The cake is a lie!

Wait... nobody here will get that reference.

Can we make it cheesecake?  I'm more for pie than cake, unless it's cheesecake.

Just make sure it's gluten free and all natural and non GMO and has some marijuana in it and don't share any of it with men who work with children.

All natural... check.  Gluten free... check.  Non-GMO... check.  Kinda fuzzy on the rest of that.  I would like a piece, after all.

I've done a whole lot of nothing but piddle around, mostly outside though, it's chilly but nice.

Waiting for the vet to come and clean out a cow's uterus.  :smirk2:

I'm eating a bean bowl.  Figured if I'd eat that'd be when he'd show up.....yes...he'll be here in 20 minutes.

How fun Taco!

Let me clarify. 50* is a beautiful.  Especially when you have to go in and out during the day.  But I'm not about to frolic about, like Seth. LOL. Nathan and Hannah are playing at the park while I sit in the sunshine in the car.  This place is packed.  It's a new park with a zip line and monstrous climbing mountain made of bars.

Also we are working towards buying a house.  Again.

I am so very picky. We definitely don't want to live in the country. That's not where the work is and driving/gas would be insane. However neither do I want to be packed right up next to neighbors.  We can repair and improve a house, but neighbors you're stuck with.

The uterus cleansing went fairly smooth.  Though she ended up thrashing about and falling down and tearing the chute half up before it was all through.  He was done with her woohoo by that point though.  Gave her a shot while she was flopped over and stuck then got her head and feet free to where she could get up....yadda yadda.

I'm glad for the thaw and snow dissipation, but oh the mud....holy moly.

I have so much that needs done....weep.

Went to church, came home, and such.

Please remember me in prayer, if you would. I got badly  dehydrated Friday, and but for the grace of God would have collapsed at a ball game over 125 miles from home. I also have a heel injury that got worse in the past couple of days. I need to take a week or more off and find some place to stay off it and rest .

Ugh. Felt less than great yesterday and wasted a beautiful day that would've been perfect for more tower work. Then I woke up late this morning and was 20 minutes late for work. And I'm in one of those moods- the kind that it would be pleasant for all involved if I had a remote cabin to go sit at.

Coincidentally Bro. Bobby, today the pastor preached about having joy at all times.

In local news I took some fish fillets from the freezer, cooked them a bit in a pan, then scrambled them up with some eggs and finished cooking them, then put all that mess on top of some cornbread.  Pretty good.

Kimber!!!! ::HUGH::

Well isn't Seth a sassy pants today.....

Service last night was awesome. Sis Gina McCool has such a testimony. Plus her kids are so sweet [and well behaved!].

Brandon came to church with me this morning [awesome service. We had Bro Jason Pearcy with us] then we went hiking. My new favorite thing is hammocking.  I got one for myself and for him. It's awesome. Got a lot of funny looks at the park but also had a lot of people saying they needed one themselves.

Anyways I'm tarred. Work tomorrow. At least it's payday!

I think I'm about sick of Christian music that sounds like dance club music, and heavy panting whiney male singers-music, and pretty much 99% of whatever is on KLOVE.  I see it influencing Hannah and I didn't think it was that bad just not great but it rakes on me everytime I hear it and it puss and oozes of worldliness.

/end rant. I'm not a music buff.

Lou and Chey love KLOVE. I, on the other hand, am not as fond of it, although I will turn it on if my local southern gospel station starts preaching.  I'm pretty content with a memory stick full of REAL gospel music. You know, the Hinsons, the Paynes, the Crabb family, the McGruders- all those that drive Jenn and Ruby to Barf-ville.

Oh, and Sir John, I thought I'd posted that I was praying as well, but apparently I didn't. Nevertheless, prayers for you were said, and will continue to be...

Post by: Lynx on February 24, 2014, 03:10:27 AM
Two problems with K-Love - they play what is popular, not necessarily what is good, and their playlist is so small that you can listen to it for seven hours and basically you've heard everything they'll play for the next three months.

Unfortunately a lot of modern christian singers - more than half, about 70% I would estimate - sing for their popularity and bank accounts, not as a ministry.  They sing what is popular at the time, because it is popular and they know it will sell. But then you have that in every style of christian music.

Fortunately I have Isaac Radio.  It's a radio station that broadcasts from my music player, playing only good music, all the time.  And the playlist is of course MUCH larger.

This is why I listen to black gospel. Not contemporary.
Obviously as Isaac said there is some that's for the bank, but most gospel I hear and love isn't.
Title: Re: In Sharing 492, Have Your Cake And Eat It Too
Post by: Lynx on February 24, 2014, 12:30:57 PM
Eh... black gospel has its fair share.  Mostly with black gospel the problem is show-offs, people who try to impress the listener with their vocal flexibility rather than just sing the song.  Black gospel is almost as bad for that as southern gospel, although of course showing off sounds much different in southern gospel.

But in every style there are some good singers and groups.  Like the Paynes for example.  :)

Jenn, what are some of your favorite black gospel groups?  I would like to broaden my horizons in that category - my music collection is deficient.

And Isaac, as far as Lou is concerned, please let HER version of your music collection remain deficient in that genre. I LOATHE, HATE, DETEST, and otherwise strongly despise Black Gospel. All the "yeah-yeah" and holding on to a note for a year, then repeating it ad nauseam- ick. Just ick.
And yes, I know Jenn and other lovers of black gospel are gearing up to hammer me.  :P

And, morning, all. I am back at work- something else I loathe.  Why couldn't I be rich?!?!  :pound: :pound:

One thing that drives me nuts in black gospel is when singers try to add "soul' to their singing, with no idea of what soul really is. Imitating a sound you heard coming from another singer is not the same as singing with true feeling.

I like a few black gospel groups, but, like you, have problems with that stuff and when they "harmonize" but it sounds like it's clashing instead of harmonizing to me.  I don't even know what to call that, but I HATE it.

Some people have soul. Some do not. Regardless of their color. I listen to a lot of soul, and I do in fact imitate it, but as a singer, and a very strong one at that, that's a form of learning for me. I listen to different types of music, different singers, who have different sounds, and ranges to learn. I can sing in all three ranges, from soprano to tenor to a low alto. Obviously I can't hit a HIGH rafter soprano note, not in full voice anyway, or sounding screechy, but I can sing pretty high. I didn't get this way purely based on my gift. Yes that was a factor, but it's also because I listen to other styles and ranges, and "imitate" it as you say, to learn to broaden my vocal range. And it works.

