there is definately a BIG difference in when a girl says so and when a guy says so... but why?

Because when a girl says so, she knows where I am coming from and she is just trying to reassure me and she may actually think there is good in me, BUT when a GUY shows that kind of thing, he may think so cause he LIKES me.

BIG DIFFERENCE.

You know, the trip to Oklahoma did a lot of good for me, cuz there were these two guys that did worlds of good for my self-esteem just cuz they greeted me as a lady as soon as I walked out of the airport, and carried my bags and opened doors and didn't have this strong shield/guard up around me (the "*gasp* she thinks I'm INTERESTED, so I have to ignore her" thing that some guys have going on when you're nice to them).  I didn't think either one of them "liked" me, but I knew that they thought I was "good enough."  You oughta meet them someday.  I had already met John before.  If anyone knows how to make a lady feel "good enough," it is him.  He just has a way of making you feel like you're valuable.

Actually, all the guys I met on that trip were awesome.  It was an experience that made me feel comfortable with who I was and how I acted and reacted.  I was REAL.  I was ME.  I was loved in spite of myself...  maybe even BECAUSE of myself.

I plan on meeting those guys one day.

I love to be around guys like that. It hasnt been that often though, but there have been a few.

Ya know... GP guys rock! For reals. I'd have to say that I came away from both of the GP meetups feeling exactly the way you described. Friends that make you feel valued are gifts from God.

Thinking about what RB said, I really hated it when I wasn't looking. I just wanted to be friends with a couple of guys. Someone to go out with, etc. Besides, being raised with all boys around, I find it easier to talk to guys.  

Just when you think you two are comfortable together, not making any demands or anything, he says, "I don't want to get married, if that's what you're thinking."

In both cases, I looked shocked and said, "I don't want to marry YOU, either. Why would you bring THAT up?"  It shut them up, but it was like a slap in the face.  One I never went out with again because I just didn't feel comfortable with him anymore. The other hung on for awhile but faded away, too.
