Title: Pedal to the floor in Sharing 504!
Post by: Lynx on June 07, 2016, 10:40:00 PM
Seen at the city limits of a town near here:
"Speed limit - FLOORBOARD!"

I've never tested that theory while driving through the town, but it is amusing nonetheless. The sign has been up for years so I guess they haven't had anybody making trouble because of it.

For those that don't have fb, Taco's Mama passed away this morning. Be in prayer for him and Elona. He's trying to get things in order to go home to preach the funeral..

Losing any parent is rough. :sadbounce:
Been a long day. Went over to a friend's house for a bit, then came home. Lou has picked up a part time job at a local restaurant  because she wants extra  spending money.
Funny how she can have people begging her to come work for them, but I tried for 6 months to find a part time gig and couldn't get a call back.:smirk:
Go figure.  I didn't want to work more anyway. I just wanted more money for my car hobby. :freaky:

That's why I prefer a computer hobby. They are cheaper and the old ones don't sit around in the yard - they sit around in the room where nobody sees them. :D

Hey Ruby, a thought - if this salsa is going big-business, where's the paypal? I know they charge the seller per transaction but usually it's worth it. And are you going ebay, amazon or both?

But- your computers aren't used as a decorative component. My old cars are, and are often used as photo props too. :hypocrite:
Lord I will be glad when today is over. It's Friday, and I have ALL week off next week for cars, car, and more cars. And Uncles. And, of course,I get to host Sasquatch in his annual appearance in my area. I intend to use him to get handicapped parking and other age-related benefits.   (He got a discounted meal the other day due to a senior discount, for those of you not on facebook. I told him it was understandable- lack of hair on top, abundance of hair in the ears, complete lack of style in clothing- old age. Completely understandable. He was NOT pleased that I pointed that out.)

You live in Arkansas.  Which is proof enough that you are handicapped already.

And I think the age related benefits were for my wife, she just doesn't want to admit it...muhahahahaha

Right now we're invoicing through paypal, but we're working toward using a program that will integrate inventory, bookkeeping, and shipping all in one. Ebay and Amazon? Pffft. Neither. We're going into grocery stores. :D

Well, okay, I MIGHT do that, but.... I'd kind of rather not. For now, I plan to market primarily in the northwest... stores that are known for carrying local products. (We'll keep selling to individuals across the U.S. that want to order direct, but I want to keep moving more and more toward stores carrying our salsa, so I won't have as much bookkeeping to keep track of. lol And hopefully, the business will grow faster that way, too.) Then, as the Pirate Ringo's Salsa name starts getting known, we'll grow to meet demand in other states. Oh, and we do have our own website (not fully functioning for salsa yet, since we can't sell to anyone except friends and family until we're fully licensed, but still, we have the domain) so we can continue to sell via that, as well.

:hi: I've been paroled! Or furloughed. Or something. I don't have to think about parolees for a week....
Gonna sleep in tomorrow, then probably do a bit more work on the yard, and run around in the old truck. My change out the 02 sensor too...I think he's running a bit rich, and I've had the sensor in for a week but no time.

Ruby: Well, a friend of a friend of a friend told me that her friend's friend wanted some... :teeth:  Guess they have heard that one at the licensing place.

When y'all start the factory going, make sure a family member is head of quality control. I HATE it when a really good brand of something goes pro, then goes cheap, then starts tasting like every other brand on the shelf.

Ok Ruby...settle this for me, I've got two jars of salsa from you so far, and they are dark maroon almost brown in color and it's pretty spicy...(well the first jar was, the second one is still unopened.) and Barb got two jars and she said that the darker one was the hot hot one she ordered...but the lighter red one was the mild? I told her the one like mine must be regular heat and the lighter red must be hot hot...

Which is it? And what is this other one you talk about? The 8 (or was it 6) something sauce...

How many flavors or heats are available?

BTW...I finished my first jar yesterday and I'm trying VERY VERY hard NOT to open the second...because I need to eat the other two jars of my cousins salsa too...hers isn't canned and I'm afraid it will go bad if I don't hurry and eat it. Lol

PLUS, I was trying to wait till we had a thing at the church and I wanna give samples to try and boost your clientele. So I wanted to save my newest jar for that.
Title: Re: Pedal to the floor in Sharing 504!
Post by: MelodyB on June 11, 2016, 09:53:53 PM
OOOO! What if you sent me, 6 jars of the regular flavor, or whatever it is I have, and I take them with me and let ppl sample MY jar, and I'll sell the others to them right there...I can divide the shipping cost up for the number of jars you send and add to the price and you could send in a flat rate box. So the shipping would be cheaper per jar and I could sell them all and give the people cheaper shipping...get them hooked and they will pay later.

I could give your FB info and order forms. Lol

In fact...could you make up and send order forms out to distribute with sauce?

I KNOW I could sell some here. I even know the owner of the local grocery chain I used to work at...he buys local made goods too...

Just some stuff to think about. ;)

Melody - LOL!! I want to say yes, yes, yes, and yes, to most of that, BUT.... we're not licensed yet. :P To answer your questions... the darker red is the Original PRS flavor/heat, and I would say it's on the warm end of medium. The lighter red color that Barb has is the mild prototype (called Pieces of Eight) and that recipe he's still playing with. Pieces of Eight is the one I fell in love with. Not just because it's more mild heat, but the flavor is absolutely stunning. (I'm not just saying that 'cause Pirate Ringo is my hubby, either. It's seriously my favorite salsa I've ever tried.) Not too many people have tried that one yet (mostly a few local friends) and we haven't got the recipe set yet, but it's close. The other problem with PoE is that it's considerably more expensive to make. He's talked about just keeping that one as a family and friends only thing, just for special occasions or something because of that. But.... I don't know. It's seriously amazing, and if I can come up with a cheaper supplier for some of the ingredients, maybe we could make it work. He may very well be right about it being cost-prohibitive though. It's a lot more time consuming too, which is going to KILL profits when we go to the co-packer. We shall see. Right now we're losing money on every jar, but that's to be expected at this point in the game. :)

No kidding. Once we can get the recipe tested for pH levels and such, and get it tested at the state, we're planning to be present at the co-packer for that very reason. It's not going to be the same as it is making it from home - it can't be. But we're going to keep it as close as possible. Maybe we should hire you for quality control. ;) :D

Ya'll are killing me with the salsa. I WANT some. BUT- I have upcoming unpleasantness that requires me to run extensively. And not only am I a tightwad, I also will sit down and down the whole jar and two bags of calorie laden chips, chased with a nice drink, in one sitting..
Thus causing me more weight to carry. When I get done with the Academy though....that jar and bags o chips are MINE.

In sharing, I got up this morning, got a haircut, and bought a buffer and car wax. An hour later Rusty looked great and the buffer went back to Walmart because it quit working on the last fender, making me dig out the old buffer.
Then Hayden and Chey talked me into a roadtrip. An hour later, we were at the little Ozark waterfall swimming hole. They swam for an hour or so when white trash came along. Why some folks think that it's necessary to drink alcohol, cuss and smoke cigarettes while in one of God's most beautiful places is beyond me. It's almost like a church for me- so peaceful and quiet it's like God's outdoor cathedral and I don't want to even speak loud, silly as that is. These buffoons had no such convictions, so we left and spent the next hour or so on back roads until we found a hidden tiny campground on a Ozark mountain creek. Perfect for our first teardrop adventure!
After the kiddos swam a while longer there, we met Lou for dinner at CICI's buffet pizza, and I got drug into the Shoe Carnival, where I discovered that the Carnival's fool/clown of the day was me, after having to buy shoes for the family. Domino and me were the only ones that were not treated- we's still havin' to bare-foot hoof it.:pound:

From roughly 9am this morning until 12ish, I had bad close to a perfect morning. The kiddos wanted to go back to swim, and I needed to "test-pull" the camper, so we headed back to the little mountain stream. Only about 3 feet deep or so, the water is so clear you can see the rocks on the bottom....and it has quite the current. And it was COLD at first.
We parked and set up, and even I trundled out into the water with my old jeans and shirt. Just got out there like a fat old hippo, and sat down up to my neck in the shade while the kiddos played in the rapids.

It's my new favorite places. No one else there, other than the group of canoeist? that paddled through.
As I sat and soaked, with the trickling sound of the water, the frogs croaking and the kids squealing, all I could think of is how blessed I am, not only to live in this wonderful country, but to have the time to spend like this with those I love. I just wished Lou would've went, but she didn't want to. I said a prayer that the kids would always have the opportunity and would take the time to enjoy this in their lives.

I was at lunch today with friends and I was talking about your salsa, and I got a couple of ladies very interested...but I've run into a snag...is the salsa gluten free? I have a salsa lover who loves the smokey flavored kind, and I almost had her sold...until I realized she is on a very limited diet and she needs to know if it's gluten free. Even if she has seasonings with a HINT of gluten, she has reactions. She's very sensitive.

Yes. I'm still alive. I've been sick off and on for 3 weeks now. It's all sinus *Oh my, I need to improve my vocabulary*. After finally breaking down and getting some sudafed it seems to be breaking up. I just hate the way that stuff makes me feel.

Been at my summer job for over a week now. Just have to keep telling myself it's just for summer.

This week I have my parents dog with me while they are off to the beach. It's like taking care of 2 hyped up children.

Brandon's car is tore up and thankfully my mom let me borrow hers for the week at least until we can figure out what exactly it is and if/when we can afford it.

:hi: Got up this morning, and cleaned the yard up. Then backed the camper into the carport and tore it half apart to fix somethings that annoyed me, and put windows in. I think I can call it done, except for some minor trim work. While I was installing the windows, a friend gave me two gallons of Polyurethane, so I gave it two coats, and then Chey painted the interior a pretty "Hawaiian Teal" color she picked out. Very 1950's and appropriate.
A queen size air mattress fits in it...but the girls have taken it over and are staying in it tonight.

Has it become so routine that you're already planning for a C-section? o.O

I remember Steven Wright saying he was born that way. He said there were no side effects... but when he leaves a room he always goes out through the window.

Chel, it's about time. ;) :D

Isaac, no, but unfortunately, because Teddy and the tiny one are only going to be 16 months apart, there's a good chance of rupturing my incision if I go into labor. :/ I'd prefer that not happen. I never wanted to have a C section at all, with any kids, but last time we had no choice, and this time.... well, we kind of have no choice again. :/ But it's okay. No, I don't WANT another surgery. But I'd rather baby got here in a way that was safe for both of us. :) Aaaand at least this time I know what to expect so I'm not completely terrified like I was last time. lol Besides, between God and the best doctor in the area, I think both I and the tiny one are going to be just fine. :)

Ruby: Salsa arrived. How long did it take you to pack that? It sure was packed shatter-proof though, I gotta say.  I guess you heard about the elderly man who was mailing a package, and he was obviously a former USPS employee because he wrote on it, "Fragile. Throw underhand."

