Religion is worthless until it is able to move outside the walls.

I Refuse by Josh Wilson

Sometimes I, I just want to close my eyes
And act like everyone's alright
When I know they're not
This world needs God, but it's easier to stand and watch
I could pray a prayer and just move on
Like nothing's wrong

But I Refuse

I don't want to live like I don't care
I don't want to say another empty prayer
Oh, I refuse to sit around and wait for someone else
To do what God has called me to do myself
I could choose not to move

But I refuse

I can hear the least of these, crying out so desperately
And I know we are the hands and feet of You, oh God
So if You say move, it's time for me to follow through
And do what I was made to do
And show them who You are

I don't want to live like I don't care
I don't want to say another empty prayer
Oh, I refuse to sit around and wait for someone else
To do what God has called me to do myself
I could choose not to move

But I refuse

I refuse to stand and watch the weary and lost cry out for help
I refuse to turn my back and try and act like all is well
I refuse to stay unchanged, to wait another day to die to myself
I refuse to make one more excuse

I don't want to live like I don't care
I don't want to say another empty prayer
Oh, I refuse to sit around and wait for someone else
To do what God has called me to do myself
I could choose not to move

But I refuse

Lynx

Well I wouldn't take nothin for my journey now
Gotta make it to heaven somehow
Though the devil tempts me and he tries to turn me around
He's offered everything that's got a name
All the wealth I want and worldly fame
If I could still I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now
"Do you sing at church?"
"Yes I sing at church, I sing at home, at work, in the car, at the supermarket, at Wal-Mart..."

Lynx

Yes I've noticed all the bad news in the papers
And it seems like things get bleaker every day
But for this child of God it makes no difference
You know it's bound to get better either way
I have never been more thrilled about tomorrow
Sunshine's always bursting through the skies of gray
I just feel like something good is about to haaaaappen
And brother, it could be this very day!
"Do you sing at church?"
"Yes I sing at church, I sing at home, at work, in the car, at the supermarket, at Wal-Mart..."

God Didn't Come To Save The Angels
Mark Bishop
Possum Run Music/Centergy Music

Verse 1

An old man passed by a storefront mission,
Where a young man was standing outside.
"I know you're just passing through, but we're about to get started.
Would you like to come in for a while?"

He said, "I'd like to son, but you're asking the wrong man.
It's been twenty years since I've been to church.
I guess I quit going when my family left me,
Cause who needs a drunk out of work?"

Then a church bell rang somewhere in the distance,
And a moment of silence passed by.
Then the young man spoke with the voice of compassion,
Through the tear that had formed in his eyes.

Chorus

Saying God didn't come to save the angels.
If He did, there'd be nothing to do.
But He saw a world filled with imperfect people,
And He gave His life for He knew
That He had to save all these imperfect people.
People just like me and you.

Verse 2

To the unwed mother, or the junkie who's homeless.
To life's broken and battered and bruised.
From the slums in the cities
To the poor mountain family,
Each soul is worth too much to lose.

And sometimes the church forgets we have a mission,
To reach those who are hurting and lost.
For Jesus loved all the despised and rejected
So much that He died on a cross

Repeat Chorus

I've seen dreams that move the mountains
Hope that doesn't ever end
Even when the sky is falling
And I've seen miracles just happen
Silent prayers get answered
Broken hearts become brand new
That's what faith can do

Hope for the Hopeless

When hearts start to break
And emotions run wild
When it's all you can do
Just to paint on a smile
When tears start to flow
Down the lines on your face
You may feel there's no mercy
But don't give up on grace

There's hope for the hopeless
There is no need to fear
When all seems lost
Jesus is here
There is joy in the morning
You can find happiness
If you look to the Lord
There is hope
There is hope for the hopeless

In a world full of pain
You can never escape
You can run from your fears
But they'll keep up the pace
And just when it seems
That the race will not end
You will come to a place
Where the healing begins

There's hope for the hopeless
There is no need to fear
When all seems lost
Jesus is here
There is joy in the morning
You can find happiness
If you look to the Lord
There is hope
There is hope for the hopeless