And triple post....lol

One of my best friends Andrea has a son Davis - well when he was little and learning to talk, we could never get him to say Jenn - it just sounded like chinese when he'd try. Andrea has always called me honey, and I call her honey back. So one day, we tried to get Davis to say Jenn, and he said "noney". As in honey, but it came out noney. So I have therefore been noney to him, and his now sister Madelyn.

I lead the Young Adult praise group - and we do the last Sunday night service of every other month.
I soloed on the Anthem, and as I started to sing, Davis jumped up from his spot on the floor and said "hey...that's noney singing".

Makes my heart feel all warm and full of love! Love that kid!

Dealer's choice, I need all of them. And strangely I do know what almost rap but not quite means. I have a few groups like that... Shachah, Anointed, Level 3:16, etc.
Title: Re: In Sharing 492, Have Your Cake And Eat It Too
Post by: MsJennJenn on February 24, 2014, 03:34:47 PM
Anointed is not in that category lol.

Choir: I'm not really sure, a lot of them have choirs with them. Like Marvin Sapp, Fred Hammond. Bishop Leonard Scott. Bishop Paul S. Morton, Byron Cage. Cedric Ford. Donald Lawrence. Earnest Pugh. Eddie James. Hezekiah Walker, John P. Kee, Kirk Franklin, Judacamp, Joshua's Troop, Kevin LevVar & One Sound, William Murphy, Kurt Carr, Miami Mass Choir, Myron Butler & Levi, New Breed, Smokie Norful,

R&B-Ish: J Moss, Antwaun Stanley, Ayiesha Woods, Deitrick Haddon, Charles & Taylor, Damita, Dawkins & Dawkins. Isaac Carree, Isreal & New Breed (although he kind of goes everywhere depending on the CD). Same goes for James Fortune & FIYA, Joshua Rogers, Men of Standard, Tamela Mann, Tasha Cobbs, Tim Bowman Jr., William McDowell

Rap, but not rap: Mali Music, Deitrick Haddon could also fall here, GI, Tye Tribett (which he kind of goes everywhere too), Victory World Music, 21:03

Rap: Flame, Trip Lee

As far as Soul goes: Mahalia Jackson! Mighty Clouds of Joy, this area is so broad, it's hard to distinguish "gospel" soul, from "r&b" soul. WHen I think of soul, I think of Mahalia, Etta James, Otis Redding, Ella Fitzgerald and that lot.

I think I am getting old. Lol. I like songs more and more for what seems like sincerity and consecration than anything else. With the exception of Mickey Mangun. I just don't get the appeal.

Roscoe, there are many black gospel songs I like but skip to the next song when it starts repeating. Very hype and insincere feeling.

I'm probably an average singer.

I like Vicki Yohe's first releases and then no more.

What I do listen to more often is revivalradio.net.  It's all kinds of apostolic. Not even pandora can provide that diversity.  There are still songs that I don't care for but I'm getting to the point where I'd rather listen to a twangy country song that an old church mother is singing though I do NOT like the genre.

Idk how to articulate it correctly I suppose.

I will listen to the occasional black gospel, but it is rare...very rare. Listening to the noise when Lou watches a "Madea" movie on her laptop is more than enough for me. :smirk2:

And just for the record, I am doubtless a below average singer. Just ask anyone who heard my debut song, "When God Unfolds the Rose" played on a local amatuer radio repeater.   :smirk:

Jenn: I know Anointed doesn't really belong in that list, but some of their songs get really close...

Mellowyellow: I've noticed a lot of singers and groups that do that, start out very good for the first few albums, but then somehow it seems they figure out how to make the sound on their own.

How do cook them?

1) Wash turnips thoroughly.
2) Get large pot.
3) Open every window in the house and pray for a stiff breeze.
4) Peel turnips and cut in chunks.
5) Put turnips in large pot with water and liberal scoop of butter.
6) Cook until soft.
7) Ignore phone calls, sirens, and swat team. Neighbors will swear you killed something. HAZMAT team should arrive shortly.
8) Scoop liberal portion of turnips in bowl. Add salt and butter to taste.
9) Take bowl to trash can, dump contents in trash.
10) Repeat with pot you cooked turnips in, but throw away pot also. You probably ruined it.
11) Disinfect house with fire to rid it of smell. In other words burn it to the ground. Do not take belongings, they are contaminated too.
12) Move to different city, state, or country. Never mention you cooked turnips. Ever.

Cooking turnips is simple 12 step program.

Thank you mini for starting my day off with a good laugh.

Although that's about the size of it.  I don't think God ever intended turnips themselves to be eaten.  Turnip greens, however, are good.

Every other weed and seed and piece of brush on the planet, and you've not had a turnip?

Well lands sakes.  :smirk2:

You can boil them, or fry them like taters.

You can peel and eat them raw for that matter, too.

Sounds like a lot of work, mini.  Not sure it's worth it.  :biglaugh:

Did you know dandelions are not American native?  I think I read somewhere that it was a staple for pilgrims. That just about everyone brought some over.  I've had dandelion flowers sautéed in butter and the leaves in "spring mix" at the store. Dandelion coffee is expensive so I made my own once. Just another tea really.

What makes one weed cultivated over another?  Just culture really.

There's some unique things I've tried I guess but plenty of things I haven't yet. I can't recall anyone I know ever talking about eating turnips. I don't think I've come across a recipe with turnips?  Lol

Wouldn't it be funny if in 25yrs nobody sells or eats them and people spray their fields to kill them because they're a hardy weed?  Hehehe

I don't know about turnips but in this region dandelions are already considered a weed, and sprayed, and killed... I never have understood why. I think they are beautiful.

Drink 2 liters of water instead of 2 liters of pop and get some rest, sir.  :nono:

Turnips are a Southern and European staple. They grow well, and in months when other produce wont. In Scotland they boil the roots and mash them like taters. The greens are some of the best tasting you can find.

Have you ever had Rutabagas? Those are similar to turnip roots.

Made it to my Friday! Yay! And in sharing, last night I picked up the Lincoln- the one that is NOT pink (sunlight, HeatherB,ect...) :pound:
Lou's relationship with the new ride started rocky. We drove it to church last night, and Lou, not being used to the size of the doors, snatched it open and promptly beaned herself in the right eye/forehead area...nice little knot. :sadbounce:
But- before we got to town, the woman who had made all those snide comments about the "old man car" looked at me and said, " I think this will be our vacation/trip car, it is so roomy and comfortable."  :P
And while the slings and arrows of the jealous flew my way when I shared the pic of the Stinkin' Lincoln on Facebook, I shall deal with them with pride, because my pleasant, quiet, floating cruise to work this morning at 70 mph, riding on heated leather seats and nary a whisper of road noise to muffle the Hinsons made me realize that I shoulda bought one of these boats four years ago when I started driving 120 miles a day.  :P And it shows an indicated 23 mpg, even with me running around town last night for quite a bit and jumping on the interstate...I'm thinking I can get it to 24 mpg pretty easy..Ah. Yes. I am old. And I could care less.