I got all the jars disinterred though, and I tried a bit of both kinds on the spot. I tried the mild first, so my mouth wouldn't be burnt-out when I tried it. Then I tried just a bit of the original. Gotta say I like the flavor of the original better, but the heat was a bit much. I know if you reduced the heat it would change the balance of peppers, thus the flavor, so a mild version of the original is not an option. It was good though. Uncle Fred said aunt Lucy is cooking chicken tonight so he'll give the salsa a try on chicken.

That original is sneaky though. The heat is a slow-burn kind. I initially thought, "Hey this isn't so bad." Then the slow-burn caught up with me.

One thought: Take a bit of salsa and a bit of sour cream and you have a wonderful dip for fries. Or tater tots or onion rings or fried green beans or about anything fried, or for celery sticks or carrot sticks or... anything dippable that is not fruit.

Salsa and sour cream also goes really good on an omelette. Just so you know. I knew this before I got your salsa though. I'm gonna have an omelette for breakfast tomorrow, just because.

Well. Been a busy, fun week so far. And Sam the 52 has scored some brake and clutch pedal pads, and a shiny chrome emblem  for his hood. Sad that I kept looking through the swap meet for parts for a truck that I shall apparently never own again because  I sold it to a selfish greedy gut truck hog. :P
I scored a SWEET seat for Rusty though, and I may have found the perfect solution for  hiding the air conditioning I'm installing in the teardrop,  if I can just catch the guy at his stall...don't know why he'd rent a space, haul stuff up to sell, then never be around the space to take money. :pound:

So apparently my father in law has surgery this morning. Brandon forgot to tell me til yesterday that is was today.

Also I can already tell that this dog situation is not going to work out. 1 dog, yes. Going to get his rebellious, hard headed, refusing to be housetrained black lab with Whisk, no. He has done NOTHING to help out with Whisk [and Huxley-my parents dog who is here til Saturday] for the past week. He even forgot to put them up Sunday morning when i asked if it was ok to leave them in the yard to play while he worked on his car. Dreama [my neighbor/landlady] put them up when she got home from church because she got here before me.   I can do 1 dog [and even Hux because he's a chill dog] but I'm NOT doing 1 dog and that pig headed brat of his.

Rant over. I have to go to work. Where we fry a lot of stuff. Lol.

Isaac - I didn't work a freight job for nothin'.  :biglaugh:  And while I know the current packaging methods are unorthodox (since we don't have pre-formed boxes and bubble bags yet) I also know how to pack fragile items (mostly) safely. Basically, if you put "Fragile" on anything, it means "throw it harder". You're better off to not put any labels, and just make sure you pack correctly. ;)

Wore slap out. Will post more later...

Well. I'll just modify this instead of typing a new post. :P
Been a busy week. Uncle Ron came down and we enjoyed our usual running around/drooling at the carshow. Wasn't very many Dr Peppers drank though. We shifted mainly to bottled water because it was so hot.
Then Chellebelle, Germ, and family came over Friday. We started off by going to my favorite hidden campsite I spoke of and spent a couple hours in the water....AFTER Germ and I chased down the women. Apparently, Ole Rusty drug the camper quite well and at some point we got ahead of them a bit. When we turned off the paved highway, they didn't see us and we watched as they sailed by, oblivious to us. We chased them up hills and around curves, dragging the camper for about 5 miles.. :biglaugh:
But when we got back to the campsite we had an amazing time. I was semi-threatened  by Chellebelle though. I'm pretty sure the only way to take it was a threat. Or a warning.... :o  Germ began talking about building a teardrop like mine for Sam and camping in general, and I heard.."ROSCOE! First it was old trucks, then radios....and NOW..."  :pound:
I get the distinct impression that Sasquatch has successfully transferred the blame for HIS hobbies onto my back, although I'm innocent as usual. :hypocrite:

We all had a blast though, and the guys went back after the carshow yesterday and played in the stream couple miles up the road, where we found a swimming hole so deep Germ couldn't touch the bottom. Cold, clear mountain streams...ah, they're awesome.
Maybe Germ will post some pics...if he doesn't I'll try to upload some...

I just can't believe the week is already over. :sadbounce: Now I'll spend the next two weeks getting caught up.

I'm still full of boogers and coughing.

My sister is coming up today so we are all congregating at my parents for Father's Day.

Dad has chemo this week.

Brandon's car is still tore up but we have ordered the part.

Hux is gone home and I'm pretty sure Whisk has done nothing but sleep since he went home yesterday.

Quote from: The Purple Fuzzy on June 21, 2016, 01:19:52 AMWhat's up Mel?

I'm just having blah days. I get up and go to work and come home and eat and sleep and get up and go to work...I miss my Mom so bad. She was so aggravating...but I had something in. My life to DO, to take care of...a purpose really. Without my parents to take care of, I feel so lost and alone. I mean I'm taking care of ME, and I'm doing ok, so far, but I just feel BLAH.

I like my job, but with the hours I'm getting I'm just barely gonna survive, and I don't want that. I don't know wether to try to find another and switch jobs again so soon, or stick it out and hope that my hours will bump up like she promised me in the first place.

This may sound selfish, but what I would really like is a husband who had a GOOD job that could support both of us and I could stay home and take care of the house and have dinner ready and spoil him.

I would spoil him so much! Lol

My ultimate goal or dream is to be a stay at home housewife/mother. But it really doesn't look like that's ever gonna happen. Even if there was a man come along...idk if I can trust him after the Allen mess. I loved him and I was sure (and so was my Pastor and others) that we were perfect for each other, and we really were, HE was the one who stepped out of the will of God and went astray. If he hadn't, we would still be together.

So how can I trust that won't happen again.

Ok...too deep and personal for 3am. I gotta get ready for work. Lol

I'm ok. Just say a prayer for me.

Mel are you saying you don't have anything in life to be enthusiastic about?

Not exactly. I'm happy that I can survive on my own again...even though up till now I've had help. I really don't know how to explain how I feel. I've just been blah. That's the best I got to explain.

Gonna try to go to the college this afternoon after work and talk to financial aid and check out class requirements.

Maybe if I get a busier routine and get to school I won't have time for the Blahs.

On break at work now. I wish I could change the channel on the TV...but we are only allowed to watch ESPN, CNN or TWC. And the guys around here would really be upset if I changed it from ESPN since its Final Four week. That's all they talk about around here. Lebron Lebron Lebron.

Lol

Morning, all. Today I'm thankful for my bonus that will be on this paycheck. Very timely, since I spent $400 this morning for tires....but that'll outfit the 'vette for a year or so, and fix the tire that died on the teardrop.
So much to do...
Hope everyone has a great day, we're gonna sweat to death here. Maybe over 100 degrees.

School sounds like it could be a good plan though. I really don't see any reason as to why they would deny you aid. Let me know how it goes!

I am not able to get financial aid for the CNA classes I want to take, not because of me, but because they don't cover those classes. Plus they are at the other college about an hour and a half away...and I need $600 to pay for it.

I'm currently trying to find another way. There are other places that offer the classes/certification, I just have to find them.

The college was little to no help today. :smirk2:

Dad had his 1st day of chemo for this round today. All his bloodwork came back great again. We have 2 more days.

My hair is no longer pink. I'll miss it but I will NOT miss the upkeep. I'm actually back to what I remember my natural color to be. We'll see if my memory still serves me in a few weeks when my roots pop out. lol.

I am totally not haing a stellar morning. Slept poorly last night with weird dreams that I don't remember, just that they were weird. Then I had to look for my keys for 45 minutes before discovering they were on the guest bed, under some clothes I need to hang up. Bah. On top of that, I just feel kinda cruddy today. :pound: and it's church night, which I need no doubt, but will have to push myself to make it..

:hi: Morning all. Thank GOD it is Friday.  Gonna take it easy and do some much needed work and lounging around the house, then Saturday night we have a youth service at church. Glad that this is a "no plans" weekend. The last couple weeks have been booked....
And in sharing, I hate some people. Someone hacked one of our seldom used cards that we have been trying to pay off. Fortunantly the card company declined it because it was from an area that I don't frequent, for $770. Then I find they have hit me for a $49 charge on xbox, a $79 Microsoft and another $49 Microsoft charge- none of which we have made. Disputed and cancelled that card. :pound:

I have yet to get out of my jammies today. Seeing as it is 830 pm, it's probably not going to happen.

Bella has not been as atrocious as I expected her to be. She has yet to use our floors as her personal bathroom but she also refuses to listen to me.

I go back to work tomorrow and oddly I'm looking forward to it. It's a welcome distraction to my dad's condition.

I haven't melted yet, but I've been a bit preoccupied taking care of sick kiddos. Blah. Not even sure how long it's been since I've been at church. Two weeks, perhaps?? Can't remember.

Kickstarter isn't going through, it appears. We have three days left to reach goal, and we're at 3% funding.   But it's okay. We prayed that God would open the right doors, and close the wrong ones, and.... well, recovering from a C section smack in the middle of having to ship out all the rewards/incentives would have been a small nightmare. But He knew that. We plan to just keep moving forward as we were, and if our client base seems big enough by next summer to try again.... I dunno; maybe we'll try a relaunch. We shall see. We'll get there eventually, with or without Kickstarter. It'll just take us a bit longer without it. :)

I spoke too soon about husband's horrible dog.   she decided my closet rug was her personal potty as well as an old pillow near the desk in our living room. She's officially on probation. She has 2 weeks and if nothing changes, she's going back to grandma's house. Whisk has decided since Bella won't listen, then she doesn't either......

Came to check on dad after work. Please continue praying for him. Each round of chemo is harder and harder on him. He said today his chest has hurt all day like his tumor are trying to escape and find somewhere else to grow. I have no idea where I get my flair for the dramatics.......

Ruby: Sorry to hear that. Perhaps more advertising next go-round?

Bobby: Sorry to hear about that too. Some might think me paranoid but I only keep one debit card, linked to a checking account, and only as much in the account as I plan to spend. And overdraft protection is off - I don't want them draining $300 I don't have just because the bank wants to "protect" me from bouncing checks.

Oh, and in other news... You said Mini is copying your hobbies one by one. I'm sure you have heard that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. :teeth:

Ruby, Fuzzy, Chel... anybody else who knows anything about baking, I need some help. I need a chocolate crust that won't dissolve into whatever I'm baking on top of it.

