Wait and see all you wish. I will be over here on my perch, curled up taking a nap.

I don't know if I am apathetic or just indolent, but I sure do enjoy my life.

Hmmm.
The fun our late brother Newsman would have with this thread title....
Sure do miss him and his investigations.

I slept in today. Last night I put together a thought for church tomorrow- we will see if God lets me deliver it or does what He has done nearly every service recently and change things.
I did get to drive Rusty a bit, and met up with a close friend who had me drive his gorgeous C6 Corvette. Someday- I shall own one of them too... lol.

We've been moving some of my chicken pens to another spot in the yard. I think it will work much better.

My dog is unhappy and there's nothing I can do.

During the storm a week ago, a tree blew down and fell on his 280ft line. I can't remove the tree so the dog is tied to a small tree out front. Much less exciting than a line he can trot up and down and see all the neighborhood from.

Urgh. Coffee. I need a large infusion.  Went to bed early last night- like 830ish. Woke up at 230, then back to sleep until this morning. I'm really not a fan of this whole work thing, but the alternative is starving and homeless and I KNOW I'd like that less. Thus, here I be.

@Work.

Once I start eating Cream Cheese & Chive crackers.. I can't stop. They are SOOO good. Jeremy bought some for snacks for work, and I swiped two little packages this morning (b/c they started off as only MY faves, not his anyway LOL). Yum. The rest of his box is in danger.

I've been thoroughly enjoying wearing sweaters this week without almost getting frostbite still. Saturday was COLD! I had two hoods pulled up over my head plus ear warmers, and of course a hoodie plus a coat (that's the 2 hoods). It was warm, but my hands had to stay in pockets! haha.

This daylight savings time is something I thoroughly enjoy for 90% of the day. My only complaint is that the sun sets so early, but.. I've been early/on time to work both days this week, and I'm not overly tired. The newness eventually wears off, but I'll enjoy it while I can. :)

I wish it would stay on daylight savings time. I don't like it getting dark so early.

Me either. It was dark at 5:46 yesterday ugh the WORST.

Gloomy, cloudy and rainy here today. Isn't helping either.

:hi: Would appreciate prayers. Short story is we've been under attack...spiritual, mental, and now, Lou's job is eliminating her position it seems and she will have to take a $1.69/ hour pay cut. Lots and lots of stress. I know where it is coming from and why, and our only path is to double down on prayer and trust God.
The devil is mad. Without going into details, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have been placed in a more prominent role in our church. I am touched, honored, and scared slap to death on where it appears to be leading.
I've mentioned the stress recently- as soon as I told God, "I'll do whatever as long as I am in Your will"
it intensified. Last week, every night was nightmares. Woke up feeling evil in the room one night. I got up and took control of it and kicked it out of the house in Jesus name, went back to bed.
I know that this is an attempt, along with the mental attacks, to cause me to back away. But I told God the other day, "I said I would do what You wanted. I'm NOT backing down. You have to put a stop to these attacks so I can." I am standing on His word...but if you could lift us up in prayer I would really appreciate it.

Finished church books last night so I'm good until the next bank statement hits in say.. a couple of days, haha.

Eating a bologna sandwich for lunch. Every now and then I crave these. They are literally my childhood, haha. My brother would make me one every single day of summer break. Loved it.

Howdy y'all.

Wednesday is my day off.

Went to church to meet a few others and clean out the freezers and refrigerators that didn't have any power for half of last week.

I thought I was going to make bread today, but it's not rising. No idea why.

We were without power for eight days, so I have a lot of cooking to do to build up Grandma's little meals in the freezer again. The cost of food isn't a whole lot, but having to do all that cooking again is... annoying.

That is all.

Bah. At work on a dreary day. A fellow officer is out and I'm handling one of her offender's cases for her after he was stupid and did stupid things last night. I have stepped away from Facebook for a bit and realize now how addicted one can get to that place. Usually in my down time, I scroll through there. I've not today, since I deactivated my account, but I keep starting to do so before I remember that. Definitely a habit...

May be some truth in that. Of course, it could be a coincidence , and perhaps I should use Almighty Mod Powers and change the title to : "Lynx and Jenn have both gone a'courting (separately) in sharing 5 hundred and 14."  :hypocrite:  :hypocrite:

Morning all. It is rainy. As in we got over 5 inches of rain last night, and it has shut down my system. And I have to go do home visits today- in the rain. This mess needs to go.

haha whatever. Not courting Lynx.

My guy David lives where I live. Just goes to a friends church in Dallas.
He's 41. He played piano for me in a bff's wedding in September. Our music chemistry is pretty on point.

He hasn't stated any interest but I've met his family (whom he currently lives with).
I met them before my friends wedding though. They all love me he says.

He on a whim asked me to coffee last Saturday then we went back to his house cus he wanted me to sing lol.
Then Tuesday night he had friends from Oklahoma in that he wanted me to meet. So he impromptu asked me over. lol

Just make sure he knows how critical it is to correctly spell your name. If he forgets that extra N just one time...

I have pie! :D :D :D

Aunt Diane is activities director at a nursing home, and she holds a yard sale to raise money to get the residents gifts. I am usually very interested in the baked goods table at such yard sales, so I stopped by before w*rk.

I saw four homemade pecan pies and two homemade chocolate chess pies. Bought 'em all. :teeth:

On my way out with my stack of six pies, one of the girls at the front desk asked, "Hey where are those going?!" I replied, "Mostly to my freezer." I got the strong impression somebody else was planning to buy a pie, but didn't think they would all be gone quite that soon.

My only regret is eating a double decker oatmeal creme pie last night. I stopped for gas, and when I stop for gas I always get one of those things. Had I known about the yard sale today, I would have saved my blood sugar tolerance for the much more delicious homemade pies.

Not yet. God willing, we won't see it.
Got up this morning to a house at 68 degrees. Thought I'd been transported to Mini's house. Wound up discovering the batteries in the thermostat were dead.  Changed them out, and now it's back toasty 74.
I put a huge roast on, and now I'm sitting in the recliner trying to decide what to do. I've got a rough outline for tonight, but am supposed to have a visiting preacher, so I may get to be preached to instead.

Dropped here quick too. It was 51 this morning. 41 at noon. Don't know what it is now, but this rain has to quit. I'm totally tired of it. The septic fix worked fine for normal rain, but the floods we've had still render us helpless. It doesn't take as long to drain-as soon as the rain stops, we are good within the hour- but it seems like it never stops.
Spent most of the morning at the church helping fix the travel trailer hookup. We had an evangelist last night- he blew up his truck 15 miles from the church, then our outlet wouldn't work. We got his trailer in and Cody has the truck. He has electricity for now... but lord.
I'm being hospitable and having them out for dinner. Smoked pork loin in a sweet mustard sauce, mashed potatoes, homemade bread, green beans and buttermilk pie. I hope they don't want fancy cause we ain't.

18 here now but feels like 6. I love snow tho.. when I don't have to drive in it. Thankfully the sun and the road crews together did a great job clearing off my interstate, so the only crazy part was my work's driveway. It's always a little sketchy the first day or so after snow/ice b/c no one cleans it off like our old shop guys did. I miss them, haha. I did a little two step getting out of the car as well, but thankfully knew to be careful with my footing. It was slick.

But now I'm here.. I'm eating leftover chili for lunch. Hoping since Jeremy's off today (he took annual), he will cook up some taco soup or something. That sounds deeeeelicious.

Well. I started off my day by being late, as I had forgotten I was scheduled as the early man. Then spent all day trying desperately to catch up. Did a surprise home visit on one of my Max offenders- I couldn't catch him at home, so I took him with me when he came in. Surprise!
Yep- two felony charges later, I have ANOTHER report to do. Lo. Wound up staying late and finishing them, and filling in for a coworker who needed off. I'll get off in an hour and a half...

Dairy free, gluten-free dressing is a challenge when you're used to using bread and "cream of" soups, normally... but little Bobby tasted it and approved. Chel seemed to like it, also.

I'm making it ahead of time since dressing is a lot of work and I get too tired to enjoy the holiday.

Y'all have been quiet today. I've been in court most of the day. About to go to church. Lou is kinda down today, so say a prayer. Monday was her 15th anniversary at Walmart and they confirmed today that her position is cut, and they "don't know if they will be able to offer her fulltime hours". Guys, we need God to move. She needs full time hours for insurance purposes- without her income and health insurance we will be in dire straights.

I am so sorry! That's always rough, no matter how much faith you got!

I have a testimony (that I probably shared back then) that might help boost your faith a little.

Jeremy started out (when we got married) working for his uncle. (Let me start by saying, we LOVE Jeremy's family. We are so thankful that his uncle was able to help him those years by giving him a job. He's helped us in numerous ways. I just firmly believe that working for family is such a precarious situation to be in.) Less than savory hours/pay for what he was having to do. We barely made ends meet the first year or so of marriage. He finally got enough of the pay/hours + family drama, so he applied to all kinds of jobs.

He got interviewed at a portable building company. They decided to go with someone else (who we felt had less experience). One year later, he gets a phone call from the interviewer asking him to come back in for another interview for that same position because that other person just up and quit. He ended up getting hired, and this was a boost in pay plus incredible hours. He was always stressed out at this job, his boss was always on him like a duck on a june bug. I can't remember if he was there one or two years, BUT he was able to have his surgery while he was still there. Before Halloween that year (same as his surgery), he was called into the boss' office at 2 in the afternoon and basically told he was being let go. No warning at all. We were devastated and I (being the financial person in our home) was SCARED. Looking back, I honestly don't think Jeremy would have left the security of that job no matter how awful it had gotten, so I see it somewhat as God helping him out of a bad situation. That company has lost almost ALL of the front house staff he worked with, and looks to be getting ready to fold any day.

Thankfully, my company blesses me with a healthy bonus usually every year around that same time of year. Between that bonus, my regular pay, and his unemployment, everything was fine and we were still able to have a Christmas as well. It was nearing the end of all of those 'extras' that were our buffer, and he still didn't have a job even though he was looking. I was getting nervous again. He FINALLY got a call back from the USPS about a job. He started training in January, and we haven't looked back since! He is making 2-3x what he had been making back at his uncle's job. His hours aren't always great, but he's on track to have amazing benefits/pay for years to come - as long as the USPS can keep its act together.