That's a shame about her getting knocked in the head.  Luckily, you are used to having to watch out for the bottom of the car door so it doesn't hit you in the face.  :P

And it is a lovely shade of pink, nice choice indeed.

Work is a bit sparse for Mr. Tall these days.  Such is the lull between winter and spring.  As soon as Hannah's homeschooling year is up I'm either going to see about getting more hours at one or both of my jobs or get another job.  Now if I can just keep up with the laundry in the midst of all that.  Summer makes cooking easier as both Nathan and Andrew can grill.

Hannah's 12 in two weeks and Andrew is 16 in three mo.  So many emotions.  I'm a pre emotional person.  I see it coming, start dealing with it and by time it gets here, I'm pretty ok. Lol

I just don't understand folks that say send "positive thoughts" my way.  What good do my "positive thoughts" have for another person.  Prayer is what changes things, not positive thoughts.

Texas will become it's own country before that happens. There is already talk of separation. It would be interesting to say the least.

There has been talk of separation for quite some time.  Someone gets up a "Texas needs to secede from the Union" petition after every presidential election, and again whenever the president or federal government does something unpopular.

I think we should keep Texas. I have no problem with the idea of sawing California off to drift on its own, though. Pleasant thought indeed.... :biglaugh:
And in sharing- my siatic nerve has flared up again, leaving me in a small amount of pain and unable to walk without limping.  :sadbounce:.. And I went by the revenue office and got all of the licenses renewed on all of our cars, including licensing the old man ride. Timed it perfectly, I thought- about 20 minutes before they closed, and no line. Then their computer system acted up, resulting in several calls to tech support in Little Rock. An hour later, I was out of there..at approximately twice the price of what I had expected. Fat crooks. MY tax dollars pay for the road, so why should I have to buy a license to drive on MY road?!? Jerks. I am so in an anti government, anti tax mood today. :P

Put in my notice at the animal hospital. My last day is March 12. I'll go to ladies conference the 13-15. I'll start my new job the 16 or 17. No more getting urinated on my nervous dogs. No more picking up maggoty skin cats. No more step-brats. No more wrestling 130 pound German Shepherds. No more Mr Oliver [pervy old man who likes to tell me about his sponge baths.] What a glorious day the 12th will be!!!!!

[on a side note I will still be petsitting for the clients I have picked up through the animal hospital. I spoke to most of them today and they want to keep me on call. ]

I got off my butt and got the ham radio put in the Stinkin' Lincoln, aka Pearl, per Chey..
And I got a letter that would've given your average male my age a heart attack today. Nearly gave me one, too, even though I knew it had ZERO possibility of being true. Apparently, your wild, youthful indiscretions can come back to haunt you years later....
See, finding a letter with your name and address on it, with the sender being the state Child Support Office, is guarenteed to cause the heart to race..I tore the letter open to find them advising me that it appeared that I was the father of not one, but TWO kids and was behind in child support.  :o After nearly choking to death on my Dr. Pepper, I discovered it was addressed to a Robert S Moses, NOT Robert L Moses.
I called the agency to tell them of their mistake, and told the lady that I spoke with that 1) the only child I have was busily destroying her bedroom at that moment, 2) that my wife is the only woman ever in my life and 3) I would not have had the bad taste to saddle two innocent children with the names "Ruca" and "Magdalena".
I then informed her that if my wife had gotten the mail before I did, she'd not have noticed the wrong middle initial, and I would be deceased by now.  :sadbounce:    The lady apologized, which would not have resurrected me, I am sure. They were supposed to call me back, but never did.
In the mean time, Germ and Taco have been having quite the good time harassing me about it, and my pastor didn't even take my side. :sadbounce:

Apparently, some believe that I *might* have been a wild child in the past....Nope. Never was THAT wild... :laughhard:

Maury! Maury! Maury! :demand:

Hello all! Im alive and well.

To get in on the turnip conversation...I love turnip greens...and I like the root, but only chopped small and cooked with the greens. I love collard greens too, but mustards, not so much. And boiled okra is amazing! I love okra any way you cook it. Im a true southern gal.

Sooo. Mom is fine at the moment. She wants to move to Panama city in a home, and we are trying to get her there. Red tape and medical stuff about financial support and changing states and yadda yadda...we are working on it. Dad wants to go too, but we are not encouraging that. Although if he moves in the home with her, he wont be abusing her and as a plus he will also get proper care. He is repentant now, and mom says that he acts like he doesn't remember doing any of the things he did. Like hes blocked it out or something.

Everything is good with me. Just spent last weekend in Panama city and had a lovely time. I am still flying off that...and since I got back, my manager has had me working non stop every day! I gave up two of my off days to go to work. I am exhausted and so tired, but my check will look great next wednesday!

In other work news, the store sold. The whole store. Winn Dixie bought three of our stores in the area cause they were out-selling the WD stores nearby, so they just bought us out. What does that mean? It means that my brother and I wont have a job come May 3rd. But WD has offered all part time people a position at the WD stores. Im not sure what Im going to do yet, and John already secured himself a job elsewhere. Im not worried though...Ill be fine. God gave me this job, He can give me another.

Today Im off. So far I slept in till 9:30, talked on the phone, caught up on GP and FB, and now Im about to get a shower, eat lunch, and then Kendall, Aaron and I might go fishin!

Found a local produce co-op. Finally remembered (and had the money) to sign up for it Monday.
Picked it up today. 6 fruits - 6 vegetables is what you are supposed to get.

I got:
Strawberries (that are huge), baby tomatoes, mandarin oranges, grapefruit, cabbage, lettuce, jicama, asparagus, broccoli, peppers, bananas, & english cucumbers (which are seedless I hear?).

I love it too - and it's rarely less then $4.99 a bunch. Those three bunches alone were worth the whole batch!

What I made with the first bunch of asparagus tonight.

Asparagus pasta with pan fried garlic and lemon. It's delicious!! Should have thrown in some shrimp.

Prayers for your family Jenn. ::HUG::

I'm currently on the TN side. Plus Pigeon Forge is a lot closer than Williamsburg. It's odd they fell on the same weekend though. They are usually a month or so apart. We have some ladies who go to both since our city straddles the state line.