See, I've been fiddling around with baked chocolate pudding lately. Same recipe as chocolate pudding on the stove top, but bake it in the oven. So I wanted to put a crust under it. Everything I try dissolves into the pudding mixture when I bake it. Chocolate pudding before cooking seems to be just too thin, it seeps down into whatever is under it.

And yes I have tried baking the crust and THEN baking the pudding on top of it. Still doesn't work.

I didn't sleep well last night. I tossed and turned. Flipped and flopped like a fish outta water.

A day off with no people, no noise, no distractions sounds nice. New(ish) boss is back from RI and he's here this morning hooping and hollering like a banshee. He's just so talkative, and so loud, and ACK. My previous She boss was soooooo quiet like abnormally. Such an adjustment to make for me. He was in RI ALL of last week, the peace and quiet was bliss.

Three-day weekend coming up though! Also doing community service in Habitat For Humanity's ReStore on Saturday.
I need 5 hours for my National Society for Leadership & Success leadership award. It's the last piece I need to get a $1,000 award.

Also applied for several remote/telecommute part-time jobs over the weekend to get some extra monies. Just struggling with it all. Rent's about to go up too, causing me major internal distress.

Dad had a bad weekend. He's starting to feel some better but there are a LOT of naps in his life right now.

Husband and I went to my home church this weekend. I've been praying about going back. It's my home church after all. I was surprised that Brandon voluntarily went with me. He did admit prior to service that he doesn't like any church because he feels conviction the whole time he's there. After service and going to take care of my dad, we talked on the way home and he said he could get used to going there with no prompting from me. I'm taking it as an answer to my prayers.

Also Brandon has decided that Mel just needs to move up here. She hasn't budged yet though.

His dog has thankfully stopped relieving herself in my closet, but I've been told she barks the entire time both of us are gone.

Sandra, what would it take to convince Clarence he needs to smoke chipotles, etc, and become our supplier?? :D

Just in case anyone here wants the info (and isn't on the PRS FB page) we have a few jars of all three heats/flavors on the shelf right at the moment. I don't think that's ever happened before. LOL So if you want/need some, tell me quick. ;)

Feeling a little weirded out right now. There's an individual who left church a while back under some pretty yucky circumstances, but they love C's salsa. When they found out via FB that he's finally selling it, they started promoting it, and I got a message earlier today saying they have a customer who wants to buy some. They want to know if I'll ship some to them.   Uh, most local people just pick-up, but whatever. It feels.... odd. You don't want to be around church anymore, you walked away from a bunch of people who love you, and you want to pretend nothing's happened and buy salsa from me?? Awkward. I wish we were already in stores locally so I could just tell him to go buy one off the shelf. lol

Teddy is still acting pretty grumpy. So out of character for my usually happy baby. I'm assuming he's still not feeling well.

I can't wait to try the other two heats!

And on the Friday topic...I'm NOT looking forward to Friday THIS week... Work has been blissfully SSSSLLLLLOOOOWWWW these last couple weeks of the month, and since Friday is the first, and the third is on Sunday, EVERYONE will get their goverment checks and such on Thursday at midnight...that means they will be hitting the fast food for breakfast and make us busy. And something is wrong with our air conditioning in the back and I have been pouring sweat the last few days, and that's with it not being busy. I can't imagine when we actually have to hustle!

But, I'm not really complaining. The Lord has blessed me with this job and I am making it on my own now. I really like the job too, dispite the heat and the crazy first-of-the-month people.

We will also be slammed this weekend but not because of the 1st. It's because it's the 4th on Monday and our diner is located 1.5ish miles from the lake and the public boat dock. I was warned that last year they were lined out the door, across the porch, and into the parking lot. People were apparently parking along the highway.

Ruby-As someone who has been in and out of church for various reasons, I can assure you it is awkward on their end as well. Just roll with it and maybe it'll be a way for them to reconnect to some church people. You never know.

Service last night was awesome. I'm so glad we decided to go back. I even had a good conversation with my ex and his wife [who I LOVE] last night and it wasn't awkward at all. Brandon got home from work and asked if I'd gone to church there. When I said yes, he said he was glad because that's where he wants to go! Woo!!

For us Saturday workers, Friday just doesn't hold that same pizzazz.

Dad is feeling so much better! Yay! I went by their house after work today. We were talking about our plans to go to Michigan the beginning of August. It's been 11 years since I've seen that part of my family. Plus my parents were awesome and gave me a pack of toilet paper and bough me a pizza. [It's a really horrible week for us financially.]

Brandon should be finishing up our landlady/neighbors porch this weekend. Also we will be finishing up some odd jobs for her mom. Then it'll be onto the next job for her in exchange for rent money.

Also, Brandon is already talking about being excited for church Sunday!!

Hey! Ya can't blame me for anything! I is innocent....at least  until proven guilty. :teeth:

So, got up early this morning.  Chey and Boyband, aka Hayden- he got his nickname because he loves to grease his hair up in fashion that looks for all the world like a 1990s boyband- wanted to go prowling around in Rusty. We put a few miles on him. While 3 miles from nowhere on a dirt road on the mountains, Rusty pulls to the left. I stop and hear hissing...yep. nearly flat. No one anywhere around, no spare, and no jack. :pound: We limped along with a near flat those 3 miles, until we found a tiny country store. Bought their last tire plug kit that had probably hung on the wall for 20 years  and a kind Samaritan used his air tank to air it up. .
That was a close one.
And for the last 4 hours I've been mowing.  And decluttering..

The kids coaxed me into taking them camping last night. Borrowed a spare tire from Kim, just in case. Nearly to the campsite, I rounded a curve and heard a "thump". Tire jumped out of Rusty's shallow bed and disappeared into the underbrush. Looked last night until dark, the went back and looked this morning for a hour or better. Stupid thing vanished into thin air. Now I have to  1) tell kim I lost her wheel and tire and 2) replace it with another spare I had, and 3) go to the junkyard to find a replacement. She won't be happy. Neither am I.
And to make matters worse, after setting up and them swimming for a bit, around 9 o'clock they decided they didn't want to camp after all, so I wound up de-camping and go home. Lord.

News from my corner of the net:

I tried a new idea for dessert. The church was my guinea pig because we had a church dinner today. I took the crust from a fudge revel bar recipe, but instead of oats I ground them into oat flour. Then I put some chocolate pudding on top of that, but I doubled the eggs and added some cream cheese to the mix, then I threw in a bag of chocolate chips just for fun. Then I baked the whole mess, let it cool, then put some whipped cream and chocolate on top of that.

The crust turned out to be a bit much. Next time I do it with half the crust and twice the pudding.

Linux Mint 18 is out! Hooray!  This means nothing to normal people, but to a nerd it means a must-download. Unfortunately I blew through my 5-gig-per-month faster than a friend of mine blows through a speed limit, so my data flow is severely restricted right now. Hooray for bit torrents that don't care about interruptions! I'll get the 1.7 gigabyte system file sometime tomorrow morning, according to my torrent manager.

After church dinner I got home... and realized I had left a flash drive at church that I had to have. Le sigh. Went back to church and it was a good thing I did go back to get that flash drive, because someone had left the fellowship hall door unlocked.

I'm glad it wasn't one of those low-profile flash drives. If you lose one of those, good luck! "Let's see... was it in this computer, or that one, or did I leave it in the computer in the sound booth...?"

I was dragging so much and almost decided to skip church yesterday. Last minute I got dressed and went. It was one of those services where you feel like the pastor has read your mail so to speak.

We are almost finished with that blasted porch! Today we are going to do yard work for Ms Wilma then to my FIL's house for a cookout. Tonight we are meeting up with friends from church for the city fireworks.

Went to Ms. Wilma's. Finished up some planting for her and painted her steps. Went ahead and watered her flowers for her as well since she's not feeling well today. As we were leaving she went above and beyond to bless us financially. We can now pay our electric, a credit card, and get some groceries and put gas in our vehicles. I'm so glad I decided to really buckle down with my tithe. I told husband I had to tithe from the amount given today and he looked at me like I was crazy.

I currently have 11 bug bites. Hope I don't get Zika virus!

Plus we had to replace the seal on our toiley. Now there will be no leaking or that uncomfortable rocking because the prior bolts were too short! Woo-hoo!

I am not easy to surprise or amaze, but something happened today that blew my mind!

Many a moon ago - about 10 years worth of moons ago, in fact - I used to work at a factory that currently is not in business here. For a short time we had a coworker there who was... well, I won't say what kind of church he went to, but it was well known for being strict about things that every other church doesn't even consider an issue. This guy was always looking for a debate. I mean actively looking; he would continually say things to bait people into arguments about the church standards he wanted to argue about. He was forever disparaging others for not believing as he did, and he made it very clear that the reason he was putting them down was because they didn't believe as he did.

I would always deflect the impending arguments for two reasons. One, I didn't think they would profit anything. "A man convinced against his will/is of his own opinion still" you know. The second, more important reason is because I remembered something Paul said. He was talking about people who believe certain things are bad and people who don't. He said if someone believes something is a sin, but that something is perfectly fine, if the man does it believing it is a sin then it is a sin to him. Doesn't matter if there's nothing in the world wrong with that thing, if he does it believing he shouldn't do it then it's a sin to him. So if I somehow WAS successful in debating this guy into a corner, I might be talking him into doing something he still believed in his heart was wrong. I thought that would not only be unprofitable, but a very wrong thing to do. So every time he tried to start a debate with me I would always demur.

Today I was outside changing the external trash can and this guy walks up to me. He introduced himself as the guy I used to work with and he starts talking about how he used to always argue with people about that stuff, and he apologizes for all the times he tried to start an argument. Ten years later. Totally out of the blue.

 :eek!:

We had a nice chat and I got to explain to him why I always deferred debates back then. He would not have understood it back then but he understood well now. And I think he looked a lot better now than he did back then. He looked happier now.

Kinda boosted my faith in humanity. Not completely restored it of course, but helped it out a good little bit, for sure.

I got the sunburn yesterday. OUCH!!!

Thought we had our toiley fixed. Woke up today to water in the floor. Some moron put more flooring on top of the already existing floor like a bunch of lazy people. Now we have to go back in and remove enough of the top flooring so the seal will ACTUALLY seal. GRRRR!!!

Went downtown for the fireworks last night. Got there early to wonder around. Saw lightening in the distance. Checked my weather app and there was a severe storm coming our way. We power walked back to the car and within 2 minutes the dang thing hit!

Yeah, it was raining lightly here... but people were still out to see the fireworks. Crazy. I rolled my eyes and rolled away to my home.

What was I even doing out? I was at work until 9pm last night. On holidays there's this mysterious illness that sweeps through the population - particularly virulent, it seems, in the workforce - and people stay away from work in droves. I was at work until late on the 4th of July last year, if memory serves. I'm not complaining, as I will be getting overtime pay this week.