It felt absolutely scary and dark many times during those years in that story above, but God kept His hand on us the entire time. We weren't hungry, even at our poorest. We had a home, we had a vehicle, we had family, and best of all - we had God - who helped even when it didn't look like He was!

@Work early (been here an hour). Leaving momentarily for Subaru dealership to get my audio unit replaced (their cost) and hopefully NOT have to buy a new tire. It's going super low in tire pressure once a week. I think it's the same one I had repaired in Arkansas. We shall see!

Then it'll be back to work for me.

Thanks, y'all. I told Lou it's going to be alright. God has carried us through times like this before, and He will again. Last major time was several years ago, and it didn't seem we had so much to lose. LOL. I tend to post here a bit quicker than perhaps I ought, because this is my safe place and I know y'all will pray and not judge on anything.
In leadership, you have to be cautious about letting any doubt or fear show, IMHO, because it can quickly infect the church. The LAST thing I want to do is cause someone who is new in their faith to stumble. Thus- y'all get the brunt of my vent/whine/pleadings, and the church gets lesson on faith, trusting Him, and whatever else the Lord provides.:laughhard:
To be honest, while I worry some about the insurance/income, being the house financial person, I am more concerned about my wife. She is the model of Godliness and has been a light to a lot of people- I know, because I've had perfect strangers tell me this at local restaurants- "Your wife is the lady who works at Walmart that always wears skirts. She has been so sweet and helpful to me". And not just once or twice.
She's scared despite my assurance, and hurting because she feels like the company doesn't value her after 15 years and feels like it is an indictment of her work ethic.

Financially- God will provide, I'm not stressed a lot, yet. But pray for Lou's spirit and uplift/encourage her if you can. She is my rock and I need her.

Back at work. Praying for a good day...and that I will be what God wants me to be, not what my spirit wants me to be.

Let me join the testimony...

When we moved, we thought we would pay off everything and have jobs right then and there and live high on the hog, with new jobs and no bills...well, that didn't happen.

I finally got a job 4 months later, barely making above the minimum wage.  It took my highly qualified wife nearly 3 years to get a job. I applied for about 50 different jobs but no luck while working at my job.

I finally gave up,  and a position came open with my wife's company that she thought I would be a fit for.  She talked me into applying, I was offered the job, and started out making double what I made before.

But when things were looking like we were rolling in the dough, she got sick.

Her benefits started and she never missed a paycheck, and once again, God took care of us.  But we went from 100% to about 75% of what we were making.

Heres something else that was "funny".  At the beginning of the year, when both of us were working, I "found" another old truck that I had had my eye on for years.  We were making good money, and had a little extra...no problem right?

Then my wife gets sick.

We still had the same bills...house payment, a couple of car payments, and I had just added this truck payment.  And then, my truck got in an accident.  And what we thought was a terrible day blessed us.  We paid off one vehicle, was able to pay off the truck later, and I will be able to get the truck repaired totally.

There is no way I would have been able to do what all I have done without God providing.  And for that, I thank him!

Honestly, Roscoe..

I remember a while back you had asked for prayer for something big that was coming. Was it her job? Or was it something spiritual that you're using faith to take a step on?

I've often heard that if you're feeling attacked while you're trying to do something forward-moving for God, you must be going the right way! I don't like to give too much credit to the devil, because he can't be everywhere and know everything like God can. So sometimes I choose to believe it's just life that's happening to me so he gets no credit. But God can always take that mess and turn it into your message. :)

BTW - If you listen to podcasts, you MUST follow/listen to The Crucial Conversation. The two guys (Tony & Bryan) are from my home church there in Jonesboro, and Tony is Jeremy's cousin as well. The conversations on those podcasts have been blessing me every week! You can find it pretty much anywhere you get your podcasts already.

They've interviewed some local ministers and saints as well as some 'bigger' names that may be more well known, but honestly - it has truly been a blessing to listen.

No....this is different from the "something big". I'm still not at liberty to discuss that, although I will one day.

And I'm hesitant to say everything is spiritual. Truthfully, her job situation is probably just life, attacking at a most inopportune moment. Although I will say that I could believe that the timing is God's will, perhaps to prepare us for something down the road. There's no doubt in my mind that the devil is mad and is doing what he can against us, but the job thing- yeah, after reflecting, it's possible it is just life.
One of the reasons that it felt like a straight up enemy attack is the timing, as well as the fact that one of Lou's bosses who are playing a part in some of this is a honest to goodness pentagram wearing pagan. They have always been friendly, but as you can imagine there has been tension from time to time.

Well, I wound up taking off most of the day Friday. Took Chey to chase the "Big Boy" Union Pacific's giant steam engine. After we got a few pics, I took her back to school. Today, I spent just chillin'. Went to a lady in my church's 90th birthday party, then went with Bro and Sis Wilson and Lou for dinner. Now I'm relaxing, trying to figure out what to preach tomorrow. I have an idea, just gotta flesh it out.

Some nice guys from Samaritan's Purse are going through our town like a storm, sawing and porting the trees that got knocked over everywhere in the storm. My dad and uncles were glad, as they were not looking forward to cutting up the three trees in Grandma's yard. In their own words, "None of us are as young as we used to be."

Sunday morning. I slept in until Lou woke me....then continued to lay in bed with my Daisy Dog until Lou lured me from bed with fresh cooked fries and burgers. Really intend to do nothing productive until 330, 4ish, at which time I'll head to church.

Fresh cooked fries, mmmm... There's a local hole-in-the-wall diner that makes burgers from ground beef, not preformed patties from the freezer, and makes fries from a big bowl of taters at the end of the prep table. I don't go there often enough.

Now look what you did Bobby! I'm all hungry again, right after lunch.

Morning all. Woke up late, couldn't find my work phone, it's Monday, found that the chicken purchased frozen last night had not been placed in the freezer and was now thawed, so no homemade lasagna for me today..
But- on the bright side, I woke up this morning. The work phone was laying snugly on the shelf under the pulpit where I'd placed it, turned off, last night before preaching; I made it to work on time. And whatever chicken dish Lou cooks today will be meaty as there are three lbs of chicken breasts she has to cook
 Bah.

Our uncle (who is also our pastor) was rushed to the ER by ambulance yesterday afternoon. He has a slew of health issues that are too lengthy to go into, but he had/has sepsis. They were giving him blood transfusions and are going to try to day to figure out where he's bleeding in his intestines. He was not stable enough to do any of that last night still when we left. So please just say a prayer for Rex as you go about your day. I feel like they felt like he was feeling some better before we left, but still a long road.

It's hard because I have so much contact through that platform- from ministers I need to be in touch with, to car enthusiast/for sale ads, and the ever important stalking my offenders because I get all kinds of information there. And, we have the church page there as well....

If you're good at self control, you could do a time limit instead each day for using it? That could be similar to a fast since you're still having to get your flesh under control. Facebook is such a habit!

Where in a moment of overwhelming  stupidity,  my agency decided to take our brand new laptops  we have had for less than a year- and replace  them with  more new laptops.  And, not content with being  stupid about this, they are doing something  with our internet too. So i can do nothing and it appears this is going to be a day long procedure.
Im sure it is so they can block websites or track what we do better...
So far, I  see our governor's  decision  to "streamline agencies " and save money as being a colossal  waste and costing the state money.

Man, Jenn. That's rough. I look at my little church in concern. I've got several elderly and each one has been such a special person for so long- I don't wanna think of losing any of them, they are all my rocks.
In fact, I've got to go to Conway in a bit to check on one who is in the hospital.
That is, after I go send paperwork to a jail to hold one of my boneheaded wayward children from the work family, not the church family. He decided last night was a grand time to load up with another felon, get some meth and a gun and cruise around until invited by the police to an all inclusive resort.
And it's cool outside. Glad Rusty has a heater.

I used to think some people gradually became more crabby as they got older. Now I think I was wrong. I think people just get more tired.

Some people are crabby their whole lives, but hide it behind a smile because it's polite, or because they want people to like them, or just because they don't want to put up with the junk. But the older a person gets, the less energy there is available to maintain the facade. What appears to be a gradual progression of crankiness is really just a gradual erosion of the socially acceptable mask. As we get older, we just can't keep it up any more.

Then there are some elderly people I know who are not crabby. THOSE are the people who have been truly nice people all along.

Kinda makes me think... if I know what people are like when they are wore out, maybe that is the best way to know what they are really like, and what they will be like when they grow old. It also makes me want to pay more attention to what I am like when I am worn to a frazzle.

Doing payroll today so that we can submit it to the bank by deadline tomorrow morning in order to have it posted on Friday. "What do you mean I have to tell you what hours I'll work on Wednesday today? I don't know yet!" LOL.. I'm like.. "We do this for every holiday that falls like this. You just have to project what you really think you'll work tomorrow." I'm trying to remind them to project conservatively, because adjusting paychecks is no fun business. Especially not when you're dealing with the unions.

Made it through the day. Had desires to stay in the recliner, but Lou wanted to go eat. So we set out to do so, only to get the call that one of our church members' health relapsed and was back in the hospital. So instead of a steak and a recliner I had a Chik-Filet sandwich and a hospital waiting room for five hours. Praise God, he pulled through, although he has a temporary Pace maker for now. We left the hospital to discover that I'd apparently ran over what turned out to be a valve stem from someone else's tire, which punched a hole in our tire. I got to figure out where Lincoln hid their spare... We are home now, and I've plugged the tire. I'll remount it tomorrow, and may see about getting it patched, although I've  ran hundreds of thousands of miles with a plugged tire.
Thankfully, I shall be able to sleep in tomorrow...and the next day.