A family rescued a black lab that wasn't making it very well in a harsh cold snap about 6wks ago.  They got her home, warmed her up realizing she was pregnant. TEN puppies. They weren't ready for that so they been desperately trying to find them homes. The puppies are now 6wks. They are set up in their barn. I offered to foster whichever one is the runt, housebreaking it while trying to find it a home.  We have a great dog already that is the right size for where we live. We cannot keep a second pet, especially this, what the vet thinks, is a lab and Pyrenees mix. BIG. I'd keep it in a heartbeat if we had land to facilitate it.

I'm not such a softy about animals but it's 15* right now and tomorrow is supposed to get to -25* w/ the windchill. That sweet family trying to do right by these puppies, I can at least potty train one and let the kids love on it until we find a home. It's free if anyone wants it.

My new foster baby:

No church for me this morning either. And apparently we don't livestream any more. I have homework up to my eyeballs. I'm currently in the midst of writing a paper about whether current technological advances are our friend or foe.

We are supposed to get ice and snow tonight/tomorrow. I can't decide if I want it or not. It would be nice so that way I don't have to go to work and have more time for homework but I kinda want to work to make the money and say my goodbyes to clients.

I indeed would. The few short months we have Texas "winter" about do me in.
Church got canceled cus of it. Although it's all wet mostly. I just got out and went to Whole Foods and it was ok.

All for the best I suppose. Need to start studying for my Biology lab midterm tomorrow....*cough*

Paper is mostly done except for my closing paragraphs. Play has been watch. Now to study for my Anthropology and Theatre tests I have on Tuesday. Haven't even touched my Sociology study guide. That test is Thursday.

Thanks to my English teacher I have found my new favorite music while studying. I constantly have music going. At home. In my car. Singing it if not hearing it. Sometimes the lyrics distract me from my task. She had us listen to a cello duo called 2cellos. So now I have them and another group called Dallas String Quartet on my Amazon player. They do covers of popular songs but all instrumental. It's awesome!

Yup, that puppy is in the family to stay, looks like.    :teeth:

In local news, driving to work today was FUN!  Ice on all the roads.  More than 3/4 the work force reported to work, and this is Tennessee, so you know the roads were still navigable... but there was some sliding into ditches by people who just don't know how to drive on snow and ice.

Unfortunately by the time we got out of work all the roads were clear.  Ah well, I had my fun.

By decree of the Governor all state colleges were canceled. Which is a bummer because I was ready to go at least take my Theatre test to get it out of the way.

My roommate text me today to let me know she brought a cat home..... I'm still undecided. He's cute and all but the current plan is for him to stay with us a week then head home to Cornersville [wherever that is] with her to her moms house over spring break next week. So, I'm trying not to get attached. I am however bringing him in on Friday to have his shots and be neutered. No cat needs those tumors hanging around.

It's a brisk 14° now so it was colder the 10x I took the puppy I out last night.  I'm not sure which is more challenging, a newborn baby or puppy?  Taking a puppy out in the middle of the night a number of times and it whimpering to sleep with us, and her trying to teeth on my face,  or getting up to crying and changing diapers.  At least with nursing you can just bring baby to bed.  This puppy's schedule is the same as a newborn's.

I've got to read up on breaking biting. She literally just went from her mama and siblings in a barn to us yesterday afternoon so she's totally from scratch!

Lord, send a family with a farm.

She's feisty....very very hyper. And also skittish at the moment.
She kept trying to get our other two dogs (half chihuahua/half jack russell) to play with her last night and they weren't having it. They just sniffed and inspected and barked. lol

Whoever takes her right now needs to be around all day and all night.  She isn't potty trained, doesnt sleep through the night and is pretty thin. I was told she was weaned too early so I'm watching what I feed her.  If someone hasn't taken by time she's at least sleeping through the night, let's talk if you're serious. She comes across kind of dainty, but she's a baby so she may not be.

Pyrenees get very thick coats and someone told me they need shaven in the summer if it's warm regions.  Idk if that's true or not.

Currently she's asleep. Lol

As long as the coat is taken care of [brushed regularly, no matting, etc] that is a myth.

So no ladies conference and no spring 'break' for me. I will start my new job on Tuesday. My last day at my old job is Wednesday. I will be at my new job Thursday and Friday. He is desperate for help. He had another person give notice this past week and his last day is next Friday. They are already talking of promoting me as soon as I'm eligible.

2 tests done and my paper is already submitted. 1 more test on Thursday then no school for a week. Wahoo!!!!

And I detest male cats who still have their boy parts. Our apartment smells very strongly of cat urine. I'm just glad it's all in the box and not all over the house. UGH!

Applied to join up with the team from http://7minutefix.com/
Had to write an article, plus design the header for it, on "3 Goals of Every Hyphen Ministry".

Just finished that up. Gotta say I'm pretty stoked.

JennJenn: Did you say where in Oklahoma he was from?  I probably read it, but can't remember.

Meller:   Pretty pup.  Raising ours, I had the same thoughts.  It's like raising a infant.  But they are great when trained right.  Not like the devil dog Melb had to live with.

Speaking of Melb, my heart goes out to you for the situation with your parents. But props to some good posting...

In other news, I need to do a very long post somewhere.  In the mean time, I sincerely ask for prayers for my little Cajun queen, chelleebelle.  Physically, mentally, spiritually.  And me, for the same reasons.

Did poop and cleaning today.

Guess I'll do cards tomorrow.  The boss called today and said I got a raise...I still make a paltry sum, but hey, I'll take it.  :P

Dad has a surgery on his eye Thursday to do something to tighten the saggy eyelid so it will close better and such.

That's the story on the stupid teenagers that killed the local man here.  It's like the plot of a TV show.  They had an elaborate plan.  Sounds like maybe they didn't intend on him actually dying, but they shot him and beat him as part of the plan.  Insanity.  They don't deserve to ever see the light of day again.  Stupid kids.

People need Jesus, good grief.

Praise Report! The "spot" is still in the same location on my brain, but it IS NOT AN ANEURYSM OR CANCER. The radiologist is unable to determine it's "origins or makeup", "Further test may need to be run to determine if it is a foreign body." (Broken piece of bone, metal, or who knows what.) Thank you JESUS it's not "an eminent risk"! Thanks for the prayers!

