Demand all you want. Threads are like people, some day they just die. Some die young, some die old, but in the long run..... they all die!
I guess to extend the analogy you could say deleted threads are like Enoch and Elijah... but the reason those two were taken before dying is a lot different from why most threads are deleted.

Really have a heavy heart, a couple if days ago we had to call an ambulance for one of our older men here, found him collapsed behind the building. He has been fighting pneumonia for well over a month now, he also has emphasema (sp?). He has been homeless for many years now. They dont think he is going to live much longer. He has mostly given up. He is such a sweet man. If you think to mention his name in your prayers, would appreciate them. His name is Bill.

rain rain rain. well, we need it.
I don't lol :noo:
I REALLYYYYYY hope it rains tomorrow. About 12. So they will cancel the STUPID PARADE! Ugh.
Mardi Gras?
Yep. I hate it. It goes down right past our church. And I'm supposed to help with the parking after church, and my brother is coming earlier than we thought, so I need a way to get out of it. Rain would be the perfect answer. It's rained all day today, the original date of the parade, but TWC says sunshine tomorrow. Lovely.
Haha.
:yell: gag on MG
I didn't know you lived in New Orleans. Or as they say, N'awlens.
She doesn't. But anywhere close to La seem to celebrate anymore.
I don't. But everyone here is stir crazy about MG. we live close enough to NOLA that it is a REALLY big deal.
I never once even thought about it when I lived in Florida. Is was almost non existent. But here? Sheesh. From late Jan till march, that's about all you see EVERYWHERE. Lights, decorations, beads, cakes, parades, moon pies, drunks and parties. Makes me SICK.
Wait... moon pies? That part I could actually go for.
The rest of it sounds like a lot of bother, trouble and stuff you don't want to be around. Especially if they get the beads in the traditional way... :o
Exactly.
Help me pray for rain. The physical kind, and the spiritual kind.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcgElNmoS_o
Sing! :sing:
I agree Mel, I've been praying for rain the last week I DO NOT want to do this tomorrow, Plus I'm still having physical problems.
But just so you know, If you leave me with it for your brother, I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN.
None of us but Wes want to do this.
Haha! I know! Pastor is praying for rain too.
Wes is alone...
:smirk2:

We sure had some RAIN! But not a drop from the sky! It was all JESUS!

mouth ulcers are from the devil. i currently have 2 of them. all because a stupid papillon decided it needed to head butt me the other day at work and busted my lip. small dogs....*grumble*
I don't even know what a papillon is...
If you can catch a mouth ulcer when it's really small and put salt on it, it'll clear it up. If you don't catch it then you can still put salt on it and clear it up when the mouth ulcer is large, but it'll hurt enough to make you wonder if it's worth it.

Didn't know that. I will remember that.
If you have already let the ulcer get large, take a couple of ibuprophen about an hour before you put salt on the thing. Otherwise you WILL go through the ceiling.

i like food.
I like food... but it likes me, so it hangs around forever. For a good 17 years or so I bounced between 160 and 170, not really doing anything to maintain that, just that's where I stayed. I weighed myself on the scales at work last night and I was a flat 190.
Or someone rigged the scales at work. Yeah, that's it. :teeth: I would have to assume they rigged ALL the scales, as I weighed myself on more than one set, but it's better than assuming they are right and I am gaining.
Yup, someone rigged the scales at work. All of them.
I like mozzerlla sticks but we got some the other day from Jack in the Box, I think and they were nasty.

todays new adventure is making lasagna. it'll be my first voyage. wish me [and Brandon's stomach] luck
I like lasagna but my husband doesn't, so I've never tried to make it.
Chel and I have made it together at least twice that I can remember. Maybe 3 times. All her visits kinda melt together and I can't quite remember how many times we did things and when. Lol
I made apple pie tonight
It turned out awesome. Brandon requested meat in it next time though. I think I may try some Italian sausage in it though. Does that sound good to anyone else?
I would want meat in it for sure.
Never heard of meatless lasagna...:eyebrow: I LOVE lasagna. That was the first dish Lou ever cooked for me, and I can live off of it...unlike the Communist Known As Mini, who hates it. And apple pie. And baseball. Basically, anything american. :pound:
My husband will eat spaghetti, don't see whats so different about lasagna.