Probably should've added an "s" on the "tire" of that comment.
Just got in a few ago. Left my mother in laws, and had to go to Walmart to pick Lou up. She decided to grab a bit of Black Friday bargains while we were there. While we are checking out, Bro Wilson called.  Our church member from last night took a turn for the worse, and had another heart attack. By the time Bro Wilson and I got there, he had slipped into eternity. Hard to know what to say to a grieving family..
One of the things I could say is at his last service he was able to be with us at, a couple, three weeks ago,
he worshipped for all he could. He ran a lap around the church, in fact, despite his issues. He won his race- no more laps to run. Now it's nearly 2 am, and I can't sleep.

It's cool and windy here too. Better than rain though. Went to visitation for Bro Mcghee, then on to church. Got up clueless for the message, thought I was gonna have to pull an old message out and repreach it, but as I walked to the pulpit, a verse came to me and God said " Read this". I did, then proceeded to use Romans the 8th chapter as my text- "There is no condemnation" . Don't know how it went, but had one in the altar, so I guess it was what God wanted.
Then I came home and ate me a big ole bowl of pinto beans cooked with hamhock. Every once in a while I get a cravin' for them and I gotta make a batch.
Now I'm waiting on Tylenol pm to kick in....

Back at work. About half of my scheduled appointments aren't reporting. Gonna take a late lunch so I can at least make an appearance at Bro Jeff's funeral. I would've taken the day off, but we are short handed today.
And I'm pleased with one of my recent purchases. Walmart had a tiny (about a foot tall) replica Frigidaire  1950's refrigerator in Aqua blue on their black Friday sale. It is a genuine plug in cooler that holds a 6 pack of canned sodas- barely.
At $20, I splurged, bought one, and installed it on my desk. Now I have a stylish Dr. Pepper cooler full of the nectar of the gods at my elbow...nice and cool.

Black Friday (er.. Thursday night) shopping was not for the faint of heart. I amazed myself and never got sleepy until we got into the toasty car on the ride back to our homes. BUT! I lost so much of my Friday from having to catch up on sleep that it kinda bummed me out. I'll probably go again next time if they ask me, but I probably won't volunteer, hahaha. My whole weekend felt off after sleeping most of Friday. (We started at like.. 5 or 6 pm Thurs and I got home about 6:30am Friday.) I surprisingly didn't spend all that much money since I already had most of our Christmas done.

I just have to start wrapping all that mess now. That's not my favorite part, but I am going to try. Then maybe as it gets closer, Jeremy can help me wrap the last few (or the awkward shaped ones I save for him LOL). He's pretty good at wrapping presents.

I'm ready for lunch, but it's only 10:18. I have leftover six cheese tortellini in alfredo sauce for lunch!

W*rk is a lot harder in the morning when you have something really good you brought for lunch, that you can't stop thinking about. You have to either struggle through an interminable morning... or sneak a bite or two.

At work. Feel poorly. Have lost my temper once today to an extent, with a lying probationer who now is enjoying accommodations at our county jail.
Oh, and it is 50 cent corn dog day at sonic. So I splurged and bought a couple, along with a vanilla cream cherry dr pepper.
Lord, I need to get through this day..

Well, the day didn't really improve. I still feel somewhat poorly. And to add to the headache an idiot probationer came in despite not being scheduled, told me he was now homeless and demanded to go to jail. When I told him jail wasn't a hotel and he couldn't go there, he yelled, he'd go steal some stuff- not his language- and ran to the plate glass door, and put his foot through the half inch thick plate glass. His semi-bare foot, with only a soft house slipper type shoe. Yes, he cut himself. Yes,he went to the hospital, and then to the jail. And I had to do a metric ton of paperwork over the idiot.

Yeah. I believe I AM Santa.

I'll put it this way- the best pot of chili there was chicken chili, which, although it was delicious, had about as much business being in a chili contest as I have being in the Miss America pagent- which for the record , I have no business in said pageant even as a janitor.

In sharing, I did next to nothing today.

I mean yeah, chicken chili can be good... But... that was the BEST ONE THERE?!

What did y'all do? If you claim chicken chili as the winner there would be a riot. Did you lie and say a more traditional chili won?

Next year you'll know to enter the contest yourself, if only to give the poor judge palates a respite.

I still have some chili in the freezer, in Grandma's little meals ready to eat, that turned out pretty good. A pound of sausage, two pounds of sausage with sage, kidney beans, stewed tomatoes, garlic, just a touch of brown sugar and red pepper (not enough to make it sweet or hot, just enough for character,) basil.

Well, there were ten contestants and three judges. We scored based on aroma, color, consistency, taste and aftertaste....at least that's what the score sheet said. Each category was scored from one to ten, ten being the best. My second place was a deer chili- it was decent, but not something I'd drive for. Apparently everyone agreed- it got the most total points so it was named the winner.
I would enter, but I've never been totally happy with my own chili. Always seems to miss something.

And in sharing, it is Sunday. It is cold. And I intend to do nothing until church time, where I hope God will have His way. As is usual lately I have a few verses and a core thought... He apparently don't trust me to not mess it up so I don't get everything early.

Add a pound of pork sausage. Do not drain the grease after browning the sausage. The grease emulsifies the whole pot of chili, gives it that texture that you can't get any other way.

Also very unhealthy, but nobody ever ate chili for health reasons. :teeth:

In regards to Christmas- I set up our Christmas village inside complete with the Polar Express. The mantle has greenery and plaid ribbons, and our slightly hokie 1970s foot tall letters spelling out "PEACE" is on the mantle as is our tradition.
But- the outdoor decorations, including the dozen or so holiday themed M&M characters, have NOT made an appearance, and probably won't this year. I've been too busy to worry about them. In fact I still need to take down the fall themed decorations and scarecrows...

I'm weird. I prefer a few slices of bread, preferably homemade, to eat with my soup. And even weirder, I like to throw a slice of cheese into it too. In fact, that's what Lou made for supper and I pigged out. I enjoyed homemade bread that I didn't make too. Down the road from the house a Pentecostal Holiness couple have opened a bakery/restaurant/wholesome foods store. Just getting started but they sell fresh farm raised beef and pork, homemade sourdough bread- some of the best I've had- homemade Salsa, Old time homemade blackstrap molasses, homemade jams and jellies...absolutely delicious.

Well tomorrow's going to be "interesting." Children's Christmas play tomorrow morning.

The last practice was last Sunday. Some of them still don't know all their lines. I cobbled together a cue sheet for starting and stopping the soundtrack, but I haven't had a practice to test it. We aren't going to get the stage put together until tonight, so the kids won't even get one practice in with the props in place. And we still have no idea where the microphones will be placed on stage. While they are speaking I'll be trying to remember which field microphone is closest to that quiet kid so people can actually hear him, and trying to remember to turn all the other over-amped microphones down so they won't make feedback.

Very "interesting" indeed. Maybe I'll call in sick. Can you call in sick at church?

Fuzzy, Lou has moved over to the deli. She likes it but had to take a pay cut, as well as her hours changing. Now she is working more evenings and Sunday mornings.
And Mini, Sunshine- it's a tiny little hole in the wall right now, as they are just getting started. They offer lunch too, but it's whatever they've cooked that day, no burgers or anything, mainly soups and bisques, that kinda thing. I hope it catches on for them. As much as I enjoy baking, it is nice to have the option of just driving a couple of miles and picking up homemade bread rather than dragging everything out and making it.
Last night was our church Christmas party. Several people showed up I had never seen before- as in they were Aunt so and so's cousin's husband's in laws. Normally I would not care at all, and in fact was glad that we were able to at least et some sort of interaction with them, but it put us in a bit of a spot when we had taken a headcount and planned for 50-60 people , but wound up with 70-80. There was enough food there, but they scraped the pans. Lou had to work and wanted me to bring a plate home to her- well, that's all I woulda brought home, a plate, because there wasn't any food left to put on it.
Today is church. Usually I'd be making sure I had my message ready and complete- but thankfully my dear friend and brother is coming to preach for us today. Chey likes it because her "crush" is his grandson and is coming too. Said crush has a hoodie emblazoned with his favorite brand of gun on the way for Christmas, and brought Chey a pink Camo hat and stylish camo vest thingie for Christmas. Yes, that sounds redneck, but the scrawny boy has apparently figured her out- she was on top of the world wearing them and exclaiming how perfect they were. Lord. She is TOO YOUNG for this. I'll never survive the next few years..

Wednesday after I get off work (or Thurs morning), we are heading to my parents for a pre-Christmas since Jeremy won't be able to take off to come back when the sis-in-law and brother fly in. Thankfully I'll still get to see them tho!

Wow. I didn't get a chance to post today..
Church went good last night- at least 3 of the  before-mentioned in laws of church members actually came to church and one hit the altar. That dinner was apparently resources well-invested.
And Chey and "Crush-boy" enjoyed time together at Wendy's afterwards while the grown-ups visited. They took a ton of pictures of each other- every time I looked over they were laughing and pointing their phones at each other. Bah.
Lou don't get off until 10 tonight, so Chey and I are chillin'. I suspect I'm about to call it an early night. It's cold outside, which has activated my snooze- mode.

We got a dusting of snow overnight. Got into the car and see a fresh new shiny crack in the bottom center of the front windshield. Pardon while I roll my eyes. LOL. I hope our insurance will help cover some of the cost, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I'll have to email my agent here in a minute.

@Work. Jeremy's got today left to work this week before his craft break starts tomorrow. Glad I only have tomorrow morning that I have to be the solo wake person at 7am. (To be fair, his alarm goes off at 5:30 normally and while it does wake me up, I go back to sleep until about 6:40.. so I am always still the solo wake person in the house at 7am because he leaves by 6:30 LOL). Anywho.. We leave for Arkansas on Wednesday evening after I finish the week's payroll. If it doesn't go well, we will have to leave Thursday morning instead. We won't be back until Friday evening, so tomorrow's my last day of work for this week. :) Great timing, haha.