I picked up the morning paper
It was filled with tragic things
I sat down to watch the tv
There were more depressing scenes
Seems like all this whole world over
Only sorrow can be found
Only looking up to heaven
Keeps us all from looking down

Here's a little good news!
God's still in control!
Has the power, still in business
Changing lives and saving souls
Here's a little good news
That'll ease your troubled mind
Jesus' church is getting ready
And it's almost leaving time

My music player reached the Hemphills last night and when it gets there it stays there for the rest of the work night because I have so many Hemphills albums.  "Consider the Lilies," "He's still working on me," "I'm not perfect, just forgiven...." My brain cycles through Hemphills songs for about a week afterward.
"Do you sing at church?"
"Yes I sing at church, I sing at home, at work, in the car, at the supermarket, at Wal-Mart..."

Wow. Talk about a trip down memory lane... I remember Mama playing those in her Ford Granada taking me to school as a small fry. I still love  "Consider the Lilies"- it's one of the most meaningful songs of my childhood to me.

I actually just sing - consider the lillies - at a ladies conference. It was beautiful.

I've heard songs about how people walk life's dreary highway
Songs of how they stumble and fall, how they slide and slip
But I am here to tell you there's victory in Jesus!
I know things could be better, but I enjoy the trip

I enjoy the trip, walking with the Savior
I enjoy the trip, holding to His hand
When life begins to taste a little dull, Jesus adds the flavor
At His table I will dine
I'm His and He is mine
I'm happy all the time
Cause I enjoy the trip

Even though the sun comes up and tomorrow may look brighter
I'm happy in the Lord today, He makes my load lighter
And it seems as if He seems to lift me up when I get weary
Some folks think I've flipped... but I enjoy the trip

And when I see
The way I used to be
It makes me cry
That You would die for me
I wonder if I'm worth what You went through
But then I catch a glimpse of You in me

Now I see me in a different light
There's a different kind of light in me
It sparkles and shines like the eyes of a child
With a hope I never thought I'd see
Now I see me in a different light
Cause this broken heart of darkness that You made right
Will shine on
Burn bright
In a different light
"Do you sing at church?"
"Yes I sing at church, I sing at home, at work, in the car, at the supermarket, at Wal-Mart..."

Press On  by Selah

When the valley is deep
When the mountain is steep
When the body is weary
When we stumble and fall

When the choices are hard
When we're battered and scarred
When we've spent our resources
When we've given our all

Chorus:
In Jesus' name, we press on
In Jesus' name, we press on
Dear Lord, with the prize
Clear before our eyes
We find the strength to press on

In Jesus' name, we press on
In Jesus' name, we press on
Dear Lord, with the prize
Clear before our eyes
We find the strength to press on
To press on
When the valley is deep
When the mountain is steep
When the body is weary
When we stumble and fall

When the choices are hard
When we're battered and scarred
When we've spent our resources
When we've given our all

Chorus:
In Jesus' name, we press on
In Jesus' name, we press on
Dear Lord, with the prize
Clear before our eyes
We find the strength to press on

In Jesus' name, we press on
In Jesus' name, we press on
Dear Lord, with the prize
Clear before our eyes
We find the strength to press on
To press on

All You had to do was raise Your hand
Speak the word, "Peace, be still"
And all the anger, all the fury of that raging storm
Surrendered to Your will

Even the wind and the waves obey
Why can't I?
Why can't I?
Where is my faith?  Is it lost at sea?
Lord help me be like the wind and the waves

Sometimes the storms of life take me by surprise
And my faith gets swept overboard
I hate it when I give in to all my sin
Instead of trusting in You Lord

Even the wind and the waves obey
Why can't I?
Why can't I?
Where is my faith?  Is it lost at sea?
Lord help me be like the wind and the waves

Sometimes I'll just start singing this to myself for no apparent reason.

Wait... sometimes I start singing a lot of songs for no apparent reason.