I had a lovely weekend. Except the fact we lost another Saint to death. :sadbounce:

He's doing fabulous now though, so we really have no reason to be sad. He had a very aggressive cancer the past few years.

Other than that it was awesome and my holiday was great. I'm just not as spry as I used to be, because staying out after 10 and then getting to work at 5am the next day almost killed me. I was dragging so bad, made a bunch of mistakes at work...my body just shut down when I got home. I went home, put on pjs, ate lunch and dozed in and out in the recliner till bedtime. Lol

Today I'm more awake, but I'm still gonna do nothing after I get off.

Another reason Heather should not reproduce: I could have literally BEAT husband's dog yesterday and not felt bad about it. At all. She jumped our fence and went terrorizing small children [she's people scared] around the neighborhood. Took 25 minutes to get that idiot back to the house. Almost made me late to work. I will not discuss how swiftly I drove back roads to get there as their is an officer of the law on this board. Got home and the same dog had gotten on our kitchen counter and pulled a package of Chikfila honey mustard down and decided to open and eat it all over my favorite blanket on my chair. I told her the next time she jumps the fence she better keep going. I'm not doing this again. She was a large reason that I had to move from his dad's house years ago. Ugh.

Day off that I don't really need. I lost a day thanks to the holiday. We'll make it work.

Now I'm back at work. I'll see a few of these knuckleheads, hopefully help the few that want to be helped, and start the process to "help" a few that won't comply with their conditions back into prison, er, compliance.
I really like this job, but lord it is paperwork intensive, with more than it's share of idiots.

In other news, we had a crazy person decide to start shooting at random cars on our main 4 lane in town around 2 am this morning. Killed a paper courier and injured 3 more, including a police officer. I'm waiting for it to hit trending on FB.

Heading straight to Netflix tomorrow.  Lol

And we had crazy shootings downtown Dallas tonight too. There was a protest rally about the other black shootings in LA/MN. And two snipers opened fire, wounding 11 policemen, 4 dead. So sad. Sigh.

Be careful Roscoe. Sigh.
Title: Re: Pedal to the floor in Sharing 504!
Post by: Roscoe on July 08, 2016, 12:35:34 PM
My heart hurts this morning to hear of Dallas. To be candid, I've tried to see things from the perspective of the Black Lives Matter group. And I understand the anger. What I don't understand is how the people that are peaceful good people that protest with them don't condemn the violence.
Newflash- ALL lives DO matter. Black, white, green, yellow- they are all souls in need of a Savior.
Instead, they get activists that don't work stirring up hatred between races. My opinion only- Black Lives Matter has at its core became a terrorist group.
The police shooting folks has happened and will continue to happen. When Officers feel threatened and in fear for their lives, they shoot to stop the threat. On the latest shootings, the New Orleans shooting, from what I have seen, I can see why the officers shot him. On the Minnesota shooting- I can't make that call, cause all we see is the aftermath. It APPEARS that the officer may have overreacted. But you know, given the vitriol that police are facing, it puts every officer in America on edge. And people on edge react explosively.
I see things differently after wearing the badge for so long. I have friends of every race that pin that badge on, and NONE of them are looking for a different race to target. All of them are wondering this morning about whether or not it's worth pinning the badge on. Because for all the bravado and bluster, they really wanted to make a change for the better in their community. And they didn't try to do that by burning down convenience stores and looting them, or shooting innocent people who came to an event simply to protect the protestors.

I'm thankful God took me off the street as a cop. However, I still carry that gun, and will continue to do so. People have gone nuts. Time to prepare yourself...for everything. And the first stop should be a prayer closet. If there is any doubt where you stand with God, lock yourself in and make your salvation sure. Because you can't stop a bullet in mid flight so you can repent.

May God have Mercy on my beloved country, and may he comfort the hurting this morning, be it the officers, or the good people that lost someone. As for the thugs that killed innocents- I have no words for them. My human side says that the scum should die and do it quickly.

.....and we had another shooting last night...oh and our 3rd armed robbery in a week...

on 2nd thought Mel, you may not want to move here.

Just my 2 cents from my perspective on life, we have racist cops running around here. A lot of them. I'm honestly surprised we haven't had any of the senseless murders around here.

Bella tried to jump the fence again this morning, however Momma Bear even with her bowl of Fruity Pebbles was way too quick for her. Score 1 for me!

We had the radiator replaced in our van a few weeks ago. The van has been acting weird since then. Took it in to a 2nd mechanic (this time to someone we trust a lot more). Mechanic #1 is someone we don't know, but he bought the shop from an older fellow we liked who had been really good to us. HUGE mistake. Via mechanic #2 we learned that mechanic #1 hadn't replaced the radiator correctly... it's leaking on both sides... the hoses are leaking... the wiper issue that had been annoying us is because he didn't replace the cowling correctly after the radiator job... and he didn't mount the AC dryer correctly either. BEYOND ANNOYED. It's supposed to be under warranty, but at this point I don't really want such an incompetent imbecile touching my van. Aaaanyhow. Mechanic #2 says that with the work currently needing to be done, and knowing that the transmission is showing some interesting signs of issues (known to go out on Dodge Caravans between 150K - 200K anyhow, and ours is at 200K) we'd really be doing better to just replace the family vehicle now. So now we get to look for a family van that will seat 7, and also hound mechanic #1 to refund our money and/or make it right. Did I mention I'm annoyed??

So much for posting happy thoughts only, Ruby.

Ruby I've been there, complete with the whole grandfathering-in thing. A preacher friend of mine is also a mechanic, and I took my car to his shop for a time. Then he left the shop in capable hands while he went to work at a factory, mostly for insurance reasons. Then the capable hands moved on and... less capable hands, let's say... were working there. Took me an extra $80 at a different mechanic to fix the mess they made when they were trying to change a Ford Windstar's spark plugs.

But ever since obamacare made that workplace insurance untenable, my friend the preacher/mechanic is back and all is well.

I'm ready for school to start please. My summer job has gone to pot. I'm getting sent home after only working 2 hours. Losing complete shifts. I had considered working up until dad's chemo treatment in August but I've now been told that he won't have enough time for me then due to a former employee coming back. We are already not making it bill wise this summer and I WILL be going to see my family with my dying father in August. I haven't seen them in 11 years and then only briefly at my uncle's funeral. They were here for only 2 days. The last time I spent any significant time with them was 17 years ago. This time in life has taught me that family time is precious.

So if any of y'all remember JennieLynnie, please say a prayer for her and her Boyfriend...her BF has been studying the Bible trying to make sense of all the election and end times stuff and he got convicted and was baptized in Jesus Name last week. Jennie is excited that he is hungry for God, and she too wants to come back, but it's hard on her cause she's been gone awhile. He is seeking for the Holy Ghost and has a ton of questions, so she messaged me and had me call and talk to her about some things she was fuzzy on, and asked me to pray for them.

So I'm asking for help praying for them. I've been watching and praying for her for a few years now and I am so glad she's made some steps home. To hear her voice yesterday made me almost just sob in the phone. It was awesome.

Please help me pray for them. Jen has 6 kids and they all need to be at church learning about Jesus. Three of them go with her ex, David, but the other three belong to Chris, her BF. So that whole situation needs prayer and guidance.

Thanks.

But I have a friend who bakes, as well as my mom.

Even as I type, I'm sitting here eating this fig muffin my Mom made over the weekend with fresh figs from her fig tree!  :fork:

I dislike figs...

But that's ok...I'm sitting here with 6 jars of Pirate Ringos Salsa in front of me. Not to mention the one I still have unopened in my pantry.

Gonna have tacos tonight...and about to make quesadillas for lunch.

Any excuse to eat PRS. Hehe.

About the only figs I've ever tasted would be the world reknown  Fig Newtons. I doubt they count. :sadbounce:
We have a new catering company/Bakery open here.... some awesome cinnamon rolls and pies, but I can't partake very often. Too many calories. Which did not stop me from enjoying that 300 calorie chocolate dipped fude ice cream Drumstik last night. And it won't stop me tonight either, since I know we have some left over.
And in sharing, Saturday night I smoked a bacon wrapped meatloaf. It was superb. I just ate leftovers for lunch....
Getting ever closer to the Academy. Prepare yourselves to hear nightly whining/progress reports, since they have internet.

And today has been a nightmare. I've been busy since I walked in, 30 minutes before we open..:pound: Just now got to take a lunch break

Have you made it to the Derek episode? Tears. Just a whole lot of tears.

*EDIT* I'm at the end of the next episode and I literally dropped my drink jumping up from my seat. I scared the beejesus out of my dogs.

After reassurance from husband and my mom, I will make it through this poo show of a summer. 6 weeks til school!!

I didn't watch Criminal Minds myself, but my grandmother used to watch it. I got the impression every episode one of the main characters was threatening to quit. But I never sat down to watch an episode so that impression could be totally wrong.

I tried so hard to be good yesterday eating wise. I was with my dad and all was well until mom came home. They decided to go to my favorite mexican place.....the end. lol.

Today, me and husband both have off work. He's STILL working on the porch and I'm on flower bed weeding duty.

Speaking of duty, his dog is back on probation. I can deal with a little bit of pee every now and then. Now it's daily if not multiple times a day and yesterday evening I came home to 2 pile of the poo. Again, I'm glad she has chosen the bathroom floor, but I'm not living how we did out at his dad's house.

In local news, my dog is now hiding in his doghouse and I can't really blame him. We just went out for a training run to learn the boundaries of this new wireless fence thing I got him. Central transmitter broadcasts a signal the collar picks up, and if the collar gets too close to the boundary the dog gets a warning tone, then a mild shock. My australian shepherd is very intelligent so it doesn't take much. But this morning was our first trial run (on a leash) with this thing, so he's not really happy right now.

I feel like curling up in my doghouse too, but I gotta go to w*rk now.

Bobby I get the impression dreading it is going to wear you down much more than the actual week. By the time that week actually gets here you'll be worthle... well, as close to worthless as you ever get, which isn't worthless, but you won't be at your best.

Maybe it would be best for Lou to knock you out until that week.

How do you keep it straight which forms to fill out for what?

Yes.Herding cats that are stupid AND conniving.
The forms- eh, it's a learning process. After doing a few of them you get the idea of what you need to do. That and for the involved ones- like a parole revocation- I found one done by an experienced officer. I printed out all the pages, labeled each sheet with the word "EXAMPLE" , and shoved it into one of my desk drawers. Then when I get one I need to do, I pull it out and use it as an example on how to do it. My cheating is paying off, I've yet to get one kicked back and I can almost do them without looking now.