Had our work Christmas "party" - I think we should just call it a dinner because we don't actually party, haha. Had a bloomin' onion (had some, regretted), fried mushrooms (gag), and cheesesticks (didn't get one). Then I ate MY food.. cream of potato soup for an appetizer, then a medium NY strip steak with garlic mashed potatoes for the real deal. It was good but the steak was way too fatty for a NY strip. Normally I love their steak. I was torn last night between steak and their pork chops. I should've gone with the pork. They have this wing sauce (sweet & spicy thai) that I looooooove with their pork. It.is.so.good! :)

I gonna tell your pastor you done backslid. :p  Whatever happened to the vow to give up Dr. Pepper?
I recall not such a vow.
 I NEED to, though.

How did it go?

Well. I didn't drown her, so I guess that's good. :smirk:
Had a bit of an uncomfortable moment. My sermon last night was pretty run of the mill, I thought- taught, as appropriate for the season, on The Gift. As I prepared it, I felt a strong urge to be sure and include the plan of salvation in the sermon. So I did, along with quite a bit of Oneness theology throughout.
So, Church starts and I look up to see a Baptist couple that has came ONE time, the female half of which I had gone to High School with, walk in....
So I teach, and in the course of my message- I try to be kind throughout, I explain what the Word says about Baptism, and stated that I didn't mean to cross anyone's beliefs, but from what the Word said, if you were baptized in any other way than Jesus name, you just got wet.
Kinda thought, "Oh, I shouldn't have said that" after I did but...
Long story short, the Baptist couple told a family member after church they would be coming to our church from now on, with the husband stating," I though I got baptized but from what the Word says, I just got wet."
Looking forward to God doing great things- in spite of my clumsy ways.

I'm a nerd. Sitting here waiting on Lou to get home, and hoping she remembers to bring me some bread flour so I can make bread...and I've got my circa 1934 Philco radio playing Christmas carols and Christmas stories. An antique nut like myself finds this pleasing.

You can do the same for a week with "Merry New Year!"

Morning all. Christmas went. Unusually warm day, like 70 degrees here. I will not complain, I much prefer that to snow. I came home from the family get together and put up the Christmas village and decorations. Now to enjoy the rest of my week off...

I thankfully do not have many decorations to put up, but I will have to wait until next week to move them out. I'm leaving tomorrow night to go back to Arkansas since my brother/sis'n'law flew in yesterday. Last Christmas for 2019! lol..

We had a great Christmas. I enjoy buying presents for people! It's always kinda sad when it's all done and over tho. Being off a couple days each week last week, this week, and next week, really make me want to be independently wealthy so that I can just sleep in every day and THEN go be productive hahaha. I'm thankful for my job, even if it's stressful like this morning. I didn't have a sip of drink or a bite of food until about an hour and a half ago. I got there at 8 haha.

:hi: Boy, I thought GP was dead before....
It's drizzled all day here. I got a new lapel mic setup I've been waiting on in, so I ran to the church and tested it out. Looks like it is gonna work. Maybe now 90 year old Sister Reed will be able to hear me and not threaten to beat me for not holding a mic closer to my mouth... she's a mess. I've decided she is life goals. Been in church since she was 16 and has absolutely no filter, nor any desire for a filter. LOL She was discussing with me recently about a couple of our single young ladies- "They ain't got no business whining about not havin' a man. I'm 90 years old and could have a date by dark, and be married in a week if'n I wanted". :laughhard:
Told me the other day that I needed to be brief, she couldn't sit that long. "Ain't no sense in closin' three times, chile. Say your piece, and sit down. "
And she's quick to tell me stories of the churches she's pastored.

In local news: You know when you've had so much holiday leftovers that you start mixing two leftovers together, just to get something different? The best combination I've found so far out of holiday leftovers this year is french toast + chocolate gravy. Mmmmmmm!

Second best is chili with some cheeseball melted in.

My w*rk week is not at all affected by holidays this year. I'm already off on Wednesdays.

Which is something of a pity, because New Year's Day at w*rk is always very quiet, very peaceful. Everybody is sleeping off their hangovers. If I had w*rked this Wednesday I could have brought a book or a laptop or something.

Today is New Year's Eve, and you know what THAT means. It's the ONLY day of the year when you can calculate a person's age by his birth year without worrying about an off-by-one error! YAY!

...Also there will probably be parties. Yay for parties!

"Off-by-one error" is not the easiest theme to build a party around, but I have seen worse.

My wallet was excited all day yesterday, expecting people to call in "sick" on New Year's Eve. It thought I might be there until late at night. Nope, everybody showed up right on time.

What is it with people these days? Can't rely on anybody any more. They didn't call in "sick" last Halloween either, and my wallet was really looking forward to it.

For the record I'm still here. Just don't got nothin to talk about.

Yesterday at w*rk was a BLEEP of a day. What made it worse was, it was right in the middle of the days I would have had off. I requested Thursday through Saturday off (and I never w*rk Wednesday or Sunday) so I would have left w*rk last Tuesday afternoon and not come back until next Monday morning. But I canceled it because I had a really bad feeling about it.

So all day yesterday I was going through a hectic day and thinking about how I could have been taking it easy instead. But nooooo, I had to cancel it on a bad feeling.

Oh yeah. LOL. My habit is to browse the surrounding states on FB marketplace and craigslist for motorhomes, antique cars and corvettes- none of which I can afford right now, but someday...LOL. Dallas is one of my go-tos. If you remember, I liberated my last corvette from there, or close to it, from Arlington. I'm browsing along and there it is. Ford Class C, lots of damage, wrapped up like a big burrito in tarps- $4800 I think is what he's asking. I looked and said- uh, that's more damage than I am comfortable with. Knew it was your dad because of the last name- not exactly common.

NERDS OF THE WORLD, REJOICE! THE GOLDEN AGE OF AUTOMAGIC* CONFIG IS HERE! Soon we will be free to pursue our own nerd interests, without being interrupted by Grandpa or cousin wanting us to help them with computer stuff!

So my uncle wanted a security camera to watch the front door. I googled a bit and found the Reolink Argus 2, and it seemed to have everything he wanted. It came in the mail, he got out his power drill to drive in some screws and we started setting it up. I was on hand  as the local nerd, to get the camera talking to his phone.

I was not needed at all.

It has an automagic* config. A child of four could get it connected to a phone. I installed the camera app on my uncle's phone and pointed my uncle's phone at the QR code sticker on the back of the camera. Then on the phone I put in the local wifi password. The phone gave me a QR code and I pointed the camera back at the phone to read it. And... that was all! The camera and phone were connected. Apparently the QR code the phone generated had all the wifi information and my uncle's phone connection. It even worked when my uncle left the wifi area, though it did ask if he was sure he wanted to use mobile data to continue accessing the camera.

Connecting two phones was even easier. Put the camera app on second phone, select "Share" on first phone, first phone makes a QR code and you show it to the second phone. Instant connection. I set up three phones total with the camera and all three just plain worked, seamlessly.

The time has come. This is what nerds everywhere have dreamed of.

"Oh, you're using their Chrome APP, not their Chrome EXTENSION. They're very similar but one handles window creation differently." is a thing I hope I can stop saying soon.

*Automagic config: When automatic configuration is so automatic it seems like magic. A term used in the early days of Knoppix, a Linux system that automagically configured itself to whatever computer you ran it on.

Issac, we often set up new phones at work.  One thing that I have noticed apple doing is the QR code thing.  You have an old phone, you set the new one next to it, they connect via wifi between them and *boom* your new phone is set up EXACTLY like your old one.  It's scary how good it is.

Android is making good strides in that area, but it's nowhere close to apple.

We have a camera system waiting on my husband's chore list to install. This list is about... a 2 year wait and rising, so I'm hopeful we can get it up and running before our next vacation. Today was my day off and I thought I would like to make some chocolate pudding but I made it with half'n'half instead of milk and melted dark chocolate chips instead of powdered cocoa and I baked it instead of cooking it in a saucepan and it turned into some kind of chocolate souffle instead of pudding and I tried it and it was VERY good and I ate way too much and that was more than eight hours ago and I'm still hyper...

I think I need help...

I think I'll call it a chocolate quiche. That or souffle is as close as I can come to describing it.

I know this is not the area for prayer requests, but this is the area most frequented by everyone.

I cannot remember (or find anything from me) if I shared last summer about a couple who had delivered their daughter stillborn a week before her due date. My friend that I work with, it's her nephew and his wife. Their lives were quite obviously and understandably wrecked from all of that. Just in December I guess, they let the family know that they were expecting again. Everyone has been so happy and excited about this new baby. She has been feeling tired and sick a lot lately, which everyone shrugs off as the flu or pregnancy-related. She was diagnosed yesterday with late stage lymphoma.  She will be going to Barnes in St Louis for treatment next week. She is in her second trimester of pregnancy.

Everyone is very concerned about what this will mean for the pregnancy, since it's expected that Barnes will suggest terminating the pregnancy. They are asking for a miracle, and we know God is in the miracle "business" as they say. She is needing a mental touch, as well as physical for her and the baby.

I would ask that you all pray with us for Katie, Clayboy, their sweet rainbow baby, and their families.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) - "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." God has His hands on Katie and Clayboy, and I know they probably struggle to see that He truly does with all of this pain and anguish. It would be very difficult even in the strongest believer.

@Work. I killed the toaster. I put in four poptarts, turned it on, and the next thing I know.. someone says there's smoke billowing out of the kitchen. I couldn't even see the poptarts anymore they were so black. I'm not sure what happened... unless it just finally died? The settings never get changed on it. Anyway. So now I'm out a breakfast of four poptarts (I know, that's a lot.. but they are SOO good toasted!!) and I'm still hungry. So now I'm eating my Hostess Donettes and drinking some Dew.. and eating some doritos, bc the sweetness of the donette was too much, haha. Vicious cycle.

Now I just hope that by lunch.. I don't have to hear anymore fire jokes. :)

Morning all. Kinda dreary day here- going to go to Conway to assist with range in a bit. Got a newbie or two we have to try to teach to shoot. Kinda hard when we have to take someone who has never picked up a gun before and make them an expert shot, shooting at least 80%, in less than three weeks. Well, I guess technically it is around 7 weeks if we are able to take them out on the weekends, but since that's only one day a week, all seven weeks account for about 1 week max....