Re: Devil Dog

No, I don't deal with Furby anymore, now I have Bear. Dear lord what is with my family and these small stupid ankle biter dogs?! Bear is a full blooded miniature yorki. UGHH. I HATE SMALL DOGS. Donna takes him out ALL THE TIME, seriously, I witness this, but as soon as we all leave the house, he poops and pees everywhere. He has one spot in the middle of the kitchen as you walk in the back door where he poops, and then he has about three different spots he pees in. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Even if he had just went out two minutes before the last person left. When we are home, nothing. Never an accident. Just when we are all gone. Plus he barks at me. All the time. I come home from work, he barks. I come in from checking the mail, he barks. I can be in my room or the bathroom for a mere 5 minutes and when I come out, he is running up and barking at me like I'm a stranger. I've lived in this house with him for two months now! Sheesh! I'm not a stranger anymore! :frustrated:

And once again, he is not MY dog and I live here free so I can't say anything. I just deal.

He is a wee bit better than Furby. But not by much.

In other dog news. We had to let our German Shepard go. He was puking constantly and eating sand and never gained any weight. Plus with Aaron and I working all he time, and home having to stay at Granny's, she was getting weary of looking after him. So he's at the shelter and we saw on their website that he is up for adoption, and they changed his name from Winston to Arthur. Yuk! Lol

I'm headed to work in a few. Wont make it to church tonight. It is payday though! Yay!

Stayed home last night. Work today. Only 4 shifts left at that dreaded place. Got peed on and bitten today. Not by the same animal. I expect my knuckle to be sore and bruised in the morning. Was pouting because I haven't gotten to really see Brandon except this past weekend. Even then we spent all that time in the library doing homework and studying. Called him when I got off work and he was already headed home to do homework. So I went on to church. We always all go up front and worship at the altar during song service [I know A LOT of people don't do that and we get odd looks from new people. It's just what we do] and lo and behold as I was headed back to my seat if Brandon wasn't sitting there!!. It just surprised me. He says it was just to see me but I really believe God is working on him.

Alright. Lets go study for this test tomorrow....

Bobby you should read "Making Mammon Serve You," a book on financial matters from a biblical perspective.  Getting out of debt, saving, IRAs, and a chapter on tithing, among other things.  In the tithing chapter the author deals very well with the question of "Is tithing mandatory?"

My pastor just preached a good sermon recently. "Disciples have stewardship" or something along those lines.

This puppy is choleric. Even when she's playing it's a bit serious.  Nice challenge for me. Lol. She is really wanting to bite a lot so I'm working in that, and pack leader stuff. I may have made my dog too submissive as this puppy could probably dominate him easily. I don't want him to bite her back though, and hurt her.  She's playing, he is_not. :)

I'm reading some more on it all. I did NOT know that yawns aren't always yawns but a show of teeth, pre aggression. I didn't realize I should be trying to train her for more than potty.  Needing to work for food and affection makes them the happiest so I have got to figure out how to do that. Right now if she smells the potential of a meal being served her, she goes a bit ballistic.

Not being able to have more babies, this puppy is a nice distraction from that.

Heather, how much should getting her fixed run?  I'm thinking we might do that soon.

Mellowyellow: Ah, so that explains it. In the interest of not getting knocked over when I fed my dog, I trained him to wait on command until I said okay. What you said about them being happier when they have to work for their food might explain why he seems to enjoy his food more now, and why he was willing to learn that so quickly.

My lord, I am hurting....20 bags of QuickCrete lifted, mixed and poured today. But at least the Tower of Babble, to use Seth's term, is moving along nicely...
Found out today that they promoted a coworker- don't know why, since he's not done anything outstanding, but that's neither here nor there. Doesn't bother me, I'll do my 8 and go home, but it has some of my other coworkers majorly steamed. Wish they'd take a chill pill and realize that it doesn't affect them, it probably wasn't personal, and if they just shut up and do their job, God will work it out, but you can't tell them anything. I've tried. Now to practice holding my tongue to keep from destroying a long held friendship...

Ugh.  This has been one of those mornings... I was going to stop by a local restaurant and pick up two sausage-egg-cheese biscuits, then go to church and type the bulletin, then drive the church bus.  Just as I was pulling out of the driveway, my phone buzzed - a text message from Miranda, who rides the bus with me (legal reasons, indemnity y'know) "You running late?"  Oh shoot... the time change!

In my defense, in the many years I have been doing this stuff, this is the first time the time change ever caught me off guard.

So I redirected to church immediately.  When I got there, we found the bus driver's side door lock was broken.  In the "locked" position of course.  Then halfway through the bus route the gas light came on.  Someone dropped the ball there, forgot to fill up after the long trips the youth group took Friday night and Saturday.  Then when I got to church I typed the bulletin during Sunday School, ignoring the howls of protest about it not being done yet.  Bleh.

Maybe tonight will be better.

Never to [hopefully] see them again. Missed church this morning but did pop in online on a local church some friends attend. Went to a friends house for a small grill out. If anyone every tries to tell you Thomas Jefferson was a "Christian" Founding Father you just tell them they are dead wrong and give them my number.

Been checking into incorporating our church, and found out that Thomas Jefferson wrote it into the Virginia Constitution that no religious organization had the right to incorporation. In 2005 Jerry Fallwell won a lawsuit saying that was unconstitutional but it didn't change Virginia's Constitution. So you can pay a huge sum for a meaningless paper saying your incorporated that really offers no legal protection to the church. All thanks to one of the earliest Democrats! :)

I don't understand.   Why would a local church want to be recognized as a business?

And how does prohibiting the secularizing of a religious group make him not a Christian?

He felt religion had no right to the protection of incorporation. He also felt he needed to chop up the Bible and put it back together to fit his views. Incorporation offers legal protection to the church leaders (pastors, ministry) his view was they had no need or right to those protections.

It's like if you sue McDonald's you sue the corporation not a person. If they aren't incorporated you sue the owner. Not, being incorporated leaves the ministry open to any lawsuit against the church. Also, it affects property ownership. An incorporated church owns property as a group of members under the corporation. Unincorporated churches have to have their property in the name of the pastor or trustees. There are many more reasons I can list why incorporation is important to churches.

Also, many reasons I can list how Thomas Jeffersons views opposed Biblical Christianity.

blah blah blah. that's all i heard today.

I'm really kinda stressed about my parents. They are on a very hard road and one that doesn't look to be letting up any time soon and now my sister is pouting because they can't help her buy a car  I'm fairly certain I bought my first car at 20. It was only 2000 bucks but I earned it. She can't get a loan for any more than that and she doesn't want that kind of car. She feels entitled to a nicer car than that. Maybe she should have thought about that before she drank her way through the past 4 years........

Start AZ tomorrow. Only there half a day then I'm taking Brandon to wild, wonderful Richlands, VA to meet my Papaw.

