Title: Clownin' around in Arkansas- the Taco/RainbowJingles story
Post by: Roscoe on August 30, 2012, 11:52:56 AM
With a title like that, this thread should go to best seller status and make me famous (er).  :hypocrite: I'm sure Taco will pipe in when he returns to semi-civilization, meaning he has internet service not delivered by turtles....

As everyone knows by now, Lou and I have been the receipiants of a wonderful visit from Taco and RainbowJingles. Taco has had a drawing from the Lord to come preach for us, and things aligned in such a manner as to make it possible. He spoke with his pastor and Brother Papa, and it was done.....

They arrived Tuesday night, after having visited other friends enroute. Not being Mini the Shutterbug, I did not get pics of our meeting. :( . We all met at the Conway Golden Corral- Lou and myself and Chey, Taco, RainbowJingles, and Bro and Sister Papa. ** Note- I was disappointed mightily. Upon our arrival, the Chocolate Fountain of Gooey Goodness, possibly the greatest invention since the light bulb, was flowing freely.
However- in a vicious stroke of meaness obviously intended to limit the amount of damage that I, Roscoe, could inflict on the resteraunt's profit margin, it broke before I could partake. At least they said it broke- I think they were warned by Mini and turned it off.
I consoled myself with Steak, and many fried popcorn shrimps....

After dinner, the girls hightailed it- with Taco's wallet and my Checkbook- to Goodwill, et al. This would be the last we saw of them from 5 ish until after 9 pm... Meanwhile, Rusty and I gave Taco a tour of our little town.
We stayed up until the late hours talking and enjoying one another's company.

Sadly, I had to work yesterday, so the guests were left to fend for themselves.  :-(  I was a little concerned, as Taco had mentioned holding a yard sale in my abscence, and the Clown wanted to sell antique autos.  :o I arrived home relieved to find everything in place.
then came church time....more later....here's the only pic I can get photobucket to work with me on now.....

*Taco- Lord, I REALLY look like a midget next to him *Bro Papa-" Boys, y'all stand like so, that way I'll look slimmer"  :laughhard: *and me.... More coming when photobucket lets me... :smirk2:

After service , we upheld the longstanding Pentecostal tradition of pigging out at Mcdonald's. I felt things were going great and all involved were enjoying the fellowship. Imagine my surprise when RainbowJingles reached over and gave Brother Papa a black eye!

But seriously, RainbowJingles is really nice.  And I know that she would never say anything bad about me.  She is the nicest person that I have ever met.  And I will let her drive Rusty back to Virginia.  And Taco can drive the 'vette.

The sad thing...... I was watching when she did it!  :laughhard: I've got my password on this site remembered where this comes up both as a home page and logged in.I left it on showing her and Taco this thread and gloating... Walked away and came back to a fiendish laugh and a clown typing furiously. :laughhard:

Where was I?!? Oh yeah.... after RainbowJingles, aka The Vicious Vixen of Comedy, had assaulted my pastor and poxed my pastor's wife with pink-i, we reluctantly headed to Casa de Lou et Roscoe for the evening. (We figured we'd better get her moving before she went after other innocent persons)

The four of us enjoyed a pleasant visit before turning in for the night, due to work issues- namely, the issue of me having to go to work. The next morning I left for work, as did Lou, leaving our guests up to their own devices once more. Yes, I know. I am a sorry host.
I might also add I was becoming concerned about Psalms' namesake storm arriving and blowing us all away.

Upon arrival home last evening, we all loaded up in Lou's Caddy, with the girls in the back seat and the guys in our rightful place- leading the charge. Before we could get to town with my leisurly driving style, the back seat passengers began warning of seasickness.
Apparently, they did not enjoy the imitation of a rollercoaster Taco and I were enjoying. Therefore I slowed down to a crawl and proceeded in like an old granny, aka  Purple Fuzzy. :P

We toured Petit Jean- Taco, ONE MORE TIME- that is pronounced "Petty" NOT "Pah-teet" ya illiterate punkin'head.  :pound: You is in the south now, son.
Sadly, due to the rain we didn't get to get out at the overlooks, ect, saving that for the next visit. I had planned a drive to my favorite hole in the wall Italian resturant, but was quickly over-ruled.
It seems that Taco was feeling quite cannibalistic-
(http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/af100/five-oh_photos/2012-08-30182836.jpg)
So away we went to "Mexico" as Chey calls it....it is a little authenic Mexican Resteraunt known as El Penjamo's. While Mexican food as a rule dislikes me, and tries to eat me after I eat it, this IS pretty good. I threw myself on the grenade known as Mexican food for my friends. :hypocrite:

After listening to the Clown speak Spanish, of which I knew not a word, we received our dinners. While waiting though, I took a quick picture of the two nutcases who had driven into the wilderness of Arkansas so bravely...
And in this picture, under the goofy look of the One Who Apparently Bit a Lemon, his shirt bears testimony that he is, after all, an Arkansan at heart.....It appears to say "Ain't". :laughhard:.. And yes, RainbowJingles "Ain't" Is TOO in the dictionary. :P
Then I actually got a good pic of them.
It is apparent that the Clown has probably given LemonBiter problems in the past- a black I maybe?- as he seems to be looking suspiciously down on her... :laughhard:

After dinner, whilst Lou was talking with someone that she knew seated nearby, Chey got a picture made with her new BESTEST friend-
(http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/af100/five-oh_photos/S__8241.jpg)

Upon stepping outside the resturant, we discovered a convienant bench which led to Lou wanting a pic made with her new shopping buddy/music amigo....
(The possible reason for the big grins can be found over their head....FOOD!)  :P

This prompted Chey, who had been enjoying the many puddles of rain in front of the resturant, to demand that SHE be included with the girls, so she was...