And in sharing, I planned to relax this weekend, but the washing machine had other ideas. Stupid thing- the drainage pump apparently went out. Being cheap and broke, I tore it apart and now if I can get the new part in, hopefully I will have repaired it tomorrow. I just hope that's all that's wrong with it.  I was gonna complain about it dying until I looked at the year of manufacture and done some quick math. We've had it 8, nearly 9 years. Time has flown by...

Nine years is a long time for a major appliance? Man, time really does fly... I can remember when twenty years was the minimum you expected from a fridge or washer.

Or was it used when you bought it?

Sean decided to try his hand at baking hoagie rolls. And now he's wanting to use them for dinner. I'm more then fine with that. Any dinner that includes (quick!) hot sandwiches is alright by me. Trying to decide between sloppy joes, pulled pork, etc... hmmm....

Ah kombucha. Never tried it myself, but I remember the hue and cry when they took it off the shelf.

In local news, I read something funny:
"Hey honey, what did you put in this casserole?"
"Well, I put beef, broccoli, rice, sour cream..."
"Eyeglasses?"
"Oh I was wondering where those were!"

Um. Wait. I'm one of Roscoe's heroes?? What.ev.er. :P

Kombucha is actually pretty yummy, but I would drink it even if it wasn't, just 'cause it's so high in probiotics. :) But we also have one of the best kombucha makers in the US producing at their factory in our area (Humm Kombucha). So if you try a knock-off brand, I can't guarantee ANYthing of what you'll think of it. :P

So I let Bella play in the rain and stomp in mud puddles this afternoon when a storm came through (yes, I'm one of those terribly negligent mothers that lets her kids actually BE kids - shocking, I know) :P and got some pretty cute vids. They're on FB, for anyone who wants to see all the splashing. LOL I ran Teddy out in the rain, too, and he loved it. Sooo... when all the watery/muddy play was done, had to give them both a bath. Which meant Miss B was late for her quiet time. While I was trying to get her settled, Mr. Ted was getting into everything and wailing loudly. Sooo... I put him in his play pen while I did a couple quick things, and I planned to go rock him to sleep as soon as I was done. Everything went quiet, though, and I just looked over there, and he's sound asleep. Wait, WHAT?!?! Babies actually DO that?!?! *flabbergasted* Bella has never ever ever - and I mean never - done that. I am speechless. And may need coffee to revive myself.

It'll be huge. I'm just too cantankerous and old for it. Last time I went, the music was so loud my ears rang for 2 days, and I am someone who doesn't have sensitive ears. Well, that, and the little incident when we got to the arena after about 70 percent of the people did and wound up at the top of some removable bleachers. All was well until the kid in front of me decided to worship by jumping. After about two jumps and me looking down to see over 20 feet to the floor beneath me, I leaned forward and told the young man if he wanted to worship like that, by all means do- on the floor. 'Cause I could just see that bleacher collapsing...
I decided right then and there I'm too old for that.

Also, Brandon is off work til Monday and I'm ready to already kill him.

It would be inappropriate to discuss from where all and how much I've been sweating the last few days. Shew Lord.

Got up and going to church this morning. Brandon was dragging and decided to stay home. We didn't even get to the preaching before the spirit fell this morning. I was trying to scoot back from the prayer line forming in the altar and bumped into someone. Turned around and it was Brandon. He said about 20 minutes after I left he decided to get off his keister and come along. So not only did he get there, but he actually came up to the altar too. He's not fully there yet, but I enjoy watching his 'baby steps'.

I'm back at work, trying to get 100+ casefiles current and in good order before I go away. Got two days to do this, then I'm off Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Sunday at 2 pm, while my church is enjoying 5th Sunday potluck, I will be running laps. Bah.
I totally am unhappy with this, but my pastor pointed out that I will do fine, since God knew it was a requirement aand blessed me with the job, He certainly won't let me down. And my prayer warrior/Adopted Mama, Sis Hattie , stated that it'll be easier for me than I think. She has a direct line with God, so I'm hoping that means He's gonna send His angels to caarry me around that track. :laughhard:
My 86 year old cheering squad/back up prayer warrior/ retired minister, a sweet mischevious old lady named Sister Reed, has informed me that she too will be praying for me and will miss me while I'm gone... Surely with all this intervention I can survive...

Got asked this morning if I'd change my shift from closing to lunch today. Gladly!! The sister who runs the closing shift is so cranky. ALL. THE. TIME. It took everything in me yesterday not to stab her with the potato peeler in my hand and walk out. Makes for a swift getting ready and out the door this morning, but I'll be grateful later.

Looking forward to the King's friends and family picnic this weekend. Brandon has never been to their farm and I'm trying to get my mom and dad to go with me. My mom has been there before and Sis. Barbara asks about her all the time.

Dad's disability went through!!!! He receives his first check mid-October and his back pay 2 weeks after that. I know that's a HUGE relief for them.

Also Brandon is getting back more financial aid than expected. We get a washer and dryer AND I GET MY KAYAK!!!

We have a pot luck Sunday this weekend too. I'm making pot roast...gluten free so some of my friends can eat and not worry about gluten, and I'm currently trying to figure out a cake of some sort I wanna make. I may do egg free cupcakes so my little LiviBug can have some. She loves cupcakes and rarely gets to have any cause they have egg.

Oooo...i think I'll do chocolate cupcakes. Using cherry Dr Pepper in the mix instead of the egg. I've made it before...one can of soda in one box of mix makes a regular cake or cupcakes. No oil,, water or eggs needed.

I'll add some chocolate chunks I have half a bag of and maybe some cherries on top. Yeah that sounds perfect!

I love pot luck!

You can substitute flax seed for eggs.

"Use this formula to substitute for one egg. Double for two eggs, triple for three eggs, and so on... Zero cholesterol!

Ingredients

1 Tbsp Flaxseed Meal or Golden Flaxseed Meal
3 Tbsp Water
Instructions
Combine flaxseed meal and water and allow to sit for about 5 minutes. Add this ingredient to your recipe as you would the eggs."

:hi: Got little sleep last night. Our A/C was freezing up. I googled it  and came back with all kinds of scenarios, including the condenser being dirty. Wait- I remember Robbie cleaning it and showing me how a couple of years ago when they came to visit/fix everything I had neglected. He saved me from far away this time. I went to work at 6 this morning with water, a toothbrush, and finally the air compressor.
It's been running for about an hour with no freezing up; before it was a block of ice in 30 minutes. Here's praying that fixed it. Lord knows I can't afford to pay a contractor to put a new unit in, and the timing is horrible for any major malfunctions sine I'm leaving in two days for 6 weeks, not counting weekends..

Wal-Mart shorted Brandon's check by just over 100 bucks.   When his pay stub says 1 amount and another amount is deposited in our bank account. That's an issue. Apparently it an issue when any of Brandon's team picks up a shift. So we had to go get a copy of our bank statement for him to take in today.

Today is also my last day at the diner.

 Wait, what?

Heather  as I understand it picking up a shift  means somebody did not come in when he should have and Brandon is filling in. if they have payment trouble every time they do this...  management is training them to not be helpful and fill in.

We just got back from the King family picnic. Brandon is already taking a nap. lol. It makes me happy that he gets along with [some] people from church as well as he does. Him and Steven [Alona's stepbrother. I think that's the relation...] get along really well. We are supposed to go shoot guns with them sometime soon.

Mom has said her peace and counted to 3 concerning our trip. There is no way for all 3 of us to fit in 1 car WITH dad's oxygen machine. Dad is insisting on taking his new[er] car so I was just going to follow them in my car. Well, I'm in need of new tires but it's not horrible yet. Mom had a dream that she watched me fly off Interstate 75 in Ohio in the rain so she is making me take her car instead. I understand all the reasons but I'm more comfortable in my car. Sigh.

Church tomorrow then a friend's baby shower in the evening.

Hmm... I remember a church get-together I was at one time. First we ate, then we played softball. Between those two, some of us were sitting on the bleachers waiting for the rest to straggle out to the ball field. A friend challenged me to a race around the inside perimeter of the baseball field, so we took off running. About 3/4 the way around, he drops to a walk. I jogged on in and sat down. He walked up to the bleachers, leaned against them and said, "Man (pant, pant) gatorade LIES, man!"

Fixing to go do an hours' worth of pt stuff, situps, pushups, ect. I'm  really not enjoying  this. Oh, and the promised  wifi.....haven't found it yet. My data plan is fixing to eat up all of my rollover data. And I only have access to the phone at lunch and after 5, so if any of you text me, I can't answer until then.

Our sweet Sis Tammy from church [who gave the best hugs and was an inspiring worshipper] is now worshipping in heaven. It's so weird to think that within 12 hours of worshipping in the altar with her Sunday morning that she is truly worshipping Jesus face to face.

Also we had a local pastor, Bishop Dean Livingston, pass away on Saturday.

Sad times my friends.

Sorry for your loss heather.
And in sharing- This places suc- uh, inhales mightily and consistently. I am Very thankful I lost the weight I did, there's no way I could have done this weighing what I did.  Up at 4:15, in the gym by 5, all kinds of calisthenics, then push ups and sit up for about 30 minutes- followed by an hour of weight lifting, or running, or the like depending on what day it is.
I'm surviving on water, a single serving bowl of honey nut cheerios with 1% milk for breakfast, a salad for lunch and usually a sandwich or the like for supper. After flag formation at 5:30, I walk a mile to two miles every night, to get the soreness out. Did I mention that it has been in the 80s at 5am and high 90's in the evenings? This place is killing me..but I will survive. Please, keep praying for me. I have muscles hurting where I didn't know I had muscles. I went to pick up an empty plate from the top of the salad bar and nearly cried from the soreness.

Ya'll can poke all the fun you want. I'm laughing about the absurdness of me going through all of this again, when I've got over 2,000 hours of training that this mostly duplicates, and I've got more certificates than some of the instructors...lol.
The good Lord knew I'd need a kick in the rear to get in better shape, thus He provided it. :sadbounce:
Let that be a lesson- if you need to pray more- do it, don't make Him make you.
If you need to be more faithful- do it, don't make Him make you.
And if you need to be a better steward of the body he gave you, no matter how ugly (mini) or misshapen (mini), do it, for God's sake and yours, don't make Him make you..  :laughhard:

We have a few classes then test out tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be home basking in my own a/c and a tub of hot water by 7 pm.....

I thought it would be a fun vacation, but sadly it got very frustrating very quickly. It was me, mom and dad. We went to see my uncle, aunt, cousin, her husband and daughter. The husband was a jerk to everyone about everything and my uncle can down a 12 pack in about 2 hours and likes to call everyone vulgar names. We got there Wednesday night and I was ready to leave by Friday morning. There were some fun moments in there but I would have much rather been in Mississippi seeing Mel....