Long day today. But it was so pretty when I got home,I had to fire up the grill for dinner. But, I cannot grill just a couple items, so I cooked half the freezer's contents. :smirk: Grilled marinated pork chops, steak, chicken kabobs.... it was delish. Good way to break in the grilling season- and break out the waistbands of my pants.  :P

Today was such a nice day that I let my far-too-energetic dog off his lead, got out my bike and had a nice run with him down to the creek.  We both went in fifth gear down to the creek, and we both came back in about third gear.

I sincerely don't have much knowledge in the subject.   While that may mean what it does now, it sounded like he didnt wantnchurches to become businesses manipulating economy under the name of the church. Seeing as that is what they came out of.  I don't know much of him really but I do know that much of the context in which laws were made back then is lost on our understanding based on our current systems.  I could see how 200 years ago not wanting a church to be a corporation would be valid.

Among the sayings and discourses imputed to him [Jesus] by his biographers, I find many passages of fine imagination, correct morality, and of the most lovely benevolence; and others again of so much ignorance, so much absurdity, so much untruth, charlatanism, and imposture, as to pronounce it impossible that such contradictions should have proceeded from the same being.

-Thomas Jefferson, letter to William Short, April 13, 1820

He had issues with the church!

The list of quotes against God and scripture from letters and journals could feel books. It's been an interesting history lesson. While he wrote this in private yet praised relegion enough in public to make most think he was a Great  christian.

You know that feeling you get in that moment when you realize there is a bill coming up that you forgot about?  Kind of like a burst of static in your brain, or maybe a mental connection overloaded and fried something... Taco, I'm not defending him at ALL.

But in such subjects I have found people judge past generations based on current understanding and revelation.  Everything the American forefathers understood was out of an experience of what the chuch of England had established.  It's like people who disdain churches with standards because they came out of a legalistic tic and truly spiritually abusive church. Their statements are so far off but they are based on a narrow experience.

When I consider how the dark ages led most of the world to a place of no revelation and look through history as Christianity progressed, I have such grace for the founders of those who brought revival to Europe but also Azuza street and the founders of our organizations that had some things wrong by OH how far they'd come!  We have not arrived yet, there is still growth for us and the church and our views are based on our history and our current state.

I can't help but wonder if Jefferson criticized the only God he was taught, the God of the Church of England and it's disgusting corruption. It's hard to see Christ and the church in the right light when all around there is hypocrisy, not just flawed humanity but purposeful dishonesty.

And I then wonder the the response from who he was writing?  Was he still being discipled?  Haven't you taught Bible studies to hose who are basically upset with the limited knowledge they have skewed through their experiences?  They are mad at God and scoff at the church but oh when they are taught and see what the church IS and that it can be, they are sold out. Some push the envelope and ask hard questions and because they want to see if it can be explained IF God really is that.

That may not be T. Jefferson but that is what went through my mind at your very first post.  Did he mean it in the context it's seen NOW?

We are blessed to be on the otherside of that trench.

Anyone interested in buying some church pews? I'll make you a deal!

Praise God we're finally switching to chairs!

We also have a Yamaha electric organ for $150 that works.

Anyone know anything about taking a vinyl wrap off a church van? We have a heat gun I just have to figure the rest of the process out now.

...So...honesty, trust, loyalty, courteousness, kindness... and his personal favorite saying : Do unto others"
MY, I would hate to be in suspense if I were on your side, have you heard of Melaleuca?
I'm selling memberships so people can buy it..
kind of like memberships at Costco or Sam's Club, except you have a chance of making a prophet if you really want to..
The next question?
How much is membership?? It is $1.00 until Saturday, and If I get 10 people to join, I will make $1,000.00 on April first...
All my friends get the same opportunity...
*Yes there is more.... But I promise it's all good...*

Speaking of mechanical devices and oil... My Ford Windstar started beeping at me that the door was ajar.  Very annoying to be beeped at by your own beeping vehicle every five beeping seconds or so.  Then the interior light started not going off when I shut the door - that part worried me.  Worse yet, my mechanic said the door-ajar sensor is in the door latch in Ford vehicles of that era, and he never had much luck getting them to work right if they messed up.  Why can't Ford put a plunger sensor on the door frame like normal car makers?

So I googled "1997 ford windstar door ajar" and got a lot of answers.  They all boiled down to "spray the **** out of it with WD-40."  Their phrasing, not mine.  Oh, and take an eraser and buff the oxidation off the contacts on the side door.  So I did these things and it worked!

Three points for google and online help forums.

Is this another of those pyramid schemes?

What is Melaleuca, and why did you join it?  Aside from selling memberships to other people, what is the benefit to me in joining?
I joined it because my grandmother used it all my life and I LOVE what they are about and the products they have, but I don't sell or deliver any products..
There are lots of benefits, it's ecofriendly, the products really work and smell good, if you want to make money with it you can, your pets will enjoy the products, there are fundraiser opportunitys for the church...
I'm new at this part... I'm not a good explainerer, I've used Melaleuca a long time (years) I just really enjoy it, believe in it, and want to help others like I've been helped.
Bottom line, it's about wellness.

I hope that helped some...

My zucchini bread is divine. Melodya you'd like this recipe - it's a gluten free one. Which I did except for the flour lol.

Kmymbir:  I am going to hazard a guess that Melaleuca is a vendor of some sort.  Do they sell health food, like a healthy version of Schwan's?  Or is it more like Avon?  What do you buy from this Melaleuca?

Had to miss the last session of ladies conference this morning. I drove home last night and am getting ready to head back over to Richlands. Got a call Thursday night that my papaw [the one i just saw on Tuesday] was taken to the hospital on Wednesday having seizures. He's in ICU and they are looking at putting a pacemaker in. Keep him in your prayers please.

Anywho ladies conference was AWESOME!!!! Only a few snafus. The first night I had a couple different people [not from my church] keep trying to pray for me to get the Holy Ghost as I was praising and worshipping while speaking in tongues. I very politely told them despite the tattoos I have been baptized for 13 years now and thank you so much for the encouragement. Also somehow I ended up getting put into a room with my former mother in law who normally I have no problems with. But once she started preaching to me about how long my hair would be if I'd just obeyed her son so long ago how much better my life would be. [Made even better by the fact she just recently got back in church in the past year after being out for roughly 10 years or so...] Thankfully my pastors wife was also in our room and she put a kibosh on that conversation.

For the first time ever, I went out to feed Dan and there was food left in his bowl from last night.  Maybe he's sick?  Nah, he still jumps far too much to be sick.  Maybe when I let him off his lead to play for a while he went around the neighborhood panhandling for snacks.  I thought he was gone an awfully long time yesterday.