Hmmm....Apparently the lemon bite sickness carried over... :P

Then Taco came wandering out of the resturant. In a short time, he'd managed to cause all kinds of grief- mostly in the kitchen area of the place  :fork: - and we figured it was a short time until the hoosegow was his home.  But- Never fear! Roscoe is here! I happen to know a few people in town and am friends with someone Taco will get to know in the future, doubtless... the business of said friend is here....
We were dicussing how we could get a picture of all of us together......Never the shy one, Lady Clown stopped a couple leaving the resturant and persuaded the lady to take a quick picture of all of us together..(http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/af100/five-oh_photos/S__FC40.jpg)

Then, we headed back home. Since Lou had to work the next morning, and it was getting quite late, she reluctantly sad goodbye and went to bed, taking Chey with her.
Myself, RainbowJingles and Taco talked for another hour or so, when the clown left the circus. Taco and I talked on.
Finally, we turned in as well.
This morning, we were reminded that all good things must come to an end. I picked up Lou from work for lunch, and Taco and RJ met us at the local McDonalds. All too quickly, an hour passed and Lou had to return to work.
Our guests bid their goodbyes and headed back east...thus ending another small GP meetup.

Good thing you clarified.  With the word BAIL on the glass behind Taco, I figured you had to use your police connections to pull some strings and get him out. (http://gfxlovers.com/smilies/imgs/girly/girly025.gif)

As a final quick comment- Once again, I have been personally blessed to meet someone(s) whose acquantance I first made online, on this website. Once more I am astounded by the genuiness of the people on this board. Once more, my life is enriched.
Thus far, everyone I have had the pleasure to meet from here has been just as I thought they would be- kind honest people I am proud to know and love.

Taco's sermon Wednesday night was right on the money and a blessing to our little church. We had several out sick, but had two first time visitors who prayed and worshipped with us. RainbowJingles was used of God with her music, and sang and played an awesome song that moved me to tears and really seemed to open the door to God for worship.
Prior to the sermon, if I had needed any confirmation of the caliber of person Taco is, I received it when I walked into the prayer room where he had gone while I was practicing a bit on the bass with the musicians.
I walked in to a wall of praise and prayer. One of those feelings that when you walked into the room, you just felt God wrap His Spirit around you like a blanket. It was awesome. Truely, my spirit identified with my brother...

In closing- for the third time, y'all stand- myself and Lou absolutly loved this couple. No doubt God will mightly use them in the future, and I hope to be a part  of it, if no other way by being a prayer partner. I sincerely hope that they will return to my area many times and would not complain if they did so permenantly. This, incidently, is apparently a sentiment shared by Bro Papa, who informed me that I was to "lose your jumper cables if their car don't start. Don't enable them to leave." :laughhard:

It was hard seeing them leave. I am proud to call them Brother and Sister, and if any older folks worry about the future of Pentecost- with folks like these, it's in good hands for years to come. God Bless...

Jason and Elona are some of my favorite people on the planet. :) And since they seem to hit it off with Roscoe and Mrs. Roscoe so well... well, I am fully anticipating adding two more people to my "favorite people on the planet" list when I finally get to meet them. ;)

Finally, I am recovering from riding several thousand miles in the last three weeks in a car that wasn't exactly made for a big and tall guy.

It was great to see my brother and his family. They were great host!! Now it's time for them to head our way for a visit! I now have plenty of ways to blackmail Roscoe into coming. lol

You wont meet nicer people than the Moses clan.

I will try not to mention the roadblock he tried to setup to keep us from leaving the state though or the curse I was told was placed on our car. lol

P.S. I wasn't the one who needed the bail bondsman.  We will keep that information between us though. :-P

It was also great getting to meet Isaac on the way out. I just wish we would have had more time for that visit. I hope it is not long before we can see all of ya'll again!

Numbers 22:12 - And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.  :hypocrite:

Next time y'all should cut through here on your way down.  Our little town is at the crossroads of two really popular highways, and though we're a bit off the interstate we're still on the way to your destination.  As much as RainbowJingles likes biscuits, she oughta try my grandma's biscuits.  With some sausage from a country butcher shop around here, some country eggs from a local supplier, some pear preserves from our pear tree... MmmmHMM, you gotta come down and try a real country breakfast.

As of yet uncertain....will depend greatly on whether Chey stays in the private school or not- decision is not made due to factors out of my control, got a teacher we really like possibly leaving- and how the family finances look. It won't be before April though, I am reasonably certain.
And no idea where- we may head to Gatlinburg area, or to the coast, either of which would put us near you. I DO know that it won't be Branson. We are burned out there.