Roscoe alleged that Mini hates apple pie. A serious accusation.
I *may* have stretched the truth a bit... but, anyone who doesn't like lasagna has to near certainly be a Communist and would probably dislike anything American, thus my assumption that he dislikes apple pie. And he has admitted numerous times that he doesn't like lasagna, or more importantly, Chocolate Gravy. I tell ya, he ain't southern, and I ain't thinking he's american with tastes like that.... :nono: :noo: :nono:
If you follow my logic, and my slightly twisted brain, it makes perfect sense. :hypocrite:
He's a terrorist!
Well you don't have to make up stuff about him not liking apple pie, because he's already convicted himself by admitting to not liking chocolate gravy. That right there is sufficient indictment.
Most folks around here have never heard of chocolate gravy.
And I learned yesterday there are some people who don't know any pudding but instant pudding.
*shudder*
Lots of folks don't cook any more.
Maybe how so many people stay so slim these days. If you don't have any GOOD food, there's no temptation to overeat.
Maybe that's what I should do, go on a canned soup diet.
Ick!
Yea, verily. Which is why I'd lose weight on it.

I feel so validated. You are in the south and it's not a big deal there. It is just what it says, chocolate gravy. From what I've had, it's not awful but I'll never have a reason or inkling to make it. If I want chocolate pudding, I'll do that, if I want gravy, I'll do that. The two aren't great together.
lol I guess, it needs to be a family tradition or something for folks to think it's a big deal. ;)
You lost me. lol
Seems like the folks that like chocolate gravy like it because it was a special tradition from their childhood or something.
ah, yeah, that makes sense.
I don't know about most people, but for me it was no special tradition. Just one of the foods we have here that I like.
Along with fried okra, cheese grits, buttermilk biscuits and a lot of other stuff those yankees miss out on.
Well I'm no Yankee by any stretch of the imagination but I don't do fried okra or grits.
No grits, I can understand - many do not like grits. But why in the world would anybody not like fried okra? The mind boggles...

Well....boggled mind it is. I HATE fried okra, squash, or just about any other fried vegetable, excepting fried green tomatoes. I can handle them in
small doses..

lol same here. I cannot for the life of me, understand what is appealing about the tasteless slimy okra? I'm convinced it's more about the breading... on all of those things.
Grits are ok. But I'd never choose to make or eat them unless I was at someone's house to not be rude. I make beautiful buttermilk biscuits. It's hard to mess those up though.
Nothern foods I don't hear many southerners mention are the various beans/lentils in soups, pastas, pastries, and cheeses. My friend makes a practically famous dish at the holidays. It's a corn casserole with gouda cheese. The more north you get, the more breads and cheeses there are. Strudel is to die for.
:proudYankee: :fork:
lol
Technically, I was born in Colorado, so what does that make me? Is anyone that's not in the south from Texas & east, Yankees?
Colorado wouldn't be Yankee. Not sure what but not Yankee. lol
I love grits, fried okra, squash, fried green tomatoes. Okra and squash are good not being fried. I am a good southren girl. There isn't many beans or veggies that I won't eat.
I enjoy a good pot a beans with ham and cornbread with a side of fresh onion and a tall glass of buttermilk.
:fork:
About the qualities of being a yankee: Anyone to the north of the person speaking is a yankee to the person speaking. I believe I've already mentioned the two cowboys in San Antonio, who were talking about Dallas: "Naw, I've never been up there. I can't stand them yankees."
So to Mel, people in Birmingham are yankees.
ha
Although born in Virginia, I tend to think more like my Maryland family. But I'll tell you this much, the only iced tea I drink better be sweet
Yankee roots, huh
We ate at a Charleston's restaurant in Oklahoma City on Sunday and I ordered tea and it wasn't sweet. I was surprised for OK to serve unsweet tea. Had to break out my sugar packets from my purse. LOL I accidently bought a box of RAW sugar packets instead of the actual sugar, they both come in a similar box. So I dumped them in my purse to use when I'm at a restaurant. Yes. I'm that lady. hahahahaha but only by accident.
Lots of restuarants only serve unsweet tea and let you do the sweetening. They provide the little packets of sweetener. It's cheaper to make only one kind.
I'm proud of my Yankee roots!
And there are plenty of restraunts here that give you sweet tea if you ask for tea
Pepsi for me ;)
Well I prefer Dr Pepper or Coke myself, but if I do drink tea it better be sweet

^^^Yeah that.
Down with Pepsi! :demand:
:pound: Mel
I would expand on that. Down with sodas in general!
Except sprite. When you're sick, sprite helps the stomach sometimes. Down with all sodas but sprite. :hypocrite:
Actually, I'm down to only one soda a day on most days. Trying to be more healthy.
Actually coke helps me with an upset stomach. Weird I know but true.
Just tellin the truth!