While I was gone Brandon's starter went out [again] and he overdrew his bank account. The first time I let our dogs out, his brat jumped the fence on me.

I'm ready for [my own!] bed.

Its So HOT! And we have a flood warning and bad storms so bad until the weekend sometime. Pastor has cancelled church for tomorrow and Friday morning ladies prayer due to bad weather. It's supposed to get bad before it gets better. I have to work the next two days. I hope I can get there and back safely. I drive 8 miles one way.

Really really lonely lately. I don't have much anyone around but work people and church people who have their own jobs and families...all my friends are married with kids and everyone started school this week and I just have the cats. Lol

Wish that God would see fit to send me a husband, but likely I will die alone. So tired of being alone.

All my real friends that seem to care at all are all a long way off.

We need a GP reunion.

Dear Lord. Tonight was a night I have dreaded. Had to get peppersprayed, for the fourth or fifth time in my career. It hurt as bad this time as it did the last four times...
And I had a proud moment today. They measured us for body armour. For the first time in years, my chest is larger around than my belly. Chest 48 inches, belly,46, and waist 38. I was happy.

Can't you get a signed certificate the first time you get pepper sprayed and tasered? Seems you should be able to only endure that ONCE for your professional career.

Congrats on the proportions. Good portions (meals) lead to good proportions. (Someone has probably already said that but I just now thought of it.) You gotta post a pic though - there will be unbelievers.

Wal-Mart didn't add Brandon's missing 104 dollars to this check like they said they'd do 2 weeks ago. Also since they make him tip toe the PT/FT line, he can get benefits but I'm excluded since he's only listed as a PT employee. They are really starting to wear on me.

We both woke up this morning with horrible allergy crud.

Made it through another week. It's been a tough one. And I got an unpleasant email today telling me I had been dropped from the academy. I immediately called my boss and told her how hacked I would be if they fired me AFTER the hell of pepper spray...
Turns out, my roommate had gotten a medical excuse so he wouldn't be pepper sprayed. But after being told to go inside while we were being sprayed, he disobeyed the instructor and stay outside to watch like a 10 year old. He got himself fired for his disobedience, and they typed the wrong one of us in the academy computer.
Thankfully, they fixed the problem...

I have been so tired and had a stressful couple of days at BK, and all the torrential rain is just redicilious, so I declared today a NOTHING day. I slept late, and have napped off an on all day, and I have soup in the crock pot that is about an hour from being ready. I'm about to shower and finally get dressed and go to the dollar store at the end of the road ONLY because I used the last of the cat food last night and the babies need to eat. Plus I would rather shower and wash my hair tonight cause it needs it, than to wash it tomorrow morning. It fixes and holds better for church if it's at least a day old wash and not super clean.

Anyone want some potato soup?

Sold several pieces of Bella's outgrown clothes for $50. :D I love when I can find boutique brands for fabulous deals, have my kids wear them, and then turn around and re-sell them. Err, the clothes. Not the kids. ;)

And it appears like my truck battery is dead. Started it at the store and it turned over a bit slow. At the academy, It started right up- once. Now it won't turn over. Not the alternator, because the light never came on, it shows to be charging normally. I'll have to get a jump Friday for the trip home.

I had stuff at home i was going to cook today, but it was my cousins birthday this week so I was invited out. Told them I was between paychecks So i really have to go home, So they said come anyway and paid for my meal.

Went to Aztecas Mexican place. I've been there many many times, but got something different today...a steak fajita taco salad. It was awesome! And fairly cheap. Less than $9. I will be getting that again.

So now I have leftover potato soup from Saturday, and I have two cube steaks marinating in wostishire sauce and onion soup mix with mushrooms on top in the fridge. I'll bake those up tomorrow and fry  down some cabbage and I have some red potatoes to steam off and that will be tomorrow's dinner..what I was going to have today. Lol

Next weekend is Stoneking revival in Pensacola, and I'm going to at least one night of that, and then making lasagna on Sunday and having company after church.

This work week needs to hurry along. Lol

Whopperrito is being introduced tomorrow. We will see how this goes. SMH.

I know not how successful the whopperito will be, but I can tell you from experience that for the employees it will be a whopper of a pain. There's a reason McDonald's stopped selling their "premium" chicken wraps. Burritos are rather awkward in a system designed for making burgers.

Those snack size wraps were the last thing I ever ate from McD's. I haven't eaten there in about 3 years now though.

1 week til school. I'm ready. My course load this semester is German, Social Research, the 2nd English class, and 2 Women's Studies classes. I'm debating double majoring again. Might as well instead of having to go back and get a 2nd degree. Cost less to go ahead and double.

I'll also be starting taking monday night bible college classes through my church. I did a year way back in the day so the instructor told me I could start in the 2nd year. If it gets to be too much I could just audit but with only doing ETSU and 10 hours of work study I feel it could be done.

Of course a lot of this is contingent on the news we get from dad's cancer doctor tomorrow. Either way, we will get through this.

Our new tote bags arrived in the mail today. :D I like them. A lot. And I decided to run a random promotion on our FB that any orders today get a free tote bag. Within just a little while I had 3 pretty decent sized orders come in. LOL. Yay for social media marketing.

Roscoe, are you still alive??

Jenn, what's going on in your world right now? I miss hearing about your life, and I seem to be struggling to keep in touch with anyone these days. Bah.

Less then 2 months to go until we meet the latest Pirate Ringo offspring. No, we don't have a name picked out. He probably won't be named for three days after his birth like poor Teddy was. LOL. I am excessively waddle-y these days. Which is ever so fun when chasing two toddlers around. :P I think it will be fun to have three little ones growing up together though. :)

I is still alive, wooby. Sore, cranky, and not quite as fluffy and lovable,  but alive. I know this because it hurts when I move. Anywhere.  Everywhere.  :P
Got out of class and got the truck jumped- the battery died on the trip down. I really thought I had replaced it not long ago, but the tag on it showed it was made in 2010, so apparently I did not  $100 I didn't  need to spend later, and I was on the  way home. I've made it in and mowed at the yard, primarily because if I didn't I won't be able to when I get in next week. It's really to wet to mow, but at least I have it knocked down.
I think I'm gonna go run a hot tub of water and sit in it until lou hollers at me to get out. In other words, about 10 minutes.  :biglaugh:

Too much... food...

*Isaac lies on his side and concentrates for a while on breathing enough to not pass out.

There's this restaurant called Catfish Country. All you can eat fish of different kinds, plus fries, hushpuppies, coleslaw, fried green tomatoes, corn on the cob... bunch of other stuff too. And homemade desserts - the banana pudding was COOKED, not that instant pudding junk! And somebody in that kitchen knows how to fry fish - the whole fish was good and tender, that's nothing new... but the fillets were just as good. Not a chewy piece to be found.

So yeah, we went there for uncle Fred's birthday. Now I think I'll just lie here and rest for a while, and I might not eat until supper time, the day after tomorrow.

Bobby if you're ever going through north Alabama you need to let me know. We'll test the limits of "all-you-can-eat" and see how long it will take before they kick us out.

Back at Hell. Really missing my family, my life, and my church. Went by a local church here down from the academy. Met the pastor, a really nice young guy, but they were having a back to school play night for the kids, so no church for me..
Praying I survive this week's PT. The classroom stuff should be a breeze, it's firearms all week, something I have done consistently for 15 years and taught for 10 of those....
This is week 4. I have a total of six to do. So, four days this week of PT....then four days next week of PT, then two days the last week, which is more of a test than PT. So 10 more days of the worse physical part of the academy.
Of course next week is all week of groundfighting, which is physical and potentially injury laden, but shouldn't be as taxing as the morning stuff...

Jason's off to youth camp this week, and thankfully I didn't have to drive him. Another mom in our church loaded up all the teens and took them over the mountain, and I kept her youngest (age 10) today so he wouldn't have to be bored in the van with all the teens for hours. Bella had a marvelous time with him, and so did Teddy. He's very sweet with younger kiddos, and thoroughly wore both of mine out, so I have high hopes that they will sleep well tonight. :D

Quote from: Roscoe on August 27, 2016, 08:13:45 PMWell. Yall are  too  quiet.  I have been doing nothing  productive.  Last night we went out for pizza. Pizza Hut. I have NEVER had that greasy a pizza from pizza Hut in my life. Truthfully,  it was nasty.
Took Rusty for a ride today, wandered  around a local car show,  then came home to rest. Kim mowed my yard this week, saving me from having to do it, God bless her.
I like pizza myself, but I hadn't gone to Pizza Hut in years. A couple months ago I got a pizza from there just on a whim. It was... slimy. Not sure how to explain it. And it wasn't a specialty pizza either, just a standard medium one-topping. But it felt slimy. I won't be going back there for a bit longer than a few years.

Our Pizza Hut is hit or miss. Sometimes it's awesome and sometimes it's awful.

We discovered a local pizza place that is really good.

We went on a whim last night and ate.  Family of 4, ate for $20.  Two large pizzas, and had enough to left over to bring one home.

We generally only go to local places for pizza anymore. All the chains use frozen dough now.

The Lord hears our prayers!!! Bella is now at my father in law's house!!!! Thank ya Jesus!! 15 minutes after going out last night she took a gag worthy poo in our living room. It even made the neighbors house smell [out homes are attached through a walkthru from out bedroom to their den].

Excellent church this morning. Now I should be getting off my computer to do homework which is already never ending and it's only the 1st week. Bible college starts the week after Labor Day so I know it's only going to get worse but at least I won't have the stress of that big dumb dog to tend with. Whisk is awesome and is welcome next door at anytime so I can actually stay on campus to get things done and she can go next door for play dates.

Also it was only Brandon's second day at AZ and they are already talking promoting him to a manager in the next few weeks.

Been a rough weekend.  Got a call last night as I was taking dinner off of the grill that my mama was being sent to the emergency room.
Turns out she had aspirated,  and had contracted pneumonia.  It's bad. Truthfully,  the doctor  said he didn't know if the antibodics would work or not....just have to see.
Seeing her struggle  for breath,  I have to admit that  I have my doubts  she will pull through.  On top of that I had to come back to the academy,  so I'm 3 hours away.
I went by the hospital today before leaving,  prayed for her, talked to her, and kissed her. One of the hardest things in my life to walk out of that room, knowing  it very well may be the last time I see my mama alive.
All I can do now is leave it in God's hands  and try to keep from going to pieces here at the academy.

When I got home today I found the amazon.com shipment I have been waiting almost a week for. I ordered three usb-audio adapters, one audio adapter of a different sort and a pair of water shoes. What I got was water shoes, the other kind of audio adapter, TWO usb-audio adapters and... a tube of mascara. Maybelline Volum'Express mascara, if that means anything.