I think we are supposed to possibly see more rain this weekend. And Fuzz, you need to. It's a skill most folks should have now days, even if they decide to not carry everyday.

Back at work. Feeling blah. Started to call in, but I did that a couple of months ago and don't want it to be a habit. With all the time off lately with holidays and then me taking a couple hours on Monday, I felt it would look excessive. So I sit here not feeling well and wishing I were asleep in bed.

Why do we do that to ourselves? LOL.. Yet I hear on the BBC news yesterday on a story about Africa and China media combining in Nairobi that they consider Americans to be lazy... yet we don't get afternoon naps, we don't get long maternity/paternity leaves, we work long, crazy hours. I barely eek out using my vacation days up before they expire, and I rarely even touch even half of my sick days. I tend to use those hours for doctor or dentist visits that I cannot manage to get appointment for outside-of-work hours. I hate being late or missing work, because I feel like I'm letting everyone else down. So we arrive sick, and pass those germs right on along, or our quality of work may suffer from not being 'all there' due to not feeling well.

Hopefully you have a good day anyway, and feel better! Rest this weekend! LOL.. Eat some warm, comfort food.. like soup for supper. Yum, soup sounds so good.

I'm @work obviously. I can't decide if I'm going to eat a waffle & turkey stick for lunch, or if I'm going to cook a baked potato. I have about 45 minutes to decide.. and I'm already hungry for lunch!

Slept most of the day, then Lou drug me to Russellville for dinner. Mistake. Back at home, sick again. I honestly think I am going to call in sick tomorrow and simply sleep.

@Work. There are days that I love the "Informed Delivery" for USPS, but today - it is pure torture. Jeremy's getting some sort of mail from the Department of the Treasury, and we have no clue what it's about. He's the carefree person, and I'm the "I'm going to worry about this all day" because I'm the one who pays the bills and has to figure out how we are going to work things out. Hopefully it's nothing too poisonous and it won't ruin my weekend. Ugh. Long time until 4pm.

Have done nothing today. Did exactly as I mentioned last night and called in. One of my new books came in the mail- I'm hooked on the Brock and Bodie Thoene series "The A.D. Chronicles"- I may have mentioned them. I bought one at a thrift shop, got hooked and now I've bought 9 others in the series, and still have a few to go. Ebay is wonderful and terrible. I  read the one that came in- yes, the entire book, I'm a speed reader- and ebay'd two more, and I'm irritable that they aren't already here. LOL.
Oh, and I DID put on Lou's chicken dish she wanted- mix orange marmalade and bbq sauce together, add soy sauce and garlic, and cook over chicken breast. I've got that in a crockpot. I think it's supposed to have rice to serve it on, but that's on her.

Quote from: sunlight on January 18, 2020, 06:19:58 PMNelle- what was in the mail?

We finally deduced (before seeing it) that it was probably VA-related since it was only in his name and the fiscal department deals with them as one of their major "clients." I had errands to run in town but I drove straight to our house and literally parked in front to check the mail. Opened it while I was on the phone with Jeremy and it was a refund check from the VA for copays! I hope someone tells us next time what we don't have to pay so we don't pay it again. :) I was SO thankful.. We cracked up on the phone. I asked him what he was going to be doing with his winnings. And now I have to buy him a slimer bank.. LOL. From Ghostbusters.

@Work. It's snowing here, but it's the pretty snow that doesn't seem to interrupt life. Jeremy's off today thanks to Martin Luther King Jr Day! He's going to go to a delicious restaurant (Lambert's) with some of his buddy coworkers.

We went to a delicious restaurant yesterday! If you're ever in Marion, IL.. stop and eat at La Galeria Mexican Cuisine and Creamery! It's very different from the run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurants that are in the area. Very different dining experience, but completely delicious. I haven't had any quinoa or guacamole that I've ever liked... and I had it there and loved it. :) We also had items from their creamery. I chose mango (like a sorbet?) and he chose a strawberries 'n cream bar. They have SOO many options. I can't wait to go back. :)

Avocado. I've never seen the other style, I don't think.

@Work. Wishing I was eating at Lamberts.. .but I had Wendy's so I won't complain. LOL.  Something about Wendy's chicken nuggets and their sweet & sour sauce. I managed to share one nugget and half my fries with our office little girl (my friend/coworker's granddaughter), but when she asked for four more.. I had to decline, LOL. She was having pizza for lunch that just needed to cool down from being in the oven. Otherwise (if she was starving) I would've shared of course.

Ok. Went after the 'vette today. Couldn't get it to start, so we went and got a new battery and it fired off. Rather than load it, we decided to have some fun and drive a bit. Worse case, we could always load it up..

Four miles out of town, I stood on it, it took off- and promptly split the oil sending unit. I fogged mosquitos for a mile. Went and bought the $13 part and got it back on the road....

And stopped and got gas again. I knew it wasn't running perfectly, so it was not a surprise that the gas mileage was poor- but I didn't count on 6 mpg. LOL
(https://i.ibb.co/hW8Rmc3/c3-pic-2.jpg)

Got about 20 minutes from home and nearly had a catastrophe. It had originally had a mechanical oil pressure gauge in it, which requires an oil line into the cabin of the car. Someone had put an electrical gauge in it. Unfortunately Bubba Mechanic didn't know how to take the oil line out. It dumped about three quarts of oil on the passenger floorboard. I heard it making a bit of lifter noise at a stoplight, pulled into a parking lot and shut it down. We completed the trip on the trailer, but got it fixed now.
Now to work on all the little things a 41 year old car needs, including paint, since the clearcoat coming off make it look like it has leprosy.
All in all though, it is a solid car, probably a $5-6k car- and I'm in it for , oh, $2300-ish. I'm happy. God supplied the desires of our hearts for my little girl.

Actually that's not what surprises me (even if that was what you meant.) What shocked me most was you bought a car "unknown, untested."

I hereby formally retract what I once said about you buying cars like I pick up laptops or android phones. I investigate what I get before I get it.

Isaac, lets see if I can put this in perspective for ya. Imagine being able to pick up a high zoot gaming computer worth  $5k. You meet the guy, know it isn't hot, and he shows you recent receipts where it was checked out. But, he is hurting for money and will take $100 bucks for it. The case that he has for it and the accessories that go with it are worth $300.  Do you buy?

Here's the deal. I'd investigated C3 Corvettes for a while. The cheapest I had found were $5k or so. I KNEW that if I bought this one right, even if it didn't run, I could slap a $350 junkyard 350 in it and sell it for $4500,$5k. And when he was willing to take $2200- I jumped on it. I did investigate the main issues- clear title, no rust- but if I had waited and came back to hear it run before making the deal, the guy who was in line behind me for it would have came over and put cash in his hands.
And, Chey and I have been praying. Yes, silly I guess, to be praying over something as inconsequential as a car that is a secondary vehicle at this time, but He gave us exactly what we wanted.

Okay I can see that, contrived analogy notwithstanding. (If the graphics card is shot, no way I'm buying it!) :p

And nothing wrong with praying about it. I pray before I get a car. That's a lot of money to me and I need something dependable.

It is a beautiful looking car! I know nothing about vehicles other than how to drive them, add air to the tires, and add gas. One of my family's older cars that is no longer with us - I use to have to jump start it with a screwdriver. It was terrifying. LOL. I understand the concept of changing a tire, but have never actually done it.

Otherwise he can't talk to people while he's working or listen to any music. Quiet or just street noise is great at times, but other times it's nice to have some distraction!

@Work.

Jeremy's grandpa (his mom's dad) passed away yesterday. He's had many health issues just in the last 8 years I've lived here, and while I'm sad for the family, I'm thankful he is no longer in pain and so tired. I think services will be the weekend, but have not heard officially yet.

Having church on Thursday nights the last week, this week, and next.. has really confused my work brain. I thought I had an early morning today because I thought it was Friday! I will be glad when life returns to normal!

My house is also suffering from schedule changes since I have to finish the church reports for year end and I haven't been able to continue the work on house clean-out. Instead, I have house chaos.

I stand at 23.

How many have you owned?
Title: Re: Let’s see if Lynx goes a Courting in Sharing 5 hundred 14
Post by: Nelle on January 23, 2020, 08:09:14 PM
I have only literally owned 2. My parents owned my first since I shared use of it with my mom. I still have my actual first owned car and only my name is on the title. Jeremy drives it to work. My name is also on this current vehicle (also has his). We have a truck, but that's completely in his name.

Urgh. Well, in relation to the car question-  According to Germ, after I went through my memory bank, counting motorcycles and Lou's cars we have owned since we got married, I'm around 46. I think.  And there are a few items- two Harleys, a magna,Sam the '52, ect that I have owned two or three separate times.
Yeah, I have an addiction for my vehicles.

Morning all. So far, I am not awake. Stewing over Walmart taking advantage of my wife not knowing what to tell them on the tire mounting and soaking her for $88 bucks to mount and balance tires (they added Road Hazard and all the other extras I always turn down. Bless her heart she didn't know to tell them no). The Corvette has to have a new carb- the one dudeman put on it doesn't fit, it's a speadbore he sat on a squarebore intake, and it's trash, so it's gotta go...
And I have to go do home visits today.
And W2's are ready.

Church tonight was... neat. Really neat.

I was supposed to sing a solo. I have no idea what's going to happen in the service, so all I can pray is that I'll pick a song that goes with whatever's going to happen.

We recently started having two solos on Sunday night. Sis. Shelia sang a solo first, and she sang a song about choosing to count her blessings. Then announcements, then my song. During announcements I leaned over and told her I promise I didn't know what she was going to sing. My song was the Gaithers: "Everything Good," about choosing to dwell on what is good.

Then the pastor preached about how we have a choice to sow good or sow grumpiness all around us, and whatever we sow is what we're going to get back.

That's awesome Lynx.

I had to laugh at myself this morning.

In 2001 when I started out at the airport my boss was at the ripe old age of 51. I was 22 and thought I had a full understanding of the entire world and how people operated.

One day he got mad at me because I moved a paper on his desk. I got a royal chewing out that day. I remember wondering how anyone could be so closed-minded and not be able to look 3 feet away to see the object he was looking for.

