I don't know if there are any other music teachers on board....if so, I don't think I've bumped into you. But I do know there are a lot of music lovers. :) So...if you love music and you're passing on that love to any children you know...you might take a look at this book I ran across:

The Story of the Orchestra by Robert Levine

It's amazing! Part One gives clear, concise overviews of the Baroque, the Classical, the Romantic, and the Modern eras, as well as brief bios of famous composers during each. And the accompanying CD has 37 tracks of selections from those composers, so you can hear their music while you read/teach the book. Part Two covers instruments of the orchestra (strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and keyboard)...again, with examples on the accompanying tracks. Also includes a brief chapter about conducting.

Highly recommended!!

Any books/CDs/other resources you've run across on teaching music to children and/or teens? Any that stood above the rest?