I called amazon and the lady said she'd send a third adapter out pronto. She said I could keep the mascara. :eyebrow: Um... So, anybody want a tube of mascara? Never been opened.

Maybe I can use it on my cat. I got two kittens about a week and a half ago. The boy (Ethan) is a born scrapper but the girl (Lenna) is a proper lady. Maybe she would like longer, fuller eyelashes. Or maybe cats can use it on their whiskers... Or maybe I've been working too hard in the hot sun and I need a nap in front of the AC.

Work, yeah... maybe one of the women at work would take this thing.

Someone thought you needed help with your appearance, How thoughtful.

And in sharing, I just talked with the hospital. Mama is being transitioned to hospice care in the hospital. I'm going to need your prayers more than ever. This is harder than I thought it would be. I thought that the past several years of her being noncommunicative, I'd said my goodbyes and was prepared- but I'm not. As long as she was there, I guess I had this hope that one day God would heal her and she would come back to me. Now, that hope is gone.

Lord I is hurting. This week...lord. my bruises are bruised.  I've been thrown through  the air so much today, I qualify  for frequent flier miles and should have enough for a trip to the sea.
If I can just make it two more days this week. ..next week is mainly classroom  and wrap ups..
Still no new word on mama. I guess  she's holding her own. Hard being 3 hours away unable to  do anything.  But if I were there, I'd not be able to do anything  either..
God's hands. God's hands. Bobby, leave your hands out of it. .

Just knowing that you  are there and praying  for me means the world, my friend.  Words are often inadequate,  but prayers are never inadequate and always appropriate and appreciated.
I'm  back here at the academy now. Ready  to finish it up and take care of my life again. It has came a bit unraveled as of late, but thankfully,  the Master is holding on to the threads and will quickly make it right.

Anywho, life is better since Bella went to my FIL's last week. Whisk has been amazing.

Today we rearranged furniture and painted a bookcase. I'm waiting for Brandon to go to work so I can write a 2-3 page paper.

I think their is a non-domesticated animal living in our roof.....

Also I'm super jealous of my sister. Her and her significant other adopted 2 new adorable kittens yesterday. I've been wanting another cat. Topher is getting up their in age and I can't deal with the thought of not having a cat. However, given what we just went through with a 3rd animal in the house, I'm biding my time until Brandon gets over Bella's departure.

Getting a second cat was the best thing I ever did for Knut. He calmed down and stopped biting, he seems happier, he doesn't prowl and cry at night. He bathes her and they play and cuddle together. He's more affectionate towards me and he's stopped eating my shoes. And my Beans is such a joy and a snugglebug. I enjoy having two. It's complete.

I also don't worry about leaving them alone. They don't seem to mind me going to work everyday. They do seem to wait for me and watch out the window, but they don't act as needy as Knut used to when I left him alone and came home.

And me? Just the thought of having pets at all makes me want to murder someone. 'Cause I definitely don't need more chaos and more squalling and more mouths to feed around here. lol

In other news, why is it that both teen boys and toddlers can make messes, apparently not even SEE the mess, leave said mess for someone else to clean up, and then look quite perturbed when mom seems to think THEY should come back to clean up said mess?? Hmmm...... things I will probably never figure out.

If you have a cat, have two. Especially if the cat is going to be kept indoors. Two cats keep each other entertained, they can groom each other better than one cat alone can keep itself groomed and two happy cats don't eat much more than one bored cat.  =^.^=

Dad bought a camper out at the lake today. He is so excited. It'll give him something to do to get out of the house. Plus his one brother has a camper just around the corner [and a boat!].

Only 1 more chemo treatment left. We got the news yesterday they are going to rescan dad mid October and if everything looks good we are actually going to do radiation as well. When he first got diagnosed, radiation wasn't even an option because they thought chemo wouldn't even work. Radiation now will be to prevent regrowth of the tumors.

I'm really excited for dad and his camper, but lord I'm tired. We did chemo. He wanted to go by AZ and see some of the guys he used to work with. Then he decided he wanted to go to the camper for a bit, then he wanted to wait until Brandon could come out after he got off work at 7, then they fiddled around. Finally got dad back home around 845 and now waiting for him to get out of the shower so I can go home at last and eat my cold dinner. I have to be back here around 11 tomorrow to do it all again. Not to mention I'm missing classes and work and haven't gotten a lick of homework done.

I remember those busy days hauling my dad around to appointments and things and when he felt good, to see his friends and drink coffee and chat and I had to wait till he was ready to go home...took all day some days, came home tired and still had to cook them dinner, and I never accomplished anything I may have needed to do...

But I don't regret it, and you won't either.

Keep pluggin, and take a moment to set these memories in your mind. That's all we have when they are gone.

I'm playing hooky today. I was in bed by 9 pm last night and slept til 8 am today. I'm doing homework and getting ahead for next week. I'm liking this working at the school and only doing school deal. It's nice to put all my concentration on school.

Dad bought a grill for his new camper. He is SO excited.

:stupid: Hooky here today too. Had to go sign paperwork for mama at her new nursing home, so the boss told me to just take the day. I didn't argue.  Got a call when I was halfway to Russellville from a guy wanting to look at the Corvette. He claims he is very interested in it. At this point, I don't care. I'll sell it, or I'll keep it, no matter either way.
Came home with the intention to clean out a shed or mow the yard...sat down to eat a sandwich and heard rain. Even though there wasn't a cloud in the sky, it came a flood for about 30 minutes. Just long enough to cancel out any outdoor plans...

My sister actually came in today to see my dad. My initial thought was 'wow, she has a heart' but then she promptly reminded me that she doesn't. She mostly just came in so that me or dad could take her to AT&T to get the new iPhone [we are the only authorized users on the account].

I've been fighting a doozy of a sinus headache most of the day. Alas, homework must be done anyway...

Broken today. Blessed. So many emotions. My wonderful Mama slipped away this morning sometime before 345. After 15 years of nursing home, I should be prepared.. Around 245 this morning, I awoke. No reason. Went and checked the phone, no missed calls. Laid back down, had a feeling of overwhelming peace. At 3:45 the phone rang, telling me mama had passed.
I guess God came by to tell me He was on His walk to take her home.
She's far better off. I'll be okay. But right now....right now, I'm broken. I should go to church. But I don't want to face everyone, hear the sympathy, and the stories. I just want to be alone. Far from everyone.

*HUGS* for Roscoe

Everything that could go wrong this morning did trying to get to church. Even after I was there I kept telling myself to leave early that I didn't feel well. Then the Holy Ghost dropped and I knew why the devil had fought me tooth and nail this morning not to be there. Shew. I'm drained at this point but alas....homework must be done.

I still haven't done my homework. As soon as I sat down to start writing a paper my laptop decided to take 2.5 hours to update. While waiting on it, husband realized our basement was flooded because our hot water heater decided to give up the ghost. With no water for the night we went to stay at my parents. Once there and the the rain was pouring down, their roof started leaking.

So now I'm at work at the college trying to do my homework that's due today....

I did both. I dissappeared by myself and got lost on back roads,  winding up at my favorite place, petit Jean. Cried myself out, spent a couple of hours there, and sneaked  into church and spoke with Bro Wilson after he concluded his sermon.
This morning, got up and set up mama's memorial arrangements. She's home with Him. I'm getting by. Life is good.

Ok...here is my advice.

Granted, I'm just 7 months into this, (wow...has she really been gone that long already?) and some days I honestly want to scream and tell everyone where they can shove their advice, but this does work somewhat and has kept me (partially) sane.

Cry if you need to. If you feel it, do it. Don't Supress it until you have a meltdown. Cry, get it out and move along. Don't dwell there either. Take a few minutes and then blow your nose, wash your face and get back to whatever needs doing. But don't ignore the feelings of grief and don't imbrace them where it becomes unhealthy.

Talk about her. One thing that helps me is remembering the good and the bad times and sharing them with people. Or not. Sometimes I just think of the things that we did or even the things that were aggravating about her and it helps. Don't forget or try to forget. And if talking makes you cry. Cry. No one thinks anything of that. Everyone has a mother and they all will go thru something too.

Take one day at a time. That's cliche I know. But it's TRUTH. I have had some REALLY REALLY dark days these past months. Some I haven't shared with anyone and don't want to. But then the sun comes out the next day and although nothing changed overnight, she's still gone, my perspective changed somehow and I have a good day or a series of good days.

It takes TIME. I didn't expect it to be this bad. Truly. Other people have great relationships with their mothers and I never did until the last year or so. When mine passed I felt like I went with her, but I went to hell. I literally have physical pain sometime and sob so hard I feel like I'm dying. But with time it's getting less frequent and I am not getting over it, but learning how to live THRU it. I've heard we don't ever get over it. We just learn a new normal.

It comes in waves. I can have weeks of pretty good days and then BAM! Get hit HARD with several bad and worse days all together...then just as suddenly as it hits, it's gone again and I'm ok until the next wave hits.

This is BY FAR the hardest thing that I personally have ever gone thru, and I'm not thru it yet. And like i said, I have not fully shared with ANYONE Some of the stuff I've felt and dealt with these months. God only knows, and when you feel like you have NO ONE...God is the ONLY one you do have. He's all I have and sometimes I just lay at His feet and sob. HE is my comfort. You have to learn to lean on Him in a way you have never needed to before.

God took our Mothers, so now He has become our Mother.

That's all I got. Hope it helps.

It does ,Mel. I was fortunate enough that my mama was one of my best friends. We worked together after I got out of high school, went to church together,  and she and daddy were a huge part of my life. Because of this, there are not a ton of regrets for me to deal with, and there ARE a ton of great memories.  For this, I am thankful,  because I know things could have been much different.

Truthfully,  I expected it to be somewhat easy, just because she had been in such bad health and had not known me or even communicated with anyone in years.
As I've told others, I struggled with God BECAUSE He hadn't taken her, which I thought would've been merciful.

But once she was gone, it did away with that glimmer of hope that somehow, someday, they would call me saying she was asking for me...that hope that God would restore her.

I've cried, and I have a ton of friends who text me simple one word messages that uplift me, and some that text me alot more. Some that simply read what I've put on paper and emailed just for the therapy..some post quick thoughts on Facebook.
Each one are helping me more than I can say.
I am blessed. Despite my anti people tendacies, I have acquired some friends that are simply too stubborn to abandon me.
And I love them forever for it.

Prayers are with you today, Roscoe.

Melody, I'm so glad that in the midst of our sorrows, we can be a help to someone else. I love that your story has so many facets to it, so that anyone could truly be blessed by what you have to share.