Fast forward to today. I looked for 10 minutes this morning trying to find my deodorant. All because I put it exactly one shelf higher then what I normally do.

Mr. Boss, I understand now.

@Work. Should probably work on my taxes, but I'm not ready for that terror yet. Still have to finish church reports as well, so that's kinda taking priority over pretty much everything else except going to work and sleeping. This is the part of the treasurer position that I despise, haha. I can't ever get it to work right the first time. I have to get outrageously irritated first instead, hahahaha.

Funeral on Saturday was sweetly sad. Jeremy's first grandparent to pass, so he hasn't had to face those that emotion before. I wasn't too close with this side of the family, but it's amazing how much it hurts to see people you love hurting.

Speaking of funerals.. I finally got to see some military honors (just Taps this time) at the cemetery. I was sad to see that they didn't actually play it, but instead it's an electric trumpet (I think that's the instrument?) that plays it like a stereo. I was really hoping to see the real thing. Wish I could've seen a 21 gun salute.

Hoping this week is much less crazy than last week.

They fired the first volley off and my nephew nearly climed over my dad trying to get away from it...we tried not to laugh.  Scared the devil out of that kid.

Nelle my neuro says go to bed at the same time every night, get up at the same time every day. Helps your body regulate your sleep. I struggle with sleep also. I do all sorts of things. Magnesium at night. Essential oils ALWAYS (all day every day). No tv in my bedroom. Bedroom stays clean (clutter in the room makes your mind cluttered. It affects the body.) Title: Re: Let’s see if Lynx goes a Courting in Sharing 5 hundred 14
Post by: Nelle on January 29, 2020, 02:49:50 PM
LOL. I unfortunately am not getting sleepy until like 12am.. and yall.. I LOVE MY SLEEP! This is driving me nuts, to not be able to sleep and then I don't sleep thru the 'night' either. I wake up constantly to roll over or I wake up burning up. Jeremy keeps his mattress pad on high all night lately b/c it's so cold for him (he's a different person temp-wise after his weight loss surgery a couple of years ago). I know that if my cover touches his cover (yes, we have separate cover for someone's stingy reasons lol), I wake up feeling like I'm laying on hot coals or something. I'm NOT a super cold person at night. I like it chilled enough to NEED cover. We always slept with a fan on by the bed, but with the allergies and sinus issues I've had for a year plus, I haven't been using it because we worried it was making it worse. I'm wondering if that's not my issue now.. that the fan would keep me cooled off before, but now I'm burning up without it and once my body temp gets uncomfortable, I keep waking up from it. That and probably the varmint cats that keep knocking on windows and dragging loud toys on the floor. I might start taking melatonin again. Jeremy had nightmares from taking it, so I just stopped getting it at the store. I wind down the same time every evening, go to bed and don't sleep for another hour or so. Then when it's time to wake up for work, I have the hardest time waking up. Almost feels like you're drugged some mornings haha.

I cracked up laughing last night. I was falling asleep, and the cats would make a loud noise and wake me up out of the slumber. Jeremy wasn't asleep yet, so he thought it was funny but stupid. Then he started falling asleep, and they dragged a really loud toy on the floor. It would startle him out of his falling asleep, and he's like "Are they starting on construction in there or something?" Which I thought was hilarious.. b/c between him and the cats, that's exactly how I'd been feeling the past 30 minutes. I got so tickled that I had to get out of bed b/c my laughing was shaking the bed and he couldn't go back to sleep. It still gets me tickled to think about it. They make some weird noises with their toys and chasing each other.. that I have been startled awake many times wondering what on earth was going on because when you're first waking up, none of those noises make sense LOL.

Anyway. @Work.

Do you guys have that coworker/friend who constantly mispronounces normal words? I've corrected them a few times, but I've given up. They still say those same words that way.. like they think they're pronounced that way and I'm the wrong one, haha. I'm the type that I wouldn't want to KEEP saying it to other people b/c I wouldn't want to look silly, especially after a friend has told me it's not pronounced that way. Like still saying the earth is flat even though you know it's been told that it's round. :)

Well, today was Chey's first day at her job at the gun store. She loves it, and according to the owner was good at her job. They've got her mopping, sweeping, dusting, helping customers and learning the ins and outs of the gun business. Her mama and I discussed it and decided that it would be good for her to learn some responsibility and the job offer was too good to pass up, so we let her do it, as long as it doesn't cause her grades to suffer.
The down side is, I now have to have her in Conway at 8 every Saturday. :pound: Goodbye sleeping in. We didn't discuss the pay....so I was blown away when he paid her today and she earned $10 bucks an hour. She is ecstatic. And she made me proud. First thing she did was have me stop so she could break a $20 to pay her tithes....then we discussed a budget. The majority of her pay is going into her saving account.
Oh, and The 'vette is now home. It runs rather nicely. Now to start the clean up process..

Well, but you gotta remember Fuzzy, I'm a nerd. "Upgrade for a reason" is one of our mantras. If a computer is doing everything we need, we don't mess with it. Let the early adopters run out and get the latest version of Windows as soon as it is released, and let THEM find all the bugs.

Or maybe I'm just old and set in my ways. Either way I'm not upgrading a life that is running perfectly well right now.

Hmmm. We gotta find a way to send a Trojan Horse into your system.
Hi, all. Absolutely beautiful day here, one that I've nearly totally wasted by sleeping late. Fixing to head to church.

In local news, families are awesome.

Back in late October when that big storm knocked over about a quarter of all the trees in west Tennessee and power was out for a week, I was in another town when it hit. By the time I (navigated around a lot of trees and) got home, multiple aunts and uncles were at Grandma's house. They decided where Grandma would stay until power was restored, lined up a roofer to fix the roof, got plans in place to take care of the fallen trees and everything. I commented to my visiting friend, "Grandma has Smith Family insurance. She'll be fine." (Names have been changed to protect... well... me.)

Today an elderly lady at church had a flat tire. The elderly lady has a daughter who is married to an Adams man. (Family name has been changed.) So of course the Adams guy and his father tromped out to fix the tire on the spot. The Adams guy muttered something about he still didn't like how the tire looked and he was going to take the car home tomorrow and fix it right. I said, "Ah, so since she married you, her mother is covered by Adams Insurance."

Here in the South it feels like when you marry into a family, you're marrying into the Mafia, but without the crime. "You married my son. You're family now. You got a problem, let me know. We'll fix it."

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I think it's great.

I has cheesecakes!

Last Wednesday the pastor brought a cheesecake to a meeting. It tasted like homemade but he said he bought it at a local store where they make cheesecakes, slice meats, serve homemade lunches, all that kind of good local southern store stuff. I called up and placed an order for three - banana pudding cheesecake, key lime cheesecake and turtle cheesecake.

I like the banana pudding one the best. But each has its delicious place.

:hi: It snowed a bit here today. Lou had another toothache, and went to the dentist. Lou called me and asked that I talk with the receptionist/billing department. They attempted to assault my budget with a $3,000 "Care Plan", of course making it sound so good with Care Credit. Not today, Satan. Not a 28% interest rate. Especially when after I blew the door open on that little tidbit of information and they advised me that "right now, all she needs is a root canal"  for $219.  Yeah, while that hurts, it is somewhat doable....unlike three grand at an interest rate that puts me paying the price for the dentist's trip to the Bahamas. And his new bass boat.
I told them they needed to fix what was hurting her , LIKE SHE ASKED.....and not try to upsell us on a credit card, especially since they admitted it wasn't needed and it is back teeth which are not visible.

I'm assuming that is just our share. Lou has dental insurance that is actually pretty decent. The $219 is just our part. I'm sure they are assaulting the insurance company.  Dental costs, and all healthcare costs, are crazy to me. I hate our current healthcare system, but I think a single payer would probably result in even worse healthcare.

I didn't get my donut or Dr Pepper today. :pound: I had the pleasure of a ton of work, and then towards the afternoon, a coworker got word that one of his clients was being sought for killing her boyfriend. This resulted in us having to go to her house to find her. Fortunately for me she wasn't home.
And guys, the rain has to go. We'd fixed most of out septic issues, but I still need a bit more fill dirt in one spot. Because of this if it rains a couple of inches we are back to issues. It has rained so much here recently, we are about to float away.

Oh boy. Don't talk about the dentist!! I have to go I think the last week of Feb, and it's never cheap. LOL. I pray that Jeremy makes regular soon so that I can get dental insurance thru his work. I have 0 at mine.

Finally back @work this week. I was SO sick over the weekend. Just really feeling like I'm doing better today, and I'm trying to stay on the mend. Poor Jeremy still has whatever his junk was.. I keep calling it the croup, but I really dunno. Coworkers have had it and spread it among themselves and their families for a week. I'm praying that this weekend was my body fighting it so that I won't GET it fully. He's been miserable. I think he may have taken too much NyQuil last night. He was interesting this morning.

Jeremy's mom is still in the hospital, but more so for waiting on a rehab place and for her medicaid application to get processed. She is BEYOND ready to get home. She's 3 hours from home, so not many people can go see her. We haven't been back since Tuesday last week when we left to come back home for work due to work and sickness. Her spirits are a little deflated as of late. Praying for good news soon!

Hmm... Going off the definitions online, you're either really complimenting a woman or really trying to insult one, haha.

Almost off work. We're supposed to have church tonight instead of last night due to sicknesses. However tonight.. it's going to be in the 20s when church starts. Our church is extremely small, and about 5-6 adults (including me) are under the age of 60. The rest are either younger than 9, or older than 60. And I'm talking the older end of that spectrum. Nervous about the rain we have had combining with the extreme cold. Hopefully everyone is smart about it and bundles up, takes safety in mind when they're exiting/entering vehicles & buildings. Sun has been out some I think, so that should have helped the water to dry up some even though the temps never were good.

Literally just exhausted with 'life' these days. I'm fighting church financials still, plus work financials, and I also need to do our household's taxes. I maybe don't like business as much as I once thought.. lol.

