but no minutes on it yet, maybe today, and dont worry....POST HASTE! :demand:
In sharing news, I had a bad night, bad dreams and didnt sleep much at all. I need to pack my room today. I currently have a load of clothes in the washer and the dryer, and about 3 more to do before I can pack all clean clothes. I guess Ill have to break down and wash out my crock pot so I can take it with me. It was dirty with molded stinky chicken in it when I got back, and mom and dad STILL didnt clean it out for another two days...now its been sitting in the sink, and no one has cleaned the kitchen at all since Ive been home either. So I guess if I am to take it with me, Ill have to wash it myself.
They say Im lazy and dont do anything...why hasnt the kitchen been cleaned since I got here...it was a mess when I walked in, so who knows how long it s been that way. Anyway, I have other stuff in there I need to make sure is clean so I can pack it too. My travel cups and stuff, some gadgets, my Pampered chef stuff, and of course my crockpot.
Im making another scarf too.
I love these scarves! I just finished it! I think Im gonna go give it to my friend at the storage place for her kindness in giving me a phone.
Her name is Melanie. Easy to remember. :)
So, who is going to take care of your parents? Do they think they can handle it on their own?
Driving to Tyler. It's boring.
And there is too much traffic to use my cruise. Lame.
Are you on interstate? :eyebrow:
On I-20 yea lol
If you're posting on the forum while driving, I sure am glad I'm safe here at home!
Waitaminute... Pampered Chef stuff? Crock pot? Say, Melody ole pal, you wouldn't by any chance be inclined to sell any of that stuff would ya? :teeth:
I live in DFW. You learn to type while driving. Lol
Besides I'm only going 75-80. Ha.
Yes, they live in a dream word of flowers and rainbows and they think that magically they will be able to take care of themselves when they were not able to before.
And no,not intrested in selling or getting rid of any of my cooking stuff...thats
Why it's going with me!
doctor thinks I have gout. no fractures. waiting on bloodwork to confirm. currently in a booty. should be fun considering its my weekend to work and it's snowing....
Gout is awful. My hubby has problems with it.
Mel's parents = Insane. Truly. Certifiably. Insane.
Heather, here's hoping your doctor can give you some help!
Sandra, I have Alex's Euros ready to send out. Took me long enough.
Anybody heard from Taco or Elona today?
:beret:
I've had a craving for tacos...and Mexican food in general...but no updates or chats with the Taco or Clown of which you speak.
This DNA thing on Ancestory.com is nothing short of amazing.
I am 86% British and Irish.
11% Native American
2% Western Asian
1%... and get this. I did not expect this one. Mali, West African. LOL
Unfortunately "Native American covers everthing from Canada to S.America. So that is no help. Nothing from Spain so I guess, contrary to what I've been told, I am not Mexican. I pretty much expected for it to be some kind of Hispanic.
It is super fun to see it layed out and people with close DNA suggessted. Basically, I'm a mutt like everyone else, but now I know what kind... mostly... LOL
Quieter than Inner Sanctum around here today...
In local news I just finished with all that music I brought home from my vacation trip. Weeeee!
Chey got me up early, for a weekend anyway- 7 am. I was a grump, but got up and cleaned the house up a bit, then went to town and picked up fixin's for dinner. Gonna make chopped steak in mushroom gravy, tators, corn and rolls, with buttermilk pie for dessert. Oh, and I picked up some curtains we wanted for the dining room- the red and white checkered goes well with the new paint.
We just got home from running around town.
Bobby I'm sending you something you should handle with extreme caution. No, it's not a bomb... it's an mp3 snapshot of all the music stuff I got from the vacation trip. But you will surely get the sonic equivalent of burnt fingers poking around in it. Sending it because you reported your wife was interested in it. All kinds of music, all christian, but some styles I didn't even know existed in christian music. Keep the volume on low until you know what is in a folder.
Hi.
Lo.

Well...CheeseHead should be concerned. I just talked to someone in Indiana for the first time on the radio....now that my voice has invaded the airwaves of his state, he should wonder how long before I show up in person...
We should have a meet-up at his place. We could call it the goose poop meet-up.
He'd put everyone to work...
He might try to. I'm sure I can be more lazy than he can be insistent. Never underestimate my laziness.

1st dose of medicine and the swelling my foot has started to go down slightly. I have narrow feet and kinda delicate looking toes, but yesterday my big toe looked like a super plump polish sausage!! The doctor indicated that if we can nip it in the bud early [and with me being the age I am] that this could seriously be a fluke and I may never have another flair up. Heres to prayer and optimism!!!
Up and heading to church shortly. Then my Sunday will consist of homework. I fell asleep with one of my textbooks in the bed with me last night. Welcome to college.
Back at work. No church for me tonight because it is the annual "Right to Life" event at the capitol. Probably have a few thousand "friends" here....my back's hurting, and I'm in a generally foul mood. And I'm hungry. And I can't stop sneezing. And the morons at the State of Arkansas still haven't released their tax module to TaxAct, so I STILL can't submit my tax return. Morons.
I didn't make it to church this morning. Sore from shoveling snow last night and run down from staying up till 2:30 AM. Choose to go back to sleep rather than get up and get moving. Already been informed that service tonight has been canceled.
Had to get a new microwave this weekend cause the circuit board in my old one got fried. Old one died while I was trying to do popcorn. :sadbounce:
Made it about halfway through worship and had to leave church. I was warned my meds would make me nauseous and they do. However have 1/3 of my homework for the day done including a 9 out of 10 on my quiz. Gonna try to make it to a night service tonight maybe....

no church services is making for a rather boring Sunday :sadbounce:
Well...we had church, but I worked late. Given the distance I drive, I didn't get home in time to go....:sadbounce:
I didn't make it to evening service either. But I did watch/listen to it online. I think I enjoyed my foot not hurting a bit to much before because boy is it hurting now. Good thing is the swelling has gone down enough that I can bend my toe again but the ball of my foot is much MUCH more sore...
Now onto more homework reading and to work tomorrow.
sigh

At any rate, you are too far north for me to torment. Some other time perhaps......maybe a Branson meetup? We could drag ole Mini-ture and fam along....
I thought you didn't have a very good opinion of Branson. Or was that somebody else I'm thinking of that didn't like Branson very much?
This is the windiest road ever. Going through Ouachita national forest. We dilly daddle a bit over the TX border and back, soon.

5hrs in and we have run out of music to listen to and ther hasn't been a decent radio station for hours.
Arkansas is one state I'll stay out of. Not a fan of the interstate around West Memphis
Run out of music? How in the world can you run out of music? Should I send you a copy of my collection for your next trip? It can play for somewhere above two weeks, 24 hours a day, before it runs out.
Hey Melodya...my brother and my Aunt Linda will be at BOTT. If you see a tall (like Nathan) skinny man dancing around, chances are that's him. Y'all need to meet and get a picture for me! And you would LOVE my Aunt Linda...remember she JUST lost her husband...she could use a new friend, and a few hugs. I miss her already.
