well, I added a simple chat window to the default theme. http://godplace.com/forum/index.php?action=chat it'll take you into the ApostolicChat page with your forum login name. lets see how it works. you'll need Java installed to use it (most computers already have it) I'll try to add it into the other themes, I don't know how well those will work (click on the link above to try the chat if you're not using the forum default theme)
oh, if you get a Java security error, click "Accept" or "Allow". otherwise it won't let you into the chat.
:thumbsup2: :thumbsup2:
Hey cool!! :thumbsup2: Tricia needed one more chat room to go to. :laughhard: :laughhard: jk
How about we give it a try after church Tricia?
sure
If you already have an IRC client that you'd like to use, you can do so by pointing it to irc://irc.apostolicchat.com:6667.

And who was it I had to ask for help in fixing my avatar a while back? Eh? Trust me, no one's leaving you behind. :biglaugh:
:beret:
He is talking about if you already have a chat service installed like mIRC or Pirch...I used to have mIRC..I loved it, but then I got out of all that, and started posting on message boards. Kinda like the slower pace.
I like the slower pace too. It's easier to be smart. ;)
Er . . . "appear" smart.
my nic is stuck in the chat room
there are 2 of me in there now
:o
TWO of you? Can we handle that?
Just have the OP kick the other one....That used to happen to me all the time. But ask them to do a WhoIs so they kick the right one. :)
well if they do it this morning i not there so they can kick me out lool
What?! You mean now I not only have to watch our people at AC, but now I have to keep tabs on the GP people also now on the AC chat?! I better get hazard pay for this lol
lol
Aw Hat, you know we are not any trouble.
Well, not all the time. :hypocrite:
*cough*
And that from the Fingerprint. ;)
:beret:
Doesn't bother me, I have ways to deal with chatters that become problems. :)
How do you bold in there? Can you remain hidden if you just want to lurk?
The Java client has colors you can check and a bold option I believe. However, I wouldn't know for sure since I use an IRC client to help keep to my IRC duties when I am in there. I'll be there tonight after college prayer to help out when I can for the GPer's coming in.
I haven't used a chat since UPCI. I was a mod in there.
In IRC, bold is ctrl+b. It may be different for the java client. I haven't tried it.
No, you can't lurk. :teeth: Sorry.
B
I don't think you're THAT sorry, B! LOL *Snaps fingers* Can't check up on folks.

but you can change your name once you get into the room... there is a small box in the lower right corner. of course, everybody will see you log in and change your name, so it's still not stealthy. :) nobody can hide in the chat
Sounds like big brother! LOL
Did ya know that there's a gp after our names when we link from here?
I like the link. I have't been in chats for years, but it was kinda nice again.
I agree...it was kinda neat to see that again...made me miss the days of the old grey room where I would stay up all night just to make it to the top of the list, then I would be satisfied and log off. :)
yeah, the _gp is to signify that the person is coming from the godplace forum. :)
the chat's been around... just moved to different names over the past few years. the-escape.org, then apostolicchat.com for the past few.
The link from here is really convenient. Thanx Jerry! Or B or whoever made it.
I rather personally enjoy watching people log on and log off. Cause then I make a note of the incoming IP addresses and nicks associated with it, so I always know who is who. ;)
My IP changes from wether I am at work or at home. And sometimes I am at my Brothers house. GP is addictive. :hypocrite:
well i cant see it all i see is the white box with the red x.

OOOOOHHHH! A spy!
Mel, if you have dial-up your IP will change anyway. The only ones that stay the same are the DSL connections because they're basically always on whether your computer is or not.
Nope, I dont dial up...I have wireless built into my laptop, and I use the neighbors signal. Everywhere I go there seems to always be a signal...not always a great one, but I normally have one. Except when it is storming outside.

Doesn't matter lol. I can still keep track of what connections are attached to what nicks, no matter how many different computers you log in through or sites. So your not safe at all :)
He knows his spy work. LOL :laughhard:
Still using that script, Kyle? It had some bugs. I should fix it. :up2:
B
EEEEWWWWWWW! Bugs!
Yep I'm still using that script, but if your bug fix includes nerfing it, no thanks lol
Nerfing?
The main bug I remember had something to do with the ini file.
B
Oh yeah, I remember something about that bug.
What's nerfing?
B
Nerfing- It's something only a beanie can do... Its the act of hovering over someones head in a way that is slightly annoying and tilting to one side because of the pressures of the head forcing hair up and out of the sides of the beanie... The bad thing about nerfing is that there is a tendency to get stretched out because of the big head syndrome... REG. (can you tell i totally made that up? I felt like i was writing another nursing paper there for a second! haha. no coorelation... that i am admitting to!)
BTW... why are you complaining beanie? you are in the chat room as much as I am at the moment!

Jill, when have you not known me to complain about something lol. If I'm not complaining, something is wrong lol. I'm in the chat room when I can be, but real life has me at the moment. I graduate college in June and I'm leaving for a trip next week out of state. Going to be in the Washington state area. I was in there last night for a bit, saw two or three new people, but I didn't see any "GP" attached to their names.
Oh and you guys got the definition of nerfing wrong, but I'm in class so I'll explain the real meaning of it later lol.
Edited because i didnt mean it the way it came out. Sorry beanie
i understand, Real life has me at the moment too. it's grueling and stressful... I cant wait to be out of this rat-race.
~ Chel
I don't have a bad reputation Jill.
I've been in there three times and was mildly busy once and dead the other two times, so you're not missing any trouble.

haha!
the chat room dont work for me, it shows i log in but i can never get in a room lol
I haven't used the java client much, but the commands should be the same. You should be able to type
/list
for a list of channels. The most frequently used channel is #the_junction, so just type
/join #the_junction
to get into it. However, I just tried the Godplace java client, and it took me right to the room. How are you trying to get to the chat?
B
did just what you typed here, it used to work now it will log in but never let me go to #the_junction
i typed those commands and nothing happens. i go from GP to get there. it will say i am logged in. it used to automatically take me to that room, now it dont. and i cant get it to let me go there.
Weird. It worked fine for me. Try clearing your cache (or Temporary Internet Files if you're using IE).
B
nah i am a FF freak lol
but i have it so it automatically clears each time i close the browser.
k, I tried it and there was no one from here.... so I left.