:hi: Rainy day here...and I'm perturbed with Chevrolet. Rusty has a leaky oil pressure sensor. Looks to be a $25 part and a twenty minute job. I get online this morning to see about ordering it, and found that Chevrolet used at least four, maybe as many as EIGHT different sensors for the same engine, none of which are interchangeable. I have to take the blooming thing off before I know which one to order. Morons. That makes NO sense. :pound:

Cold here.

Pretty windy.

The other day it was really windy and a light pole in the pasture down past my sister's house broke at the bottom somehow, and the powerline leaned over against a pine tree and almost burned all the way through the limb of it.  A fire truck was there and the light people....but they just tied a rope around the light pole and tied it to a tree on the opposite side of the road to hold it away from the pine tree....  I guess they'll fix it this week.  :freaky:

It's gloomy and rainy here. It needs to not rain at least for a little while so the blasted Nascar fans can watch their race and LEAVE!

Went and had breakfast with my parents this morning. Took breakfast to Brandon since he had to work. Went to church. Had a relatively short service due to the race traffic and our entire praise team [minus a singer and the bassist]  is at the track working concessions [our biggest fundraiser twice a year].

Now I'm home. Doing laundry. Fighting taking a nap. All Ive wanted to do for the past few days is sleep. It's getting old. I'm ready for my energy to return please....

So over women/girls being deceived that that beauty and power is their sexual attraction.  It's in and outside the church. Their esteem is in their looks, ridden with comparisons.

If we are separate from the world then we aren't going to even use the same perspectives as the world that defies the sovereignty of God.

There was a bird in our chimney today.  I had to fish it out while ago.  A wild bird, not my bird.  :P

And earlier when I was in the chicken house getting eggs, I heard something that sounded like a moose bellowing and thought, what in the world was that?  When I came out of the chicken house, the chickens that were nearby were all looking down at the road, and there was all my sister's cows....  And as quickly as they came, they turned around and ran back down the road.  A goat untied the gate or something? :eyebrow:

Was only scheduled 22 hours this week and I'm already between 26-27. AND I still have to work tomorrow.

Going to the basketball game in a bit. I haven't been to one yet and we are currently in tournament play. So go Bucs!!!

Worked a deal with my sister on a lawnmower, so I went and got us a new one. Simply tired of always working on the 8 year old John Deere. I may have to pick up cans to pay for this one, but I've got a shiny new zero turn Bad Boy in the storage shed now. And boy is operating a zero turn lawn mower a trip when you've never drove one. I looked like a drunk skunk trying to unload it and mow the church yard. 'Course, Bro Wilson didn't look any better when he tried his hand at it...:P
Supposed to rain tonight. I hope it doesn't mess with my new beam before I can get it on top of the tower of Babble.
And btw, Herbgirl, I actually have just one mast with an antenna on it, the partially completed tower of Babble, and the top section to the tower bolted to my shed for testing. I don't have extra terrestrial communications- YET. But the Hexbeam DOES resemble something you would talk to an alien with, I've been told..

We lost. But it was fun going none the less. I sat beside the sweetest old lady who gave me popcorn and a free drink. She retired from teaching nursing at the school and spends all her time now going to all the athletics. She already has her season passes for the football team [which we don't have one until Fall of 2015].

I have found this awesome thing called Skype [I know I'm WWAAAAYYYY behind the times....] and was wondering if any of you heathens also Skype? Since it doesn't look like we are having a get together anytime soon nor will I be able to go a meetin people with my school schedule. Just a thought.

I had Skype multiple times because friends would say they are on Skype and I should call them up sometime.  I'd reinstall Skype, try to remember what my nick and password were, have a conversation... and then they'd never call again.  Apparently I'm boring to talk to in realtime.

Now I can't do Skype because I'm subsisting on my phone's internet connection.  Though my phone can broadcast a wifi connection for my laptop to use, it is far too slow for realtime voice channels.

In local news, it is such a beautiful morning today that I let Dan off his cable to run around free for a while.  Seeing an energetic dog who has just been set free running around the yard for the sheer joy of running is an inspiring sight first thing in the morning.  But it makes me really regret the necessity of keeping him on the lead most of the time, and it makes it harder to bring myself to put him back on the lead later in the day.

Shew, Lord. I be tarred....... I went grocery shopping and spent way too much. And while I was there, I saw that Walmart's garden center was open, so I bought $10 worth of pansies, petunias, and marigolds. I repainted the letters  red on our "name log" that is in the little flowerbed by the road, and planted all those colorful little flowers there. Yellow, gold, deep purple, white and "peppermint"- red and white striped....the flowers make the flowerbed look like a colorful happy little place.
I then spent half of forever cleaning out behind the shop, which was a job in and of itself. It now looks much nicer. And I've mowed every square foot of grass in my neighborhood, just to play with my new lawnmower- including the neighbors. :laughhard:
I'd have weedeated but I discover I was out of trimmer line after I got back home and didn't feel like driving back into town.
Oh, and I picked up the part Rusty's been needing, now to get time to fix it.

Pretty, Roscoe!

Although, I don't understand why there is a grave/life size tombstone of what I would guess is your relative in the front yard?  Is it a southern thing?

Is that a bike tire around your flowers?

:P

I bet my yard looks like that under the snow. Lol. Actually nearly all the snow is melted that's not in the shade.

They prefer to eat your kind of "tomato plants" prepared in brownie form.  :P  :hypocrite:

If the plants were small, they might peck them...I'm not sure they're real keen on eating tomato leaves though.  They'd be more apt to just trample them and scratch them up till they were bigger....  But if they had tomatoes on them, they'd scarf down the tomatoes.

It's quiet and peaceful, with me and the dof the only ones up. I've gone and hidden in the radio room.

Been a good day. My antennas survived the wind we got, it was close to seventy degrees or so here today, and Punkin and I got Rusty out and went for a little drive/picnic/ flower collection. Then I came home and mowed the yard, weedeated, and played ham radio for a bit.
Sadly, I have to return to work tomorrow.
These past four days have flown by. Bah.

Flown by?  Come over here then!  We've been having youth revival this week, and our church is catering food for the local coon hunt meet.  Burning the candle at both ends... I found out ever since I switched to day shift at work, it's a lot harder to do these days that end at 2:30am.

I said a coon hunt meet.  A lot of guys bring their dogs, pair off with judges, go out coon hunting.  Whomever gets the most treed coons wins.  If there's a tie the two groups go out again OR agree to split the winnings.  This is kind of a big deal, as the winner gets a lot of money and people will pay much for puppies from his dog.

