Are we using our hard times and inconveniences to do what they were intended by God to do?  Or are we just fussing about the circumstances or dawdling around and not accomplishing anything?  We know we should use our talents, but what about the other?

I've seen some examples lately that made me think about this.

First example:

Someone has been out of work for over 2 years but they have been used by God in a phone ministry encouraging people from all over the country.  They also do outreach to nursing homes, among other things.

Next example:

A person lost their job and had nowhere to stay.  Someone took them in for a couple of days till they could figure out something and look for a job.  That turned into over a month... with many days of them never even leaving the house.  It seems to me that you would take almost ANY job in this circumstance (but keep looking when you can for that perfect one) when you have nothing so that you could save for a place of your own.

This made me think of all the "trials" we go through.  Is God looking at us and wondering why we aren't making some sort of move?  He asked Moses "What do you have in your hand" and Moses said "A rod".  It was just a stick, but after God got finished with it, it was called "the rod of God".

What do you have in your hand?  Are you using the things God has blessed you with, or even your trials for His glory?

He provided you with a place to stay so you could find a job and get on your feet... are you looking and willing to take something not so perfect?  Are you somehow reaching out to others even though you have needs yourself?

He gave you a love for the Word, are you sharing?
He gave you a talent for cooking, are you using it?
Can you sing?  Are you a mechanic?  Do you make children smile?  What do you have in your hand?
When God gives you opportunity are you using it?

When we have a work to do
And the task ahead seems bigger
Than you
That's when He steps in
When you know in your heart that
God's command
Takes more than can be done by man
That's when He steps in
He sees you at the point of your need
He sees you at the point of crossing your
Red Sea
In the moment you call
When you've given your all
He steps in, He steps in
And He'll say

What's that you have in your hand
I can use it, if you're willing to lose it
Take the little you have and
Make it grand
I am El Shaddai and I'll more than
Supply your need

When all you have is oil in a jar
That's a reflection of where you are
That's when He steps in
A little boy's lunch of fish and bread
Is all you have for the need ahead
That's when He steps in

Let Him take it and bless it and
Break it and give it
He'll multiply it in the moment you live it
And in the moment you call
When you've given your all
He steps in, He steps in
And He'll say

He'll say
What's that you have in your hand
I can use it, if you're willing to lose it
Take the little you have and make it grand
I am El Shaddai and I'll more than supply
I'll supply
I will supply your need
Religion is worthless until it is able to move outside the walls.

Yeah, that! It's even more powerful because I see you trying to live this yourself.