LOL. I got enough of Kansas City when I was growing up. My grandmother lived in Independence and my aunt still does. I hated that place...no offense. Of course, Grandma didn't exactly live in the nice part of town.

I will question your taste and your sanity.  It's nothing but tourist traps.  Just saying.  But if you go to Gatlinburg and do NOT stop by here, given one of the most optimal paths you could take from where you are to there goes right through here, I will never forgive you.  :demand:

I suspect Gatlinburg is Tennesee's version of Branson, but I've never been there. PigeonForge area has numerous car events I'd like to take in too, though. And my New york Family always is after us to come out there....

KANSAS CITY

I know it's not probable but I just had to put it out there!
LOL. I got enough of Kansas City when I was growing up. My grandmother lived in Independence and my aunt still does. I hated that place...no offense. Of course, Grandma didn't exactly live in the nice part of town.

Oh, I don't live in Kansas City.  The schools are super ghetto.  I'm in a suburb.  Independence has some rough spots too, you're right.

Pigeon Forge isn't quite as bad.  Almost, but not quite.  And they have this one really good go-kart track, you'll be able to recognize it by the big spiral tower you drive up.  Don't go to the official NASCAR track though, it's a big letdown - they shake talcum powder on the road to reduce traction, so you skid more with less real speed.  Lame!

And while you're there, stop by the Russel Stover factory outlet and pick up a few of those 3-pound boxes of factory seconds.  You never know what you're getting per box, but it's always good.  :D  Get each box from a different area of the display, don't get any two boxes that are sitting together.

Car shows in the Pigeon Forge area are AWESOME. If you are a fan of a certain make of car you should check out some of the car things that go on at Bristol Motor Speedway. The super Chevy show is coming up soon. They also have a weekend for Ford and Mopar. Oh and the track is less than a mile from where I'm living

No way, bro. Our legislative body is in session from January through March. No one who works at the State Capitol is granted vacation in those months. April would be the earliest, and May most likely...

I'm a fan of nearly any car. :biglaugh: I'd love to go to Super chevy, since MOST of my passionate affairs with automobiles are with that namebrand. In fact, I've never owned a Ford, :nono:  even though Mini tried to out me on that by showing where Cadillac was once a Ford company. :smirk2:

You and me both.  :smirk2: We have a "part-time" legislature. Ostensibly. Truthfully, though, they milk the system majorly. I think a Representative Salary is around $15K a year, Senator not much more.....BUT- they draw per diem if they live over 50 miles from the Capitol, and are allowed to bill the state for an office, even if they use a closet in their house. Upshot of it is, I know of more than one young representative who lives off of it fulltime with no other job. They can and do draw as much as $50k+ OVER the base salary.
Ideally, they would convene every two years for three months, do the business and go home. An occasional meeting throught the year and done. Then they decided they would meet every other year on fiscal matters and on the off years they would meet for legislative matters.
Buncha crooks racketing the system, for the most part, in my opinion. :laughhard:

By way of Tennessee.

I'd come over there, but currently my finances are at low ebb.  My own fault though.  I have enough, but not enough extra to go haring off on trips.

And besides, my insanity would probably scare off everyone in the city.

To be honest- that is probably one of the more likely scenarios, if the budget allows. Lou and Chey have never saw the ocean, or a beach, and P-cola has been in my mind for some time- every since I blazed through there on two wheels years before marriage......

Know what ya mean....Lou and I have cut back, trying to pay some stuff off....How come it takes no time to let your guard down, be a little bit irresponsible, but forever to dig your way back outta debt?!?
Still, God has blessed us WAY more than we deserve, and I am thankful.

There is a singles retreat in Gatlinburg, I think it is in November. I thought the place looked pretty, the one time I stopped for (be shocked) _coffee_ on the way up north, years ago. I may go to Viola AR or Alexandri LA next month.

Jason, did he put out any additional 'stop sticks' to try and prevent your leaving? :)

You never did say what time church starts...  Guess if they show up early they can hit the prayer room though. :thumbsup2:

Thought I'd chip in a cent of opinion... Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge is tons better than Branson, especially where lodging is concerned. Also! Branson is more "show-y" than Gatlinburg area. It seems like Branson is more limited in variety of activities. I was trying to find a cabin for our anniversary in Branson, but I finally gave up. Gatlinburg has the market cornered on ease of lodging! (And I like Branson, btw.. LOVE Silver Dollar City!)

Pastor's wife has been under the weather and I've kinda filled in some for him which has kept my plate full. I'm sorry for not specifically calling you, I feel bad now.

You were busy. I had to make an unexpected and perhaps temporary shift to a different cell #, so would not have gotten a text at the one you have. I didn't check in here for 2-3 days. It would have been nice, though,  if someone had tried a text, or FB, or message here or email, but I'll live.

Truthfully, I've begun to feel like something of an outsider on Godplace for a while, anyway. Perhaps it is my own fault, for not being a more active and present friend.

Be well.