It's supposed to get cold here tonight as well.  As far as "business", I've completed my taxes, my sister's taxes, and still have to do Ms Hattie's taxes. (Ms Hattie, also known as Mama Hattie and Sis Hattie, is a 79 year old black lady that is literally my other mother. She is my spiritual rock who I can depend on giving me a true word from God when I need it most. Several years ago, she mentioned she didn't know who to get to do her taxes. I wound up doing them on Tax Act for her. That was around 5 years ago. I'm still doing them. She FINALLY retired this year on JAnuary 4th, so I think this is the last year for her taxes).

And it seems like life is exhausting for everyone I know in church. Everyone is battling something, it seems worse than I've ever saw. Either that or maybe as a people we are more open about it and willing to ask for prayer.
Our little church has been running in the low 40s lately. I'm overjoyed- we'd dipped down in the 20s pretty consistently there for a bit.

Very much agree. I work in a field that to admit to depression or anxiety is looked at as weakness, unfortunately. But several coworkers, who know that I am a preacher, have told me at various times that they are battling both depression and anxiety, and at least 3 are seeing counselors.
Looking at the times, seriously should scare the everlivin' breath out of anyone not ready to meet Him. The path our nation and world is on screams that life as we know it is winding down.

On another note- I got in a car today at 9am and other than getting out for gas and to put an offender in and out, and lunch, never stopped until 4pm. Made for a quick day. Came home and took Chey's wheels to Walmart and got the new tires mounted. And on a terrible note, we found out today our sweet good tempered furbaby Domino has congestive heart failure, and is in the final stages. We noticed he was having difficulty breathing the other night and had began coughing. Lou took him to the doctor who verified our worries. He has some medication, but the vet really didn't hold hope that he would be with us long. The vet said that he's not in pain though, so as long as he isn't hurting we will love our boy and keep him. It's gonna hurt when he gets to the point we have to put him down. He's been the sweetest boy ever, and we've had him for 11 years...

Feh. Pets ought to live as long as we do.

Say Bobby, when you're driving offenders here and there, do you play music? If so, do they ever complain about your choices? Or do you spare them and drive in silence?

Ooooooh... or do you SING to yourself while they are in the car?

Hey don't laugh. This could be a breakthrough, the solution we have been looking for to stopping crime.

We hit the road with 'em and tell them before we leave the jail to pee, cause we ain't stopping. Our transports are usually 2 hours or so, maybe 3 at max, since we are in the center of the state. Transport companies usually bring the prisoners to the jail closest to the state line and we go get 'em from there.

We usually try to time it so we have time to eat lunch BEFORE we pick up the prisoner. Policy is for us to stay moving while we have an inmate in custody. Music wise- they may hear us talking, may hear country, gospel, or whatever else we've a mind to listen to.

And today is supposed to get to 60 degrees...but so far you couldn't make me believe it. Bah. I've a set of wheels and tires I wanna put on the Corvette but I don't wanna freeze doing it.. And I don't feel like firing up the heater in the shop.

LOL.

@Work. MIL is doing well at the new rehab place. She's gained the ability to raise her arm and move her wrist. Now we are hoping her hand/fingers improve soon too. The therapists are optimistic that she won't be there the full two weeks that normally people are there for since she can already do so much. We are just keeping praying for her mind because it's driving her nuts being in the hospital so long. lol. Thankfully we are able to see her SO often b/c she's literally in the building behind Jeremy's post office.

I'm going to my parents this weekend since our plans this weekend fell thru. They were going to come see us Sunday for my birthday tomorrow, but a family I grew up around had a death in their family last week so they were able to go to the visitation last evening. I wish I could have gone, but I've made sure to let them know I've been praying/love them.

I'm literally going to be pulling my hair out with these church books. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, and if I can't figure it out soon, someone else is going to be having to dig through it to figure it all out.

Still have to do my taxes and my house is in desperate need of cleaning. It's all been on hold with those church books being in my brain.

Today was grand. I was off, and slept in. Got up and ate a big slice of Amish bread I baked last night. Then I later cooked some delicious T-bone steaks. Finally, I went and cleaned the shop, apologized to Sam and begged him into starting so I could get him out of the back yard before the next monsoon stranded him there until summer, and took Chey on a brief cruise in her 'vette. Now I'm vegging with my new favorite snack- dark chocolate cocoa roasted almonds. No, they are not chocolate covered, just roasted with cocoa. Absolutely delish, not nut tasting so much as chocolate tasting. My only issue is I have to keep my teeth in to eat 'em. :pound:
And slight vent- I posted a set of very nice aluminum wheels on fb- the ones that were on the corvette. Not my style but nice. Priced them at $250, figuring I'd take $200. I had an idiot offer me $100. Snooped his page- it's all pro-socialism and for sale ads. So big boy, you hate capitalism, but you sure are enjoying buying cheap and reselling. I do believe that is- capitalism. Flippin' moron.

Those almonds can be a shock to somebody who is expecting candy-coated nuts, but they sure are good. :)

In local news: My Grandma now has Alexa. Or rather, she has a spare android phone that is doing the same job. I figured if Google Assistant is the programming behind the Google Home pod (Google's answer to Alexa) then why not just use it on a phone? I quickly found out the reason: Google Assistant does not unlock your phone by voice command, for security reasons. I also quickly found the answer: Go into developer options and set the phone to never lock the screen while it is plugged in.

I paired the phone with a speaker I had lying around (I have lots of speakers lying around) and set it to never lock the screen, and now all she has to do is say "Hey Google (command)" and it does it.

"Hey Google, call Rick (or Fred or Diane or anybody in her contacts list.)"
"Hey Google, what's the weather like?"
"Hey Google, what time does Piggly Wiggly in (our town) close?"
"Hey Google, shuffle Gospel" (the playlist I made for the phone.)

I did warn her to never, ever say "Hey Google, good morning." I was looking up various things about Google Assistant and found out that is its command to start a morning routine... so I tried it. That little thing started talking and wouldn't stop! It gave me the time, the day, the weather report, then it started playing news headlines from around the world and I couldn't even make it stop by saying "Hey Google, shut up!"

We have a few Alexa things. We love it for alarms, timers, games, music, and for the weather plus more I'm sure. Jeremy uses it for gaming sometimes and has it set up with his own weird language and triggers haha. We go from talking really sweet and polite to Alexa.. to yelling at her to stop creeping or to hush, hahaha. She gets a little chatty sometimes. :)

LOL. Rap of any type is probably one of like three types of music I CANNOT appreciate despite trying. The other two are any type of techno-music, and opera/classical. And I will admit that at times I can listen to some classical.
Me- country style, old gospel, even a little hair band screaming guitar, yeah I can listen to that. I will say that the older I get though, the more I appreciate the songs I remember my mama listening to. Used to, as a rebel kid and general idiot, I listened to a lot of rock, outlaw country, that type despite hearing preaching against it.
Now, I find myself listening to and longing for the sounds of the Hinsons, McGruders (who I used to hate), Quinton Mills, pretty much any of the old gospel hymns.
I don't have anything against newer music. I like some of it, but the old stuff takes me to a simpler time- a time when it seemed like everyone I knew was at least trying to live for God, and those who weren't were open about it and admitted their fault, not making excuses as to why their lifestyle was right.
I miss the simple days.

Oh I def. dont listen to much newer stuff. Only new stuff I listen to is from gospel artists.

I love rap because it's the music I go to when I am feeling grumpy. Or when I don't wanna sing. I have to have music that I can't sing to otherwise I will want to sing and sometimes I just dont wanna sing. I need to feel. Or sit with my body and listen. Music is for every emotion. That's why I believe in music outside of something christian. There is music for everything. And I believe while you can get spirits attached by the music you listen to I don't believe it's all bad or all good. It's with everything else meant to be taken with caution as is with anything you put before your eyes.  You can't romance to Jesus Take the Wheel. hahaha....

I also listen to techno-ish - when you need a fast paced environment cus you wanna exercise something churchy just dont cut it. I dont wanna shout haha...I want to exercise......But there are TONS of techno/revamped styles of christian artists who've done techno. Even the old group Avalon did a techno album. I also love opera and LOVE classical. You probably don't like any motown or jazz either. Smh. We are quite opposites sir haha...Cus I hate southern gospel and country.

If more people let Him take the wheel in that particular area, we'd have less relationship wrecks. :laughhard:

Yeah, we be opposites. But that's what makes the world interesting. People have the right to have terrible tastes, and I will love 'em in spite of it. :hypocrite:

In sharing, today was approximately 7 gazillion years long. And my work truck got taken by another officer for tomorrow, inconveniencing me. And it's been raining most of the day which makes me more grumpy than normal. I'm not sure I'm even human today. But, on the bright side, the center caps for the 'vette came in today. It looks much better.

The recommended BMI is for twig people. I lost all trust in the medical profession when they started going by a chart of how much a person should weigh for the height. Some pretty broad (not fat, just built large) people I know would have to live half-starved lives and maybe take the bones out of their legs to meet that.

Forget it. Doctors can practice all they want, but they gotta catch me before they can practice on me.

It's a wonderful time to be a nerd.

My pastor gave me a case of 8 DVDs of ministerial training lectures and asked me to rip them to computer. Last time I tried to rip a DVD I was using a Windows computer and I could only find one program to do that, and the author of that one program had gotten some cease-and-desist letters. So I hemmed and hawed and said I'd see if that program was still floating around on a server somewhere, but no promises.

These days I default to Linux options, and it turns out Linux nerds really, really, REALLY hate media copy protection. I had a whole list of programs from which to choose.

Also I found a program that you can use to make an old android phone into a security camera. Now aunt Diane can keep an eye on Grandma from home, which sure helps aunt Diane's peace of mind.

Well, I'm at the county pig show.  Both kids have showed all year, this is the big event.

We will see how they do.

Daughters pig weighs 345ish.  It's the second biggest pig in the county.

Son's pig is 277.

What's funny is my daughters pig was sick for a couple weeks and now it's MASSIVE.