Me too. But I use Pepsi.
If I ain't had a Dr. Pepper, you probably don't wanna be around me. Things get broke. And people do to, if they are between me and D.P....
:o
So Roscoe becomes the Hulk!!!
Lol
You... you are making me thirsty. You will not like me when I'm thirsty!
LOL :laughhard:
*grabs a grape and throws at PF*
Yum! Thanks! Next time, get seedless. ;)
oops! I usually always get seedless. Sorry!
I saw these HUGE red grapes once and got them for my husband thinking he'd like them, I didn't even think to see if they were seedless, since they usually are. They weren't.
ugh! i'm a seedless all the way girl myself.
I don't like the seeds in the blackberry cobbler, either.
In my experience seedless - watermelons, blackberries, grapes, whatever, if it's seedless - has less flavor.
well you are weird
Not as weird as seedless watermelons. Pale, pallid, tasteless things.
You're pretty weird. :hypocrite:
what she said
I think if I agree with Isaac, he'll be further insulted.. LOL
I love goat yogurt. It's amazing.
:o
Is that the same as gogurt?
I'm fixing to make some hot cocoa with a candy cane as a stirrer.
No. But goat yogurt is yummy, it's not tangy like cow's. Tastes like pudding almost.
Interesting...
Mellers a weirdo with Isaac!!!!
Must be the weed...

???
I can't help but laugh at that lady on the escalator! I can just see my dad trying that! It's one of those things that isn't funny, but at the same time, it's hilarious!
I never said I wasn't weird. All I said was seedless watermelons are more weird than I.
Fair enough

One of my cats has decided she wants to try to bite everyone.
A little love nip the way cats will do, or viciously attacking?
I don't like cats that bite
She's just started it in the last couple days. I think she misses Mike. They hang alot. It's mostly only when I'm trying to get her out of the bedroom or when she's tried to run outside and I grab her. I told her the next time I'm leaving her too fat, declawed rump outside. She'd make a good snack for a wild animal.
haha
I'm making a strawberry cake with vanilla icing :fork:
Yum. I usually use cream cheese icing with strawberries in it. It's really yummy.
They didn't have cream cheese icing. It was sad. Vanilla was the 2nd choice. Was an excellent cake though!
Cream cheese icing in a can isn't real cream cheese icing. The real thing is easy to make though - stick of butter, block of cream cheese, some powdered sugar, a bit of vanilla.
Goes well on sourdough cinnamon rolls.
or fresh apple cake or most anything ;)
Or fresh apple bread.... mmmmm!

My hubby made beef tips & rice. :)
My dinner was a flop.
What was it?
Beef stir fry. I tried the saifun bean noodles and spring rolls.
It didn't taste right. I've eaten plenty of Asian food and this was way far off. Both mom had dad didn't like it either. It was a total failure.
I guess I can't hit home runs at every meal. I'm bound to strike out once in awhile right? Doesn't make me feel any better though. I put my meal in the garbage and ate a peanut butter sandwich. That's real failure. Lol
The bean noodles are odd. Were yours like melted strings of plastic? I think we tried mung bean noodles last month and while I kind of liked them, they were so hard to work with and I hadn't tossed them in oil after straining them. They were so bright and clear though, interesting for sure.
Made chicken enchiladas tonight, lasagna style.
Yeah. I wanted the rice noodles, but they were out at the store so I grabbed the bean ones. They were so pretty! Clear and bright. But tasted yucky.
Oh well.
I'm not as brave as y'all to try so many new things.
YOLO.
I just don't like a bunch of that weird stuff.
Quote from: MelodyB on December 11, 2012, 04:07:30 AM
YOLO.
:spitlaugh:
I might seem brave but I still tend to stick to things somewhat logical. Trying a new pasta? That's ok with me. Sushi? I can't be that brave... LOL
Im usually good about trying new things. I like to at least try them once.
And sushi is GOOD. There are only a few kinds I don't like. :fork:
What's wrong with sushi? It's just cooked fish.
Now sashimi, which is raw, that I am still a bit iffy on. I will eat it if it's properly marinated, but it's hard to find anyone who can do it right. And quick-marinated sashimi just tastes like plain raw fish.
Icky :P
I eat both.
I want all meat cooked and cooked at least med well.
You don't want your steak still mooing at you?
I heard about these three men at a steakhouse, one ordered a steak "rare, very rare." For some reason some men think it is manly to eat steak that is more raw than that of their companions. The second ordered a steak "just barely singed, just pass it through the flame once." The third said, "just send the cow past and I'll rip a chunk out of its flank on the way by."
Yuck.

