Some of you may remember me posting a picture a few months ago of some fries that I bought at burger king on November 17, 2005. I decided to keep them to see how long they would last before they finally rotted away, or if they would ever rot away. (first sign of mold, they are outta here)

He didn't keep them IN the fridge, they're just sitting on top of the fridge.
The fries have set there for...lets see....nearly 7 months. Not a sign of mold anywhere.

I've never had fries around for 7 months, but, I have seen them after a few weeks and there is no difference. WOW, 7 months......that makes me want to NEVER eat fries from there again. I'm sure McD's, Wendys, etc...are all the same.

You should go back to BK and request another order of fries, without salt. That'll force them to make a fresh batch (they pre-salt all their fries). Then see if the non salted fresh batch has the same sort of staying power - it could be the salt is acting as a preservative.
Potatoes keep a long time anyway. Smear a little mayo on those beauties and they'll turn in no-time. :grin:

Reminds me of two things....1) Justin....cause he ALWAYS asks for no salt, so they will have to make fresh fries, no matter where we go, and....2) Pastor preached a SS lesson a few weeks ago about the Salt and its preserving power...

Ok so get this...I was at work the other morning, and I took the trash out...someone had a Burger King wrapper on the patio and it had some fries on it...there were ants all over the fries, so I picked up the wrapper, and dumped the fries on TOP of the ant bed...and then I threw the wrapper in the trash. So about a week later...I go out there, I think of the fries, and I go to the ant bed and look, and they are STILL THERE....ants cant even get rid of them :o

i thought of this article the other day.... i was in a friends car and opened one of the compartments in the back where kids stuff things and i found half a large fry... she said they hadnt eaten in hte car in several months i was rather grossed out lol

Seems to me this should show us how germ free the fries at BK are. They are safe to eat because all the germs were cooked off them and stay off them.

Hmmm... You need to buy new fries, Jeremy. BK now claims to fry without any trans-fats, so the next ones may not have as long of a shelf life. Hmmm... I wonder if it'll make any difference at all, though.

Ive been wanting to do this for a while. Cant remember if someone mentioned it or something. Here is a picture of fresh fries (bought at 12:18PM 02/17/11), compared with my 5+ year old fries.

Strange... I was thinking about those fries just last week or so. Are they still a perfect golden brown?
When I worked at... um... a local fast food factory, I would sometimes take home scraps from after-breakfast cleanup. My dogs would eat the sausage and round (real) eggs, but the folded eggs and biscuits were always ignored. Said folded eggs and biscuits are shipped in already made, frozen, ready to thaw out and serve. I think my dogs are smarter than a lot of people...
Thats why I prefer Hardees biscuits. They are amazing and homemade. :fork:
now days they're a bag mix that buttermilk is added to. In the old days the biscuit maker at Hardee's had to hand measure out everything.
Either way, its not some frozen junk. They actually have to add the liquid and bake them fresh. You can definitely tell the difference in the taste too.
Ill see if I cant get a few good pictures of the fries today. They have been sitting quietly on my shelf.