Big Hog at the trough.  So, what happens now? Do people bid for and buy them? Or are you gonna wind up with 500+ pounds of pig?
Went to Conway and made sure the church member was ok. When she was out of recovery, we took our leave and had dinner, then Lou shopped a bit while Chey and I went to the gun shop and to Harbor Freight for a couple of torx bits I needed.
I didn't get to work with the 'vette, but other than that it was a good day. I'm fixing to see if I can finish putting together the sermon God woke me with Tuesday morning, and hopefully give it to the church tomorrow night if it is His will...

Before I answer that let me explain a little.

At each show, each breed is divided up into weight class and depending on the number of pigs, a division.

My daughter is showing a York gilt (female).  A barrow is only good for meat, a gilt has the potential to produce offspring, and depending on how it does in the shows, it's more desirable for sale.

All season long, Peppa the York has done well and consistently placed in class and breed.  This show she won 1st in class, 4th in breed, and 14th out of all the pigs in the show.  Because of that, she made premium sale for the county.  That means this Friday night, she will go to "sale".  That means that people in the county will "bid" on her, and instead of taking the pig, the kid gets to keep the pig.  All money goes to the kids as a donation.

Then next week they go to OYE, the largest livestock show in Oklahoma and (I think) America and will go through the same kind of competition.  If Peppa gets to the premium sale in that show, she will be bought by a breeder and that marks the end of the show season.

If she doesn't sell, she is still valueable to local breeders, and we can sell her or work out a deal where we get the pick of the litter for next show season.

Next is Oreo, my sons pig.  She has been much slower in developing.  Each show she has done a little better, and if we had a longer season, she would be a great hog.

Oreo made 4th in class, 20th in the division and about 32nd in the breed.  Considering there were about 75 to 100 pigs, shes come a long way!

Using that, we may work out a deal with someone to take her for the pick of the litter too.

If not, bacon.

Now before you think lower of me for saying she may wind up as bacon, remember these are Ag kids who work all year long to understand the life cycle of an animal and the reason we raise them: Food.

That doesn't make it easy, but these kids do an amazing job raising these pigs.

Is there a higher calling for a pig than to become that most holy substance- BACON?!?

Morning all. At work. I've got a roast on and a pot of beans on in slowcookers at home so we will have a good dinner tonight. Miss Hattie is coming over so I can do her taxes, thus the big dinner.

Lord, I is ready for vacation...

What do the bidders get out of it? I'm missing a puzzle piece here.

Morning. Saw where Nashville got hit by 'nado last night. It's overcast here, but no storms really forecast that I know of. I'm at work early. But I get off at 330 , so I'm glad of that. That hour early makes a big difference.
And last night- shew. Had weird dreams all night, woke up at 2, at 3, at 430, at 515... Then I dozed off for good sleep, only to have to get up at 5:45. :pound:

When I worked at the bank, way back when, they bought a cow or bull... not sure which, had it processed and shared meat with all the employees. That was nice.

I wish the state would butcher some of the bull they have and give the MEAT to us. LOL
Oh well. I should have my processed beef for the year sometime this week or next, even if I did have to pony up the cash for it.
Morning all. Eyes open, day starting. Went and voted last night, put two new fuel injectors in Rusty, and went to prayer meeting, where my faithful few showed up. Now I get to slog through the day and hopefully go to church tonight, where I get to be taught to instead of preaching.

And in other sharing- the mean ole biddy admin  I mentioned Friday- well, she is apparently hated by my office. I usually get along with her, with her just hitting buttons from time to time. But she's 67 years old, and has a birthday approaching in the next week or so. We are a small office (5 officers, two admins a counselor and a supervisor)., almost more like family than work partners. I spoke with the supervisor and he and I were going to have a little Birthday party for Ms. Grump. Guys, NO ONE else in the office wanted to contribute. Everyone said they felt like they would be sending the wrong message and "rewarding her evilness". A couple even said if we do a birthday party, they'll be out that day. How bad is it when your coworkers dislike you enough they will take off rather than celebrate your birthday?!?!
I know I'm anti social, but I hope I'm never disliked THAT much!

Enjoyed the day off.  Went and picked up the beef, had to go buy another freezer as the two we had are full. I told Mini, fat boy may die sick and broke, but it won't be from hunger. :laughhard: I went to the local scratch and dent store to get another small chest freezer, and for the first time ever he didn't have one. I've bought two in the past 10 years from him and they've been perfect....at around a hundred bucks, I can live with a dent or scratch, especially since they are kept in the room off the carport.
I panicked- I had around 60 lbs of beef remaining to be put away, along with a ham and a turkey. No way that was fitting. I went by a local flea market, and thank God- there was a freezer. $125. It had a piece of weather strip loose and taped on with duct tape. I used this as a tool, bargained them to $85, nearly killed myself picking it up and putting it in the truck by myself, since the clerk was a 70+ year old woman, and headed home. An hour of work hauling junk out of the room and bagging trash and I had it in the room, plugged up and the meat put away.
I also mowed the yard and cleaned some stuff up. Been a productive day.
I meant to work on the vette but still haven't gotten to that yet.

It was nice today. Went to a hamfest and picked up another wooden tube type radio cheap- then came home and fixed the Corvette. Bro Wilson invited us over for a prime rib dinner that was delicious, and as an added bonus, he adjusted the carb on the Corvette which is the equivalent of black magic to me. It took him less than 5 minutes and it was purring.
And he is preaching tomorrow, which gives me the night off.

This "holiday" is my least favorite.. I'm hoping the rumor is true and we won't be switching times again ever. It's rough on this kid who LOVES her sleep.

We had to carpool again today since after we drove 45 minutes home Thurs night, he said the car was making the same noise. We took it back Sunday night for them to look at it today. This is also one of his longest work days.. so I get to work half an hour early, and I'll be staying several hours late. (insert tortured laugh here)

Anywho.. I'm about to take some pain meds and some sinus meds. We have rain today, and with that comes some lovely front or something that causes sinus pressure. Glad I brought plenty of snacks today tho! Sliced apples with cheese cubes.. Yum.

It's sprinkle/misting/ raining here as well. Been a steady morning. Tired of rain, and as far as the spring forward, I don't mind it too much. I kinda like having long days and it not getting dark until 7,8, 9 o'clock. It's the "fall back" part that gets me.
And I discovered much to my chagrin that the freezer I picked up is apparently the appliance version of Mini. Plainly put- it don't work. :pound:
Checked it yesterday- I'd placed a cardboard box with about 20 lbs of hamburger in it, and a box with a large Petit Jean ham and a large turkey on top if the hamburger. Fortunately, the ham and turkey kept the already frozen hamburger frozen. Unfortunately the ham and turkey were both partially thawed. So, I'm cooking our Easter ham early, and a turkey too. :smirk: Better than letting it ruin.
At least the flea market I bought it from was decent- they are giving me my money back for the freezer.
I did kinda make Lou unhappy- she had lasagnas , soups, ect frozen on one freezer. I had to throw out leftovers in order to save the meat. I'd rather have the meat that leftovers though.

Well. I'm glad it was Friday. Been a long day. Lots of talk about the pandemic at work. Speculation on whether they'll shut down all state agencies for a couple weeks, gossip about whether they will make us use sick time/vacation time if they do, and stuff like that.
I made it through the day, then came home, loaded the none working freezer onto the trailer to return it tomorrow, and put the defrosted turkey that has been in the fridge the last 3 days thawing completely into the smoker.
It's been smoking for about 3 hours so far.
If it would just stop the infernal rain- it is currently misting- I would be okay.

I'm not afraid of the coronavirus. (Well... covid-19, but nobody knows what you say when you call it that.)

I AM afraid of all the nuts who are afraid of it. People been getting into real fights over toilet paper at the store. Sheesh people, if stuff is important and you want to stockpile it for an emergency, stockpile BEFORE the emergency. Stockpiling during the emergency just makes problems for the rest of us who are down to our last roll and can't get any more because you idiots filled up your whole basement with it.

It's just a virus that can make you sick. If you are normally healthy it's not going to kill you. People are acting like it's the Black Plague. If you want to be afraid of something, be afraid of the flu - there's lots of strains of the flu that have a higher mortality rate than covid-19.

Debating on cancelling our mini-vacation/trip to Oklahoma. The governor has recommended no un-necessary travel. I'm not sure what Bro Ron thinks- he is still having services, but I don't know that it is wise to travel. I'm worried about 1) getting down there and not being able to get back because gas stations, ect are suddenly closed or 2) Getting sick and bringing it back here. We had a confirmed case diagnosed in the next county (Faulkner county, in Conway).

It does on me too. Just from what I've learned through media, friends and my government office. What worries me more than anything is the number of people who believe it is a hoax or feel like it will never get them. Their invincibility and stubbornness is going to make it bad for everyone I am afraid. Dear lord, pause life for two or three weeks, re-assess , and let's wipe this out. The more you prolong it, the worse it will be and the longer it will take to get it behind us.
And Chel, we WERE leaving Saturday. I've practiced what I am preaching and have cancelled our trip. I'll do things at home I've needed to do for a while. I might venture out to Lowes to buy a garage door, and pick up some primer for the Corvette at the auto store, but that's it. I am praying that the rain will stop, though.
After this is behind us, we will see if we can take a couple days' vacation and get away then.

Most in our area have cancelled due to there being positive cases near and our churches are a high percentage of senior saints. I just need to make a teaching schedule, but I don't want to make one that gets wiped out after putting all the work into it, haha. So I guess if we DO have church, I'll be teaching again for the 3rd week in a row since I haven't been able to notify anyone else that they would be needing to teach. Joys of a scheduler..

We've moved to online for Sundays as we have a can't have more than 10 people in one place law in place currently..... Not sure what that means yet though for the "online" piece. As they haven't said.

Dina & family are here. At least I don't have to wonder if they're ok.

Illinois has ordered a Stay at Home order, but it is not clear how this impacts my workplace. It sounds simple like you won't be able to go out other than emergencies, but then he says that even restaurants will remain open for drive-thru or curbside/to-go. All non-essential businesses must close. But what makes it essential? lol.. That's up for debate.

I've been selling quite a few eggs since the stores have been mostly out of them.