I'd be the second.....I like my steak medium rare. Much more flavor than one cooked well done. Every "well-done" steak I've ate was akin to boot leather. Medium rare, however, just pink all the way through, has delicious flavoring..... And I've owned a Miata and carried a pink alligator skin handbag in to my wife. I have no problems with my manliness. I am secure in my manhood... :laughhard:
I'm a total hypocrite but I can't eat bloody food. I can't get away from it in scripture. That probably makes me weak... lol

hola
Sushi is nasty.
What kind?
I love sushi
Not raw so much but I love the rolls
the only sushi i like has smoked salmon and some sort of cream cheese in it. It's quite tasty.
Not impressed with sushi
It can be good if you cook it right. I have yet to find a restaurant that cooks it right though - they all rely on cutsey layouts.
We have several around here that cook it right
:noo:
5 inches of snow and still falling
...
Made vegetable beef soup.
Yum
Still got plenty, come on over. ;)
wish i had stuff to make chili today. it would be perfect.
...
Chili sounds really good right now. Almost lunch time... gotta figure out what to make me.
hopefully it'll dethraw the road enough that we can get out and to the store.
It's really nice here today. Sunny and I didn't even need a jacket at lunch.
suns finally out. we finally got above freezing.
heading home
Hola
:hi:
It is supposed to get cold around here... It was cool tonight. Today was the best day this week though.
Thinking I will probably pick up stuff for Chili now ;)
Had a great youth rally tonight. Shouted my hair down. Now, ready to go to bed...
Hola Mesi :hi:
our chili yesterday was awesome. today's menu is lasagna.
:hi:
Woke up too early todat
It's so pretty outside today. Sunny and nice.
Ikr been a while
We needed rain, but gray skies get old fast.
AMEN! The TN river is currently flooded and I'm beginning to wonder how we'll get to our favorite restaurant. When the river floods the road is blocked. :-\
Maybe all our flooding is heading your way to the Mississippi Isaac
I was incredibly happy for sunshine today. Of course it was glaring off the snow and almost blinded me multiple times. But I'll take it!
Since this has became the sharing thread part 2- :P - it was near 60 and sunny here today. I was quite pleased with it and my little dirt road cruise in Rusty...until I started feeling sick. This flu/allergy thing keeps dancing around my house....not sick enough to call in to work or anything, but just sick enough to feel all "blah".. :pound:
:smirk:
:hi:
Post!
No thanks, no Post for me. I don't like breakfast cereals, they never do seem to fill me up.
;)
Speaking of cereal I'm eating Rice Krispies and he's having Apple Jacks.
Chel made rice krispie treats the other day. :fork:
The Mississippi river here is froze. Went out to the dock over by our house and it was pretty frozen. Wouldn't want to get on there, though, would fall through in some parts.
Ice fishing contest going on at Lake Onalaska.
We have the windows wide open today and a breeze wafting through. It's really nice.
Sunny and nice here, again today.
we had the heat on our feet in the car but the sunroof open because the sun was burning us both up.
It is cold!!! Brrrr.
Whew, what a day!
Mom feels the need to have the heat on full blast at the slightest hint of cold. I'm always turning it back down and getting yelled at. But I refuse to break a sweat in the winter inside my own home.
it's pleasant in here right now. it's supposed to get super cold tomorrow though and Mike 'forgot to pay' the electric bill so our power may get turned off. it's more likely that while staying with Brandon's mom the [insert unkind word here] spent all his money. so if Brandon doesn't get his student loan check in the mail we will be up the frozen creek without a boat, paddle, or elf hat that Ruby made.

I just had coffee with Granny and Ann at mcds. I'm thinking about topping it off with a bowl of nanner puddin.
Come join me.
About to get up

R u jealous?
I'm actually still in bed
I was in bed until about 14 minutes ago. Just now got up, got a glass of water, checked the mail. Now I'm catching up on the forum.
I could use a nap.
Will I go to bed before 4AM? not sure...

I'm tarred
It's been busy at work lately.

Oh, Mel, just don't spill any antifreeze. It can kill animals...
Hey AutoPartsGirl.... :freaky2:
I watched a dog die from antifreeze poisoning a few weeks ago. I wouldn't even wish that on Furby. It's horrible.