As a fundraiser our church carts food up there, cooks it on-site and sells it to the coon hunters.

All I know is I'm glad I'm not a coon hunter.  2:30am is when most of them go home but if there's a tie and the two groups that tied can't agree to split it they can be out until after 6am.  That's what they did Friday night/Saturday early morning, but we did NOT stay to serve food to the four people who came back.

I had a couple of friends that were big into coon hunting....but you'd have gone broke in a fundraiser with their group- unless you managed to get the Water-into-Wine miracle to occur again. They were of the school of thought that to catch a coon, you must think like him, and assumed he was drunk.  :laughhard:
And I'm back at work. The altenator light on the lincoln flickered on as  I pulled into the parking lot this morning, but went right out. Has me concerned..

I'm such a girl, and it's annoying sometimes.   The puppy we found a home for... She was still TINY.  The new family left her out in the yard for a few hours alone.  Something attacked her, punctured her lung and she finally died after surgery.   The owner told me that it was $900 vet care.

Not only is it upsetting, I'm crying like it was our dog for years, but telling me how much their stupid neglect cost them is agitating.  Really?  Leave a tiny puppy outside for hours and then act like taking it to the vet is redeeming?

Yes. Neglect is expensive.

I love a good joke. I love to see a good joke. Not mean or rude.  It's only not fun on poor sports.

I have a running joke with the worship leader about playing the tambourine. I think it'd be hilarious if the praise team all brought tambourines and whipped them out at practice like it was the most normal thing in the world.  :biglaugh:

But we won't.  Lol.

Can't stand a spoiled sport. If a person can't take a joke, it makes for a shallow friendship.

In other news, I guess we'll be paying the fine for not having insurance/Obamacare.   The fine print alone about it then having the authority to do what practitioners believe is best is scary to say the least. I wouldn't be surprised if the shot they say prevents cervical cancer (it doesn't) becomes another mandatory immunization.

I think this is where the depth of friendship DOES come in. But I don't think it's fair to say if the person can't take the joke, it makes for a shallow friendship....when obviously if they didn't appreciate said joke, then the friendship isn't as deep as you thought. So either you accept the fact they didn't appreciate your joke, and work on deepening the friendship, or move on about your business without giving it, or them a second thought.

I hate surprises. Very much. Only those that are super closest to me. In my inner circle (around 4-5 people) would know that. So if someone not in that circle were to surprise me, I would be upset. Only because I didn't like surprises. Not necessarily at that person. Nor would I consider them shallow. Our friendship just isn't/wasn't at the level for them to know the fact I hate surprises.

If that makes sense.

I think "not mean or rude" covers that.

What kind of person pranks a person they're not friends with?

Yes. If a person gets all offended by a light hearted joke that wasn't mean or rude, they are ridiculous.

But then again, I can't even fathom the scenario you present.  I don't go around pranking people so maybe it happens to "pranksters."

Isaac, the guy on the radio said that allergies would be bad this year here because trees usually pollenate in March but because of the crazy weather they are pollenating now at the same time as the plants.  Maybe that's what's happening  there.

Not anything long range.  The whole ham thing is pretty close to free- study , pass a test, and buy the equipment. I think the test fee is like 15 bucks, and that gets your license for ten years. As far as monitoring- I doubt they monitor it very much. It is mainly self-policed, if someone malfunctions majorly, amatuers report them to the FCC, which, if the reports ar many and serious, will go after the offender.

That's pretty neat, Roscoe.  I'm going to mention it to my guys, if that is something they'd be interested in.  Sometimes hobbies that are not time consuming school sports, expensive, outdoors all the time, are hard to come by in the city.  We all like to sing, piddle around on the piano, guitar, ukulele, but some days come up short still.  Lol

Random:

Ugh. I'm having a hard time finding a scripture I came across the other day about God not being pleased that Israel had every piece of land spoken for so that there was no where for a new family to go and settle.  I'm pretty sure it was one of the books of prophets but I cannot even remember the right verbage to look it up.  I'm not even sure that is the right context so I wanted to study it.

A little regulation can be a good thing. Think of the FCC as a chat room moderator. If a troll comes on causing trouble, you can report him to the moderator and get him kicked out. The nominal license is pretty good for keeping trolls from even showing up, and they are much easier to track if they do show up.

Also it makes sure that some teenager with his bright, shiny, new antenna and absolutely no clue is not cluttering up bandwidth he should not be on. Like those frequencies reserved for emergency use.
Title: Re: In Sharing 492, Have Your Cake And Eat It Too

Don't discount the teenagers. I've spoken with several hams from age 13-17 that were more professional on the radio than the aged...
And Meller, everyone immediatly thinks of tons of antennas, but truthfully, even an apartment dweller can do SOME radio. And as far as renters go, if you've got a couple trees, you can throw a wire antenna that costs 10 bucks to make up in minutes..
I made it through the day. The weather so far has not been bad at all, despite the tons of warnings we have had. I came home and put the new altenator on the Stinkin' Lincoln. True to form with ANY repair job, something had to go wrong- in this case, the plug that plugs into the altenator disentigrated on me, forcing me to rewire it. I managed to do so competently, it appears, as everything seems to be working well. Thank God for helping me avoid a $250 repair bill by directing me to cheaper, better quality parts and giving me the ability to repair it.

Bobby:  I used "teenager" as default.  What I mean is anyone who doesn't know anything about how it works or proper conduct, but he's able to get on the air just because he has the equipment.

Actually... the more I think of it, the more I believe a license should be required to access the internet as well.  Just something covering the basics - how to install and maintain an antivirus, making backups of the files you can't afford to lose, how to use common sense to avoid scams, that kind of stuff.  It sure would cut down on the number of people who ask me to fix computer problems that could have been prevented.

"Antivirus?  Yeah, it had norton but it only lasted 60 days.  That was three years or so ago..."  And they wonder why their computers are so bogged down with viruses.

Ten and a half hours and no posts?!? What's up, everybody quitting us? Man, I thought it was dead before... :sadbounce:
I've got the Lincoln repaired, done SOME work on repairing Rusty, and spent a large amount of my afternoon kicked back in a recliner, holding my 3 month old nephew and snoozing.
Now I've eaten a delicious dinner cooked by Lou, and I intend to do nothing more productive than, well, this. :P

Well, it's still on page 20.

I sorely sorely sorely need the Amish.

If I call the ASPCA and report myself, will they come and clean out my henhouse and pens?

With everything that has transpired around here in the last several months, it's been way way way too long.  A couple times a year or so in general, but I am way behind on it.

I saw a bald eagle fly over when I was at Chel's house today. :)