My cousin got married this past Saturday, and I was glad to be able to just enjoy a wedding. Walked into the foyer of the church and there sat pictures of our loved ones who had gone on to meet their reward as a tribute for the wedding. I hadn't planned on crying, but there I was standing in the foyer of a church wedding, tears running!  They are worth the tears we shed now and 20 years from now.   I'm thankful for family that I can cry over!

---

On a completely other note, I am looking for some suggestions on two different types of books. Supplemental reading, if you will. I would really hope that these are mostly Apostolic materials.

First, I would like suggestions on a (simple or comprehensive) bible study for my husband and myself to do.  Not just like the "Bible Study in a Bag" that we had as youth, but a little more 'meaty.'

Second, I would like suggestions on some altar working material. I don't even know if that's really something you can read about, but it's something I know is a weak area of my walk because I struggle with people hearing me pray or what they might think, etc.

Thanks if you're able to help me out!

I don't know about books but I used to care a lot about what people might think about what I was praying at the altar. I determined I would not get over it without doing something about it, so I started going out in the woods to pray by myself. After I got accustomed to talking to God, then I didn't really give a flying flitter what people heard when I was praying at the altar.

It was amazing today. A simple little service, for a little lady that had simple tastes. My mama would've been embarrassed by the nice things said about her, and so many good friends showed up. I looked up to see Mini and two friends from Oklahoma who'd driven over. Among all of my other friends and family, they kept me from losing it completely as I spoke. Then, they stuck around, walked through the fall swap meet, and came back to my house for a glass of tea and fellowship.
Without them, I would've crawled away by myself. They kept me laughing, kept me involved, kept me from dwelling and crying. They were just what I needed today. Them, and the prayers from all of you and my other friends. In a time of loss, you really discover who your friends are. I have discovered that I have friends who I am not worthy of, friends who are amazing. It blows my mind that someone who is as introverted in person as I feel could somehow acquire this many people who love me. Truly, I am blessed.

Guys, ya'll are amazing. I wish I could do a Chel-pre-marriage and just bounce around spending time with each of y'all. Of course, that would probably take care of the excess number of friends.
Seriously, thanks.

I went today and took care of the Social Security thing, then loaded up Rusty, picked up mama's ashes and took them to the little family cemetery in the country where Daddy is buried. Kim, Chey and I buried them, had a good cry, and prayed. God came down and just wrapped us up.
It's all finished, with the exception of probate on mama's tiny piece of land. It may take a while for that to be finalized, due to the state having the option to stake a claim.
At any rate- I haven't totally collapsed.  God's mercy and grace are fresh every morning and because of this, and your prayers- I've got this.

It's been a weird week. I've decided to take on a 2nd job at the college to help with the bills. Also, our university decided Brandon had had enough financial aid and withdrew all his funds for this semester. They will let him stay in his classes as it's his last of undergraduate work but before they will release his transcripts to apply for grad school, we have to come up with 2600-2900 bucks. Frustrated doesn't even begin to cover it.....

I'm currently holed up at the college library trying to get some of this homework done. I get to distracted at home to get much done.

2 weeks until a glorious week eating sandwiches and cereal at the beach [because we are too poor to go, but we need a break.]!

Had my last meeting with my current advisor today. I'm going to miss her. From here on out I'll be meeting with the departmental advisor in each of my majors. I'm only 6 credit hours short of a minor in Anthropology so I picked that up too. Double major and minor. Hope I can make it through the next 2 years.....

I'm pretty sure my 3 yr old is trying to kill me. And all those parents who go on and on about how terrible the two's are.... whatever. They were lying. The two's had challenging moments. The three's have been absolutely awful all the way. How can one small package be so delightful and so incredibly ANNOYING at the same time?!? Anyhow then. LOL.

All my friends and even my mom said the 3's were worse. At least with my sister. She wasn't raising me at the time of my 3's so I'll have to ask my aunt. All 5 of her girls were terrible at 3's too. I remember them. Lol.

I just ate a wonderful, artery clogging cheeseburger.

If any of you ever make it to my area, I'll point you to one of the best cheeseburger spots. This place gives you a 5# bag of taters as French fries.  So many fires in fact they give you 2 plates, one for the burgers, one for the fries.

I need a burger. And fries.
Last night I started my weekend by cleaning out the shed. A 10x12 I think, it was literally floor to ceilingjunk and when you opened the door stuff would jump at you.  I moved everything out on the lawn and swept out the shed. Today, I pulled the trailer up and commenced to throwing away stuff. Kim came over and helped me go through Mama and Daddy's stuff, and surprisingly we just kept a handful of sentimental stuff.
I now have a loaded trailer, a BUNCH of stuff to burn, and for the first time in years, my lawnmower, weedeater, and other tools are in the shed where they belong.
Next- bonfire for what needs to be burned, and then we attack the carport room. It's gonna get cleaned out and turned into a shelved storage for household items.  I WILL make myself be the organized efficient machine that I know I can be. :pound:

My wife, chelleebelle, is in full blown clean and cook mode.  Our pastor is coming to preach for me tomorrow, and they are coming to eat at our house afterwards.

So far, she's made a cheesecake and lemon cake from scratch, broccoli slaw, and she's going to start meat for hot beef sandwiches.  And homemade potato salad.  And she's cleaning like mad.

I really want to go to sleep, but she's making enough noise to wake neighbors...

I'm so thankful for moments like these...Even though I would rather be sleeping...LOL. I guess that's what I get for waking up at 5 then getting her up at 8.

It IS beautiful out. I thought about going for a nice ride before church, but Rusty's down and the Corvette is not a leisurely cruise vehicle, it's more of a  "air-out-your-frustrations-on curves" type vehicle. Beside, we stayed up until midnight last night and slept in today.

Today is gonna be rough. Power went out at 9 last night, so we dressed by coal oil lantern and went to bed. Of course it came back on at 1:30, and everything in the house electrical came on- DVD players included. Got up and turned everything off and went back to sleep. Slept sound until 2:30 when I awoke for no reason at all with a friend on my mind. Prayed until 3,330, still couldn't sleep, balanced the checkbook, went back to bed anyway and laid until about 30 minutes ago. Now I'm sitting in the recliner, fixing to get up and get ready for work. Coffee, caffeine in general, will likely be my best friend today.:pound:

Ugh, I HATE days like that. In fact I had a day like that yesterday - couldn't sleep more than about 4 hours, and I was supposed to preach because the pastor was sick.

On days when I wake up and can't get back to sleep I go down to the local Jack's (fast food place, kinda like Hardee's) and order a large mocha shake. They ring up a large chocolate shake but they make it with half chocolate ice cream, half coffee. It does the job.

Ate dinner with a missionary tonight.  We were talking about dogs, and he said he met a prisoner once that said "I hate chihuahuas.  I've been arrested twice and both times were because of chihuahuas."

Apparently the guy had a tendency to break into houses that had chihuahuas, and they yapped like crazy and caused him to get caught...but a German Shepard would be better.

Bobby: I guess I'm a nerd. First thing I noticed in that picture was you are apparently looking up some old forum threads. Then I noticed the dog is smaller than your hand - hope everyone watches where they step. Then I noticed I recognize that room, and THEN I noticed the laundry. As I currently have a pile of laundry on the couch and don't intend to touch it before going to work today, I can't say a thing about laundry on the recliner.

Just hope the dog doesn't burrow into the laundry. You may never find it.

jack russells

chinese crested

The temperament of a cat depends on the cat. The temperament of a dog depends on the owner. If a dog is mean, vicious, ill tempered or barking all the time it is because the owner has spoiled it rotten, quite literally. I'm not quite sure why but if you give a dog everything it wants and never reprimand it for misbehavior it will always grow up to be cranky.

Some breeds, especially smaller ones, are more prone to spoilage because they are just so incredibly adorably cute.

Two of the top five are my favorites- Chihuahua and Dachshund. Love the spoiled little vengeful demons.
Slept in a bit today and spent the rest of the day helping a friend whose parents have Alzheimer's move some of their things to storage. Still haven't got Rusty fixed, but I did score a cool '40's cooler made by JC Higgins company, and got a deal on a table saw. I really didn't need the table saw, but it's a couple hundred dollar saw and I got it for $50. SO that balances out Lou's Chihuahua. Well, not really.  But I gotta stop spending. We've been like drunken sailors this month. :pound:

From what I recall Domino was a nice dog, not cranky. As I said, it depends on the owner.

Talking about spending like drunken sailors though, I remember a letter one sailor wrote to the newspaper editor. "In your paper you said the government has been spending money like a drunk sailor. I take offense to this. I served two years on the USS Potemkin and I can tell you that when we ran out of money we stopped spending."

Not overly pleased today. Lou isn't feeling well.. but what annoys me is automotive. Rusty's down from a stripped sparkplug that I haven't had time to fix...I start the Corvette for the first time in a week, to move it. It has a distinct squeak/tap from the passenger side valvetrain. I strongly suspect a bad lifter, which is above my talents to repair and money to pay right now. I suspect it is fixing to become garage art for a while. Not happy at all about that.

In recent news...

My family could really use some extra prayer this week. Daddy isn't doing well at. all. in recovery from his knee surgery. It's eerily reminiscent of three years ago after his hip replacement when he almost died. My C section is Thursday morning, and my stress levels are off the charts right now. I'm scared about my dad, I'm apprehensive about my own recovery with all the additional stress right now, and I'm not even going to go into what yesterday was like around here.

Just..... please pray. I'd be grateful. I'm kind of past the point of praying effectively for anyone including myself right now. Prayer is more like a random thrown up "HELP!!!" thing at the moment.

But I shall survive. I have had to deal with copious amounts of garbage this week....but...
Last night was different. Bro Wilson went to Branson leaving me to teach. Had a nice ten pages of notes- right before church we got a call that my wife's cousin (backslider whose mama still goes to our church) had gone to the hospital because the baby she was expecting hadn't moved at all that day.. The little fellow didn't make it.  They took him last night, about a month early. They are devastated. Lou and her cousin are like sisters, so she went to the hospital. Turned out out of 60 or so people in our church only about 12 showed up last night. We decided on a prayer meeting- sang a little, prayed, and I had told them they could leave after prayer. We get done prayng and everyone is just sitting there, like they are waiting on preaching. So, if you gonna sit like that after you been dismissed, fine. I'll beller at ya. :ugly: Wound up speaking for around 20 minutes on "if tomorrow doesn't come"..not what I had, but something I have taught in years past and just seemed to fit, even without notes or the full message. Looked over and our most recent convert who is seeking the Holy Ghost was cying her eyes out. We prayed for a bit longer before dismissing.
And that's  my life so far. Today promises to be a pain.
